Life Inside A Comic BookWho am I?: Part 1 of 3

http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/9695/smoothjames.jpg

I am, James Cottonfield, a young Englishman currently employed by the local Tesco, working from 9 to 5 each day.

A generic boring supermarket job, but it just exactly pays the bills.

A normal day for me starts around 8 AM when I wake up... take a shower… get dressed… then down to the supermarket, where I sit at the cash register until lunch… eat my sandwich… sit at the cash register until 5 PM… go home… repeat…

That was my daily routine, day in, day out, until one rainy day in December.

I was sitting in the backroom, eating my lunch, alone, when suddenly my cell phone rang.

James
– Yes?

Crackling Voice
– *
bzzt*
James? Is that you?

James
– Yes, this is James speaking.

Crackling Voice
– Hey James! Glad I could get to you, I really wasn’t sure when to call. You know, with the different time zones and all! What time is it back in ol’ England?

James
– Umm, it’s about twe- Excuse me! Who is this speaking?

Crackling Voice
*sounding embarrassed*
Oh, I’m very sorry. This is Steven, Steven Ambrose!

I hadn’t talked to Steven since back in the ROF days, but back then we had been inseparable. We were always the life of the party backstage, even if I didn’t actually manage him inside the ring, with him being the mysterious
UK Dragon
and all. It all ended when they got rid of all managers and focused on the in-ring product though, as I had no business wrestling inside the ring. As far as I knew, today wasn’t a Ring of Fire event, and when not working there he was with WLW in Japan, so what could be the reason for this phone call?

James
– Steven! How’re you doing?! How is stuff in the East?

Steven
– Well, calls to England are still expensive, which is why I’m going to have to make this call short.
Koki Ishibashi
, our head booker, has recently gotten another child, and has requested to step down from his position of head booker, along with working a schedule so that he can relax with his wife and child. We’re starting a new tour in just two weeks, and Koji asked if any of us was interested. I told him I might know someone, and I told him you had previously held the book back in ROF, and had done a helluva job! Hehe, you know what I mean. Either way, he agreed to it and he’ll send you the information, along with a plane ticket tomorrow.

James
– B-But… Japan? I don’t think --
*click*

He hung up on me. Apparently when calling from Japan, you can only get these 2 minute cards, and then you can’t speak any longer… I think… OR! He just knew I was going to be skeptical and spend a million years worrying, considering, weighing the possibilities of what could happen in Japan, in WLW, how hard it would be etc. etc.

OOC: This is part 1 of 3 of the backstory behind James' venture to to Japan, that I have now decided to post after working on it for a few days.

Life Inside A Comic BookWho am I?: Part 2 of 3

http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/1777/package1300x.jpg

Three days later, I received a package signed by; “Koji Kojima on behalf of WLW”. Inside was; a one-way ticket to Tohoku, Japan, a list of all wrestlers, including stables, tag teams, gimmicks, theme music, everyone’s position on the card and a list of who held the titles in the company, along with pictures of the title, and listings of how important the previous booker, Koki Ishibashi felt they were in the company, all in handwriting by Koki Ishibashi. Even though I have some Japanese skills, this would take a while to decipher. Beneath all of this paperwork was a letter, written by Koji Kojima himself:

Dear
James Cottonfield
,

You have been accepted for the position as head booker of the number one, exciting wrestling promotion in Japan, World Level Wrestling, and we congratulate you on this opportunity.

We expect you to meet us for a booking meeting in one week from today, at the following address:
(…) What followed was basically information about how I could get to the building, and where I could stay before getting my own place over there. (…)

The position of Head Booker includes the following commitments, but is not limited to:

• Hiring, firing and handling of all talent, wrestlers and backstage staff included

• Financial business, including merchandise, marketing and the legal department

• Scheduling, planning and booking of all future events

In addition, the Head Booker will be required to attend meetings with the Owner and the rest of the Booking Team, at least monthly.

Hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,

Koji Kojima

P.S. The preceding letter was written by the UK Dragon, as per request and dictation of Mr. Kojima.
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/8413/ukdragon.jpg

Okay, so it wasn’t exactly written by Mr. Kojima it seems, but at least it was supposedly his words, and his intentions. This was a partly officially looking letter, as it was clear that Steven had taken some… creative liberties when writing it. Either way, I had accepted, even though I had never actually said ‘Yes’ to anyone, but Steven must’ve implied to them that I had.

