MAW: The Struggle For Power

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I just wanted to drop in and say thank you for the interest everyone has had in this thing since I announced it's return. There have not been many replies to the thread but I have been keeping a close eye on the views and they have been rising fast. I think in the last few days the count has gone up almost two hundred views!

Anyway the review of Where It All Begins Again is coming along nicely and should be posted sometime tomorrow evening. I'm actually laying in bed on my iPod right now and have to be back at work in five hours. So after I get home after a long ten hour day I may take a dip in the pool and then will be right back to work on it.

On another note I wanted to let you know that I plan to do a fun little thing called after the show gets posted kinda like an interview. I've called if "Ask the Head Booker" where you guys will be able to send questions to my inbox that you would like to ask "Aaron Fujita" about his booking decisions. I'll post more details in a day or two though.

Robbie

This has been a cool read. MAW's always been a semi-interest as the little promotion that could, but seeing you take it to new heights has been rather interesting. Can't wait to see if Fujita abandons MAW for another fixer-upper (SWF anyone?) or manages to stick it out.

OOC: Well here she is; WIABA 2015. What I want to know from you guys is the following:

Your Favorite Match:

Your Favorite Moment:

Wrestler of the Night:

And here's what I'm thinking for the question and answer session with MAW's head booker, Aaron Fujita. PM me any questions you may have about why things were booked the way they were or anything of that nature. When you PM, please include how you want to be identified in the segment.

Without and further ado......

Aaron Fujita vs. Steven Parker

This match came about in simple fashion. In July, these two bumped into one another backstage and shared some unpleasantries. Fujita humbly apologized to Parker, to which Steven responded that it was okay, Parker was the better wrestler. The two men bickered back and forth for a few seconds and decided to wait until the end of the night to see who the better man was. Fujita went out and defeated Casey Valentine while Parker lost his match against El Heroe Mexicano. When the two men met backstage later in the show, Fujita bragged that he had won and that set Parker off. Steven attacked and had to be pulled from Aaron by MAW officials. Parker became obsessed with proving to Fujita that he was the better man. That led to new owner Enforcer Roberts setting this match up. For the opening match of the show, it set the bar high with each man controlling portions of the match. As they closed in on the fifteen minute mark Steven Parker planted Fujita with the Future Shock and picked up the victory.

Winner: Steven Parker

Mid Atlantic Alternative Title

The tension between these two finally came to a head on the biggest stage in MAW. The match was a quick paced, back and forth match-up that had the crowd going. As they closed in on the sixth minute, Seth slammed the champion with his Butterfly Powerbomb and then locked in the Minnesota Stretch; a modified Texas Cloverleaf. Edward Cornell fought the pain and agony of the submission maneuver, but finally succumbed and slapped his hand to the mat. Seth Whitehead had captured the Alternative Title.

Winner and NEW Alternative Champion: Seth Whitehead

Jared Johnson vs. Antonio

Jared Johnson came out and said he had been granted a request by MAW management to issue an open challenge. He claimed that his career had seemed to level off and a win at Where It All Begins Again would shock it back to life. Antonio answered the challenge without saying a word. He came down the entrance way and shouted at the front row fans, disgusted with them. The two men locked up and put on a nice technical wrestling match. Antonio took over after the early advantage by Johnson and began to weaken his head and neck. He had a method to his madness, dropping Jared on his head with an Italian DDT at the eight minute mark and picking up the victory.

Winner: Antonio

Kashmir Singh vs. Xavi Ferrera vs. Philippe LaGrenier

Enforcer Roberts made this match to give some of the midcard guys the platform to show non-regular fans what they could do. The three men did a decent job entertaining the crowd, but fell a little short of the three previous matches. The match was primarily contested with two men in the ring and the third elsewhere, out of the equation. Near the eight minute mark, LaGrenier was able to catch Kashmir Sing with a modified neckbreaker that was enough to earn him the victory.

Winner: Philippe LaGrenier

Kirk Jameson and Nelson Callum vs. Jefferson Stardust and Rob Reynolds

This match had only come about the night before on the first ever live edition of Uprising. Stardust and Reynolds had been seen backstage talking about finding a way to make an impact in MAW. Reynolds said he knew just the ticket and that was by assaulting Jameson and Callum individually. Kirk and Nelson promptly stormed into Enforcer Roberts office and politely demanded a match to gain a measure of revenge. Their request was granted. The match itself was much better than anyone had probably anticipated. The standard tag team match formula was followed with Reynolds and Stardust impressing the crowd by isolating Nelson Callum for the opening seven minutes. They used quick tags and double team moves to wear their opponent down until he was able to land a DDT out of desperation. Callum was finally able to make the tag to Jameson, who cleaned house. He finally had Stardust one on one and planted him with the Bullseye to get the pinfall.

