'The Minor Annoyance' Rebel Yell presents Real American Wrestling

Recommended Posts

<p><strong>End of year review (W-L, average rating.) </strong></p><p> </p><p>

Note: Any popularity increases talked about are since June. </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Main eventers</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Amber Allen (16-4, 45)</strong> – Still the MVP. 2 matches a month, every month. Despite being thrown in there with some terrible wrestlers – including me – has never had a particularly bad match. Improving rapidly in most skills. Ridiculously cheap and incredibly positive backstage. Popularity up from 24 to 31.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Ant Man (16-2, 34)</strong> – What if you dominated a federation and nobody noticed? Ant Man has the best win-loss record by some way of our established wrestlers… but he doesn’t put on good enough matches to get a major push. Having said that, he’s cheap, he works twice a night, he’s young, and he’s improving rapidly. Popularity up from 19 to 36.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Nigel Svensson (6-3, 50) –</strong> Insanely good, and probably Amber’s closest rival for MVP. Expect to see him pulling double duty soon – although his recent return to ROF means he may miss the odd show. Like the above two, costs just $100 a show and is superb value for money. Popularity up from 18 to 36. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Regular Joe (4-4, 38) </strong>– Joe is slipping. He’s no longer really needed as a back-up road agent, since Tamara and Connie are better. His recent matches haven’t been up to much. And he costs more than the above three combined, while not being overly pleasant backstage. This may be one main eventer with a short shelf life. Popularity up from 21 to 29.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Remmy Honeyman (1-3, 57) </strong>– Why did I put the belt on a guy without a pro wrestling victory? Simple – he’s continually producing the goods in great matches. Remmy has made a superb start to his RY-RAW career, and fully justifies his $450 a show price tag. Plus, the guys and girls all love him! Popularity up from 22 to 31.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Tamara McFly (5-1, 49) </strong>– At $450 a pop, our joint most expensive wrestler – but well worth it, as she also does road agent duties for matches she’s not involved in. Unbeaten in solo action, her only loss being the battle royal, she’s consistently involved in good matches. Once again, great to have backstage. Popularity up from 26 to 34.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Upper midcarders</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Amazing Fire Fly. (2-2, 42) </strong>– Despite having only been around six months or so and not featuring on every show, the ultra-flashy luchador is definitely a big part of future plans. He’s extremely popular backstage, his debut against Amber showed he’s capable of really good matches – we just need to be careful about who we put him in the ring with, as he has a tendency to resort to spotfests if he’s not up against someone who can lead him through a match. Popularity up from 3 to 15.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ashley Grover (4-3-1, 40) </strong>– As I’ve said before Ashley’s lack of psychology has soured me on her, but she’s made some progress on improving that. Unlikely to get a major push, but good to have around. Still, at $400 a pop she’s never going to be a regular. Popularity up from 23 to 28. </p><p>

</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Connie Morris (6-3, 38) </strong>– Connie’s suffered from Tamara McFly’s signing, as her $400 a show looked reasonable when she was also road agenting most of our matches, but is less appealing now. On the other hand, she’s extremely consistent, is capable of a reasonable match with most of our roster, and doesn’t seem too bothered if she’s left off shows. Popularity has actually slipped slightly, from 29 to 27.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Nomad (2-6, 38) </strong>– Still around, but only just. Looking back it’s incredible that he main evented our first two shows. Not likely to make THAT mistake again. His inconsistency, mainly due to his drugs habit, means that he’s probably the next out of the door. Popularity up from 13 to 16.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Paradigm (0-9, 37)</strong> – The trio of the Paratroopers and Rex Reeves are good friends, so I don’t want to fire any of them and upset the other two. Of course, since none of them are actually any good, I could just fire them ALL, but that would be a poopyheadish thing to do. Paradigm has actually produced consistently decent, if unspectacular, matches – but that’s got more to do with the fact he keeps ending up in the ring with Amber Allen than any talent of his own. What IS amazing is that the fans are getting behind him even though he keeps getting squashed. Popularity up from 14 to 22.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Paranoia (2-7, 31)</strong> – Bizarrely, has made less of an impact than his partner despite actually winning a couple. Popularity up from 13 to 25.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Syd Collier. (1-5, 36) </strong>– The Class Act’s spot is safe for a while yet, he’s cheap and he’s friends with Ant Man. Nothing special in the ring, but fairly solid. Popularity up from 6 to 12.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>‘The Minor Annoyance’ Rebel Yell (1-7, 28) </strong>– I’ve been in some terrible matches, I guess, but mainly against equally bad opponents. One day, I AM gonna improve! Popularity up from 4 to 14.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Midcarders</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Buzz Reid (0-2, 25)</strong> – The big brawler is a relative newcomer but hasn’t impressed so far. Popularity down from 9 to 8.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Donte Dunn (1-2, 32) </strong>- The Barbadian Barbarian has made a slightly better start to life in RY-RAW than Reid, but isn’t really living up to the hype that you’d expect from a DeColt Power House graduate. Popularity up from 0 to 14. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Frankie-Boy Fernandes (0-1, 38)</strong> – Has only turned out for us once but Coastal Zone are obviously high on him, putting him over the seemingly surefire future star in the making KC Glenn at Showdown at Sundown 2010. We may bring him back in January to give him another chance to impress. Popularity up from 4 to 7.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Lower Midcarders</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rex Reeves (0-4-1, 24)</strong> – The nearest thing we have to a complete waste of space, Reeves is being kept around just as an extra body, basically. Popularity up from 6 to 8.</p>

