NEO Breakthrough

Quick Picks

#1 Contender: Dazzling Dave Diamond vs. Fearless Blue vs. Sensational Singh vs. Xavier Reckless

hmm.. except Reckless anyone is a potential good contender

Non-Title: Brandon Smith vs. Brimstone

keeping the champion's win streak intact

Kathy Neptune vs. Mark Smart

an upset?

Ben Williams vs. Sayeed Ali

Ali is just superior right now

I don't know if it's only me, but I always find it odd and plainly wrong seeing men against women. So, it turned me away from this diary at first.

At least, they didn't get any big win (Ben Williams, Mark Smart and Mad Dog Mortimer are nothing extraordinary).

The concept and writing style is pretty good and I'll keep reading.

NEO Breakthrough

Saturday, Week 4, July 2008

18 people at the Ohio Jewish Center

Sayeed Ali defeated Ben Williams in 8:06 by pinfall with a G.B.H. Driver. - E

Notes: Ben Williams was exhausted by the end. The color commentary gave the match a boost. This match brought the crowd's mood down.

Amber Allen, Dharma Gregg, Jen Neptune, and Kathy Neptune argue over who would actually win a swimsuit contest if the person who ran it wasn't a sleaze ball like Mad Dog Mortimer. - D+

Mark Smart defeated Kathy Neptune in 4:41 by pinfall with a Smart Attack. - E-

Notes: The announcing quality lifted the match. The color commentary gave the match a boost. This match brought the crowd's mood down.

Brandon Smith defeated Brimstone in 10:46 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver. - E+

Notes: The colour commentary gave the match a boost. This match brought the crowd's mood down.

Brandon Smith cuts a promo on how he's proud to say he's the first ever NEO Generation champion and says he's going to be a fighting champion, taking on all comers. This brings out the man he defeated in the finals of the NEO Generation tournament, Sayeed Ali. Sayeed gives Smith the universal sign for "I'm taking that title" before heading to the back. - D

Notes: The Generation Title Scene storyline has continued with this segment.

Sensational Singh defeated Dazzling Dave Diamond, Fearless Blue and Xavier Reckless in 14:41 when Sensational Singh defeated Fearless Blue by pinfall with a Cal-Cutter. - E

Notes: Dazzling Dave Diamond was visibly tiring toward the end. The color commentary gave the match a boost. The Generation Title Scene storyline has continued with this match. This match brought the crowd's mood down.

Overall: E+

Show Notes: Oh the things I do for story telling. I knew that Smith was going to carry Brimstone to a main event level match (that's why I put the belt on him), but I made the number one contender's match the final match anyway. I'm just lucky I didn't have the misfortune of it effecting the overall grade anymore than it did. Of course thinking about it now, maybe I should have switched the matches since Brandon's speech and his confrontation with Ali would have been the "main event." Oh well, I can't change the past.

The segments were both self created six minute angles. The argument between the women was a four person argument angle that was based on sex appeal and the Smith/Sayeed argument was really the same angle as the "spliced promo." I was too lazy to make another one. :o

Always glad to see a new face commenting on my diary, though I'm not sure why you would find it wrong for a local promotion having women and men competing again each other. It's quite common in the real world for this to happen, especially when the women are highly talented like Cheerleader Melissa or Lufisto. Hell, I thought I'd get more flack for using females from Babes of Sin City than using women in general.

What a boring month this was. I don't even have an interesting side note from the game like a weird tag team coming together with an even weirder tag name. So I guess I'll give out a share something that I do for myself just about every game in the C-Verse and that is theme music. Whether or not you plan to make it apart of your diary or if you are new to the C-Verse in general, theme music is very helpful when figuring or fleshing out the character of the workers you have on your roster. Here are the "themes" I've given to the NEO roster:

Brandon Smith: "Land Of Confusion" - Disturbed

Sayeed Ali: "Hip Hop Is Dead" - Nas

Sensational Singh: "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" - Neil Diamond

Dazzling Dave Diamond: "Superstition" - Jeff Beck

Amber Allen: "Misery Business" - Paramore

Startune Productions: "Supermassive Black Hole" - Muse

Fearless Blue: "Forgotten" - Linkin Park

Xavier Reckless: "Straight Outta Compton" - N.W.A.

