I'm digging the references to other diaries. ;)
Its an idea I've been kicking around for awhile now. I'm hoping those particular writers won't mind the references, though I can always edit if someone takes offense in some manner. Probably something I'll keep throwing in there here and there, but I don't want to get overt with it. I would also like to take a moment to give a very sincere thank you to everyone who voted for this diary in the Kayfabe Breaking category and Best Presentation category. I'm honored to simply to have been nominated, let alone win. So thank you everyone.

The brand split, which many in the industry questioned at first, has proven to be viable. Both A shows for the SWF continued to draw strong ratings. The real success for the SWF was The Supreme Challenge 28. A massively successful show, the biggest annual showcase in North American wrestling looks to be a strong candidate for the show of the year for 2008. The news on the opposite coast was quite the opposite for Total Championship wrestling. Though TCW remains ranked as the 2nd biggest promotion in the world currently, their size rating based on this website's ranking system dropped to Cult in June. Having lost both TV shows last month, the promotion ran just one show in July, their monthly pay per view. TCW Summer Showdown was a relatively lackluster affair that saw Tommy Cornell retain his TCW World Heavyweight championship over Joel Bryant. The show garnered just a B- rating, hardly the kind of display that the promotion will need to pull itself back up. Especially when you consider that through the month of July, the SWF managed to pull better show ratings than that with their B show, SWF Generation Supreme. With Tommy Cornell's reign now surpassing the 19 month mark, many fans are calling for the superstar to drop the belt, just in hopes of seeing something different in TCW. The plight of TCW has left Sam Strong's United States Pro Wrestling with a perfect opportunity to exploit and possibly move into the number two spot in America. USPW has shown little to make such a jump likely, however. July saw the promotion put on a run of C+ shows, solid but hardly spectacular. The work of the ever-popular Bruce the Giant and champion James Justice continues to carry USPW. The promotion suffered a blow when main eventer mainstay Peter Valentine retired, but Sam Strong compensated by signing the reviled Big Smack Scott. The Big Smacker was released from SWF several months ago amid allegations of steroid abuse, and he has been working with CZCW for a short while now. The only title change in July for USPW was Mick Muscles claiming the USPW Television title in the first week of the month. One of the best shows put on by the smaller promotions this month was MAW Summer Heatwave. Headlined by Mean Jean Cattley defending his Mid Atlantic Championship against Harlem Hayes, the show earned a solid C rating. The incomparable Rip Chord continues to do great work with the small promotion. An equally solid show as put on by CZCW as their CZCW Battle on the Beach 2008 entertained the 1,000 fans in attendance at The Snake Pit. The struggle in Pittsburgh continues as the upstart Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling lost several key workers to other promotions. Perhaps due to that fact, the PSW Sweet Pain show in Week 3 of the month was relatively poor, earning just a D+ grade. The likes of Whistle, Genio Verde, Flying Jimmy Foxx, and Elijah Harris were signed up by Mitch Naess' promotion through the month in hopes of compensating. Things are even worse in New York City, where New York City Wrestling continues to face problems. The NYCW Gang Wars show was held in New England, drawing just 163 fans and earning a D grade. Rumors of The Stomper facing serious financial problems persist. Rhode Island Pro Wrestling put on RIPW Fire Mountain in Week 2, a C- show that saw Colossus claim the RIPW Championship. In Puetro Rico, FCW Desolation earned a C- grade as local hero Puerto Rican Power beat Handsome Stranger to defend his FCW Puerto Rican title. On the women's wrestling scene, AAA put on a solid even with AAA Women of Wrestling 12. It drew a C- rating. And though some will argue whether it even qualifies as "wrestling", Babes of Sin City impressed with a D rated BSC Torch of War show. The remainder of 2008 will be interesting to watch on the American scene. Can the Supreme Wrestling Federation maintain its strong run? Will Total Championship Wrestling recover? Will Sam Strong lead USPW past the fallen TCW? Can one of the smaller promotions make the leap forward? Many questions and the answers will sort themselves out through the last five months of the year.
Canada
It was a solid month for Canadian Golden Combat. They started the month with a B- rated episode of CGC Title Bout Wrestling, a show headlined by a hyped family-feud tag team match between Jack and Alex DeColt against Ricky and Steve. The family feud storyline has done well for the promotion, as they pulled steady C shows through the month, including a C+ for CGC Ultimate Showdown pay per view. Nate Johnson won the CGC Canadian championship. The DeColt's promotion did lose tag team favorites Youth Energy to the SWF, however. North of the Border Pro Wrestling is still reeling a bit from the loss of their TV show and star Johnny Bloodstone. The Stone's put on a solid show in Week 2, drawing 10,000 fans to Ottawa for the NOTBPW Mid Summer Madness. A typical display of great wrestling, the show pulled a solid B- grade. The Can-Am Blondes became the NOTPW Tag Team champions as they defeated Craig Green and Mighty Cavanagh for the vacant belts. 4C held their 4C Presents... Iron Man Challenge, a rather standard and mundane show for the tiny promotion. The big concern amongst the Canadian promotions has to be the steady growth of the Supreme Wrestling Federation's popularity north of the border. The popularity ratings of TEW put the American promotion ahead of both CGC and NOTBPW at the moment. The rebroadcast of SWF Supreme TV draws stronger ratings on Canadian television than CGC Title Bout Wrestling does. With the SWF looking to SWF Legends on the air in Canada, the Canadian promotions could be in trouble.
