As I sit in my makeshift office in the back room of the Weston Gymnasium in New Jersey, officially booking my first wrestling show, for the old school New York City Wrestling no less, I think to myself "How did this even happen?!" My story of how I got here, shortly after even wrestling my first match at 19 years old... well, it's a little out there.

My style is that of a thrillseeker, a risk taker. Recklessness is pretty much my middle name. Some say I starve attention. And I guess they're right. It's a hard road trying to live up to your successful and much beloved brother your entire life. But my style is far from anything you would usually see in a NYCW ring. Slow paced, methodical brawling is the norm in these parts. Even as a child I couldn't stand their brand of wrestling. And the general public seems to agree as NYCW owner The Stomper has never been able to grow his promotion to anything of importance. Always stuck running shows in high school gyms like the one I sit in now in front of a few hundred thousand fans at most.

That's exactly why, after watching a tape of some of my work Stomper decided to give my employers a call at Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling. He asked if he could have permission to enter negotiations with me for a position that would require me to leave the place I called home. They shockingly agreed to let him have my contact information. When they told me about it CZCW owner Cliff Anderson added "I have no idea what he wants to talk to you about or why he does, kid. I've never seen a high flier step into his ring. But I gave him your number. You should be hearing from him soon. If you decide to go, best of luck."

And Stomper called that very night. He told me how he was nearing the end of his run as a promoter and that it was plain to him that he had lost touch with what fans of the sport are looking for in a wrestling product these days. He said he needed a young talent to tell him what young fans wanted. He asked me to come to New York for a meeting to discuss what I envision to be the future of professional wrestling. He said he was looking to grow NYCW and improve the promotion's monetary value before selling the company off and stepping away from the business.

Obviously, as you can see where I sit now, that meeting went extremely well. Now I sit here with my pen in hand looking to put together cards that will get the rowdy, opinionated wrestling fans of the Tri State area on their feet as my entire locker room holds me in contempt. They hate everything I stand for and consider me completely undeserving of my position.

Now I have to earn the respect of The Stomper, the fans, and every wrestler who laces up their boots tonight. Oh yeah, not to mention I have an in-ring career of my own to worry about in the process...

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Yeah, I'm looking to turn NYCW into something more like what CZCW is, but with more entertainment aspects me thinks.
As the entire roster and I sat in the back going over the matches for the night and coming up with finishes and what not, NYCW owner The Stomper walked into the room. He knew I had been having trouble getting adjusted and the boys, especially former booker Black Hat Bailey, had not been giving me an easy time. He cleared his throat to get everyone's attention.

The Stomper: Alright boys, I'm going to make this real quick and real simple. The newest member here to the NYCW family, Jonnie Perez... he's your new boss. This wasn't his idea, and he didn't come to me asking for it. The time has come for us to go into a new direction and I decided he was the man for the job. I asked him to come here and help me get this company running in that new direction and thankfully he accepted. Listen to what he says, do what he says... and follow his lead. Jonnie's going to have the first match tonight and he's going to be displaying the kind of pace, intensity, and extremeness that I want to see out of every one of you from now on... or else. Well, that's it. Carry on. And let's put on a good show...

The Stomper walked out of the room and as the door closed, everyone's attitude towards me shifted. They started to ask what kind of product we were looking to display. I simply told them to watch as I finished taping up my wrists and prepared to walk through the curtain and open up Rush Hour 2010.

-----------------------------------

I decided to change the company's product a tad. With the likes of eye candy like Cheerleader Nicki and Fern Hathaway on the roster I decided to change T&A levels from none to low. Match ratio has been moved up from 70% to 80%. Daredevil was changed from none to low. Match intensity was raised 5% to 55 while match danger was raised 10% up to 15. This was, unfortunately, the most ole' Stomper would let me change his product. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

LIVE! From The Ministry in Queens, NY.

Attendance: 830

-----------------------------------------------

The show opens as "Slither" by Velvet Revolver hits the sound system and the newest member of the NYCW roster, Jonnie Perez, walks out onto the entrance ramp. A few fans in attendance know who he is through following CZCW and immediately begin to boo. The traditional wrestling crowd obviously does not have much respect for him or his style of wrestling.

Jonnie Perez: Thank you all for your warm welcome. Really. Thank you.... for those who aren't aware of just who I am... let me introduce myself. My name is Jonnie Perez. And I am the FUTURE of professional wrestling! For all of you fans that love living in the past and watching boring, pathetic, no talent hacks brawl around the arena for 20 minutes at a time, that may be hard to grasp. But I have it all. The looks, the charisma, the style, and the pedigree. So not only are you looking at the future of pro wrestling, you're looking at the future of NYCW! If you want an example, I'm about to show you one!

Perez drops the mic and heads down to the ring as now EVERY fan in attendance is now showing their hatred of the overly confident new NYCW star.

Dazzling Dave Diamond vs. Jonnie Perez

Jonnie Perez makes quite the statement in his debut match for the promotion as he stood toe to toe with one of the company's most promising stars in a very back and forth, exciting contest. In the end Perez was able to outwit his opponent when he grabbed a handful of Triple D's tights to get the tainted win. Perez quickly made his exit with a huge smile on his face as Triple D stood in the ring trying to explain to the ref what Perez had just done.

