TNA ~ We Are Unbreakable

September 11th, 2005, Unbreakable, that was the first time I ever attended a TNA event. By the end of the night I WAS HOOKED! What I saw that night was quite simply one of the most amazing matches I had ever seen, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe, The Unbreakable Three, put on an amazing spectacle! This set my life on a chain of events that I wouldn’t soon forget!

After watching Unbreakable I became a regular in the iMPACT Zone! I was there for the first show on Spike, I was there for Bound For Glory 1, I was there when Christian Cage debuted, I was there for the riot that almost ensued following King Of The Mountain 2006, I was there when they announced Angle was coming to TNA…I was a TNA JUNKIE!

What happened next was something that I never expected to happen.

After a TNA iMPACT! taping about a year ago I was eating at Wendy’s when suddenly AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe walked in. I was amazed! The Unbreakable Three were standing right in front of me ordering burgers. After watching them eat I finally got up the courage to approach them.

I let the three guys know how much I enjoyed their match from back at Unbreakable 05 and they asked if I wanted to sit down and talk with them. The Unbreakable Three actually wanted me to join them! We sat and talked about wrestling for over an hour and they were really cool. I developed a relationship with the three men and before I knew it I was hanging out backstage at TNA on a regular basis. Within two months I was being used as an extra, working “security” and other stuff.

One day AJ introduced me to TNA President Dixie Carter and told her that I had some good ideas on the product. Dixie appeased me, even though it was obvious she wasn’t super interested in what I had to say. After a short conversation we said our goodbyes and went about our business.

This brings me to last week…

AJ, Daniels and Joe approached me one night after the last set of iMPACT tapings. “Russo quit” was the first thing that Joe told me. “What?” was the only thing that I could muster at the time. “Here’s the awesome thing” Daniels continued, “Dixie wants a fresh new face to join the booking team”. “And she really enjoyed your ideas” AJ told me. I was perplexed whenever AJ broke the news to me. “YOU’RE IN”!

WOW!

Over the course of a year I went from being a guy in the stands to one of the guys calling the shots! Obviously my influence wouldn’t be much seeing as I was in a room with guys who are legends in the business, but for better or worse I was on staff at TNA!

<div style="text-align:center;">As I walked into my first booking meeting I was scared to death! I looked around and saw Mick Foley, Jim Cornette, Jeff Jarrett, Dutch Mantell, Bruce Prichard, Mike Tenay and Jeremy Borash. This collective had years of experience in the wrestling business and my extent of booking was playing that wrestling game by Adam Ryland!

Jeff Jarrett called the meeting to order and we were underway. They first introduced me and I only received glances of disdain from most in the room, obviously they thought I was in over my head as well.

As they made plans for Sacrifice I stayed quiet for most of the time until they started talking about the X Division Champion Suicide and where they planned to go with that character…at this point I spoke up!

Dutch: I think we should just keep him in the mask and keep going! Midway could turn around and they may produce iMPACT! 2.

ME: And Pigs may fly….

Dutch: What was that?

ME: I said….I respect your opinion, but seriously a video game character!

Dutch: All those kids love video games!

ME: Yeah we enjoy games, but a character that started off in a video game is a bit lame.

Jarrett: Well do you have a suggestion?

ME: Yeah I do!

I then proceeded to lay out my plan for Suicide and the X title

Cornette: You know what kid….

ME: What Mr. Cornette?

Cornette: I f***ing like it!

Foley: I do too!

Jarrett: It’s settled then…that’s what we’ll do! Good job kid!

I had actually spoken up during a meeting and one of my ideas was going to be used in TNA! What an unbelievable experience! Well the plans had been layed out for everything leading up to Sacrifice and we wouldn’t have another meeting until the weekend of Sacrifice!</div>

This is Rob Terry’s TNA debut and he came out with a bang nailing Abyss with a chair shot from behind as he made his entrance! Terry used weapons and made Abyss bleed early. About 4:30 into the match Abyss snapped and nailed Terry with The Black Hole Slam out of nowhere!

Mike Tenay: Abyss needs to go for the pin!!!

This title on my shoulder is just a bi-product of being here and seeing that the mafia is taken down! If us putting aside our differences will take the mafia down then I’m all for it!

Jeremy Borash: So you guys are putting your differences aside in an effort to see The Mafia put down?

