Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Jack & Ricky DeColt w/ Hotstuff Marie

Just for that, Jack.

Nichiren Amagawa vs. Tommy Cornell

Amagawa wasn't loyal to WLW? Eh, lucky you.

Double J w/ Adrian Garcia vs. Team VIPER w/ Baroness Emily

I'm wrong, here, but I don't like Money. And they're above the tag division, in that they should either be fighting for the title or for the company.

I guess that's my problem with giving them contracts; since they've "won," in a sense, the most important match, I feel that they're auto-main eventers. This is a squash, then.

Also, Maverick/Deeley and Maverick/Deeley/JeremyStone, especially in a triple-threat Hardhitting Title match, needs to happen.

Monsters of Myth (Gorgon & Cherry Bomb) vs. JeriLynn Stone & Kate Dangerous

Cherry Bombs aren't mythical.

Eternal Party vs. Dan DaLay & Eddie Chandler w/ Adrian Garcia

*rolls eyes*

Chandler's a hell of a lot better than I thought he was (though he didn't develop enough in my NOTBPW game), so he's alright. I still want Lover to do well. Then there's the untalented hoss and Edd Stone. Yeah, this is a match that I'll dislike that everyone else will like, in the C-Verse.

Kreed vs. Joey Minnesota & Wolf Hawkins w/ Phil Vibert

I dislike this match.

I see Kreed as the first main event tag team. They were champs when they had the ridiculous Lions match, (and DWB, right?) so I view them as being top stars. And, y'know, Reed is reigning BEST WRESTLER IN THE WORLD. Heh, I just realized that he bumped canon-Tommy off that award. Who was #2? (well, PRIDE is actually number one on the top 100, but whatever)

Anyway, I dislike that Greg's not really done much aside from the team that I seem to remember. Sure, him and Matt are going to face off, and I know Greg has done something, but...eh, he's a tag guy with Reed. Admittedly, they're one of the best teams you have, which leads me to my point.

Team Vibert is main event because they're in this huge storyline. They're good without being a team. Kreed is phenomenal as a team. That...why is this match here? Neither group should lose; Kreed are good enough as a team that they should be able to win against any non-team and, quite possibly, every team you have. Maybe their stock has dropped, but that would be another problem. How the hell do you let the stock of a team that produced A* matches consistently fall? Admittedly, I'm still speaking from my impressions, and we've already documented that they are quite flawed and contradictory due to my lack of memory.

Kreed, on their side, should not lose. I've been bugged with almost every loss they've had. They should not lose-even moreso, Art Reed is better than anyone else in the ring. Yeah, he was carried to the #1 spot, fine, but I'm pretty sure the world trumps what TCW thinks. Or it should. Maybe. Aside from, ha, Angry Gilmore, who never gets the title...

On their side, Minnesota and, more importantly, Hawkins, have little reason to lose. Hawkins probably should be kept strong going into his big match with Tommy, meaning even being the non-pinned in a loss is a bad idea. Joey...amusingly, given that the other team is a real team, Joey's the afterthought here. He doesn't need to be, his talent is insane, but...what's he been doing aside as part of the stable? I can't recall much aside from turning on...Andrews, right? And I think that was mostly resolved months ago.

While I should vote in favor of Kreed, I can't. They've been relegated down and not featured as much as I expected. And I can't really vote against Hawkins. So it's a draw.

Just wondering, what is Kreed's experience? If it's in the 30s or above, I'm really bad at remembering their matches.

I... understood most of that. It made sense.

Eidenhoek, are you well?

But seriously, I can get behind some of that. TCW's bloated roster has led to a bloated Main Event, and there's not enough time on TV or PPV to give everyone the time they deserve. In terms of match results, everyone's kept credible. If we could see the shows, then seeing people busting out A or A* matches two or three times a week would be a convincing argument that everyone is being given a chance to do their thing. Seeing as how ths is a diary, however, focus = promo/storyline time, as that's what we mostly get to see. And that mean that Kreed, who've not been in a feud for a while and who have a somewhat unfortunate record against super-teams, end up looking a little weaker than their talent level would suggest.

Side note: I signed Amagawa the week he debuted. He's been in Dev for some time ratcheting up his Psych.