Roger Cage, with his valet Cheerleader Nicki, walks down to the ring for our next match where he will be facing Land Mass. The fans show their adoration for the star as he slaps the fans hands on the way down. He asks for a mic before the announcer has a chance to introduce Land Mass. Cheerleader Nicki grabs it from ringside for him and hands it to Cage. He taps it to see if it works and then speaks.

Roger Cage: This is really tough for me to say because I love each and every one of you fans so much and I've enjoyed every second I've spent here in New York and across the Tri-State area working for NYCW. But about a week ago I was contacted by Richard Eisen and the Supreme Wrestling Federation and starting tomorrow I begin my commitments on a written contract for them, which I can no longer entertain you guys, some of the best fans in this damn sport, here in NYCW. I just want to thank you for everything. For all of the support, for all of the memories... thank you. To you fans, to all the boys in the back, and to The Stomper for giving me the chance to work for his company way back. I'll miss you guys, but before I go, how's about I give you one more damn good match, huh? Unfortunately, that's gonna be a little rough considering how worthless my opponent is... but what'cha gonna do? Those are the cards, right?

The fans continue to show their love for Cage even though he's on his way out. "Thank you, Cage!" chants are going as "Would?" by Alice In Chains starts playing and Land Mass makes his way to the ring.

Cheerleader Nicki: Screw you, Roger! You know, I've been right beside you for too long now! Immediately after the bell rings a fan jumps over the guardrail wearing a pair of jeans and a black and orange leather Harley Davidson biker's jacket. Frankie Perez: Now THAT is how you make a statement! Sammy The Shark © vs. Honest Frank

Sammy The Shark proved that he is truly one to watch for the future when it comes to the Empire title scene as he went to war with Honest Frank in this one and held his own in a real back and forth struggle. The ending came when the referee was knocked unconscious by an unfortunate misguided Irish Whip from Sammy when he sent Honest Frank right into NYCW official Michael Bull. While Bull was unconscious Honest Frank brought a chair into the ring, but was never able to use it. Bull woke up just as Sammy The Shark was picking the chair up to throw it out of the ring and DQ'ed him under the belief that he had used it on Honest Frank.

These two grizzled veterans put on a perfectably acceptable performance that saw Black Hat Bailey get the pinfall to retain his title.

Steve Flash comes into the ring immediately following the match and comes toe to toe with Black Hat Bailey who is holding his NYCW Empire title. Flash points to the title and Bailey starts telling him to bring it. The two stand nose to nose yelling at each other for a good 5 minutes, almost coming to blows before The Ring Generals, Dazzling Dave Diamond and Fern Hathaway, Sammy The Shark, and NYCW owner The Stomper all come down to ringside to pull the two apart. Next month's main event is looking like one for the ages already! Who will walk out of The Ministry as the NYCW Empire Champion?!

OVERALL SHOW RATING: 37

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: Steve Flash vs. Lee Wright (46 rating)

My views: Really happy with the rating for the night aside from a dud here and there. Also pleasantly surprised with Jonnie Perez's performances all through the night. All in all a really good show that should help a bit in that close push to regional. Really the quicker we get there the better. Hoping for closer to 900 in attendance next month. ...Oh! Almost forgot... I got the "turn was a complete success!" note with Cheerleader Nicki's turn to heel. And that's always a good thing. I have big plans for her in the future.

I guess great minds think a like.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Well enough of my ramblings, just wanted to give you some props on a great first show!

Thanks for reading, BHK. And I'm glad you enjoyed it. You don't know how hard it was to keep myself from jobbing Cage to Land Mass. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

But I thought, "Hey, if I was booking this promotion in real life I'd probably want to avoid screwing this guy over in case the SWF thing doesn't work out." Plus I hate Land Mass... proof of his crappitude? A 23 match rating against Cage who is decent in ring, has great momentum, and is over. Eh... I don't think he'll be on my roster much longer.

And dude, EVERY promotion should have Welcome To The Jungle as a theme song for one of their wrestlers. Guns 'N Roses... let me rephrase that... the REAL Guns 'N Roses can't be beat. For some reason every time I see DDD's picture I think David Lee Roth so Jump was a must for him. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

But again, thanks for reading and thanks for the comments. I really appreciate it.

On a side note, I'll probably wait until tomorrow to post the card for our next show. Any one have any suggestions on a name? I'm thinking "High Risk" at the moment.

Yeah, second on Land Mass. Just make him an enforcer and use him in Menace based angles and he will get you steady D ratings till he retires. Then you can do what I did and bring in his former partner The Big Problem to destroy him and take his place as a younger, more menacing monster. :D

Nice score in getting Frankie Perez. DId he actually agree to sign or was that with you using the relationship with Jonny? Either way, he is someone you can build on if you can get him to stay around. Which will be the problem as not only NOTPBW and TCW usually grab him, but Japan comes calling all the time as well.