Dharma Gregg: "You Really Got Me" - The Kinks

Internet Wrestling Connection: "Eye Of The Tiger" - Survivor

The American Flash: "Team America Theme" - Team America

Mad Dog Mortimer: "Love Rollercoaster" - Ohio Player's Club

Brimstone: "This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song" - System Of A Down

Most of these don't really need explaining, but I would like to note that "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" would be an awesome theme song for a ****y, pretty boy heel in real life. Could you image the heat you could generate with a guy who comes out to this song and then proceeds to hit on every female in the crowd. Nothing gets heat like belittling the manhood of the men in the audience.

Show Thoughts: And that's how you crack into the D- range baby! I'm not sure how I've stunted the growth of Sensational Singh due to his, and Allen's, poor start. But no matter what his momentum is, Singh still brings the goods. Oh, and for those of you wonder why there was a rematch. I screwed up. I was suppose to have had Mark Smart go over Jen Neptune, but for some reason I mixed the two twins up in my head when booking the match. Then again I haven't pulled an infinitywpi yet and pick the wrong winner yet.

After the match it seems Brandon Smith needs time to heal due to his work with WLW (3 shows a week? 3 shows a week!?), but of course gets another offer to tour with WLW which he will no doubt take. I know I said I was happy about Smith's touring with WLW, but now I'm not so sure. The company seems to be running him straight into the ground. And the fact he works for MAW and us back to back probably doesn't help matters much either.

We also had another Xavier Reckless incident (joy!). This time he got into a heated argument with a fan. I went with reading him the riot act. He responds with "I can't believe you're making this into such a big deal, nothing even happened." The odd thing is that he's still totally happy according to the "talk to worker" page though. Whatever.

I'd also like to know what you guys think of the new setup. I've always liked the banner I made of so long ago and the 50% sized title seems to fit, not to mention make it clear when a match is for the title. However, I'm not so sure about the pictures of the wrestlers. What do you guys think?

The reason for the increase in funds was because of the increase in attendance and a major increase in merchandise revenue. It's not much of an increase and I'm still not going to be bring in lots of expensive faces, but it's definitely a start in the right direction.

After a strong defeat against Brandon Smith, Sensational Singh hits E- popularity in the Great Lakes region. And that's even with his crappy momentum. Always nice to see another one of my top guys getting more popular.

And with eight months in the books it's time to re-sign my roster. I would love to tell you who I've re-signed now, but since some of them aren't going to be back, I'll save that for next month's review. But since all of the non-wrestlers will be back, here what they'll re-signed for:

Martin Theocott - $200

Reese Paige - $400

Jonathan Taylor - $350

I haven't said it before, but I love how this game works with contracts. It's a way more rewarding experience from previous years. Sure it's more challenging dealing with some of the wrestlers in the game, but this game does something that I've been wanting for sometime. Actually I should say it's what this game does do. In games past you'd never always have to jump one level in payment each time contract signings came up. This isn't the case this time around and people will even take pay cuts.

He leads them through a standard bikini contest - taking turns to wow the audience - before letting the crowd decide who wins. Amber Allen is announced as the unlikely winner. Show Thoughts: This was everything Crowning A Champion wasn't. The event has swept the board in terms of being the best card, the most attended show, and the best match (Smith and Ali's title match). The only sad things about this night was that it was that it was the end of the Fearless Blue/Xavier Reckless feud. Why? Because Reckless didn't want to listen to a 3rd offer and didn't re-sign with NEO. :(

Since it's not going to happen, I guess I'll just tell you guys what was suppose to happen with Fearless Blue & Xavier Reckless. Originally, the argument from The Elephant & The Bull was suppose to end in them agreeing that the loser would have to wear a Halloween costume of the others' choice at the October show. Fearless was going to win, partly because it would tie up the series, but mostly so I could use this alt:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/NEO/XavierReckless_alt1.jpg

Anyway, their initial feud was going to end in December or January, with a Loser Leaves NEO match. Reckless was going to end up winning. Blue would then get a gimmick change and come back under a mask, preferably something that everyone would know it's him like this alt:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/NEO/FearlessBlue_alt5.jpg

Whether or not the two would go into another feud would be up to how long I'd be "stuck" at the local level, though I love running a good "masked wrestler" angle. Speaking off those types of storylines, shipshirt ran a great one with his Championship Wrestling from Boston diary. This is not to be confused with his other great CWB diary.