Mexico
It was a solid month for South of the Border Pro Wrestling. The promotion put on a steady series of C+ shows, with just one C-rated episode of SOTBPW Lucha Libre breaking the run. Two sets of titles changed hands, as Mexican Ghoul and Mexican Beast (Les Pesadillas) won the Campeónes de Parejas for the second time, and the trio of Hijo del Mephisto, Mexican Ghoul, and Junior Youth claimed the Campeón de Trios. OLLIE enjoyed a slightly lesser month, putting a series of C- and C rated shows. They did see a new champion, as El Critico won the Campeón de Universal for the first time at the OLLIE Acción Viva show in Week 4 of the month. The month of July was fairly straight-ahead for MPWF as well, except for a rare B- episode of MPWF Televisión in Week 1. At the MPWF Festival de Campeones show, El Bandito won the Campeón de Herencia de Mundo title over Mayan Idol. The upstart Mexican Hardcore Wrestling promotion put on an impressive show in July. Their MHW Rompase Y Entre show was comparable in quality to the established promotions, drawing a C- grade. The show was strong enough to move the unlikely promotion Regional size. This little experiment may survive yet. Similar to the Canadian promotions, the Mexican promotions have to be worried about the growing popularity of the growing global monster that is the SWF. Many expect Richard Eisen to try to get his product on TV in Mexico sometime in 2008, and that could be disastrous for Mexico's established promotions. Especially with Mexican stars like Champagne Lover, Gino Montero, and El Leon now working for the American giant.
United Kingdom
Not a fantastic month in the United Kingdom. 21st Century Wrestling put on a series of forgettable shows, making fans wonder if they will be able to reclaim the Cult size they previous enjoyed. DJ Reason won the 21st Century World championship in Week 1, and the Anglo-Scots connection won the 21st Century Tag Team championships for the third time. Ring of Fire's I Wanna Rock event earned a C+ rating, better than what 21CW managed through the month. As for MOSC, they were about on par with what 21CW produced. Neither promotion saw any belts change hands.
Japan
The prime rib of Japanese wrestling continues to be Pride Glory Honor Wrestling. PGHW's Hell Hole Tour saw the promotion put on a series of solid shows, though many were not quite to the sterling quality that fans have to come expect. The long term injury to Yoshimi Mushashibo continues to be a problem for the promotion, as current PGHW Glory Crown champion Mito Miwa has yet to produce an A match in defense of the title. Though hardly a blow, the promotion did lose two part-time wrestlers to retirement in Dread and Larry Vessey. While PGHW are hardly in trouble, their ascent to the top in Japn is not going as smoothly as many in the industry predicted. World Level Wrestling enjoyed a solid month. They put on a series of B and B+ rated shows on their Power Slave Tour. The WLW Life & Death pay per view was more than solid, as it earned a B+ rating. That show saw Magnum Kobe earn his first run with the World Level Universal title as he beat Dark Eagle. Henry Lee also won the World Level Intercontinental championship, then injured his knee to put him out for about two months. The growth of WLW is impressive, and many feel the promotion could hit National status by the end of the year. It was a mediocre month for INSPIRE, as the promotion put on a series of shows of sporadic quality. None were terrible, but none were great. The King of Fighters title remained with Tasuku Iesada. It was a relatively forgettable month for Warrior Engine XXV, who entertained their few fans with their Exile Tour. Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods, Golden Canvas Grappling, and 5 Star Supreme Wrestling were all off in the month of July. For BHOTWG and GCG, that's probably a good thing, as you can't do further damage to your once-proud reputation when you aren't running shows. Golden Canvas Grappling did lose former world champion Pistol Pete Hall, who has reportedly signed with the SWF, though he has yet to be seen on TV. The fall of BHOTWG and GCG, and the rise of PGHW, has been the story of 2008 thus far, and will continue to be the most interesting story in Japanese wrestling to watch.
Australia
Australia Pro Wrestling held the APW Finest Hour show in Week 3, putting on a respectable D grade. Harry Simonson retained the APW Commonwealth title.