Iwate-Hanamaki Airport

http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/4797/300pxnewhanamakitermina.jpg

When I arrived at the airport, I was immediately greeted by a friendly face. Steven had come to pick me up, as he thought I could use a ride from the airport in to the city. On the way he explained me some things I had to look out for when booking, compared to the booking in ROF.

First up he explained to me, how loyalty is a big part of the Japanese’s life, and what this means to the world of wrestling is; if you start your career with a promotion, you usually stay with that promotion for the rest of your career. This shouldn’t be a problem right off the bat, as WLW currently had all the talent it needed, but if, down the line, I wanted to recruit new workers, I shouldn’t expect wrestlers from other promotions to jump ship.

Another big thing in Japan is respect. Youngsters who haven’t yet earned the respect of the roster, are expected to be booked to lose most of the time, until they have ‘paid their dues’ and are on level with the rest of the roster. In his opinion, the workers who still hadn’t paid their dues are;
Beetle Kimura
,
Nichiren Amagawa
,
Panda Mask
,
SPEED D
and
The Tic
.

Other than those two things, holding the book in a promotion like WLW was pretty much the same as I had tried once before.

Except this time it’s like
Living Inside A Comic Book
.

EDIT: Any feedback is very welcome :)

Monday, Week 1, January 2010

http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/1638/bigalarmclock.jpg

At around way too early o’clock, Monday morning, I woke up to the ringing of my hotel telephone. It was Kojima, asking me if I had time to talk. Clearly he was an early riser, as the time couldn’t be--holy crap, my alarm clock was saying 12:03, that jetlag sure had me fooled. I arranged a meeting with him, and he told me he would inform the rest of the booking team. Well, if only I knew who they were…

When I arrived at the café, the whole booking team was already present, waiting for me:

http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/7083/kojikojima.jpghttp://img535.imageshack.us/img535/4722/kokiishibashi.jpghttp://img227.imageshack.us/img227/9123/thegreathisato.jpghttp://img195.imageshack.us/img195/8413/ukdragon.jpg

Koji Kojima, the owner of the company. Koki Ishibashi, the former head booker. The Great Hisato, a great performer who’s been with WLW since it started. And to round it off, the newest member of the booking team, excluding me, Steven Ambrose, the UK Dragon. (No wonder he managed to secure me a spot as head booker in this company.)

Kojima started the meeting off, with explaining me some things he expected from me:

  • He had been keeping the company profitable so far, and he didn’t want to stop doing that.
  • Even though Mr. Ishibashi was on part-time leave, he still needed to keep his momentum going in the ring.
  • As always, he wanted to put on some good shows, so he expects all in-ring talent to know the very minimum of basics of how to work in the ring
  • He wants no performers who can't perform moves without hurting the opponent.

I was pretty sure that I could live up to all of Kojima's expectations, but that was to be seen.

My first input to the meeting was to do our first tour in a more western way. Instead of touring all around the country we would focus on one region, and hold all of our shows there. Kojima said that they had never tried this form of touring, but he was willing to give it a go, and if it didn't work out, we would revert to the old way, of touring the entire country...

As for the rest of the meeting, well...

Roster A - K

Acid

http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/8343/acid.jpg

Age:
32 years old

Nationality:
American

Push:
Midcarder

Gimmick:
Mysterious

Association:
The 505

Tag Teams:
Acid Dragon

Theme:
from 1:30.

James' Opinion:
Acid looks good in the ring, but isn’t a very good talker. He will most probably be hired by an American promotion sooner or later, as he’s more popular there than in Japan. He would be suited to go for all of the midcard titles, although his tag team with UK Dragon is one of the most experienced ones, having captured the titles once.

Americana

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6770/americanelemental.jpg

Age:
29 years old

Nationality:
American

Push:
Midcarder

Gimmick:
Clean Cut

Association:
The 505

Tag Teams:
American Machine (
)

Theme:

James' Opinion:
Another good ring worker, Americana also has good entertainment skills. He is mostly a high-flier, but has also won the Tap Out title once. His tag team with Insane Machine has been rather successful, capturing the tag titles once, and he would be most suited going for the Tag Titles, or the Showstealer title. He is currently on a touring contract, but I expect to sign him to a full PPA contract when the tour is over.

