SWF: Generation Supreme
Just a note... I really gotta be more careful with the booking... That is very definitely a PPV caliber card for most promotions. Overusing the upper level guys, when its just not necessary. The midcard is getting ignored and without good reason. No idea why I put the Faith match on there as well, but its done now. No going back. And for the record, this isn't another A* show, unfortunately...
I do the same thing. At least with my champion anyway. Granted I'm a bit better with heel champs, but I always tend to overuse my champion when running a promotion. Of course it doesn't help that the worker is usually great in the ring and that title match grade bonus always seems to help. Ota vs Bart Biggz I'm going to be wrong but I don't care. Ota vs Bart Biggz Ota will rise, but it'll be slow. Bart's determination will start to pay off here. Art Reed vs Texas Pete Again, minor upset for Reed. Worked last week, and again seems like a smart choice. Brandon James vs John Pathlow And the frustration of Chase and Vibert grows.. Steve Frehley vs Bryan Holmes MOTN, aside from Faith/Acid, but not too tough to pick. ??? vs Troy Tornado Picking it here: New Faction member comes in, Tornado wins, he gets kicked out on his first night, because THE FACTION DOESN'T LOSE, very slowly turns face, then jobs to Jim Force before being released. ...now watch RDJ come in and sqaush him. :p Chris Caufield vs Rocky Golden Caufield's of note, so Golden loses. Acid vs Christian Faith for the SWF Supreme Championship I've got faith. It's a stacked card, but I wouldn't say this is TOO overbooked. Of course, if the new faction member is an RDJ, then that would be differant.
That's probably the only way I'd turn Rich Money face... He basically stays the same, but his opponents, associates, and storylines basically end up with the fans cheering for him. But its honestly something I'd really consider unless the game pushes me to it.... and that's hopefully a long way down the road...
I think as Kayfabe slowly evolved, and as fans became more aware of how wrestling actually works, the fans were less willing to boo guys like Ric Flair. I recall the 1994 Ric Flair versus Ricky Steamboat match.... no ONE booed Ricky Steamboat at all, but Ric Flair was getting boos and cheers. I can see Rich Money staying the same, but his gimmick "City Slicker", isn't face friendy. On the flip-side, I recall a face Sting getting a huge visual makeover with a gimmick change along with it. And an All-American Hero like Hulk Hogan became a heel for a first in a long time to freshen himself up, and became Hollywood Hogan (which was a huge success). Or to put a much modern face-to-heel turn that was so successful (fans WANT to boo him) is non-Y2J Chris Jericho. So, it's always possible. My guess it's actually harder to do a Heel-180-to-Face, but it's possible.

Not quite enough to make them a strength, but he's not a liability in that regard anymore. My favorite part about Pete - beyond the generic cowboy brawler aspect - is that he's got himself a solid personality. He's a good backstage presense and he doens't complain much. He's jobbed man a time since joining Supreme and he rarely complains about it. If he could just get his Performance skills up a bit, he'd be a very valuable midcarder. A red-and-black version of the alt is an interesting idea... Might tuck that one away for the future...

By the way, Bigpapa42, what kind of gimicks do you usually use for the SWF, when you switch their gimmicks? I tend to avoid Realistic, Unique, or Gimmicky gimmicks, as they characters don't have a ratings in the area, making them somewhat of risks to use. (By the way, does Christian Faith still have the Bad Ass gimmick? That seems strange, especially your Christian Faith. :))

When I change a gimmick, I look for something that fits my character concept but also fits the worker in the game. I try to avoid ones that mean keeping them off-screen. Even with a number of extra gimmick imported from mods, I still occassionally end up creating customs ones to fit the specific character. Not something I do very often, as I find it doesn't usually result in better gimmick ratings anyway. Faith is on a custom one. A Unique Charistmatic Underdog Babyface or something similar. Figured the Underdog thing kinda fit, given that he's the target so much since he got the Supreme belt and I have him use the "come back to win" so often...

