In this new column here at wrestlexperts.com, we will be talking to some of the biggest names in the business and get their views on several different topics. In this edition, Jack Savage speaks to an Independant Superstar who is now plying his craft on the grand stage of World Wrestling Entertainment, "The Straight Edge Superstar" CM Punk. Here are just some of the highlights of this exclusive interview.

Savage: CM Punk, thank you for joining us here today. Now, as we all know, you made a HUGE name for yourself on the Independent wrestling circuit, particularly Ring of Honor. How did you feel leaving that behind to pursue a career in the WWE?

Punk: It was very bitter-sweet for me. Working on the indies, especially ROH, was just so fulfilling for me. I loved Ring of Honor, I still do. And there was a very big part of me that didn't want to leave. But this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, to work for the WWE, to get the opportunity to work for Vince McMahon. It's every wrestlers dream, and this was my moment. So as upset as I was that I was leaving all of that behind, I knew I had to do it. I'd be an idiot not to. I still keep an eye on what they do over there, and I know they will do fine without me. I miss it, but I'm also loving what I'm doing now.

Savage: You spent almost a year in Ohio Valley Wrestling (WWE's Developmental League), what was it like going from ROH to OVW, and is there anybody down there that you enjoyed working with the most?

Punk: I just wanted to wrestle, so I was going to put 100% wherever I went, but it was a little different from working a place like ROH, and it did take a little getting used to, but I really did enjoy it. As for people I enjoyed working with, I have to say working with Brent Albright and Ken Doane was a real good time for me, Brent in particular. The matches me and him had were some of my favourite matches ever. We really seemed to gel really well. It's really cool to see that Ken and Brent are now on a bigger stage in ECW. I can see them going far.

Savage: Fast forward to just a few months ago, when you debuted on Smackdown. How was that for you?

Punk: That was awesome, especially since it was in Chicago. The response was amazing. I expected a few scattered applause, but the reaction I got, I couldn't ask for a better début. And working with Kid Kash in my first match was huge for me. I was always a Kash fan, so that was pretty cool. But as far as débuts go, I think that was pretty sweet.

Savage: Since your début, it seems that you have had a few run ins with Mr. Kennedy. What are your thoughts on doing a programme with him, and also how do you feel about having such a high profile feud so early in your WWE career?

Punk: Kennedy is a talented guy. The things he did in OVW were unbelievable, he just has that something special that separates him from the rest of the pack. Honestly, I'm not sure what the plans are for me and Ken, but if that's the way we're going, then I'd love to get in the ring with him. I think we could really do something special.

Savage: Now, you are a big believer in the "Straight Edge" lifestyle; No alcohol, no drugs, no promiscuous sex etc. How has that affected you in the WWE? Do the guys treat you differently? And what is the party scene like there?

Punk: I get ribbed a lot by guys. Corino was the worst when I worked the indies, he was convinced I was snorting something. But in WWE, I don't get a lot of that. People make comments, but on the whole they are pretty respectful of my beliefs. I'm happy to go out with the guys and watch them get wasted whilst I sit with a Pepsi or a still water. I still go out and enjoy myself. But they appreciate that I take my Straight Edge lifestyle pretty seriously.

Savage: Finally, where do you see CM Punk in five years time?

Punk: I'll be headlining Wrestlemania, damn it! No, I really I don't know to be honest. I hope by then I'll have earned a spot in the Main Event scene. Right now I'm just taking it one step at a time. I'm still new, I'm still slowly trying to get my name out there. I'm just gonna keep doin what I've always been doing; just keep working hard, paying my dues and hopefully get rewarded for it. I don't set long term goals really. I hope that I can be World Champion one day, but even if it doesn't happen, I can be happy in the knowledge that I worked for the biggest wrestling promotion in the world, that my hard work paid off and I was noticed by the giants of Sports Entertainment. But if I became a world champ, that would be one hell of a bonus.

With just two weeks remaining until The Great American Bash, things are certainly about to pick up. Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff has signed two "Pick Your Poison" matches to take place this week involving Triple H and Tyson Tomko, meaning that each man gets to choose the others opponent for the evening. Also scheduled to take place, Chavo Guerrero and Trish Stratus look to gain a measure of revenge after last weeks attacks when they face off with "The Idol" Aaron Stevens and his personal assistant Michelle McCool. And Shawn Michaels, who is claiming he is close to being 100% fit, looks to prove a point to his Great American Bash opponent, Carlito, when he takes on one half of the FORMER World Tag Team Champions, Lance Cade.

