Ric Flair: First off, don't get to excited out there, the next time I am in this area you just buy them tickets and watch the world greatest wrestler. Mr. Caudle, when I found out we were doing the show here at Spartanburg Sc, I just had to fly in. Now don't get your hopes up. Because I'm not here to defend this world title of mine. As a matter of fact I am announcing I will not defend this title anymore on free television ever again. You want to see me defend the belt, well then where ever there is a big event going on and you see my name on the marque, then you buy those tickets. Then maybe, just maybe you will get the closest you will ever come to greatness Whoo!

Ivan Koloff comes out. He tells us that he is tired of being put down by the American wrestling fan. They do not appreciate greatness from other parts of the world. He would think somebody like this Wahoo McDaniel could understand. But he is just another bigoted American. Although himself and Jos Leduc are looking to climb the mountain to achieve tag team gold. Tonight is all about single competition. But in reality this Wahoo McDaniel is nothing more than an exhibition. DA Comrades.

Gordon Solie and David Crockett

Gordon Solie and David Crockett welcome us to World Wide Wrestling. David tells us his father has an important message to announce. Jim Crockett comes into the scene and says he has two important messages to pass on. With the success of The Crockett Cup still being fresh and the wrestling world is still talking about, we want to bring you another all star caliber event. We are announcing right now, we are in the process of signing finishing the paper work on a major event. We are calling this event Clash of The Champions. In this event we here at Jim Crockett Promotions will do his best to bring you every champion I can bring in from the NWA to defend their belts.

Gordon Solie and David Crockett are stunned at the news but are excited as well. Jim Crockett stops them for a moment. In case you haven't heard the news, but yesterday Ric Flair told a television audience he would not be defending the NWA world title on free TV. Well that didn't set to will with Jim, so since he is the NWA president he does have some clout in these matters. Jim Crockett goes on to announce tonight's main event will be Jack Brisco VS Dick Slater VS Ric Flair for the NWA World title. And it will take place tonight.

Ric Flair comes storming out from out back and demands answers. Ric asks Jim Crockett what right does he have to book himself in a title match? And how can Jim book his champion like that with no time to prepare for this match? Jim tells Ric because he is the president, not Flair. And Flair can cry about it all he wants. He can either defend the belt tonight, or he can forfeit the title now.

Flair is fuming at this decision and promised that this will be brought up to the board of directors in the NWA.

Good to hear you're back and looking forward to the next show. Just curious - are you playing this on TEW 2008 or did you upgrade the 2008 D.O.T.T. Beta to 2010?

Being played on 2010. Modified from various people. I would say but honestly I forgot who they are and fearfull of leaving anybody out. I tweeked some stats on my own, and importated Genadi's narratives into this puppy so this could get really interesting down the road. Was surprised to see Backlund and The Sarge leave the WWF and sign with AWA. No matter what I tried to tweek Capt Lou and Pat Patterson were always let go. But I did try to stop it.

Got everything wrote but the Main Event on World Wide Wrestling done. So the shows will go up by this weeks end. Might have another Scoop Jones segment posted before then.

Scoop Jones here with all of your wrestling insider news. In this installment I will be discussing in length about an organization in trouble. The World Wrestling Federation otherwise known as the WWF.

This promotion has of late seen a lot of roster turmoil and unrest. As was reported earlier with the fallout between Vince McMahon and some of his top stars, like Bob Backlund, Sgt Slaughter, and Superstar Billy Graham to name a few. Vince seems to have sent a clear cut message to his workers he is in charge, and your either with him or against him. When asked if he would continue to promote outside of his “home territory” he responded he would promote a show with his promotion anywhere he chooses too.

This attitude may come back to bite him. The WWF have let go many a name that was well knownnot only in their promotion but across the nation as well. Now don't get me wrong, the recent acquisitions of Roddy Piper, Gino Hernandez, Jesse Ventura, and now apparently The Junkyard Dog, are all fine workers. But just how well are they known across the nation?

When you are headlining your shows with The Wild Samoans, and Don Muraco VS Jules Strongbow you are in trouble. With Sika being your world champion, well you get the picture. This will be a test for the relatively new owner on whether he can make new stars.

Andre The Giant and Don Muraco have put on the best matches so far for the WWF. Andre beat both Bob Backlund and Sgt Slaughter before they both had left the organization. But the matches from Don Muraco have been very good as well. One has to wonder if Muraco is being groomed for a world title run.

