WWE Smackdown 6/25/10

We see Ted DiBiase come out with his two hooded accomplices, introducing one as his brother Brett, who we had previously seen at Summerslam last year and then as Joe Hennig, the son of the legendry Mr. Perfect, Curt Hennig. DiBiase states that they are the Fortunate Sons and they will keep the World Heavyweight Championship around his waist, without a shadow of a doubt.

Booker T pinned Jack Swagger with the Book End in 8:55 An impressive back and forth encounter tonight on Smackdown, with Swagger beating Booker around for this match but Booker T stages a comeback and hits the Book End for the pin. Afterwards, Swagger jumps Booker and beats him down. (B+)

Batista is backstage, announcing that he’s going for the World Heavyweight Title and will take down the Fortunate Sons one by one. Batista states that he still doesn’t like the fans but he wants the title and just because the fans don’t like DiBiase, that doesn’t mean that they’ll be all buddy buddy. When asked about John Cena’s arrival on Smackdown, Batista says that Cena better steer clear of him because he got lucky at Wrestlemania but his luck will run out this time.

The Fortunate Sons defeated Cryme Tyme when Joe Hennig pinned JTG with the Perfect Plex in 7:22 Ted DiBiase joined Todd Grisham and Matt Striker on commentary, talking about how he pinned Batista’s shoulders to the mat last Sunday and Batista doesn’t deserve anything. This was a pretty impressive tag team match, with Hennig pulling out his father’s trademark, the Perfect Plex, to score the pin on JTG and the Fortunate Sons win their first outing as a tag team on Smackdown. (C+)

Mike Knox cuts a promo, talking about his destruction of the Brothers of Destruction on back to back shows.

Mike Knox pinned Unified Tag Team Champion Evan Bourne with a brain buster after interference from CM Punk and Chris Jericho in 6:22 Knox and Bourne had a big man/little man match, until the former Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho and CM Punk made themselves know. Bourne was tripped up by Jericho and that was all Knox needed to take advantage, hitting the Bicycle Kick and a vicious brain buster for the pin. (B-)

Bourne is beaten until Rey Mysterio runs out to make the save, setting up his match with Chris Jericho right now.

Chris Jericho pinned Unified Tag Team Champion Rey Mysterio with the Code Breaker in 20:22 These two men had many great matches in the past and this one was no exception to that rule. Lots of nearfalls but in the end, Jericho was a step ahead, hitting the Code Breaker for the pin, after working Mysterio’s ribs over for a good portion of the match. (B+)

Afterwards, Punk comes out, talking about how Saturday Night’s Main Event is going to be the night that Mr. McMahon is released from his agreement with Punk, even though Punk hopes that the boss had seen the light and will continue to go on the right path. It is also the night where CM Punk and Chris Jericho get the Unified Tag Team Titles back, against Rey and Bourne, as that match has been added and its Best Two Out of Three Falls so there will be no fluke finishes. There has been a grand history of Best Two Out of Three Falls Matches for the Unified Tag Team Titles on Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Christian pinned the Miz to retain the WWE Intercontinental Title with the Killswitch in 10:22 The brash and arrogant Miz seemed intent to win his first Intercontinental Title but Christian proved to have an answer to everything. The Miz went for the Skull Crushing Finale but Christian reversed into the Killswitch for the pin. (B-)

Christian calls out the World Heavyweight Champion Ted DiBiase, talking about how both men have unfinished business and DiBiase is out but the Fortunate Sons jump Christian right in the ring. Christian is beaten down to the canvas but John Morrison runs out to make the save. Morrison helps Christian fight them off until Batista casually walks out and attacks everything that moves. DiBiase bails narrowly. Batista yells that he wants the belt and DiBiase will have to face the wrath of the animal soon. Christian eats a vicious spinebuster from Batista.

WWE Monday Night RAW 6/28/10

Out comes Randy Orton from the back, who talks about his match with Rey Mysterio tonight. Orton says that Rey is one half of the Unified Tag Team Champions so that gives him the right to compete on any show that he pleases. However, Orton says he’s going to make Rey wish he did not have that right and send a message to Kofi Kingston. The only reason Orton accepted this match was as a tune up for Kofi Kingston. Rey comes out and says that Orton isn’t going to be too arrogant tonight, when Rey pins him, just like he beat Orton back at Wrestlemania 22. Orton yells that was a fluke but Rey dares Orton to prove it in the ring tonight.

