</p><div style="text-align:left;"><ul><li>Terry Gordy is the new SMW Heavyweight Champion, capturing the title from Brad Armstrong on his first title defence. Over in USWA, Akira Hokuto is the new Women's champion. On the lucha side of things, the Headhunters have dropped the CMLL Tag belts to Negro Casas & El Hijo Del Santo, who debuted as a new team.<br /></li><li>The sub-storyline with Kamala's removal from the Dungeon of Doom is actually because WCW has decided not to renew his contract. It expires in a few days, so expect him to put over an up-and-coming wrestler on Saturday Night.<br /></li><li>WCW is said to be in negotiations with Road Warrior Animal in an effort to bolster their lackluster tag team division. Animal is currently out injured, but it's likely that WCW will spend the extra money needed to ensure exclusivity and prevent a split of the Road Warrior team. Road Warrior Hawk is currently under contract but is also out on injury leave. Hawk is close to full recovery, however, and creative is discussing plans on how to get him back up and running without waiting for Animal's recovery, which is approximately three months away.<br /></li><li>Eleven promotions have declined last-resort offers from World Championship Wrestling in their ongoing effort to find a safe haven for developing future world champions. Plan B is in effect and management is negotiating with Turner Broadcasting Executives to determine how much money can be allocated towards the investment of an upstart promotion.<br /></li><li>Wrestler-turned-referee Scott Armstrong was quietly released from World Championship Wrestling. Creative did not have any intentions of returning him to an active in-ring role, and the refereeing staff was well equipped with senior officiators Nick Patrick and Randy Anderson being enough to handle the shows.<br /></li><li>Monday Night Raw's taping featured a stellar Undertaker/Shawn Michaels main event which would have been an A* if it were on a bigger stage, so to speak. It's likely WCW will not mention this to avoid WCW viewers from changing the channel. WCW is considering offering a championship match on every Nitro in an effort to combat WWF.<br /></li><li>WCW.com's Prediction contest standings:<br />

Agora Theatre, Birmingham Alabama

Host: Gene Okerlund

Announcers: Jim Crockett Jr, Mike Tenay, Steve McMichael

  • The Nasty Boys def. The State Patrol (8:08) (D).
  • Ric Flair is backstage, he says that he won't wrestle anyone unless he gets his rematch against Anderson. (B+)
  • Jim Duggan def. The Renegade (8:53) (D+)
  • Steve McMichael interviews Hacksaw on his win. (D+)
  • Johnny B Badd and Rey Mysterio Jr def. Chris Jericho and Santo Christo (7:04) when Johnny pinned Santo Christo after a Discus Punch. Jericho, as usual, was distancing himself from getting too involved, tagging himself in to face Mysterio and tagging himself out to avoid Badd. (D+)
  • Steve McMichael interviews newcomer Damon Stryker backstage. (D)
  • Jushin Liger def. Kurasawa (8:23) in a solid match after a Sheer-Drop Brainbuster. (D+)
  • The Giant brutalized three rookies--Taka Michinioku, Banzai, and Rob Van Dam. (E+) (language barrier...stupid game)
  • Arn Anderson and Steven Regal def. Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero (13:18) in a pretty good match. Malenko and Guerrero worked great as a team. (B-)

Final Rating: C

So in a way, you are cheating as you are writing stuff up that you aren't actually writing in your card.

Uh, I guess?

But not really, it's more an avoidance of letting time or effort go to waste. I had everything written up before I saw the show grade and decided to re-do it because I didn't want my first PPV to bomb so badly (C-).

I would rather 'cheat' than break continuity and have my storylines not progress. Besides, I've seen plenty of other dynasties that aren't 100% the outcome of their game.

Monday, Week 1, October 1995

Host: Gene Okerlund

Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Eric Bischoff, & Ric Flair

Gainesville O-Dome (10,000)

Preshow:

Harlem Heat def. The Blue Bloods in a good match (9:31) to retain the WCW World Tag Team titles. (B-)

Main Show:

In memory of 'Flyin' Brian Pillman. Ten bell tribute with graphic, announcers open show.

Schiavone: Fans, we welcome you to Monday Nitro. If you have not heard already, WCW Cruiserweight Champion Brian Pillman tragically passed away over the weekend. Tonight in his memory we have a packed show with all of World Championship Wrestling's titles being defended.

Bischoff: All titles except for the Cruiserweight Championship. The Board of Directors are discussing plans for the title, but we felt for now it would be best to keep the title vacant, as there is no replacing Brian.