Also, Snuka Jr will be in competition for the first time as an official employee of Raw. Plus, both Edge AND John Cena will be attendance, and you know it will only be a matter of time before they come to blows. And Women's Champion Mickie James claims to have a surprise in store for Number One Contender Victoria. With all of this and more, be sure to tune in to Monday Night Raw on USA.

The arena soon descended into a chorus of boos as “Metalingus” by Alter Bridge hit, and out stepped the Number One Contender for the WWE Championship, “The Rated R Superstar” Edge. For once, he was without Lita, who was preparing for her contest with Victoria later in the evening. Edge didn’t seem to be in the best of spirits as he stepped through the ropes and got a microphone from ringside. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="24967" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Edge: In just two short weeks, I head to The Great American Bash as the Number One Contender to face John Cena for the WWE Championship. And in just two short weeks, I will become a TWO TIME WWE Champion. So you would think that I would be happy, that I would be counting down the days until I dethrone that poser John Cena. But the truth is I’m getting pretty sick and tired. I’m sick and tired of being overlooked in this company. You see, the spotlight of the wrestling world should be shining on ME. But on Friday Night..... on Friday Night Batista returned to the WWE. And in one brief moment, he took the spotlight from me. Well I’m afraid I’m going to have to rain on the parade, because there is only ONE MAN who will....</div></blockquote> Edge looked a little confused and VERY annoyed as he was cut off by the man now going by the name of Snuka Jr, making his first appearance since earning himself a contract last week. I feel I can take on the world. Just a few weeks ago, I stepped into that ring and I gave you the fight of your life, and I was THIS close to beating you. And now I’ve finally earned my spot on the Raw roster, I feel more confident than ever. So I talked to Eric Bischoff, and I requested a match....with you. So I hope you’re prepared Edge, because tonight, I pull off the upset of the century. In fact, let’s not waste any time. Let’s do it right now.</div></blockquote> With that, Snuka dropped the mic and sprinted to the ring. Snuka’s interruption only made it worse, and Edge completely destroyed the newcomer, finally ending the contest with a brutal Spear. Winner: Edge</div></div></blockquote> The crowd bombarded Edge with jeers, but he was oblivious as he continued to lay rights and lefts into the skull of Snuka Jr. following the bell. Edge spotted somebody in the crowd, a clearly proud Cena supporter who was wearing his merchandise with pride. Edge headed out and immediately grabbed the fan, pulling the Cena T-shirt and cap he was wearing off of him before heading back into the ring. In a disturbing moment, Edge put the shirt and cap on a lifeless Snuka and continued to beat him down, the official trying to stop the beating. Edge, clearly sending a message to his Great American Bash opponent, then lifted Snuka onto his shoulders and dropped him with the F-U. That’s when John Cena finally made an appearance, heading to the ring to make the save as the crowd came to their feet. But clearly happy with the damage caused, Edge finally left the ring as the cat calls from the crowd continued, and Cena was left to try to help the defenceless Snuka Jr. as we head to commercial. Ross: Edge may seem a little unstable, but I think he is more focused than ever on regaining the WWE Championship. Lawler: Edge is dangerous at the best of times. I think Cena is going to have to be especially prepared for Edge in two weeks. <div style="text-align:center;">*****</div> Following the commercial break, Jonathan Coachman had managed to get a word with WWE Champion John Cena regarding what just took place. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="24967" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Coachman: Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here with WWE Champion John... Cena: Don’t say another word, Coach. Because I’m getting pretty sick and tired myself, Edge. If you want to prove a point, if you have something to say to me, then maybe you should do it directly to my face. Don’t do it by man handling fans and assaulting Superstars. Honestly, I don’t know Snuka. But I know that he didn’t deserve what you did to him tonight. You want to fight, you do it with me and we’ll see just how long you last. Love me or hate me, the fact of the matter is I’ll never back down from a fight. Maybe one day you’ll grow a set and fight me man to man. Then again, maybe not.</div></blockquote> Cena then dropped the mic and stormed off, leaving Coach a little stunned at Cena’s outburst. <div style="text-align:center;">*****</div> Prior to the following match, Victoria grabbed a microphone from ringside as she made her way to the ring for her battle with Lita. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="24967" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Victoria: You know, I watched what happened last week, I saw what Mickie did, but I also heard what she said. So from one twisted bitch to another, I’m gonna tell you this only once; you don’t scare me. You don’t intimidate me. Your mind games don’t affect me, Mickie. And at The Great American Bash, I’m walking away as the next Women’s Champion. And just to prove it, Lita, I’m going to make YOU suffer.</div></blockquote> Victoria dropped the mic as former Women’s Champion Lita headed down to the ring. She actually looked reluctant to get into the ring with Victoria, and with good reason. Lita did manage to fire off a few shots on the Number One Contender, but Victoria was on top of her game and didn’t really look like faltering. Victoria finally put Lita away when she dropped her with The Widows Peak for the victory. Winner: Victoria</div></div></blockquote> The official raised the hand of Victoria as the crowd showed their appreciation. But the crowd fell silent when the lights in the arena went down and a video was played on the screen. The shot showed a small home surrounded by trees in the dead of night. The camera panned out to show Women’s Champion Mickie James standing outside the house, her title belt draped on her shoulder. The camera got a shot of Victoria’s face, and she looked in genuine shock. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="24967" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>James: Such a beautiful home. Reminds me of where I grew up when I was a little girl. But this isn’t from my childhood, is it Vicki? You know exactly where I am. This, this is the house where your parents have lived since you were 16 years old. Such a quiet little neighbourhood isn’t it? I bet they are curled up in bed, images of their little baby girl floating around in their head. They must be so proud of you, of what you have become. And I would hate to have them have to witness what I do to you at The Great American Bash. You see, you are trying to take away the one thing that I hold dear, the one thing I love more than anything else. This belt is all I have. My one true love and you are determined to take it away. You are determined to rip my heart out. So now I’m going to rip yours out. The memories your mother and father have of you should be the last memories they have of you until their dying day....their dying day.</div></blockquote> The camera panned out a little more, and Mickie’s twisted plan was soon revealed, as in her hand was a large can of gasoline. Victoria was almost in tears as she watched Mickie pour the gas onto the front door of the house. Victoria was now on her knees in tears as Mickie took out the matches she had in her pocket. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="24967" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Mickie: She loves ME, Vicki, and you will NEVER take her away from me. I could light this match and leave your parents with only fond memories of their princess. But I’m not going to. This is just a reminder to you Victoria; anytime I want, I can get inside your head. I will break you mentally before I break you physically. At The Great American Bash, the lasting memory that your parents will have of their little angel will be one of you in a pool of your own blood, strapped onto a stretcher and being loaded into an ambulance. I will take away your ability to walk, I will make you suffer for trying to steal her from me. She’s MINE, Victoria. Forever. For...Ever.</div></blockquote> The screen then faded to black as a clearly distraught Victoria continued to weep in the centre of the ring, the fans in attendance stunned into silence. Ross: That was incredibly uncomfortable viewing. Mickie James has crossed the line in a huge way. Lawler: I have to agree with you, JR. Mickie has completely flipped her lid. Wanting to protect her title is one thing, but you should never drag somebody’s family into it. That was completely uncalled for. <div style="text-align:center;">*****</div> <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="24967" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Coachman: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guests at this time, “The Idol” Aaron Stevens and Michelle McCool. And Aaron, later on tonight you and Michelle will team up to face the two individuals that you brutally attacked last week, Chavo Guerrero and Trish Stratus. What will be your strategy against two people who are clearly out for revenge? Stevens: Please Coach, you really think I need a strategy? Have you been paying attention these past couple of months? Have you seen what I have achieved in such a short amount of time? I destroyed “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair and put him out of action. I came within inches of defeating the WWE Champion John Cena. I’m a Superstar in the making. I don’t need a strategy to face a wannabe like Chavo Guerrero. All we’ve been hearing over these last few months is how Chavo Guerrero is finally going to step up and become a serious contender for the WWE Championship. Well I put an end to that little fantasy, didn’t I Coach? Guerrero is always going to be known as the guy who could never QUITE live up to the family name. All the great Guerrero’s that have come and gone in this business, and he will forever be known as the runt of the litter. Chavo Guerrero will NEVER be a World Champion. But me, I’m destined for greatness. And with this beautiful woman by my side, there is no stopping “The A-Lister”. McCool: And as for that skank Trish Stratus, her time is long gone. I’m not a diva, I’m THE diva. This is the Golden Couple of the WWE, and tonight we prove it.</div></blockquote> Ross: Well, they aren’t full of themselves at all, are they? Lawler: Well they certainly have confidence... hold on a second. Jonathan Coachman’s duties weren’t over, as the second Stevens and McCool left the scene, World Tag Team Champions JTG and Elijah Burke, The Brooklyn Soldiers, stormed the set and grabbed the microphone from Coach. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="24967" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>JTG: Striker, Haas; if you boys are lookin’ to get on our bad side, you gone done it. You wanna keep jumpin’ us, trying to prove a point? I say next week, you punks jump in that ring with the Soldiers and throw down. And if this is about the gold around our waists, then we ain’t got no problem in putting them on the line. It’s time we settle this thing now. Burke: Matthew, Charles; it’s really very simple. If it’s a title shot you wanted, all you had to do was ask. We’re fighting champions, brothers. We won’t back down. But you didn’t ask, did you boys? You decided to try to make an example out of The Soldiers. You decided to attack us when our backs were turned, when we were vulnerable. So next week, we will GLADLY put this gold on the line. But HBK fought back with venom, and after his patented Elbow Drop from the top rope, he tuned up the band before nailing Cade with Sweet Chin Music for the hard fought but convincing victory. And speaking of the champ, here he comes. Carlito was slowly making his way to the ring, steel chair in hand as he looked to destroy HBK once again, putting the advantage back in his hands. Triple H stunned many when he lifted Show up and drilled him with a Spinning Spinebuster, but he could only manage a two count from the official. Hunter tried to follow up with a Pedigree, but Big Show swatted him away quickly, before grabbing him around the throat and almost