Awesome Thunder

http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/671/awesomethunder.jpg

Age:
44 years old

Nationality:
Japanese

Push:
Main Eventer

Gimmick:
Old School Face

Association:
None

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Awesome Thunder is a really amazing in-ring performer, and can carry ANYONE in the ring, although he is far past his prime. He is one of our top stars. He has decent entertainment skills, although nothing spectacular. He could be a contender for the Universal title, but I have bigger plans for him.

Beetle Kimura

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/6104/beetlekimura.jpg

Age:
24 years old

Nationality:
Japanese

Push:
Lower Midcarder

Gimmick:
Comic Book Villain -> Comic Book Hero

Association:
None

Tag Teams:
HEROES

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Protégé of The Great Hisato, he doesn’t have a lot of things going, but he can have a bright future if he improves at his craft. He and Panda Mask have a tag team that could turn into something worthwhile. Going to start my booking career by giving him time off as I think a Hero gimmick is more suited for him than a Villain gimmick.

Blood Raven

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/8388/bloodraven.jpg

Age:
28 years old

Nationality:
Mexican

Push:
Midcarder

Gimmick:
Comic Book Villain

Association:
The New Circle of Blood

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Blood Raven is a decent luchador, who also works for SOTBPW in Mexico. We will utilize his skill until he gets signed to a Written contract by them, but until then he is an alright highflier, and the leader of The New Circle of Blood.

Dark Eagle

http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/5991/darkeaglealt1.jpg

Age:
44 years old

Nationality:
Japanese

Push:
Main Eventer

Gimmick:
Mysterious

Association:
Red Guild

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Dark Eagle has amazing performance skills; he can carry most of our competitors to a good match. He doesn’t have much in the entertainment category, and his skills are definitely in the ring, with both good technical and flying skills. Unfortunately he is getting close to retirement, and it might not be long before we’re going to have to utilize him as a Road Agent rather than active competitor. He is currently part of Magnum Kobe’s heel stable, Red Guild. (He is supposedly the backbone of the good backstage environment, which just shows how he’s getting ready to become a road agent.)

Emerald Angel

http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/7621/emeraldangel.jpg

Age:
23 years old

Nationality:
Japanese

Push:
Main Eventer

Gimmick:
Man On A Mission

Association:
Def-REALM

Tag Teams:
Above & Below (
)

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Emerald Angel is the best high flyer we have, if not in the world. On top of that he can probably carry a match, and he has the looks of a real star. He’s got some good talking skills and he is a definite contender for the Universal title, and on top of that he’s got a very popular tag team with Hell Monkey, Above & Below.

(Apparently he’s quite the prima donna when not in the ring, but if he delivers in the ring, that shouldn’t be a problem.)

Hell Monkey

http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/4302/hellmonkeysschamp.jpg

Age:
31 years old

Nationality:
American

Push:
Upper Midcarder

Gimmick:
Legitimate Athlete

Association:
None

Tag Teams:
Above & Below (
)

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Hell Monkey has a good all-round game, being good in both brawling, puroresu and aerial attacks, while his technical skills certainly aren’t bad. On top of that he can carry a big fight, and he can really last long in the ring with his incredible stamina, which will hopefully give him some good matches when he defends his Showstealer title. Unfortunately he’s got pretty bad entertainment skills, so he will be showing his skills in the ring aswell.

Hypnos

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/9766/hypnosb.jpg

Age:
34 years old

Nationality:
Japanese

Push:
Lower Midcarder

Gimmick:
Comic Book Villain

Association:
The New Circle of Blood

Tag Teams:
VILLAINS

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
He’s a basic and very consistent wrestler, who actually has a lot of star quality on his hands. It’s really too bad that he is only average in most other areas, and at his age, he can become a solid midcarder, but probably never a big main eventer.

(I’ve heard rumors that he can be really annoying backstage, and if he doesn’t bring it in the ring OR backstage, we really have no room for him, but I will give him a chance.)

