There are some fantastic characters in this show so far, and if things continue along these lines then you've done something fantastically fresh, my friend.

So far I'm torn between KZA and J-Glo but Vitaly Kopalenko also has a fantastic backstory. Can't wait to see the last few characters :D

You won't have a dilema when you see my character :p

But really great character I really like them, Jeff Thomas may just be edging it for me.

Thank you for the nod, my friend. :D

I'm really excited about the "So... You wanna be a Pro Wrestler?" scenario. Honestly, I think it really adds to the whole TV-run company situation; as I often make decisions for the DOA based upon what you would expect from such a business creation. Overall, so far, It's been great to see/project these characters to the masses. These guys have done some great work crafting their personas & I would be happy to have any of them part of the DOA long-term. I guess we'll see how people vote in the end; as to who will go on.

As for the whole 'fresh' thing. I'm a big fan of adding new elements into my diaries. This way, nothing ever seems all that stale. Even to those who read the first season of the DOA would probably say that Season II is quite different. The presentation is different, there has been a lot of newbies coming in, and there has been a major focus on the 'home-grown' talent (or at least what those would perceive as home grown; if they didn't follow indy wrestling so much).

You won't have a dilema when you see my character :p

Jeff Thomas was actually the first one I received. He's truly brilliant. I can certainly see him being the ultimate antagonist amongst the DOA.

I may have stole glasses off of a Jack Giedroyc alt for J-Glo.

It works for your character though. He has that look of a 'party-boy' to the T.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/Details.jpg

[GDS Handler: 20LEgend]

Character Synopsis –
Man? Yes. Moth? Yes. Role Model? Defiantly. Superhero? Not really.

The sock eating, villain beating, master of competing, this man is a true nocturnal nightmare.

Whilst not possessing any of the stereotypical superpowers, The Moth does have heart, passion and a unique technique of gnawing through clothes.

A true warrior of the ring his aerial assaults and his quick swooping attacks mean that he is as annoying as his fellow Moths, he is a master at getting under the skin of his heel adversaries, a very superstitious individual, this guy is a real underdog as his butterflies of fellow workers, it seems he is destined to be staring up at the lights (or hovering around them) unless he continues to show the heart that has gotten him this far.

Fun Fact –
He chews on his left sock for 10 seconds before going to the ring to get him into the 'moth' mentality.

Disposition –
face but I can't see the dead heads treating him like that. Tweener.

Wrestling Style –
Cruiserweight.

Age, Size, and Nationality –
21, Lightweight, English.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/WHY-1.jpg

Choose Moth Man because he is Deadly Overload Action, and because the dimly lit 'Dungeon' is the perfect home for the Moth as the bright lights of the big boys will just distract him from his goal, his goal which is to become the DOA Champion.

He will fly above the rest and will be the undebatable savior to the DOA (and it's ratings).

And we all know that whilst those darn invaders from the big three, DOA NEEDS A HERO!

And in the end only one will come out 'Totally Supreme.'

Do I really need to say much with this cat? Honestly, who, in their right mind, would chomp away on a pair of tube-socks? Straight up, this playa 'aint nothing but a loon! Clad in spandex, and a mask from a nearby 'party store', The Moth Man looks to eat his way through the competition's clothing; a fact that would only prove to be worthwhile if a few Diva's were thrown into the mix.
[Chuckles to himself; shakes his head playfully in disbelief]
I kid, I kid. This cat may be a little 'off' but that don't mean he's a lost cause entirely. I've seen some crazier sh*t go down in my life. If he does get far; however, 'yall may want to hide your drahws; The Moth-Man seemingly has an appetite for your threads.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/Details.jpg

[GDS Handler: Codey]

Character Synopsis –
Chang's a highly athletic individual that's experienced one too many head injuries due to his dangerous style. The result is that he's come under the impression that his athleticism is directly caused by the fact that he's an android that's run away from his creators. He's become highly paranoid that men are constantly getting sent after him to return him to the laboratories of his youth. Often times, he thinks that his opponents are these men.