RY-RAW Presents

Keeping It Real, Sunday Week 2 January 2011

Donte Dunn/Kamikaze Christian Vars vs Nigel Svensson/Tamara McFly

This is a surprisingly good contest, thanks to Tamara and Nigel doing a great job of carrying the debuting Vars through, despite his ring rust. Amber Allen’s given a shot at working as a road agent for it, since neither Regular Joe nor Connie Morris is working tonight, and does a reasonable job. Unfortunately, Tamara and Nigel don’t work too well together, but that’s not a major issue given how infrequent our tag matches are.

Tamara McFly and Nigel Svensson defeated Donte Dunn and Kamikaze Christian Vars in 9:37 when Tamara McFly defeated Kamikaze Christian Vars by pinfall with a McFly Roll. (43)

Amber/Ant Man vs Paranoia/The Minor Annoyance

This is your standard fare, but I put myself in instead of Paradigm to save a few bucks. Usual squash victory for AA and AM.

Amber Allen defeated 'The Minor Annoyance' by submission with a Cross Arm Breaker. (37)

Amazing Fire Fly vs Ashley Grover

Fun match, although worryingly Ashley seems unhappy at having to job here. I hope that’s just her having a bad night and not a sign she’s getting too full of herself…

Amazing Fire Fly defeated Ashley Grover in 7:52 by pinfall with a Sky High Fire Fly. (50)

Buzz Reid vs Syd Collier

Ugh – this was placed to cool the crowd down a bit before the submissions match. There was no need for them to cool them down THIS much. Awful.

Syd Collier defeated Buzz Reid in 5:46 by submission with a Texas Cloverleaf. (20)

Submissions match: Amber vs Nomad

And, screwing up my plans slightly, Amber and Nomad prove phenomenally good together in what should be a fairly meaningless squash to establish Amber’s Cross Arm Breaker as a feared submission hold. This may be enough to get Nomad a few more pay days…

Amber Allen defeated Nomad in 8:51 by submission with a Cross Arm Breaker. (48)

Big Gold Belt match: Remmy vs Ant Man

Not one of our best ever mains, but still a good outing for these two as they give it everything they’ve got. Ant Man comes really close with a couple of big moves, including an impressive running powerslam, but Remmy kicks out of the nearfalls, avoids an Antidote, and rallies to finally pick up a singles victory.

Remmy Honeyman defeated Ant-Man in 12:21 by pinfall with a Flying Legdrop. (53)

Final rating 51

Attendance 30

Popularity in Mid-South 6.9 -> 7.7

Another pretty predictable card there. Congratulations to everyone with 6/6 – that’s Lt. Lucrativo, MattQ2607, 1PWFan, The Effect and BHK1978. You all get to ask a question if you want one.

At the start of February, Mammoth sets up the Canadian Women’s Wrestling Federation, installing Adrian Garcia as head booker. Garcia immediately snaps up Amber, Ashley and Tamara… while I’m happy they’ve got another pay day, this is worrying because it could end up putting them on NOTBPW’s radar. (Or back on NOTBPW’s radar, in Tamara’s case.)

RY-RAW Presents

Keeping It Real, Sunday Week 2 February 2011

Remmy Honeyman defends his Big Gold Belt title against Connie Morris, while Nigel Svensson will try to prove he’s just as good as his rival Amber Allen, and follow in her footsteps by beating Nomad. Plus, two of our longest serving stars duke it out, as Amber Allen goes head to head with Regular Joe!