Winners: Kirk Jameson and Nelson Callum

Mid Atlantic All Action Title

Hugh de Aske vs. Lassana Makutsi vs. Dominic Devito vs. Sammy Shark ©

Sammy Shark asked for the opportunity to prove he was the best All Action Champion in the short history of the belt and what he got in return was the task of defending his title against three other men in an elimination style match. The four competitors paired off with Hugh de Aske and Sammy Shark battling one another and Dominic Devito and Lassana Makutsi going toe to toe in the opening minutes. The first elimination came as they neared the six minute mark. Dominic Devito was taking it to the pirate in a serious manner. Shark and Makutsi were pre-occupied with each other on the outside of the ring. Devito lifted Hugh onto his shoulders and slammed him to the mat with a vicious powerbomb. He held on and lifted Hugh back into the before slamming him down once more. He decided to add one more for good measure which proved to be when he had gone to the well one too many times. As he reached down to hoist Hugh up again, the pirate reached up and cradled Devito into a small package. Devito’s shoulders were counted down and he was eliminated from the match. Hugh rolled to the side of the ring to catch his breath as Makutsi and Shark re-entered the ring and continued their brawl there. Neither man had been able to hold an advantage in their battle but the defending champion was beginning to take control. He took it to Makutsi, trying to wear him down with numerous pinfall attempts. Hugh de Aske re-entered the picture and in a surprise turn of events seemed to form an understanding with Makutsi. Together they wore the champion down with double team moves and it was Hugh that finally shouted the orders. He told Makutsi to climb to the top rope as he lifted Shark onto his shoulders for the Cut Throat Driver. He planted Sammy with it and then got out of the way as Lassana came off of the top rope with his moonsault variation that he called the African Splash. He made impact with the champion’s mid-section and hooked the leg. Hugh de Aske was quick to leap onto Makutsi’s back for leverage and Scott Styles counted the champion’s shoulders down to eliminate him from the match. It was down to just Hugh de Aske and Lassana Makutsi; and one of them would walk out as the NEW All Action Champion. Already tiring from the match, these two guys went another three or four minutes until Hugh was able to lift Makutsi onto his shoulders, looking for the Cut Throat Driver. Lassana slipped free and fell to his feet, quickly leaping up and connecting with an enziguri to the back of the head. With the pirate staggered, Makutsi hooked him and dropped him with an innovative variation of a reverse DDT before heading to the top rope. He faced the ring and then jumped up, spinning 180º to face the crowd. He leapt backwards and came down on Hugh’s chest with the African Splash. That proved to be enough as Scott Styles counted the three and awarded Lassana the match.

Winner and NEW All Action Champion: Lassana Makutsi

Zimmy Bumfhole

A pre-taped segment played on the Atlantic Vision screen above the entrance way. Zimmy Bumfhole talked about his upcoming match with Josh Jones. He explained that there was no beef between the two men and this was all about respect and bragging rights. He put Jones over as a tremendous wrestler and claimed he would go on to do big things in the business. He closed the segment by wishing Josh Jones luck.

Josh Jones vs. Zimmy Bumfhole

This was the first match in a set that would quickly become known as “The Fantastic Five.” The Fantastic Five were the final five matches of WIABA and produced some of the highest quality wrestling matches that anyone had seen in MAW before. Jones and Bumfhole went through a lengthy feeling out process, wanting to figure out exactly what their opponent had brought to the table that night. As one could imagine, the match became a battle of innovative, high risk moves. Zimmy showed his advantage in experience by taking control of the match as the pace began to quicken around the six minute mark. Zimmy was methodically wearing down Jones, but did hit a few bumps in the road. Jones rolled Zimmy up on at least five separate occasions, nearly pinning the former SWF tag team mainstay. Zimmy was able to get right back on the offensive each time and that eventually led to the final two minutes of the match. Jones made a recovery after a double clothesline put both men back on even playing ground. Jones tried to take Zimmy over with the Canadian Backdrop, but Bumfhole was able to escape the move. Bumfhole attempted the Bumfhole in One, but he too was unsuccessful in hitting it. The two teased the crowd, looking for their finishers. Finally Josh Jones broke free from an attempt at the Bumfhole in One, but was promptly met with a superkick to the jaw. Zimmy covered and picked up the victory.

Winner: Zimmy Bumfhole

Davis Wayne Newton

The Mid Atlantic Champion stood backstage in front of a black curtain that was covered with the MAW logo. Newton cut a promo on Aaron Andrews, stating that it was every man’s dream to hold the Mid Atlantic Title. He said some guys are lucky; some guys are just good enough to hold the belt. Davis apologized to Aaron Andrews, telling him that he was neither. Newton said tonight was all about securing his spot in the MAW legacy by retaining the title and walking out just like he walked in with gold around his waist.

Mid Atlantic Traditional Championship – Ladder Match

El Heroe Mexicano vs. Lenny Brown vs. Frankie Perez vs. Quentin Queen ©

The second match in “The Fantastic Five” made it hard to keep up with all of the action that was occurring. In the opening minutes of the match all four men tried to scamper up the ladder in search of the belt. After the initial two minutes, things slowed down ever so slightly as they all decided it was time to fight smart and gauge what each man was bringing to the table. The match was relatively short when comparing it to other ladder matches. After the first five minutes, all hell broke loose and there was action all around the ringside area. The highlights of the match included Lenny Brown planting El Heroe Mexicano with The Star Treatment from the ladder; Quentin Queen double stomping Lenny Brown through a ladder that was stretched across two steel chairs and Frankie Perez locking in a Boston Crab on Queen atop the ladder. As they approached the fifteen minute mark, Heroe had climbed all the way to the top of the ladder and make an attempt at unhooking the belt. Lenny Brown came up and began to push the ladder over. Heroe wrapped his arms around the hook that the belt was suspended from as Brown finally shoved the ladder over. Heroe dangled precariously above the ring as Lenny Brown pushed the ladder over and began stalking the masked man. Heroe dropped from the hook and snapped Brown over with a hurrincanrana that sent both men spilling to the outside of the ring. They continued to brawl up the entrance way as Quentin Queen and Frankie Perez battled it out inside the ring. Perez and Queen traded blows until Frankie reached out and landed a sickening unprotected headbutt that reverberated off the arena walls. Back on the stage, Lenny Brown had taken control of Heroe and was looking to the side of the stage with an evil look in his eyes. He lifted the masked man onto his shoulders and ran towards the edge, leaping off and landing a sitout powerbomb through a collection of sound equipment tables. Back inside the ring, Frankie had taken the opportunity to climb a ladder set up underneath the belt. As he slowly crawled upwards, Quentin Queen followed him up on the other side. The two reached the top simultaneously and began to exchange strikes atop the ladder. Queen looked to have the advantage as he hit consecutive right hands and reached up for the belt. Frankie recovered and grabbed a handful of Queen’s hair, slamming his face into the top of the ladder. Queen lost his balance and fell from the ladder but landed on his feet. Out of pure instinct he hit the ropes and came back, giving the ladder a big shove out from under Perez. Frankie latched onto the hook and dangled above the ring much like Heroe had done previously. This time though he used his upper body strength to reach up and unhook the title belt before falling ten feet to the mat below as the new Traditional Champion.

