PRE SHOW

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Latin American Exchange IV defeated Divine Storm in 7:08 when Ultimo Guerrero defeated Quiet Storm by pinfall with a Reverse Superplex. C

Impact

Broadcast on Spike on Monday, week 1, May 2006

Impact starts in the office of the TNA Director of Authority. Facing Dusty Rhodes is Abyss. Rhodes tells Abyss he used to be one big bad ass and while he didn’t agree with everything he did and the manner he did it, there was no doubt he got it done and hurt people. Rhodes wants to see that aggression return, and tells Abyss he wants to see some aggression tonight, and if he shows it, Rhodes will reward him with a title match on Explosion. Abyss doesn’t speak, but when he shuts the door hard while leaving, the whole room shakes as if a minor earthquake had occurred. C+

USA II – Dudleys

The Dudleys reunited for the TNA Nations Cup following Brother Ray’s TNA Heavyweight Championship reign and it looked like they never missed a beat. They dominated their opponents and advanced the USA II team to the Semi Finals courtesy of an easy win in 5:35 when Brother Devon defeated Rocky Romero by pinfall with a 3D. C

Cameras go backstage where the Tag Team Champions, T N A have attacked Austin Aries. Aries isn’t moving as Albert and Test gloat over him. C

Tony Schiavone interviews The Amazing Red, but rather than allowing Red to hype about himself, Schiavone hogs the segment and hypes himself as the best mic man in the business. C

Brock Lesnar (with Eric Bischoff) v Shoichi Funaki

An awkward looking match which Lesnar manhandled Funaki. His dominance and brutality meant the match was not long, and the win duly arrived in 6:40 by pinfall with a Tornado Face Slam. C-

Following the match, Ken Shamrock strides down to the ring, a look of sheer intensity on his face. Bischoff leads Lesnar away from Shamrock. Shamrock gets on the mic and says he is pissed off with Lesnar for what he did at Lethal Lockdown, and wants revenge at Explosion in a MMA match. Lesnar looks eager and accepts, despite Bischoff’s reluctance. B-

Mick Foley is in the ring of the TNA Director of Authority. Foley tells Dusty Rhodes he wants in the Ultimate Sacrifice match and is prepared to put his career on the line to be in the match. Dusty asks Mick if he is sure, he doesn’t want Foley to be forced to retire on a low note. Foley says he is, so Rhodes puts him in the match. Foley says it is a great time to be in San Jose, California and the show goes to a commercial for sun tan lotion. B-

TNA TV TITLE

Kishi (champion) v Al Snow

A better match than the previous one, but it lacked any real excitement or pulsating action. The match was an even affair, but didn’t have that spark. Kishi managed to prevail in 9:52 by pinfall with a Rump Shaker. Kishi makes defence number 5 of his TNA TV title. C

Cameras witness another two on one attack backstage, this time it is Los Guerreros beating up on Rocky Romero, who hasn’t had a good night following his teams elimination from the TNA Nations Cup earlier in the evening. Officials and security rush in to save Romero from a serious beating. C+

Cody Rhodes is attacking Steve Corino for the second straight week, and for a second straight week, Ken Shamrock comes to the aid of his team mate from Lethal Lockdown. C

Jamie Noble (X Division Champion) & Jerry Lynn v Gregory Helms & Paul London

A quality match with some action that was hugely exciting. Lynn and especially Noble looked very good out there, but Helms and London impressed too. There was a surprise victor, with London upsetting all expectations and defeating the X Division champion in 12:37 by pinfall with a London Calling. A title shot for London coming up perhaps..? B-

Potter is in the ring, interviewing Yoshihiro Tajiri. Tajiri says he is happy with his start in TNA as he is racking up wins and wants Japan to win the TNA Nations Cup. The music of Abyss hits, Tajiri looks startled and Abyss batters Tajiri as Potter bails, finishing him off with a Black Hole Slam. C+

William Regal is backstage with Doug Williams, saying Williams is a true gentleman and the perfect tag team partner for him. They set their sights on championship gold. C

Caprice Coleman (Heavyweight Champion) & Rey Mysterio Jr v Christian Cage & John Layfield

A star studded main event and had the quality to match. Top notch wrestling throughout, a keen crowd and suspense all the way through. Coleman had Christian Cage where he wanted him in the ring, until John Layfield distracted referee Jack Doan. This in turn grabbed Coleman’s attention, who was then blind sided by a Black Hole Slam from Abyss, who emerged from under the ring apron. Abyss then threw Mysterio into the guard rail, which allowed Cage to pick up the victory in 16:31 when Christian Cage defeated Caprice Coleman by pinfall with an Unprettier. Two champions defeated in one night. B

Show rating: C+

The show can be considered a success and should increase TNA’s overall popularity.

