TCW: A Quiet Retirement

Art Reed & Hell Monkey w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy

Normally I would go with named team but Reed is the only guy here who have had some TV time lately

Chance Fortune vs. Marat Khoklov

Haven´t seen Fortune for some time and he probably hopes that I wouldn´t see him here either

Rhino Umaga vs. Texas Pete

Pete is more established

Amber Allen & Suzanne Brazzle vs. Lauren Easter & Raku Makuda

No idea really

American Buffalo & Sayeed Ali w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. The Machines

no way for Machines to lose this one

Acid w/ Laura Huggins vs. Chris Rockwell

Acid isn´t really doing anything so Rockwell takes this one

Rick Law vs. Sammy Bach (non-title)

It´s Law´s show after all

Art Reed & Hell Monkey w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy

JOBBERS!

Chance Fortune vs. Marat Khoklov

JOBBER!

Rhino Umaga vs. Texas Pete

MOSTLY JOBBER!

Amber Allen & Suzanne Brazzle vs. Lauren Easter & Raku Makuda

Suzanne looks like one of the more likely prospecta around these parts.

American Buffalo & Sayeed Ali w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. The Machines

JOBBER! ALSO JOBBER TO THE STARS!

Acid w/ Laura Huggins vs. Chris Rockwell

Rockwell's been out of the spotlight for a while, and Acid is nowhere near his level.

Rick Law vs. Sammy Bach (non-title)

His show. Well, could be a draw. But I refuse to choose logically here.

<p><strong>Art Reed & Hell Monkey</strong> w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy</p><p>

<em>- Floyd Jobworthy, leading his men to another defeat. Plus Art has to get ready for his Stage in the Cage.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Chance Fortune vs. <strong>Marat Khoklov</strong></p><p>

<em>- I'm an unabashed Fortune fan but... to quote some other verse. "You've got no Chance. You've got no Chance. No Chance in Heeeeeeeeeeeell."</em></p><p> </p><p>

Rhino Umaga vs. <strong>Texas Pete</strong></p><p>

<em>- Pete can't afford to job his way back down the roster and back into development. Can he? Pete debuts his new move... the Lone Star Leglock!</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Amber Allen & Suzanne Brazzle</strong> vs. Lauren Easter & Raku Makuda</p><p>

<em>- Mostly because I dig Brazzle's new rerender and it's good to debut a new face strongly.</em></p><p> </p><p>

American Buffalo & Sayeed Ali w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. <strong><strong>The Machines</strong></strong></p><p>

<em><em>- Jobworthy, double jobbing duty tonight!</em></em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><strong>Acid</strong></strong> w/ Laura Huggins vs. Chris Rockwell</p><p>

<em>- Personal preference, I've always marked for Acid and he and Rockwell have a long history together (I think.) Maybe after this match (and being left of PPV) Rockwell can refind his ability and mojo.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><strong>Rick Law</strong></strong> vs. Sammy Bach (non-title)</p><p>

<em>- non-title, Law's show. Likely via DQ for some reason.</em></p>

<p><strong>Art Reed & Hell Monkey</strong> w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Reed's a credible midcard type, and Monkey should be. Hard to say if they're a team going forward... I feel like Monkey's gimmick is hard to get a grasp on. He's a serious worker, but also... a monkey... from hell? I don't see that working for Sam Keith.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Meanwhile The Fly Boys are a team, but they don't win. So I'm not picking them to win, then.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Chance Fortune vs. <strong>Marat Khoklov</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Khoklov wins by squash. Like, almost always he wins by squash. But especially here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Rhino Umaga vs. <strong>Texas Pete</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>It must be nice to be able to afford a guy like Rhino Umaga to job for you.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Amber Allen & Suzanne Brazzle vs. <strong>Lauren Easter & Raku Makuda</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Total guess. Easter's the only worker here I have any knowledge/opinion of, and even that is just the basic awareness that she's a protege of Hell Monkey.</em></p><p> </p><p>

American Buffalo & Sayeed Ali w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. <strong>The Machines</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Mismatched team with one jobber loses to one of the promotion's best duos.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Acid </strong>w/ Laura Huggins vs. Chris Rockwell</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Rockwell hits rock bottom. There's a story about him redeeming itself, but I don't think he's about to turn around JUST yet.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rick Law</strong> vs. Sammy Bach (non-title)</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Yeah, Bach just had a great match with Minnesota. Law's had great matches with a lot of people. And he's much more important from a PPV perspective. Don't get me wrong, I'm reconsidering Bach after writing him off for a while, but I don't pick against Rick Law on Badge.</em></p>

<p><strong>Art Reed & Hell Monkey w/ Blonde Bombshell</strong> vs. Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy</p><p> </p><p>

<em>As others have implied here, the Fly Boys may be the named team but they still have the stench of job fodder. Reed might be career midcard material but he's credible in that role and Hell Monkey needs to start kicking on and be built as a credible threat for the All Action belt. </em></p><p> </p><p>

Chance Fortune vs. <strong>Marat Khoklov</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Chance Fortune, lives up to his Lucky nickname and pulls out a surprise win.....</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<em>Yeah as if Khoklov is going to murder him.</em> </p><p> </p><p>

Rhino Umaga vs. <strong>Texas Pete</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Pete has put his time in development to improve his game and has emerged as a credible (there's that word again) prescence on the TCW roster, Umaga still has to pay his dues that bit more.</em> </p><p> </p><p>

Amber Allen & Suzanne Brazzle vs. <strong>Lauren Easter & Raku Makuda</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Could go either way but I'll go for Easter & Makuda. </em></p><p> </p><p>

