As I wandered into the locker room before EVOLVE started, I found something interesting. Rob Reynolds and Lenny Brown had secluded themselves from the rest of the locker room and were enjoying classical music. I stopped a few feet away and heard them discussing their favorite composers from the past. I would have never guessed they liked that stuff.

On another note, I had planned to book James Prudence for this show, but he got injured in quite a funny manner the week before following his pre-show match with Bald Eagle. James went to leave the ring after his victory and fell from the apron, landing in a seated position on the floor. Unfortunately, the padding we use around the ring isn't very thick and Prudence doesn't have a very big ass, so he ended up with a bruised tailbone. I allowed the guy to have the week off, hoping he would be completely healed for Uprising tomorrow night.

Two More Names Announced for 2016 RCI

Mid Atlantic Wrestling Director of Operations Haley Buck has decided on two more invitees into the 2016 Rip Chord Invitational. Her decision was sent out to all the staff members of MAW in a memo earlier this morning. The 2016 RCI looks to be the best in recent years with the talent level that exists on the MAW roster. With talent such as James Prudence, Steven Parker, KC Glenn and others headlining shows in 2015, the January tournament looks to be impressive. The competition level will be bumped up a notch as sixteen men battle for the opportunity to challenge for the Mid Atlantic Title in the main event of MAW’s biggest show of the year; Where It All Begins Again. Already announced for the tournament are El Heroe Mexicano, KC Glenn and Aaron Fujita. It is now confirmed that James Prudence and Frankie Perez have been invited to compete in the tournament.

Frankie Perez has turned heads with a career resurgence this year. His matches have been top notch throughout 2015 and it culminated in October when he won a ladder match to claim the Traditional Title. Frankie has been impressive, defending the title numerous times throughout November and here in December. Frankie Perez will be a threat to win the 2016 RCI.

James Prudence has had an impressive year in 2015, putting together a record of 18 wins and 13 losses. Most notable was a victory in the main event at Where It All Begins Again in a match that is currently ranked as the second best match in MAW history. Prudence has been a threat since debuting for the company in May 2014. With momentum on his side heading into January, James Prudence could find himself crowned the 2016 RCI winner.

Sage: Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Uprising presented by Mid Atlantic Wrestling! I’m AJ Sage alongside my commentary partner Duke Hazzard.

Hazzard: Howdy.

Sage: We’re just a week away from our last pay per view of 2015; Night of Champions. Tensions are high all around the roster as the participants of the 2016 Rip Chord Invitational are beginning to be announced. Everyone wants a spot in the RCI.

Hazzard: Why wouldn’t they? Its arguably the most prestigious singles tournament in wrestling today!

Sage: Let’s get right into the action with our opening match of the night!

Fujita came out for this match with momentum on his side and was looking to build more. The pirate, Hugh de Aske, was looking to take a huge step forward with a victory over Fujita. Both men were focused and put on a match that had ten minutes of straight action. Hugh put up a good fight, but couldn’t get the job done. Fujita set him up with Packaged Piledriver and climbed to the top rope. He came down with the Convective Inhibition (Reverse 450) and got the pinfall victory.

After the match, Aaron Fujita asks for a microphone as the crowd cheers following his win. He waits for them to quite down and then brings the microphone to his mouth to speak. His breathing is heavy after a hard fought match.

Fujita: You know, I’ve been in almost all of the Rip Chord Invitationals since I came here full time in 2010. But I’ve never won it. I’ve been to the finals numerous times, but I’ve never gotten the job done. This year will be different. 2016 is MY year. Nobody can stop me. Nobody will get in my way. No matter who I have to face; I’ll beat them. I’m in it to win it this year. It’s my time now.

Fujita leaves it at that and drops the microphone to the canvas and exits the ring as the crowd begins chanting “Fu-Jit-A!”

