QOTC: Queens of the Cage

Recommended Posts

http://home.comcast.net/~downer28/Q-CAGE.jpg

Philosophy:

Queens Cage will focus entirely on exciting, strike-based, lightweight women fighters. As such, with a few exceptions, only fighters with a 'D' in 'Fight of the Night' will be accepted. Additionally, fighters must be versed in strike-based fighting and have little to no skills in the ground game. The rules as defined below will help to encourage constant stand-up action and discourage ground-based tactics.

Rules:

Matches are to be held in the confines of a Cage

Judge's Decision

Non-title matches: 5x3 mins

Title matches: 10x3 mins

Strikes to a downed opponent are Illegal

The referee can separate the fighters if they are inactive: Yes

Closing guard while on the ground is Illegal

Knee strikes to the head of an opponent who is on the ground are Illegal

Fighters who are knocked down are given a ten count to respond: Yes

Elbow strikes to the head are Illegal

Stomps to a downed opponent are Illegal

Weight Classes:

Women's Lightweight: 125lbs

Women's Middleweight: 135lbs

Meet the Opening Queen of the Cage Roster:

Q-Cage 1

Friday of Week 2, February 1999

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

http://home.comcast.net/~downer28/Queens_Light.gif

'The Wicket Bitch of the West' Honey Due (2-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Honey%20Due.gif" width="200" height="200">

VS.

Tara 'The Heat' O'Brien (6-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Tara%20O'Brien.gif" width="200" height="200">

Fight Card:

  • Honey Due (2-0) vs. Tara O'Brien (6-0)
  • Toni Dietrich (2-0) vs. Alyssa Taylor (1-1)
  • Angelina Keiff (2-3) vs. Brooke Rockerfeller (3-1)
  • Leslie Myers (1-0) vs. Kelly Andrews (1-0)
  • Daniela Sadorra (0-0) vs. Maria Ferraz (0-0)

Preliminaries:

  • Emiri Fueki (0-0) vs. Saya Ikegami (0-0)
  • Ramona Stivic (0-0) vs. Carmen Routhwaite (0-0)

Fight Anaylsis:

Honey Due (2-0) vs. Tara O'Brien (6-0)

Honey Due should get a pretty easy win here, but Tara O'Brien has a really solid chin, so the win might come by decision and possibly even by submission since Honey Due is one of the few fighters in Queens that has some ground skills. Both fighters have tremendous cardio, so the 30 minute title format should not bother them at all.

Toni Dietrich (2-0) vs. Alyssa Taylor (1-1)

Definitely an advantage to Dietrich here as she is the better kickboxer and she has a solid chin while Taylor's is made of glass. Expect a quick knock out in this one.

Angelina Keiff (2-3) vs. Brooke Rockerfeller (3-1)

These two are looking for a win to get off their recent losses. I would say there is a slight advantage to Keiff as she has the better chin and slightly better kickboxing skills.

Leslie Myers (1-0) vs. Kelly Andrews (1-0)

Leslie Myers should be the favored to win as she has some wicked knock out power and Andrews mostly relies on kicks.

Daniela Sadorra (0-0) vs. Maria Ferraz (0-0)

This one should be a very exciting fight to watch, but Sadorra clearly has the better skills and some ground skills if it comes to that. Ferraz has weak cardio as well, so if she can't do something early, it might as well be over.

Emiri Fueki (0-0) vs. Saya Ikegami (0-0)

Advantage should go to Ikegami here as she has the slightly better standup and much better chin.

Ramona Stivic (0-0) vs. Carmen Routhwaite (0-0)

Routhwaite should be handled easily by Stivic as her standup game cannot match Stivic's.

Q-Cage 2

Saturday of Week 2, February 1999

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

'The Japanese Buzzsaw' Naora Kikuchi (5-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Naora%20Kikuchi.gif" width="200" height="200">

VS.

Junko Yamada (4-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Junko%20Yamada.gif" width="200" height="200">

Fight Card:

  • Naora Kikuchi (5-0) vs. Junko Yamada (4-0)
  • Shiho Konno (2-0) vs. Debra Everett (2-0)
  • Tiiu Kass (1-0) vs. Suzana Ramos (0-0)
  • Nina Belle (0-0) vs. Tabitha Cameron (0-0)
  • Kyoko Junna (1-0) vs. Hanae Maehata (1-0)

Preliminaries:

  • Elizabeth Lindley (0-0) vs. Isabeli Martins (0-0)
  • Emiko Shikuk (0-1) vs. Kirsten Page (0-2)

Fight Anaylsis:

Naora Kikuchi (5-0) vs. Junko Yamada (4-0)

Muay Thai vs. Muay Thai. While Kikuchi has the better muay thai skills, both have weak chins so it would really only take one solid hit. Yamada is the smarter and more consistent of the two and can use her minuscule ground and pound skills if necessary.