American Buffalo & Sayeed Ali w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. <strong>The Machines</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Jobworthy sends his band of jobbers into defeat once more. Worst Manager ever</em> <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Acid w/ Laura Huggins vs. <strong>Chris Rockwell</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Rockwell might be having mental problems, but Acid hasn't really done enough in TCW to warrant going over here and besides if this was going to be a breakout win for Acid, I'm sure it would at least take place on Total Wrestling and not on Badge of Honor.</em> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rick Law</strong> vs. Sammy Bach (non-title)</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Bach's been doing well of late but Law needs to stay strong as part of the babyface team for the Cage Wars.</em></p>

vs. Fly Boys w/ Floyd Goldworthy</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Actually a very good match, this contest had the one major flaw that no one really cared. Those who stayed in their seats were treated to a good, fluid display, though constant losses appear to be taking their toll on the Fly Boys – no longer nearly so optimistic as they were following their alliance under Floyd Goldworthy. </p><p> </p><p>

Those cracks provide openings to people with the speed of Hell Monkey and the technical athleticism of Reed, and that is what will settle it; with Jimmy P down on the mat in a Dread Lock, Hell Monkey lands the Tumbling Monkey to stop Donnie interfering, securing them the victory.</p><p>

Chance Fortune vs. Marat Khoklov</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Poor, poor Chance Fortune. Like Rhino on Tuesday, he does his level best, but nothing fazes Khoklov – he just doesn't have the strength to stop him or even slow him down. Khoklov toys with him for a while before putting him away with a simple kick.</p><p>

Backstage, Tyson Baine slams through a door into Tommy Cornell's office. Cornell turns, slowly, to watch the furious big man of the Syndicate, but says nothing.</p><p> </p><p>

“Khoklov, Tommy?” Baine asks. “KHOKLOV?”</p><p> </p><p>

Cornell shrugs. “Come on, Tyson,” he says. “Sam Keith used you to decide who to put in – based on how well they beat you. Not even IF they beat you.</p><p> </p><p>

“I want you in the Syndicate, man. We've got a good thing going. But for that to happen, there has to BE a Syndicate – and that might not happen if they get by us on Sunday.”</p><p> </p><p>

Baine stares at Cornell for a long time. “Keith was right,” he says. “You had replacements lined up for everyone. I didn't think you could have one for me.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Tyson... mate, it's not like that-”</p><p> </p><p>

“Oh, it is, isn't it?” Baine shakes his head. “Sam Keith isn't going to bring the Syndicate down, Tommy. When they talk about why it ended, they're going to talk about this moment.”</p><p> </p><p>

He stalks back out of the room.</p><p> </p><p>

Rhino Umaga vs. Texas Pete</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Umaga fares better than he had on Tuesday, but he's still overmatched – this time on speed; while Umaga seems to have almost Pete's power, he just doesn't have the pace that the big Texan has recently picked up. A running big boot heralds the Lone Star Drop, and Texas Pete notches up another win.</p><p>

Amber Allen & Suzanne Brazzle vs. Lauren Easter & Raku Makuda</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

A good contest, if a little short to really showcase the four women involved. Easter and Makuda work very well together, capitalising on a slight experience lack by Amber Allen, most notably when Easter sinks her with the Solstice Bomb.</p><p>

Backstage again, and Mayhem Midden has located Carl Batch.</p><p> </p><p>

“Hey, Carl,” he begins. “You pass on my congratulations to your boys on a decisive win this Tuesday?”</p><p> </p><p>

Batch instantly looks wary. “Now look, there is nothing about what we did that was outside the rules of the match-”</p><p> </p><p>

“Oh, no, I completely agree.”</p><p> </p><p>

The manager nods, his eyes still darting, checking for the problem. “And TCW offers comprehensive health insurance, so the injuries inflicted aren't-”</p><p> </p><p>

“No, they're not,” Midden beams.</p><p> </p><p>

Batch swallows. “This isn't about Tuesday,” he says.</p><p> </p><p>

“Nope.”</p><p> </p><p>

“So it's about Sunday.”</p><p> </p><p>

Midden levels a finger like a gun. “Smart man, Carl.”</p><p> </p><p>

Carl swallows again. “Who do we have?”</p><p> </p><p>

“The British Lions,” Midden says, and Carl visibly untenses slightly.</p><p> </p><p>

“They haven't fought us before,” he says. “It's a lot of scouting, but sure, Ken, you got a title match.”</p><p> </p><p>

Midden chuckles. “Because their whole thing is about figuring out how to counter what you did last time? Like I say, Carl, you're a smart man. But you should have let me finish.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Huh?”</p><p> </p><p>

“The Easy Riders... versus the British Lions... versus the Keith Brothers... versus Team VIPER.” Midden grins. “Considering champs AND number one contenders suffered losses, the least I could do for The War to Settle The Score is to make this a Tag War.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Wait - “ Batch looks genuinely worried. “Tag War? Not just one fall?”</p><p> </p><p>

Midden shakes his head. “You'll have to beat all three, not just one.” He claps the crestfallen manager on the shoulder. “I know it's a lot of scouting, Carl, but at least you already know one of the teams – arguably the best.” And Midden moves off, smiling cheerfully.</p><p> </p><p>

American Buffalo & Sayeed Ali w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. The Machines</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

A comparatively swift battle, this one, with Ali faring better against the Machines than does the Buffalo – caught, exposed, and driven into a rage with the Machines' careful baiting, Buffalo becomes rather a liability to his own side, and one that can eventually be contained and put away with the Ammo Dump.</p><p>

