HILITE Fighting - Putting Arizona back on the map

Recommended Posts

Up until January 2000 I was happy with my work. I was the head match-maker for Alpha-1, the biggest and best promotion in the world. At the Alpha-1: Best of 99 event at the end of December, I put on the best fights that everyone wanted to see. Chuck Dooley knocking the over-confident Carter Potter's head off of his shoulders, Atep of Indonesia finally beating Luis Basora and Diego Arteta getting his 7th consecutive win and staying undefeated with a TKO victory over top welterweight Carlos da Guia. To top it all off I gave the fans a treat by letting them watch Hassan Fezzik destroy Palmer Lette. Fezzik got Fighter of the year, Arteta got Rookie of the year, and we got promotion of the year.

It was all too easy.

As the new millenium dawned two new companies opened their doors, Tapout Promotions, and HILITE Fighting. Blurcat.com speculated that I could be moving to Russia very soon, but I shocked the world when I decided to go home to the USA. Tuscan, Arizona was my destination, world domination was my goal.

As soon as I arrived I had the tricky task of putting together an A-Grade roster. I had three divisions to work with, HW LHW and MW. I was planning on opening a WW division in a years time and a LW division a year after that. The owners of the company were millionaires from around the country. I was given a million dollars to get the ball rolling and I got it rolling fast. At the moment we were only a Low Level Regional company but that would change before too long

Roster as of January Week 3 2000:

HW:

Duke Aiona

Eien Kawano

Kenneth Scott (awesome regen of Norbert Vinkus)

Randall Donelly Wilson Franklin

LHW:

Eric Dartmouth

Jon Silvers

Joshua Hope

MW:

Bill Brown

Billy Russell

I was then informed I had a show scheduled for Sunday Week 1, Febuary. No pressure then :o.

HILITE 1: The Beggining

Location: Arizona

Attendance: 172 for a gae of $2,580

MW - Billy Russell beat Drew Jenks by Submission in 4:43 of Round 2 (Good)

Jenks had no problem taking Russell to the ground, but once they were there 'The Tap Out Artist' took control.

LHW - Pete Shilton beat Darrell Alvarez (regen) by Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of Round 3 (Decent)

I don't expect much from either of them.

HW - Theobold Mahrer (regen) beat Frank Analysis by Submisison in 4:29 of Round 1 (Good)

Mahrer is very average and Analysis is just a can I lined up for Theobold to knock down and get some momentum

Tora Mizwar beat Jermaine McKenzie by UD in 5:00 of Round 3 (Poor)

Meh

Eien Kawano drew with Juozas Skerla due to Unanimous Draw in 5:00 of Round 3 (Average)

Both stay undefeated and become more popular so its win-win.

Jon Silvers beat Justin Brannagh by UD in 5:00 of round 5 to become the first HILITE Light Heavyweight Champion (Decent)

We are a small company and have only just started, but in the future this title and all the others will go around the waists of gods!

Nick Detroit beat Woody Fierstein by UD in 5:00 of Round 5 to become the first HILITE Middleweight Champion (Decent)

Both are OK but in the future will become nothing

Show Rating: Fantastic ()

Star man Kenneth Scott isn't able to fight until the end of May :( but everything turns out brilliantly. In game I have played up until May 2001 so in my next post I'll probably just recap that whole time because I can't remember records and such from this time.

Sunday of Week 3, May 2001

Lots of things happened to the company in 15 months. For starters we were now the number 4 promotion in the world. Before too long we would be at the top, no doubt about it.

Our main signing of the past year was Neil Napier. He had 3 matches in our promotion, winning all 3 and holding the MW Title. Unfortunately we couldn't keep hold of him and he went to BCF last month. We were now Low Level National, had a TV Show and a PPV Agreement. As planned, I opened a Welterweight Division earlier in the year which has turned out a success. We scooped the prestigious Blurcat.com promotion of the year last year, and now it was time to step it up.