Retirements
With a run of retirements through month, the decision was made here at TEW.com to include a separate section for them. The first retirement announced in July came from Peter Valentine. It is unlikely that many USPW fans were distraught at the news. Never the most talented wrestler, Valentine does retire a three-time TCW International champion and one-time TCW World Tag Team champion. A close friend of Sam Strong's, the 45-year old is expected to remain with USPW, though its unknown what role he will take. The biggest name to walk away this month was Dread. One of the great big men in the business, he won almost every major title - the SWF World Heavyweight championship, the TCW World Heavyweight championship, the GCG World Heavyweight championship (twice), and the BHOTWG Burning World Championship (twice). Quite simply, Dread redefined what a "big man" can be in professional wrestling. PGHW also lost 49-year old Larry Vessey to retirement this month. A tag team specialist with his brother Bryan Vessey, the duo claimed the TCW World Tag Team titles six times. They will go down as one of the finest tag team duos the business has seen. He had been working a part-time schedule in recent years. Another legend to end their active careers was Eric Tyler. An icon of the Danger and Violence Extreme promotion, the Canadian held the DaVE Unified championship five times. Prior to that, he was a two-time CGC World Heavyweight champion. After DaVE ended last year, Tyler moved back to CGC but was tempted back to the big time by SWF at the start of the year. It appears the Tyler will remain with SWF, as he was moved into the "General Manager" role on their Legends brand.

So I'm just curious on something, for the regular readers... Does the huge roster and brand split make it difficult to follow the diary? Just curious as to opinions on it. A big roster was always intended as part of the diary, but its gotten pretty huge. Personally I enjoy the challenge of juggling all the talent and such, as its about the only challenge the game has. But I'd just like a take on it from the readers. And if it is difficult, I'm open to suggestions on ways to make things easier to read.

Now I wouldn't expect you to do a full write- up but something simple, such as the results of the matches (with the grades) shouldn't be too difficult to knock up.

Just the match results and a summary of angles would be perfect for that show. In fact, the format that I am using for NEO for now would probably work well.
Not from this viewpoint.
Good to hear. I'm thinking (hoping?) that the roster and title-holders on the front page might help a bit in that regard. That was the point of it from the beginning, and I do try to keep it fairly up-to-date.
It doesn't confuse me...however and I've probably brought this up before...a report for the Generation Supreme shows (where alot of the undercard talent is being used in stuff other than being job fodder for the big guns) wouldn't go a miss, as it would help us follow the progress of the workers that aren't regularly on Supreme TV or Legends a little closer. My idea was to throw it in with the Fry Report previews for Supreme TV but it just keeps being forgotten. So I might do a separate small post for it. Its only going to be a partial recap of the matches for a few reasons... 1. Workers Yet to Debut - the signing and the debut never seem to coincide perfect, so I use dark matches and the B show to get the matches. It might not be a big name signings - it might just be a tag team combo that I don't want to give away before they debut. 2. Trainers - I've hired quite a few decently talented veterans to work as trainers. Most were assigned to RIPW. I've ended up bringing some of them up to the main roster. Steve Flash is the only one currently listed on the roster, but I have a few more that basically split time between the main roster and some with RIPW as trainers. I've also added a couple experienced tag teams as well. Not sure if I want to reveal all the trainers at this point, just because a few might be used later in storylines and angles. 3. Angles - I probably won't post most of the angles from the B show. Quite simply because they fall into one of two categories - video recaps of my primary storylines or angles for some of those guys I don't really want to reveal yet.

SWF.com: Generation Supreme Review
SWF.com Review of SWF Generation Supreme - Friday Week 4 July 2008 It was another solid week of action on the Supreme Wrestling Federation's B-show. If you stayed up late to watch, you saw some veteran grapplers and future Supreme Legends. If not, here's a quick recap for you! The youngster Kirk Jameson scored his first SWF victory as he pinned veteran Paul Steadyfast. A wrestler that a few fans may recognize, Steadyfast has been on something of an extended tryout with Supreme and he has yet to impress. The ageless Steve Flash showed off the skills that have made him such a fan favorite through his career. He took on youngsters Adam Matravers and Remmy Skye, emerging with the win. Swoop McCarthy notched himself a win over a fellow youngster as he simply overpowered the rarely-seen Avatar. A couple of the SWF's newer tag teams had to take on one of the best young duos, as Badd Kompany faced Americana and Natural Selection. The more experienced pairing of Sean Deeley and Joss Thompson earned themselves another win. Pistol Pete Hall might not be young, but the 46-year old can still work it in a ring. Taking on Erik Strong and Art Reed, the big cowboy showed the younger workers a thing or two. Like how to win, as he proved too much for his opponents to handle. It was Pistol Pete's first win in the Supreme Wrestling Federation. Blood Elderberry and Blood Bonham - also known as the Black Label Fight Club - have struggled to find a place for themselves since they rejoined the SWF. That didn't change as they fell to The Samoan Wildboyz, with a little interference from BJ O'Neill. As for the two main matches, those you had to see to believe... The Fry Report Preview
