The in-depth description is something I love to do as a writer; as it creates the overall tone for any situation. With that said, it does become a daunting process from time-to-time as my diary tends to move a little slower this time around (mostly because I now have responsibilities in life versus in the past). Either way, I enjoy putting detail into my writing as I feel it brings me, as a writer, more in-touch with what I'm trying to write.</p><p> </p><p> Also, Eric Tyler really does take the 'cake' in this show. When I booked it, I didn't really realize that he would be a central focus; but, as time went on, it all came together that way. So, keeping up with a hobby like this, means I have to budget my time much more. </p><p> </p><p> All in all, it's great to hear that you enjoyed the show; especially after all the work that went into it!</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="20LEgend" data-cite="20LEgend" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="29363" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>It takes me a while to read it but it's always great, the openings are always so strong that I daren't miss another word in the episode.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thank you, 20LEgend. </p><p> </p><p> I totally understand that it probably takes a bit to get through, especially if you have an attention span like me ha, but I'm hoping that it's worth the struggle from time-to-time. The reason why it's a little longer than most other diaries is that I really enjoy the writing process. To me, I would rather flesh things out as if it were a movie, TV show, or a graphic novel in a sense. Plus, creating the show from a TV Show program perspective, versus just being a simple wrestling show, makes it much more unique for me. I think this inspires me more to go into depth.</p>

<p>Hmm. A very strong show generally but a bad main event. Odd. Perhaps the decision to crown Vicious was as bad as Tyler said it was?</p><p> </p><p>

Also, very excited about this background into a Nemesis-Tyler feud that would have gone on in DAVE. Something like that must have been as iconic as Raven-Tommy Dreamer in ECW.</p>

:D I personally imagine Tyler as a reverse Raven of sorts, with a School of Tradition faction trying to keep/make DAVE Traditional and Nemesis the Sting of DAVE. :D

I can see the reverse-Raven perspective. To me, Eric Tyler was, easily, the greatest possible heel figure that DaVE could have ever known. Who better to become the most hated individual in a hardcore company than the one who absolutely detests the thought of such combat; making it his life's work in which to rid said company of their 'wicked' ways. I guess, in this way, I see Eric Tyler (at least during his stay in DaVE) as more like a heel CM Punk: Condescending, holier than thou, annoyed with the current trend, etc.

My version of Tyler is this same persona; however, aged a good decade or so. He's no longer an active competitor, now someone of authority, a 'suit', so this is how I would perceive such a former traditionalist to become with time.

Easily... My favorite character. Especially now that Nemesis stands as the perfect opposite.

[- "PLAY" VIDEO -]

[The darkened room for which Eric Tyler resides within masterfully frames “The Voice of Reason” due to the blanketing darkness that encompasses the entire scene. For the first time in as far back as we can remember, Mr. Tyler appears to be entirely by himself; removed from even those he has dubbed as his allies. While such a scenario may not be that jarring to most, especially given Tyler’s inherently polarizing psyche, to knowledgeable ‘dead-heads’, such a reality poses many fundamental questions about his current state of mind. None the less, as the camera positions itself close to Tyler’s face, delivering a tight shot all together, “The Voice of Reason” is heard relaying a short statement pertaining to his own need for potential ‘upheaval’.]

”The Voice of Reason” Eric Tyler:
I warned them of what would come if they were unable to deliver upon my request.
[Looks forward; almost ‘gone’, as if in a trance, as he appears detached mentally]
I made it quite clear what would follow if we were unsuccessful. For that, knowing they still failed me, heads must roll.

[While Mr. Tyler has never really been known as a jolly soul, “The Voice of Reason” seems much more vile than normal. His stare, his cold mannerisms, his slowly forming snarl, all tell of a man pushed to the brink of insanity. His face appears to be more sunken than normal, more war-torn than before, more hardened amongst the chaos he’s seen recently. With this, an unsettling tone continues to form around the aging legend; one that paints the grizzled traditionalist in a slightly new light: obsessed.]

”The Voice of Reason” Eric Tyler:
If I am to finally rid this world of the disgusting virus that has plagued my beloved craft for over a decade now, I must surround myself with the ‘best of the best’; the most vile, the most deadly, the most vicious gladiators a man could dare align with. Without such an unstoppable force within my grasp, I fear that I will never, truly, exhaust his final breathe…
[Pauses]
That’s something I can’t have. A notion I dare not challenge.