Disposition –
Babyface

Wrestling Style –
Chang utilizes a fast paced, explosive style, the type DOA is known for. If I had to pick the closest one, I'd say super junior. His finisher's are a double foot stomp he calls Booster Boots and a Dragon Clutch, known as the Rewiring.

Age, Size, and Nationality –
25, Lightweight, American

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/WHY-1.jpg

Chang embodies the DOA-style. He's a worker that could bring something new to the table everytime he has a match, and someone that could bring both comedy and dramatic action to the fans. Plus, he's a character that's not been seen before, and, as a TV show, isn't that what DOA's about? The characters?

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/According.jpg

Where did we find these guys? Honestly?
[batch is shown looking around; as if he were speaking to producers in the process]
The DOA puts out an 'open casting call' and this is what we end up with?
[shakes his head; chuckles to himself slightly as he drags on his cigar again]
To add to the 'boat full of crazy' known as the Second Season of "So... You wanna be a Pro Wrestler?", we now find our next contestant claiming to be a runaway android; terrified that his captures will eventually force him back into the lab he once spawned from. Seriously... You can't make this stuff up.
[Chuckles slightly]
Hell, why not? It's not like the DOA is the beacon of sanity...
[Chuckles slightly again]
This cat is one messed-up loon but that doesn't mean he can't 'go at it with the best of 'em'. Realistically, if he feels a slew of unnamed captures are hot on his tail 24/7, he could end up as one of the most dominating figures in this shows history. What else will motivate you then possibly thinking your freedom is continually being taken away?
[smirks; shakes his head in disbelief]
This cat may be out of his mind but I guess we'll have to see how everything unfolds. Can he win the show? Possibly. Could he survive in the DOA? Probably. Will he have a mental breakdown before he can even get there? most certainly...

Generally in favour of Jeff Thomas, Vitaly Kopalenko and KZA. They seem both cool and different, stuff that hasn't been done before. What better recommendation does DOA need?

Exactly.

That's why I'm really excited about this side-project; as it will really help the DOA in the end (giving a new personality to the fold with a following already). That said, these guys really pumped out some great characters thus far. With each message, I found myself really excited to see what was coming next.

Hats off to the 12 men who brought us these great characters. I think, at this point, we are 4 more away from all of them being out there.

The next one is due up later tonight...

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/Details.jpg

[GDS Handler: Rayelek]

Character Synopsis –
An arrogant heel who calls himself "The Sure Bet." Always a fan of professional wrestling growing up, Gabriel went to Canada to train with the Stone family, before coming back down to the States and working on the indies. Combining his technical knowledge with a small amount of gymnastics background, Gabriel can attack from many angles, keeping opponents off-guard.

Disposition –
Heel.

Wrestling Style –
Constant Submission Attack.

Age, Size, and Nationality –
28, Middleweight, American

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/WHY-1.jpg

Looking at the DOA scene, there is the Choke-Out Championship, as well as the potential to make Matthew Keith tap-out and prove that while Keith may have the pedigree, it's the training that counts. In regards to Tyler/Nemesis, Gabriel doesn't care who wins, as long as they recognize the talent that he brings to the table and give him the shots he deserves.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/According.jpg

I could sit back and bag on this cat, pick out every little detail that I may not like, but the truth of the matter is... I like this kid.
[Takes a slow drink of the left-over scotch in the small tumbler before him.]
He's shown that this 'sport' means everything to him & that's something to praise in this day-and-age. As the industry becomes more mainstream, adding in levels of over-the-top celebritism, Gabriel is a 100% throwback to a previous era. This kid is all about straight-forward, in-your-face, dedication; something that seems to be lacking in previous years. Can he 'make-good' on his promise; coming away as a future DOA Chokeout Champion? Possibly. First, though, he must find a way to survive the 'hell' that is the Second Season of "So... You wanna be a Pro Wrestler?". If he can outlast the competition, proving that he can withstand the torturous climb of the DOA-ladder, then I'll put my faith in the youngster. Until then, though, he's just another arrogant cat with little to show for but a lot of talk.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/Details.jpg