John Anderson collects a microphone afterward. “It's less than two years,” he begins, “since almost none of you knew me.</p><p> </p><p>

“2006, we came in here and we took the tag division by storm. Two tag team title reigns already. But when we came in, almost no one knew us. Now? You know who we are. Winners. Champions. Some of the best technical wrestlers in the world.</p><p> </p><p>

“That's what a Machine is. And that's what we work to be, fight to be. It means something to us... it's a name we were given, but it's a name we've made mean something.”</p><p> </p><p>

Brent Hill takes the microphone. “So often in wrestling a name like that gets taken by someone who didn't deserve it, later. We're protecting our legacy. We've found another Machine, and we're the ones who say he's good enough.</p><p> </p><p>

“We will define what it is to be a Machine – we have that right. We made the name.</p><p> </p><p>

“We give you the third Machine. We give you Marc Speed!”</p><p> </p><p>

And as the young man comes down to the ring, Anderson retrieves the microphone. “We've told you how good he is... but that's nothing compared to showing you. Anyone out the back want to put him through his paces?”</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/FreddyHuggins.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p>

After a few moments, the unlikely figure of Freddy Huggins runs down to the ring, smirking in anticipation. The two square off for a moment, and Freddy goes for the Huggins Kiss- which Speed grabs as it's coming, hitting a leg screw and transitioning into a cross armbreaker. The movement is so fluid the audience can't help but react, calling out in support, and Speed holds on long enough that it's clear Huggins can't escape before Anderson speaks again.</p><p> </p><p>

“You've got three choices, Freddy,” he says. “Tap, nap, or snap?”</p><p> </p><p>

Huggins taps out urgently.</p><p> </p><p>

Some true excellence here; the two men fight hard, seeming to be pretty much perfectly balanced, until they're interrupted.</p><p> </p><p>

Rick Law vs. Sammy Bach</p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Another strong contest, though both men have recently done much better. Sammy manages to gain the upper hand after a while, but it can't last long – his springboard bulldog is caught and countered into the Squad Car Slam, which only gets two.</p><p> </p><p>

Meanwhile, Rick comes off the other rope and once again hits the Long Arm of the Law, securing the pinfall as Eddie Peak walks down to ringside. He picks up the Hard-Hitting Championship belt and tosses it disdainfully to the recovering Peak, mouthing “Sunday” as he does so.</p><p>

Well, the Machines certainly have a surprisingly high opinion of Marc Speed.

Also surprising: the Machines have any opinion concerning Marc Speed.

Not surprising: the dev trainers have a very strong opinion of Marc Speed.

Speedball basically spent 2008 in dev, and responded pretty well across the board. I'm not going to say he's main event level, but he's a good solid hand who works a style that fits with the Machines, and not everyone's introductory push should revolve around losing. ;)

Friday 26th February 2009

Midway through the show tonight RDJ took me aside, wanting to talk to me about Sayeed Ali. The two have been getting pretty close lately – I'll be honest, I don't know exactly where that's come from – and Ricky's become concerned about Sayeed's career; we don't use him often, and when we do, he comes out the loser.

And, you know, Sayeed has been a top champion – for a much smaller promotion, sure, but the point is that he has that experience. He's only 23, and I get the impression that Ricky sees him as someone who will be big. I'm not sure whether Ricky mostly wants to help that happen, or whether he wants to be known as someone who helped that happen – which is a harsh thing to say about Ricky, but I don't quite know how he ticks on this stuff yet. He wants the business to succeed, no question, and he wants new stars to be made. But any long-term wrestler will be suspicious of motivations in a case like that.

Either way, Sayeed is someone with a lot of potential for the future. You can just say that about a lot of our roster. At the moment, it makes a lot of sense for him to be the one taking falls in his matches – I know he's had a few wins on the house circuit, but we mix things up a lot more there.

I don't think that's going to last forever. I'd say he's got a brighter future in this business than his tag partner last night (American Buffalo) but it's an unfair comparison – Buffalo is twelve years older and a slightly weaker worker. The big difference is that Buffalo has the exposure and Sayeed doesn't – it's much easier to get a reaction out of our fans when we use Buffalo right now.

Someone has to lose any given match. At the moment, that's often Sayeed's job. That may – probably will – change.

Sunday 28th February 2009

That was one of the hardest conversations I've had in a while. 'Head of Talent' I may be, but I flat-out refused to handle this one on my own.

We've just told Kyle Rhodes that we're buying off his contract. Kyle had another 22 months on the slate, though fortunately none of them were at a massive pay grade – we'll make it back inside a week of house shows – but, with the announce desk reshuffles triggered by the arrival of Saturday Night Showcase, it was time to face up to facts; Kyle's role has been slowly phased out over the last fourteen months, to a single slot on the B-show, and the product has come across better for it as Jasmine Saunders, in particular, has begun to come into her own.

In a year, perhaps a little less, I anticipate stepping out from behind the announce desk myself, leaving it to the young crew we've got coming up.

However, Kyle started with the company in December 1996. He's had a hair over twelve years with us, and cutting someone after that kind of run is painful, especially when the reason is a simple 'you're no longer what we need'. While we've got room to use more announcers and colour men now, there's no way to spin Kyle taking more work again as anything but a step back.

The end result, then, is that we started looking for other ways to use Kyle. I pushed for us to send him to Coastal Zone, who have zero colour men working there at the moment, but Kyle wouldn't hear of it.