Every week on The Fry Report podcast will provide the latest information on everything Supreme. News, rumors, and interviews, all brought to you by the incomparable Duane Fry. Preview for podcast available Monday, Week 1, August 2008 "Things are beginning to shape up for SWF Welcome to the Jungle 2008, now barely two weeks away. The number one contender for the SWF World Heavyweight champion is yet to be determined, however. Rich Money decided that Jack Bruce and Randy Bumfhole had to get past "The Alpha Dog" Remo first, and The Long Island Angel couldn't do it last week. If Randy Bumfhole can manage it this week, it would make an unlikely title match between Rich Money and R-Bum. Will the youngster manage it? You have to tune in to find out!" "What exactly does Darryl Devine have to be so angsty about? Probably not a lot. But he will address his new nickname when Dani Nevada interviews the former SWF Shooting Star champion this week." "In a match to determine the number one contenders for the SWF World Tag Team championships, Sin Inc will take on The Heartbreakers and Black Label Fight Club. What exactly have Blood Bonham and Blood Elderberry done of late to deserve such a chance? No idea, but someone decided they should be in there. My money is on The Heartbreakers - there's just something about the duo of Steven Parker and Jay Chord that makes me think "future tag team champions". Maybe that's just me...?" "Former collegiate wrestling champion Sean Deeley has been called perhaps the most gifted technical grappler currently in the Supreme Wrestling Federation. "The Shooter" will get a chance to prove that as he takes on the very skilled Angry Gilmore. Can the Generation Supreme star take down one of the SWF's established superstars?" "Last week on SWF Legends, the massively talented tag team The New Wave told Chris Caufield they were moving to the Supreme brand. I am told that Guide and Scout will be at the show tomorrow night, and they will unveil who their new manager is. I wouldn't be surprised to see these two in the mix to face Valiant & Giedroyc at Welcome to the Jungle for the SWF World tag belts." "I talked to Antonio Marquez and Gino Montero this week. They told me that they are unleashing a "revolución" upon the Supreme Wrestling Federation. Actually, the full name they gave it is "La Revolución del Diablo". Forgive my rusty Spanish, but I believe that translates to "The Devils' Revolution". So just what do these two revolutionaries have in mind? Well, you'll have to tune in and I'll share a few things that you won't believe!" "See you tomorrow night! It's going to be a barn-stormer!"
The Fry Report will be available on SWF.com or directly from iTunes.
A special feature for the Fry Report... Sorry to do the "??? vs ???" main event, but its a match that I want to set up during the show in storylines terms. I've done that a few times, but always announcing it before the show is posted takes away from the storytelling, I think. So I may do this every so often. Feel free to guess who the main event is. I'm not debuting Payne, just in case anyone was thinking that's where its going. Its two established SWF wrestlers on the Supreme brand, with no title on the line.

The other thing it could involve is the debut of one of the members of the New Wave, perhaps both.

Good guess on the main event, Tiger. But its not Money and its not either guy from The New Wave. I figured I'd throw out a hint or two, as its not massive in storyline terms or anything, but just more fun to do it this way (I think). A bit of a hint is that its guy capable of carrying a main event, and one of them might be a slight bit surprising to a few people in that regard. Oh, and does the Generation Supreme recap like that work for everyone? I know its not that detailed, but that's more detail that what I've been meaning to include in the Fry Reports.

One thing I'd like to see added to your roster recap is an afilliation note in the individual list section. Such as Joss Thompson - 1/2 of the Badd Kompany team, or Steve Parker - part of the Remember Tomorrow stable for example. I know you have these listed separately, but it'd be useful to have them included in their list anyway.

Those are important points. He has a cell phone to his ear and seems to be looking for something. Richard Eisen: Yeah, no, I can't right now... What? No, I'm busy at the moment... I don't to be honest. Some of the young guys asked me to attend something... No, I really don't know what. They just said a presentation... He stops suddenly, staring to his left. He seems speechless. Richard Eisen: Yeah, I'll have to call you back. The CEO of the Supreme Wrestling Federation hangs up his phone. He can't stop staring at the wall. The camera finally moves around to show what he's staring at. The long decorative wall is lined with a series of posters of major events that have been held at The Dust Bowl. There is a central collage of posters of SWF events that have been held there through the years. Its this collage that Richard Eisen is staring at. He's staring at it because someone has sprayed graffiti all over it. In big