The quartet get quiet the unwelcoming welcome. When the crowd finally quiets down, Tyler announces that tonight will decide who will face Christian Faith at Let the Games Begin 2008 for the SWF Supreme Championship. Tyler says that after much consideration and deliberation, he has decided that if Rocky Golden wins his match against Chris Caufield tonight, he will get the title shot at the pay per view. While Brandon James and Steve Frehley can make compelling arguments, they have both had their chances. Its time for the Golden Boy to have a chance to prove himself. If Rocky Golden should fail, then it will depend on who looks good in the other matches tonight. Its not just a matter of whether or not Brandon James and Steve Frehley defeat their opponents tonight, but how they look in doing so. Style counts, Tyler tells the fans. The General Manager says that he has not yet decided who will participate in the Supreme Games matches at Let the Games Begin. Six of the most exciting stars of the brand will have the opportunity to participate in a ladder match where victory could win them any one of several unique prizes... Its the chance of a career, promises the General Manager. Two tag teams will be given the same chance. Tonight and next week will be a chance for everyone on the roster to impress Mr. Tyler. Grade: A

Ota vs Bart Biggz A rather mundane opening match to the show, as the fans don't get particularly excited for it. The agent has a cell phone to her ear and she is clearly upset. It quickly becomes clear that the person that Chase is talking to is Eric Tyler. She states that this isn't what they agreed to, and that she feels betrayed by his choice. She then threatens to come upstairs and yell at him in person. She says that someone as talented as Big Money Brandon James deserves to be treated far better than this. As the camera pans around the manager, James can be seen inside the locker room. He's half-dressed, wearing partly of his ring gear and partly regular street clothes. He's simply kind of milling about the locker room. Spotting him doing nothing, Emma covers the phone long enough to yell at Brandon to finish getting ready for his match! Emma then goes back to yelling at Eric Tyler over the phone. The rant continues for several minutes. She warns that the GM better do the right thing, and that if he doesn't, he'll be really sorry when he finally sees her. Hanging up the cell phone as violently as possible, Chase steps back into the locker room... and she drops the phone in surprise... Brandon James Left to “get ready” for his match on his own, Brandon has somehow found his old face paint and began to apply his “Big Cat” face paint. Emma simply looks shocked at first, but she quickly recovers. She charges across the big locker room and knocks the face paint out of his hand. She shoves a towel in his face and demands that he removes it. When he doesn't move quickly enough, she begins to wipe down the face of the 335-pound big man, much like a mother caring for an oversized child. Emma wheels around suddenly at the sound of laughter. The quickness and athleticism of Reed is apparent, as he's outweighed by a full 100 pounds. Reed keeps moving throughout the match, urged on by Dani Nevada outside the ring, and he makes the big cowboy look slow and lumbering. Pete hammers on his smaller opponent when he does get ahold of him, and gets him up for his Long Star Powerbomb, but Reed squirms out of his grasp. A short time later, Reed surprises the 345-pounder with his Hang Time Moonsault, and locks in his Dread Lock finisher a short time later. Pete tries to get to the ropes or power out, but ends up submitting to give Reed a solid win. Frehley takes a long moment with a microphone in hand before he says anything. The Dark Destroyer says that he should probably be upset about Eric Tyler's announcement from earlier in the night. That he should feel slighted. But that's not his concern right now. His concern is about last week. About what happened between him and Laramee. The big former champion pauses for a moment, then says he's been told that Frehley suffered a severely broken forearm and will be out of action for at least a month if not longer. Another pause and a deep breath. Frehley says that he wants to apologize to Kurt Laramee. That he never met in injure him, and that he feels terrible. Frehley tells the fans that he will do his best tonight in the match against Holmes, but that sometimes you remember that there's more to worry about than winning and losing. With his head down, Frehley drops the microphone and heads out of the ring. Grade: B+