Shiho Konno (2-0) vs. Debra Everett (2-0)

Konno has a really solid, all-around striking game, but Everett isn't one that is easy to knock out. Konno, on the other hand, might be in trouble if Everett catches her with something good.

Tiiu Kass (1-0) vs. Suzana Ramos (0-0)

This one should be an interesting one to watch. Kass packs some power in her hands and that is not good for Ramos and her weak chin, but Ramos has the advantage of kicks and even some decent muay thai. Hard to say how this fight will end.

Nina Belle (0-0) vs. Tabitha Cameron (0-0)

Nina Belle might be one of the most talented standup fighters in Queens, but she's going to have a tough time against Cameron and her decent muay thai skills.

Kyoko Junna (1-0) vs. Hanae Maehata (1-0)

Junna has some really horrible cardio, so she'll probably be fighting fatigue after the first couple rounds, but she does pack some nice power behind her punches and Maehata has a really weak chin, so who knows. Maehata has the advantage with her kicks and a few muay thai skills.

Elizabeth Lindley (0-0) vs. Isabeli Martins (0-0)

I would give the advantage to Lindley here as her power punches pose more of a threat than Martins' very weak standup game. They both have really solid chins and good cardio, so I wouldn't be surprised if it came to a decision.

Emiko Shikuk (0-1) vs. Kirsten Page (0-2)

One of these fighters is looking for their first win in the MMA world. Unfortunately, Page is going to have to get lucky against Shikuk as she is about as one-dimensional as can be. It doesn't help that her chin is made of glass either.

Really like the fight analysis, and I love the strike-based guys and gals, so I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Predictions:

Honey Due (2-0) vs. Tara O'Brien (6-0) - Your preview underestimates Tara, IMO. Honey's good but Tara can take the upset.

Toni Dietrich (2-0) vs. Alyssa Taylor (1-1) - Definitely Toni.

Angelina Keiff (2-3) vs. Brooke Rockerfeller (3-1)

Leslie Myers (1-0) vs. Kelly Andrews (1-0) - Leslie is awesome. I'm speaking as someone who just fed her to Karen Curtis to boost Karen's win streak, and now has a women's champion no-one's ever heard of.

Daniela Sadorra (0-0) vs. Maria Ferraz (0-0) - Flipped a coin, don't know either.

Emiri Fueki (0-0) vs. Saya Ikegami (0-0) - Don't know Emiri, but Saya rocks!

Ramona Stivic (0-0) vs. Carmen Routhwaite (0-0) - Flipped a coin, don't know either.

Fight Anaylsis:

Naora Kikuchi (5-0) vs. Junko Yamada (4-0) - Really good main event, hard to pick but I mark for the Buzzsaw.

Shiho Konno (2-0) vs. Debra Everett (2-0) - Don't know Konno at all, but Debra's disappointed me.

Tiiu Kass (1-0) vs. Suzana Ramos (0-0) - Kass with a quick KO.

Nina Belle (0-0) vs. Tabitha Cameron (0-0) - Cameron's muay thai should probably take it.

Kyoko Junna (1-0) vs. Hanae Maehata (1-0) - Hanae will dance around for a few rounds, then nail Kyoko once she tires.

Elizabeth Lindley (0-0) vs. Isabeli Martins (0-0) - Coin toss again.

Emiko Shikuk (0-1) vs. Kirsten Page (0-2) - Page is ultra-reliable - she never wins!