[GDS Handler: Kamchatka]

Character Synopsis –
Hell Bug (Real name Harvey O’Keefe) is a hyper fast, daredevil willing to put his body on the line and take multiple sick bumps in order to get him noticed. His character is mainly comical, playing on his speed, talking nonstop (think Blur from Transformers), hunting out and consuming caffeine and sugar in vast quantities from any source (Red Bull Sponsorship anyone?), often acting irrational, jittery. A true role model for those fans with ADHD.

Disposition –
Uncertain.

Wrestling Style –
Cruiserweight.

Age, Size, and Nationality –
22, Small, American

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/WHY-1.jpg

I feel Hell Bug could provide some much needed comical lightheartedness to the DOA. A speedy lunatic, popping out from under tables, in air vents, in lockers, mail bags etc before leaping onto people and attempting to bite them and feed on their “sugary veins”. Always referring to himself in the third person and continually failing to do anything beyond getting knocked out as soon as he enters the ring.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/According.jpg

Ever wonder what it'd be like to see a can of redbull in human form, or at least quasi-human form, then look no further; Hell Bug is your man. With the attention span of a restless dog, the energy level of a coked-out street walker, and the size of a miniature circus clown stowed away at the bottom of a Jalopy, Hell Bug is one of those once-in-a-lifetime figures... Mostly because it'd be impossible to replicate such insanity! His size may limit him slightly; however, his incessant energy will eventually stand as his greatest asset. Then again, sooner or later, he'll have to come 'crashing down'... Right?
[Pauses; turns his head slightly in a "I'm not sure" kind of fashion]
Right?

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/Details.jpg

[GDS Handler: TheOracle]

Character Synopsis –
Kiyoto Senshi is a man without gimmicks. He is silent, stern, shockingly calm, mentally centered, deeply intelligent, and the kind of fighter who only erupts when he’s faced with battle. While some look to become famous, Senshi looks to become the most respected wrestler in modern history. While this may sound like the same thing to some, the glaring differences shows exactly how Kiyoto Senshi perceives his world.

Disposition –
Can go either way.

Wrestling Style –
Stiff Flier.

Age, Size, and Nationality –
30, Middleweight, Japanese

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/WHY-1.jpg

Since the DOA’s early days, “Rapid Assault” has been littered with hot heads. While it’s expected in this industry, Senshi is an easy contrast to such a focus. He’s focused, mentally centered, stern in nature, and the true symbol of an intelligent warrior. As some flail around like madmen, stupidly making decisions based upon personal fame, Kiyoto Senshi withholds an iron will of sorts.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/According.jpg

Here's a cat cut from the same mold as the Johnny Vicious's, Nemesis's, and Acid's of the world; however, with a unique twist that makes him shockingly calm in his demeanor. Kiyoto was brought to my attention pretty early on as I felt he was DOA material throughout; a hardened fighter with aspirations for 'greatness'. His downfall, however, appears to be that he has an apparent 'off-and-on switch' that could potentially be his ultimate unwinding. In the DOA, there's not a moment where you can let your guard down. Your foes will always engage in their desired downfall for you at any point, any day of the week, and within any place; so, to simply subdue the 'beast within', at any point, is potentially a death-wish within a company hell-bent on tearing you limb-from-limb. Can he survive? Most certainly. Will he have long-lasting success in the DOA? This remains to be seen as, those who stay 'in the fight' at all times, ie: Johnny Vicious, tend to be those who succeed within the DOA ranks.