Devito started the match for his team and politely requested that Lassana Makutsi would do the same. Makutsi refused and sent Cameron Vessey instead. Devito started with the advantage, but a poke to the eyes changed that after a few minutes. Referee Scott Styles admonished Vessey for the act, but the damage had been done. With Devito on the defensive, Lassana tagged himself into the match and went to work. He and Cameron worked Devito over with frequent tags, keeping him isolated from his partner. Devito was able to break free and make the hot tag at the seven minute mark, bringing Jimmy Foxx in. The match went on another two minutes until Lassana hit a low blow behind the referee’s back and went up top to hit the African Splash and pin Dominic Devito.

Haley Buck’s music hits the system and she emerges from the back. She doesn’t go any further than the top of the stage and already holds a microphone in her hand.

HB: This is exactly the type of stuff that I am here to eradicate. I’m sick of your cheating ways, Lassana. Two weeks in a row now you’ve utilized underhanded tactics to steal wins away from your opponents. I We’re going to have this match again next week, one night before your All Action Title match against Dominic. I assure the fans that Lassana and Cameron will not cheat to win; because if they do, Lassana will forfeit his title shot at Night of Champions!

The crowd cheers as Lassana begins yelling up the entrance way at Haley Buck. Devito stands in between the two on the floor and smiles up at Makutsi as Haley Buck makes her way to the back.

Heroe had a need to build momentum heading towards the RCI while Antonio was still trying to get his return to MAW on track. The two put on a solid match, but the crowd just wasn’t that into it. It was back and forth for a bit, but Heroe took control and never looked back at the five minute mark. He was able to snap Antonio over with a hurrincanrana and held his position to pick up the pinfall victory.

Once more Frankie came out to defend the Traditional Title without the belt in his possession. Kirk Jameson didn’t mind. His focus was on the opportunity at hand. He knew Perez had a lot on his plate trying to recover his championship belt and the impending RCI. He was looking to capitalize. Kirk came out with a flurry of offense and got a few near falls in the opening five minutes. Frankie began to get his foot hold at that point and surged into control of the match. As they crossed the eleven minute mark Frankie wrapped Kirk up in the P-Clutch and forced him to submit to successfully retain his title.

The crowds’ cheers following Frankie Perez’s victory turn to boos as James Prudence’s music comes across the system. A few moments pass by and James pushes through the curtain with the Traditional Title hanging from his shoulder. Frankie immediately points at Prudence and begins exiting the ring. As he reaches the floor, Prudence shouts into the microphone to stop him. His voice sounds like its filled with panic and he speaks fast.

Prudence: Stop right there! Stop Frankie! You come any closer and I swear I’ll get in my rental car, drive east to a beach and throw this belt into the ocean so you’ll never see it again! I swear I’ll do it! I should have won that match at The Proving Ground. I should be the Mid Atlantic Champion! But I lost! I’m a champion! I am! I’ve got a belt now! I had to take your belt Frankie! I had to show the world that I was a champion! They wouldn’t believe me unless I had a belt! So now I’ve got one. It was yours but now it’s mine! I’m sorry Frankie but you can’t have it back!

Frankie watches as James turns and walks back through the curtain. Frankie, along with most of the crowd, is left speechless at Prudence’s words.

Sage: Oh my. Ladies and gentlemen I think James Prudence has lost it…

Hazzard: What. A. Nut.

The shot heads backstage where a bunch of MAW wrestlers stand chatting. The Mid Atlantic Champion, Aaron Andrews, walks through the area, en route to the entrance area for the main event. From the opposite direction walks Davis Wayne Newton. The two of them spot each other and casually continue on their ways. Its inevitable; Davis Wayne Newton bumps Aaron with his shoulder, causing both men to stumble a few steps to the side. They turn to face each other as all the other wrestlers begin to surround them, sure a fight is about to break out.

DWN: Oh I’m sorry Aaron! I didn’t see you there!

Andrews: Cut the crap Davis. Your psychological games aren’t going to work on me.