Some of the angles did not reach the standard of the matches.

Shawn Daivari was used too much.

Attendance: 4142

Caprice Coleman & Rey Mysterio Jr v Christian Cage & John Layfield was the ninth best match in TNA history.

Oh wow. I am deeply saddened by this. What are you going to do now? This is going to be very depressing if this shuts down this BTB. I for one have been avidly following this sucker for a few months now. Who knows, maybe this brings about the TNA Beginnings III through TEW 2013? If this really is the end, I'd love for a final write-up describing all of your plans for the future.

I am very disappointed about it but I expected it. Jeff Jarrett has been very angry with me for a long time, signing AJ Styles years back put him on the darkest red for happiness as it went against an owner goal. I failed an owner goal to improve on our 5th placed ranking, we even dropped to 7th when that goal expired. Hence the firing.

But here's one I made earlier... ;)

WHAT WAS PLANNED

Brock Lesnar wins Ultimate Sacrifice, defeating John Layfield who was forced to pay the capacity (expected) 10,000 crowd $1000 each.

Lesnar would go on to defeat Caprice Coleman for the TNA Heavyweight Championship at Slammiversary IV and would be a dominant champion for some time, eventually losing to a face Eddie Guerrero.

True Gentlemen would win the TNA Tag Team Championship from T N A at June’s Explosion. They would later drop the championship to the Dudleys before winning it back in the rematch.

Jamie Noble would remain as the X Division Champion for a number of months.

$1,000,000 poorer, John Layfield would win the TV Title from Kishi following Sacrifice before losing it to ‘Wildcat’ Chris Harris in the Autumn/Fall.

The United Kingdom team of Doug Williams, William Regal and Potter would win the TNA Nations Cup, ending Mexico’s early two year dominance of the fledging competition.

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT

TNA went on a firing spree, with Jack Doan, Mike Sanders, Ultimo Guerrero, Chris Kanyon, Hernandez, John Cena, Randy Orton, Chris Divine, Quiet Storm, Shawn Daivari, Chris Hero, Nick Buck, Matt Buck, Johnny Kashmere, Joel Maximo, Roderick Strong, Evan Karagias and surprisingly Mike Tenay all being released the very next day after Potter was fired. All were on pay per view contracts so TNA were slimming down and not paying anything to do so.

Shockingly, TNA also cancelled the Sacrifice pay per view the same day as making all of the releases, despite a number of matches being eagerly anticipated and no other main pay per view was arranged for May.

Also a big shock was the appointment of Allison Danger as the new Head Booker of TNA.

Jorge Estrada was then released, which was no surprise as his contract had expired and was suffering from a major concussion and was unlikely to return for a long time.

June’s Explosion sets a new TNA buy rate record of 1.20 and attracts a 10,000 crowd as TNA’s popularity is on the increase.

TNA then cancel Slammiversary IV as it appears they are concentrating on the monthly Explosion pay per view.

Bill Goldberg won the WWE King of the Ring tournament.

28 year old Nora Greenwald was tragically killed in a road traffic accident. She had most recently been in action only the previous week when she defeated Trish Stratus on Raw as her persona Molly Holly.

That takes us into July 2006.

What's next for me...

Initially I thought about setting up my own promotion with Potter in the same save. Whilst it would have been a great continuation of the story, I want to play TEW2013 now I've left TNA.

Then I created a new continuation of the story, where Potter sets up his own company in January 2013. However, I've found that using Captain Charisma's current day mod, the game processes too slowly for my liking.

So my next move is likely to be download Genadi's 2001 mod again, and this time play as somebody other than TNA. I'll most likely start this towards the end of the week, and start the new dynasty in the 2013 forum early next week.