Insane Machine

http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/2926/insanemachinesfchamp.jpg

Age:
35 years old

Nationality:
American

Push:
Midcarder

Gimmick:
Bad Ass

Association:
The 505

Tag Teams:
American Machine (
)

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
When I look at Insane Machine, I am really wondering why they keep the Streetfighting belt around, as if he is the champion of the division, there can’t possibly be enough contenders to justify having a belt. Even without much hardcore in him to speak of, Insane Machine performs very well in a match, and can carry some of the younger boys if needed. He’s got good flying skills, and great athleticism, but along with the other 505 workers, he doesn’t have much talent on the microphone.

Kazuma Narato

http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/8507/kazumanarato.jpg

Age:
31 years old

Nationality:
Japanese

Push:
Upper Midcarder

Gimmick:
Bad Ass

Association:
Black House Nation, Mr. Miwa

Tag Teams:
Black House

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Kazuma Narato has everything going on for him, having just won the tag titles in December alongside Mokuami Maita, his momentum is as high as ever. I am not sure we should rely on him being able to carry matches but he is very consistent in what he does. On top of that he’s got great athleticism, which he shows when he flies around. He is really quite poor with a mic, and I think assigning Mr. Miwa to Black House was a pretty smart move, as being tag champs is hard if you can’t entertain the crowd.

Koji Kojima

http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/7083/kojikojima.jpg

Age:
34 years old

Nationality:
Japanese

Push:
Midcarder

Gimmick:
Avenging Angel

Association:
Def-REALM

Tag Teams:
Unity Two

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
I don’t have a lot of bad things to say about Koji Kojima, he seems like a good boss, and along with that he’s a good all-rounder in the ring, with good technical and flying skills, just like a real Junior wrestler. His reason for not pushing himself is probably because he thought he could be a good gatekeeper, which I think is just what he is right now, and will probably continue to be. He is one of our best with a microphone, I really need to remember to get him speaking, I might even start using him as an authority figure.

(For now I am looking forward to actually meeting him face to face.)

Koki Ishibashi

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/4722/kokiishibashi.jpg

Age:
40 years old

Nationality:
Japanese

Push:
Upper Midcarder

Gimmick:
Mysterious

Association:
Def-REALM

Tag Teams:
Unity Two

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Koki Ishibashi was, unlike Koji Kojima, a main eventer in WLW, before the likes of his little brother Emerald Angel and Magnum Kobe arrived. That doesn’t change that he is still a good performer, and can probably handle a match. He is another one of the few people who are good on the microphone, but on the other hand he is not a high flyer. This is something that surprises you, when you first see him, as he looks just like all the other high fliers in WLW. Instead he is a great technical wrestler and the Tap Out title was made for people like him.

(With him just having his third baby, he has asked to not be booked a lot. With a big name like him, that will be hard.)

OOC: Thanks for the tips :)

Magnum Kobe

Nationality:
Japanese

Push:
Main Eventer

Gimmick:
C0cky Youth

Association:
Red Guild

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Now here’s a star! Magnum is easily our number one star, and we really need to use that. Winning the Universal title back in October, Magnum Kobe is running wild right now, and he should be able to keep it going for quite a while, judging by his great skills on the microphone, combined with his ability to control a match, and make it exciting to watch. His only real downside, is that he is practically unable to sell an opponent’s move, probably due to the fact that he hasn’t had a real need to lose.

Mokuami Maita

Tag Teams:

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
First thing that springs to mind when I see both Mokuami, and his tag team partner is, we REALLY need to get them an eye-opening gimmick. While Kazuma just has a bland look, Mokuami could probably be turned into a star, if only supplied with the means to do it. While he probably can’t make a match all by himself, he should be able to perform some good matches if paired with competitors of his own level.

Nichiren Amagawa

Gimmick:
Arrogant Heel

Association:
The New Circle of Blood

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
I may have lied before when I said Koki was the best technical wrestler in the promotion, as this youngster has really amazed me. After watching some of his matches on JapanTube, I am amazed by his grappling skills, and on top of that he’s got the look of a star, and he is overly charismatic. He’s also got the basics of a wrestling match under control, if he can get some better understanding of the different aspects of a fight, and get better at using the microphone he is a definite star in the making. Only problem is, I’m not sure it’s a star in WLW, as he never ever goes into the air, which is a big part of what wrestlers do in WLW.