Jeff Jarrett: That’s what Mick said wasn’t it JB? Are you deaf?!?! It’s time that the Mafia are taken out and that a place is made for guys like AJ, Joe and Daniels to shine!

Mick Foley: Come on Jeff let’s go talk about our strategy for tonight!

Chris Sabin: That’s right Daniels! It may as well be a handicapped match because you can’t be both at the same time!

Alex Shelley: So if you decide to show up as Daniels…or maybe you decide to show up as Suicide, but either way the match will end with us being victorious and you looking like a huge loser!

A back and forth match that sees AJ and Booker getting the majority of the in-ring time. Samoe Joe refused to tag AJ during the match but would make the save when he was pinned. Morgan looked great in the match and was very dominant! In the end Mick Foley got a hot tag and cleaned house of everyone when suddenly Jeff Jarrett hit him with his guitar out of nowhere and Matt Morgan came in to make the pin and get the win for The Main Event Mafia!

Jeff Jarrett: Since last week people have repeatedly asked me…why Jeff? WHY? The answer is simple. Since the arrival of Sting, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner, Kurt Angle and more recently Mick Foley they have acted like they rule TNA! These guys need to remember something…this is…….PLANET JARRETT! This is the company that I started.

Mick Foley decided that he wanted to go crazy and become TNA World Champ…he decided that he wants to a superstar in TNA. Well guess what he’s becoming the cancer that I once was to TNA!

Mike Tenay: What?!?!?!

Jeff Jarrett: You see before my hiatus I thought that I had to be in the spotlight. I thought I had to be champ, but Sting made me see the light. The problem is that once he got the belt he became what I once was…now that Foley has the belt he’s becoming what Sting and I have been. It was time that someone brought him back down to earth and that man is me! So you want to know why I attacked Foley that’s why!

So here’s what I’ve decided to do! At Sacrifice there is going to be an Ultimate Sacrifice match for the TNA World Heavyweight Title. To be a part you have to put something on the line…I’ve decided that I’m going to enter the match. This is what I’m to put on the line……all authority that I have in TNA. If I’m pinned I’ll forfeit all power I have in TNA!

Why am I going after the title? Because people like Foley, Angle and Sting don’t deserve to be champ. People like Joe, AJ and Daniels are the ones who deserve to be champ. So if I win I will forfeit the title and establish a tournament consisting of people like Joe, AJ and Daniels. It’s time for TNA to go through a generational change….Foley, Angle, Sting, Nash, Steiner, Booker…your time is coming to an end!

Daniels: I saw what they said and this week I’ve tried to contact Suicide and haven’t been able to get him, but I will say this…if The Guns want me…then they’ve got me. If Suicide is there then great…if he isn’t then I’ll take both of them on in a handicap match.

Jeremy Borash: Tonight, you will face one half of The Motorcity Machine Guns, Alex Shelley in singles action.

Daniels: Shelley, you’ve opened a box that you should have kept closed. You have accused me of being Suicide and if I am then it is none of your business and tonight I’m going to take step one at shutting you up!

Mike Tenay: I’ve heard that the person who gets the pinfall here tonight will be put into a match with three other people to decide the number one contender to the TNA X Division Title.

Don West: Plus, Lethal Consequences and Homicide have that mystery man joining them…who could it be?

Mike Tenay: IT’S JAPANESE LEGEND, JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER!!!!!!

This was a fun back and forth match match that had all of the guys hitting their big spots and had some really fun interaction between Kiyoshi and Liger. In the end there was huge pileup on the outside with everyone diving to the outside except Liger and Naito. Liger hit the a Super Ligerbomb from the top rope for the three count and the win!

Mike Tenay: What a match! Best of all Jushin Thunder Liger will be at Sacrifice when he competes to become the number one contender for the X Division Title!

Obviously Joe and I have problems that I didn’t know about. In my world the way we settle problems is in the ring. Samoa Joe over the last couple of weeks you’ve been like a weak, pathetic little baby and at Sacrifice I’m going to beat the toddler out of you!

Lauren: So are you going to put your TNA Legend’s Title on the line in this match?

AJ Styles: You know what Lauren…I’m a fighting champion so at Sacrifice it’s going to be me and Joe for my TNA Legends Title! JOE! At Sacrifice you will know why they call me Phenomenal!