AAA would have triggered arguments over replacing Sue Danes. FCW have a duo who are establishing themselves as a double act, and throwing someone else into there – someone better known, no less – would hurt that. In the end, the whole talk turned into an argument, and in the very end it was Tommy who said “then we're done here, aren't we, Kyle?”

By the end of February the Syndicate may be made to disband.

It's hard to believe, but it's a very real possibility. Sam Keith's team is formidable, five of the very best wrestlers active today, though they face nothing less than an equal squad. But what else will be decided this Sunday?

Eric Tyler has his International Championship on the line against the man often called the "heart of TCW", Ricky Dale Johnson, who has said he plans to prevent Tyler from damaging his legacy. Ricky could well become a four-time International Champion as we move into March.

Tag Wars come next; a four-team elimination bout featuring eight men who've shown themselves to be excellent tag competitors, all worthy of the TCW Tag Team Championships. Sunday night sees six of them challenge for it; reigning champions the Easy Riders will have their work cut out for them to survive Team VIPER, the British Lions, and perennial opposition the Keith Brothers.

A spot of ill-advised boasting by Phil Vibert has come home to roost; Mayhem Midden made the All-Action Championship match an Invitational, and as such, Frankie Perez will have to defend against five of the world's best. Once again contested under elimination rules, Perez faces TCW regulars Art Reed and Hell Monkey plus three wrestlers who are new to the company - Canadians all, this group include Nathan Priest, young rookie Davis Wayne Newton, and a grappler whose name central office have not yet released.

The War To Settle The Score next plays host to the Battle of the Bands, a battle that's been brewing since Jack Bruce returned to TCW in December. Former World Heavyweight Champion Troy Tornado faces off with the man he replaced as Painful Procedure frontman tonight. Despite initial signs of divided loyalties, Bruce appears to have alienated the musicians who now make up his former band - which is only likely to make this one worse.

After a challenge just this past Friday, Mayhem Midden's rubber-stamped Eddie Peak's bid for Sammy Bach's Hard-Hitting Championship, saying "this one promises to be bloody, brutal, and just what the belt needs." Sam Keith, the first Hard-Hitting Champion, considered Peak for his team tonight and has told us he wholeheartedly supports Eddie's bid for the belt.

Chris Rockwell sneaked out a win last month against Remo Richardson, but that's not going to be happening this time. Richardson has a score to settle, and with Last Man Standing stipulations, it's pretty clear that whoever wins tonight won't have sneaked anything. Can Rockwell put his recent run of uneven form and uncertain temper behind him? If not, it seems likely that the supreme specimen will truly be the Destroyer on Sunday.

Cage Wars come next. Five men on either side. The Syndicate's very existence at stake. There is no way you want to miss this, and that's before you consider the sides. Tommy Cornell takes with him Marat Khoklov, Jack Marlowe, Jeremy Stone and Wolf Hawkins. Sam Keith's army includes the Rising Stars Aaron Andrews and Joey Minnesota, Rick Law, and the savvy youngster Sean Deeley. What of Sam Keith's prediction that Edd Stone will get involved?

Lastly, the World Heavyweight Championship will be defended. Last month Johnny Bloodstone unified two belts and became the undisputed champion. On Sunday he comes home to Canada. He doesn't yet know his opponent, and nor do we - just that they're Phil Vibert's latest client, and that the TCW Board of Investors was happy to authorise the match. Those facts tell us that Bloodstone's opponent has got to be good... very good... so Bloodstone will begin his reign with a tough challenge.

TCW International Championship

Eric Tyler © w/ Laura Huggins vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

Normally i wouldn´t pick Tyler over RDJ but I don´t see why RDJ would need International belt so I assume this is more about giving Tyler a big win in order to make his (likely somewhat short) title run look more important

TAG WARS

TCW Tag Team Championships

Easy Riders © w/ Carl Batch vs. British Lions w/ Laura Huggins vs. Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Team VIPER w/ Baroness Emily

Could be a change coming here but I still pick the champs

ALL ACTION INVITATIONAL

TCW All-Action Championship

Frankie Perez © w/ Phil Vibert vs. Art Reed w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Davis Wayne Newton vs. Hell Monkey vs. Nathan Priest vs. ????

Unless Perez have something more important to do, I don´t see why there would need to be a title change here

Jack Bruce vs. Troy Tornado

I assume this one will continue and with Tornado being a former champ I think that Bruce needs to win this round more than Troy.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Hard-Hitting Championship

Sammy Bach © vs. Eddie Peak

Well Peak is certainly hard-hitting guy and he´s getting a push so I assume he won´t lose this one.

LAST MAN STANDING

Chris Rockwell vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert

Rockwell will eventually get a win over Remo but not yet

CAGE WARS - If the Syndicate lose, they must disband

Team Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell & Laura Huggins vs. Team Syndicate

Synticate is having inner troubles while Keith´s team isn´t

TCW World Heavyweight Championship

Johnny Bloodstone w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. ???? w/ Phil Vibert

I´m not huge fan for bringing in new guy who immidiately wins the big belt espesially not with a organisation as big as TCW. This guy got to be quite big name though considering that Remo is also Vibert´s client and he´s getting by-passed here.

TCW International Championship

Eric Tyler © w/ Laura Huggins vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

Unless Tyler has suddenly decided to retire, he'll keep this... no sense passing it over to another veteran. And while you could easily start a feud by making Tyler cheat, I don't see who is helped by a RDJ-Tyler feud.

TAG WARS

TCW Tag Team Championships

Easy Riders © w/ Carl Batch vs. British Lions w/ Laura Huggins vs. Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Team VIPER w/ Baroness Emily

A week or two ago, I would've said the Keiths. And I still think they might take it. But that A match the Riders had a couple shows ago might've just saved them their title.