Melanie Florence: What happened to the angry bad*ss Frehley? He's all business in the ring, starting strong and punishing his opponent, as Emma Chase urges him on to finish the match quickly. James attempts to do just that, but its not as easy as Chase hopes. When he goes for a Big Cat Pounce, Pathlow slides beneath it and comes up with a big round house kick that catches Big Money flush on the jaw. The sturdy 225-pound lightweight unleashes a rabid series of blows that stun James further. The SWF newcomer gets the crowd behind him as he throws everything he can at James, going up to the top rope and hitting a big drop kick, but Big Money still just stumbles. Pathlow keeps trying, with Raven outside the ring urging him on. When Pathlow makes the mistake of launching himself at his opponent in a cross body block, James simply catches him and then slams him hard. The remainder of the match is all James, as he nails Pathlow with a huge Big Cat Pounce to get the pinfall victory. Rocky Golden starts the segment by mugging to the camera for a moment. He then tells the fans that its a face they better learn to love, because after Let the Games Begin, its going to be the face of the new SWF Supreme Champion. And the Legends brand will finally have someone who lives up to the name of that belt, rather than an embarrassment like Christian Faith. All Golden has to do is take care of business tonight and he'll get the chance he deserves. The Golden Boy then reminds fan that they were told last week about the Faction looking for new members. He doesn't expect they remember, as most of the fans aren't that smart. But if they do remember, then now is the time for one of those new members to be introduced. The man who is going to tear Troy Tornado apart tonight. A monster of a man, the kind of talent that couldn't be found within the SWF, so Golden had to ask Mr. Tyler to bring him in. He is... Rex... Rex A monster of a man steps out of the Supreme Gate and walks out onto the stage. The crowd hushes, marveling at his size and menace. Standing just under 7-feet tall, he is well over 350 pounds and a mass of muscle. The match stats off as a brawl, but Holmes starts to tie The Dark Destroyer up with a series of technical holds. Every time Frehley counters or powers out, Holmes has another one. Though the action slows a bit, the men maintain the intensity. Holmes manages to put Frehley in trouble as the big 295-pound ex-champion is rarely seen in. The crowd goes insane as Holmes hits an endless series of big suplexes, but Frehley is back up and battling again quickly. Holmes gets a big pop when Frehley tosses him over the top rope and he ends up skinning the cat right back in. The end comes suddenly, as Frehley hits Holmes with a flying shoulder block and then goes for his Dark Destroyer Spear. Holmes manages to partially avoid it, but ends up getting driven hard through the ropes and he lands awkwardly outside the ring. Frehley waits for Holmes to return to the ring, but Holmes is rolling around outside holding his shoulder. As referee Jay Fair starts counting, Frehley goes to get out of the ring to get Holmes back in, but the ref blocks him. Holmes ends up getting counted out. SWF medical officials soon come down to the ring to help Holmes. Frehley watches from the ring, wearing a concerned look similar to watch he wore last week after breaking Laramee's arm. The fans love it as Tornado attacks his huge opponent, throwing everything he has at the 6'11” giant just to get him off his feet. Rex manages to get plenty of offense in, battering Tornado with a series of power moves. The smaller underdog fights through it, and unleashes a series of power moves that do Rex in. Its a degree of aggressiveness from The Human Storm that thrills the crowd. It is a wicked Shooting Star Press by Tornado that allows him to get the pin. Looking worse for wear, Tornado grabs a microphone. He says that kind of win should be enough to impress Eric Tyler and earn Tornado a spot in the Supreme Games Ladder Match. The crowd certainly agrees. Tornado then says that since he seems the opponent for new workers to debut against, he'd love to face Sara Silver's Mr. Hill next week on SWF Legends. That is, if Mr. Hill and Ms. Silver are man enough... Tornado smirks as he drops the microphone and leaves the ring. Golden doesn't