In AWA news Greg Gagne is apparently has locked in a feud with new comer Buzz Sawyer for the AWA Television Title. Nick Bockwinkle has perhaps finished his program with Hulk Hogan. Nick's new opponent looks to be Wahoo McDaniel as Wahoo owns a non title win over the AWA World Champion.

Jim Crockett Promotions and his Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling have really started to impress me as of late. The show quality was fine, but over the last couple of weeks the shows have been getting better. There is a war raging in this organization which could very easily spill across the nation. Terry Funk and Wahoo McDaniel are chasing Ric Flair's NWA World Title. This is perhaps the country's hottest storyline right now. But they as a promotion are still vulnerable. WWF had paid some fans attending Mid-Atlantic's Saturday's show from last week and some chants had broken out that were clearly audible during the broadcast.

Bob Caudle and David Crockett welcome us to the show. And we already have some news to share with you. We have some video footage of importance that happened just moments ago. The scene shifts to the video feed and shows Bugsy McGraw walking into the backstage area. The Assassin comes out of nowhere and sucker punches Bugsy. The Assassin then picks up a trash can and beats Bugsy on top of his head. Bugsy is down and out. The Assassin overturns a table on top of him. David Crockett is shown shaking his head as Bob Caudle announces we have no word on the condition of Bugsy McGraw at this time. But if that isn't enough our main event has been signed for not only tonight, but at the Clash of Champions as well. We will see Wahoo McDaniel VS Terry Funk VS Ric Flair for the NWA championship. And we have one of those men participating in that matchup coming now. Terry Funk your thoughts?

Terry Funk is being booed and he pays them no attention. He tells us he tried to bury the hatchet between him and Wahoo. But because he wants to be mule headed about, well he is just gonna have to beat him like a mule. And speaking of asses, finally he gets a shot at that yellowed bellied coward Ric Flair. And after tonight the Double Cross Ranch will be the center of the entire world.

Ric Flair is in a somber mood backstage talking with Tony Schiavone. He tells us once again The Crocketts are finding ways to screw over their champion. He wonders what the NWA board will have to say about this. Because he does have a meeting with them in private Monday morning and you can rest assure some changes are coming in the future. As far as tonights match is concerned? Diamonds are forever, and so is Ric Flairs title reign. Whoo!

Battered and bruised these three men who have fought so hard tonight still are trying to tear into one another. NWA officials and other wrestlers come out and finally separate the three men. Flair, bleeding slightly raises his title up in the air as Terry Funk and Wahoo are trying to chase him down but are held off by various personal. Has anything been settled here tonight? I for one do not think so. This is going to be a great main event at Clash of Champions explains Bob Caudle as we come to a close.

Outstanding - congrats on the grading for your main event too by the way.

What I love about your diaries sam is that you capture the feel of the 'genre' so well. In your 70s CV diary a while ago I used to love the little nuances like the post match interviews, some of the things your commentators would say, the wrestler being led down the aisle perhaps flanked by enforcement agents, and the dinging of the bell for the announcement of the match.

You do it here perfectly as well. There's a few parts I'd like to point out that pick this time period up perfectly:

- The 'overturned' table. So many attacks in those days seemed to feature a basic foldaway table being dumped on the face.

- The intro from Caudel and David Crockett "Moments ago", that is how their shows invariably started with a recapturing of something that happened before the show started. I didn't get to see the territories when it was live, we just didn't get it in New Zealand, but what I love in hindsight watching it was how they sustained kayfabe by showcasing things that happened outside the premise of the show.

- Introducing the new wrestler to the promotion around the announce desk with Bob Caudle. I used to love the segments where the wrestlers would hover around the around desk for a promo.

- The use of officials to break apart a melee.

I don't know, I guess it was the era trying to sustain kayfabe while VKM Jr started to hear to a more cartoonish style, but those things made it still appear relevant.

Keep up the great work, I am extremely glad to see you back doing old skool diaries.

Thanks my brother from another mother. This period just was magical in my mind. I try and reflect back on my youth, no matter how hard it seems to get each day, on some of the shows I remember back in the day. Maybe now a days it would not work, but back then, very much so.

Each one of my diaries I have had failing somewhere that get me frustrated. This one is my lack of portraying managers. I am not at the frustrated level because I am acknowledging it and will be making a effort to correct it. Gary Hart was I feel an underated manager. But I have an idea to set the stage to get comfortable with managers.

Glad you are enjoying. By the way everybody, thanks again for the nomination to the DOTM Rookie. I thank those who voted for me and I am again honored by the selection. World Wide Wrestling will be up sometime tomorrow. Just got finished rewritting the ending.