ALL ACTION INVITATIONAL

TCW All-Action Championship

Frankie Perez © w/ Phil Vibert vs. Art Reed w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Davis Wayne Newton vs. Hell Monkey vs. Nathan Priest vs. ????

Personally, those are three of my favorite workers in the game, plus Whippy the clown (who's undeniably a gifted worker) and some question-mark guy. On the other hand, DWN and Priest are too new to contend, and Hell Monkey hasn't had the push he needs to be a challenger here. Much as I like Reed, I don't see him in this, so unless it's question-mark, I'm going with Frankie.

Jack Bruce vs. Troy Tornado

Bruce needs to look credible.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Hard-Hitting Championship

Sammy Bach © vs. Eddie Peak

As with the Riders match, I get the sense Bach's A* match might have saved him the belt. Peak is great, but he hasn't produced on quite that level yet.

LAST MAN STANDING

Chris Rockwell vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert

Remo's going to crush him. Bathroom break before these next two.

CAGE WARS - If the Syndicate lose, they must disband

Team Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell & Laura Huggins vs. Team Syndicate

I don't see the Syndicate as such being able to function after these latest plot developments, so they might as well lose and spare us that sight.

TCW World Heavyweight Championship

Johnny Bloodstone w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. ???? w/ Phil Vibert

Who is it?

I say Marc Dubois.

Is Marc DuBois bigger than TCW, that he has to win the belt the first time out?

Nobody's bigger than TCW. TCW is the big time, and booking a storyline in which some guy comes in from SWF and beats their champ right away makes TCW look second-class.

Even if it's not DuBois, same reasoning goes.

RDJ really doesn't need this belt, as others have said this is to strengthen Tyler's reign as champ before he transition's it to a rising star (not necessarily one of the THE RISING STARS)

TAG WARS

TCW Tag Team Championships

TCW All-Action Championship

Frankie Perez © w/ Phil Vibert vs. Art Reed w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Davis Wayne Newton vs. Hell Monkey vs. Nathan Priest vs. ????

Perez wins this to strengthen his grip on the All Action Belt, only other real possibility is the mystery guy. Was trying to remember who Nathan Priest was but then I remembered it's Whippy minus the clown make up. I suppose it makes senses in TCW for him to drop the goofy gimmick.

Jack Bruce vs. Troy Tornado

For this feud to have legs, Bruce has to win the first match, otherwise his return to TCW will have got off to a rather limp start.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Hard-Hitting Championship

Sammy Bach © vs. Eddie Peak

Peak just seems more suited to this belt and it won't hurt Bach too much if he does lose to someone the calibre of Peak.

LAST MAN STANDING

Chris Rockwell vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert

Rockwell gets it together and ends this feud, Remo lost any aura of dominance a long time ago. He doesn't even seem to be Vibert's top guy anymore, what with Vibert bringing in the mystery guy.

CAGE WARS - If the Syndicate lose, they must disband

Team Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell & Laura Huggins vs. Team Syndicate

The obvious outcome seems to be that this will be the Syndicate's last stand but I have a feeling they come through this, only to disintegrate afterwards.

TCW World Heavyweight Championship

Johnny Bloodstone w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. ???? w/ Phil Vibert

Time Limit Draw, Bloodstone retains the belt but the mystery guy puts a marker down as an instant threat. The fact that Quadruple Question Mark is making his debut with a World Title shot points to him being a massive name.

TCW Tag Team Championships

- Poor Riders, they've got a dude in their corner. This is a good way to get the titles off the Riders, who've performed better than I expected, without making them look weak. The Keith Boys are probably rocketing up the charts in popularity, this is a good way to give them their first taste of gold - before they outgrow the tag team division.

CAGE WARS - If the Syndicate lose, they must disband

Team Keith w/ Blonde Bombshell & Laura Huggins vs. Team Syndicate

I'm going to guess that 'unknown' is a DeColt. Dunno why. Personally I hope it's Derek Frost - who I've always marked hard for.

Eric Tyler w/ Laura Huggins vs. Ricky Dale Johnson

Two veterans. This is a slow match, but a suspenseful one, nonetheless; they circle, clash, come apart, circle again, watching all the while for weaknesses, analysing with each strike.

Then RDJ gets tired of the analytical approach and punches Tyler in the mouth.Tyler retaliates with, of all things, a headbutt and the pace explodes – as do the crowd.

Hard to say who's doing better. RDJ certainly has the crowd support, but the punch seems to have turned Tyler more vicious than normal. He's not going for tricks – he's just flat out brawling, and he's doing so surprisingly well.

The video screen comes to life showing Phil Vibert, flanked by Frankie Perez and Remo Richardson. Vibert grins. “One title down,” he says. “Tonight we make that two. Tonight, Remo brushes the distraction off his slate.

“Let me do you all a favour; let me remind you what we're here to do. We are going to win, we are going to dominate, and we are going to take all the money TCW has doing it.

“We are going to bleed this place dry, and you are going to have to learn to love it. Not that that's going to be hard. My little army is the best group of talent any of you people have ever seen, and we deserve all the money in wrestling. If we have to kill this sport to get all of it...” He shrugs. “We deserve it.”

Keith Brothers w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Team VIPER w/ Baroness Emily

All four teams do sterling work in the opening minutes, and the Lions and VIPER in particular are hungry to prove themselves. VIPER target Billy Fonda to start with, and by focusing on a double-team approach, they do some serious damage, but Fonda bails to allow the Lions in.