I'll give you the Power 100 Top 25, because it'll amuse me:

  1. Art Reed
  2. Wolf Hawkins
  3. Joey Minnesota
  4. Brent Hill
  5. Human Arsenal
  6. Matthew Gauge
  7. Sammy Bach
  8. Troy Tornado
  9. Tommy Cornell
  10. Greg Gauge
  11. Aaron Andrews
  12. Sean McFly
  13. Yoshimi Musashibo
  14. Remo Richardson
  15. Jeremy Stone
  16. Zimmy Bumfhole
  17. Marc DuBois
  18. Johnny Bloodstone
  19. Davis Wayne Newton
  20. Grease Hogg
  21. Lead Belly
  22. Jack Bruce
  23. Champagne Lover
  24. Bryan Vessey
  25. Edd Stone

For what it's worth, these are calculated, so far as I can tell, off overness, match grades, momentum, and success rates - though success rates can't be all; the Fly Boys and Elimination Protocol all made it into the 100. (70 of my guys did.) Art and Greg have done a lot and got a LOT of big wins and draws, in addition to the inaugural Three Kings; they have 52 tag matches under their belt.

Kreed's history together, a quick results filter tells me, yields a 40-17-5 Win-Lose-Draw ratio, a highest rating of 100 (once against the Lions, and once last month when they faced Joey and Wolf before. That time, they lost), and an average of 90.

As Regis says, they don't promo often, but they, the Lions and the Machines are the cornerstones of TCW's 2009 tag scene (and yes, this despite a lengthy title run by GenOme).

Jack & Ricky DeColt w/ Hotstuff Marie

A nice enough opening contest here as the DeColts continue to warm up for Malice in Wonderland. The Boys fight back, and even lay Jack out at one point with the Spanish Fly, but Ricky makes the save.

Ricky seems to have the Boys scouted, however, countering their big moves with purpose-designed counters as if he'd been facing them for years.

He turns the tables almost more than his big brother's submission expertise, eventually sending Jimmy out of the ring with a variant Rickyrana before Jack sets up a powerbomb – and the two nail the Welcome To DeColt Country to pick up the win!

“...not even on the card,” Bloodstone is saying as he rounds a corner backstage, cellphone clamped to his ear. “That's been happening a lot lately, man.

“Huh? No, I just -” He stops, looking up at the ceiling. His eyes line with tears for a moment, though he blinks them away, exhaling. “Don't make me say it, man.”

Another pause. “I... hell, man, I'm lost. I need a hand, I need guidance. I'm losing control again.”

“F**K YOU!” he explodes abruptly. “That's not funny, man. Don't f**king go there.”

A shorter pause, and at the end of it, Bloodstone squeezes his eyes shut. “She... left me, man.

“She left me on TV. You seriously didn't see?

“Yeah, I know you guys are busy wrestling, I just...” He sighs, leaning against a wall, eyes closed. “Man, you were the other guy up North who turned me round got me calm, got me winning. We never got a chance to... but I don't have Amy. I need a friend, OK?”

“...Thanks. Can you... I know it's short notice. Can you make Malice? Alright. I owe you.

“I'll see you there, man.”

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/RhinoUmaga.jpg

The big screen remains active, but shifts. Power by Kanye West begins to play. Highlights of Rhino Umaga's recent resurgence begin to play, and his voice floats over them.

“Frankie Perez will tell you I cost him something. That he has a legit grudge. A grudge worth signing up for a fight just to betray the man against you.

“That's not my way... and that's not how I tell it.”

The video package starts to shift, focusing on the fights Perez has been talking about.

“I was raised by wrestlers. My uncle used to rest me on his knee and he taught me how the world works.

“He told me you set your fights aside. Then you get in the ring, and a man with the power to rings a bell, and you settle your beef then and there – and when it's settled, not a moment before, that man with the power rings the bell again, and it's done.

“That matters in wrestling but it's guided me in life, too. There's a time and a place for a beef. If you've got one, you lay it out, you look the other guy in the eye, and you see who wins through.

“As far as Perez is concerned our beef starts when I cost him a title shot. As far as I'm concerned, our beef starts when he lied to me. When he broke the way the world runs smooth.

“But I'll tell you this, he's right about one thing.

“We got beef. And Malice in Wonderland, I stop setting that beef aside. We get in the ring. A man with the power to rings a bell. And Frankie Perez gets the hell beat out of him.”

Nichiren Amagawa vs. Tommy Cornell

Amagawa looks Cornell up and down at the start of the match, while Cornell is getting ready for him, and Amagawa smirks, shrugging disdainfully.