putting him through the mat with a Chokeslam. Show made a big mistake in not going straight for the cover, looking down at The Game, contemplating whether or not to inflict more damage. But he was stunned once again when the flames rose from the ring posts, and Show looked up the ramp, waiting for the eerie video that had been playing over the past several months. But it never came, and instead he was spun around, kicked in the gut and dropped with a Pedigree. Triple H then made the cover and gained the victory, thanks in no small part to the distraction that was clearly given by The Big Red Monster, Kane. Winner: Triple H</div></div></blockquote> Ross: Tomko’s plan has completely backfired on him, and The Game has walked away with the victory here tonight. Lawler: I have to question Tomko’s choice of opponent really considering what has been happening with The Big Show these past couple of months. This meant the match consisted mostly of Trish and Michelle. Trish showed her experience throughout, but McCool wasn’t a push over as she gave as much as she got. Trish eventually got the tag to Chavo, meaning Stevens had to get in the ring. He waited for McCool to get onto the apron before he stepped through the ropes...and then tagged McCool in the second he was inside the ropes. The fans were livid, as was Guerrero. The Golden Couple then put their plan into action, as McCool put a beating on Stratus, the fans surprised at the mean streak McCool possessed. After beating her down, McCool tagged in Stevens, meaning that Guerrero had to enter the match, and the two finally slugged it out as Trish still struggled on the canvas. McCool distracted the official as Stevens exited the ring and ran around ringside, with Chavo giving chase. But as Stevens re-entered the ring, he saw Stratus groggily get to her feet and, in a sickening moment, hit her with a brutal clothesline before making the tag to McCool. Stevens then headed straight to the back as Chavo looked on in the ring. Guerrero tried to plead with the official, but he was ordered out of the ring as McCool made the easy cover and gained the pinfall for her team. Winners: Aaron Stevens and Michelle McCool</div></div></blockquote> McCool immediately headed backstage to join her partner as Chavo checked on the condition of Trish Stratus, who was out cold after Stevens’ cowardly attack. Ross: Oh, what a man Aaron Stevens is, hitting a defenceless woman. What a sick, twisted human being. Lawler: I agree, Ross. I’ll always say that you have to do what you have to do to get to the top, but that was uncalled for. Chavo continued to check on Stratus as EMT’s rushed the ring to help out the former Women’s Champion before we head to commercial. <div style="text-align:center;">*****</div> We come back from commercial to see Officials and Road Agents surrounding both Aaron Stevens and Chavo Guerrero as they laid into each other, or more precisely, Guerrero laid waste to Stevens. Officials struggled to contain The Latino Warrior as he flew into a rage. Eventually, Stevens managed to break free and he bolted from the arena with McCool. The officials had to literally pin Guerrero down, his face red with pure, unadulterated anger at “The Idol”. <div style="text-align:center;">*****</div> The familiar music of Tyson Tomko hit, and the crowd berated him as he strolled to the ring. His face was one of annoyance after watching his plan backfire earlier in the night. Tomko stood tall in the ring as he awaited the arrival of his mystery opponent. The crowd were hushed as they waited with baited breath, eager to see who Triple H had picked as Tomko’s opponent. Suddenly, the fans erupted as a familiar “Woooooo” hit the P.A system, and out strolled “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, appearing for the first time since his brutal Street Fight with “The Idol” at Judgment Day. Tomko stood expressionless as Naitch strutted to the ring as only he can. He stepped through the ropes and dropped his robe. But he still had Tomko to compete with, and Tyson had no problems in beating on the 16 time World Champion, fists and boots flying into the skull of Flair. But The Nature Boy proved why he was The Dirtiest Player in the Game, and an eye poke to the big man took him off balance, as did the chop to the back of the knee. Flair continued to work on the legs of Tomko, wearing him down and setting him up for The Figure Four. Flair finally looked to lock the move in, but Tomko’s power was uncanny, and he used his legs to throw Flair across the ring. As Flair got to his feet, he was immediately hit with a jaw shattering Big Boot, sending him down again. Tomko was home and dry, that is until “Play The Game” by Motorhead played, and Triple H stepped out onto the stage. Tomko begged Hunter to come down and get in the ring with him, clearly looking to get him suspended. But Hunter wasn’t going to fall for it, and eventually a huge grin spread across his face. That’s when Tomko felt the arm of Flair as it landed right between the legs, knocking the wind out of him. Flair took the opportunity to roll Tyson up and grab hold of the ropes as the official made the three count, and Ric Flair picked up the win to the delight of everyone watching. Winner: Ric Flair</div></div></blockquote> Ross: Flair did it! Flair just beat Tyson Tomko. What a way to make a return. Lawler: I wouldn’t get excited just yet, Ross. Flair’s fanfare was soon silenced when Tomko attacked The Nature Boy from behind, laying the boots into him. Flair struggled to his feet, but every time he did he was sent down again by the vicious Tomko. Triple H ran towards the ring but, realising he would be suspended if he made contact with Tomko, put on the breaks and watched as Tomko dropped Flair with a Big Boot. Tyson looked into the eyes of Triple H, a wide grin now breaking out on his face as he continued to punish Flair before dropping him with ANOTHER Big Boot. Triple H was cursing himself, but he was saved when officials rushed to the ring and stopped the carnage that was taking place. Tomko finally left the ring, and got nose to nose with The Game as he left, literally laughing in his face before retreating to the back. Ross: The intensity between those two men is off the chart. What the hell can happen next between the two? BREAKING NEWS-BOOKER T RELEASED FROM WWE

