GAMMA is also doing pretty good, we are in the top 10 for Most fights offered, most events held and most fighters on the roster. We have a very active group and virtually nobody ever leaves, the biggest mistake i made was that i did not go out to pay the big $$$ to get the top fighters earlier on, we had the money just i did not spend time on that, so our biggest weakness is that we lack the big superstar fighters, any good fighters we do have are internally grown ones, so our hype level is pretty low.

Also i sticked to our policy on having fewer weight divisions with more fighters on it, the plus to this is that we have more flexibility in our fights, the downside being that we loose out on fighters we could of signed at other weight classes and less title fights per month.

Other than that i am happy with how things are going;)

masterded's man Danny Lewis still has to confirm a fight for Halloween. Could be a 205 contender's match, depending on how a couple of other fights shake out. So, anyone who chats with him other places or whatever, let him know it might be a good thing for him to check in.

@Derek_B: Well what is there to say about PCF apart from "its not really going well"? Well... i will sign anyone pretty much GDS or not :p

@ProphetX: Why not? Its not like my 170 division is filled with people

Waghlon: So whats the problem with your org? Do you have a bunch of fighters unwilling to fight or something?

Well, I decided to try a 3 month VIP just to take a look at what extras one gets as a VIP, and I must say that the Assistant alone makes it worth it to me!

My first fight is this weekend, with the very first fighter I created naturally. As I had almost no idea what I was doing when I created him, I'm not really expecting too much.

Having difficulty finding a decent gym for guys just starting out in Montreal. It seems most of the gym owners are primarily interested in building elite gyms, which cater to the more experienced fighters/managers. Of the gyms charging less than $100 per week, anyone have any recommendations? So far I've been in Bloodlust Fitness, which jumped to $265 on Thursday intent on becoming and elite gym, and Star Makers, which doesn't seem to get much attention from its owner. I've currently moved my guys into Gold Standard Training, but if anyone knows of a good gym for the new fighter, let me know. (Yes, I realize that there is the Animal Cage listed here - but A) it's a $200 gym and more importantly B) it's full.) EDIT: Gold Standard vanished last night - looks like the owner dropped his VIP and the gym just went away. Have now moved to The Lion's Den, but thinking more about opening a low cost conditioning gym.

If I do decide to try my hand at a running a company, I'm actually thinking that a primarily conditioning gym with a very low cost might be a niche to fill. I could use some advice from those who are running gyms, or have in the past, though as to the costs of coaches. Beyond the $500 base fee the wiki mentions. My thought would be to have coaches focused only on conditioning and charge the same or less than Cozad with a cap number that keeps the training sessions a reasonable size. I'd likely also throw my own workers in there, with at least one with the creation maximum of 110 in each of the four styles, for sparring. I know constant sparring has been fixed with the recent changes, but that just means that sparring needs to be mixed in with other training. But I'd like to have some idea of what the costs are for coaches so I can determine just how many members I'd need if I was charging a low fee like $50 or $40. I'd expect it to be a gym that fighters started out in but then moved on from as they progress in their careers. Any help/advice is appreciated. tia

ACCBiggz, I just want to give you a heads up. I am probably not going to be playing MMA Tycoon anymore. I just suck at this game! Between my four fighters that I had under contract, I have amassed like seven or eight losses in a row. This game is just not fun anymore. I believe you have two fighters under contract Gary Palmer and James Ross if you want to cut them by all means do so.

Derek B. you can remove me from the active owners list as well my name is: BHK1978 (Walter Hill).

I just took a look at your fighters... seems that you went with an approach that was almost designed to fail. If you try to make people decent at everything then you risk making them good at nothing, which is probably why they've been losing a lot. And to add to that, it also looks like none of them have been a quick learner, which means that everyone else around them has also been getting better while your guys haven't. :(

If I were you, I'd try making a new fighter while you've got the chance. Make him 22 years old so that you start with higher stats and give him the quick learner attribute too. Then try to give him one area of skills to specialise in and build him around that. For example, if you want a top Muay Thai guy then give him KO Power as another attribute, and make sure you've got some good stand up skills. Good balance and takedown defense should see you able to block being taken down and then it's just a case of setting up a strategy to get the KO. You don't need takedown skills or submission skills in that situation, so you can pile stats into your kicks, knees and clinchwork.