Cornell comes in, and Amagawa goes for a takedown -

Well, he loses that one. And the next. But the third, he gets the advantage – and after a moment, Duane Fry has to admit that the lock Amagawa has clamped down is “something I've never seen before but I guarantee you you don't want to feel it.”

Cornell has to fight hard to counter it. He bails to the outside, nursing his arm, staring at the youngster open-mouthed, as the announce team remind everyone that with barely more than a week before his World Heavyweight Championship match, he needs to not have an arm damaged.

Back he goes in, though, and this time he's more careful, treating the youngster seriously. The results are rapid; Tommy Cornell turns the match around, nailing the Rough Ride to pin Amagawa.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/SteveDeColt_Self1.jpg

Steve DeColt, wearing a CGC T-shirt in a deep yellow, is hanging out backstage, leaning against a lockbox that houses lighting gear, talking to a number of highly-attractive women. One of them laughs at something he said just before the mic got close enough to pick it up.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/ArtReed.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/GregGauge-1.jpg

Art Reed and Greg Keith step past the cluster in the corridor. After a moment, Reed pauses and turns back. “Sorry, ladies,” he says, soft-spoken as always. “Steve – one question and I'll be out of your hai-”

DeColt, not looking at him, has held out his hand to cut Reed off.

“Let me see if I know what you're going to say,” he says. “This past Tuesday you went one on one with the golden world champion. You fought him,” and his other hand raises in a flourish,” for this.”

And he reaches down beside him and lifts the belt up.

“Am I about right so far?”

For the first time, he looks across, and Reed nods.

“Good,” DeColt nods. “You were pretty good, kid. You've had the tag thing here, some kind of six-man thing... I think you're gonna be a champ one day. Which brings me to what you're gonna say.

“You want that day to be soon. You want that belt to be this one.”

Reed pauses. “I want the TCW World Heavyweight Championship. I want the TCW World Tag Championship, again, with Greg.

“But that belt you're holding? I'd be proud to hold that one, too.”

DeColt looks at him again, and smiles. “My brother Alex runs the company,” he says. “I'll tell him to give you a shot after we do this thing with the Stones. Maybe here, maybe CGC. We'll work something out.

“So get training, kid. Because whenever you go after this...” He holds the belt up. “...you take a walk in DeColt Country.

“See, Alex talks business. Jack's a joker. Ricky's the family black sheep, he studies up; if it wasn't for his hair you'd think he was a Stone.

“But me? I'm the big brother. I'm the measuring stick for my generation. You want to step up, I'll fight you. I don't have problems for long... they get lost in the stampede.

“Alex runs things. Jack hangs loose. Ricky studies. I win.”

Reed looks steadily back at him. “You live in the Country.” DeColt nods, fractionally. “I learned in the House.”

With that, he turns, heading to the locker room with his partner. Steve watches him go for a minute, grins, and turns back to the girls. “You girls wanna see a party trick?” he asks. They giggle, and he starts to take his shirt off. The camera cuts away.

Team VIPER w/ Baroness Emily

There's an interesting match in this one, but that's not what's notable about it. This is one of the first matches ELITE have been involved in not laden down with interference.

It's pretty clear that Double J don't believe that's going to be necessary, and while VIPER show their stuff strongly, it still seems for much of the match that ELITE are absolutely right.

VIPER fight back – they fight back hard, and at one point Miyazaki boosts Maverick up as if for a wheelbarrow suplex, only for Ota to flip over the ropes, grabbing Maverick's head on the way down for an assisted facedriver.

Nonetheless, Joe Money's power turns the tide, and in the end Shingen Miyazaki finds himself locked down into Maverick's Deadly Silence and forced to tap out.

The other members of Team KOBRA head down to the ring as is traditional at this point.

Team VIPER take their positions in the middle of the circle as the Baroness readies her bokken.

Thoughtfully, Springsteen wonders aloud what happened with Hidekazu – when Pathlow, then Thunder Snake, was getting ready to rebel, so was Hidekazu. Since, however, he's been a model KOBRA wrestler.

The bokken shots come down as Fry comments on Tyler's allegations that KOBRA have hired the Enforcers to turn the tide in some of their matches.

Monsters of Myth vs. JeriLynn Stone & Kate Dangerous

There's a brawl in here, but Stone and Dangerous have their own designs on the match. They slowly, but surely, lock Gorgon out of it, taking a beating to do it but eventually keeping Cherry in the ring and wearing her down with hold after hold, staggering her.