[Another slight pause is projected by Mr. Tyler, still staring forward like a detached mad-man, as the darkened set only adds to the menacing nature brought forth by the DOA’s infamous “Voice of Reason”. In the end, his final statement leads many to wonder what may lie around the corner…]

”The Voice of Reason” Eric Tyler:
Changes will be made next week on “Rapid Assault”. I promise you of that. No longer will I allow such mediocrity to stand amongst my privileged few. No longer will I accept the dwindling fate of a chosen few. Instead, I will repopulate my faction with those vile enough to facilitate my call for HIS demise…

[With that, Eric Tyler looks straight into the camera lens. His eyes appear quite cold; exuding the ‘cold-blooded’ nature that has become synonymous with Tyler’s rule in Deadly Overloaded Action.]

”The Voice of Reason” Eric Tyler:
One way or another, I will destroy you Nemesis…
[Pauses]
The “Army of Reason” will rise, and in turn, your existence will suffer… I will end you… I will KILL the Revolution…

[With that, the uncomfortable segment comes to an explosive close with the sight of Mr. Tyler staring deep into the camera lens. For the first time since his original debut with the program, “The Voice of Reason” appears to be mentally beside himself; psychologically fixated on the absolute destruction of one man. While other enemies have come before, some harder to ‘kill’ than others, Nemesis, ultimately, appears to be the true ying to his yang: the best, most obvious, counter to his long-standing persona.]

How it will work

Unlike in Season One, I am giving you (every one of you) the ability to partake in developing your very own, potential, DOA cast member. After you’ve created such an individual, relaying the information that I will ask for in return, I will formulate a basic layout for people to vote for their top-10 favorite characters. To be honest, I’m not really sure how many people will actually take part in such a project, so, the top-10 idea may be changed based upon how much, or how little, actually create their own, potential, cast member. From there, as time goes on, I will create a ‘NXT’/Tough Enough-esque program to be centered around the process of finding the next, great, DOA superstar! You’ll have the ability to vote on a weekly basis, I believe, and the ultimate winner will have the ability to help shape said characters debut. From there, I’ll take the reins of your character; however, will ask your advice from time to time.

I’m pondering the notion of creating a new dynasty thread in which to focus primarily on this show; giving this thread the ability to focus solely on the diary at hand. With that said, both will function in real-time and will often interweave based upon the scenario at hand.

Sound cool? If so, then keep reading…

What I will need from you (If you want to partake)

If you’re interested in creating a character of your own, then these are the vital things I’ll need from you (preferably sent via a private message; that way it doesn’t overwhelm this thread all together):

Wrestler’s Picture –
Please, by my own preference, do not use an image already used as a wrestler/staff member/manager/personality/etc. already in use within the Cornellverse. I know there are some great random wrestler renders out there, as well as some amazing creation in the render thread in the MOD section, that would be best used. With that said, if you take an image from the render thread, it may be best to ask the original creator if it’s okay if you use it. In the end, if two people select the same image, it will be given to the person who asks for it’s use first. I know this may seem annoying to some, but, I would rather not have any doppelgangers within the cornellverse (as it will take away from the character all together).

Wrestler’s name –
Go for something you find unique. It can be something generic, if you like, but it may be best to name your wrestler in-line with the character you’re trying to convey. Are they a super hero? A vicious monster? Or an ordinary Joe kind of guy; looking to make it big? These are the things that will set you apart when it comes down to the voting (at least I would think so).

Character Synopsis –
What is your character all about? This is your section to really describe your creation as a whole. Keep it concise; however, make it interesting. Again, this will be huge when it comes to who may vote to keep you in. This will also give me the ability to know HOW to write your character; as, if I don’t have a clear direction, I may go in my own way with it.

Disposition –
babyface/tweener/heel

Wrestling Style –
Are they a technition? A brawler? A cruiserweight? Etc.

Age, Size, and Nationality –
These are all pretty straight forward.

Why should anyone choose your character? –
seems simple, right? This is your ability to write WHY it is someone should vote for your character. Is it because they believe that Eric Tyler is right in attempting to rid the DOA of Nemesis? Is it because they personally want to end Fumihiro OTA for some reason? In a sense, why should you have the chance to come into the DOA and compete? Again, keep it concise but interesting.

When it comes to your actual in-ring ability, that’s not really all that important at this point of the game. When we get our top ten, I will email those people with the ability to relay their overall skill-set based upon a 20 point system that I created for the PSW project that never went too far. I feel, at this point, such details aren’t really needed as it will be way too much work to add that on when were still stuck in the beginning of all of this.

