CGC Last Man Standing

Friday, Week 3, September 2010

Victoria Royal Athletic Park (British Columbia) – 10,000

Shown Live on Pay Per View

Trent Shaffer comes down to the ring. He takes a microphone and starts talking to the crowd, before eventually getting interrupted by Jack DeColt. They have a big argument, going back and forth on the microphone, before things take a violent turn and they start brawling. A whole host of staff hit the ring to break them up, and as they are being pulled apart it is clear a match is going to take place between them.

Road Agent Notes

Trent Shaffer is starting to become a little stale in his current role. The J DeColt vs. Trent Shaffer storyline has continued with this segment. This segment lifted the crowd.

CGC Last Man Standing 2010

Canadian Golden Combat held CGC Last Man Standing 2010 last night in Victoria Royal Athletic Park, and drew 10,000 fans. The feedback has been great, it has drawn a lot of praise.

Prediction Key:

BHK1978:5 of 6 correct!

Dragonmack: 4 of 6 correct.

Emark: 3 of 6 correct. (Counting your prediction in the main event to be a draw as a loss.)

OOC: The next edition of Terry Smith sits down to talk with Chris Kaladaro will be posted sometime on Tuesday until then read up on the results and feel free to comment if you would like to do so. Congrats to BHK for winning this round getting 5 of 6 correct with the only prediction you got wrong was in the Zeus Maxmillion vs. Destiny match.

I have always been told that when booking a sports entertainment style fed, that you should always at least have a segment start the show and end the show. Otherwise if you don't then you will get the message saying that the fans weren't happy as they expected more segments as it is supposed to center around the entertainment side of wrestling.

Well I usually try to start a show with a segment. However, end-show segments always seem to hurt me. Look at the last show I did in my diary where I chose to do an end of show segment and I got an F for it. Now granted the talent I have working in my company is lightyears worse than the talent you have but still even when I play as better companies in my personal games I tend to always bomb with a closing segment.

However, like we have talked about in the past I pretty much suck at playing the game so that could be part of it as well.

closing segments can do well, especially in entertainment feds like CGC. However it does require people with very high entertainment and very high overness to pull off. Which for CGC means DeColts, Eddie Chandler, and Trent Shaffer if you built his overness up.

edit: Just looked over some of the CGC diary I did back in 2008 and I had a lot of shows close with an angle, especially on the tv shows and they usually got in the B range on grades. They also all involved the DeColts and the main eventers from the elites in face offs, attacks and brawls. So again, it can be successful, but it depends on WHO you use.

More segments actually refers to the amount of time of the show you devote to the segments. so if your match/angle ratio is 60/40 and you have an hour long show they want 36 min of match and 24 min of angles ( give or take 6 min either way as there is 10% leeway.) So you could run 2 18 min matches and 2 12 min angles in any order and it would satisfy those requirements.

or even 1 20 min angle and 2 matches. I beleive the minimum is 3 total segments on a show to avoid penalty, but that may have changed in 2010.

I liked the introduction, I feel that you are fleshing out the characters more and that is always a good thing.</p>