Gradually, their plan starts to really unfold. Focused and total homework, and Cherry Bomb is worn down thoroughly. Kate whips her into their corner, then tags out.

JeriLynn sets the Girl's Best Friend, and hits it – and Kate Dangerous takes a Hydra Bomb to prevent Gorgon breaking up the pin in time.

Shout At The Devil begins to play, and Mayhem Midden arrives at the entrance, holding his mic. He takes a look around the crowd, nodding in satisfaction.

“I put that match together,” he begins, “because I wanted to make a point.

“JeriLynn, I hope you were paying attention at the end there. Your friend Kate took the move that ended her title reign again, to save the match for the pair of you.

“You two have watched each others' backs for months. You face off with the Leading Lights together and it comes out... even.

“But in a little over a week JeriLynn goes to England and she faces both of them, one fall to a finish, and her title is on the line.

“And Kate isn't in that match. And...

“Well. Not to speak poorly of our number one contenders. But they got there by being undefeated and staying undefeated, and there's,” he grins wryly, “one or two bits of footage that show them taking shortcuts.

“I don't want that to happen at Malice. At the same time, I'm refusing to bring Kate in there – she might just be as biased the other way.

“So I thought about this, and I've got just the thing.” Tell Me Where It Hurts – the theme to the upcoming Malice in Wonderland – begins to play. “Someone who can beat down on anyone in that match who's trouble, but who can't be beaten back. Someone who has the strength and conviction to do it.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I want you to welcome to TCW our Special Guest Enforcer – one hell of a fighter – Gina Carano!”

She comes out with a smile, picks the nearest camera, and throws some punches. The camera catches JeriLynn's reaction; intrigued, pleased, confident.

There's something of an oddness to this match. The Party are fast – they're lightning fast. Eddie Chandler is a gifted technical wrestler, but he can't keep up with their speed – and Dan DaLay is far from being a swift wrestler, for obvious reasons.

Nonetheless, ELITE are able to control the pace except during tags – those tags cause trouble, with Lover or Edd showcasing what they can do, and the announce team dwell on what Edd's performance against ELITE might mean for his credibility against the DeColts, on the fact Chandler will meet Lover in the Shot At the Top – with one having arguably the toughest path, the other the easiest.

Jacob Jett and Joey Money make their presence felt after a while – Jett distracts Sparrow, and Money nails the Wall Street Crash on Lover.

They don't have it all their own way for long – Rhino Umaga crashes into Money, bundling him out of the ring, and before Jett can get involved, the lights go out.

When they come back up, Duane Stone is right behind Jett, and he scores with a Stone's Throw on the outside.

That's good – but Lover is out of commission, and DaLay lays Edd out with a big boot, then another while he's seated, and Eddie Chandler sneaks in for the Fabulous Stretch and the win.

Kreed vs. Joey Minnesota & Wolf Hawkins w/ Phil Vibert

Greg Keith starts this one, and after some deliberation it's Hawkins who gets in the ring opposite him. They circle before locking up, and when they do Hawkins starts powering forward, looking to back Greg into the corner – but Greg shifts that quickly, transitioning and nearly getting a German suplex before Wolf realises the tide has changed and moves to a counter.

Wolf snapmares Greg forward, but somehow Greg catches one of the champ's arms, rolling forward and dragging Wolf down. The champ lands well, though, popping up and going for a dropkick, only for Keith to get both arms up and bat it away.

Wolf hits the mat – and keeps moving, spinning round to sweep Greg's legs out from under him. It's been a fast and fluid exchange, and the champion knows he has to stay on top of the young Keith if the advantage he's just won is going to mean anything – but he also knows it's going to be tough.

Hawkins stomps away at Greg's shoulder, but Greg twists away from that, rising to his knees and past his knees fast, continuing to twist – discus punch by Keith is ducked by Hawkins, but Greg immediately reverses direction on it, catching Wolf in the back of the head with an elbow.

Wolf staggers away; Greg looks for a dropkick, and it's Hawkins' turn to slap the oncoming boots away before rolling out of the ring.

Joey Minnesota enters the ring seemingly entirely unfazed. He crosses fast and calls for a test of strength.

After a few moments' consideration, Greg goes for it, only to find that Phil Viberts' longest-acknowledged protege does indeed have the strength advantage, overpowered, forced to the mat – ONE, TWO, THR- Keith forces the shoulder up, and as soon as he's sure the count is broken, lets it drop again.