Schiavone: Mean Gene is standing by with Bobby Heenan and the Giant. ©

Okerlund: Thank you Tony. I'm here with Hulk Hogan's gargantuan opponent and challenger for his world title at Halloween Havoc. However, with the championship up for grabs tonight, your title shot could be looking very different.

Heenan: It doesn't matter whether Hogan is the champion or Anderson is the champion. Anderson would be an easier fight, though. I've managed Anderson. I know all of his tricks, all of his secrets. The Giant would be more than prepared for that. But we're rooting for Hogan to keep the title to place it at the footsteps of this 7 foot tall beast of a man. Hogan's fuel is vitamins and prayers, right? Well the Giant feeds on the blood of Hulkamania, so look out, Hulkster. (B)

Malenko & Guerrero and Johnny B Badd & Chris Jericho fought to a catastrophe of a draw. Good match, but the referee lost all hope and threw the match out when Johnny B Badd and Chris Jericho started fighting eachother and triple teaming eachother WITH their opponents. (9:25) (C-)

Ric Flair cuts a promo.

Flair: I said I wouldn't wrestle again, but we all know that in the world of wrestling, never say never. We lost a fantastic wrestler, friend or foe, a man with a gift in the ring. To not wrestle on a show dedicated to his memory would be a crime. So one more time, I'm lacing them up to tear the house down with the Stinger. But after this, the next time I wrestle for WCW better be at Halloween Havoc against you know who. (B+)

Sting def. Flair to retain the WCW United States Championship in yet another great Sting/Flair showdown (14:08). It was an open, back and forth bout that looked to go to the time limit, but Arn Anderson came to ringside to deck Flair when the referee's back was turned. Sting didn't see it either, and put Flair in the Scorpion Deathlock to secure the submission victory. (B+)

Road Warrior Hawk def. The Taskmaster by disqualification in his return match after a lengthy absence due to injury. There was a lot of interference in this match, as expected, as Zodiac, Meng, & Big Bubba came to the aid of the Taskmaster. Fortunately for Hawk, Sting & Luger ran down to make the save. (11:52) ©

Gene Okerlund interviews Randy Savage, who says he'd like to face another member of Dungeon of Doom if the Taskmaster is willing to agree to the same stipulation as Kamala's last match.

Hulk Hogan defeated Arn Anderson in the main event for the WCW World Heavyweight championship in a great match. Anderson gave Hogan a run for his money, but interference from Flair set Hogan up for a big boot and leg drop to retain the title (13:31). (B)

Arn and Flair brawled after the match but were broken up by Hogan and Sting, who ran to ringside. (A)

Post show:

Diamond Dallas Page def. Jushin Liger to retain the WCW Television Championship. (8:59) (C-)

Overall rating: B-

Don't worry about "cheating". Just keep doing what you're doing with your storylines and diary writing!

Thanks for the support.

Am I going too fast? I didn't get any predictions on the last show and I'm powering ahead because I'm dieing to develop my ideas. haha

World Championship Wrestling has signed a deal with a smaller Japanese coverage provider and is in negotiations with others to expand to the Mexican, European, and United Kingdom markets.<br /></li><li>Hashimoto and Sano have won the Super Grade Tag League tournament in New Japan Pro Wrestling. The Inner Circle have captured the Mexican National Tag titles in AAA.<br /></li><li>Jim Cornette has declined WCW's contract offer, nullifying any chances of re-aligning Cornette with former client Bobby Eaton. We don't know if this is a recent development or if they have been operating as such from day one. <strong>Main show:</strong></p><p>

<strong>Dusty Rhodes is in the ring.</strong></p><p>

A lot of you saw what happened to me two weeks ago by Arn Anderson. I should have known better. He's been doing that to me for years, fighting dirty and pulling out all of the stops. Arn learned from the best though: Ric Flair. After that gross display of misconduct, WCW Management has given Ric Flair the rematch he deserves, and has elected ME to be the one to deliver the 'good news' to Mr Anderson. It serves you right, Arn. They call you the Enforcer but you ain't enforcing nothin' at Halloween Havoc because Mr Flair is going to drive through you like a freight train, daddy. There's one small catch, I regret to have to inform Ric. WCW wishes to remain fair to both sides, and to punish Mr Flair for his refusal to compete in recent weeks, he must go one on one with the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship tonight, The GIANT. (B)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Gene Okerlund</strong> is backstage with Randy Savage and the rest of the Hulkamaniacs.</p><p>