Aaron Andrews vs. Davis Wayne Newton ©

These two men had waited long enough. They waived their right to main event the biggest show of the year just to get their hands on one another sooner. The fans were solidly behind Aaron Andrews in this one, breaking into a deafening “Let’s go Aaron!” chant. Not to be outdone, the portion of the audience that looked past DWN’s shady attitude and saw the wrestling skills he possessed started their own “Let’s go Davis!” The dueling chant started at the ring of the bell and continued non-stop through the first seven or eight minutes of the match. That seven or eight minutes was a full blown clinic in “Mat Wrestling 101.” The two men transitioned from one submission move that was intended to wear their opponents down to the next. Neither man found himself locked in a hold for longer than ten seconds. After separating eight or ten times, the two decided they had figured each other out. The pace slowly began to escalate. The first step was a series of hip tosses, arm drags and throws that led to three stand offs. The crowd knew the two men were evenly matched and that only inched them closer to the edge of their seats. Newton had finally had enough as they crossed the twelfth minute and blasted Andrews with a double axe handle into the corner. Newton became relentless, taking it to Andrews over the next five minutes. Aaron began to show small flashes of offense, but it was never enough to swing momentum in his favor. Newton was dismantling his challenger and physically wearing him down with numerous pinfall attempts. Newton was also pushing his luck and stretching the rules as far as he could without breaking them. MAW Official Scott Styles admonished him a few times, but that only worked to fire Newton up more. No matter what he did, Newton was unable to break the spirit of Aaron Andrews. Finally as they entered the twentieth minute, Andrews caught his opportunity and pounced.

Newton felt he was in complete control and tried to show off for the crowd, holding Andrews up in the air for a delayed vertical suplex to show off his strength. Andrews wiggled free and fell back to his feet in front of Newton. With what should have been the last ounce of energy he had he landed a boot to the stomach and planted Newton’s head in the mat with an implant DDT. The two men lay motionless on the mat as the standing ten count was administered. Newton was first to his feet at eight followed by Andrews at nine. Newton fired a right hand but Andrews blocked it and landed one of his own. Newton fired another, which too was blocked. Andrews landed three right hands and then chopped Davis, backing him into the corner. Andrews was making his comeback. He got in a flurry of offense over the next two minutes and was able to land a brainbuster that garnered him a believable near fall. Aaron knew it was time and attempted to drop Davis on his head with the Ace Driver, but Newton wiggled free and landed a boot to the stomach. Davis hooked Aaron’s head and neck and hit his Fisherman’s Suplex finisher as the crowd erupted in a chorus of boos. Scott Styles slid in for the count and was in awe as his hand slapped the mat twice and stopped just shy of a third time when Aaron Andrews lifted his shoulder. The crowd went nuts as Newton argued with the referee. Andrews began to get to his feet, but Newton was right there to meet him with a few right hands. In a scene similar to the one displayed in the finals of the RCI, Newton dragged Andrews to the center of the ring and locked in the STF. Andrews yelled in pain as Newton wrenched back on the hold and tried to hold his ground as Andrews tried to inch his way to the ropes. After nearly a minute in the hold, Andrews reached out and latched onto the bottom rope to break the hold. Newton was sure to hold on to the submission until the count of 4 before grabbing Aaron’s leg and dragging him back to the center of the ring. The champ tried to apply the hold again, but Andrews tripped him up and turned the tables, latching DWN in his own submission move. The crowd was begging for Newton to tap out, but he was able to inch to the ropes and break the hold. Aaron lifted his foe to a vertical stance, but was pushed away and blasted with a right hand. Newton backed his challenger to the center of the ring with punch after punch. He fired a clothesline that Aaron ducked. Andrews latched onto Newton’s arms in a half Tiger, half Dragon suplex variation. He lifted Davis up and over, dumping him so high on his head and neck and the rolled back up to his feet. Newton was clearly dazed and Andrews capitalized, hooking his head and driving Newton’s head to the mat with the Ace Driver. Andrews hooked the leg and received the three count to capture the Mid Atlantic Championship.

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/KC%20Glenn.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/vs.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/Casey%20Valentine.jpg

KC Glenn vs. Casey Valentine

In a match that had been dubbed “The Battle of the Kay-Cees” these two men went out with a huge task ahead of them; top the last match. Some thought it was impossible, but it wasn’t. There was no feeling out process at all as the two men went straight into fast paced action. KC Glenn gained the early advantage with a series of arm drags, hip tosses and throws. Casey got the hell out of Dodge and tried to take a breather on the outside, but Glenn would have nothing of it. KC charged at the ropes and landed a dive to the outside that drove Valentine’s back into the steel guardrail. Glenn controlled the next five minutes of the match, wearing Valentine down with impact moves, strikes and the occasional submission move. As they crossed into the tenth minute of the contest, Casey caught Glenn by surprise by ducking a clothesline attempt and hitting one of his own as he came off the ropes. Valentine took the chance to catch his breath and moved in to take control of Glenn. Valentine reminded everyone just why he had held the Mid Atlantic Title for three and a half years as he picked Glenn apart much like a hyena would clean the carcass of a dead wildebeest. Glenn was able to stay in the fight and land a few strikes here and there to keep Valentine from dominating the match. They neared fifteen minutes and Casey knew it was time to put Glenn away. He lifted KC onto his shoulders for the Deep Impact, but KC fought free and landed on his feet. Valentine fired a superkick that Glenn ducked. As KC turned back around Valentine fired another, but this time Glenn caught his foot before it made contact and shook his head. He spun Valentine around 180 degrees and latched onto his head and one leg, dumping him over on his head with his Leg Capture Backdrop Driver finisher. KC Glenn hooked Valentine’s leg and picked up the victory in the semi-main event.