British Invasion w/Rob Terry vs. Amazing Red & Suicide

In the second semi-final match of this tournament the former champs, Beer Money squared off against the X Division Champion, Suicide and Amazing Red. This match didn’t quite meet expectations. Red looked good, but Suicide missed several spots and didn’t really impress anyone. In the end Alex Shelley came out and distracted the referee while Sabin got in the ring and hit Suicide with a chair enabling Doug Williams to pin him for the three count.

Winners: The British Invasion

Kurt Angle: No we’re not…I’m the mafia don…I’m the leader!

Scott Steiner: Who died and made you leader?!?!?

Kevin Nash: We’re all former world champs. What makes you better than us?

Kurt Angle: What makes me better is that I can still take all of you guys out! Don’t make me prove that I can!

Matt Morgan: Guys, Kurt has our best interest at heart! He’s got the best interest of The Mafia at heart!

Kevin Nash: Hey…Mr. Gladiator! Who asked you to join this conversation! You wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for me!

Kurt Angle: Kev, you need to listen to Matt…it would do you some good.

*Everyone but Morgan and Angle look annoyed*

Jeremy Borash: Booker, tonight you face off against “The Monster” Abyss. Are you nervous as you head into this huge match?

Booker T: The only thing that I’m nervous about is that sucka right there and his power trip!

*Booker points to Angle as he says this*

Booker T: He’s gonna tear us apart!

*Angle and Booker end up nose to nose as everyone else tries to separate them and they exchange insults*

Jeremy Borash: There appears to be some serious trouble within The Main Event Mafia!

*The men continue to shout at each other and there appears to be serious turmoil within the group*

This was a really fun match that had the best of both worlds in high-flying and technical wrestling. Alex Shelley mocked Daniels as he came to the ring wearing a Suicide mask and even put it on him at one point during the match whenever he had Daniels down. One of the best worked matches in the history of iMPACT ended whenever Daniels hit Shelley with the Angel’s Wings followed by a BME and got the pin for the three count.

Don West: Well Suici…I mean Daniels was able to sneak out a win!

Mike Tenay: He’s not Suicide Don! He’s DANIELS!!!

Winner: Daniels

Don West: NO! IT MEANS THAT DANIELS IS SUICIDE! That’s why he couldn’t help, because he can’t help himself!

Mick Foley: I think you mean that you want my title…

Sting: That wouldn’t hurt either.

Mick Foley: Well what are you willing to Sacrifice?

Sting: ……if I lose…….

Mick Foley: If you lose what?

Sting: I’ll forfeit my position in The Main Event Mafia.

Mick Foley: …..interesting….

Sting: Not only that, but I’ll never get a shot at the TNA World Title again.

Mick Foley: …………..

Sting: Come on Cactus.

Mick Foley: You’re in!

Sting: thank you, but know that at Sacrifice I’m gunning for you!

*Sting turns to leave*

Mick Foley: You’re gunning for me!

*Foley attacks and lays Sting out in his office while Jeremy Borash looks for cover*

Abyss came out like a man on fire and absolutely tore through Booker T and didn’t allow him to get in any offense at all. Abyss, who this week went back to his old black attire now that he’s no longer a patient of Dr. Stevie, was absolutely vicious. Abyss hit The Black Hole Slam, but suddenly Dr. Stevie popped up on the screen and taunted Abyss as he was about to go for the pin. Abyss left the ring and went to the back looking for Stevie and got counted out giving Booker T the victory.

Winner: Booker T

iMPACT ZONE STREET FIGHT

"The Hardcore Legend" Mick Foley vs. "The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett

Jeff Jarrett comes out first and is attacked from behind by Mick Foley to start the match. Everything including the kitchen sink was used in this one. Foley was busted open early when Jeff threw Foley into the ring steps. Things devolved into anarchy about 7:00 in as Sting came out and attacked Foley. Following that Kurt Angle came out and attacked Jeff Jarrett from behind and nailed him with a lead pipe. Sting and Angle stared each other down and then attacked each other. Sting and Angle brawled as Foley and Jarrett recovered. Jeff went to attempt The Stroke but Mick got out of it and delivered a double arm DDT onto his barbed wire bat to get the three count and the win. For whatever reason the fans weren’t behind this match at all and didn’t seem interested one bit.

Mike Tenay: What a big win for Foley.

Don West: And he can thank Kurt Angle for an assist!

Winner: Mick Foley
