Jackson to fight Evans/Bader winner; doesn't know who Jon Jones is?

<img src=http://morganzilla.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/RampageJ.jpg>

The UFC announced that current Light Heavyweight champ, Rampage Jackson, will fight the winner of the Rashad Evans-Ryan Bader fight. However, that was not their first choice.

"We wanted him to fight Jon Jones," a UFC insider told us. "Rampage looked at us for a good minute and said, 'Who?'"

Our insider told us it was just Rampage-being-Rampage, but a rep said that they were very hopeful for the Jackson-Jones fight. "We wanted it to happen, we really did...but I guess things change."

Good dynasty.

A question: How did you do the ultimate fighter? did you do an 8 man tournament between them?

regardless it was really good, TUF 12 could be really nice if your up for it.

And try to not make to many grudge fights, its not WWE after all, even tough some talk smack.

Great dynasty over all waiting for the next update.

The UFC returns to ESPN with a special Main Event!

Prelims:

Jared Hamman (10-2) [0-1] vs. Charlie Brenneman (11-1) [1-0]

Jason Norwood (9-1) [2-0] vs. Jesse Lennox (11-2) [1-1]

----------------------------

Cole Miller (18-4) [7-2] vs. Joe Stevenson (31-11) [8-5]

What's at stake: With the Lightweight Division title vacant, and the race seemingly wide open, Cole Miller is biting at the bit to get into the Top 10, and demanded that Dana give him a big fight. He gets the 10th ranked Stevenson. Can Miller show why he deserves too be in the mix?

Dan Hardy (24-7) [5-1] vs. Martin Kampmann (17-3) [8-2]

What's at stake: With Paulo Thiago reigning over the division, and seemingly GSP being next in line for the belt, the division needs a rising star. Both being 29 years old, either one of these guys can fill that void, and it starts here in this fight.

Aaron Simpson (10-1) [6-1] vs. Tomasz Drwal (18-2-1) [4-1]

What's at stake: Simpson seemed to be on the fast track to a title shot until he got obliterated by Vitor Belfort. Drwal is riding a winning streak, so something has got to give. Can Simpson get back to his winning ways?

Co Main Event:

Junior Dos Santos (10-2) [4-1] vs. Shane Carwin (11-1) [3-1]

What's at stake: Big Nog has ran over all the top contenders in the division. With wins over Lesnar, Mir, and Duffee to just name a few, the #1 contender spot is wide open. Many feel the winner of this will get one step closer to Big Nog's title.

Main Event:

Jon Jones (12-1) [6-1] vs. Lyoto Machida (17-1) [9-1]

What's at stake: The winner here should get the winner of Rampage vs. Rashad whenever that happens. Machida is coming off a victory over Vera, where as Jones is coming off of wins over Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin and his KO-of-the-year canidate win over Matt Hamill. Jones (#5 in the LHW rankings) and Machida (#3) are sure to put on an amazing show. Jones is unpredictable and exciting, and Lyoto is tactical. Expect something special.

Winner: Jason Norwood via. submission (2:24 in rd. 1) *FANTASTIC*

----------------------------

Cole Miller vs. Joe Stevenson

-Miller demanded this fight from Dana, who was watching closely. After splitting the first two rounds, Miller exploded with head kicks and vicious strikes to get the much needed win.

Winner: Cole Miller via. UD (5:00 in rd. 3) *GOOD*

Dan Hardy vs. Martin Kampmann

-Nothing special, until Kampmann got the Muay Thai clinch, and drove his knee square into Hardy's nose, KO'ing him. Ouch.

Winner: Martin Kampmann via. KO (1:24 in rd. 1) *GREAT*

Aaron Simpson vs. Tomasz Drwal

-Nothing too special, which went to a tough split decision call.

Winner: Tomasz Drwal via. split decision (5:00 in rd. 3) *DECENT*

-The fans were let down by the quality of this fight.

Winner: Shane Carwin via. UD (5:00 in rd. 3) *POOR*

Main Event:

Jon Jones vs. Lyoto Machida

-An early stoppage in round 3 caused great controversy in this. Machida landed two shots, Jones began doging the rest, but the ref stopped the fight! The fans were highly upset, the Jones corner was furious, and Dana looked shocked.

Winner: Lyoto Machida via. TKO (0:50 in rd. 3) *GOOD*

Mario Miranda: Me against the world

"Who does Silva fight next?"

"Mario Miranda."

"....who?"

That's what my friend said to me the other day. Everyone around the MMA world was shocked when Anderson Silva, the all mighty Middleweight Champ, is fighting...Mario Miranda? He may not be well known, but don't let that change your opinion.