Update/Framework Details
:

As it stands right now, I am two more contestants away from having everyone accounted for. With this in mind, from there after, the actual 'show' will start to move along with the standpoint of a 'Tough Enough'-like approach to wrestling programming. I'm not entirely sure how this will work; however, I have some ideas that I plan on relaying within this post. I hope that this knowledge, as I haven't really divulged this quite yet, will give you a better idea of what to expect from this conceptual Pro Wrestling-esque Talent Search.

[== There will be an initial vote; taking 13 contestants down to 10 right away! ==]

This may sound somewhat harsh, cutting three contestants right away, but I really want to get the train rolling rather quickly. With most reality-based TV shows these days, the action tends to come right away; making a more abrupt feeling toward everything. This show is no different realistically. So, with this in mind, you will be asked to vote for your favorite wrestler from the bunch, straight away, with your only real backdrop being your first, initial, thought of them. Really, it's like deciding whether or not you'd be interested in dating someone based solely on your first impression. While you may not necessarily know A LOT about them, I feel like the individual focus of each guy gives you the ability to, at least, make a quasi-educated decision. Plus, this gets us down to 10 contestants overall going forward.

You will vote via SurveyMonkey!

To be honest, I haven't used the site before; however, I've seen others doing son on the boards here. I feel that this would be the best course of action as it will give you a centralized place to vote.

Each Voting Period, Two Contestants will be eliminated!

This brings the overall show to, roughly depending upon voting time-frames, a 2-month process. This way, It's far enough out that this project gets it due; however, close enough that the winner can jump into the DOA mold pretty quickly. I think this is probably the best route to go.

This show will carry a 'Kayfabe' mentality!

While the show will look & feel like 'Tough Enough', each character will remain in their character for the duration of the show. In this case, I guess it's more like NXT but with more of a reality-TV-show feeling. Also, I plan on creating an 'after-dark' scenario much like what you see with 'Big Brother'. This will give small spinets of tension, friendships, and fights, that will certainly ensue when 10 Pro Wrestlers are forced into one house together. There will be challenges along the way, which continues with the 'Big Brother'-like, Narrative; so, expect more Reality TV than a Pure Wrestling event.

I hope this helps shape what to expect from the show; going forward!
:D
I'm excited to get this off the ground & expect the final two contestants to be up in the next few days.

Cheers.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/Details.jpg

[GDS Handler: Arogue]

Character Synopsis –
The embodiment of Europe, Van Der Garde may be German born but he has come to America to show them, that as a continent, the Europeans are superior. With an undying loyalty to all things European, the only thing Nico likes more than David Hasslehoff is soundly beating an ignorant American.Nico has no sense of humor and is ruthlessly efficient in the ring, playing up to the stereotype of the German people, but he can also play a comic character with his adoration of techno music, dance and of course The Hoff (or his cornellverse equivalent)

Disposition –
Heel.

Wrestling Style –
European Mat Technician style.

Age, Size, and Nationality –
25, Middleweight, German

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/WHY-1.jpg

DOA is coming to represent all corners of the globe, with North Americans, South Americans, Asians and even Caribbean roster members, the one thing they are missing is a European worker. This could tie well into the character, saying that DOA has purposely ignored Europe. Euroboy can also play various roles, the "Evil Foreigner" , a more complex character, based on stereotyping and prejudice of the German people or even just a goofy dancing European, Euroboy could evolve throughout the diary and prove an interesting character.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/According.jpg

The Second Season of "So... You Wanna be a Pro Wrestler?" continues with it's international theme as the German-born nationalist, Nico Van Der Garde, brings his Anti-American cause to the DOA; threatening the very 'host-country' he now finds himself within.
[Takes a quick swig of the glass of scotch before him; shaking his head in annoyance in the process.]
We've seen this schtick before, countless of times; however, something seems a little bit more harsh with this cat. Realistically, will the American public vote for someone who absolutely hates them? That remains to be seen. Either way, though, if Van Der Garde can make it through to the main roster, it's expected that he'll gain A LOT of enemies straight out of the gate.
[Chuckles to himself; takes another swig of his scotch]
There 'aint no doubtin' that one.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/Details.jpg

[GDS Handler: ChrisKid]

Character Synopsis –
Christian is a man who looks down on anyone who he doesn’t think is "perfect" his definition is no drink, no drugs and no outrageous thuggish behavior, he is a small man who cheats to win, talks down fans in the audience, he usually has a big man to intimidate fans and to stop his enemies getting close to him.