<strong>Savage: </strong>You know somethin', Mean Gene, I haven't heard a PEEP from the Taskmaster on my challenge. Maybe I need to put something on the line myself. Maybe, the Macho Man needs to put his allegiances on the line, YEAH. Fair's fair.. Fair's fair... If I lose, I'm through with the Hulkamaniacs. I'll even take a little vacation, YEAH. Taskmaster, you and me, one on one, and if I lose, I'm through with this group here and I won't wrestle again until the new year, yeah.</p><p>

<strong>Okerlund</strong>: And if you win?</p><p>

<strong>Savage:</strong> Well that chump will be done with the Dungeon of Doom....DIG IT!!!!</p><p>

<strong>Sting:</strong> And the Stinger's got a proposition for you guys as well. You see, an old friend of ours has come back into the game after a big of an absence. And he hates your guts about as much as we do. He's at 110% and ready to go and fighting the good fight. So how about it, Taskmaster. Myself, Luger, and Hawk up against Bubba, Meng, and Zodiac. Winners gain entry to World War 3, and the losers get NOTHING. Because we don't want you anywhere near a World Title shot. And we don't think you want us near one either. And when Hulk Hogan dismantles The Giant, you're going to need a win in that Battle Royal.</p><p>

<strong>Hawk:</strong> Ooooohhh...what a RUSHHHHHHH (B)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Johnny B Badd</strong> is backstage, alone, with a message to send to Jericho.</p><p>

Jericho, we've been going back and forth for quite some time now, and nothing's been settled. At Halloween Havoc, let's finally figure out who the better man is. IF you're man enough. (C+)</p><p> </p><p>

The opening bout is about to start, and the Blue Bloods make their way to the ring. <strong>Lord Steven Regal</strong> grabs the microphone and issues an open challenge for any of the new comers to 'try him' on WCW Saturday Night. (D)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Harlem Heat</strong> def. The Blue Bloods when Booker T def. Eaton by pinfall at the (11:45) mark after a Heat Seeker. (C+)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Stevie Ray</strong>: Terry and Dory, we still haven't forgotten about what you suckas did to us at Fall Brawl.</p><p>

<strong>Booker T</strong>: Yeah, my brother and I know you've got problems with us younger cats holding titles. If you want a shot, you got it. (C+)</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Chris Jericho</strong> def. Hugh Morrus (9:18) by submission with a Liontamer. (D)</p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Okerlund</strong> catches Jericho on the way up the entrance ramp.</p><p>

<strong>Jericho:</strong> Johnny wants to fight. Johnny's a Badd man. OK then. Well let me tell you something, junior. Did you see what I just did to Hugh Morrus? I call that the Liontamer. When I put you in it, I won't hesitate to break your neck. Just a warning, but if you still want to step into the ring with me, that's fine, but you better wear a watch.</p><p>

<strong>Okerlund</strong>: A watch? Why's that?</p><p>

<strong>Jericho</strong>: Oh come on, Okerlund, you can't be that slow. I've seen you with those speedy wheels on the back legs of your walker, Mean Gene.</p><p>

<strong>Okerlund</strong>: Hey, watch it!</p><p>

<strong>Jericho:</strong> Time limit draw, watch. Figure it out, Geno. A joke's not funny if you have to explain it. But it makes sense though. I proved tonight that the Liontamer is No Laughing Matter. Right Hugh Morrus? Haha! ©</p><p> </p><p>

After the commercial, <strong>Okerlund</strong> is backstage for another interview, this time with the Dungeon of Doom.</p><p>

<strong>Taskmaster:</strong></p><p>

Savage, we accept. Sting, we accept. We have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Pure opportunity for the Dungeon--finally a fair shake and a chance to snatch the World Title from Hulk Hogan's grasp. But if I win, Savage, I'm not going to make you take a vacation. In fact, I'll make sure you're working harder than you've ever worked in your whole career. When I win, you'll have to face members of the Dungeon every week on Nitro to get them ready for World War 3. Because mark my words, they'll be in it. (C+)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hogan vs Giant hype video plays.</strong> (B+)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Giant and Ric Flair fought to a draw ending in a double count out. </strong>Arn Anderson ran in to attack Flair, and Hogan ran in to attack the Giant and even the odds. (15:54) (B)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Show rating: B-. </strong><img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

WCW has also signed Chris Benoit to a written deal right off the bat. Jim Crockett could not be reached for comments, but it seems he's found a hole in Ted Turner's pocket. Monday, Week 3, October 1995

Host: Gene Okerlund

Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Eric Bischoff, & Dusty Rhodes

Anaheim Convention Center (9,765)

Preshow: Johnny Layfield def. Joey Maggs by pinfall. (5:43) (D-)

Main Show:

Schiavone: Fans welcome to Monday Nitro! We are 13 days away from Halloween Havoc, and we've got a packed show for you tonight including the biggest televised main event in pro wrestling history, with The Giant and Arn Anderson teaming up to take on WCW World champion Hulk Hogan and the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair.