red and greed spray paint is the phrase "Vive la Revolución" across the middle of the posters. Other phrases - "Mexi-Power", "Mexi-Can", and "Los Diablos" - are painted on the wall. Small devil horns have been put on every face of every poster. Eisen stares at the graffiti for a long moment, clearly not happy but not really upset either. He turns around suddenly. Campbell is far from living up to his father's standards yet. Its not quite a squash match for one half of the tag team champions, but its not far off either. Dani Nevada: I'm here with Darryl Devine, also known as The Angsty Young Man. Darryl Devine: Known as the what? Dani Nevada: The Agnsty Young Man. Sorry, it's a nickname that The Guru gave you the other week... I didn't mean to offend you, Darryl. Darryl Devine: Offend me? It doesn't offend me, Dani. But you all would be pretty full of angst too if you had been through what I've been through. The pain, the suffering, the betrayal. But I'm stronger for it. I'll persevere. Dani Nevada: Now, since moving here to the Supreme brand, you've indicated that you're targeting the North American championship currently held by Marc DuBois. Now DuBois has built a stable of young workers around himself, to protect him. Do you think you'll be able to take on all three by yourself. Darryl Devine: What choice do I have? Darryl Devine is self-sufficient. It's the only way I can be. Ralph Waldo Emerson had it right - "nothing can bring you peace but yourself". Dani Nevada: Well, you could try to align yourself with some of the other Generation Supreme guys... the Bumfholes or maybe that Jameson kid... Darryl Devine: You sound like my girlfriend. Just this morning, she told me I should try to make some friends here on this show. Friends who could watch my back and help me out. But what good are friends when they're just going to betray you in the end anyway? Darryl Devine doesn't need friends. Like I said, Darryl Devine is self-sufficient. Self-reliant. I'm a shining example to all the fans, and all the kids out there could learn a thing or two by following my example. Dani Nevada: Okay, well thanks then, Darryl. Newton is in street clothes, but he has his SWF Generations Championship with him. Richard Eisen: Can we get this going? Playboy Jake Sawyer: Most certainly, Mr. Eisen. Most certainly. Ace Newton: Would sometime tell me why the hell we're here? Ash Campbell: I'll do it. Look, Ace, we asked you because we all have something we want to say. Campbell looks to Valentine, Vessey, and Sawyer for reassurance. They nod for him to continue. Ash Campbell: We asked Mr. Eisen to be here tonight because we think this is important. Now me, Casey, and Cameron - we all come from wrestling families. We've been around this business our entire lives. We know talent. So does Sawyer here. And what we see in you is the future of this business. The future of the Supreme Wrestling Federation. Isn't that right, Mr. Eisen. Richard Eisen: It's true, Ace. Within a few years, you can be where Money is now. Ash Campbell: Now that you have your Generations belt back from Retro, we wanted to do something to celebrate. But also something to thank you, for being our friend and including us in what's going to be your rise to the top. So Cam, Casey, and I talked to our families and they helped us out with this... And Sawyer helped out, too. And Mr. Eisen approved it. We got you this. Valentine and Vessey reach under the bench and drag out a dirty-looking gym bag. They reach inside together and pulled out a shiny new championship belt. Ash Campbell: This is yours, Ace. Newton looks shocked. He takes the proffered belt from Valentine and Vessey. He cradles it, staring at it for a long moment. Then he looks up at his friends. He says nothing, just embraces all of them. Watching this, Eisen looks slightly bemused. Richard Eisen: And that is the new official SWF Generations championship. Congrats, kid. But I have to be going. The CEO departs while the Four Kings and their manager huddle up. The two big brawling Black Label boys do a decent job in the match, surprisingly. The youngsters show some determination and skill, but its really the duo of Sexy and McClean carrying the match. Apparently, my words have created cause for concern amongst both the wrestlers and the fans. Which, I must point out, was precisely the point of those words. I was asked to explain exactly what Judgement Day is. I cannot do that, because it is something that must be experienced. I cannot tell you what it is, but I can tell you when. Judgement Day will begin at the Welcome to the Jungle 2008 pay per view. Less than ten days from now. On that day, you will all learn what the meaining of Payne truly is. Rich Money: Thanks Remo. What I needed to talk about today is respect. See, when you dedicate your life to something and become truly great at it - and I mean the best in the world - then you've earned the respect of your peers. But I don't feel that, Remo. I've proven that there's no one better. That I am truly and honestly money... and yet I don't feel like I am respect. And that bothers me. Remo: It's disrespectful. Because I'm going to force them to respect me. I'm not going to give them a choice. You see, I have a plan. That plan started with me winning this here SWF World champion. Now the next step in The Beautiful Reign will be force the entire Supreme Wrestling Federation to respect Rich Money. And to respect Remo. You can bank on it. Remo does a chest pound and his "Alpha Dog" bark. Rich Money: Did you have something to say? Remo: I'll say my piece after I take care of