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Shiho%20Konno.gif" width="200" height="200">

Fight Card:

  • Naora Kikuchi (6-0) vs. Shiho Konno (3-0)
  • Leslie Myers (2-0) vs. Kyoko Junna (2-0)
  • Isabeli Martins (1-0) vs. Daniela Sadorra (1-0)
  • Tabitha Cameron (0-1) vs. Kelly Andrews (1-1)
  • Brooke Rockerfeller (3-2) vs. Debra Everett (2-1)

Preliminaries:

  • Elizabeth Lindley (0-1) vs. Maria Ferraz (0-1)
  • Emiri Fueki (0-1) vs. Hanae Maehata (1-1)

Fight Anaylsis:

Naora Kikuchi (6-0) vs. Shiho Konno (3-0)

Konno might have the slight advantage here with her elusiveness, consistency, and all-around striking game. Kikuchi will have to rely on her good muay thai skills and decent kicks to pull off a win. Both fighters don't have the best chins in the world, so a knockout isn't unlikely. There is also a discrepancy in each of the fighters they fought last: Kikuchi generally dominated Yamada for a UD, but Konno just barely won a split decision over Everett. Going by those matches alone, Kikuchi might just stomp all over Konno if Konno brings what she brought in the Everett match.

Leslie Myers (2-0) vs. Kyoko Junna (2-0)

Myers is definitely the favorite to win here as her punches and kicks will be no match for Junna. Not only that, but Myers has so many other advantages such as a better chin, cardio, and elusiveness. Junna is going to have to bring her 'A' game to win.

Isabeli Martins (1-0) vs. Daniela Sadorra (1-0)

This is likely going to be another one-sided match in Sadorra's favor as Martins cannot match her kicks, consistency, and elusiveness.

Tabitha Cameron (0-1) vs. Kelly Andrews (1-1)

Cameron might have the slight advantage here with her better rounded striking game, but for the most part, it should come down to whoever wants the win more.

Brooke Rockerfeller (3-2) vs. Debra Everett (2-1)

A slight advantage going to Everett here as she seems to have the 1up on everything Rockerfeller can do. The most obvious difference is Rockerfeller's weak chin, which could lead to an early TKO.

Elizabeth Lindley (0-1) vs. Maria Ferraz (0-1)

This match will be all about the power behind their punches, but Ferraz does seem to hold a bit more finesse and elusiveness. Lindley is generally slow, but doesn't gas as easily as Ferraz does so maybe she can use that to her advantage.

Emiri Fueki (0-1) vs. Hanae Maehata (1-1)

Both of these kickboxers have very weak chins, but Maehata likely holds the advantage with her slightly more dangerous kicks.

Q-Cage 4

Saturday of Week 4, April 1999

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

http://home.comcast.net/~downer28/Queens_Light.gif

'The Wicket Bitch of the West' Honey Due (3-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Honey%20Due.gif" width="200" height="200">

VS.

Toni Dietrich (3-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Toni%20Dietrich.gif" width="200" height="200">

Fight Card:

  • Honey Due (3-0) vs. Toni Dietrich (3-0)
  • Tiiu Kass (2-0) vs. Angelina Keiff (3-3)
  • Tara O'Brien (6-1) vs. Junko Yamada (4-1)
  • Nina Belle (1-0) vs. Ramona Stivic (1-0)
  • Saya Ikegami (1-0) vs. Emiko Shikuk (1-1)

Preliminaries:

  • Suzana Ramos (0-1) vs. Carmen Routhwaite (0-1)
  • Alyssa Taylor (1-2) vs. Helena Broderick (1-1)

Fight Anaylsis:

Honey Due (3-0) vs. Toni Dietrich (3-0)

The main difference between these two fighters is the versatility in Due's favor, particularly in the ground game. They are both coming off dominating performances, but I don't think Dietrich is going to find Due as easy to knock out as Taylor was.

Tiiu Kass (2-0) vs. Angelina Keiff (3-3)

Kass is coming off a stunning TKO win over hot prospect Suzana Ramos, so she's definitely the favored fighter in this match. Keiff's only real advantage is in her kicks, so if she can rack up some points by keeping Kass at a safe distance, she might have a chance.

Tara O'Brien (6-1) vs. Junko Yamada (4-1)

O'Brien has the likely advantage, in not only her Muay Thai skills, but packing a great chin compared to Yamada's weak chin.

Nina Belle (1-0) vs. Ramona Stivic (1-0)

A huge advantage in Belle's favor, especially after the questionable split decision that went in Stivic's favor against Routhwaite. Stivic really has to step up and prove herself here, but Belle just may be too good.

Saya Ikegami (1-0) vs. Emiko Shikuk (1-1)

Shikuk is really only known for her kicks, but, not only is Ikegami a better kicking specialist, she's also a better striker. Still, Shikuk might have a chance if she keeps the pressure on Ikegami.