I know what you're thinking, he must've beat a big name to get this fight, right? Well...not so much. Alan Belcher, Jorge Rivera and Dennis Hallman have been the three UFC fights for Miranda. "Don't let that fool you," Miranda told us. "I'm more than ready for Anderson."

Miranda knows he isn't the favorite, in fact, he knows people are saying he shouldn't show up. "Sports are beautiful, there's a reason we play out the match-ups and don't let them be just on paper. Announce a fight, and all of a sudden everyone is a critic and knows everything about the sport."

When we asked Mario what he plans on doing for his upcoming bout, he told us, "Just fight my fight, and lay it out on the line."

He may be greatly out matched, but don't doubt the heart of Mario Miranda.

TUF 12: Middleweights

Dana gives us an intro to this season, and the coaches. He talks about Florian leaving the UFC, thus making the Lightweight Title vacant.

"The coaches for this season originally were supposed to be Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez, but hey, sh*t happens. I settled on BJ Penn and Gray Maynard, two great fighters and two good coaches."

The fighters walk in and Dana is there. He tells them how they will have an open gym, so they go about their training.

*Commercial*

We get back, and it's time to pick teams, but Dana throws a curveball. "This season, I wanted to change things...rather than coaches picking you, you get to pick your coaches. Well, colors...once teams are split, you guys will meet your coaches."

The 16 men jump back and forth between Green and Black, until there is 8 on each side. Then out walks BJ Penn with his green shirt, and Maynard in his black shirt, all the fighters seem content with their coaches.

Team Maynard:

Alex Cook (11-8)

Kyle Bracey (6-2)

Lyle Beerbohm (15-3)

Nick Calandrino (5-2)

Sam Liera (4-2)

William Spicer (6-3)

Kyle Noke (16-7-2)

Eric Bradley (3-1)

Team Penn:

Anthony Njokuani (14-4-1)

Luke Zachrich (9-1)

Matt McGrath (8-2)

Phil Collins (7-5)

Tarec Saffiedine (11-6)

Zak Cummings (11-3)

Luis Romas (15-5)

Bobby McMaster (7-2)

Both teams seem very happy, especially Maynard who sees that his Xtreme Couture member, Eric Bradley, picked his team. Training montages show both teams getting used to everything, and both coaches seem content with the squads.

Dana picks the first fight to make it fair.

"Well, the first fight, honestly...I just bullsh*tted and picked randomly. No method to my madness in this one....Kyle Noke vs...Bobby McMaster. Good luck fellas."

Maynard looks happy with this selection.

*Commercial*

Fight Time:

Kyle Noke vs. Bobby McMaster

-Noke did a good job of controling the fight start-to-finish. He showed some good striking, and got the takedown. He didn't do much damage from the mount, but he was pleased when he locked in the rear naked choke for the win.

Winner: Kyle Noke

The episode ends with a happy Maynard with his team, and a disapointed Penn trying to rally the troops.

Advancing:

Kyle Noke (Maynard)

Eliminated:

McMaster (Penn)

Mario's world: A look into the middleweight Division

1) Mario Miranda © 10-0 [4-0]

Last fight: def. Anderson Silva via. TKO (Title fight)

Miranda shocked the MMA world when he went out and dominated Anderson Silva at UFC 125. He came out of no where, and proceeded to strike and score takedowns on The Spider. Silva had nothing left in the tank, and Miranda went on to TKO him.

2) Vitor Belfort 20-9 [9-5]

Last fight: def. Aaron Simpson via. TKO

Belfort bounced back from his title loss too Anderson Silva, only too steam roll over a surging Aaron Simpson back at UFC Fight Night: Gomi vs. Maynard. The convincing win put Belfort in line for what looked to be a re-match against Anderson Silva, but now will face Miranda sometime down the line.

3) Anderson Silva 27-6 [12-2]

Last fight: loss to Mario Miranda via. TKO (title fight)

After winning all his fights from 2006 to 2010, Silva was unstoppable. After a war of words with Rampage Jackson, Silva jumped up to the LHW Division, only to get TKO's by the champ. He went back down to Middleweight, expecting a cake walk over Mario Miranda. Didn't happen. Silva looked sluggish, gassed, and overall nothing near the Silva we knew. It's unknown if he'll straighten the ship.

4) Wanderlei Silva 33-10-1 [3-5]

Last fight: def. Murilo Rua via. TKO

After a two-year hiatus from the UFC, the Axe Murderer came back with a win over Murilo Rua, a highly touted signing for the UFC. He's yet to have a fight since, but he is looking to keep moving up the rankings, trying to take the #1 spot from Miranda.