But he does that to free up one of the feet he'd been bracing with. Three straight kicks to Minnesota's midsection break the hold and allow Greg his shoulder up a hair after the two count; Greg hangs on to the arm, looking for a kimura, but Joey twists out of it and punts him in the face.

Greg backs away and Joey goes after him; Keith drops to the mat abruptly, allowing Minnesota's onrush to take him into the path of a slick, fluid legsweep. Rather than follow up, however, he rolls out of the ring.

Art Reed vaults to the top, then soars forward in a simple splash, coming down with a solid impact nonetheless. He immediately grabs Joey's right arm, applying a kimura of his own, shifting for extra leverage on it.

For a long moment, Joey writhes in it before finding the positioning he needs, with his superior strength, to twist away, forcing Art's shoulders to the mat! ONE, TWO – Art releases the hold in order to kick out.

Reed shifts back, going for the offence, and Joey meets him with a fireman's carry takedown. He looks for an early, fast Minnesota Cloverleaf, and Reed gets his legs high enough to send Joey flying with a headscissors before handspringing to his feet, hitting the ropes, and coming off with a lariat that takes Minnesota down.

Reed drops a knee into Joey's shoulder before picking him up, lifting him and clearly aiming for a shoulderbreaker, but Joey shows athleticism of his own, landing on his feet and nailing Reed with a Northern Lights Suplex! Cover! ONE, TWO, TH- NO!

Reed battles out with chops and whips Minnesota toward the corner – Minnesota reverses – short-arm lariat! He holds on, pulling Art up by his dreads – second attempt is blocked – Reed twists into an armwringer – showing tremendous athleticism by pasting Joey's face with kicks within the hold. A short arm DDT follows, and Minnesota exits the ring.

Wolf comes in fast, staggering Art with rights and lefts, then a big backdrop – Reed lands on his feet, but promptly eats a flying shoulderblock from the champion, who pops up fast and lays in a couple of stomps before whipping Art into the corner, charging after him. He nails a lariat, then whips Reed into the next corner.

Backing up again, he comes out hard and fast for another lariat, but Reed ducks this one. Wolf crashes shoulder-first into the top turnbuckle and Reed nails a half-nelson suplex – something Duane Fry notes, with some surprise, as being a signature of Kate Dangerous. Art covers – ONE, TWO – but as Wolf kicks out, Reed rolls back out of the ring.

Greg Keith comes in at a run, hitting something like a charging enzuigiri – but to the champion's shoulder. Kreed have seen an opening and they fluidly adapt, taking the strategy to wear down Minnesota's arm and applying it to Wolf, as Greg scores with a single-arm DDT before Wolf kicks him loose from a grounded armbar.

In comes Greg again and this time Wolf's backdrop scores. He hits the ropes and comes off with a running elbowdrop to the grounded Keith, looking good but turning away to check his shoulder.

He pulls Greg up – suplex – then up again, guiding him into one of the empty corners. A volley of punches staggers Keith and Wolf boosts him up onto the top, then goes up after him, self-evidently aiming for the – SOLO SPANISH FLY! He looks across to Reed, grinning, after hitting it.

Fry barely has time to remind the fans that Reed himself managed to counter that, landing on his feet for a piledriver, before Wolf covers Greg – ONE, TWO, THRE-

Art Reed manages to get there with a flying legdrop to break it up.

Greg stays in, though, grabbing Wolf's arm and looking for an arm wrench or two, shaking his head to clear the cobwebs even as he does so. Hawkins manages to punch clear, though, and Joey Minnesota comes in, teaming with Wolf. On either side of Greg they rain in punches.

Minnesota transitions to those big kicks of his to the midsection, driving Greg down to one knee, and Wolf goes for the Full Moon Rising -

SOMEHOW, Greg Keith got an arm in the way! He's almost all the way down, but his head was saved from the kick! Minnesota drives a foot into the side of his head instead in frustration, ignoring Sam Sparrow's increasingly stern warnings that one or the other member of Generation Omega should vacate the ring.

In comes Reed, delivering a harsh series of chops to the chest of his former DaVE colleage, and that allows Greg to recover, staggering Wolf with a pair of European uppercuts.

Sparrow gives all four men another warning and Reed takes off to the far side of the ring at speed; Greg, meanwhile, sents Wolf crashing into Joey with a savage whip to the injured arm, then drops to his hands and knees.