It's all a learning process, but if you get 1 good fighter then eventually the profits you make off them can feedback into your other fighters. I've been on a bit of a roll with my fighters ever since I realise how important the quick learner stat is. You basically can't become a good fighter without it. :)

There is also variant B, which is have your fighters at GAMMA, i pay my fighters (even the ones at 0-0) 2000\2000 and that is just starting pay :p

The quick learner stat is important eh?

Thats 3 months of research out of the window then:

Fighter 1: A sub-warrior. Won his first 2, then just sorta tanked. Is now 3-2.

Fighter 2: Another sub-warrior. This one more pure. Won his first 2, then also tanked. Is now 3-3.

Fighter 3: Then i made a sub-warrior in Hilo EVEN even more pure. Hired him on my own company. He's 0-3 >_<

Then i looked at what had worked with my previous fighters: Striking and Muay Thai. They are 4-3 and 5-2.

Fighter 4: Muay Thai striker. 4-0 through QFC's. 2 KO's, 2 TKO's.

Fighter 5: Another MT Striker, failed his tactics badly at his first QFC. Is now 0-1.

But if they should have the quick learner stat to ever reach stardom, then if i throw in a good gym and some patience, i could just find that long term sucess im looking for.

That is the approach to go for, basically i am using the strategy derek_b is using, i make a fighter which is 18, fast learner, plenty of cardio, then pile his other stats on something. It is always good to use a little common sense, so having a striker which cannot defend against take downs, won't get you very far. These are the so called "project" type fighters. I would generally keep them out of any fights for at least a couple of months, so that means you will need some money to fund their development.

You can make a few 22 year olds as they have an advantage due to their higher stats to begin with, they can fund the younger projects till they are good enough to fight themselves. Then again, there is really nothing wrong with loosing a few fights, main thing is that you get his stats up, long term he will do well.

I am 16-5 currently with my fighters (2 of the losses were with my own guys fighting each other and 1 was due to the fact that i have one weak fighter)

From what I've read and seen, cardio is the easiest attribute to raise up, so I've been creating my guys with the minimum in conditioning and then training that straight to start off. But otherwise, all of the advice on their forums does seem to indicate that focusing on a particular area is a better approach than creating a fighter who is well rounded.

And for those looking for a good, cheap gym in Montreal to train-up your physical abilities, I've started up Dragon Cage Conditioning as an affordable alternative to Cozad. Like Cozad, it's only $50 a week, but is focused on conditioning with a wonderful coach. I've also created four fighters with the max of 110 in Boxing/Wrestling/MT/BJJ to act as sparring coaches. The plan is to provide a gym for new fighters to train up their physical abilities prior to moving on to the more expensive gyms with elite trainers in B/W/MT/BJJ. Anyone with new fighters in Montreal, please give it a look.

Get him 110 cardio to begin with, if your energy is low, he trains worse, so that + the fast learner and age a major ones, stacking stats is also VIP. Also it helps to have a "sponsor" ie someone like me:p Someone which is willing to invest in your fighter in exchange for loyalty in their Org.

I often build up certain fighters, by giving them reasonable fights inside the org, for me personally having someone reliable, active and loyal is more important in the long run than having someone with a 3-0 record or something.

The only negative is that putting you on the card costs me hype, ie you will lower my ratings + attendance (nobody wants to watch your noob fight :p )

I'm surprised on how good I'm doing with this game as I usually aren't too good with these kind of games. My overall record is 18-7 which is pretty good I guess. One of my fighters (Lars Olofsson 10317) is the current North American Fight Club 155lbs champion with one championship defense and a 6-0 record. He isn't that good but I've been able to put together good gameplans for him. Maybe that's the reason he has 4 boring decission wins :D

I also have welterweight title fight coming up in EWB organization with Emilie Lamont [9685]. Hopefully at the end of the month I'll be the manager of two champions ;)

PS. Is it worth buying the VIP if your not intrested in running a company? I would like to have more fighters and most of all I would like to be able to monitor the development of my fighters more closely. Those of you who have VIP would you say it's worth the money in terms of fighter development?
