The first thing was the decision to move The Kings Road TV Show onto Tuesday to be shown live on Japanese Sports Vision, the second was the PPV contract with J-Remote 1 for an evaluation period of six months with the option to renew for longer. The Japanese Wrestle Peace Festival, the show that marked the end of the year with all Japanese promotions, was a huge success for Pride as the show recieved the Card of the Year (9/10 with 16,800 + PPV Buys) and the Match of the Year of Eiasku Hoshino vs Buddy Garner (10/10) which was on the undercard of Miwa defending the Glory Crown against both Tatsuko and Mushashibo to go into 2006 as the Glory Crown holder since January 2005. The Vessey Brothers also became Glory Tag Crown holders on the undercard, the other title changes were Ryoma Muruyama becoming the International champion and Team Strength Rush becoming the International tag team champions.
The Kings Road continued to get 450,000 plus viewers on Japanese Sports Vision and pulling out 9/10 rated shows most of the month. At the January PPV, Night of PRIDE, Muruyama and Sanda continued their reigns as International and Historical Japan champions respectively. The Tag Division continued to be hotly contested with Team Toronto taking the International Tag titles and The Vessey Brothers keeping hold of the Glory Tag Crown. Garner and Hoshino produced another classic 10/10 match and were joined by the Contenders match between Mushashibo and Tatsuko in the 10/10 category. The Main Event saw Mito Miwa go into his second year as Glory Crown Holder by overcoming the challenge of Eisaku Kunomasu (9/10) to leave the Night of PRIDE with a 9/10 overall rating and nearly 19,000 PPV Buys on the J-Remote 1 service.
Both men were involved in 9/10 matches building up to the ultimate match at FORTITUDE. Pure Pride isn't alone in thinking that this match should've been saved for Night of GLORY in April as the match deserves to be played on a greater stage. When Pride reached FORTITUDE in the middle of February many thought that Miwa and Mushashibo would put on the Match of the Year but the main event only recieved a 9/10 rating and the general belief was that they were saving the big match for Night of GLORY two months down the Kings Road. The event, held in front of nearly 15,000 people in Hokkaido and a further 17,000 on PPV, did, however, see the changing hands of the Glory Crown for the first time in the 13 months. Mito Miwa, who had defeated Tatsuko in January 2005, finally succumbed to the ever present challenge of Yoshimi Mushashibo, the now 3-Time Glory Crown winner. We also saw The Vessey Brothers unify the Glory Tag Crown and the International Tag Team titles with a victory of Team Toronto, Eisaku Hoshino defeated Buddy Garner in the rubber match of their three match series and earn himself the right to face Mushashibo at BARRAGE in March.
The Night began with a display of the new Super Junior division with Washichi Inao defeating Snap Dragon and Magnum Kobe to become the first ever Junior Japan champion in Pride (4/10) Akinori Kwakami defeated Ryoma Muruyama in 6:50 by pinfall with a Yakuza Kick. Akinori Kwakami wins the PGHW International title ending Muruyama's reign that began in December. (6/10) Team Toronto defeated The Vessey Brothers and Team Strength Rush in a three-way Tag match for the Glory Tag Crown, Bryan and Larry Vessey were obviously upset with one another, perhaps leading to a fued in the future. (8/10) Noriyori Sanda defeated PRIDE Koiso and Kozue Kawashima in 8:13 when he pinned Kawashima after a Dynamo Flying Elbow. Sanda makes defence number 14 of his PGHW Historical Japan title since December and continues to dominate the division. (8/10) Buddy Garner defeated Eisaku Kunomasu in 14:08 by submission with a Choke Sleeper in what was basically a filler match but proved why these two must be on the card. (9/10) Shuji Inukai defeated Dread in 8:44 by pinfall with an Inukai Driver, the veteran showing obvious signs of age and putting over Shuji well here. (8/10) Mito Miwa defeated Nobuatsu Tatsuko in 17:35 by pinfall with a Pride Bomber to become Number One Contender for Mushashibo's Glory Crown in a surprisingly poor match for the pair's standards. (7/10) The Main Event saw, quite possibly, the Match of the Year as Yoshimi Mushashibo defeated Eisaku Hoshino in 29:55 by submission with a Yoshimi Lock to make his 6th defence of his Glory Crown. (10/10) The Show ended on a high and was another great showing of Pride at its Best (9/10) and achieving another 17,000 PPV Buys on the J-Remote 1 service. He have also recieved word that Snap Dragon suffered a Minor Concussion at BARRAGE, it is unknown when he will make his return to the Super Junior division.
The show began with former Glory Crown winner Mito Miwa, who is now the Number One Contender challenge Mushashibo for his Glory Crown at Night of Glory, Yoshimi came out and accepted and the match was set. (9/10) The first match sees Akinori Kwakami defeat William Hayes in 2:33 by pinfall with a Yakuza Kick, making his 1st defence of the PGHW International title. (6/10) Washichi Inao defeated American Elemental in 2:32 by pinfall, making the 1st defence of his PGHW Junior Japan title. (4/10) Team Toronto defeated The Vessey Brothers in 4:52 when Alexander Robinson defeated Larry Vessey by pinfall after a miscommunication between The Vessey Brothers, Bryan was very upset with Larry and walked out on his brother. (8/10) In a semi-rematch from BARRAGE, PRIDE Koiso defeated Noriyori Sanda in 8:07 by pinfall with a Koiso Kutter, Koiso wins the PGHW Historical Japan title for the first time and ends Sanda's 14 match defence streak. (7/10) However, the half way stage of the show saw the fans get a welcomed surprise. The 3-Time Glory Crown winner, Yoshimi Mushashibo, came to the ring and told the audience that he was to defend his Crown against former winner Nobuatsu Tatsuko in a 30 Minute Iron Man match! Mushashibo took the match by a close two-falls to one victory and made his 7th defence of his Glory Crown, perhaps in a better match even than at BARRAGE. (10/10) The Show recieved an overall rating of 9/10 and was live in front of 7,000 fans in Hokkaido and a further 435,000 on Television.