Big Gold Belt match: Remmy Honeyman vs Connie Morris

Nigel Svensson vs Nomad,

Amber Allen vs Regular Joe

Ashley Grover vs Syd Collier

Rex Reeves vs Tamara McFly

Ant Man vs The Minor Annoyance

Amber Allen/Amazing Fire Fly vs Paratroopers

Podcast Episode 4

Connie: You can boast all you want about winning that belt, Remmy. It’s a joke that you got in that battle royal ahead of me when you’d never won a match. Still, at least they’re correcting that now.

Remmy: I got lucky getting in there, but I won it through sheer skill. Just like I beat Nigel last time around through skill. Maybe when I make it three in a row people will start acknowledging how good I am.

Amber: You know, I wanted to make this one a submissions match, but apparently it was ‘inappropriate’. Scared much Joe?

Ant-Man: It’s ironic. I’m the one nicknamed Ant Man, HE’S the one who keeps getting squashed like a bug!

Nomad: Whoa… pretty lights!

Joe: I got no say over what matches I’m in. If RY-RAW say this should be a normal match, that’s how it goes.

Syd: It’s my time! Everything I learnt in Rip Chord’s Boot Camp, I’m gonna show it off here!

Nigel: So Amber, you learnt a submissions move. Well done! The thing is, I wrestled in Wigan for years. I’ve fought more submissions specialists than you can imagine. And knowing the Cross Arm Breaker does NOT make you a submissions specialist.

Amber: Whatever the powers that be say, I know exactly what I’m going to do. I’ll break your arm, Joe.

Big Gold Belt match: Remmy Honeyman vs Connie Morris

Connie's solid, but she's not Big Gold Belt material. There are just too many people that I'd say are ahead of her in the rankings.

Nigel Svensson vs Nomad,

Amber Allen vs Regular Joe

Nigel and Amber are on a collision course--I don't see either losing until their rematch.

Ashley Grover vs Syd Collier

This looks like the most likely upset of the night, but I think it's more likely that this is an attempt to pacify Ashley with a solid win. Collier's not really in position to be moved up the card very far.

Rex Reeves vs Tamara McFly

Ant Man vs The Minor Annoyance

Amber Allen/Amazing Fire Fly vs Paratroopers

Reeves, Annoyance and the Paratroopers are all essentially jobbers, and they're all going up against major players--I can't see any upsets in these three matches.

RY-RAW Presents

Keeping It Real, Sunday Week 2 February 2011

Amber Allen/Amazing Fire Fly vs Paratroopers

The usual Amber showcase. Rather than the normal Northern Lights Suplex finish, as she once again goes for the Cross Arm Breaker, making Paradigm tap out.

Amber Allen and Amazing Fire Fly defeated Paratroopers in 5:58 when Amber Allen defeated Paradigm by submission with a Cross Arm Breaker. (42)

Ant Man vs The Minor Annoyance

He squashes me like a bug, once again. No one likes it. I’m starting to wonder whether I’m cut out for this…

Ant-Man defeated 'The Minor Annoyance' in 5:50 by pinfall with an Antidote. (26)

Rex Reeves vs Tamara McFly

This is a surprisingly entertaining squash match. Tamara appears able to drag ANYONE to something half decent, giving Reeves a tiny bit of offense before finishing him of with her McFly Roll.

Tamara McFly defeated Rex Reeves in 6:23 by pinfall with a McFly Roll. (40)

Ashley Grover vs Syd Collier

Bah… this is a good match, but once again Ashley’s whining about doing the job here. In our otherwise wonderful locker room, she’s becoming something of a worry. She’s booked to look strong, before eventually getting caught in a Texas Cloverleaf and tapping out, but that doesn’t satisfy her.

Syd Collier defeated Ashley Grover in 8:03 by submission with a Texas Cloverleaf. (43)

Amber Allen vs Regular Joe

With Amber trying to get the Cross Arm Breaker all-match, she falls victim to a surprise roll-up by Joe at the eight and a half minute mark. Great bout which the crowd are really into. Amber looks seriously annoyed after the match and Joe leaves rather quickly.

Regular Joe defeated Amber Allen in 8:29 by pinfall with a roll up. (56)

Nigel Svensson vs Nomad

It’s hardly a show stopper, but at least this proves Nomad may not be completely useless. He’s still high, but we’re used to that. Reasonably open, back and forth bout, before the tap out win for Nigel.

