benjacko
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/bj_stfc/ROF.jpg Saturday, Week 4, August 2018 10 years and 7 months... 272 shows... Samurai looked at me with a surprised look on his face before saying “You realise you've been with ROF now for nearing on 11 years?” “That long? I was sure I'd be out of the door within the year when I first took on the head booker job here...” I jokingly replied. “Me too TAKA, me too!” Samurai quickly responded before letting out a huge belly laugh. We were sat in his office going over how Hot As Hell will play out and the order of the matches. The line-up for the show tomorrow night was looking good with all the titles up for grabs in triple threat matches which was my idea as I'd introduced gimmicks for our four main end of month shows. Blaze Of Glory (February) - The Bushido Invitational, a eight man tournament named after the seven virtues of the Samurai which is called the Bushido. Fire Within (May) - The Roulette Of Fire is a match where two wrestlers start off in the ring. Four more wrestlers enter at two minute intervals and the match continues till there is one wrestler left standing. Eliminations are by pinfall or submission. The ROF Heavyweight title is on the line and the last man standing is the champion. Hot As Hell (August) - Triple Threat Title Matches Dying Embers (November) - 10 Man Battle Royal with the winner receiving a ROF Heavyweight Championship match in the main event later that night. Samurai said he still had his reservations about leaning towards a equally based performance and popularity product but I pointed out that to really progress and to allow the addition of storylines, it had to happen. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/bj_stfc/ROF_Product.jpg I also picked up a copy of our finances and passed it to him which showed us with nearly £1m in the bank, making regular profits and how we'd be able to weather the storm if it didn't go well. Samurai said that he'd had a call from Euro Your Demand to tell us how happy they'd been with the 0.50 buyrate last month and to heap praise on the strides we continue to make. We also finally secured the working agreement with 5SSW that I'd been looking to do for a while now. It makes sense with both promotions using some of the same workers and also means we can bring in their main stars to help give prestige to our Women's Division. Now we just needed to find that one big show to take us to our goal of National or will the new direction see us sink faster than a thing that sinks really fast? benjacko
ROF Hot As Hell Sunday, Week 4, August 2018 Euston Road (South) ROF Women's Thea Davis © vs. Alicia Strong vs. Lauren Easter Thea Davis has been an extremely impressive ROF Women's champion so far but this looks to be her toughest challenge yet coming up against arguably the best female wrestler today in Alicia Strong and also taking on the ego that is Lauren Easter. Team Elimination vs. The Red Devils This match gives both teams the opportunity to stake their claim for a shot at the ROF Tag Team titles as the face painted warriors in Team Elimination take on the Russian might of the Red Devils. ROF Tag Team Martial Law © vs. The Biker's Chain Gang vs. Athletic Inc. Having ended the long reign of The Biker's Chain Gang, Martial Law have been continuing to impress with the skills of Gavin Owen combining superbly with the veteran wiles of Razor Valentine. Grease Hogg and Lead Belly will be out to take back the ROF Tag Team titles and the other team in the match, Ricky Storm and Sifu could spring a surprise and walk out champions. ROF Velocity Adam Matravers vs. Beau Boulder vs. Kalu Owusu With the ROF Velocity being vacated by Leigh Burton after he won the ROF Heavyweight title, Nemesis has decided this match will crown a new Velocity champion. Barry Griffin vs. Wade Orson In a match that's difficult to pick a winner, the mat technician Barry Griffin faces off against fan favourite Wade Orson in what is sure to be one of the matches of the night. ROF Heavyweight Leigh Burton © vs. Insane Machine vs. Merle O'Curle Leigh Burton faces a stern test in his first title defence since defeating the departed Steven Parker for the ROF Heavyweight title earlier this month at ROF Wrestlepalooza 149. Insane Machine personifies his name with a reputation for systematically taking his opponents apart and Merle O'Curle is the only four time ROF Heavyweight champion and is sure to want to put Burton in his place by beating him before his reign as champion has even begun. ---------- ROF Hot As Hell ROF Women's Thea Davis © vs. Alicia Strong vs. Lauren Easter Team Elimination vs. The Red Devils ROF Tag Team Martial Law © vs. The Biker's Chain Gang vs. Athletic Inc. I love the "in the future" type diaries and will be keeping an eye on your efforts here. Concerning my picks, I figured titles usually wouldn't be changing hands on the first show, but also thought that the women's title had the potential to be moved without it being a major thing as the diary's story is concerned. benjacko