That gets frantic, very quickly, but in the end Morgan pulls Ota down into the Wigan Wrench. Ota tries, but he can't break free, and O'Curle holds Miyazaki off.

Team VIPER have been eliminated

In come the Keiths, obviously more than eager to redeem themselves after their loss against the Lions. They're fast, and as they lock up, the camera cuts briefly to the aisle, where Baroness Emily delivers the required bokken shots to the eliminated Miyazaki and Ota.

The Lions once again pick a particular target, going after Matthew Keith, working him over and over. The Keiths manage to get the Photon Breaker on O'Curle, but Morgan has the wherewithal to break the pin cover – and then the Riders charge in, crashing into Morgan from behind. An Emergency Stop promptly puts Morgan away and they go after Keith.

The British Lions have been eliminated

Matthew fights with real passion here, and it's aided by Greg – but Carl Batch is present at ringside, and all of a sudden he pulls something out from under the ring, and a baseball bat crashes into the injured knee – Peter Hopper comes in with a big boot, and that's enough to get the pin.

Midden stands up and grins. “Well, Phil, let's be honest – it isn't 'we'. It's Frankie, it's your boy. And I know he'll be in your private locker room, like always, and I know he'll be waiting, because he's got his champion's prerogative, he's coming out last and that's his right.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/ArtReed.jpg

“But you know Art Reed...”

A reasonable reaction, but not great.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/HellMonkey.jpg

“And you know Hell Monkey...”

If anything, a little weaker.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/WhippyTheClownalt1_dse81.jpg

“You won't know these three, I'm betting. But you will. Nathan Priest has a good body of work behind him, and some of this audience will know him... yeah, I'm hearing the reaction.”

Priest comes out with a grin and a smirk. “Who's got two thumbs and kicked Canada to the kerb?” he calls. “This guy!”

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/DavisWayneNewton.jpg

“A little less well known. Davis Wayne Newton. This kid didn't get in on rep, he got in on his audition tape. I don't expect to see someone that age pulling the stuff he did. I don't expect to see someone that age with the mental toughness he showed. And against the man he was wrestling, I did not expect to see someone that age pull out a win.

“I was wrong on all three counts.”

People don't seem familiar with Davis, by and large, but there's a decent courtesy pop for Midden's speech.

“None of you know the name I'm going to say next,” Midden continues. “Up here in Canada, a lot of you know the man behind it. But you should know the mask, and you should know the legacy that mask carries. If you don't, then write it down and get online after this show.

“I don't mind telling you that I can't imagine... I can't imagine having the balls to do what this man did. Because we're not the only people who got his tape. We're not the only people he pitched.

“Don't get me wrong, Phil. Don't misunderstand me. We're the only place he wanted to wrestle. But he wrote to a trio of the very, very best. He begged them, Phil. He begged them to let him into their lineage. You see the Machines trying to safeguard their legacy – these three do the same. But – and this is no offence to Brent, or John, because I think they'd agree with me – this legacy is one that means so much more, one that's built and built over decades.

vs. Hell Monkey vs. Nathan Priest

In the opening stages, this one is all Canadian Elemental, as he clobbers Newton with a dropkick as the bell sounds before whipping Hell Monkey off the ropes and steering Perez into the Tumbling Monkey that results.

Priest nails him from behind and, for a couple of moments, there's a chain wrestling sequence before Elemental lands behind him, scoring the Elemental Suplex inside a minute to get the pin on a shocked Priest.

Nathan Priest is eliminated

Art Reed pounces on Frankie Perez, who spends a few moments with him before Davis Wayne Newton cuts Reed off for a bodyslam; meanwhile, Elemental and Monkey go into a one-upsmanship sequence of crazier and crazier moves. Hard to say who wins; Monkey is absolutely able to go with him, and it ends when Perez, sensing an opportunity, hook kicks Elemental.

Monkey tries to take the champion out with a Hell Fire Kick, but Perez avoids it. Newton promptly snatches Monkey's leg as he lands, going for an STF though Hell Monkey escapes, jumping onto the second rope and backflipping into... something; Perez and Newton catch him in the air and spike him to the mat with a double-team piledriver. Newton covers for the pin; Monkey looks frustrated, but he's gone.

Hell Monkey is eliminated

Art Reed promptly snags Newton as he rises and the pair go into a very, very slick chain sequence while Perez and the Elemental stare down. Phil Vibert hops up onto the apron, catching Elemental's attention, and Perez snags the All-Action belt from where Vibert left it elsewhere in the ring.

He tosses the belt onto Reed's shoulder from behind as Newton works an armbar on him; a hook kick into the belt, as has become more and more common, sinks Reed to the mat. Newton covers again, and again picks up a significant elimination.

Art Reed is eliminated

That leaves Perez, Newton, and Canadian Elemental. Even as Reed's being pinned, Elemental counters a back suplex attempt with a headscissors that sends Perez out of the ring; as Newton charges, Elemental meets him for a backdrop that sends him outside. Climbing the top turnbuckle, he wipes both of them out in a diving suicide cross body before rolling Perez back into the ring.

Perez punches him in the gut, doubling him over, and collects the belt, going for his belt kick, but Elemental ducks under it, straightening up to jack Perez' head back with a right jab, spin him around, and go for the Elemental Suplex.

He's actually got Perez in the air as Davis comes into shot, taking his leg out from under him with a scything kick. Frankie busts out his rarely-seen Arabian moonsault, but Elemental rises into it, catching him to dump him with the Elemental Suplex. Newton gets in his face and the two square off; as Perez recovers, Viber hops up onto the apron to get Eugene Williams' attention.