Chris as always its good to have you here and what can you tell us initially about the latest edition of Title Bout Wrestling?”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Chris Kaladaro:</strong> <em>“I thought that this show was quite possibly the best show we have ever had, now there are other shows that were good as well that could put that fact into dispute. However I will say that I think this past Sundays show was our best effort to date.”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Terry Smith:</strong> <em>"Interesting, do you think that there was one single factor that made this show so good or do you think it was a mixture of various things.”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Chris Kaladaro:</strong> <em>“Well the rating for the third match between Eddie Chandler and Jack DeColt definitely helped and so did the rating from the main event handicap match between Trent Shaffer, Ricky DeColt, and Alex DeColt helped out as well.”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Terry Smith:</strong> <em>“Well I would like to start with the opening segment with Trent Shaffer and Jack DeColt, how do you think that the segment went?”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Chris Kaladaro:</strong> <em>“I have to be honest I was a bit worried about how Trent Shaffer would come across on the microphone, I am never worried when he is in the ring but when he is on a microphone I don’t know how it will go each time. Jack on the other hand if you put a microphone into his hands he knows what to do with it and he does it well.”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Terry Smith:</strong> <em>“Moving onto the first match of the night between former tag team partners in Nate Johnson and Bobby Thomas. This team split up when Nate Johnson turned his back on Bobby Thomas to join Eddie Chandler in the Elite. What did you think of their match and how do you think it differed from the matches that they had in the past?”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Chris Kaladaro:</strong> <em>“I thought the match was good, was it better than any of their previous matches I don’t think so but it was what I expect from those two being in a match together.”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Terry Smith:</strong> <em>“Alright now the match that had everyone kind of confused was the match between Joey Poison and Dan DaLay for the CGC Canadian Championship. Why would Dan DaLay get a shot at a major title when he is set to leave the next day?”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Chris Kaladaro:</strong> <em>“Well I thought that since Dan did so much for this company I needed to repay him in some way and what better way than having him in a match for the CGC Canadian Championship. Now many people are probably saying why didn’t he go for the CGC World Title in his last match. Well right now with the reigns of Trent Shaffer and Joey Poison I would say that the Canadian Title is a bit more prestigious than the World Title based on the length of the reign Joey Poison has had. Is it more prestigious overall no but until Joey loses that title that belt will be looked at like it is right under the World Title and not way under the World Title as far as prestige goes.”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Terry Smith:</strong> <em>“What happened backstage after the match with Dan DaLay if I may ask?”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Chris Kaladaro:</strong> <em>“He walked back to the locker room and I was the first one to greet him shaking his hand and congratulating him on a great CGC run. After I broke the ice then everyone started thanking him for his contributions he made to the CGC product.”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Terry Smith:</strong> <em>“moving onto the next match these two next competitors were no strangers to one another as former World Champions Eddie Chandler and Jack DeColt went one on one. What did you think of this match and is this the start of another series of matches for them?”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Chris Kaladaro:</strong> <em>“I thought the match was great anytime these two step into the ring together they deliver as far as thinking that this feud will be renewed because of this match don’t get ahead of yourself. These two have already feuded in CGC and it would be too soon to even think about doing it again.”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Terry Smith:</strong> <em>“Finally in the main event Trent Shaffer found himself against all odds as he was in a two on one handicap match against Alex and Ricky DeColt. Normally the odds of two on one would be bad enough but considering that the tag team in that match was the tag team champions Trent was at more of a disadvantage than he would have been if it was against a normal two guys. However shockingly enough Trent Shaffer won the match how do you think the match went and do you think the fans were all shocked about the way it went down?”</em></p><p> </p><p> Chris Kaladaro: <em>“I thought the match was very well done, as far as the fans being shocked well yes they should be and no they shouldn’t be. Trent Shaffer is the World Champion and Ricky and Alex DeColt are the tag team champions so you had the best singles wrestler going up against the best tag team in CGC in one match. Nobody should have been shocked about who won the match regardless of who won because all three competitors are great wrestlers and assets to the company.”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Terry Smith:</strong> <em>"Finally what did you think of the attack from Jack DeColt on Trent Shaffer that ended the show?”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Chris Kaladaro:</strong> <em>“Well Jack obviously made his intentions clear when he laid down the challenge at the start of the show for the tag team match at the next pay per view. Both guys know that after that pay per view and after that tag team match that at the next pay per view they will meet each other in a one on one match. The stipulation won’t be revealed until someone wins that tag team match though because which ever team wins that individual will get to pick the stipulation for their next one on one match on pay per view. I think with the attack on Trent Shaffer Jack was just telling Trent that he better be ready to hand the belt over because in Jack’s mind he knows he can beat Trent and its just a matter of time before we find out if he can.”</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Terry Smith:</strong> <em>“Well Chris that’s all the time we have for this weeks edition of the show so until next time this has been Terry Smith saying so long and I will see you ringside at the matches.”</em></p></div></blockquote></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> OOC: Some of the matches for the next edition of Title Bout Wrestling will be posted on Thursday. Until then read up on this column and feel free to comment if you would like to do so.</p>

Canadian Golden Combat Presents Title Bout Wrestling

Saturday Week 4, September 2010

Hello ladies and gentleman Terry Smith here to talk about some of the things that you can expect to see live this Sunday night from the Abbotsford Recreation Complex as CGC presents Title Bout Wrestling.

The first match of the night will feature Eddie Chandler taking on another DeColt this time he will be taking on Ricky last week Eddie was defeated by Jack. Can he bounce back with a win this week over Ricky or will Ricky make it two straight losses for Eddie Chandler?

The second match of the night is for the CGC Canadian Championship as the current reigning and defending champion Joey Poison, take on his challenger Whippy The Clown. Will Whippy shock everyone by dethroning Joey Poison as the CGC Canadian Champion or will Joey defeat Whippy much like he has done in the past to hold onto his coveted title.

In the co-main event, Bobby Thomas takes on Jack DeColt, will the recent attitude change of Jack DeColt come into play and help him defeat Bobby Thomas or will Bobby pull out the upset win.

Finally in the main event, Nate Johnson looks to take the CGC World Heavyweight Championship away from the current champion Trent Shaffer. Will Nate succeed in doing so or will Trent make short work of Nate proving why he is the World Heavyweight Champion.

All this and so much more will be answered live this Sunday night as Canadian Golden Combat presents Title Bout Wrestling from the Abbotsford Recreation Complex in British Columbia Canada. Until then this has been Terry Smith saying so long and I will see you all at the matches.