Suzana Ramos (0-1) vs. Carmen Routhwaite (0-1)

After a disappointing loss for Ramos and a questionable one for Routhwaite, both of these fighters are looking to redeem themselves with their first MMA win. Ramos appears to be the better all-around striker, but Routhwaite knows Ramos has a weak chin and she'll undoubtedly be looking to test it out.

Alyssa Taylor (1-2) vs. Helena Broderick (1-1)

Broderick is coming off a loss to Wojciechowska at an independent show before signing to Queens and Taylor off a quick knock out at Q-Cage 1, but they each know they have a good chance at securing a win here. The interesting thing with these two is that while Taylor has a glass chin, she has a much better rounded striking game than Broderick, so can Broderick knock out Taylor before Taylor can amass enough points to win a decision?

Some new additions to the Q-Cage Roster:

Hanako Shimizu (10-1)

A good Muay Thai specialist coming off of two wins in KDM FC.

Hester Maclean (9-2)

She relies heavily on the power in her punches and her rock solid chin. She may get far in Queens. She's also coming off of two wins, particularly an impressive split decision win over April Watson.

Jenny DeNeuve (4-0)

One of the best striking-based fighters in MMA. Coming off of two wins as well, including a UD over Pamela O'Neill.

Michelle Adams (9-4)

A decent Muay Thai specialist, but very exciting to watch. Unfortunately, she's coming off two losses.

Wazuka Iwahara (4-0)

A newcomer to the MMA world. She's a very inexperienced kickboxer, but has superb charisma, a great chin, and a good array of other non-fighting abilities. She may one day be a good competitor.

Q-Cage 5

Friday of Week 2, July 1999

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

'Lost Innocence' Leslie Myers (3-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Leslie%20Myers.gif" width="200" height="200">

VS.

Shiho 'Snake' Konno (4-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Shiho%20Konno.gif" width="200" height="200">

Fight Card:

  • Leslie Myers (3-0) vs. Shiho Konno (4-0)
  • Tiiu Kass (3-0) vs. Nina Belle (2-0)
  • Saya Ikegami (2-0) vs. Daniela Sadorra (2-0)
  • Tara O'Brien (7-1) vs. Debra Everett (3-1)
  • Tabitha Cameron (1-1) vs. Maria Ferraz (1-1)

Preliminaries:

  • Hanae Maehata (2-1) vs. Helena Broderick (2-1)
  • Wazuka Iwahara (4-0) vs. Carmen Routhwaite (1-1)
  • Kelly Andrews (1-2) vs. Ramona Stivic (1-1)
  • Elizabeth Lindley (0-2) vs. Kirsten Page (0-3)

Fight Anaylsis:

Leslie Myers (3-0) vs. Shiho Konno (4-0)

This should be a very exciting fight. Myers has the slight advantage in her striking, as well in a few other areas such as chin, elusiveness, and instincts, so it'll be interesting to see if Konno can overcome those obstacles as she did before with Kikuchi.

Tiiu Kass (3-0) vs. Nina Belle (2-0)

Another very exciting match. These two both love to get in their opponent's faces and brawl. They both have pretty solid chins, and while Kass has the advantage in strength, Belle has the advantage in versatility, particularly with her deadly kicks.

Saya Ikegami (2-0) vs. Daniela Sadorra (2-0)

Ikegami failed to impress after gaining a split decision over Shikuk and she's really going to have to step it up against Sadorra because Sadorra has the advantage on her in about everything she does. One key thing is that Sadorra might not be able to exploit Ikegami's ground game as she has a pretty good sprawl, but she shouldn't have to worry as her striking is phenomenally better.

Tara O'Brien (7-1) vs. Debra Everett (3-1)

Both of these fighters are coming off of wins after suffering defeats and are looking to push their momentum a step further with a win here. While both fighters are similar in many areas, the key difference is O'Brien's good Muay Thai skills, which may ultimately prove a threat for Everett.

Tabitha Cameron (1-1) vs. Maria Ferraz (1-1)

Both of these fighters are coming off of recent victories as well and I have an idea of how this fight will play out. Ferraz will gas by the third round and if she hasn't knocked Cameron out by then, Cameron will likely dominate her and get the win. They both have solid chins, but Ferraz packs enough power to take Cameron out while Cameron is going to really struggle. Versatility is certainly on Cameron's side, however.

Hanae Maehata (2-1) vs. Helena Broderick (2-1)

This one should be interesting to watch. Maehata has a very weak chin, but is the better, more versatile striker, but Broderick has a decent chin and packs some power in her punches as evidenced in her prior match with Taylor.