R-Truth and Yoshi Tatsu defeated the Hart Dynasty when Truth pinned Kidd with the Lie Detector in 10:02 An impressive match between two top teams on RAW. The Hart Dynasty seemed to really show some double teaming moves, as this match could determine a future challenger for the Unified Tag Team Champions Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio. The Harts cut the ring off, but R-Truth ran wild and caught Kidd with the Lie Dectector for the pin. A mere four days are not enough for Truth and Tatsu, they want another Unified Tag Team Title reign. (B)

We cut backstage, where Paul Burchill is standing by, talking about how he knows he could beat Edge but the rules got in his way. Burchill says that he wants one final match with Edge, on Saturday Night’s Main Event. No Disqualification, No Countouts, No Time Limit, Anything Goes. Burchill says that he doesn’t even want the title shot that Edge has at Summerslam, rather this is a matter of respect. Burchill says that if he faces Edge, win, lose, or draw, then he’ll back off after the bell rings and until after the final bell at Summerslam for Edge’s WWE Championship Match. However, if Edge refuses his challenge, then Burchill will beat Edge so severely that while Burchill might go to prison, Edge won’t be challenging for any championship belts any time soon, not at Summerslam or ever. Burchill says that he expects Edge’s response within the week.

Beth Phoenix and Gail Kim defeated Katie Lea Burchill and Jillian when the Glamazon pins Jillian with the Glam Slam in 6:02 Maryse joins us on commentary, while the Undisputed Women’s Champion Mia Mancini looks intent. Mancini will be putting her belts on the line against Mickie James on Saturday Night’s Main Event and Maryse says that Mickie got it in her head that she could actually win. Gail Kim is double teamed for most of this match by the dastardly divas, until the hot tag is made and Beth Phoenix cleans house, before hitting the Glam Slam on Jillian for the pin. Staredown between Mancini and Phoenix with Maryse yelling that Phoenix will never be the champion again and Mancini is unstoppable. ©

Kofi Kingston pinned Zack Ryder with the Trouble in Paradise in 7:33 The Long Island Loud Mouth really took it to Kofi throughout this match but Kofi proved why he has a WWE Championship Match coming up. He knocks Ryder around and hits the Trouble in Paradise for the pin. Kofi cuts a promo, talking about how he’s going to be the WWE Champion after Saturday Night’s Main Event and the fans cheer. Kofi has come close to unseating Randy Orton previously but Orton has always saved his title by devious means and has yet to pin Kofi’s shoulders to the mat. Saturday Night’s Main Event could be Kofi Kingston’s night. (B-)

Rene Dupree cuts a promo, talking about how he is going to take the next step to becoming the United States Champion and give the American people the role model they need, unlike someone with a criminal record like MVP. Dupree says he’s going to give the US people something to aspire to be. Ezekiel Jackson stands in the background looking menacing as Jamie Noble walks out. Noble says that Dupree doesn’t deserve a United States Title shot, because of one simple reason. He’s not an American and therefore, he doesn’t count. Noble says it’s a shame that there isn’t a French Championship for Dupree to challenge for. Noble says if Dupree doesn’t like Americans, then he should do what Noble’s Daddy told him when he didn’t like something. “Git boy and don’t let the door hit you on the hind end on the way out!” Noble says that he should be the number one contender, because he beat that “Woo Woo Woo Chump” and “That Pale Irishman” and will be Dupree tonight. Noble says tonight after beating Dupree, he’ll be “eating biscuits, drinking beer, and watching NASCAR” which gets the fans cheering and Dupree saying that Noble might have been on a roll as of late, but that roll’s going to run cold. Noble says he’s your next United States Champion, the Redneck Messiah, Jamie “By Gawd” Noble!