DWN: I have no idea what you’re talking about. I was just heading to get a bottle of water before our tag team match. Is that a crime now?

Andrews: You can do everything you think is going to help your cause, but in eight days, nothing will change. I’m going to beat you like I did in October. Which means the Mid Atlantic Title will still be hanging over MY shoulder; not YOURS.

DWN: Whatever helps you sleep at night Aaron. In eight days time I’ll be deciding what color flowers to send to your hospital room.

Surprisingly, the two scoff at each other and separate without any physical contact. They each go their ways prior to their tag team main event match.

The main event was a fantastic match, but the crowd was still a little dead. Aaron Andrews and Zimmy Bumfhole came out together followed by separate entrances by Casey and Davis. The match started out very slow with a feeling out process between Zimmy Bumfhole and Davis Wayne Newton. The two of them traded holds for a few minutes before the action picked up in pace a bit. After a stalemate, they each tagged out to their respective partners and the process was repeated. Aaron took control of Casey Valentine and began to tag in and out with Zimmy. The match continued at a slower pace until they entered the eighteenth minute. Things started to break down, but referee Scott Styles let it go and did the best job he could. Newton came in and broke up a pinfall attempt by Zimmy Bumfhole. Aaron Andrews got back into the ring and clotheslined both himself and Newton out of the ring. Zimmy saw his opportunity and set Valentine up. Bumfhole climbed to the top and hit the Bumfhole In One to pick up the victory.

In a press release today, Haley Buck announced that the Mid Atlantic Title match between Davis Wayne Newton and Aaron Andrews has been made a thirty minute Iron Man match. Sources close to Buck have stated she has heard the two of them claim each to be the best in MAW and wants to give them the chance to prove it. She also announced that both men would be participating in matches that would “not exactly be a walk in the park” twenty four hours prior to the Night of Champions pay per view on Uprising.

In the same release, Buck also announced that Zimmy Bumfhole and Casey Valentine would indeed be stepping into the ring again to battle it out. To add an element of interest to the match, she has also decided that the winner of the match would become the number one contender to the Mid Atlantic Title and receive a shot at the 2016 Rip Chord Invitational. Some people are criticizing the decision to make the match one to determine a new number one contender, claiming that the two men have put on such outstanding performances as of late that the loser would still receive an invite to the 2016 RCI.

“That may well be true, but I remind everyone who questions my decision that that man would still have to best fifteen other men to claim the number one contendership in that event” Buck was quoted as saying.

Good show. I particularly liked Prudence's promo, it was delightfully heelish. Your writing's coming along really well, I'm enjoying it all.

I appreciate your comments man. The promo just came to me as I was writing the show. I had been planning on making Prudence seem a little crazy when he stole the belt, but wasn't sure how it would come across. Glad you liked it.

I had gotten a few e-mails from other bookers in the wrestling industry asking me why I had been giving my in-house crowd such good pre-show matches lately. I didn’t give an honest response to most of them, but why not? I know personally that of the usual 7,500 fans that pack the arena for Uprising, half of them are probably the same people every week. They deserve something special. So I decided to give them some bonus matches that weren’t on camera to reward them for being so faithful to us. I think it’s really helping us gather fans. I might eventually start releasing some of the matches as bonuses on DVDs, but with our distribution through the website right now, it’s well off into the future.

Frankie Perez & Zimmy Bumfhole vs. Casey Valentine & James Prudence

Two rivalries intertwined here. Zimmy and Frankie came out seeking wins to gain momentum heading into the PPV. Valentine and Prudence however were out with bad intentions on their minds. It was evident that they wanted to inflict damage. Prudence carried Perez’s Traditional Title in hand. Inside the ring, it was a very even bout. As they neared the twelve minute mark, Valentine caught Perez with the Deep Impact and got the pinfall victory.

Winners: Casey Valentine and James Prudence

These three guys came out and battled for a bit with the Alternative Title hanging in the balance. All in all it was a very short, but action packed match and Seth Whitehead was able to retain by making Jefferson Stardust submit to the Minnesota Stretch.