My Advice to you

You can take or not but these are some points I believe are good to keep in mind (coming from the creator of the DOA):

  • The DOA’s product is based around
    modern wrestling
, so, bruising heavyweights may not be the way to go. We’re all about explosive, seamless, never-ending, action; something that won’t really bode well for a 300 pound behemoth.

  • Be original
. Wrestlers that resemble real-world counterparts may not necessarily do all that well. Sure, you can take influence from them but it may be best to dig down deep; bringing forth your inner character developer. I’m a fan of fleshing out a character, of giving them a ‘voice’ (not always verbally), so It would be great to see what you all can come up with as well.

  • With the last statement, take some time to
    think this through
. For my own reasons, once you’ve given me your idea, that’s the contestant you will carry from there on out. It may sound cold, which I hope it doesn’t, but it’s best for making sure everything runs efficiently
    .

In the end,
I am setting an initial deadline for the 1st of December, 12:00 AM CST.
At that point, anyone who has decided to take part will be automatically introduced into the fold. From there, I will devise a way for everyone to put forth their initial vote; giving us our top-10 (or whatever number is needed at that point). Once we have our top competitors, the actual ‘show’ will start. Realistically, I’m creating how the actual ‘shows’ will take place; however, I’m guessing it will take on more of a tough-enough vibe than a NXT. With the DOA being run by a TV network, a reality-TV base would be much better served for such a situation; at least I feel.

As the weeks move on, with the top ten cemented, I will ask these individuals to relay some additional information about the character; giving me the ability to further flesh them out. This will, in the end, lead to one person being crowned the Season II champion of “So… You wanna be a Pro Wrestler!”. From there, that wrestler will join the DOA officially and make his/her impact soon there after on “Rapid Assault”.

Brilliant idea Eisen, and your presentation has been top notch as well. It's always hard to get around the wall-of-text nature of forum writing, but you're doing a good job of it

Thank you, Crayon.

I truly understand how daunting it would have to be to see a large wall of text & attempt to read that accordingly. Honestly, while I love to write in an in-depth perspective, I try to do my best to keep it as concise as possible (no rambling just for the sake of adding things that aren't needed). Also, i'm trying to fuse in more images in which to set the scenes a little better. This helps me as a writer, I believe you as a reader, and ultimately gives "Rapid Assault" it's own feel; more of a TV Show versus a straight wrestling program.

All in all, thank you for the kind words. You've been around my projects for quite some time so it's cool to still see you stopping back in.

I like this idea a lot, I will not be making a character but coming voting time I shall help decide who will be the next DOA star!

Fair enough, BHK! I know you're a busy man. I'm excited to see what others come up with (and am really happy with what i've seen thus far from initial entrants).

I am SO going to do this...

I'm sure I could come up wrestler who could 'shake the fabric' of the DOA. :D

I would LOVE to see what you come up with Tiger. My inbox will be awaiting your creation... :D

My character is coming soon EV. Great idea

Edit: Sent! (I hope)

I certainly got it, 20LEgend!

I just want to say that I'm really enjoying this process thus far; there are some great characters coming in already! This project will run along side my actual dynasty; so, expect to see the next "Rapid Assault" card up sometime in the next few days. Meanwhile, as the more characters come in for "So... You wanna be a Pro Wrestler?", then I will add them to my database accordingly.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Cheers.

Nah I am not a busy man, I just lack the originality to come up with a good enough character for you.

I know there's been a lot of OOC comments from me these days but I feel it's mostly set forth to get everyone in the know about the new season of 'So... You wanna be a Pro Wrestler?". That said, I'm really happy with what i've seen. Believe me, this idea has really jumped off pretty well thus far. Keep em coming!!

Onto what I wanted to say; though. I forgot my laptop at home before heading 3 hours to spend time with my family over the holiday. With that said, the next card may take a few more days than I first thought to be up. Realistically, I may not really be able to put forth any major 'dynasty-based' posts until Friday. I was hoping to get some work in, especially since at night I'm given more time to work on stuff, but I guess this could be a good way to relax a bit.

Either way, the next card will be up soon & I'm currently working with Angeldelayette on the next "Hawkes Eye' segment. On top of that, I plan on putting up a 'Silver lining' segment at some point here as well; one focused on Nemesis & the carnage that tends to follow him wherever he goes (as her segments are more about a journalistic view of the DOA).