business. Rich Money: Good man. We are quite attached to each other. And now, you too Retro... Everyone wants what I have. But you cannot take if from me. For I am DuBois! The champ pauses here, so the crowd can boo lustily. Marc DuBois: Now, as for my friends here... They have set a goal for themselves. Steven and Jay yearn to become SWF World Tag Team champions. So that is the next goal for Remember Tomorrow - to make The Heartbreakers champions as well. They deserve gold of their own. Steven Parker: Thanks champ! Marc DuBois: No, thank you, Steven. For DuBois is a gracious champion. A thankful and loving champion. The kind of champion who deserves to be the heart of the new Generation Supreme. You fans should learn to learn love me - to love us - because when the old men in the back finally move off into the pastures of retirement, it is we who will carry this company. And DuBois who will be the face! A young and happy face to the company. Not old and bitter like Faith or Bruce. Its as though some wrestlers do not know when their time is over. When it is time to make a graceful exit... But when The Long Island Angel appears on the ramp, the roar of the crowd is simply deafening. Bruce has to give the crowd a moment to cool down so he can talk. Jack Bruce: I'm so sorry to interrupt here, champ... But my hearing seems to be going in my old age, as I think I just heard you call the Long Island Angel "old and bitter". But I couldn't' have heard that. Marc DuBois: No, you heard correctly. Jack Bruce: See, that's funny... kid... Because I've been in this business since about the time you were born. I've been a rock n' rolla for a long time now, and the Angel is more than willing to show you how to roll. This old man has a few lessons to teach you, DuBois. Tonight. You and me. Its showtime. The crowd goes crazy. Marc DuBois: You are crazy, Jack Bruce. I will not put my title on the line with so little notice. Jack Bruce: I don't give a lick about that belt of yours, kid. I just want a chance to each you a bit about respecting your elders. So step up, DuBois... Or if are you afraid? Marc DuBois: Afraid? Preposterous! DuBois is not fearful. I will face you, Bruce. I will show you what Generation Supreme is all about. I will teach you why you are irrelevant! Jack Bruce: Sure you will, kid. Sure you will... With a smirk, Bruce drops the microphone. He plays to the crowd a bit more before disappearing back through the Supreme Gate. Whatever else DuBois and Remember Tomorrow had to say goes unsaid. After looking peeved for a moment, DuBois leads his troops out of the ring to prepare for his match yet to come. Grade: B+
Rich Money: Leave it to Jack Bruce to pick on the children of the SWF. It is as technical a match as the SWF has seen of late, but in a positive - it isn't slow grappling, but fast-paced and exciting. They seamlessly transition between styles, with Gilmore particularly showing off his diversity of skills. Its a great match that makes both men look good - Gilmore looks as credible and skillful as always, while Deeley takes a notable step forward as a singles competitor. Gilmore has to go through his entire finishing sequence - the Sky High Set Up suplex, the Sky High Elbow, and finally the Anger Management. Angry Gilmore Wins at 11:14 via Pinfall Grade: A
Rich Money: I'll hand it to that Deeley kid - he can wrestle. Peter Michaels: And Gilmore? Remo starts strong as he usually does, battering away at Bumfhole and knocking him about. When Bumfhole finally finds his feet a few minutes in, he uses a series of lighting-quick high-athleticism moves to not just slow Remo down, but actually knock him down. Bumfhole continues to use the approach and Remo seems frustrated that he can't really get a hold of his opponent. Then the bigger man seems to gas a bit, as he looks to be breathing heavy. Bumfhole gets a pair of 2-count pins and it looks like he might actually get the victory. When the high-flying middleweight tries a flog splash, Remo actually catches him and tosses him out of the ring. There's no skinned cat this time, as Randy hits the floor hard. Remo isn't tired and he isn't hurt - he's angry. A nasty Remo Buster on the outside and its not looking good for Bumfhole. Back in the ring, Remo continues to use his high-impact style to dominate. When Remo goes for a Hit and Run, Bumfhole counters with a legsweep and quick-pin attempt but Remo kicks out. That seems to be the last of what Bumfhole has, as another Remo Buster is followed by The Destroyer and Remo gets the win. Remo Wins at 12:22 via Pinfall Grade: B Remo In-Ring Segment After the win, a shocked looking Bumfhole clears out. Remo grabs a microphone. He does what he rarely does - a solo promo. Remo: Gilmore, you come out here last week and have the balls to challenge me? Think you can take down Remo, little man? You're welcome to try. Why don't we make things interesting and make it at the Welcome to the Jungle pay per view? Fitting, because it can be your welcome to the big time... and I promise you, Gilmore, its gonna hurt. Trying to take down the Alpha Dog isn't like trying to take down Joe Sexy or one of those kids in the back. This dog is gonna bite! The crowd responds. Remo doesn't address the crowd directly by himself very often, and he's fiery and intense. The crowd loves it. Remo: You wanna talk about how finding a woman who will put up with your crap has reformed you and all that. Well, that's great for you, Gilmore. I sure hope that seeing the error in your ways will make the beating I give you hurt a little less. I'm done talking. This dog is ready