World Wrestling Entertainment today issued a statement on their website that they had come to terms on the release of Booker T and his wife Sharmell. Not much is known about the release of the two, although early reports suggest that Booker was not happy about being kept off T.V for so long. The plan was to bring him back as a babyface to pick up his feud with Bobby Lashley. However, there are some that believe he was being paid way too much considering his position on the card, plus the fact that he didn't seem to be getting over with the fans the way he once did. More on this story as it develops.

In other news, Val Venis has also been released from his contract after over 8 years of service. However unlike Booker T, it is said that Venis parted with the company on good terms, and ther is a strong possibility that he could be back in the future.

REIGNS RETURNS

As three people are shown the door, it seems one has returned, as Luther Reigns has signed a new contract with the WWE. It is thought that Reigns will be bought straight up to the main roster on his arrival, although rumour has it that he may actually be joining the ECW roster. This seems a slightly strange choice, and what his role there will be is uncertain, but we will be sure to keep our eyes on this story.

It's funny; I never cared about Luther Reigns in real life. But just seeing what Wildfire did with him in his NWA diary has me curious to see how you'll use him.

Honestly, I was never a HUGE fan of his. I want to try to build the company in my own image, but I also want to keep some semblance of reality, and the reality is Vince likes his guys big. I wouldn't expect much from him to begin with (I don't think ANYONE could push him as convincingly as Wildfire did) but I do have some ideas that could potentially be pretty interesting.

I didn't really want to get rid of him, but I really didn't know what to do with him. My plan was to bring him back to continue his feud with Lashley as a babyface, but once that feud ended, I didn't really have any idea what to do with him. If I can think of a way to incorporate him again then I'm sure he'll be back, but right now my mind is blank as to what to do with him.

PREVIEW

ECW returns to The Hammerstein Ballroom for another exciting edition of ECW on F/X. And in the evenings Main Event, ECW World Champion Rob Van Dam faces another tough challenge as he takes on one half of The Impact Players, Lance Storm. But after what happened at the conclusion of last weeks episode involving Van Dam and Rhino, it would shock nobody if we saw "The Man Beast" make an appearance. Also, as announced last week, the 16-Man Television Championship Tournament kicks off, and in our first two matches, Steve Corino faces off with Balls Mahoney, and Justin Credible meets Masasto Tanaka, the winners heading into the Quarter Finals.

Also, after what happened last week with Kurt Angle destroying everything in his path in an attempt to get to Raven, one of the men he attacked, Brent Albright, has been brave (or stupid) enough to challenge the Olympic Gold Medallist.