Art comes back as fast as he left, stepping up onto Greg's back, grabbing three-quarter facelocks on both opponents as he passes between them, flying over the top rope to drop both men's throats on the ropes.

They whiplash back away – and rise as one, both clearly coldly furious.

Greg does his best, but one man against that duo is always going to be tough, if not impossible; Reed slides back in.

Both of the Kreed start throwing punches, but both of the Kreed are slowly worn down; they're clearly losing individually, but Sam Sparrow does the only thing he can do; neither team will adhere to tag rules, and the bell must be rung for the double disqualification.

The Kreed fought Joey Minnesota & Wolf Hawkins to a double disqualification

Well PS, you could almost say...

It's the Final Countdown.

they have 52 tag matches under their belt.

...Yep, I'm off by a bit, yeah.

~~~
I'm predicting Bloodstone calling in...well, let's see. It's not Stone Jr., because he's not a moron. Tim Westybrook is a cool enough guy that can pull his own weight (well, carryably, anyway). Dark Angel would be a ridiculous steal; he's the workhorse of my NOTBPW and one of the few guys with Green morale. Can-Am Blondes might be jerkish enough to be all, where's the lady, but I'd expect them to have actually watched the show.
I have a feeling this isn't a default 2010 NOTBPW guy (which, since you were in 2008, is possible). If it's Joey Poison, I will lol all the way to tears.
~~~

Still not a big fan of Rhino. /shrug

~~~
DeColt, not looking at him, has held out his hand to cut Reed off.
I imagined The Rock.
“You girls wanna see a party trick?”
NO GOD NO THIS IS NOT BATMAN
~~~

What are Gina Carano's stats?

~~~
They don't have it all their own way for long – Rhino Umaga crashes into Money, bundling him out of the ring, and before Jett can get involved, the lights go out.
When they come back up, Duane Stone is right behind Jett, and he scores with a Stone's Throw on the outside.
In the SWF, his gimmick is that he's never seen moving apart from hitting someone with a move.
~~~

After a few moments' consideration, Greg goes for it, only to find that Phil Viberts' longest-acknowledged protege does indeed have the strength advantage, overpowered, forced to the mat – ONE, TWO, THR- Keith forces the shoulder up

Best finish ever. Test of Strength pressed down into a pin. Not a capture suplex or anything, just pressed down into a pin.

Reed nails a half-nelson suplex – something Duane Fry notes, with some surprise, as being a signature of Kate Dangerous

Almost like they're spending time outside the ring, practicing them rasslin moves. I'd imagine they use a mattress, y'know, since they want to be safe and all.

~~

Wow. Looking at my real predictions (i.e. "I'm wrong on this one,") I actually got the card right. Woo!

Wednesday January 17th 2010

“The best-laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley.”

No, seriously. This is apparently the saying I was grasping for, according to Maggie. What an agley is, I've got no idea, but this week my best-laid plans just ganged it aft.

I really don't like the idea of being accused of nepotism. I spent my early career with Preston Holt's CPW, and believe me, if you want to see nepotism, that was the place. It hurt a lot of the people involved when they moved on, and that lesson's stayed with me throughout my career.

Nobody gets to the top in this business without people backing them. I don't think that's a bad thing; most of our big names have picked at least one younger wrestler to take under their wing, while some like Eric Tyler quietly guide a lot of young workers, looking to profit by the reputation and by the obvious feud potential down the line.

But it still sits awkwardly with me. I had Art Reed in my sights to be a top man from the beginning, but for whatever reason he didn't catch fire in 2008 the way a lot of the other wrestlers being given the same treatment were. With Greg alongside him, though, he not only exploded up the ranks but rapidly filled out to the point where he became a go-to man for one on one matches, too. I think it's fair to say that anyone watching through 2009 might assume Reed was being set up as the secondary opponent for Wolf after Tommy, someone who might win the title at Total Mayhem if Wolf triumphs at Malice in Wonderland.

And then, a few months ago now, he started dating my daughter. I made plans to stage down his top-level run – not making him vanish, but gradually reduce his role – chance my arm with a second Kreed tag run in 2010, and allow Art to do what I know he can and prove his worth before running at the title again.

Two things have changed that; first, the buzz the dirtsheets have created, with Art being named the top wrestler of last year. Second – and arguably more importantly – Steve DeColt hand-picked Art as his opponent for the CGC belt. So suddenly Art finds himself with a top-rank solo feud in the offing... and I have to rewrite things.