to fight. This one again shows a bit of everything, as DuBois and Bruce show off their flashy aerial skills, technical grappling, and even some brawling. The fans love every moment of it. Bruce even has to content with Remember Tomorrow interfering, as DuBois has Parker and Chord run in while Bruce is outside the ring and the ref is distracted. But Bruce sends the youngsters running back up the rump with a series of nice kicks. Through the middle of the match, DuBois takes control a bit and looks pretty good but the veteran Bruce battles back. The end of the match is exciting, with each man countering each others finishers. After his Welcome to NYC trio, Bruce goes for his New York Minute fame-dropper finisher, which DuBois narrowly avoids by diving away. The youngster dives into the ropes and rebounds with a forearm smash to Bruce' chest, which he somehow manages to transition into his Model Solution inverted sleeper. He locks in tight in the center of the ring. Bruce wears down and it looks like DuBois will get the upset. Then Long Island Angel folds up and grabs DuBois' leg, spinning into a roll-up pin that gets the three count to steal victory from a near-defeat. Jack Bruce Wins at 14:05 via Pinfall Grade: A Jack Bruce + Marc DuBois Post-Match Segment Bruce looks tired after his win. he watches as DuBois bails out of the ring, looking somewhere between angry and hurt. As he grabs his North American championship belt from the time-keepers table, DuBois looks very much like a wounded puppy. He quickly straps his belt around his waist and makes hi way up the ramp. Bruce is tossed a microphone. Jack Bruce: Let that be a lesson to you, DuBois. There is a big difference between old and experienced. This gets a pop and Bruce is all smiles. Jack Bruce: Eisen, Money, this is for you! These kids don't have it yet and you know it! Oh, they might have talent. But it takes more than talent to be a true champion. It takes heart. It takes courage. It takes experience. It takes sacrifice. They're not ready and its obvious. The Generation Supreme will have its day, but it is not this day. Its still our time. Its still my time. Is still showtime! This gets another big pop from the adoring crowd. Jack Bruce: Money... Eisen... Rich and richer... I'm asking you both to come out here. I know you're in that booth, Money. There's no hiding. Rich Money + Richard Eisen With a smirk on his face, Rich Money slowly takes off his headset. He very deliberately stands up, puts his SWF World Heavyweight championship belt over his shoulder, and makes his way from the annoucers booth to the top of the stage. He is joined by Richard Eisen, who walks out through the Supreme Gate. Jack Bruce: Money, so they say, is the root of all evil today. Money, it's a crime. Share it fairly but don't take a slice of my pie. Rich Money: Jack, I love it when you talk to nonsense to me.... You had me at "Money"... Jack Bruce: It ain't time for jokes, Money. Its time for decisions. We both know that the Bumfhole kid isn't ready to be champion. Not of a promotion of ths caliber. I am. I deserve to be the number one contender and to get a shot to win my belt back. Rich Money: Well, to start with, Jack... Its not your belt anymore. Its mine. I took it from you at The Supreme Challenge. No matter how much you complain, it won't change. Second, you were given a fair opportunity to establish yourself as the number one contender for my belt. All you had to do was beat Remo. And you failed. Bumfhole failed as well. You can talk all you want about "deserving" a shot at the title, Jack. But as I said last week, that has to be earned. You don't get a title shot on merit. If we start doing that, we might as well start awarding the belt based on merit instead of actually competing for it. That doesn't work, Jack. It does not work. Richard Eisen: So what a minute here, champ. If neither Bruce nor Bumfhole are worthy number one contenders, who exactly are you going to wrestle at Welcome to the Jungle, Richard? Rich Money: Well, Dick, I do know a couple of lovely models from Sweden would be willing to wrestle me in a tub of pudding... They're twins! Richard Eisen: I don't think so, Richard. Maybe you should wrestle Remo? Rich Money: I don't think that would be a very entertaining match, boss. We're friends. First and foremost, we're friends. Richard Eisen: That might be, Richard. But you need an opponent. So next week on Supreme TV, Jack Bruce will face Randy Bumfhole to determine the number one contender. To decide who faces Rich Money at Welcome to the Jungle 2008. Jack Bruce: You want me to beat another one of these kids, Eisen... No problem. It's showtime. A pop from the crowd. They are so easily manipulated. Richard Eisen: And as for you, Richard, you'll be in action as well. I think I can find a suitable challenge for you, since you didn't seem to like being on the sidelines this week. Rich Money: I relish the opportunity, Dick. With a big grin, Money drops the microphone and strolls through the Supreme Gate, leaving Richard Eisen staring down into the ring at his old nemesis Jack Bruce as the show ends. So once again, a bit thank you to ReapeR for that custom title belt. Its only a thousand times better than the crappy one I did to use as a holdover. His work has added a ton visually to diary, so thanks! I wasn't sure how the top part of the card would play out on this show, so I'm a bit surprised by two A matches and quite happy with the A overall grade. Especially since I broke my role about trying to make sure every main eventer is on every show by leaving Morrisette off.