Jamie Noble pinned Rene Dupree with a roll up in 6:33 Zeke is escorted to the back. Many overlook the submission background of Noble and Dupree pays for his underestimating of Noble, as Noble wraps Dupree up. Dupree gains the comeback but MVP comes out. MVP and Dupree have words and Noble rolls up Dupree to score the pin and leaves, fist pumping in the air, before he points to the US Title, indicating that he wants a title shot and after pinning Dupree, Noble could be in line. (C+)

Sheamus pinned Mark Henry with the Big Boot in 6:33 Sheamus proved his brutality, despite giving up over one hundred pounds to Mark Henry. A low blow set up a dastardly Big Boot from Sheamus which earned the pin. (B-)

Sheamus continues to beat on Henry after the match but out comes the Big Show. Show and Sheamus brawl around the ring, with Show going for the knockout punch but Sheamus rolls to the floor. Show invites Sheamus into the ring but Sheamus says he wants a match with the Big Show but not now, how about next week. Show accepts, promising to knock Sheamus out and the match is on.

Randy Orton pinned Rey Mysterio with the RKO in 18:44 Orton and Rey threw pretty much every move at each other, avoiding each other’s finishers. Eventually Orton avoided a springboard splash and caught Rey with the RKO, after a match that went through a commercial break. Orton rolls over, that was not easy, but he beat Rey and he goes onto defend the WWE Championship Title against Kofi Kingston on Saturday Night’s Main Event. (B+)

Hype for the best of Seven, showing Shelton Benjamin winning match one last week. Tonight, the series between Danielson and Benjamin continues, when Shelton meets Danielson in match two, where the winner faces Drew McIntyre for the ECW Championship at Summerslam.

Carlito and Vladimir Koslov defeated Justin Gabriel and Goldust when Carlito pinned Goldust with the Back Stabber in 7:33 Gabriel is the designated sacrificial lamb for this match until Goldust gets tagged in and he runs wild. He dumps Koslov but Carlito attacks him from behind and hits the Back Stabber for the pin. (C-)

The Windham Brothers defeated the Dude Busters when Bo Rotundo pinned Caylen Croft with a running bulldog in 5:55 Your usual by the numbers tag team match, with both teams attempting to get a leg up in ECW. Alex Rotundo is beaten down for most of the match, until the tag is made and Bo enters the ring, beating up both men, before hitting a huge bulldog on Croft for the pin. (D-)

A look at Kaval, training and demolishing opponents on ECW. Kaval talks about how he has own goal in mind and that’s to become ECW Champion.

Charlie Haas made Jimmy Wang Yang submit to the Haas of Pain in 6:33. Haas really took it to Yang, picking him apart throughout the match. Yang went for a springboard off of the second rope after staging a comeback but he hit his knees and Haas locked on the Haas of Pain for the submission. (C+)

Drew McIntyre cuts a promo, talking about how he was ECW Champion after less than a year and how he’s not going to lose the belt. We see some of McIntyre’s victories so far as champion on ECW.

Bryan Danielson taps out Shelton Benjamin to win match two of the best of Seven Series with the Cattle Mutilation in 10:22 Danielson and Benjamin had a technically minded match, with Danielson winning after over ten minutes of back and forth action, tying up the series 1-1. Match three week happen this week on Superstars. (B)

Congrats to BHK1978 who wins the prediction contest this month and will get a prize, that I will be PMing you about at some undetermined time in the future. Hopefully by the end of the week, but with the holiday weekend coming up, things might be a bit hectic. Likely sometime next week at the latest.

Also, I could pretty much wrap up all my storylines and be done with this dynasty at Summerslam. Not saying that I'm going to but I'm just saying that I could. It is a potential stopping point. I'll reevaluate that point as we get closer to that date. So, there's two more months to go at the very least. Still, no need to worry about that right now. I may very well decide to go to Wrestlemania 27 if I don't stop at Summerslam and that would be the definite end if that would happen. However, I'll decide that when we get closer to Summerslam.

WWE Superstars 7/1/10

Hype for tonight’s main event from ECW, featuring Bryan Danielson going one on one with Shelton Benjamin, in match three of the Best of Seven Series.