Disposition –
Heel.

Wrestling Style –
High flyer who is also a submission specialist.

Age, Size, and Nationality –
16, Lightweight, English

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/WHY-1.jpg

Christian Starr believes he is the role model the world needs, he isn't up for late night partying but instead invests all his time into wrestling, he often taunts fans for being to weak just to say no to drugs and alcohol, Christian has confidence that when he wins DOA's So You Wanna Be A Wrestler" he will go on become DOA's first straight edge Champion.

http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/DOA_Cornellverse/Next-Great-dead-head/According.jpg

This Starr cat seems like nothing short of an absolute drag.
[Puffs strongly on his cigar as he swirls his glass of scotch round]
No drinking? No Smoking? Next he's going to say that Women are evil for their 'seductress ways'.
[Chuckles; shakes his head in disbelief]
Honestly, we shouldn't be shocked. With the rise of "The Moral Majority" in the DOA, these cats are going to start coming out of the wood-work; professing the very same notion that Hernandez and X have pushed for quite some time now. Will the 'dead-heads' vote for someone who continually degrades their very existence? Who knows... What I do know is this... Dude needs to lighten up a bit.

With Christian Starr now up, This marks the end of the individual review of each contestant for "So... You wanna be a Pro Wrestler? - Season II! I know it probably went a little longer than most would have thought; however, I really wanted to make sure that each character got their proverbial 'moment in the sun'. Now, with all of that out of the way, we can move forward with the actual show itself.

With this in mind, the first vote will come within the next few days (At least the Survey Monkey will go up at that time). As stated before, you will typically vote out 2 people per voting period; however, this time around it'll be 3 (since it will bring us from 13 down to 10 contestants).

For those who want to be part of this, voting-wise, it's best to brush up on your favorite characters now as you'll be asked to cast a vote in their favor very soon!

Cheers.

The harsh condition of the warehouse we find ourselves within paints the obvious underlying narrative often combined with Deadly Overloaded Action: It’s quite a b*tch to survive here. Minor streaks of light tear through the clouded windows on high; acting like a theoretical sword in their endeavors as they search to illuminate the scene before our very eyes. This scene in question delivers the image of the 13 embattled contestants, standing in a militaristic-like row, as they appear to be weary of each other’s presence; knowing that this is, in it’s most simplistic form, a heated competition and not a moment to make friends.

Standing before a faded, grey-based, brick wall, DOA personality, Carl Batch, arrogantly stares upon the men before him; lightly puffing blanketing cigar smoke into the atmosphere in turn. His mannerisms tell of a confident figure, one quite strong in his convictions, as he truly appears to be without much in the way of psychological cracks. Instead, his relatively calm demeanor tells of one comfortable within such confines; no longer dazed by the bright-lights of the Wrestling industry.

Following a hefty expulsion of smoke from the depths of his mouth, Batch is heard beginning to speak in his traditional, confidently stern, tone. All the while, holding his half-smoked cigar firmly between his silky-smooth lips; positioned deep into the corner of his mouth.

Carl Batch:
Deadly Overloaded Action is not a place for the weak; both mentally and physically. With this in mind, you will be living here, behind this very wall, in what most prisoners would consider to be a ‘hell-like’ confine. If you can survive, the ultimate prize will be granted to you upon your victory: A guaranteed DOA contract. However, before that can become a reality, before you can live out your dream, you must be subjected to absolute hell.
[smirks devilishly]
This way, we can find out which one of you is really ready for the DOA ranks…

The camera man pans across the 13 hopefuls as they all appear unshaken by such grand craziness. Regardless of their brave exteriors, it’s expected that most of them are internally questioning whether or not such chaos is able to be withstood. None the less, as such questioning takes place, the camera man flashes back to Carl Batch as he’s shown pausing for a second; looking over the embattled few before him.