Random thought of the day... grudges are a waste of time and energy. It seems like an odd, thought give that grudges and feuds are pretty much the basis of pro wrestling. In a Sports Entertainment promotion, at least, they're the lifeblood. A pure wrestling promotion like those in Japan seem to be able to get away with portraying professional wrestling as a sporting competition, but they even play up the occasional feud. Cornell likes to think of Total Championship Wrestling as similar, apparently, but he knows that he can't sell the shows without the feuds and grudges and some basic storylines. For Supreme, they are indispensable. In real life, though? I'm not such a fan. Honestly, I've never been the type of guy to hold a grudge. And at this point in time, I'm just too busy with everything Supreme to really give a d*mn. Its sometimes entertaining that others don't feel the same, though. There was a ton of stuff on my plate, but much of my morning was spent working on two new projects. Two new ideas I'd had that I had mistake to vocalize. Now I had to write up details proposals on both. If Richard decided to go forward with the proposals, then both will likely be taken out of my hands, thankfully. I'm almost to the point where I don't want to have any new ideas simply so that I can save myself all the work that will be generated. As I worked, my email beeped at me to notify me of a new email being received. I should have ignored it, but you never know what's coming through, so I had to check it. I didn't even look at the sender before I opened it. If I had, that email might have been deleted straight away. Instead, I opened it and was greeted by this: F*ck You!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't have to read any further to know who it was from or what it was about. There was also an image attached, and while I was understandably leery, I couldn't help but open it. At least I got a good laugh. The image was a massive jpeg. I mean absolutely huge. Probably 2500x1250. I had to shrink it significantly to make anything out. It was pretty much what I expected - a digital image of Big Smack Scott in the Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling ring, holding up the Coastal Zone Championship. That's right, the big meathead won the big title in CZCW on Monday night. I heard about it yesterday morning but honestly didn't think much about it. The email looked like it came directly from Sinclair himself. Was I supposed to be impressed? Jealous? Regret having fired his steroid-abusing *ss? I was honestly a bit confounded. I was also quite amused. Not by Sinclair winning the belt - CZCW is pretty tiny and Sinclair is a pretty big name by their standards, even if he is a brutal wrestler. It actually made some sense from a booking perspective. I also doubted the CZCW cared much about steroid usage. No, I was amused by the simple fact that Sinclair would bother sending me this. It was pretty safe to assume that Big Smack Scott is not over our little disagreements about his steroid usage. There was also the fact that I couldn't help but notice that the arena that the show took place in had many a thousand fans at most. The typical SWF house show dwarfs that by a large margin. If Sinclair wanted to impress me, then winning the USPW World Championship might accomplish that. Would Sam Strong be so stupid? They had just signed Sinclair at the end of last month, apparently to replace the retiring Peter Valentine. There's a for-like replacement! Equally-talentless, but with ten times the steroid abuse! Wait, that's not fair - for all I know, Valentine was abusing the juice, too. But if Strong did book Sinclair for their title, I would be at least a bit impressed. Strong knows the business and he knows the dangers of putting the belt on someone like Big Smack Scott. Especially with some actual solid workers on the roster. They had a few guys - mostly James Justice and Bruce the Giant - that we would love to steal away from USPW if they weren't on exclusive contracts. That Nicky Champion kid looks like he has some potential too. Admittedly, I did give some consideration to responding to the email. Maybe a politely worded congratulatory statement that would enrage the meathead. Perhaps a digital copy of his termination letter and last positive steroid test? I could have some fun with this. But I decided just to leave it be. I can't say I regret how the whole Sinclair situation turned out. Perhaps if he had actually been a talented worker. But he was nothing more a guy with a good look, genuine fan heat, and a skillset that made serious injuries to opponents due to botched spots almost a certainty. He made the choice to continue to use steroids, and he knew the consequences of it. The only regret I had out of the whole situation was that we didn't job Big Smack Scott out before we fired him. Making him lose to some of the new kids could have been fun, though chances are he would have managed to injure one or two of them, whether intentional or not. I deleted the email from Sinclair and went back to my work. I honestly just didn't care. I'll leave the grudges and feuds for TV and pay per view. I've got more important things to worry about right now. Wednesday, Week 1, August 2008 Avatar

A few notes... -yes, Big Smack Scott really did win the CZCW Coastal Zone championship. Which didnt really surprise. And I actually am waiting to see if USPW does put a strap on him, as they don't have a ton of over guys beyond Justice and Bruce. -I'll be making some minor changes to the front page in the next few days. I'll be further implimenting James Casey's suggestion about adding alliances in on the roster post. I really wish this forum allowed you to create tables, because I think that woudl be the cleanest layout for a roster. Oh well. I'll also be adding a bit more info to the other promotions post, as I find I always enjoying hearing about how other promotions are doing in other people's games. -some may have noticed that after The New Wave switched brands, the brands are a bit unbalanced. There's going to be a bit of more movement between brands in the coming months - which is exactly what I've meant by "soft split". As well, there were will be some workers coming in. I don't want to have the roster swell to epic proportions, so I may have to look at dropping a few workers. That's going to take some consideration, as there's no active wrestlers on the roster right now whom I look at as utterly expendable. Everyone has some uses. -the match write-ups in this diary have never been a focus or a strength. Which I think kinda suits a Sports Entertainment promotion. But I have been doing "research" of late in terms of watching a bigger variety of pro wrestling. Been watching a lot of AJPW and Noah of late. Don't know if it will really help, but it probably can't hurt.