Art isn't just a red herring in the Shot At the Top match anymore – he has a genuine chance to win the Ticket To The Top, though he's not, at present, my preferred choice (but a match like that, the decision goes down to the day before). I'm not sure how happy I am with this, but... well, on the plus side, it puts me back on the course I was originally planning, or near enough.

I don't know. We're only a week away. Most plans are set in stone. Having one change puts me on edge.

But I'm looking forward to the coming months. Maybe a little bit more, now.

The Best of Seven series has rolled on all the way to match 6, and that's what's going to kick off the night. If Sean Deeley loses again, he loses his International Championship to Freddy Huggins - to retain, he'll have to win tonight, and then one last battle, likely at Malice in Wonderland.

The Conquering Kings are possibly the last stop on the road to Malice for the New Wave - but will it be a proud stride or a stumble, just before they collide with the British Lions with tag team gold on the line?

Eternal Party also have their parts to play in Malice, and both men could record historic wins on night one. Before that, though, they face the talented International Air. Momentum can be a psychological lever in pro wrestling, and this one could tip the scales, one way or the other.

Nichiren Amagawa's a newcomer to TCW, though with impeccable references - he was sent to us through the training of super junior legend Dark EAGLE and hardcore legend Nemesis, though he excels in submission. His opponent tonight is a big name - Jack Bruce, who also will soon collide in a big Malice match. But will he be walking wounded?

Tag team action continues, as the Leading Lights practice by facing off with Melody and Raven. It's not the same as a triple threat match, it has to be said...

In the semi-main event, Duane Stone unites with Jeremy for the first time in years. The head of the House of Stone and the man who strikes like a black cobra - their opponents should be worried, but Elimination Protocol will be looking nonetheless for win number five - and they might just make it.

The main event features trios action. The Kings of Wrestling have unity, but the other side makes history; Steve DeColt teams with Aaron Andrews and Tommy Cornell. You couldn't get more wrestling royalty in a match without it demanding PPV fees - but this, you'll see for free...

Prediction Key:

It will be 3-3 after this one.

Conquering Kings (Barry Kingman & Clark Alexander) w/ Alanis Springsteen vs. New Wave w/ Blonde Bombshell

Way more established.

Eternal Party (Champagne Lover & Edd Stone) vs. International Air (Adam Matravers & Mr Lucha III)

Party is higer on the pecking order.

Jack Bruce vs. Nichiren Amagawa

Again, Bruce is simply way more established.

Leading Lights (Michelle Cox & Serena Starr) vs. Melody & Raven

Doing lot more.

Elimination Protocol (Kirk Jameson & Warren Technique) vs. Duane & Jeremy Stone

Bigger names.

Kings of Wrestling (Matthew Keith, Bobby Thomas & Nate Johnson) vs. Aaron Andrews, Steve DeColt & Tommy Cornell

Tough one, I go with draw.

BEST OF SEVEN SERIES MATCH SIX

TCW International Championship

Sean Deeley © w/ Laura Huggins 2 --- 3 Freddy Huggins

1. Because a draw makes things fun and potentially causes the whole series to be a draw, making this whole thing pointless.

2. Because Freddy Huggins sucks and shouldn't be near the title.

3. WHYYYYYYY HUGGINS WHYYYYY I HATE YOU

4. You need a...let's see..."Deelorean" tag team. Sean Deeley and Sean McFly. Most campy team name and awesomest team ever.

Edit: 5. Huggins needs to use a Bear Hug.

Conquering Kings (Barry Kingman & Clark Alexander) w/ Alanis Springsteen vs. New Wave w/ Blonde Bombshell

If this was "Attitude Era" SWF, Kingman and Alexander would probably be having, or already had, a friendly fued over which "King" would "Conquer" Sprinsteen first.

Alas, I must wait for the inevitable-yet-boring feud with Kings of Wrestling.

Eternal Party (Champagne Lover & Edd Stone) vs. International Air (Adam Matravers & Mr Lucha III)

Team Jerk vs. one of the best-mannered rookies and also Adam Matravers. God I hate Edd Stone and also you.

Jack Bruce vs. Nichiren Amagawa

>_>

<_<

>____________________________________>

Leading Lights (Michelle Cox & Serena Starr) vs. Melody & Raven

Even though Raven is impeccably hot.

Elimination Protocol (Kirk Jameson & Warren Technique) vs. Duane & Jeremy Stone

...