5) Tomasz Drwal 19-2-1 [5-1]

Last fight: def. Aaron Simpson via. Split

The 29 year old has strung together a five-fight win streak, giving him good publicity in the middleweight division. A lot of people are excited too see where Drwal's career is headed, but it's safe to say that this kid has a lot of potential to take the title.

6) Ed Herman 17-8 [6-5]

Last fight: def. Kendall Grove via. submission

Short Fuse has avenged two of his losses in his last two fights by beating Alan Belcher and Kendall Grove. He trains with Team Quest, and is ready for his next fight in the UFC.

7) Hector Lombard 27-2-1 [1-0]

Last fight: def. Chael Sonnen via. TKO

In his UFC debut, Lombard handled former-contender, Chael Sonnen. Lombard, at just 29, is considered to be the future of the division, assuming nothing drastic happens in his career. Expect big things from Lombard.

8) Chael Sonnen 24-12-1 [3-5]

Last fight: Loss to Hector Lombard via. TKO

Win-less in the past two years, you could argue that Sonnen is finally fading out of the middleweight picture. A Team Quest member, the 34 year old may be at the end of his fighting career. He needs a win badly.

9) Murilo Rua 20-11-1 [1-1]

Last fight: Loss to Wanderlei Silva via. TKO

The older brother of Shogun, Murilo had a lot of hype coming into the UFC, he has yet to deliver anything special. With a win over Chris Leben in his debut, he proceeded to lose to The Axe Murderer. He has fallen short of expectations, but there's still some hope.

10) Jared Hess 12-1-1 [2-0]

Last fight: def. Tom Lawlor via. TKO

At just 28, Hess has a lot of room to grow. His fights so far in the UFC have been fan favorites, and it seems that the crowd likes him. Mix that with his fighting ability, the future is very bright for Hess.

We get a recap from the last fight from Dana.

It's time for Team Maynard to train, but he has a surprise for them.

"Guys, I was on this show before...I know how important coaching is for you guys. So, I did something for you guys, I went and got one of my teammates from my camp, so guys, I want to introduce you to your assistant coach..."

In walks Randy Couture. The black team is beyond happy, and they all greet their new assistant coach. After a quick meet-and-greet, team Maynard hits the gym hard.

In his interview, Gray said he wants the sweep, and is ready to take out the tops guys from Team Penn.

Back at the house we see the green team just sitting around. Phil Collins is sitting pool side eating ice cream, and his teammate Nik Cummings shares his disgust.

"Dude, it's *****n 9:30 in the morning..."

"So what."

"You can't be eating that sh*t dude, you're a fighter."

"Oh well."

In his interview, Zak says how he thinks Phil is just here for a vacation and some TV time, and he doesn't have what it takes to make it in MMA.

After a training session for Team Penn, it's time to pick fights. Right when Dana walks out, Matt McGrath is talking and one of Maynard's assitants asks him to shut up, and Matt takes it the wrong way. "Mind your own fuc*in business!" The coach and McGrath throw back the insults, and eventually walk towards one another when Eric Bradley tries to calm things down, when McGrath shoves him out of the way. Things calm down, but it's clear that Bradley is furious at McGrath. Gray steps up to talk.

"Alright, now that that's over with...the next fight will be Lyle Beerbohm against Luis Romas."

Dana is shocked at this fight. "I mean, this is an AWSOME fight, don't get me wrong...but for Gray to pit two of the top guys against one another THIS early? Risky. If this back fires on Gray, Team Penn could make a good run for the rest of the show."

Fight Time:

Lyle Beerbohm vs. Luis Romas

-Dana expected an even fight...wrong. It looks like Gray knew what he was doing.

Winner: Lyle Beerbohm via. TKO (4:26 in rd. 1) *GREAT*

The show ends with Penn motivating his team, saying "It's only two, guys...only two." It's clear that Penn is upset that Romas is out of the running.

Advancing:

Beerbohm (Maynard)

Noke (Maynard)

Eliminated:

McMaster (Penn)

Romas (Penn)

After a recap of the last fight, Team Penn is training. He praises Luke Zachrich and Zak Cummings as two guys he sees a lot of potential in, and could possibly win the show. He rallies the troops. During ths speech, we see Phil Collins looking less than excited.

Back at the house, spirits are high for Team Maynard. Gray and Couture show up to hang out with their fighters, and after some joking around, a few of the guys end getting tossed in the pool.

Team Penn returns and sees this, and it only makes them more angry. They feel that Team Maynard is almost coasting so far, and they still find ways too win.

We see Team Maynard talking about the fight, and Eric Bradley walks up to his coaches. Since they all train together at Xtreme Couture, they agree that Bradley is ready. Gray praises Eric and his willingness too fight.

The fight is announced: Eric Bradley vs. Matt MacGrath.