(Steven told me his character comes pretty easy to him, as he’s the biggest jerk backstage. This is something I have to watch out for, as there is no way I can get rid of him, with him being Koji’s protégé and all.)

Panda Mask (II)

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Beetle Kimura’s tag team partner, Panda Mask is roughly on the same level that Beetle is on, making them good partners. While he is still young, Panda Mask can easily turn into something big if he keeps growing, as he can already last pretty long time in the ring, and he’s very flashy, which is what the fans want to see.

Rogue Matsuo SF

Age:

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Matsuo is athletic, consistent, and can last a while in the ring. He isn’t overly good in any aspect, but on the other hand he isn’t completely bad in any wrestling aspect, but he has the charisma of a tree in a forest, really nothing special about him. He currently holds the Tap Out title, but I can easily see another much more suited champion for it.

Silver Shark

Age:
39 years old

Nationality:
American

Push:
Upper Midcarder

Gimmick:
Comic Book Villain

Association:
Red Guild

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Silver Shark is really just acting as Magnum Kobe’s lackey, and I am unsure why he is not being booked as such, but maybe it is as not to destroy Silver Shark’s career totally. Silver Shark does not need to be carried through a match, but doesn’t provide a whole lot to the table either. He is not an entertainer, but has a fairly few flashy aerial moves in his arsenal.

Tag Teams:

Theme:

James’ Opinion:
Why both his name and his tag team have to be in full caps, I do not know, but the fact of the matter is, that is all he is really good at: Drawing attention to himself. Being quite athletic, SPEED D pulls off many flashy attacks, but the problem is, he’s got no idea of how a match needs to proceed. He is a very charismatic performer, and he’s got the look of a potential star, but unless he can improve his all-round game, he’s got no chance in staying around.

The Great Hisato is a generic Junior wrestler, with a great high flying arsenal. That and his definite star quality, combined with his great athleticism, and his ability to really put a match together, really makes The Great Hisato one of our main eventers.

(Happy to hear he’s pulled his act together, as he used to have a really bad reputation in the world of wrestling.)

In addition to him being one of the smallest wrestlers I have ever seen, he has a pretty good understanding on how matches are supposed to work. Luckily for him he can also fly, and finally one of The 505 that has a little entertainment value.

(Steven tells me The Tic is one of the nicest people he’s ever met, and even if his skills aren’t that good, I should keep him around.)

Okay, so Toyokuni is our go-to Hardcore guy. With him having his focus on hardcore, he’s still not particularly good at it, which will probably slow the process a little. Not taking into account masks, he is our scariest looking wrestler.

James’ Opinion:
Steven Ambrose is the best wrestler in the world! All kidding aside, my good friend UK Dragon is actually a very good wrestler, and he masters multiple parts of it as well. UK Dragon also works for Ring of Fire in U.K., an all-technical promotion, which will probably see him improve quite a lot in the technical area. He is already a great flier and very consistent too, but it has to be said that he is not young anymore. Too many years working here in WLW, in Ring of Fire in U.K. and in the now closed UCR in Europe, has really taken its toll on Steven’s body, and he probably had his prime just about when he turned 30. Either way, he is another one from the 505 stable, who just can’t do anything with a microphone, although he has a very charismatic personality.

(Back when I worked for RoF, Steven was always the life of the party, when we were backstage, and I really hope he still has that same personality.)

James’ Opinion:
Taka Kajiwara is one of the prime Colour Commentators in the whole world, so we’re really lucky to have him here with us. He sometimes takes on the role of Manager, to counter the two heel managers, but we’ll see if that will be necessary.

I am not all that familiar with some the of the wrestlers on your roster (I hardly ever play outside of North America in the C-Verse and when I do it is never in Japan). However, I have enjoyed what you have done here thus far, so I will make some picks and you can get a laugh at how bad my picks are.:D

Magnum Kobe vs. Emerald Angel

Okay this is the only match where I am not familiar with at least one of the wrestlers. With that being said I like the Emerald Angel's render more so I shall go with him.

Silver Shark vs. Acid

I think Acid is the better of the two here.