Chavo Guerrero pinned Primo with the Frog Splash in 5:55 Prim and Chavo had quite the battle tonight on Superstars, going back and forth, with Chavo using a number of shady tactics to keep Primo off balance. Primo staged a comeback but he missed a springboard cross body and it allowed Chavo to finish off with the Frog Splash. ©

Lance Cade and William Regal defeated Cryme Tyme when Lance Cade pinned Shad with a huge spinebuster after Regal delivered a chop block in 8:02 More tag team action tonight on Superstars, as Cade and Regal and Cryme Tyme do battle. JTG is caught in enemy territory for most of this match but he makes the tag to Shad. Pier six but Regal takes out Shad’s leg, allowing Cade to hit a thunderous Arn Anderson style spinebuster and pin Shad, giving Cade and Regal the win and move them up the tag team ranks on Smackdown. (C+)

Recap of the events on RAW recently, involving Rene Dupree, MVP, and Jamie Noble is shown.

MVP pinned Chris Masters with the Playmaker in 6:33 The United States Champion is action on Superstars in a non title match. Masters used his brutality to toss MVP around and went for the Masterlock but MVP had that move well scouted, before he pulled out the Playmaker for the pin. (C+)

Nine days ago on ECW, Shelton Benjamin won the first match in the Best of Seven Series to determine a number one contender for the ECW Championship at Summerslam. Then two nights ago, Danielson tied up the series, beating Shelton Benjamin. Tonight, they do battle in match three in the series.

Bryan Danielson pinned Shelton Benjamin in Match Three of the Best of Seven Series with a backslide in 13:31 Both of these men dug into their offense and gave the fans a technical masterpiece. We see the ECW Champion Drew McIntyre standing on the ramp, scouting this bout, as one of these men will be challenging him at Summerslam. Danielson managed to kick out of several important moves, before avoiding a Stinger Splash and backsliding Benjamin for the pin. (B)

WWE Smackdown 7/2/10

Hype for tonight’s Triple Threat Number One Contenders Match between John Morrison, Christian, and Batista.

Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, and The Miz defeated Matt Hardy, Booker T, and the Great Khali when Swagger pinned Booker T with the Gutwrench Power Bomb in 12:22 Khali beat down all three of his opponents at the start of this match but Hardy was trapped in the corner and beaten down right in the corner. Hot tag to Booker, who runs wild, but Ziggler hits Booker from behind, allowing Swagger to hit the Gutwrench Power Bomb for the pin as Ziggler and Miz cut off Hardy and Khali. (B-)

Mickie James cuts out, but Maryse comes out, with the Unified Women’s Champion Mia Mancini. Maryse talks about how Mickie is washed up and over the hill, taunting her, saying that her days of become WWE Women’s Champion is beyond her. Michelle McCool attacks Mickie from behind as Maryse distracts her.

Mickie James pinned Michelle McCool with the Swinging DDT in 7:22 Mickie and Michelle have a fair enough back and forth match, with Michelle choking and stomping Mickie in the corner but Mickie fights out from underneath and hits the DDT for the pin. Afterwards, Mickie and Mancini stare each other down but Maryse tells her charge to leave. Mickie James and Mia Mancini for the Undisputed Women’s Title as part of Saturday Night’s Main Event. (C-)

Mike Knox pinned Rey Mysterio with the Bicycle Kick after Punk interfered in 14:41 Knox beats Rey down for a lot of this match but Rey fought back, until Punk and Jericho came out to distract Rey, which allowed Knox to finish him off with the Bicycle Kick. Knox has defeated both of the Unified Tag Team Champions on back to back weeks. (C+)

Knox, Jericho, and Punk are beating down Rey but Evan Bourne rushes out to make the save and promptly gets beaten down. Both of the Unified Tag Team Champions are left laying, with the Unified Tag Team Titles on the line with Bourne and Mysterio defending against Punk and Jericho in a Best Two Out of Three Falls Match on Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The Fortunate Sons defeated The Masked Executioners when Joe Hennig pinned one of his opponents with the Perfect Plex in 5:22 The Masked Executioners are two skinny men in masks. DiBiase cuts a promo, talking about how he is proud of the Fortunate Sons and tonight, he’ll be watching the main event, to see who he’ll be beating in front of several hundred millions of viewers on Saturday Night’s Main Event with his World Heavyweight Title on the line. Out comes Bret Hart, who talks about how DiBiase does have his title defense but Bret Hart would like to announce that John Cena has in fact been signed to Smackdown officially! The fans give some cheers but a few boos at that one. Furthermore, John Cena will challenge whoever the champion is for the World Heavyweight Title as part of Summerslam! DiBiase looks slack jawed at this announcement.