even get the in the ring before he's attacking Caufield with a chair. They brawl out of the ring, around the ring, into the crowd, and back into the ring. Both men end up bleeding after awhile. Both men go all out, including missing hitting a Philly Flop to the outside of the ring, catching the security barrier across the chest instead. Golden looks done when Caufield hits a Danger Drop DDT on the padding outside the ring, but he takes a chair shot from Kristen Pearce to prevent him from capitalizing. A couple more chair shots from Golden put The Hardcore American down, but he kicks out of several pin attempts. Golden gets his opponent up in The Rack and when Caufield refuses to submit, referee Ric Young eventually calls the match. Much of the match is about Acid looking good, showing off his insane high-flying work as he launches himself at the SWF Supreme champion continually. Faith seems capable of handling it, however, as the continual attacks from the 225-pound masked man don't really put the champion in any real danger. The fans enjoy it, even though they know Acid has little to no chance to win. Faith catches Acid as he attempts an Acid Rain Bomb senton bomb and gives him a hard slam instead. The champion takes control from there, and pins the challenger after a Leap of Faith. He doesn't head down to the ring, but instead stands atop the stage. He addresses the crowd from there. Vibert says that the wrestling industry has plenty of selfish, slimy, and even downright despicable individuals. Its the kind of business where honestly seems to be worse option, where those willing to commit the worst sins end up profiting the most. He says that he misses the good old days, when at least people were honest about being dishonest. Where at least getting blatantly caught in lie wouldn't result in more lies. Vibert says that Payne and Adrian Garcia might have it right – that there is a corruption running through the Supreme Wrestling Federation... and it is a corruption that starts at the very top. With Richard Eisen. The creative consultant tells the fans that he presented the evidence he was given about Eisen's role in Skull DeBones becoming Vengeance not because he was expecting Eisen to be punished. But simply because he hoped that the owner of the company could at least be honest about it. About what he had done to one of his employees, to the extent that his desire for control extended. But apparently Richard Eisen is simply not capable of being honest... He then trails off... Bryan Holmes, JD Morgan + Acid Vibert is joined on the stage by three men – Bryan Holmes, JD Morgan, and Acid. Still in his ring gear, Holmes has his shoulder in a sling. But both Morgan and the still-sweaty Acid are in fighting shape. Holmes snatches the microphone away from Vibert. With a robotic monotone delivery, Holmes says that Vibert should have listened to the warnings and kept his mouth shut. Acid stands in front of Vibert, waving a finger in his face right before he knocks Vibert down with a right hand. Morgan and Acid lay into the former owner of DaVE, as Holmes directs them. Faith, Caufield, and Tornado race through the Supreme Gate to make the save. None of the three rescuers are in great shape, though, and Morgan and Acid choose to right back rather than retreat. Holmes can't do much with his shoulder in a sling, but he tries. The brawl on the stage and ramp continues for several minutes before SWF security officials break it up. Grade: A
Duane Fry: Phil! A few notes... -two A matches and a B+... Yeah, I gotta book a bit more carefully. While I'm sure the fans would love that amount of quality wrestling on the show, its just overkill. There were three other matches on the card that could've been the main event easily enough. Ah well, its a very nice problem to have... -I think I have a habit of jobbing guys on their debut... At least I didn't really hype Rex coming in... The big man has been at RIPW since January as he has improved drastically. He could probably be a drop-in replacement for Vengeance once his overness grows, beyond the Athleticism and Stamina. Its not my intent for him to be a monster heel, at least for the first while anyway, so I didn't have any issue having him lose on his debut. For the moment, he's another imposing member of the Golden Faction and will form a tag team with Texas Pete. Rex & Tex perhaps? -been wanting to do the "Big Cat" thing for a bit, and it seemed like a good time to finally pull it out.