Winner: KC Glenn

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Darryl%20Devine.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/vs.jpghttp://www.clabobby.com/maw/James%20Prudence.jpg

Darryl Devine vs. James Prudence

These two men had been at each other’s throats for the majority of the year. Prudence began harping on Devine for leaving USPW and SWF to come to MAW. Prudence heckled Darryl and said that he would never amount to anything. Finally after months of hearing Prudence bring up the same thing over and over, Devine attacked James backstage. Prudence was livid and looked for retribution immediately. MAW management told them they’d have to save it for WIABA and threatened to suspend either man if they came into contact, physical or verbal, with one another. Prudence’s plan was clear; keep Darryl Devine out of the air. At the same time Darryl Devine had an obvious game plan of his own; keep the match off of the mat. Darryl’s high flying was pitted against Prudence’s superior technical skills and it was a styles clash for sure. Each man saw the match head in the direction they wanted it to with Devine holding control of the match when he was able to take to the air. Prudence made his comeback by getting his knees up for an attempted frog splash attempt from Devine. With Devine’s ribs now possibly broken, Prudence went to work and locked an abdominal stretch on. That would be the basis of the next six minutes; Prudence stretching out Devine’s abs and chest. Devine wouldn’t quit and would be able to escape the hold by landing a few elbows to the side of the head. Devine crawled to the top rope and came down on Prudence with a dropkick. Devine was running on adrenaline as he fought back and used the top rope as his friend. He scoop slammed Prudence to set him up for a move from the top rope. James got to his feet quickly and followed Devine up to stop him. Devine shoved Prudence back down and tried to steady himself for more offense from the highest point in a wrestling ring. Prudence came charging back and nimbly scaled the ropes to land an enziguri that rocked Devine. James went right back to the top rope and hooked Darryl’s head and arm. He lifted up and planted Devine with a brainbuster from the top rope. Prudence hooked the leg and heard Scott Styles hand slap the mat three times before the bell rang.

Winner: James Prudence

Thanks for your comments! Yeah the matches were really detailed. I still haven't decided how I'm going to handle wrote ups from here on out but I just felt as my first show back I thought it deserved to be detailed.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I've got the first post updated to mirror the current state of the game. If you look there, you'll find an up to date roster so you can check to see exactly how the pushes are sorted out. All the title histories are there for reference and I'm updating it with new content constantly. Please check it out! With that said, I'm going to take the next day or so to sort out my thoughts and come up with a concrete plan for the next year of gametime. Once I do that, the real fun begins. Hopefully the first post WIABA edition of Uprising will be up tomorrow before I have to go into work.

Also remember that I am looking for my readers to send me questions so I can do a little off-shoot, mock interview with MAW's head booker. If you have any questions, real or made up, about a decision that was made, a match or angle that was booked, a situation that has arisen, please send me a PM with the name you would like to go by and your question. This will be a segment that Fujita talks about the behind the scenes stuff in MAW.

The crowd is buzzing as the video package ends and ring announcer Clare South welcomes everyone to Uprising.

Clare: Ladies and gentlemen please welcome the NEW Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion; AAAAAAAROOOOOOOOOON ANNNNNNDDDDDDRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEWSSSSSS!

The crowd explodes as Andrews’ music hits the system and he emerges from the back clad in jeans and a button down shirt. The Mid Atlantic Title is draped over his shoulder as he makes his way down the entranceway with a big smile on his face. He makes one lap around the ring, giving high fives to all the front row fans and then climbs into the ring after grabbing a microphone. He stands in the middle of the ring and lifts the microphone to speak, but a very loud “Aaron Andrews” chant breaks out. He waits about fifteen seconds for the chant to die down and smiles as he begins to talk.

Andrews: You know ever since I started in this business I had this unbelievable hype I had to live up to. TCW had promoted the hell out of me while I was still in development and told everyone I was the next big star. I had the “holy trinity” of skills needed to make a star in this business. But no matter how hard I worked, I never seemed to break out as a true star. I tried in TCW and then SWF, but I finally found my home right here in MAW!

The crowd explodes as Aaron smiles and lifts the Mid Atlantic Title into the air. A short lived “MAW” chant breaks out and Aaron speaks again.

Andrews: Winning the Mid Atlantic Title is something that every man in the business dreams of. Whether he’s just starting out in a local company or main eventing pay per views for TCW, every man wants to hold this belt.

Suddenly, Steven Parker’s music hits the system and he pushes through the curtain to the boos of the crowd.

Sage: Leave it to Steven Parker to spoil the moment!

Hazzard: What do you think he’s got on his mind A.J.?

Sage: I’m not sure, but I bet we’re going to find out! He just got a microphone from ringside and is climbing inside the ring as we speak!

Parker stands a few feet from Andrews and looks at him and then to the title belt over his shoulder.

Parker: Well Aaron, allow me to be the first to congratulate you on your title victory. But let’s get down to business. You’re out here talking about what an amazing feeling it is to win the Mid Atlantic Title and the desire that everyone holds for it. I can speak from experience. I’ve won it. It was a great thing. And now I want to do it again. I won that title belt back in 2006 before Maw was even on the maps. I was a pioneer in this company and after my big win last Sunday I want a shot at that title.

Sage: Parker isn’t lying. He is a former Mid Atlantic Champion.

Hazzard: And he was an original member of the MAW roster.

The crowd boos momentarily until the music of KC Glenn hits. Glenn pushes through the curtain and comes to the ring with a microphone in hand. He climbs into the ring and the three men stand around each other as the crowd buzzes.

Sage: And now KC Glenn is out here!

Glenn: Fellas. Now I respect where you come from Steven. You were a staple of this company. Nine years ago. And Aaron, you’ve done well for yourself here in MAW. But now that you’re the top dog, you’ve got a target the size of Texas on your back. I won a big match myself at Where It All Begins Again and I think I deserve a shot at your title.

Hazzard: Glenn did defeat Casey Valentine, a former champion, in an amazing match!

Aaron Andrews goes to speak, but is promptly interrupted by the music of James Prudence. The crowd boos loudly as Prudence saunters from the back with a smirk on his face.

Sage: Now here’s James Prudence! Aaron Andrews has drawn a lot of attention after his title victory!

Prudence climbs into the ring and stands amongst the other three men with a microphone in his hand.

Prudence: Looks like we’ve got a problem here. It seems like everyone wants a shot at your title. But let me interject myself here and remind all of you that while you might have picked up big wins last weekend, only one of us picked up the biggest; ME. I beat Darryl Devine in the main event! I won a match that has gone into the history books as one of if not the greatest MAW match of all time! So while KC and Steven here think they are deserving of the shot, I think its obvious that I’m the guy that gets the next shot at your title.