On a side note, Xavier Reckless was pissed off about losing to Fearless. Maybe you shouldn't have crapped on my 2nd offer jerkoff! The segment with Startune Productions me being lazy again. It was actually the AR - 1v1 with authority figure, which is probably something I am going to use for them in the future as well.

Doh. That feud the way you explain it would have been pretty interesting.

He wasn't that talented though and was quite bland outside this feud, so it might be an opportunity to bring a new face to the roster.

After the victory, Dazzling Dave Diamond goes into the E- range and Singh drops back to F+. Such is the way of wrestling. Anyway, with the show over it's time to reveal who re-signed and what they re-signed for.

Brandon Smith - $600

Dharma Gregg - $150

Kathy Neptune - $150

Xavier Reckless - IS A DOUCHE

Ben Williams - $150

Brimstone - $150

Jefferson Stardust - $150

Jen Neptune - $150 (forgot she signed in February)

Mad Dog Mortimer - $150

Mark Smart - Thought he was worth $250

Sayeed Ali - $600

The American Flash - $150

Fearless Blue - $100

Amber Allen - $150

Kashmir Singh - $500

Dazzling Dave Diamond - $450

So, Xavier Reckless and Mark Smart are out. To replace the duo I've brought in the female powerhouse, Mary Beth Chase, to replace the spot of Reckless left and totally replacing Mark Smart will be the plucky, Keith Vegas. Both MBC and Vegas signed at $150 an appearance.

And since this is clearly becoming more than just a side project, I am going to start adding a bit more kayfabe into the diary (though I'm still going to keep reporting the game play as well).

Show Thoughts: Yeah, I should have saw this one coming. There is a reason why you shouldn't have had a four man match with my top four guys when they are the only four draws in the company. You're undercard is going to be horrible and in turn will drag down the card. Thinking about it some more, I probably should have just have Singh interfere last month and had a 3 way with Triple D in a competitive squash. Not only would if have made getting a D- rating more likely, but since Diamond beat Singh, it could build to a nice face/face match between Triple D and Smith in November. Oh well, crap happens and you just have to roll with it.

With the signings completed last month, it was a pretty silent month. Here's are some random news and notes:

• More friendly relationships pop up for NEO this month. Reese Paige and Sayeed Ali and Ben Williams and Dharma Gregg are now strong friends.

• Champagne Lover signed a developmental contract with SWF and was called up all in the same month.

• In another awesomely odd moment, Barry Kingman signs with NOTBPW under his Dork the Evil Clown gimmick. His father must be so proud.

• Finally in a sad moment for anyone who has read Tigerkinney's BHOTWG's diary, Optimus retires from wrestling.

News And Notes

• To decide who will face Brandon Smith in the final title match of our final show of the year, Unwanted Gifts, there will be a number one contender's match between Dazzling Dave Diamond, Sayeed Ali, and Sensational Singh.

• Unhappy with how the bikini contest ended two months ago, The Neptune Twins have challenged Amber Allen to a wrestling match to get some revenge. Allen has accepted the challenge and the three will meet in a 3-way.

Show Thoughts: Not much to see here in terms of big ratings as this show was mainly used to build up the hype for our December show, Unwanted Gifts, and, of course, building up Mary Beth Chase as the powerful woman she is. Still I was kind of hoping that the main event and six minute menace based hype video for Smith & Sayeed's Last Man Standing match would equal a D-, but then again I could have added Smith to the card and guaranteed it so I really shouldn't complain.

Then again, looking at the match results, I probably could have gotten a D- by having Blue/Brimstone be the 2nd match on the card and the 3-way as the semi-main event.

I can't believe we are already on the last show of 2008. It seems like it was only 13 days ago went I started this diary. Hey, it was only 13 days ago when I started the diary! All kidding aside, this diary has been really fun for me to write, mainly because the style is really easy for me to write, but also because it seems other people are enjoying it even though it's no where near the quality of some of my favorite diaries (which I have kindly spammed through out this diary for everyone else to enjoy :)) when it comes to the matches and promos Though, you will probably see the detail of the segments increase as the diary continues.

News and Notes

• Hey look. It's a promotion that's not me rising in size. European Wrestling All-Stars rises from local to small.

• It's a fine day in the Cornell household as TCW owner Tommy Cornell's younger cousin, Edward Cornell, signs with England's 3rd biggest promotion, Ring of Fire.