Wait, wait... wait... how much has Rex improved? In what areas? I mean, an A match with Troy Tornado. I thought Troy would have at best carried him to a C+ match. But an A? Have you tried to use the "get into shape" for development? Athleticism isn't exactly a killer in the SWF. It hurts, but it's not the most important stat for the SWF. Question is, how about his stamina? How bad is it? Is it like Hell Bouncer, where he runs out of gas in 8 minutes (initial default stats)? As for getting good grades... I usually end up with worst, with bunch of C's and B's, with the main event being a B+, which *barely* gets me B+ rating for the overall show. :)

One of the better ones that I've seen, though he did improve in a similar manner in another SWF test game. That one just didn't run as long as this one has. I'm a little concerned that I called him earlier than I would have liked. I would've preferred to wait until he was B- in Psychology, but the timing worked so he came up a bit quicker. The A match with Tornado was a bit surprising. But Tornado is turning into one of my more reliable performers and I attribute it to him more than anything else. Pretty sure he's up to A* popularity across the board. Regarding show grades, what kind of overness and momentum do your main eventers have? Pretty important to have both to consistently get good match ratings, I find. It also helps in angle segments.

Well, I'm not as good as a booker as you are. And quite frankly, I really, really, really hate dealing with Eric Eisen. I don't dislike him personally, but this guy really isn't main eventer-quality wrestler. In any case, D+ in Stamina? Yeesh. I'd want at least a C-. You haven't tried to make him "get into shape" through development?

Agree on Eisen, but there are ways around that... don't actually use him in a main eventer role. I just checked and he's actually pretty close to C- in stamina. Never even looked into that before calling him. I'm not too concerned about it, as it will only come into play to a big extent when he gets a singles push, and that's not going to be a for a bit. Should be able to get him up to the C range by then. A stint at RIPW to get into shape is a possibility, but we'll see what I can do before going that route.

SWF.com: Top Ten Thursday, Week 1, October 2008 SWF.com introduces a brand new monthly feature, a Top Ten of the Supreme Wrestling Federation roster! The list will appear on the website at the end of each month. The rankings are based off of fan voting on the website and the opinions of several SWF.com staffers. The rankings are based on won-loss records, opponents, match quality, and those intangible "style points". And remember fans - this all just for fun!
1. Rich Money SWF World Heavyweight Champion Its no surprise that Hard Cash takes the top spot again this month. The man might be despicable at times, but he is very good at what he does. And what he does best is win. He scored a big one this month, as he defeated Jack Bruce in the Supreme Cell at Under Control 2008. There as a solid win over Pistol Hall. And let's not forget the classic match against SWF North American champion Antonio Marquez. October was another good month in what has been a very good year for Mr. Money.

2. Christian Faith SWF Supreme Champion Professional wrestlers aren't like fine wine... they aren't supposed to get better with age. There are rare exceptions, and Christian Faith must be the rarest of the those. The 42-year old looks to be in the form of his career, as he defends his SWF Supreme Championship week after week and does so in the highest-quality matches. The man who has given more than two decades to the Supreme Wrestling Federation remains the rock upon which the Legends brand is built.

3. Sean McFly There are few wrestlers who could make it into the SWF.com Top Ten without having wrestled a match through the month, let alone make it the third spot. Sean McFly is obviously not most wrestlers. After making a big debut - well, re-debut - at Under Control 2008, McFly had every SWF fan buzzing. He suffered a vicious beatdown at the hands of Rich Money in Week 4, but looks set to face the SWF World Heavyweight champion at Let the Games Begin 2008.

4. Bruce may have lost in the Supreme Cell to Rich Money, but he put in a helluva fight.

5. Remo The Alpha Dog remained just one step behind his close friend Rich Money. There are many who feel that the Remo might actually be the number one contender for the SWF World Heavyweight championship, but that doesn't seem like a match we are likely to see anytime soon.

6. Angry Gilmore The highlight of the month for Gilmore was a win over Acid at Under Control 2008. Though he didn't otherwise face the toughest competition, that can't be held against the talented Canadian.

7. That expulsion has seen Tornado surpass his former stable mates and he looks set for a bright future in the Supreme Wrestling Federation.