Gordon Solie and David Crockett welcome us to a great night of NWA action here on Wide World Wrestling. And before they could get any further Ric Flair makes his way from the backstage area. Flair announces he is some kind a fine. But you know what is not fine with Flair? Jim Crockett treating him the way how he as over the last couple of weeks. Its insane to treat a man of Flair's caliber in this manner. But thats OK he has a meeting with the NWA Board of Directors tomorrow and we will have a little chat about Jimbo Crockett and the way he is treating me.

Jim Crockett comes out next. He tells Flair that he is a great champion, but if Flair thinks he is going to run rough shod over the President of the NWA? Well he has another thing coming. Flair isn't the only one who is scheduled to see the Board of Directors. Jim has called a special meeting himself and will see Flair there tomorrow. Oh and by the way the three way match you had yesterday in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling just proves it will be a worthy Main Event for Clash of the Champions.

Gordon Solie announces it was a good win for Valiant to get back to the win column. Out comes Harley Race. David Crockett greets Mr. Race. Race is a little upset with David. Harley wonders why Davids dad has not booked anything between himself and Flair yet? All this talk about going to the board of directors has everyone side tracked. Glad to have you aboard BHK. It pleases me that you are enjoying this. As I hope it shows I try my best to recaputure the feel of oldschool rassling. But I must give credit. OLDSCHOOL himself with his WWF diary really does a great job at it. But again I try and do my best. Hope to see you around for plenty of more action.

I was fortunate enough to grow up in an area where I could watch several of the old territories like Southeastern from Knoxville, Mid-Southern from Memphis, Mid-Atlantic, and Georgia Championship - our rotary attenna on the roof brought snowy tv shows from Asheville NC and Greenville SC (the snowy picture just made it seem that much more exotic -- kids today watching HDTV on cable/satellite would never get it). The memory of Paul Jones vs Ivan Koloff for the tv title (including an arm wrestling match where Ivan picked up the table and bashed Paul in the head)

Suffice it to say, I am enjoying this nostalgic flashback. Keep up the good work --- looking forward to seeing a the 6-man Native American dream team of Briscos and Wahoo McDaniel teaming up against the Funks and company. Enough talent there to jumpstart a 6-man title if you were so inclinded.

Hey Olympia. You were lucky indeed. I use to live in Adamsville and Savannah TN so I caught the tale end of the Lawler/Kaufman war in Memphis. I remember my mom having a crush on one of the refs, Jerry Calhoun. But anyways had cable and could watch Memphis of course, WWF and then NWA on WTBS. Wish I could have seen MACW and Mid South in real life.

I have thought about a six man title, but I want to bring in the TV title before hand. And before I do that I want some more tag teams. Gosh I have alot I want to focus on. Managers, Tag Teams because in this time tag teams meant so much more than what they do now, TV, then 6 man. Anyways glad to have you pop in. Hope to do your childhood memories good.

This brings back so many memories. I Grew up in the Mid-Atlantic area and even though I was little when the MACW shows came on tv, I have watched several of them on WWE 24/7. Reading this is making me think about doing on of my own. Keep it up.

Hey go for it Horsemanfan. Eventually I am going to be breaking away historically so your take on them could be very entertaining. Glad to have you aboard.

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling has been wrote except the final scene. I hope to have World Wide done either tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Either way both will be up this weekend. Most likely one show posted sometime friday night and World Wide posted Saturday. To be honest I dont like how this weeks Scoop Jones segment has turned out. Might scrap it for this week or I might be able to save it.

You think that was good, I actually remember watching The Letterman show when both were there and they went to a commercial break and during that break Lawler decked Kaufman. It had me hook line and sinker where I thought this was a real hatred. They both sold it very well.

Show will be up in a few.

Bob Caudle and Tony Schiavone welcome us to Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. Mr. Caudle tells us there will be some word tomorrow on World Wide Wrestling on the emergency meeting with the NWA Board of Directors. Wahoo McDaniel comes from the backstage area and into the scene. Bob Caudle asks Wahoo if he has any information about the meeting? Wahoo tells us he hasn't received any information other that what we know right now. But he isn't out here for that. He goes to say he is sick and tired of being screwed out of title shot after title shot. Well since he cant get his hands on one Funk brother, he might as well get the other one. Wahoo tells us he will be going one on one vs Dory Funk later tonight for the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight title. And with that he leaves.

Thoughts on the show:

- Opening segment: I love the reference to the NWA Board of Directors. Hell yes! THAT is classic NWA stuff.

- Love the pose off between Superstar and Mr Wonderful, and then blowing Pee-Wee aside from the brawl to continue.