Unwanted Gifts

News And Notes

• The last main event of the year is a match that is a year in the making. Smith and Sayeed have found themselves facing over against each other in singles completion two times earlier this year, once with Smith winning and the other ending in a draw. Both men say they have the drive and desire to be champion and tonight we are going to find out who has more as these two go toe to toe in a Last Man Standing Match.

• Always the loudmouth, Jefferson Stardust has decided to take it upon himself and help end Ben Williams "perfect" year vowing to give Ben Williams his 9th loss of the year in 9 contests. Will Stardust come out on top or can Ben Williams score a major upset and end the year on a high note?

Quick Picks

NEO Generation - Last Man Standing: Brandon Smith © vs. Sayeed Ali

Fearless Blue vs. Sensational Singh

Amber Allen & Triple D vs. Mad Dog Mortimer & Mary Beth Chase

Freaking Edward Cornell... I tried to sign him a month after his debut for my ROF. He asked for a main-eventer level of money, travel expenses paid and low-level title run... He's now on my little blacklist with Keith Adams (gd he's a whiny prick!) and it will take quite some time before they work for me... or for anyone else really.

Back to this awesome diary, there are my picks :

Brandon Smith over Sayeed Ali, it's just no Ali's time yet.

Sensational Singh over Fearless Blue

Mad Dog & MBC over Amber & Dave, MBC will put Mad Dog in his place and win this one all by herself

Jefferson Stardust over Ben Williams.

Amber Allen and Dazzling Dave Diamond defeated Mad Dog Mortimer and Mary Beth Chase in 6:52 when Amber Allen defeated Mad Dog Mortimer by pinfall with a Northern Lights Suplex. - E

Notes: Amber Allen has now switched to a Tomboy gimmick. It has gotten an initial C+ rating. Mary Beth Chase seemed off her game tonight. The color commentary gave the match a boost. This match brought the crowd's mood down.

After their match, Dazzling Dave Diamond and Amber Allen comment on how good of a team they make. Amber Allen says that she's much happier actually wrestling on shows than all those bikini segments. She mentions that getting dolled up and laying down on the beach isn't really her thing and she'd rather be at home in her sweats watching some football and drinking a beer. Breaking the 4th wall, Dave turns to the camera, puts his hands together like he's about to pray, and mouths "Thank you God." Triple D then turns back, puts his arm around Allen, and asks her whether she prefers the 3-4 or 4-3 defense as the segment ends. - E

Ben Williams defeated Jefferson Stardust in 5:48 by pinfall with a roll up. - E-

Notes: Ben Williams and Jefferson Stardust have pretty good chemistry, and it lifted the match. The announcing quality lifted the match. The color commentary gave the match a boost. This match brought the crowd's mood down.

Backstage, Jefferson Stardust is irate after giving Ben Williams his first win. Jen and Kathy Neptune come to console him. Just as they have Stardust to the point where he's just about to calm down, they verbally rip him apart. The line of the segment came from Jen Neptune when she said that, "Maybe the movie "Revenge of the Nerds" was right nerds really "do it" better." - E+

Sensational Singh defeated Fearless Blue in 9:28 by pinfall with a Cal-Cutter. - E

Notes: Sensational Singh has now switched to a Bitter Veteran gimmick. It has gotten an initial B+ rating. Fearless Blue and Sensational Singh don't seem to click, and it made for an awkward bout. The color commentary gave the match a boost. This match brought the crowd's mood down.

A hype video for Brandon Smith and Sayeed Ali. The video chronicles their entire feud, from meeting in the finals of the NEO Generation title tournament, their draw at Stepping Up, and the fatal four way match at Hallowed Dreams. - D+

Last Man Standing

Brandon Smith defeated Sayeed Ali in 17:57 when Sayeed Ali could not beat a ten count after a Backdrop Driver. Brandon Smith makes defense number 3 of his NEO Generation title. - D-

Notes: Martin Theocott and Reese Paige have pretty good chemistry when calling matches together. This match brought the crowd's mood down.

Overall: D-

Show Thoughts: Well, it wasn't as good as their draw at Stepping Up apparently, but I think this is a strong end to the first year. I thought Blue/Singh would have gotten a E+, but considering they got bad chemistry, I really couldn't have asked for better results. I'm also happy with the gimmick changes for both Amber Allen and Sensational Singh. While slightly different from their original gimmicks, they are still close enough to where I really don't have to change their characters very much.

