Tradition Dictates That You Be Welcomed... To The Coastal Zone

Recommended Posts

In the grim darkness of the future, there is only Zone. Welcome to the Coastal Zone... 40,000... ... sorry. Warhammer kick lately. Part of the reason I'm looking forward to getting a house is having enough space to start painting again... by the time this is posted, there should be one week left before we move, and we should know for sure if we're getting in or not... (EDIT: Nope, not gonna happen... house needs to be fixed up first... and we're arguing with the bank over who pays for it...) CZCW Coastal Tour June 2015, week 3, Sunday Northwest USA Lauren the Lion def. Jim Force (D+) Shane Nelson & Jonnie Perez def. Snap Dragon & Acid II (D) Masked Patriot def. Masked Cougar & Dragon del Arco Isis Jr (D) Kirk Jameson def. White Angel (D+) Billy Russell def. Erik strong (C-) Show rating: C- Good show, especially for the Northwest, which is going to be one of those places we need to be careful of -- spillover there if we get too big in the Southwest could jump us to Cult ahead of schedule. Who're we kidding... that happens, we'll be estatic. Broke, but estatic. But in the meantime, we've got a show to build to... and a last-ditch effort to gain more popularity in the Southwest to make... so let's go all-out, shall we? CZCW Coastal Tour June 2015, week 4, Sunday Southwest USA Our opening match is a big one, as tag challengers Jameson and Remus take on Fox Force Five! Force apparently has something to prove since we decided not to renew his contract, and puts in one hell of a showing. Fox Force Five almost have the match won when, from out of the crowd, comes... Fox Mask? Not quite... his mask has black spots instead of white, but he definately has a fox mask on. He runs in and distracts the real Fox Mask so he's in no position to break up a pinfall, and the challengers win. Afterwards, the interloper gets on the mix and introduces himself as Reverse Fox, and asks Fox if it's too late to facce him on Monday. Fox, upset at the loss, accepts... provided he proves himself first, in a match against Insane Machine. Out comes Machine, and we're into one hell of a match. Given that nobody's sure who Reverse Fox is, the fact that these two pull off a match this good is saying quite something indeed, with Reverse Fox cheating to win to earn his match. Patriot spends some type hyping up his title match, and we go to our Champs vs Challengers match. Given that one team includes Snap Dragon and the other includes Shane Nelson, this turns out better than expected. Not 'good', but not 'bad' either, with Pratt getting the win to make him look dominant going into the big show. Sam says a few things about Patriot, and then The NextGen come out to badmouth their Monday challengers before the main event. And what a main event it is, a tag team title match between The NextGen and... Lauren the Lion and Billy Russell? If these two can act as a unit, they may be one of the most dominating tag teams in Zone history, and for nearly half an hour Strong and Tyler have to use every trick in the book to stay alive. In the end, The NextGen's survivaability is longer than Russell's patience, and he snaps on Lauren, possibly breaking her ankle in an anklelock, and the ref calls for the bell... which doesn't make Russell drop the hold, he keeps it locked in and wrenching, shouting about hwo she's no competition for him. Show Summary: Jameson & Remus def. Fox Force Five (C) Reverse Fox def. Insane Machine (C) Sam Pratt & Snap Dragon def. Masked Patriot & Shane Nelson (C-) Tag Team Titles: Lauren & Russell def. The NextGen (c) via DQ (C+) Show rating: C On the next Coastal Zone: Surf Slam 2015! Pratt vs Patriot! Dragon vs Nelson! The NextGen vs Kirk & Remus! Fox Mask vs Reverse Fox! and Lauren vs Russell! Yeah, we're loading up the card...

Welcome to Surf Slam 2015! July 2015, week 1, Monday Grissom Auditorium, southwest USA (Yeah, someday we'll be back in the Gorski... when the wrestling industry and ecomony pull themsevles out of the basement... which'll be hopefully soon...) So, we're not quite sure how to set up the card tonight. We've got five matches planned, one of which is the obvious bathroom break, one of which is the obvious main event, the other three... could go either way. So, we'll see how this does. Our opening match, perhaps a surprising choice, is the tag title match. And for an opening match, we nearly hit half an hour. And it turns out to possibly be better than we ever expected... ending with Strong and Brooke miscommunicating, and our plucky faces winning the belts. But we're now very worried that we just 'blew our wad' and the rest of the card won't live up to this... especially as Erik and Brooke argue and set up a match at Reach for the Sky, which doesn't exactly have the crowd buzzing. Fox Mask tries to ride the crowd's momentum with a promo on his new stalker, and we segue into the Xtreme Lucha Match, which Dragon wins handily and we knew would be the worst match of the night... but still comes out fairly 'ok'. Out comes the Reverse Fox, promising to unmask if Fox beats him, and here comes Fox. As luck would have it, these two? Pretty good chemistry. Even if Fox off his game, they put on a good little match that sees Reverse Fox using the ropes to get the pinfall, and promising to make Fox Mask's life hell. Billy Russell is backstage, cutting a promo on how Lauren thinks she's competition for him, but she'll learn she's just another Zone wannabe. Yeah, we finally decided to have him work heel. The obligatory hype video plays, and for the first time in... well, a long, long time, the CZCW Title is not the main event. Perhaps it should have been, as Sam and Patriot exceed expectations and put on a great ladder match that ends with Pratt falling back-first to the mat with the title. Lauren is out to verbally defend the Zone, and we now get our main event... which, hopefully, will live up to our expectations. For almost half an hour, these two go at it, and it's a fun mesh of styles that, while it doesn't blow us away, it fights hard for the right to be in the main event. We're not sure if it succeeds or not... we could have switched this and the title match and not felt like we were betraying tradition... but in the end, Russell shows that, while Lauren may put up a fight, she's not competition. Show Summary: Tag Titles: Jameson & Remus def. The NextGen (c) (C+) Xtreme Title: Snap Dragon (c) def. Shane Nelson (C-) Reverse Fox def. Fox Mask (C) CZCW Title: Sam Pratt (c) def. Masked Patriot (C+) Billy Russell def. Lauren the Lion (C+) Show rating: C Oh, come on, another C? How the hell is that not a C+? Argh... On the next Coastal Zone: Russell wants more competition. The NextGen may be falling apart. Fox is hunted. Reach for the Sky promises to be interesting...