The crowd boos loudly.

Sage: Well what a situation! Three men are all claiming to be the number one contender!

Andrews: Wow. I knew I was going to draw a lot of competition, but I never expected three men in one night. You know what; all three of you have valid points. I’m stumped. Personally I’d like to beat all three of you to retain my title.

Just then, the Mid Atlantic Vision screen lights up. MAW Owner Enforcer Roberts appears.

Enforcer Roberts: Boys. Let’s cool our jets down there. I’ve been made aware of the situation and while it would be entertaining to see you defend your belt against all three of these guys, I can’t let that happen, Aaron. That’s too much of a risk for the Mid Atlantic Champion. So what we’re going to do is have a series of matches between KC Glenn, James Prudence and Steven Parker. Whomever emerges with the most victories will earn the right to challenge Aaron Andrews for the title at Proving Ground at the end of the month. So tonight we’ll see the first of those matches in the main event as KC Glenn takes on James Prudence!

Sage: Huge announcement by the MAW owner!

Hazzard: That should be a helluva match A.J.!

Lassana Makutsi stayed at ringside following his defense to scout his next challenger. Devito took control early in the match and was wearing down the pirate. Devito controlled most of the match until he went up top, looking for a back senton. Hugh got his knees up and that was the only opening he needed. He was able to lift Dominic onto his shoulders and drive him to the mat with the Cut Throat Driver to pick up the victory and become the number one contender to the All Action Championship. El Heroe Mexicano vs. Zimmy Bumfhole

This was just a fun match all around as these two fan favorites had a match filled with great action, but lacked full crowd participation. The two did some good solid chain wrestling to open the contest and then transitioned into high flying offense. Heroe almost won the match with a hurrincanrana out of nowhere, but Zimmy kicked out just in the nick of time. Zimmy took control at that point and hit the Bumfhole in One to pick up the pinfall victory.

Kirk Jameson vs. Davis Wayne Newton

These two filled their match-up with great action but the crowd showed average participation. Kirk knew it was his chance to break out. A win over the man who had only recently lost the Mid Atlantic Title would do big things for him. Kirk came out of the gate hot, but Newton was able to stop him every time he started to gain momentum. Jameson never gave up and was able to land a few high impact moves to weaken Newton before locking on the Kirk-Hold. Newton fought the submission move and got to the ropes to break the hold. Kirk tried to continue his control of the match, but Newton quickly began to target Jameson’s head and neck. Before long Newton had caught Kirk in the STF. Jameson held on for as long as he could but had no choice but to submit.

Winner: Davis Wayne Newton

KC Glenn vs. James Prudence

Aaron Andrews and Steven Parker both came down to the ring to scout KC and James. Andrews joined A.J. Sage and Duke Hazzard at the commentary table while Parker simply sat on the stage and watched intently. Prudence took the early advantage, blasting Glenn with some stiff strikes. He immediately began to target Glenn’s back. Glenn never gave up and was able to kick out of everything Prudence was sending his way. As they crossed the ten minute mark, they caught one another with a double clothesline that put both men down. As they got to their feet, Glenn caught Prudence with some stiff strikes and then hit a superkick to the jaw. The fans thought he had the match won, but James kicked out at the last second. Glenn picked him up and tried to hit Prudence with the Leg Capture Backdrop Driver, but James wiggled free and tried to hook Glenn for a Brainbuster. Glenn escaped and quickly snatched James up and drove him to the mat with the Leg Capture Backdrop Driver to pick up the victory.

Winner: KC Glenn

James Prudence was not brought in for this show, but he wanted to make sure we all had a good time. Ten minutes after the show had concluded, we received a delivery from a local liquor store. James had ordered up a few kegs and some of the hard stuff so we could celebrate another successful "away from home" show.

“I just don’t see why we have to bring somebody in for that.” Phil Roberts said between bites of his sandwich.

I had asked Phil to meet me for lunch at the Subway just down the road from The Mid Atlantic Center so we could discuss something I felt needed to be addressed. Phil agreed to take a personal day from SWF and make the day trip down to meet me in MAW’s hometown of Aberdeen, North Carolina. The first five or so minutes of our lunch were quiet, but I finally piped up and let him know what I was thinking.

“No disrespect, Phil, but you’re sub-par on the microphone; and that’s being generous.” I said. “As much as I hate to say it, the thing to do in wrestling these days is have somebody who acts as your authority figure. You need somebody that the fans can see. That obviously can’t be me because I think the fans would resent me for it.”

Phil didn’t take too well to my slight jab at him and I could tell. He tried to slide a glare in without me noticing but it failed. When Phil Roberts came in and bought the company from Rip, I felt slighted. Rip explained to me that having an established veteran of the business as the owner would be better for the promotion and I couldn’t argue that. But Rip and I had begun to share a bond that was more than just boss and employee in the five years I had been employed full time here. I felt cheated so to speak and that led to myself and Phil getting off on the wrong foot.

“I can be that guy, Aaron.” Phil said before he took another bite of the sub. “I can make on screen appearances when I’ve got my days off from the Fed and continue to do my Road Agent work via video conference.”

That was another thing that never sat well with me. I was under the impression that Phil would be leaving Jerry Eisen’s empire entirely to come run MAW. Instead he had remained on as a Road Agent there as well and was only making it down to our shows when he could. If he cared so much about our product, he’d be with us every step of the way.

“Listen, Phil, I’d have no problem writing you into that roll; if you were good on the stick.” Again he fired a glare at me. Except this time he never tried to hide it. “I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. You’ve got plenty that you were known for, but talking just wasn’t it.”

I knew convincing him of this would be like pulling teeth. But I knew I could turn him onto the idea. I was so confident that I had already come to a verbal agreement on terms for a written contract with the woman that would take the roll. I couldn’t let myself down now.

“I guess they would need to be seen every show.” He said. “I can’t do that though. So who did you have in mind?”