I'm especially happy with the way the mini-feud between Stardust and Williams went. As you probably saw since Reckless and Smart left the company, I was a little unprepared on what to do with the undercard now that Reckless/Blue's feud was cut short. Thankfully, I noticed that Ben didn't have a win when I was trying to think of a something. The fact that they have great chemistry is just gravy. It's too bad I have something planned for both men or I could have turned this into a longer feud. Oh well, I can always go back to Williams/Stardust when they are more over and have improved their skills. I'm pretty sure The Neptune Twins aren't going to let Jefferson Stardust forget this moment. ;)

they're both losing to Amber Allen. Coincidence or a planned thing? hehe.

Heh. I thought that was pretty funny too, but though they play bitches on DVD, in C-Verse real life the Neptunes are freaking angels. Both are considered humble, compassionate, optimistic, dependable, extremely social, and loyal and Kathy is also generous. To be honest, they are also natural faces.

NEO Great Beginnings 2009

NEO Notes

• Brandon Smith might have picked up an injury overseas while working with WLW, but he's stated that a little Chronic Shoulder Pain it's going to stop him from defending the title. Taking on the champion for the first time is NEO's "knight in bearded armor" Dazzling Dave Diamond. Will Triple D become the next NEO Generation champion or will Smith be able to overcome his injury and retain the title?

• During Ben Williams' internet radio show, the unstable Brimstone snapped during his interview and attacked Williams. Resulting from that confrontation the two will meet in singles competition.

Quick Picks

Overall: E

Show Thoughts: Well Great Beginnings didn't get off to a great start and it's pretty much my fault. Even though WLW was the promotion that has been killing him with their schedule, I guess I could have switched the main event to...umm...nothing really as Triple D/Sensational Singh just happened! And to be honest, I guess part of me just wanted to see what actually happens when someone wrestles with an injury. Well now I know.

Speaking of injuries, Fearless Blue broke his ribs in his match with Sayeed Ali and is going to work through them. Thankfully, he doesn't have any other commitments so he won't have the chance of working through them and possibly hurting himself further.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the show. I'm finally going to get to move forward with the "Him" storyline and the Smith's injury has given me an idea to bridge NEO from local to small.

End Of The Month: January 2009

End of the Month Notes

• Popularity: +0.4% (8.8%) Great Lakes

We are finally zeroing in on the jump to small. While I could wait till I rise to small to bring some better wrestlers, this is still a diary and I'd rather not do something super gamey. Plus if I hold off on guys now I'll have to ramp up my current feuds which means by the time I am at small level I'll have to come up with totally new storylines. And I'm lazy, so that's out.

So with all this ranting done it's time to announce NEO's newest wrestler, "The Teen Dream" Brendon Idol. The young Idol signed for $500 and will be coming in as a babyface since that is what he naturally is. We've also signed a manager for $100. Both will be debuting at NEO's February show, Rejections Cold.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a288/foolinc/NEO/BrendanIdol.jpg

And the news I've been dreading finally happens. Our top face and NEO Generation champion, Brandon Smith, has finally been brought to his breaking point and tears a knee ligament. He'll be out for a month. It's a good thing I didn't actually plan to have him wrestle this month because I thought Triple D/Singh and Brendon Idol's debut could carry the show and because of the whole working with an injury thing that happened last month.

And NEO once again drops in the ranking because Canadian Women's Wrestling Federation have finally opened. The owner of this new all female federation? Steve freaking Flash.

And guess which big name Canadian legacy isn't re-signing with their father's company? If you guessed Dan Stone Jr. turns down NOTBPW, you'd be right.

Rejections Cold

• After getting into an argument over the best technical wrestler in NEO, Amber Allen, Triple D and Sensational Singh face off in a main event grudge match.

• Speaking of Amber Allen, she takes on the undefeated Mary Beth Chase. Will the streak continue or can Allen's technical ability be able to overcome the brute strength of Mary Beth Chase?

• Brendon Idol makes his debut against a man who's been a bit down after losing to the lowly Ben Williams in Jefferson Stardust. Can Jefferson pick up his game or will Brendon Idol start on his way to the top of the NEO charts?

Quick Picks

Dazzling Dave Diamond vs. Sensational Singh

Brendon Idol vs. Jefferson Stardust

Amber Allen vs. Mary Beth Chase

The American Flash vs. Brimstone vs. Keith Vegas vs. Mad Dog Mortimer