American Machine vs. Weapon X

Just because I know who American Machine is and he is awsome.

Emm. BHK. American Machine is the duo of Americana and Insane Machine. BTW I approve of BHK's picks.

Hehe, sorry for not being precise with if it was a tag team/ being a singles wrestler :p

Believe me I was as confused as you when I had to upload their tag team picture. It was saved as AmericanMachine.jpg, but I wrote American Machine.jpg, and that sure wasn't a tag team :p

EDIT: You will see what I mean by 'tag team picture' when you see the show.

WLW Reborn Tour (Show #1)

Monday, Week 1, January 2010

Iwata Hall, Iwata (Tohoku, Japan)

Attendance:
751

Duration:
1 hour

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/417/pmincident.jpg

Before the show, Taka Kajiwara, our awesome colour commentator came up to me backstage and told me he had arranged a little post-party, if it would be alright if he addressed the roster and told them about it. They were all very excited and that really helped create a great atmosphere.

http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/671/awesomethunder.jpghttp://img8.imageshack.us/img8/5461/vsfire.jpghttp://img231.imageshack.us/img231/4171/pandamask.jpg

Pre-Show:
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Awesome Thunder defeated Panda Mask II in 8:20 by pinfall with a Thunder Shock.

(Panda Mask seems to have learned something from working with a veteran like Awesome Thunder.)

The show starts with the
, and the announcers welcoming everyone to the arena:

Isei Deushi
- Hello everybody and welcome to the very first show of the year here in WLW, my name is Isei Deushi, and by my side is Taka Kajiwara.

Taka Kajiwara
- Thanks a lot for that introduction Isei, and it is truly an exciting new year for us here at World Level Wrestling.

Isei Deushi
- Indeed it is Taka. Tonight you will see some fine battles, as Magnum Kobe's associate, Silver Shark takes on the mysterious Acid, for the chance to challenge Hell Monkey for the Showstealer title.

Isei Deushi
- And in our main event, Def-REALM's Emerald Angel will challenge Magnum Kobe for the World Level Universal title.

Taka Kajiwara
- Tonight is truly an exciting night, and we start of with some tag team action.

Taka Kajiwara
- WLW's newest signee who is on this tour with us will be in battle. He is not unkown to WLW, and he is a true american.

Isei Deushi
- That's right, up next we have American Machine of 505 battling Black House Nations' Weapon X.

http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/3034/americanainsane.jpghttp://img8.imageshack.us/img8/5461/vsfire.jpghttp://img39.imageshack.us/img39/1498/weaponx.jpg

Opener:
In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, American Machine defeated Weapon X in 12:26 when Americana defeated Rogue Matsuo SF by pinfall with an Inferno Splash.

(American Machine both showed their new gimmick and they seemed to work out just great.)

http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/1364/wlwannounceteam2.jpg

Taka Kajiwara
- General Hayashi sure isn't looking very happy.

Isei Deushi
- Well, why should he? His team just lost to a team from America.

Taka Kajiwara
- Insane Machine is the Streetfighting champion though. No shame in losing to a champion.

Isei Deushi
- I see what you mean, but Matsuo is a champion aswell, he shouldn't be losing then.

Isei Deushi
- Either way, it's a good win for American Machine right off the top of our tour.

(...)

Taka Kajiwara
- Next up is a match for the #1 Contendership for the Showstealer title. Will the mysterious foreigner Acid get a shot, or will the red Silver Shark be the winner today?

Taka Kajiwara
- This is up next!

Match #2:
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Silver Shark defeated Acid in 13:02 by submission with a Jaws Of Life.

(Silver Shark is #1 Contender for the Showstealer title.)

Angle #1:
Immediately after Silver Shark and Acid leaves the arena, Thunderstruck (
) hits the ring, and the crowd goes crazy, as they know who is coming. Out steps Awesome Thunder, microphone in hand.