Bischoff: That's right Tony, it's certainly one of the biggest events ever to take place on cable television, but that's what you should come to expect from WCW. It's where the big boys play.

Rhodes: Ooh, I can't wait to see Flair and Hogan give Anderson a beatin'. Let's get to the action! (B+)

Schiavone: Not so fast, Dusty. First we have Gene Okerlund standing by with Ric Flair. Gene?

Okerlund: Thank you, Tony. Ric Flair, you've had it all. You've had the women, the planes, the money, and most importantly, World Heavyweight Championships. But all of that aside, it's been clear that what you want--more than any of that--is revenge on your former best friend and Horseman, Arn Anderson. Tonight you'll be teaming with the world champ and you'll get your chance to get your hands on Anderson. What are your thoughts on tonight's main event?

Flair: Had? What do you mean, HAD. I'm the NATURE BOY, PAL. WOOOOOO. I'm still stylin and profilin, and I'm still a jet flyin, wheelin' dealin' son of a gun. But now, It's a lot easier without Arn Anderson riding my coattails. I used to go into bars, and the ladies tell me how sweet it was that I took my father out for drinks. I said, "honey, he may look like old man time, but he's not my father. But if you're looking for a father figure, you can call me Daddy. WOOOOOOO!"

Okerlund: That line never works for me... But wait a minute, wait a minute. Aren't you older than Arn?

Flair: You're as old as you feel, Mean Gene. WOOO! I've had my 25th birthday 20 times now, and Space Mountain's still open for business. But speaking of business, I can't wait to get my hands on Anderson. Hogan and I have a long history and will have to put out differences aside, but we'll be fighting towards a common goal. Because Hogan, you know you can't trust Anderson, and I know not to trust anyone with Bobby Heenan in their corner. (B+)

Scott Norton & the Funks def. The Nasty Boys & Sabu (9:28) (C-)

Okerlund interviews Hawk.

Hawk: Dungeon of Doom, I want you to know that I'll be watching tonight's main event, and if you try any funny business you'll have to answer to ME. (D)

Booker T def. Earl Robert Eaton with a Harlem Hangover. (8:12) (C-)

Sting and Luger cut a promo on the Dungeon of Doom.

Sting: We'll be watching tonight's main event, too, Taskmaster, and like flipping a switch, we'll be in if you try to interfere.

Luger: Flair, you've been a friend to us both over the years, and you've been an enemy, too. But regardless, the Stinger and I have the utmost respect for you and what you've done to make this company a contender, and for that we've both got your back. (B+)

Lord Steven Regal def. Dean Malenko (8:43) by Submission with the Regal Stretch. ©

The Main event

After a back and forth contest with Arn avoiding Flair throughout most of the match, the referee threw the match out in the result of a DRAW when Anderson and Flair finally got into a brawl that got completely out of control. (16:15) (B-)

Meng and Big Bubba Rogers hit the ring and jump Hogan. Anderson joins in, laying the boots to Hogan, but keeping his eyes fixed on Flair, who snuck away down the entrance ramp. Sting and Hawk ran past flair to even the odds. The Giant entered the ring, and much to the crowd's dismay, manhandled Sting and Hawk, throwing them outside of the ring. The Giant then pulled Meng and Rogers off of Hogan, but they went right back to putting the boots to the champ. Giant then chokeslammed his (former?) stablemates, and stood nose to nose with Hogan. Meanwhile, Arn Anderson slipped away from the action and escaped unscathed to end the show. (B-)

Overall rating: C+

Wrestling Observer/Figure Four

  • Nitro vs Raw this week: 4.72 and 4.91, respectively.
  • Warrior signed with WWF recently, but we forgot to report it. We apologize.
  • WWF's Paul Levesque has been the recent subject of heated wrestling debates in AOL Chat Rooms, with many naming him the best young prospect in wrestling today. Some are calling him the future of wrestling.
  • Slow news week for us here at the Wrestling Observer. We'd like to point out that Terry Funk has consistently been the star of ECW programming lately and it's uncharacteristic of WCW to allow one of their talents to pull double-duty with one of their rival promotions. Scott D'Amore was recently released for holding positions with both WCW and WWF.