Immediately, and with scary synchronization, Davis and Frankie punch the Elemental in the groin. They look at each other, and Newton holds up three fingers; Perez nods, and Davis scores his third elimination of the match, though as Azaria notes, all three have involved Frankie Perez.

“Yeah,” Midden says heavily. “Something worries me about that.”

Canadian Elemental is eliminated

Newton stands up, looking at Perez, then simply nods and lies on his back. Perez covers nonchalantly to pick up the final pinfall, and Phil Vibert shakes hands with the Triple Threat.

Jack Bruce vs. Troy Tornado

Bruce and Tornado have a match that wasn't exactly what anyone expected; Bruce essentially plays a bigger-man role, working to the SWF influences he has and manhandling Troy. That ties in, after a while, to the mounting finisher attempts; Tornado kicks off with Gumble's Savate Kick, but Bruce rolls out of the ring.

When he returns, he retaliates with the Power Chord beloved of Ronnie V. Pain, which only gets two. He tries for Billy Jack Shearer's Rhythm & Bruise, but Tornado twists clear, snapping his throat across the top rope with a kamikaze Gunslinger's Revenge, but as Troy lands outside the ring he's unable to capitalise – and looks to have suffered a bad landing.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/RandallHopkirk.jpg

Randall Hopkirk arrives at ringside, standing Bruce off before he can capitalise, and rolling the injured Tornado back into the ring.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/SammyBach_alt1.jpg

Even hurt, Troy battles back, managing to counter the Randallism into one of his own, but he can't capitalise, and as Ray Johnson checks on Bruce, Sammy Bach hits his coast-to-coast springboard bulldog, rolling out of the ring and bailing immediately afterward with Hopkirk in pursuit. Bruce recovers enough to hit the New York Minute and get the win.

Sammy Bach © vs. Eddie Peak

These two have already worked well together on a number of occasions, and this was never going to be an exception. Peak and Bach are highly complementary opposites, they work hard here to keep the audience interested, and Bach busts out some surprising stuff.

The Bloody-Handed God just has the power here, and over time, it begins to tell. Bach is busted open – though he gets his own back with a high knee on the outside that sandwiches Peak's head against the ring post – and Eddie has an easier time from that point.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/JackBruce_alt8.jpg

Until Jack Bruce appears at ringside, that is; Peak hesitates, just for a second, and Sammy dropkicks him in the nuts. It's enough to slow him, and Sammy improvises a Bach on Your Back variant to put more stress in that area, forcing the grudging submission.

Chris Rockwell vs. Remo Richardson w/ Phil Vibert

Simply brutal. Remo always fights like that, and Rockwell, when he really loses it, is capable of going with him.

The problem is that he's not capable of going with him in any kind of disciplined way, but Remo? The supreme specimen lives for this kind of fight. He weathers the storm, handles Rockwell, and waits for him to make a slip.

When he does, Remo capitalises with a precision and deliberation that's almost sick to watch, topping it off with three consecutive Destroyers.

Vibert passes his client a microphone after the match. Remo stands over the broken Rockwell and starts by looking down at him. “You shouldn't have gotten in my way,” he says.

“People have been doing that since I showed up. I come here, I beat nine other guys, I get a title shot. So far so good. RDJ gets in my face?” A shrug. “He got in my way. But I was happy with that. He was my first priority after I got the belt.

“Well, Phil's buddy has a title shot tonight. Plans change. All it means is I do a couple steps of the plan out of order.”

He walks forward, glaring at the hard camera. “Chris Rockwell was an idiot who got in my way. But RDJ?” He beams. “RDJ is one of TCW's two icons. And I beat him.

“So now it's time to go after the other icon. Tommy Cornell had best count his days.”

Team Keith

w/ Blonde Bombshell & Laura Huggins

vs.

The Syndicate

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/ShooterSeanDeeley.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/JungleJack_FIN4.jpg

Sean Deeley is the opening choice of Team Keith, and Jack Marlowe is set to face him. Given their recent track records, it's surprisingly even, with Marlowe too cagey to allow himself to enter a grappling contest and peppering Deeley with nasty-looking punches.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/AaronAndrews-1.jpghttp://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/EddStone_alt13.jpg

That takes us through to the end of the first interval. The captains gather for the coin toss... Team Keith celebrate! Aaron Andrews scrambles up the steps and into the ring, heading for the brawl – but Edd Stone slithers up into view from between the dual rings, in the way, and drops Andrews with a dropkick.

Aaron is right back up, and the match turns into two odd brawls, before the Syndicate are driven back to back, the ropes between them – and promptly trade partners, Edd backflipping from a standing start over the ropes to take Deeley down with a backflip inverted DDT.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/JeremyStone_alt1.jpg

Moments after that, the buzzer sounds again, and the Stone Brothers unite as Jeremy piles into the ring to give the Syndicate the numerical advantage for the first time in the match. Between them, the Stone Brothers batter Andrews down, then turn to Deeley. With the three of them, they force him to the ground and Jeremy applies the Stone Hold. Azaria notes that it can't force a submission yet, with Midden retorting that if it can't be broken it can sure as hell take Deeley out of the match entirely.

Laura Huggins watches from outside the ring, genuine terror in her eyes; in the other ring, Marlowe beats on Andrews while Edd double-jumps up the ropes and leaps up to grab the roof of the cage with both hands.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/SamKeith.jpg

He swings his way over to hang directly above a downed Andrews, and as Marlowe keeps Andrews prone with a figure-four, Edd launches himself, hitting a shooting star on the way to the mat. Moments later, the interval sounds again and in comes Sam Keith himself, the team captain.