Wazuka Iwahara (4-0) vs. Carmen Routhwaite (1-1)

The new girl on the block will be testing her kickboxing skills against Routhwaite's stunning split decision victory over Suzana Ramos. Routhwaite is probably the more versatile striker here, but she has a weak chin and Iwahara's chin may as well be made out of iron. :p Can the 'Snap Dragon' pull out another lucky victory?

Kelly Andrews (1-2) vs. Ramona Stivic (1-1)

This will be Andrews' chance to end her losing streak and Stivic's chance to recover from a tough loss to rising star Nina Belle. Stivic is definitely the more versatile striker, but Stivic does have a weak chin so maybe Andrews can catch her with one of her kicks?

Elizabeth Lindley (0-2) vs. Kirsten Page (0-3)

I would bet that Page's glass chin will be breaking from Lindley's power-packed punches. The question is, how long can Page survive? :)

Q-Cage 6

Saturday of Week 2, July 1999

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

http://home.comcast.net/~downer28/Queens_Light.gif

'The Wicked Bitch of the West' Honey Due (4-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Honey%20Due.gif" width="200" height="200">

VS.

Hester 'The Slayer' Maclean (9-2)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Hester%20Maclean.gif" width="200" height="200">

Fight Card:

  • Honey Due (4-0) vs. Hester Maclean (9-2)
  • Hanako Shimizu (10-1) vs. Jenny DeNeuve (4-0)
  • Toni Dietrich (3-1) vs. Michelle Adams (9-4)
  • Naora Kikuchi (6-1) vs. Angelina Keiff (3-4)
  • Kyoko Junna (2-1) vs. Junko Yamada (4-2)

Preliminaries:

  • Brooke Rockerfeller (3-3) vs. Alyssa Taylor (1-3)
  • Emiko Shikuk (1-2) vs. Isabeli Martins (1-1)
  • Emiri Fueki (0-2) vs. Suzana Ramos (0-2)

Fight Anaylsis:

Honey Due (4-0) vs. Hester Maclean (9-2)

It seems as if Maclean will meet her match with Due as Due is just as strong as her and even has more versatile striking skills. In addition, Due possesses better cardio, elusiveness, instincts, intelligence, and consistency. The only thing really going for Maclean is her experience, but I'm not sure that will be enough to overcome Due.

Hanako Shimizu (10-1) vs. Jenny DeNeuve (4-0)

Both fighters are unknowns in America, so this will be their breakout match and hopefully the beginning of their rise to the top of Queens. But, Shimizu is going to find getting past DeNeuve's superior striking skills difficult.

Toni Dietrich (3-1) vs. Michelle Adams (9-4)

Dietrich might actually have the advantage on Michelle Adams in terms of more versatile striking and a solid chin. Adams is going to have to prove that experience means something in this sport.

Naora Kikuchi (6-1) vs. Angelina Keiff (3-4)

Both of these fighters are coming off losses, but this is going to be a tough match for Keiff as Kikuchi's Muay Thai and general striking is likely going to be too much for her to handle.

Kyoko Junna (2-1) vs. Junko Yamada (4-2)

This should be an interesting fight to watch as both fighters have different strengths, but none that really may overwhelm the other. Junna's weak cardio, lack of consistency, and slow reactions are areas in which Yamada excels. On the other hand, Junna packs enough power in her punches that she could be enough threat to knock Yamada out. Yamada could use the win after two tough losses though.

Brooke Rockerfeller (3-3) vs. Alyssa Taylor (1-3)

One of these fighters hope to end their losing streaks here. Taylor might have the slight advantage in striking, but her glass chin is easy to break as her past two knock out defeats indicate.

Emiko Shikuk (1-2) vs. Isabeli Martins (1-1)

Shikuk is the more versatile fighter and elusive fighter, while Martins really only packs power in her punches, which shouldn't be a problem for either fighter as their chins are pretty solid.

Emiri Fueki (0-2) vs. Suzana Ramos (0-2)

This is really a fight of desperation, especially so for Ramos after two disappointing losses. Ramos certainly has the advantage in striking and this time it won't just be her chin that is weak, so it might be a battle of who can knock out who first.

Some more additions to the Q-Cage roster:

Chiyo Yanagimoto (9-3)

Although she only went 1-2 in KDM FC, she is coming off a win and has some pretty good striking skills, particularly with her feet. Her great consistency is one of her best attributes.

