I echo the sentiment that Rogue One was pretty great. And I felt the CGI characters were amazing, I was absolutely stunned.

I'd perhaps go as far as to say that Rogue One was the best movie of the series - but it was not the best Star Wars movie, due to lacking some trademark Star Wars elements.

And Felicity Jones...

Guardians of The Galaxy 2 was amazing. It far exceeded my expectations. It had action, drama, comedy (a bit too much, but eh) and even emotional moments. I was well entertained right from the beginning, and I'm surprised to say that this turned out to be one of my favourite superhero movies ever made. Yes, it's simply that entertaining.

After having vowed for so long never to waste time watching the most recent Fantastic Four movie, I finally did so a few days ago...

And to my surprise, it didn't bother me as much as I had expected that they changed the skin colour of Johnny Storm for no good reason (other than to be 'hip' and 'political correct'). And the back story was actually quite interesting.

...but once the back story was over with, the movie was basically over as well. There was little time left for an awkward big (and only) battle against a completely botched and terrible Dr. Doom who had the strangest and most absurdly altered (from a comics perspective) motivations and powers. Ruined the movie for me. If you felt the last Dr. Doom did injustice to the comics version (it did), this one... wow.

But still, overall not as terrible a movie as most people say.

I have to say I did not think anyone could fill Tim Curry's...uh...clown shoes, but Bill Skarsgård did a tremendous job. He was so damn creepy as Pennywise.

Agreed.

The movie was a great watch as well as pretty high quality. I'd say equal parts quality horror and believable friendship.

I am a tad bit shocked that nobody has brought up The Last Jedi on here. I saw it opening day and I was not a fan. I would probably rank it last on the list of Star Wars movies. I think the one thing that bothered me the most was the non-Star Wars humor they tried to put in it. The whole phone call thing was just bad.

It is funny this was the first Stars Wars film I hated while I was watching it. The only other one I disliked (I did not hate it, I just disliked it.) was Phantom Menace and I actually had to think about that for a bit after watching it. I do not think there was a movie I was looking forward to see more than Phantom Menace, so I was bound to be let down.

That being I think episode one gets a bad rap as there were parts of it that I enjoyed a lot. Whereas with The Last Jedi, there was nothing I really enjoyed about the movie. To me it did not have any redeemable qualities, it was just bad.

One of my friends who always swears by Rotten Tomatoes, loved this movie and said that the fans fresh score was tainted by trolls. He then cited the fact that it was a good movie due to how high it grossed at the box office.

That does not hold water with me because it being a Star Wars movie meant it was going to draw well no matter what.

With all of this being said I will go and see the final movie in the new trilogy when it comes out because I am a sucker. I will also go see the next Indiana Jones movie whenever that comes out despite the fact that I despised the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

I mean come on, the first three Indiana Jones movies were all great. Usually there is one weak movie in a series, I am looking at you Godfather Three, but all of the Indiana Jones movies were flawless. Then that steaming pile of dog crap that was KOCS was released and oh boy did it suck.

I seen the movie around Christmas and even though I was 2 weeks behind I managed to not see any spoilers. There were some parts that I questioned (probably one of the effects of changing directors) but other than that it was great going into it blind not knowing what to expect.

Most negative reviews I see of it are pretty jarring to me because they usually come from stuff like "it was making a political statement" or "good god were they trying to check off all the boxes of diversity when they cast this thing?"

I'm curious to see what you actually didn't like about it? It couldn't be the jokes that were the deal breaker. I don't really get that argument because there has been humor in the series for years. R2 and C3PO banter....Han and Leia is mostly taking jabs at each other.

Well I guess it was not as bad as the Jar Jar Binks crap but still I felt it did not belong in a Star Wars movie.

As far as the political statement goes, I can see how some might say that but I do not really agree with it. Same thing goes with the diversity casting, I mean I thought the Rose character was crappy but I would have felt that way no matter who played the role.

I never care about the race or gender of characters unless they recast a character who has always been one race or gender (Dr. Who I am looking at you) and make that character a new race or gender.

That being said when the recast Starbuck as a woman on BSG that ended up being a great decision as Katee Sackhoff's version was far better than Dirk Benedict. However, the Master as a woman on Dr. Who was not something I agreed with but then again I was not a fan of John Simm as the Master either. To me Roger Delgado will always be the Master, but Anthony Ainley was a great replacement.