I just smirked as I took a bite of my sandwich. Phil sat across the table and waited for my answer. I made sure to chew my food to a fine mush before swallowing so he was kept waiting as long as possible.

“You’ll just have to see the memo in the morning.” I said with a grin.

We were both about done with our sandwiches and though I had another piece of business I wanted to discuss the time just didn’t seem right. It was too soon.

I wanted MAW. My money was invested in the company and while I still had plenty to keep me and Clare living comfortably for a long, long time to come, it was still my money that had enlarged MAW’s bank accounts. It was my money that had paid for the three buildings we had built over the years. In my heart, MAW was mine but I want to make it official.

So the struggle for power began.

Uprising Preview

Last week on the first post-Where It All Begins Again episode of Uprising, three challengers emerged looking for a shot at Aaron Andrews’ Mid Atlantic Title. The three men were put into a series of matches to determine who would get the title shot at The Proving Ground. KC Glenn picked up the victory in the main event last week against James Prudence. This week Glenn will be in action again, facing Steven Parker in match number two. Will Glenn take the lead with a second straight victory over Parker? Or will Steven be able to even the series up?

Also on tap for Uprising will be a special statement from MAW Owner Phil Roberts. Many rumors are circulating around what the boss has to say, but many believe it has to do with a new signing.

Also scheduled: Lassana Makutsi will defend the All Action Title, Seth Whitehead will defend the Alternative Title and Frankie Perez will issue an open challenge for his Traditional Title. Also scheduled to appear are Aaron Fujita, Aaron Andrews, Lenny Brown, Sammy Shark and many more of your favorite MAW stars!

<strong>Dominic Devito vs. Lassana Makutsi ©</strong></p><p>

These two put on a good show for the crowd. Makutsi took control early and held it for a few minutes. Finally, Devito was able to get in a few successive moves and move into control. He had the champion reeling for the next stage of the match, able to hit a few high impact moves that got some near falls. As they crossed into the eighth minute, Devito attempted a powerbomb but Makutsi fought it off and snapped Dominic over with a hurrincanrana. Makutsi went to the top rope and hit the African Splash to pick up the victory.</p><p>

<strong>Hugh de Aske</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After the match, Hugh de Aske comes out onto the stage with a microphone in hand. He lets the crowd settle down a bit and then speaks.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hugh: Ahoy! Lassana. Nice job beatin' one half o' t' team that defeated you last night. Now why don’t you step into t' rin' with t' other half; me? I want a shot at your title t' put it simply. Give me a non-title match next week and if I beat you, I want me shot at T' Provin' Ground.</strong></p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Frankie%20Perez.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Frankie Perez</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After the ringside area is clear, Frankie Perez comes through the curtain to a nice ovation. He pushes down the entrance way and stepping into the ring. The Traditional Title hangs from his shoulder. Frankie asks for a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Frankie: I know it’s only been about two weeks since I won the Traditional Title, but it’s eating me up inside to know that I still haven’t defended it. It’s my duty as champion to give you fans everything I have and I just haven’t done that. So I’m here tonight to issue an open challenge to whomever wants it. Tonight the title shot is free, boys, so come and get it.</strong></p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/63.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Frankie Perez waits in the ring for somebody to answer his challenge. The crowd begins to shout and boo loudly as a figure runs through the crowd and hops the guardrail. Frankie doesn’t see him and is blindsided from behind. The beatdown continues from the man in jeans and a t-shirt. Frankie receives boots while he is down. Finally the man breaks off and looks up to the crowd revealing himself as he asks for a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Casey%20Valentine.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Casey Valentine</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Casey picks up the Traditional Title and stares at it before leaning down towards Frankie’s motionless body.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Casey: Consider your challenge to be accepted. But not tonight. I’m Casey Valentine and I deserve to be put into matches of the highest caliber. So your challenge has been accepted, but it’s going to happen in two weeks on pay per view. You’re on notice pal.</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Casey raises the belt above his head, to the displeasure of the crowd, Valentine soaks it in and drops the belt onto Frankie Perez before climbing out of the ring as the show goes to commercial break.</p><p>

<strong>Josh Jones vs. Darryl Devine</strong></p><p>

Back from the break, these two put on a great match that was completely even throughout. Neither man ever gained an advantage for more than a few moments. As they closed in on the ten minute mark, Josh Jones was able to catch Devine with the Canadian Backdrop and pick up the victory.</p><p>

<strong>Winner: Josh Jones</strong></p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Davis%20Wayne%20Newton.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Davis Wayne Newton</strong></p><p>

The music of Davis Wayne Newton hits the system and the crowd boos as the former Mid Atlantic Champion pushes through the curtain with a microphone in hand. Davis saunters to the ring and climbs in as Darryl Devine and Josh Jones exit the ring.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>DWN: Josh, I’d like you to stay please.</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Jones stops short of hopping off of the apron and re-enters the ring opposite where Davis is climbing in. Josh is still trying to catch his breath as Davis approaches him and speaks again.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>DWN: There’s no need to worry, Josh. I’m not here to attack you. I’m here to tell you that I’ve been watching you. You’ve been putting on some great performances and turning a lot of heads. Well to be honest, you have my attention. While I’m not here to cheap shot you and beat you down after your match, I am here to tell you that you’re on your way to the top. But to get there you’re going to have to prove yourself against some of the best that MAW has to offer. Like me. So I’m out here to challenge you to a match at The Proving Ground. You may be on your way to the top, but you’re just not ready yet. I’ll prove that when I beat you.</strong></p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/72.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/AJ%20Sage.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>A.J. Sage</strong></p><p> </p><p>