Jennie Gill (5-2)

Went 0-2 in WEFF, but she still has a lot of room for potential and already has a well rounded physical and non-physical game.

Kerry Silverman (8-5-1)

Going 0-1-1 in WEFF, she mainly relies on the power in her punches and little else.

Natalie Rogers (5-2)

1-1 in WEFF, Rogers has a lot of undeveloped potential, but that doesn't mean she's a pushover now. Her unrivaled work ethic will likely get her far in MMA.

Olivia Sweet (5-1-1)

She went 1-1-1 in WEFF before signing to Queens. She has great kicks, cardio, intelligence, and work ethic, but her weak chin and lack of consistency could mar her success.

Simone King (3-3)

She went 0-2 in XCC, but they were both by deadly submission specialists, so her striking skills really haven't been tested. She packs good power in both her punches and kicks.

Vanessa Phillips (4-2)

She's more or less the punching equivalent to Kirsten Page, but she does have a better chin and shows strengths in other non-physical areas, so she could see more success than Page.

Q-Cage 7

Friday of Week 1, November 1999

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Daniela Sadorra (3-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Daniela%20Sadorra.gif" width="200" height="200">

VS.

Nina 'Liberty' Belle (3-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Nina%20Belle.gif" width="200" height="200">

Fight Card:

  • Daniela Sadorra (3-0) vs. Nina Belle (3-0)
  • Yuya Shimizu (8-0) vs. Jenny DeNeuve (5-0)
  • Hester Maclean (9-3) vs. Hanako Shimizu (10-2)
  • Tara O'Brien (8-1) vs. Wazuka Iwahara (5-0)
  • Tabitha Cameron (2-1) vs. Helena Broderick (3-1)

Preliminaries:

  • Natalie Rogers (5-2) vs. Chiyo Yanagimoto (9-3)
  • Carmen Routhwaite (1-2) vs. Maria Ferraz (1-2)
  • Hanae Maehata (2-2) vs. Emiko Shikuk (1-3)
  • Kerry Silverman (8-5-1) vs. Vanessa Phillips (4-2)
  • Saya Ikegami (2-1) vs. Angelina Keiff (3-5)

Fight Anaylsis:

Daniela Sadorra (3-0) vs. Nina Belle (3-0)

This one may be tough to call. They have very similar striking skills, with a slight advantage going to Nina Belle, but Sadorra has the better ground game.

Yuya Shimizu (8-0) vs. Jenny DeNeuve (5-0)

Shimizu has some great kicks, but DeNeuve is much more versatile and Shimizu has a pretty weak chin that could bring her down fast if she gets caught good.

Hester Maclean (9-3) vs. Hanako Shimizu (10-2)

An interesting matchup for sure. Maclean has enough power to knock Shimizu out, but Shimizu is more versed in kicks and Muay Thai that she could give Maclean a real challenge.

Tara O'Brien (8-1) vs. Wazuka Iwahara (5-0)

It's hard to see what Iwahara's very lackluster kickboxing skills will accomplish against O'Brien's better striking and experience.

Tabitha Cameron (2-1) vs. Helena Broderick (3-1)

This one should be an easy win for Cameron as Broderick is really just a pushover who relies on strength. Cameron's chin is too solid to see an upset.

Natalie Rogers (5-2) vs. Chiyo Yanagimoto (9-3)

It's hard to see how this will go as both have very similar striking skills with a slight advantage to Yanagimoto. Yanagimoto holds an advantage in consistency while Rogers in killer instincts.

Carmen Routhwaite (1-2) vs. Maria Ferraz (1-2)

Ferraz is such a powerhouse with her punches and her cardio has actually improved, so this could be a breakout win for her.

Hanae Maehata (2-2) vs. Emiko Shikuk (1-3)

Maehata has the better striking, but she has a very weak chin that Shikuk could exploit. It'll really depend on that factor.

Kerry Silverman (8-5-1) vs. Vanessa Phillips (4-2)

Silverman is likely to get a knockout against Phillips and her weaker chin. Phillips really doesn't possess much a striking game to be a threat.

Saya Ikegami (2-1) vs. Angelina Keiff (3-5)

Pretty similar strikers here, but Ikegami does have the advantage in versatility, such as Muay Thai, and even a little ground and pound.