8. Steve Frehley The Dark Destroyer continues to be a dominant force in the Supreme Wrestling Federation. Though the former world champion has gained a notable "edge" in recent months, he remains a favorite of the SWF fans.

9. Still, its tough to ignore the talent and dominance of the big man.

10. Pistol Pete Hall Pistol Pete came up short against SWF World Heavyweight champion Rich Money, but he scored a big win over Rocky Golden. It was a good month for the veteran, who continues to win over the fans here in the SWF with his old school hard hitting manner. News, rumors, and interviews, all brought to you by the incomparable Duane Fry. Preview for podcast available Monday, Week 2, October 2008 "SWF Let the Games Begin 2008 is only days away. The pay per view is going to be huge, with Rich Money defending the SWF World Heavyweight championship against Sean McFly and Angry Gilmore faces Remo. But there will be so much more than that." "There are plenty of matches yet to be decided for the pay per view, and tomorrow night's SWF Supreme TV should provide many of those answers. We will found out who will participate in the Supreme Games 6-man ladder match. Which tag teams will represent the Supreme brand in the Supreme Games four-team tag ladder match? And who will face Sin Inc for the SWF World Tag Team Championships?" "It will be either Valiant & Giedroyc or The New Wave to face Sin Inc for the tag belts. To decide, the former champions will take on Guide and Scout on Supreme TV. The winning team becomes the number one contenders and will face Joe Sexy and John McClean." "One of the spots in the Supreme Games ladder match will be up for grabs in a four-way match. It will pit Jay Chord against Flex Garcia against Ace Newton against Blood Elderberry. The winner gets one of the six spots. As for the other five participants, we don't know yet. Richard Eisen might be able to shed some light on it." "Randy and Zimmy Bumfhole made a special request this week, to face promising young tag tandem Swoop McCarthy and Kirk Jameson, known as Team Neptune. Not sure what's behind this challenge, but its likely that the former SWF World Tag Team champions have their reasons." "Current SWF World Tag Team champions Sin Inc will be action... but not together. John McClean has boldly requested to face former SWF World Heavyweight champion Jack Bruce, and that request was granted. Joe Sexy, meanwhile, faces Angry Gilmore. Speaking of Jack Bruce, the Long Island Angel still doesn't have an opponent yet for the pay per view..." "The main event will see Sean McFly in action again, as The American Tiger takes on the Canadian youngster Marc DuBois. This one should be a great match and should be enough to get fans to tune in." "Don't forget to catch Supreme TV on C.A.N.N. every Tuesday night!"
The Fry Report will be available on SWF.com or directly from iTunes.
A special feature for the Fry Report... Double Deuce vs Los Diablos Right now Los Diablos are getting a reasonable push, Double Deuce on the other hand are pure job fodder The Immortal Bumfholes vs Team Gilmore (Swoop McCarthy + Kirk Jameson) Bumfholes might no longer be in the World Title picture but they aren't about to drop so far down the card, that they are going to lose to non established talents like Swoop & Jameson Blood Elderberry vs Ace Newton vs Flex Garcia vs Jay Chord One guy out of this lot is getting a pretty good push right now, it's not Blood Eldeberry. Enforcer Roberts vs Chris Morrisette Actually a tough call, Roberts got a solid win last month and Morrisette seems a bit directionless at the moment. I'm going to call for the mild upset here and the seeds to possibly be sown for a sloooooww Morrisette heel turn, as his frustration continues to grow. Valiant & Giedroyc vs The New Wave Coin flip, as either team will be credible challengers but I think New Wave will pull out the win here, just because in terms of a straight 2 vs 2, they would provide a fresher match up and the threefold thing has been done already. Joe Sexy vs Angry Gilmore Jack Bruce vs John McClean SIN Inc might be succesful in Tag action right now but in singles they'll do the job. Marc DuBois vs Sean McFly Another win for McFly over an up and coming 'next Generation' talent as he looks to build momentum towards his World Title show down with Rich Money.