Monday, Week 4, October 1995

Host: Gene Okerlund

Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Eric Bischoff, & Dusty Rhodes

Coleman Coliseum, Tuscaloosa, Alabama (13,426)

preshow:

WCW Television champ DDP def. Hugh Morrus (7:23) in a non-title opening bout. (C-)

The American Males def. Benoit & Eaton (9:27) (C+).

Main Show:

Jim Crockett Jr opens the show with an important announcement.

"We at WCW have been trying to figure out a way to solve the dilemma of the Cruiserweight division, its fallen hero, the late Brian Pillman, and the now vacant title. To me, the two contenders to that title who have made the greatest impact in recent weeks are already wrestling at Halloween Havoc. There's no replacing Pillman, but we have made the decision that there MUST BE a champion. We have decided that Chris Jericho (boos) ... and Johnny B Badd (cheers) ... will fight for more than just their pride and bragging rights at Halloween Havoc. They will fight for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship!" ©

Sting, Luger, & Booker T cut a promo backstage on their upcoming match against the Funks & the Dungeon of Doom in the main event. (B)

Randy Savage & Johnny B Badd beat The Taskmaster & Chris Jericho by DQ when the Taskmaster attacked Savage with a tire iron. Johnny B Badd tried to fend off the Taskmaster, and while he checked on Savage, Jericho grabbed the pipe to hit Johnny B Badd in the back of the head! (C+).

As usual, Jericho avoided Badd throughout the entire match, until now. Most of the match was Taskmaster vs Badd, with Savage making the hot tag. (12:30) (C+)

Arn Anderson squashed Rey Mysterio Jr (4:34) by pinfall with a Spinebuster. (B-)

After delivering more punishment to Rey, Flair came down for the save, but was followed by most of the younger members of the roster, to prevent a fight from breaking out. (A)

Road Warrior Hawk cut a quick promo on the Dungeon of Doom. (D)

Hulk Hogan cuts a standard promo hyping up his match with the Giant.

"Whatcha gonna do, Giant, when Hulkamania runs wild on you?" (A)

Johnny B Badd cuts a promo on Jericho.

"Jericho, I've told you before, I'm a Badd man. You've crossed the line. At Halloween Havoc, this all ends, and I become the new Cruiserweight champion."

Badd throws his cape and blaster gun into a garbage can. He pulls out a match and lights it.

"I guess you could say you lit a fire under me today. I'm no longer content with just beating you and taking the belt. I'm putting you on the shelf."

Badd drops the match into the trash can, lighting his ring attire on fire.

"I'm a bad man, and you've made me a madman. I hope you're ready, because Johnny B Badd is dead. The games are over, so you better be ready to face the Madman, Marc Mero." (B-)

Okerlund interviews Bobby Heenan and the Giant.

"Let's get straight to the point, Gene Machine. That 'whatcha gonna do' baloney doesn't cut the mustard anymore. This isn't 1987, and this isn't Andre the Giant, rest in peace. This is the Giant. He's faster, he's smarter, and he's got what it takes to kill Hulkamania. It's going to take more than hokey 80's lines to take down this 7 foot tall animal. You are looking at the NEW WCW World Heavyweight Champion come this Sunday night." (B+)

The Funks, Meng, & Bubba Rogers def. Sting, Luger, & Harlem Heat in the main event (15:54) when Dory Funk pinned big Stevie Ray with a quick roll-up while everyone brawled outside of the ring. (B)

Overall rating: B-. I'm so proud, yet it still hurt the overall popularity. Argg

Just WCW Saturday Night to go until Halloween Havoc 1995!!

Wrestling Observer/FigureFour

  • Former WCW talent Maxx Payne has captured the WWF European title as "Mad Mountain Rock" at In Your House: Buried Alive. Diesel retained the WWF Title in the main event, against tag champ Yokozuna, and the show was pretty much subpar for a PPV event. (C+ rating)
  • Paul Roma is the new APW International Champion, and I'm not sure why we're even telling you this. Paul Roma? Michael Modest is the new Intercontinental champion.
  • Latin Lover, Pinocho, and Raton are the new Mexican National Trios champions over in AAA.
  • ECW has signed former WCW Champion Ron Simmons to a pay-per-appearance deal.