Edd goes up against Sam as Aaron battles back against Marlowe. By the time Aaron turns the tide with a spinebuster, the camera rejoins the other ring to show that – after almost two full minutes trapped inside – Sean Deeley's found a way to broke the Stone Hold! He promptly scrambles away as Aaron Andrews moves to intercept Jeremey, and spends a while in the corner massaging activity back into his limbs.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/MaratKhoklov.jpg

He gets up just in time for the next interval to sound, and just in time to be Marat Khoklov's first target after he enters the cage, downed again by a huge Russian Lariat. Another drops Andrews, and Sam Keith is lined up as a target, but ducks – and Jeremy eats it instead.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/TysonBaine.jpg

Meanwhile, on the outside, Tyson Baine sprints down to where everyone's waiting, grabs Tommy, and hurls him into the side of the cage.

Wolf Hawkins turns to look at him and Baine glares, daring him to do something; Hawkins just smirks and shrugs, and Baine bails.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/JoeyMinnesota_alt.jpg

In comes Minnesota! The Rising Stars reunite and attempt to stand off Khoklov together, having a little success, but not as much as they'd hoped for. Edd, meanwhile, runs along the ropes in the center before leaping off to deliver a huracanrana to Deeley.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/WolfHawkins_alt3.jpg

The interval comes around, and Tommy Cornell orders Wolf in. Azaria comments on how much more dutiful Wolf is acting when Tommy's not curled up after a nasty shot.

The holder of the Ticket To the Top goes for Minnesota first, spearing him to the mat, then orients himself and leapfrogs an Andrews charge to get a flying Full Moon Rising on Sam Keith. Meanwhile, Marlowe clotheslines Andrews off his charge behind.

Deeley has Edd Stone in an armbar; Edd promptly walks up Khoklov's back to flip out and armdrag Sean across the ring. Jeremy Stone goes after him, but Minnesota cuts him off with a charge.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/RickLaw.jpg

And then Rick Law comes in. Khoklov immediately receives a Long Arm of the Law, which doesn't do anything but get his attention; Law promptly hits the ropes again for another, this time driving Khoklov back a step.

Minnesota shoves Marlowe away from him and scoops Law onto his shoulders. A variant on the Empire Spiral sends Law flying toward Khoklov as if rocket-launchered. This Long Arm of the Law cracks the Russian on the jaw and staggers him, as Andrews and Sean Deeley simultaneously chop block him. The combination brings him off his feet, which sends the crowd utterly wild.

http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm75/trenchcoatbrigand/TCW/TommyCornell_alt5.jpg

And then it's time for Tommy Cornell to arrive. The cage is locked and pinfalls and submissions become legal.

TCW's owner's first act is to clean some serious house, dealing damage to everyone on Team Keith before facing down with Andrews. After a few punches, he goes for the Rough Ride -

FULL MOON RISING TO TOMMY CORNELL!

Keith stares. Law stares. Minnesota stares. Deeley stares.

Hawkins leans back against a turnbuckle, spreading his arms and raising both hands in mute amusement. Khoklov attempts to get back up; Andrews cuts him off with a DDT while Khoklov is only up to one knee.

Cornell starts to rise and Team Keith spring back to life. Deeley locks Jeremy Stone into the Front Choke Lock. Minnesota nails Jack Marlowe. Law catches a springboard attempt from Edd Stone and gets the Squad Car Slam, then they wheel and focus on the injured Cornell.

Minnesota Salute. Long Arm of the Law. Neutron Plex. Game Breaker.

It's clinical, brutal, and effective. Aaron Andrews hooks the leg for the three count.

As the cage is raised, Team Keith go into the crowd to celebrate, leaving Hawkins and Tommy alone in the ring. Hawkins stares down at his mentor, then hits him with the Full Moon Rising again to hammer it home as he rises.

Phil Vibert is suddenly at ringside, and with the Ticket to the Top briefcase which he hands over to Wolf, who shakes his hand with a smirk.

“That's two more,” Midden growls. “Remo. Perez. Our mystery main event. Now Newton – and God help us, now Wolf Hawkins.”

Johnny Bloodstone w/ Blonde Bombshell vs. Marc DuBois w/ Phil Vibert

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Bigpapa42_2006/Wrestling/Main/Other/Playegg_28207.jpg

“Hah!” Azaria says, as Perfection or Vanity plays and Marc DuBois makes his way to the ring. “A can't-miss prospect indeed... This is going to be interesting.”

DuBois and Vibert have a clear game plan that starts from the second after the bell rings with a massive, paintbrushing slap. Johnny Bloodstone came to TCW in April 2008; now, ten months later, a number of little things have been noticed as things that have threatened to spark his famous, match-losing temper.

Vibert and DuBois show the importance of scouting here as, over the course of half an hour and interspersed with some excellent wrestling, they punch every single berserk button – and Azaria shines here, able to identify every single one and often mention the match we first saw it in.

Bloodstone's never quite lost it since the Blonde Bombshell came to his side, but there's a three-or-four-minute streak toward the end where he comes utterly unglued, and at one point the Bombshell herself actually has to get Sam Sparrow distracted to prevent DuBois from winning with his foot-on-the-ropes special, the Dubious DuBois Pin.

The contender's fatal mistake turns out to be tossing the champion to ringside, where a kiss from the Bombshell seems to snap Bloodstone out of it. Even with his drive and skill reasserted, however, he has to resort to a roll-up counter to the Model Solution to get the win.