Okay, so, it's been a week or so since I last simmed. Let's see, where were we... oh, right. Welcome to the Coastal Zone! CZCW Coastal Tour July 2015, week 1, Sunday Tristate, USA Acid & Del Arco def. Brasil & Velvet (D-) Lauren the Lion def. Ash Campbell (D) Billy Russell def. Jackpot Jordan (E+) Snap Dragon & Masked Cougar def. White Angel & Raphael (D) Reverse Fox def. Jim Force (D) CZCW Title: Sam Pratt (c) def. Fox Mask due to Reverse Fox interference (C-) Show Rating: D+ Wow. Tristate's starting to like us. Our hope is to build them up to be a potential strong market for when we re-hit Cult -- with A* importance, popularity gains there are 'worth more' when it comes to growing the audience. And yes, Cougar and Dragon have made up, with the goal of reclaiming the tag team titles... we ran out of good challengers without Team Lucha involved, really. ... PWMAX have hit Regional size. This is bad, folks... really bad... they did it with a B- show, so we're going to lose the regional battles to them, too. On the plus side, the economy and industry are starting to rise. They're still in the toilet, but starting to rise. Oh, and no less than -eight- promotions had backstage trouble this week. Yeesh... tempers are flaring all over. CZCW Coastal Tour July 2015, week 2, Sunday Grissom Auditorium, Southwest USA. We open with Reverse Fox in the ring, announcing he's found a new way to make Fox Mask's live hell... he's going to challenge his ex-partner to a match tonight. If he loses, he'll unmask... but if Jim Force loses, he has to leave the Zone. Force comes out to accept, and Fox is shown backstage, worried. Our opening match... doesn't live up to that, with Acid squashing Ash Campbell. Force cuts a promo about how a friend is willing to take risks to help another friend, and with the power of the FOOOOOOOORCE, he's sure to unmask the identity of Fox Mask's new archnemesis. The match between the two is... well, fairly good for a Force match, but it ends with him eating a Fox Flipoff DDT and having to vacate the Zone while Reverse Fox cuts a promo about continuing to making Fox Mask's life hell. We get a filler match as Team Lucha's Cougar and Dragon defeat Kid Fantastic and Jonnie Perez, and then announce their intentions to win the tag team titles. After that, we get a rematch as The NextGen challenge Jameson and Remus, and the two teams steal the show, culminating in Brooke smashing Eric over the head with a chair and declaring him the weak link and the reason they lost the titles in the first place. After the match, Eric swears revenge. Backstage, Fox Mask does likewise against Reverse Fox, and we move right into our main event as Billy and Lauren face Fox and Sam... and it all degenerates into chaos, with Reverse Fox taking out Fox Mask and Sam, Lauren and Billy brawling with each other through the building for a no-contest. Show Summary: Acid II def. Ash Campbell (E+) Reverse Fox def. Jim Force (D+) Team Lucha (Dragon & Cougar) def. Fantastic & Perez (D-) Tag Titles: Jameson & Remus (c) def. The NExtGen (C) Fox Mask & Sam PRatt draw Lauren the Lion and Billy Russell (C-) Show rating: C- Not our best show... and that tag title match was unexpectedly good... but we'll take it for now... we just have to build up some of those matches and put on a good... whatever our next big show is.

Well... not yet. But they're recommending evacuation of everyone east of 8th St and south of the interstate... we're on 10th street and two-three blocks north of the interstate... so it's gonna be too damn close for comfort. PAcking two boxes of stuff you absolutely don't want to lose is... sobering. It's amazing how much of my stuff I'm willing to leave behind, to make room for pictures of family and a few things you hope you can sell afterwards to help get back on your feet...