Anyway back on topic, what bothered me besides the whole prank call thing was the movie was just not very well written and there was a lot of stuff from the Force Awakens that was made null and void.

Like Rey's parents being people of no importance. Fans have been debating who her parents might be for two years and then this new movie comes along a just blows that debate off. Now I get why they did it, they are showing people that someone who came from nothing can rise to the highest peaks and that is a good message.

However, they could have just revealed that right off the bat and it would have been interesting. Instead they left it a mystery and they ended up letting the fans down.

Also, killing off Snoke was another thing that was wrong in my opinion. This built this character up as the big bad in Force Awakens only to kill him like a chump. We never found out his backstory, we never found out how he started the First Order and how it became so powerful so quickly. What they should have done was have Snoke stick around for this movie and kill him off at the start of the next movie like they did with Christopher Lee in Revenge of the Sith (I felt Revenge of the Sith was the best of the prequels by leaps and bounds, I know a lot of fans hated it.).

Captain Phasma once again had such great potential to be an awesome character only to have her maybe die. It is such a waste of a good actress and a character who has the potential to be a great secondary character.

Hate to hop on this again but the whole prank call scene made General Hux come across as a total joke. I view Hux's character as the Grand Moff Tarkin (Peter Cushing) of this new set of movies so it kind of sucks that they have turned him into a sort of ineffectual joke character.

I could have done without the whole Casino Royale storyline. I also felt that Oscar Isaac's character was really misused in this movie. I mean you have an actor of his caliber you should really give him better stuff to work with. Same goes for John Boyega as well.

Then you have Luke...this was not Luke. I am not sure who this imposter is but it was not Luke. Luke was willing to die in order to redeem his father but was willing to kill off his nephew because he sensed that Kylo was being corrupted by Snoke. He was not willing to do anything he could to stop his nephew from following in Darth Vader's footsteps.

I am sure there are other things that I forgot about but I cannot think of anything else right now.

He is running down Kylo Ren, talking about insignificant he is in comparison, and how easy he is to predict.. whilst being out-foxed by Kylo simultaneously. I tend to do that a lot when reading on the computer. I always find it odd but for some reason I can read and retain more if what written is in traditional print. However, if you take the same information and put it on the computer I have a tougher time remembering what I read. That is why I cannot read books on the computer.

Back on topic...did anyone see The Ritual? I thought it was a pretty good suspense/horror movie. I understand horror is not for everyone but if you like horror it was a pretty good movie (I would even say it was far more suspense than horror).

The Last Jedi was good. It was fresh and different and far, far better than The Force Awakens.

That said... I strongly disliked what they did with Luke. Nearly ruined the experience for me.

Black Panther can't possibly live up to the hype, but I'll go watch it. After watching the boring trailers, I was going to wait for the blu-ray release - but after the recent hype, I'll be caving. I'm a bit down on Marvel lately though, after Spider-man dissappointing me greatly after rave reviews and Thor, while certainly a good and entertaining movie, was too much slapstick for the serious subject.

Black Panther was OK. Could have done without about 15-20 minutes of the movie, but that seems to be true about almost any movie now.

These guys are not Christopher Nolan to be able to examine a character's background for 30 minutes.

I felt that The Last Jedi pushed so much out in such a short time that it was hard to get attached to any characters. I felt nothing when Rose did what she did at the end of the movie (need to avoid spoilers.) I felt that The Force Awakens was better for sure.

Haven't seen The Last Jedi yet. I did see The Force Awakens (which I really liked), and honestly Rogue One was superior to that.

Black Panther was a fine movie. Couldn't quite live up to the hype, but I was entertained. And they thankfully didn't shovel in a lot of needless and unnecesary other Marvel characters into it, like with Spider-Man Homecoming and Ant-Man. Black Panther was allowed to pretty much stand on it's own two feet, to be it's own fairly fresh movie - and it worked.

I've just recently watched Hacksaw Ridge and was definitely one of the best films I've seen in recent memory. Not really a fan of Andrew Garfield, always feels contrived and not really a believable actor. But the story (I didn't actually know it was a true story) was truly epic and definitely going to be worth another watch soon. I preferred it to Dunkirk too which I wasn't expecting.

Anyone else seen Hacksaw Ridge?