Q-Cage 8

Saturday of Week 1, November 1999

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

http://home.comcast.net/~downer28/Queens_Light.gif

'The Wicked Bitch of the West' Honey Due (5-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Honey%20Due.gif" width="200" height="200">

VS.

'Lost Innocence' Leslie Myers (4-0)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Leslie%20Myers.gif" width="200" height="200">

Fight Card:

  • Honey Due (5-0) vs. Leslie Myers (4-0)
  • Toni Dietrich (4-1) vs. Naora Kikuchi (7-1)
  • Shiho Konno (4-1) vs. Tiiu Kass (3-1)
  • Michelle Addams (9-5) vs. Simone King (3-3)
  • Elizabeth Lindley (1-2) vs. Alyssa Taylor (2-3)

Preliminaries:

  • Suzana Ramos (1-2) vs. Junko Yamada (5-2)
  • Isabeli Martins (2-1) vs. Ramona Stivic (2-1)
  • Emiri Fueki (0-3) vs. Kelly Andrews (1-3)
  • Debra Everett (3-2) vs. Kyoko Junna (2-2)
  • Brooke Rockerfeller (3-4) vs. Kirsten Page (0-4)

Fight Anaylsis:

Honey Due (5-0) vs. Leslie Myers (4-0)

Honey Due might have her first legitimate challenge with Leslie Myers. Not only does Myers edge her out in all-around striking, but she packs enough power to potentially knock Due out.

Toni Dietrich (4-1) vs. Naora Kikuchi (7-1)

If Dietrich can avoid Kikuchi's deadly Muay Thai, she may have a shot at beating her as she has the advantage in punching and power.

Shiho Konno (4-1) vs. Tiiu Kass (3-1)

Konno is coming off a knock out loss to Myers, but her opponent, Kass, is no less deadly in terms of knock out power. Konno is going to need to rely on her advantages in kicking and stay out of range of Kass to win.

Michelle Addams (9-5) vs. Simone King (3-3)

One of these fighters is set to end their recent losing streaks with a win here. The advantage would undoubtedly go to King as her versatile striking and power will likely cause problems for Addams' weak chin and one dimensional game.

Elizabeth Lindley (1-2) vs. Alyssa Taylor (2-3)

Again, with any match with Taylor in it, you have to wonder how much of her weak chin will be a liability. She is the more versatile striker here, but Lindley could easily end it with the power she has in her hands.

Suzana Ramos (1-2) vs. Junko Yamada (5-2)

Both of these fighters are looking to continue their paths to success after ending their losing streaks. Ramos is the favorite and better striker, but Yamada is much more consistent and has the better cardio. So, it could potentially go either way.

Isabeli Martins (2-1) vs. Ramona Stivic (2-1)

This is another match where it could go either way. Martins has enough power to shatter Stivic's weak chin, but Stivic is the better all-around striker.

Emiri Fueki (0-3) vs. Kelly Andrews (1-3)

Each of these fighters are looking to end their 3-loss losing streaks with a win here. Andrews probably has the advantage with her good kicks and Muay Thai skills.

Debra Everett (3-2) vs. Kyoko Junna (2-2)

This one should be interesting as Junna is more of a pure power striker while Everett is more well-rounded. Junna's lackluster cardio could come into play early enough to give Everett the advantage though.

Brooke Rockerfeller (3-4) vs. Kirsten Page (0-4)

Almost identical striking games, but Page's glass chin might pose the greatest threat.

Q-Cage 8

Saturday of Week 1, November 1999

Weight Class Change/Addition Annoucement

With all the talent Queens is attracting, the management has decided to add a second women's weight class at a 'middleweight' class range. There will also be a change in weight structure as follows:

Women's Lightweight: 125lbs

Women's Middleweight: 135lbs

All fighters will be adjusted to the appropriate weight class based on which weight class they find most comfortable fighting at.

Here are the newest additions to the Q-Cage roster:

Katarzyna 'Killer' Wojciechowska (3-2)

She's really not that great of a kickboxer, but she's exciting enough to fight in Queens and she's still young enough to improve her skills

Kit 'Snake Strike' Sakamoto (4-1)

One of the most exciting fighters around, Sakamoto is a good, all-around striker who has incredible cardio and great killer instincts. A perfect fit for Queens.

Temperance 'Bang Bang' McCoy (1-0)

McCoy is another very exciting fighter that boasts some amazing all-around striking skills, as well as an array of non-physical attributes that make a champion a champion.