All in all, thanks for the support thus far. I've fixed the things that have gassed me out in the past & am 100% happy, and focused, on delivery a lengthy DOA dynasty.

Cheers.

TOPIC: “If you live by the sword; you'll die by the sword”.

There is an age-old adage that continues to stand the test of time. This phenomenon has reared it’s ugly head for centuries and continues to threaten many who are unaware of the pitfalls of success. Regardless of the person, no matter what their status may be, in the end, “When you live by the sword; you’ll die by the sword”; it’s as simple as that.

For Nemesis, this ugly scenario has become quite evident. After years of waging a fiery revolution, built upon the violent-overtones within the hardcore wrestling practice, Nemesis now stands as the victim of his very own legacy. The personality traits we once celebrated, the chaotic environment he once cultivated, now haunts him like a vengeful spirit; latching itself upon it’s host in a viral fashion.

His ability to evolve, the potential for a new perception, is simply impossible. We, those who eventually catapulted him into an iconic status, find ourselves unable to see him in any other light. He is, and will forever be, regardless of how many years pass, the central figurehead of a inexhaustible revolution.

Many may question WHY I even focus on such a scenario. I mean, most within this industry would literally KILL to obtain such a lofty status as Nemesis. He’s a bonafide Legend. A rugged Icon. A transcendatory figure that will ultimately stand the test of time. Who wouldn’t want to be perceived in such a manner?

Realistically, Nemesis may not even care that his persona has been pigeon-held but, what he doesn’t’ know is that, his success in the DOA may be contingent upon his ability to change other’s perceptions of him. How can anyone ever take him seriously as an Authoritative Figure when he spent the last decade rebelling against such a position? Also, how will anyone ever trust his insight after spending the last 10 years at an elevated status?

To those in the DOA, the hungry, the poor, the beaten, the abused, and the forgotten, how can they realistically look to Nemesis as an ally; or even more so… A leader? People like Nemesis, and to extent his own arch-rival, Eric Tyler, are what Deadly Overloaded Action is ultimately rebelling against. “Rapid Assault” has become the hellacious playground of those willing to defy gravity, to withstand immense pain, and ultimately catapult their bodies like torpedoes, in hopes of obtaining the very thing most people search for: Relevancy. Why would any of these guys trust someone like Nemesis when he’s done little to show that he’s really invested in furthering such a cause? For all they know, he could be another version of Eric Tyler… Just wrapped in a different gift box; gussied up by a different bow.

As it stands right now, from what we’ve seen early on, Nemesis stands in the middle of two wars… One with his hated rival of the last decade, “The Voice of Reason”. The other, coming from the DOA figures who find him untrustworthy; who feel he will overtake their company, pushing them aside, just as he did with DaVE. All in all, with a war on two fronts, entrenched in a battle coming from every which way, Nemesis must evolve or risk going down in the blaze of glory…

Maybe that’s okay with him. Maybe he’d rather go out on his own accord then show he’s invested in the future of the industry. Who knows. In the end, though, there’s no way he’ll survive such warfare if he’s unable to acquire a single ally (something that’s shown to be tough so far). Vicious isn’t interested in his guidance. Greg Black simply won’t accept a compliment from the Wrestling Legend. Who else will stand in a defiance before it’s all said and done?

“If you live by the sword; you’ll die by the sword”.

I reiterate this adage in which to relay a plea to Nemesis.

Evolve. Fight for the next-generation. In turn, remove the tyrannical influence of one Eric Tyler. IF you can do all of this, then you’ll be celebrated once again; projected as the very thing that you are: A legend. If you’re unable to succeed then we may be witnessing a losing battle straight out of the gate. It may be only a matter of time before the WAR encompasses everything… you included.

Defy your ‘sword’…

Bring a sense of stability to the ever-chaotic DOA by decapitating the vindictive head of the DOA…

Silence “The Voice of Reason”…

Wrestler’s Picture – Please, by my own preference, do not use an image already used as a wrestler/staff member/manager/personality/etc. already in use within the Cornellverse.

If you've got some descriptions or anything for this, I'm happy to try and whack a few custom renders together for you E-V. I feel I kinda owe for the liberty to use some of your ideas in my proposed, but yet to appear dynasty. ;)

Oh and I've been keenly following the return of DOA. Haven't commented yet as I thought I'd wait till you found your feet with it a bit more, but I will say that I'm enjoying the brewing conflict thus far.