Nigel Svensson defeated Nomad in 6:59 by submission with a Hyper Extension Arm Lock. (47)

Big Gold Belt: Remmy Honeyman vs Connie Morris

Connie has had a bit of time off, but you can’t tell – she looks great in this match. Competitive and exciting, this pairing have the crowd pumped. It’s a really good contest with lots of near falls, and Remmy looks fantastic when he finally puts her away with a sweet top rope legdrop.

Remmy Honeyman defeated Connie Morris in 10:36 by pinfall with a Flying Legdrop. (59)

Final rating 55

RY-RAW Presents

Keeping It Real, Sunday Week 2 March 2011

Syd Collier is The Boot Camp Graduate. He’s been personally trained by the legendary Rip Chord. But can he take the Big Gold Belt from champion Remmy Honeyman?

Amber Allen is arguably the most dominant wrestler in RY-RAW, but shockingly got rolled up by Regular Joe as she tried to lock on her new Cross Arm Breaker finisher. She aims to rebound with a victory over the person who last year handed her her first loss in RY-RAW, Ashley Grover.

And Connie Morris is building up a reputation as a cult favourite amongst those fans who like butch chicks – but she faces a big challenge, as it’s the RY-RAW debut of the Cat’s Lair graduate, the Mistress Of The Backbreaker Talia Quinzel.

Podcast

Remmy: I’m sure it’s great being trained by a legend, but what matters is your heart. And I’ve got more heart than he’ll ever have.

Joe: Nomad, let’s see. Amber Allen nearly broke your arm. I beat Amber Allen. There’s a totem pole here… and it’s clear you’re at the bottom of it.

Amber: Ashley, remember that win you stole from me? I sure do… and this time, you’re going to pay.

Nomad: Bag!

Syd: I am the Boot Camp Graduate, and I’m winning the gold.

Paranoia: I’m not even wrestling? That sucks!

Talia: I know you’re used to steamrolling people, Connie. Believe me, you can’t steamroll through someone as tall as me.

Remmy: Boot Camp Graduate? Whatever… I’m the Big Gold Champion, man. Don’t forget it.

Nomad: Weed!

Paradigm: I have to wrestle by myself? That sucks!

Syd: Rip Chord just called me to wish me luck. That’s my trainer, Rip Chord. Who trained you, Honeyman?

Nomad: Girls!

Connie: The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

RY-RAW apologises for not bringing you questions as scheduled yesterday on the website due to technological problems. We now have the page live.

Hey Amazing it's The Effect again. So how long do you think it will be until you win the Big Gold Belt?

Esse, Fire Fly's gonnna win that belt next time I get a shot at it! How long's that gonna be? I got no idea, but maybe with fans like you the front office will realise that I deserve a chance. Thanks for the support, hombre!

Amazing Fire Fly

Nigel, how are you adjusting to life here in the United States? from BHK1978

I'm enjoying it. When I was 15, I moved to live with relatives in the UK so I could train with some of the guys in Wigan. That was a big upheaval for me, but it gave me the experience of settling into a new country. Moving to the US was pretty easy because of that. I love travelling and I'd like to think that in a few years time I might be ready to move on again, maybe to Japan.

Looks like Annoyance is trying to keep fans on their toes by mixing in a few upsets. We'll see if that trend continues.

Big Gold Belt: Remmy Honeyman vs Syd Collier

No upset here, as Remmy's done well as champion and Syd, although he now does appear to be rising, isn't at that level yet.

Nomad vs Regular Joe

Maybe an upset here, as Nomad hasn't won a match in quite some time but continues to be booked--and it seems like his performances may be improving somewhat. Still, I think Joe is a more valuable worker, and I don't see what giving him a win over Amber and then immediately jobbing him to a perennial loser accomplishes.

Amber Allen vs Ashley Grover

Apparently Amber is beatable, but she's such an important worker she has to be kept strong.

Connie Morris vs Talia Quinzel

Like eayragt, I don't know who Talia is, but I'll guess that the trend of workers debuting with a loss continues here.

Nigel Svensson vs Rex Reeves

Tamara McFly vs The Minor Annoyance

Amazing Fire Fly vs Paradigm

Can't see any upsets in these matches, which means I appear to be picking straight chalk once again. Perhaps Annoyance will have some surprises in store, though, and I'll have to re-evaluate my strategy in the future.

RY-RAW Presents

Keeping It Real, Sunday Week 2 March 2011

Amazing Fire Fly vs Paradigm

Both guys here have a bad night, and the result is an incredibly spotty spot-fest. Having said that, there’s enough jaw-dropping moves to keep the crowd fairly interested.