Steven Parker came out with a look of determination on his face. He looked hell bent on making a statement. When the bell rang he set out to, but Kashmir Singh was able to take control for the opening minute and a half. After that it was all Steven Parker dishing out punishment. He finally ended the match with a pinfall victory after hitting the Future Shock.

The shot heads backstage where Haley Buck sits at her desk in an office. She is thumbing through some documents when a knock comes at her door. Her sweet and soft but stern voice calls for the person to enter. Frankie Perez pushes into the frame and approaches her desk. Before she can ask what he needs, he begins speaking.

Perez: I’ve really tried to hold my tongue on a lot of things, Haley. But James Prudence has gone too far this time. I want my belt back. I don’t care if it means I have to defend it against him tomorrow night, I just want him inside that ring so I can beat the snot out of him and get my belt back.

Haley smiles as she stands up and turns the documents from her desk around so Frankie can read them. At the same time she snatches a pen from the desk as well and clicks it open before motioning it towards Frankei.

HB: I agree completely Frankie. That’s why I already had a contract drawn up that’s ready for you to sign. You’ll be defending that belt against Prudence tomorrow night at Night of Champions.

A look of joy comes over Frankie’s face, replacing the look of anger he had just moments prior. He takes the pen from her hand and scribbles his signature onto the contract. She nods to him as he straightens back up and drops a hand onto her shoulder.

Perez: Thanks Haley.

Frankie turns to leave as a disappointed look comes across the Director of Operations’ face. Frankie is already out the door by the time she speaks to the empty room.

HB: Actually it’s Ms. Buck.

For the third week in a row these four men came together in a tag team match. The two matches prior, Lassana Makutsi had cheated to win but that was not an option tonight. Makutsi and Vessey came out of the gate with the same intentions as the two weeks prior. Makutsi took the early advantage over Foxx. Foxx fought back and got his partner into the match. This was the turning point. Devito cleaned house and eventually was able to hit a Backdrop Driver on Lassana Makutsi that was enough to gain the pinfall victory.

Winners: Dominic Devito and Flying Jimmy Foxx

KC Glenn came into the match looking for a win to get himself some more attention as he headed towards the RCI. The match had some good action in it. Xavi tried his best to attack Glenn and stay on him, but KC was able to fight back and take control. That was the beginning of the end for Xavi Ferrera. Eventually Glenn caught Xavi with a Leg Capture Backdrop Driver to pick up the victory.

Winner: KC Glenn

El Heroe Mexicano vs. Davis Wayne Newton

As was announced earlier in the week, Davis Wayne Newton had his “warm-up” match here. His opponent, El Heroe Mexicano was no slouch in the ring. The two battled it out as they had many times before. The match featured some fantastic in-ring action. Newton took control early and began to wear Mexicano down, but just over five minutes in, Heroe made a comeback. He had Newton on the ropes and scored several near falls as the match progressed. Mexicano went up top looking for a high risk move, but Newton was able to roll out of the way. This shifted the momentum in Newton’s favor and he never looked back. At the fifteen minute mark Newton locked on the STF and Mexicano tapped out almost immediately.

Winner: Davis Wayne Newton

Aaron Andrews came out for his “warm-up” match. His was a bit of a bigger deal since he was defending the Mid Atlantic Title as well. Sammy Shark jumped on his opportunity and tried getting Andrews on the ropes with a flurry of offense when the bell rang. Andrews took the punishment that was dished out and began to make his comeback. It looked like Andrews was about to take control again, but Sammy surprised him with a huge tornado DDT out of nowhere that picked up a believable near fall. Shark was flustered for a moment, but went back on the attack. Aaron caught his opportunity as Shark showboated and was able to take control with a series of slams and strikes. In the end, Andrews hit the Ace Driver on Sammy Shark and picked up the victory to successfully defend his title.

Winner: Aaron Andrews