Laura Adair (2-0)

Adair is an extremely versatile striker and excellent Muay Thai specialist who still has tons of potential. It's likely she'll go far in Queens.

Q-Cage 9

Friday of Week 4, February 1999

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

http://home.comcast.net/~downer28/queens_middle.gif

'The Japanese Buzzsaw' Naora Kikuchi (8-1)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Naora%20Kikuchi.gif" width="200" height="200">

VS.

Tara 'The Heat' O'Brien (9-1)

<img src="http://home.comcast.net/%7Edowner28/Tara%20O'Brien.gif" width="200" height="200">

Fight Card:

  • Naora Kikuchi (8-1) vs. Tara O'Brien (9-1)
  • Chiyo Yanagimoto (10-3) vs. Junko Yamada (6-2)
  • Tabitha Cameron (3-1) vs. Saya Ikegami (3-1)
  • Alyssa Taylor (3-3) vs. Simone King (4-3)
  • Toni Dietrich (4-2) vs. Shiho Konno (4-2)

Preliminaries:

  • Kelly Andrews (2-3) vs. Emiko Shikuk (2-3)
  • Kit Sakamoto (4-1) vs. Kerry Silverman (8-6-1)
  • Laura Adair (2-0) vs. Debra Everett (4-2)
  • Ramona Stivic (2-2) vs. Suzana Ramos (1-3)
  • Emiri Fueki (0-4) vs. Hanae Maehata (2-3)
  • Brooke Rockerfeller (4-4) vs. Helena Broderick (3-2)
  • Katarzyna Wojciechowska (3-2) vs. Temperance McCoy (1-0)

Fight Anaylsis:

Naora Kikuchi (8-1) vs. Tara O'Brien (9-1)

A slight advantage might go to Kikuchi with her better kicking and Muay Thai, but O'Brien has the advantage in packing more power behind her punches, better cardio, a much more solid chin, and consistency.

Chiyo Yanagimoto (10-3) vs. Junko Yamada (6-2)

This may be a case where Yanagimoto's striking will be too much for Yamada to handle. Yamada couldn't handle either O'Brien or Kikuchi, so it's unlikely she'll get anywhere with Yanagimoto.

Tabitha Cameron (3-1) vs. Saya Ikegami (3-1)

Cameron has racked up a nice win streak and Ikegami has gone 3-1 so far in Queens. Both of these fighters possess great sprawling skills, so if they're smart they'll keep the fight standing. Their chins are also very solid as well as great cardio all around, so nobody should be getting knocked out or gassing early. Ikegami does have a problem with consistency, but it shouldn't factor in too much. Ikegami has more versatile striking skills, but Cameron's Muay Thai could pose a threat.

Alyssa Taylor (3-3) vs. Simone King (4-3)

Taylor managed to survive Lindley's power punches and she's been really improving her striking to the point that I would say King might be in for a challenge here. If it weren't for Taylor's still weak chin, it could easily be her match to win.

Toni Dietrich (4-2) vs. Shiho Konno (4-2)

Both of these fighters are looking for a win after coming off of losses. Expect each of them to be testing each other's chins as their striking is almost identical. It's hard to say who will win this one.

Kelly Andrews (2-3) vs. Emiko Shikuk (2-3)

Shikuk's versatility could be the deciding factor in this match.

Kit Sakamoto (4-1) vs. Kerry Silverman (8-6-1)

Sakamoto is looking to get a good start on her new career in Queens with a win here, but Silverman's knock out power could present real problems for her.

Laura Adair (2-0) vs. Debra Everett (4-2)

Not only is Adair a better striker, but her deadly Muay Thai skills are a thing of beauty.

Ramona Stivic (2-2) vs. Suzana Ramos (1-3)

Look for chins to be tested in this exchange. Two of the most disappointing fighters in Queens are looking to prove themselves.

Emiri Fueki (0-4) vs. Hanae Maehata (2-3)

Unless Fueki can get a lucky strike on Maehata's weak chin, Maehata is likely to overwhelm her with her striking.

Brooke Rockerfeller (4-4) vs. Helena Broderick (3-2)

Rockerfeller is the slightly more versatile striker, so Broderick may have a tough time getting a win here.

Katarzyna Wojciechowska (3-2) vs. Temperance McCoy (1-0)

Foot meet glass chin. I doubt this match will last long and will simply be a stepping stone for McCoy's career in Queens.