Amazing Fire Fly defeated Paradigm in 5:31 by pinfall with a Sky High Fire Fly. (39)

Tamara McFly vs The Minor Annoyance

I felt like I was dreaming here. Tamara carries me to my best ever match by just throwing me around and telling me what to do under her breath. Fantastic.

Tamara McFly defeated The Minor Annoyance in 6:23 by pinfall with a McFly Roll. (40)

Nigel Svensson vs Rex Reeves

Reeves is having an off-night and Nigel can still carry him to a better match than we could have dreamed of a year ago. Extended squash, but still good to watch.

Nigel Svensson defeated Rex Reeves in 7:59 by submission with a Hyper Extension Arm Lock. (47)

Connie Morris vs Talia Quinzel

We give a debut to the 6 foot Talia, Mistress of the Backbreaker, and Connie lets her have a decent amount of offense before finally putting her away. Highlight is a big chokeslam which gets a nearfall. Definitely someone we’ll have back.

Connie Morris defeated Talia Quinzel in 8:09 by pinfall with a Missouri Plough. (40)

Amber Allen vs Ashley Grover

Sadly, Ashley Grover is moving away from the list of people we’ll have back. This is okay, but should be so much better. Fairly open, with Amber working the arm over well, before taking the submission victory.

Amber Allen defeated Ashley Grover in 7:30 by submission with a Cross Arm Breaker. (45)

Nomad vs Regular Joe

Joe has a bad night here, and I’m regretting being soft enough to allow Nomad another spot in the semi-main. Even though he did well with Amber last time around, it’s clear that this pairing are nowhere near that level. They go at it for 7 minutes with a couple of near falls before Joe wins.

Regular Joe defeated Nomad in 7:21 by pinfall with a Joe And Behold. (37)

Big Gold Belt: Remmy Honeyman vs Syd Collier

Perfectly acceptable wrestling here, with another successful title defence for Remmy as we build him up before putting him against any of our real top stars.

Remmy Honeyman defeated Syd Collier in 11:08 by pinfall with a Flying Legdrop. (55)

We have another title defence, as Remmy Honeyman takes on RY-RAW original Regular Joe. 6-2 in singles action, the only people to defeat Joe so far are Amber Allen and Nomad, and he got back both those victories in the past two months. Will the Young American be the biggest challenge yet for Honeyman?

Amber Allen is becoming obsessed with the idea of getting a victory against Nigel Svensson in a submissions match. She’ll practice by taking on the Boot Camp Graduate Syd Collier – but first, she’s teaming up with Svensson against the Paratroopers. Can this uneasy pairing coexist, or will the Troopers finally get a victory over their nemesis?

Back in August, Tamara McFly beat Connie Morris in one of McFly’s first matches. With Morris on a tear recently – despite not being able to gain the Big Gold Belt – she’s demanded, and been granted, a rematch.

And it’s a warm welcome to RY-RAW for the Coastal Zone Combat Academy graduate Frankie Boy Fernandes. In CZCW, the cruiserweight has defeated KC Glenn, hotly tipped to be a star of the future, so he won’t be short on confidence – but he may need more than confidence to beat the dominant Ant Man.

Podcast

Ant-Man: Him again? Is he getting danger money for stepping in the ring with me? At least the new guy might be more of a challenge.

Amber: Hopefully, Svensson has enough sense to keep out of the way. I’ll take the two idiots apart, he can save his energy. He might need it to get past that giantess.

Frankie: Sure he’s tough, but he’s wrestling twice, and that has to take it out of him. This may be my chance to make a name for myself.

Connie: She’s a good wrestler, she already beat me. Doesn’t mean she’ll do it again. If you think the way I took down that six foot woman was impressive, wait until you see what I do to Canada’s finest.

Joe: This is my biggest chance yet. I’m not gonna blow it.

Paratroopers: We are on the same page, we are experienced together, and we are best buds! You two can’t hang with us!

Nigel: Do I want to team with her? Not really. Can I team with her effectively? Of course. All she has to do is stand there and watch while I show her how to PROPERLY apply a submission hold.

Syd: Speaking of submissions, I got taught a few by Rip Chord. I think you’ll find he knows just a LITTLE bit more about them than Steph Chee does.

Amber: The last time the great Rip Chord locked on a usable submission hold, Barrett wasn’t even conceived. I was trained by Steph Chee when she was at the peak of her career. That’s the difference.

Talia: They always say women are too small to compete with men. Then they look at me. What’s the weather like down there, Nigel?

Remmy: Rack them up. You keep firing them at me, The Big Gold Champ will keep knocking them down.