Awesome Thunder
– Let me start off by saying: Welcome, to the very first show of the year! The year of 2010 looks to be an exciting one, not only for WLW, but for me, Awesome Thunder, as well. I want to achieve everything I can here, and having already held the highly sought after World Level Universal title belt, a record 6-times, that no longer seems like a challenge to me.
*a few confused boo’s are heard in the crowd*
From this day forward, I will want to fight anyone on the WLW roster who dares fight against me. That’s right! I hope everyone in the back is listening, because one of you better prepare for next week, as I will be taking on the first challenger there!
*crowd cheers as Thunder leaves to Thunderstruck*

(Good promo from Awesome Thunder, let the challengers come
:)
)
[66 / C+]

http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/1364/wlwannounceteam2.jpg

Taka Kajiwara
- Sounds like we will be getting some epic match-ups on Awesome Thunder's road to glory.

Isei Deushi
- It will be exciting to see who dares challenge him though.

Taka Kajiwara
- You got that right. Ladies and Gentlemen, as you may have noticed our crew are putting up ladders around the ring, as this next match-up is a Ladder match!

Isei Deushi
- These two competitors are known not to be afraid to take great risks, and a Ladder match between these two seems perfect.

Taka Kajiwara
- As you can see, the belt is now hanging high above the ring. The winner will be the first person to crawl up a ladder, grab the title belt, and land with both feet on the ground.

I for one, am looking forward to it, and here we have our first competitor!

*
plays and massive boos come from the crowd. Out comes Magnum Kobe, with an arrogant look on his face. Shaking his head while passing the fans, he makes his way to the ring. *

*
plays and 2 seconds later, Emerald Angel runs out, and immediately starts jumping around, to a HUGE pop from the crowd. Clapping hands of the first few fans, he swiftly makes it to the ring. *

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6373/wlwuniversal.jpg

http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/1084/magnumkobeuchamp.jpghttp://img8.imageshack.us/img8/5461/vsfire.jpghttp://img7.imageshack.us/img7/7621/emeraldangel.jpg

Main Event:
In a bout that had great heat and great wrestling action, Magnum Kobe defeated Emerald Angel in a Ladder match in 19:47 when Magnum Kobe retrieved the item after Emerald Angel had been distracted by Silver Shark.

(Apparently, neither Kobe nor Angel has the psychology to pull off a match that long. And even though they did some spectacular moves, neither of them seemed to actually sell the other persons moves, which made the moves seem less impressive.)

Post-Match Interview /w Loser:

http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/7621/emeraldangel.jpghttp://img192.imageshack.us/img192/1069/iseideushialt2.jpg

Emerald Angel
- Magnum Kobe thinks he can just bring in his lackeys to keep me busy, while he grabs the title for himself. But I won’t stand for it anymore! There needs to be some fair matches in this ring. No more bull**** Magnum. At Fame & Fortune, it’s you and me, with EVERYONE barred from ringside. That’s right Magnum… No more interference… No more distractions… You better get ready!

(...)

Isei Deushi
- And with that said, Goodbye!

Overall Show Rating:
[69 / C+]

As the show was over, I had a really good feeling. This was exactly what I had missed. The excitement while watching a show that you had booked yourself. Will it succeed? Will it fail?

This
WILL
succeed.

Quick Results:

Pre-Show: Awesome Thunder def. Panda Mask in 8:20.

American Machine def. Weapon X in 12:26.

#1 Contenders Match: Silver Shark def. Acid in 13:02.

World Level Universal: Magnum Kobe def. Emerald Angel in 19:47.

http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/8343/acid.jpghttp://img139.imageshack.us/img139/3689/czcw.jpg

As I had expected, Acid’s old home of CZCW have made him an offer to come perform on their monthly shows. They hold all their shows on Monday’s so it would clash with all of our touring Mondays, which would be a big problem... for them. We are the bigger company, and he should always prioritize us, which means they will have him under contract, but never use him. Their loss.

http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/7951/magnumkobe.jpghttp://img228.imageshack.us/img228/285/gcgs.jpg

As I had heard a lot about the promotional talent stealing in Japan, I wasn’t surprised to hear about the first offer for our priced Universal title holder, Magnum Kobe. GCG had just risen to Cult status, and were looking to expand. Hopefully Kobe feels that WLW have given him some good opportunities and decides to stay.

Prediction Score:

Hyde Hill: 2/3

BHK1978: 1/3

MichiganHero: 1/3

Maximilian_WWW: 2/3

Lo-Drew: 1/3

Thanks a lot for the predictions! :)