- Nice build to a pay off match by not following through with the piledriver. I'm looking forward to where you go with Superstar and Mr Wonderful. Just on Superstar, I read his book... I've read a few wrestling books, and to be honest, I barely saw the man wrestle, but I learned so much about professional wrestling and life in general from his book. I don't know if you've read it, but I'd dead set give it 5 stars. Ric Flair's book is ok, but its a little WWE-marky, Bret Hart's is sensational, Superstar's on another level again.

- Love the fact Arn went over. Massive Arn Anderson fan here, I'm sure you already knew that. Arn was the embodiment of Mid Atlantic, the NWA as it was, and WCW as it evolved. When I watched Arn fight, there were moments where, knowing wrestling was fake, I could genuinely sit back and believe. He was tough as hell.

- I feel for Mike Rotundo having to team with Angelo, don't know, never rated Angelo. Liked Jones and Dirty Dick going over for that reason.

- Typical old skool promo from Dory, you know... the whole logical breaking it down. "You couldn't beat him, I beat him, and so forth". Nice.

- YEEESSSSS!!! The Sheepherders! My fellow country-men! Go New Zealand! Push them to the moon baby.

- AHHHHH!! Love the scream!

- OMG. One Man Gang. Really enjoyed him. But... I'm really pining for Sweet Stan Lane and Steve Keirn to go over.

- Nice show breaker with the referee squash into the DQ. You haven't damaged Dory Funk, but it seemed to me that Wahoo comes out of this strong heading into a match with Terry Funk.

Quality booking, my friend.

Wahoo McDaniel comes out to a good ovation by the crowd. He says he has been ordered along with Ric Flair and Terry Funk to stay out of each other paths tonight. But that doesn't mean he cant say a few words about Flair or Funk for that matter. Ric Flair I had you beat, plain and simple but you slipped out like the snake you are. But Terry Funk, is another bread of creature all together. Funk is about as yellow are one can get. That man has screwed me out of many a title shot, including yesterday with his brother Dory for the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. At Clash of Champions I get you both, and your gonna find out why you don't cross paths with one ticked off Indian.

Gordon Solie announces we will hear a few words from Harley Race which was recorded earlier today.

Harley Race: People have been wrong about me for many different reasons. They were wrong when I got into a car accident and was told I would never walk again. They were wrong when they said I would never wrestle again. Yet here I am walking. And here I am a man who has wrestled across the world. And now I am being told I will never be worlds champion ever again. Well I promise you this, I don't care who wins at Clash at Champions. I will show you all I will once again be a world champion.

The show comes to a close as we have Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood roll out of the ring before any attack by Jos Leduc and Ivan Koloff could happen. Jos and Ivan are staring down Ricky and Jay as Gordon Solie says that is all the time we have tonight. Keep in mind folks we are 1 week away from Clash of Champions.

Sorry guys, had every intentions of getting this done last night. Went out with my lady instead and got sidetracked :D.

I will be working on Clash of the Champions and I might be a little delayed on my next posts. As I will be posting three shows in a short time when I am happy with how Clash is wrote. The order will be Mid-Atlantic, World Wide, then Clash of Champions.

I should read more wrestling books myself. The only one I have really immersed myself in was Death of WCW. Thought you would like The Sheephearders. Kind of targeted you with that one but I actually have some plans with them. Guess you gotta stay tuned for that one.

some fun new additions to the MAC line-up.

Sheepherders can always cause a riot. Can only hope for a reprise of their bloody feud with the Fabs.

Bobby Eaton getting the win over Gene Anderson at this stage is major.

Hoping Dizzy Ed Hogan doesn't go crying to his "uncle" Terry like he always did in Memphis. Then again, letting Hulk come in to get carved up by Abdullah, the Funks, and Flair in Mid-Atlantic could be worth the price of admission.

well-played with the Valentine vs Valiant storyline by the way.

As a big fan of Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them as your diary goes on. Been enjoying it overall so far.

I don't mean to nitpick here - and I don't know if anyone else has pointed this out - but you've mentioned Jim Crocket being David's dad a few times during the shows, but you've ran the Crocket cup - which was held in Jim's memory. It'd be Jim Crocket, Jr at this time, would it not?

Before anyone bites my head off I don't mean to criticise, it just was something that jumped out at me. I'm a bit neurotic with things like that. Genuinely have been enjoying it so far and - just like olympia said - it seemed like a huge deal for Eaton to get a win over Gene Anderson.

I'd love to see some sort of Anderson family stable/team.