ROF Hot As Hell 9 Sunday, Week 4, August 2018 Euston Road (South) Attendance: 6,139 ROF Women's Thea Davis © def. Alicia Strong and Lauren Easter in 12:14 when Thea Davis defeated Lauren Easter by pinfall with a Flying Elbow Drop. Match Rating: C+ Showing why the ROF Women's division has been earning such plaudits and praise, the match went at a break neck pace with several big moves being hit. Alicia Strong looked like winning when she hit Thea Davis with the Angel Driver, only for Lauren Easter to interrupt the cover and throw Alicia out of the ring. Lauren picked up Thea, only to be met by a sudden kick to the head and Thea followed it up with the Flying Elbow Drop to retain her title. Lauren Easter doesn't look happy after the match as she jumps Thea Davis. Lauren unloads with kicks and punches until Alicia Strong intervenes and drags her off Thea. Alicia and Thea join forces to send Lauren flying out of the ring. Thea shakes hands with Alicia and thanks her for the help. Rating: D+ Alicia Strong and Thea Davis show their respect for each other. Team Elimination def. The Red Devils in 8:24 when Genocide Agent defeated Yuri Iliakov by pinfall with an Eliminator. Match Rating: D Team Elimination move up the tag team ranks with a decent match and victory over the Russians. Nemesis opens the door to his office backstage, only to see a familiar face sitting in his chair with his feet up on the desk. “Who said you could come in? Last time I checked, failed owner of a wrestling promotion doesn't qualify you to sit in that chair!” The familiar face breaks out in a broad smile as he replies “Ouch!, that's not the way to speak to your old pal Phil Vibert. I just thought that out of a sense of nostalgia that i'd personally warn you of my plans...” Nemesis looks puzzled at what Phil Vibert said “What plans?” Vibert stands up and walks over to Nemesis before saying “Let's just say that I guarantee to make an impact here in ROF!” Vibert slaps Nemesis hard on the back before walking out of the office. Rating: D+ Phil Vibert makes an ominous warning to his old pal Nemesis. ROF Tag Team Martial Law © def. Athletic Inc. and The Biker's Chain Gang in 11:34 when Gavin Owen defeated Ricky Storm by submission with a Judo Arm Lock. Match Rating: C- A good match that swung back and forth throughout until Gavin Owen took advantage of Razor Valentine hitting the Avalanche Kick on Ricky Storm as he locked on the Judo Arm Lock and Storm had to tap out before Owen snapped his arm in two. Ricky Storm dejectedly walks to the back with a angry looking Sifu. Storm finds a chair and sits down, hanging his head. “Do you know why we lost that match, Ricky? It was simply down to you!” Ricky looks up at Sifu “But...I didn't mean to...” “There's a weak link in this team and it's certainly not me” Sifu barks back at Storm before storming off. Rating: D- Sifu sows the first seeds of discontent within Athletic Incorporated. ROF Velocity Adam Matravers def. Beau Boulder and Kalu Owusu in 13:56 when Adam Matravers defeated Beau Boulder by pinfall with a Mile High Moonsault. Match Rating: C All three men were on a mission to become the new Velocity champion as they pulled out every big move in their repertoires. Eventually, Adam Matravers finally got the chance to go for and hit the Mile High Moonsault on Beau Boulder for the three count to win the title. The referee hands Adam Matravers the ROF Velocity title and Matravers climbs the second rope to celebrate winning. That is until suddenly a monster of a man jumps the barricade and attacks Matravers. The mysterious man picks up Matravers and spikes him into the mat with a vicious Fisherman's Suplex, which is quickly followed up by a diving headbutt from the top rope. Matravers is left unconcious on the canvas as the mysterious man demands a microphone. “My name is Malili Umaga and this is just a small example of the devastation and destruction that I can inflict and will continue to inflict on my way to becoming a ROF Velocity champion that will be unstoppable!” Umaga picks up the ROF Velocity title, puts it across his shoulder and walks off as the referee checks on Matravers. Rating: C- Malili Umaga (Akima Brave) makes a big mark by taking apart one of the mainstays of ROF, Adam Matravers. Barry Griffin def. Wade Orson in 17:53 by submission with a Powerbomb Deathlock. Match Rating: B- Barry Griffin looked surprised by Wade Orson giving as good as he got during the match and Orson came extremely close to pulling off the win with the Bounce Back on Griffin, who kicked out at the last possible second. Griffin proved too strong in the end though as he locked on the Powerbomb Deathlock in the middle of the ring and Orson submitted. Leigh Burton makes his way down to the ring with a broad grin across his face and with the ROF Heavyweight title around his waist. Burton shakes hands with the whole front row before getting into the ring, microphone in hand. Burton unclips the title and holds it in the air as he says “I never thought this would be possible but here I am today as the ROF Heavyweight champion!” “I know that this would never have happened if it wasn't for all the support of the fans!” Burton points to the fans in the crowd. “I promise to make you all proud by being a fighting champion who never backs down from any challenges or obstacles put in my way!” Rating: C+ Burton shows his strength on the microphone and does a great job of solidifying his spot as the main babyface in the company. ROF Heavyweight Leigh Burton © def. Insane Machine and Merle O'Curle in 22:15 when Leigh Burton defeated Insane Machine by submission with a Sleeper Hold. Match Rating: B The match of the night was packed with counters and reversals as Leigh Burton, Insane Machine and O'Curle put on a wrestling clinic. Merle O'Curle looked assured of becoming ROF Heavyweight champion when he had Insane Machine in the Celtic Wreath with Machine close to giving up. That was until Burton took advantage and put the Sleeper Hold on O'Curle who tried to make it to the ropes but it just made Burton clamp it on even harder and with no chance of the unconcious Machine breaking it up, O'Curle slapped his hand on the mat furiously to see Burton retain his title. Overall Show Rating: B- PPV Buyrate: 0.27 A good show that saw us gain in popularity but the buyrate was surprisingly low. We still made a good £140k profit on the month however and the debuts of Umaga and Vibert seemed to go down well.