As Davis and Jones take their separate routes to the back, announcer A.J. Sage stands from the announce table and speaks into a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sage: Ladies and gentlemen, at this time I have been given a statement from MAW owner Phil “Enforcer” Roberts. Mr. Roberts could not be in attendance tonight, but still wants to address a situation that has arisen. The statement says “MAW fans, I apologize for not making this announcement myself, but other obligations have not allowed me to attend tonight’s show. Many questions have come up since I purchased MAW a little over a month ago. In my opinion it seems as though too much of our talent is running amuck, doing what they want when they want and getting any match they desire. Because of other commitments in the wrestling business keeping me from attending every MAW show, I feel it is my duty to appoint a person to step in as a bit of an authority at the shows. I have created a new position on the company, Director of Operations, and promptly hired somebody who should have no problem succeeding in their new position. This person will be at next week’s episode of Uprising to address a few issues that have already come about. Thank you all and enjoy the rest of the show.”</strong></p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/72.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Aaron%20Fujita.jpg</span><span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/vs.jpg</span><span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Lenny%20Brown.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Aaron Fujita vs. Lenny Brown</strong></p><p>

Aaron and Lenny had a fantastic bout here that the crowd should have been more into. Aaron took the early advantage with a series of arm drags, hip tosses and other throws that eventually landed Brown outside the ring for a breather. He didn’t even get the chance as Fujita hit the ropes and came over the top rope with a tope that caught Brown. Fujita sent Lenny back into the ring, but was quickly caught with a series of strikes as he re-entered the ring. Lenny took control there and began to dismantle Fujita. Brown worked him over with suplex variations but was only ever able to get two counts. Lenny fought off spurts of offense from Fujita, remaining relatively unharmed. As they crossed into the tenth minute, Fujita slipped out of a suplex attempt and landed behind Brown. Lenny didn’t have time to turn as Aaron leapfrogged over him and leveled him with a vicious lariat. Both men were down, causing referee Scot Styles to begin his standing ten count. He got to eight when both men got to their feet and came together in the center of the ring. They exchanged blows until Fujita is able to duck a clothesline attempt and take Lenny over with a backdrop driver. That was the beginning of the end as Aaron quickly lifted Lenny up and hit a packaged piledriver before climbing to the top rope. Aaron came down with his reverse 450 splash to pick up the victory.</p><p>

<strong>Winner: Aaron Fujita</strong></p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/77.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Aaron Fujita is perched on the second rope celebrating his victory when a groggy Lenny Brown approaches him from behind and powerbombs him to the ground. The crowd boos loudly as a look of intensity comes over Brown’s face as he picks Fujita back up. Brown lifts Fujita up and drops him down on his head with a brainbuster. Scott Styles tries to intervene but Lenny Brown shoves him back and goes for one more shot on Fujita. Lenny hoists Aaron onto his shoulders and then pushes him into the air before finishing it off with an Ace Crusher. After hitting The Star Treatment, Brown is satisfied and allows a devilish smirk to come across his face as he stands over the motionless body of Aaron Fujita. The show fades to commercial.</p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/60.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://www.clabobby.com/maw/Aaron%20Andrews.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Aaron Andrews</strong></p><p>

Back from commercial, the music of the Mid Atlantic Champion hitting the system. The crowd cheers as Aaron Andrews pushes through the curtain and makes his way to the ringside area to join A.J. Sage and Duke Hazzard at the announce table.</p><p>

<strong>KC Glenn vs. Steven Parker</strong></p><p>

The crowd showed some interest, but this match was filled with good action. Glenn picked up right where he left off last week with Steven Parker and took control early. He held it for most of the match up until they crossed into the seven minute mark. Parker finally took control when he was able to distract MAW Official Scott Styles and land a low blow. Steven began to take it to KC Glenn. He almost had Glenn down a number of times, but KC just wouldn’t give up. Glenn began to make a comeback and was looking for Tune Up The Sunshine Band, but Parker was able to escape and land the Future Shock to pick up the victory.</p><p>

<strong>Winner: Steven Parker</strong></p><p>

First off allow me to apologize for how long it took me to get Uprising up. I was really busy with work and just didn't quite have the time to dedicate to it. Now, the next couple of days are going to be sketchy as well as I'm officially sick with a throat infection and don't feel like doing much more that sitting or laying around when I'm not working. I hope I'm better by Friday because that's when I start two weeks worth of vacation and hope to do some serious damage to this story :-)

Thanks to you all for continuing to view the thread and keep up with my story!

I'm still looking for questions from my readers for the "Ask the Head Booker" interview I'd like to do. It's going to be behind the scenes and can be about anything. Why I booked a match the way I did and stuff like that. Please inbox me your question and the name you want to go under in the interview.

Next, I'm back healthwise and ready to attack this thing again. We've got EVOLVE coming up as the next show, followed by Uprising and another week of shows before The Proving Ground on PPV!

After the last Uprising taping had been completed, I was sitting in my office with Clare when Scott Styles came in. He politely asked if it would be possible to hire a couple of new referees now that we were running more shows. I couldn’t blame the guy; we had had him as our only official for nearly a year and a half and he hadn’t complained once. I told him I’d make some calls first thing in the morning and I did. After three days of playing phone tag with R.M. Stones, we finally made a pay per appearance agreement to bring him on. I was still waiting for a call back from Shane Stones to expand our number of officials to three.

I also called A.J. Sage in for a meeting later that week. He had always been a fanatic of web design and I asked him to design us a whole new website, with an extra $500 on his next paycheck. He was more than happy to. He was even more excited when I asked him to be in charge of the content. He immediately shot me ideas for columns and content, which I explained to him, was his decision. He left the meeting ecstatic.

------------------------------------------------

Before EVOLVE started I had to take care of an incident that arose between Aaron Andrews and Syd Collier. Aaron spent the first few hours before the show spreading a rumor about Syd Collier, saying he was about to be released from his contract. Syd finally caught wind of the rumor and came to me directly. I assured him there was no possibility of that happening and set out to get to the bottom of things. Once I traced the origin to Aaron, I pulled him aside and told him he couldn’t be doing things like that. He was one of our top guys and the younger guys on the roster looked up to him. He responded well enough, saying he’d try to not let it happen again.

MAW EVOLVE 11

Live from The Asylum (Great Lakes)

Attendance: 1000 (SELL OUT)

MAW rolled into the Great Lakes to hold the eleventh edition of EVOLVE at The Asylum. Advance tickets went on sale at the previous month’s event and were sold out two weeks in advance. So the stars of MAW performed in front of another sold out crowd. This month, MAW brought a smaller version of the Mid Atlantic Vision on the road with them for the set-up and it lit up to open the show with MAW’s signature video package.