Carl Batch:
Before you may enter; however, to prove how chaotic this scenario will be upon all of you, we are administering our first cuts straight away.
[smirks]
You’ve all been given a chance to plead your case, initially, to the ‘dead-heads’ watching at home. Now, with this knowledge out there, it’s officially in their hands. 3 of you will be going home before you even step foot in this room.

A dramatic song plays silently underneath the scenario at hand as, once again, the camera man pans across the 13 contestants before Mr. Batch; in a way to give you one final glimpse of these men before 3 are removed from the competition. As we continue to forcibly gaze upon the hopefuls before the lens, we hear Mr. Batch’s voice on final time; peering above the dramatic theme in which to relay one final verbal jab.

Carl Batch:
I would wish you all luck but… I’m afraid luck won’t save you at this point.
[smirks]
The ‘dead-heads’ now stand as your judge, jury, and executioner.
[Pauses]
For those they save from elimination, this will become your home for the next 2 months; at least until you, as well, are eliminated. To those who are cut instantaneously…
[Pauses; smirks devilishly]
You’ll be subjected to a ‘deadly’ parting gift…
[Pauses
That is all, Men. May the ‘dead-heads’ have mercy on your souls…

With that, Mr. Batch confidently steps away from the scenario at hand; leaving the 13 contestants standing as one… Alone… And awaiting your decision as to which 3 of them will be going home during this first elimination!

Here's one fan's recommendation: keep Vitaly Kopalenko on board. Why? Very simple. Vitaly Kopalenko is actually something different. A wrestling ballroom dancer? What the hell? It's crazy, it's ridiculous, and we've never seen anything like it before. Yeah, he's an arrogant heel at heart, but it's a new slant on an old character. For that reason, he's worth saving.

However...

Meaning no offence to the creators of these characters: Ryan Daniels is a cookie-cutter 'outsider' character who otherwise has no personality. Christian Starr is a CM Punk rip-off. Kyoto Senshi would do better in a pure wrestling fed where character has no part to play. KZA is fighting against black sterotypes... by playing into a different, crazier stereotype. Although actually, KZA might be fun.

Just my two cents.

Thank you for your 2-cents, Regis. Honestly, I would love for people to relay the reasons why they think certain people should be voted for. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for, and somewhat expecting, so it's great to see the ball start rolling.

With this said, I'm going to keep myself very impartial with this whole process. There are characters I really like within the bunch, as there are many, but won't really show any favorites what so ever. I really want it to be objective from my standpoint. That said, you all can go ahead and push for any character you'd like to see stay. Plus, voting is your ultimate 'say-so'. :D

So far, just within a half of a day, we've got a great turnout; however, it'd be great to see things continue to move from here! So, if you haven't voted yet, give each character a read & put a vote on the board for who you'd like to see stay!

Again, thanks for the insight, Regis. You raise some great points.

Cheers.

Just to clarify my character (starr) may seem like he's a cm punk rip off but in fact he is sort of like the dark sadistic side of myself as i'm (no disrespect to anyone who smokes or drinks) against smoking or drinking just the character is just x10 of this

....yes kopalenko is different i'll give you that

You know at just 16, is Christian Starr even at a legal age to wrestle?

I'm surprised to see how well my creation Kopalenko appears to be going down :)

I did think about doing the cliched outsider character or the intense Japanese style junior but then I have to admit I was watching Strictly Come Dancing (for Americans that's the UK version of Dancing with the stars) and one of the couples were doing a 'spotty' latin dance with 'lifts' and I thought some of this nonsense is not that far from being turned into wrestling moves.

Besides Dancing and wrestling are both choreographed in their own way. :p