I just squeezed the top of my nose, y'know, between the eyes. I apparently got some of my...eyehole? The skin around the eye, near the nose, in the pinch. Because they hurt.

I did that because this match is forgone and I'm surprised it's the semi-main. Well...okay, given one team and...I don't think Kirk's that good to matter for his side, but TechCobra is freaking badass.

Oh, and THUNDA SNAKE REDEBUT

Kings of Wrestling (Matthew Keith, Bobby Thomas & Nate Johnson) vs. Aaron Andrews, Steve DeColt & Tommy Cornell

Because Andrews isn't royalty. Now you swap him for papa Keith, that's a ridiculous team. Or Faith, I guess. Or a Vessey. Or...I'm trying to think of generational stars...oh! El Mitico Jr.! I'm calling someone dropping Andrews backstage and he makes a surprise debut, pinning all three of the opposition before stunnering his team. He then goes on a tweenerface rebel run, spoiling the grand Stone/DeColt matchup while also screwing both Generation Omega and ELITE at every turn.

Well, no shit.

Conquering Kings (Barry Kingman & Clark Alexander) w/ Alanis Springsteen vs. New Wave w/ Blonde Bombshell

JOBBERS.

Eternal Party (Champagne Lover & Edd Stone) vs. International Air (Adam Matravers & Mr Lucha III)

JOBBERS.

Jack Bruce vs. Nichiren Amagawa

JOBBER.

Leading Lights (Michelle Cox & Serena Starr) vs. Melody & Raven

PROBABLY JOBBER, IT'S HARD TO TELL IN THE WOMEN'S DIVISION.

Elimination Protocol (Kirk Jameson & Warren Technique) vs. Duane & Jeremy Stone

JOBBERS (for now, at least.)

Kings of Wrestling (Matthew Keith, Bobby Thomas & Nate Johnson) vs. Aaron Andrews, Steve DeColt & Tommy Cornell

Sorry, but these three need the win more.

Oh, and one thing to note here...

I've picked up the pace a bit this last storyline month. This is because I knew a crunch point at work was coming in the nebulous but near future. It's arrived; there is a good chance you'll see heavy slowdown before the next show. We may be back to the week-or-so between major shows, and I intend to write both PPV nights before posting either, so there could be real slowdown there.

So bear with me on that, please.

Should we synchronise big shows? I figure if you have two nights to post, and I'll probably split mine across three posts, that's an easy Monday-Friday spread :p

BEST OF SEVEN SERIES MATCH SIX

TCW International Championship

Sean Deeley © w/ Laura Huggins 2 --- 3 Freddy Huggins Yeah, this isn't even a tricky one. I suppose you might throw in a draw to keep us guessing...

Conquering Kings (Barry Kingman & Clark Alexander) w/ Alanis Springsteen vs. New Wave w/ Blonde Bombshell Did I miss BB joining the Wave? I seem to recall that only happened a couple of shows back...

Eternal Party (Champagne Lover & Edd Stone) vs. International Air (Adam Matravers & Mr Lucha III) EP may have dropped a match last time out, but not here.

Jack Bruce vs. Nichiren Amagawa Amagawa has an awesome render, but not that good.

Leading Lights (Michelle Cox & Serena Starr) vs. Melody & Raven Cox & Starr might actually drop a DQ loss here, but mainly I think they overpower the mono-monikered ones.

Elimination Protocol (Kirk Jameson & Warren Technique) vs. Duane & Jeremy Stone Know what? I think is ELITE time...

Kings of Wrestling (Matthew Keith, Bobby Thomas & Nate Johnson) vs. Aaron Andrews, Steve DeColt & Tommy Cornell One of these guys has a World title match at Malice, and it's not one of the Kings...

Well, I have four diaries, so I could double-feature the weekend!

Anyway, are EP high enough that Jeremy and/or Duane won't complain about losing to them? Also, I just realized that Eternal Party would also be EP, but I mean Elimination Protocol.

Duane wasn't that over in the US when I brought him in, hence debuting him in Canada and spamming the crap out of him. Jezza hasn't complained about any match I've given him yet; then again, nor has Sam Keith, who has veto power, partly because I don't tend to job them to fresh rookies.

Kirk has hit Midcard, and Warren is Lower Midcard. Jezza is currently UM, though i think this is due to sheer size of roster.

...

JC: Honestly, I doubt I'll get Malice out before June. I might, but...