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/68.jpg

Davis Wayne Newton made his way to the ring to a mixed reaction and got on the microphone. He said he even though the inbred crowd at The Asylum didn’t deserve it, he wanted to give them a main event they would remember. So he challenged Josh Jones to find himself a tag team partner and Newton would do the same. Jones came out and simply said “Yes.” So the main event was set. Kind of.

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/69.jpg

In the first match of the night, Aaron Fujita faced Cameron Vessey. These two put on a better than average match, but the crowd was still warming up to Cameron Vessey. Fujita controlled the majority of the match and eventually picked up the win in nine and a half minutes with the QG Theory.

Winner: Aaron Fujita

http://www.clabobby.com/maw/77.jpg

Next up El Generico took on Syd Collier. The crowd basically crapped on the match because it was between two guys not seen as big names. These guys did an alright job in the time they had and El Generico defeated Collier in five minutes after hitting the Half and Half Suplex.

Winner: El Generico

Remmy Honeyman got a shot at the Alternative Title in the next bout as Seth Whitehead defended. These two youngsters put on a good show and the crowd reacted okay to them. In just over five and a half minutes, Seth Whitehead forced Remmy to submit to the Minnesota Stretch and made the fourth successful defense of the Alternative Title.

Winner: Seth Whitehead

The next match on the card saw Dominic Devito against Andrew Taylor. There wasn’t much to this match at all except Devito methodically dismantling Taylor. Dominic picked up the pinfall victory in just under five minutes after hitting the Dom Driver.

Winner: Dominic Devito

Lassana Makutsi put the All Action Title on the line next against Edward Cornell. Edward showed some flashes of in-ring genius and at times paralleled the likes of his cousin Tommy. However Makutsi proved why he has won two major singles titles in MAW when he took control and never looked back. In just under seven minutes Makutsi hit the African Splash and pinned Cornell to make defense number three of the All Action Title.

Winner: Lassana Makutsi

Hugh de Aske battled Antonio in the next contest. Both men showed some good chain wrestling skills at the beginning of the bout, but the crowd never got fully into the match. The action itself was good and really showed what the guys floating around the middle of the pack on MAW’s roster were made of. In eleven and a half minutes, Hugh picked up the victory by pinfall with the Cut-Throat Driver.

Winner: Hugh de Aske

Aaron Andrews came to the ring to a huge ovation and looked ready to defend his Mid Atlantic Title. The man that would receive the shot tonight was MAW mainstay, Jefferson Stardust. Lisa Bowen escorted Stardust to the ring as she had for numerous years. Stardust put up a hell of a fight, but the Mid Atlantic Champion prevailed in just over ten and a half minutes when he hit the Ace Driver and pinned Stardust to make defense number four of MAW’s grandest prize.

Winner: Aaron Andrews

It was now time for the main event. Davis Wayne Newton made his way to the ring and introduced his partner for the night, Lenny Brown. The two of them went over their strategy in the ring as Josh Jones made his entrance and stopped at the bottom of the entrance way. Newton taunted him and kept asking who Jones had convinced to help him in this match. Jones just smiled as Zimmy Bumfhole’s music hit the system and he came out to a huge ovation. The match got underway and was nothing shy of spectacular. The crowd was hot from beginning to end. In terms of action, this match was top notch. Newton and Brown isolated Zimmy from Jones early on in the contest using frequent tags to keep the fresh man in and on the attack. As they encroached the twelve minute mark, Zimmy was finally able to land a clothesline on Brown that resulted in both men on the mat trying to catch their breath. Both men made the tags to their partners and Josh Jones came in a house of fire. The crowd ate up every second as the tables turned when Jones and Bumfhole took control and isolated Brown from his corner. They approached twenty minutes when the match broke down and Bumfhole and Newton began brawling on the outside. Back in the ring, Jones was able to hit the Southern Backdrop on Lenny Brown and pick up the pinfall to secure victory for his team.

Winners: Josh Jones and Zimmy Bumfhole

MAW Uprising Preview

The series of matches to determine the man to challenge Aaron Andrews at The Proving Ground for the Mid Atlantic Title is heating up. KC Glenn and Steven Parker are both tied for the lead at one win a piece. Parker is the only man that can still mathematically win the series and move on to face Andrews. This week James Prudence stands in his way. When the two collide in the main event, who will come out victorious?

Last week MAW Owner Phil Roberts issued a statement via A.J. Sage that said MAW had hired a new Director of Operations. Roberts has given the holder of this position full administrative power in the day to day operations of Mid Atlantic Wrestling. This person has promised to be at Uprising this week. Who will come into MAW and take control?

First off, I wanted to say that the predictions contest is going to be starting up again. We'll do the rest of the year as warm-ups and then starting with the first edition of Uprising in 2016, we'll start the contest for the game year. Again the prize for winning the contest is the opportunity to book the main event of Fan Fest.

My next order of business is a little inquiry. I revived this thing about three weeks ago and I've been asking for your guys thoughts on stuff and for people to send questions for an interview I'd like to write. Yet there are no responses. I did get two people in for predictions on this episode of Uprising, but still people haven't been responding, posting their opinions and the such. I'm happy that my view counts are still going up, meaning that people are reading the story but I'd like to hear from you guys. What can I do to make you guys want to be more involved? What needs to happen to get people responding to the shows with their thoughts and stuff like that? There are threads all over the dynasty forum that get responses as well as views and I'd like to be one of them. Let me know what I can do to get you guys more interested and involved.

show looked great

I'm glad you liked it! I hope you like where I take things in the next few months of game time.

I love the editor that crayon came up with. I decided I'd give it a shot with this show. I'm really glad you like the speech bubbles. I was worried that they wouldn't come across well. The only hard thing about the editor to make the show format like that is the urge for me to press enter when I type in the address for an image. Doing that clears out the whole page and you can't recover it. I had to start from scratch five or six times with that edition of Uprising.
