TLLK
ROOKIE DOTM: January 2011 http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/KANZEN.png http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/KANZEN-1.jpg KANZEN Pro's "Dark Sixth Day of the Week", November 2010 "Like Nothing I've Ever Seen Before..." Yeah, I've heard everyone's got their KANZEN story. You know, the first time they came in contact with the company...when their style had you drawn in so much that you began to notice the little things that made it tick. And you fell in love with the place. Dr. Seuss once said (and, yes, I know I'm quoting Dr. Seuss...no, I haven't gone off the deep end...yet) that we're all a little weird. I use to call myself the exception to that rule. There was nothing weird about me...I was old-school personified, rigid, never-changing. I was the legend of the indys and could take these new kids to school in a heartbeat. At first, when Walker offered me the position, I shrugged it off. Yeah, being part of the booking committee would've been nice...a chance to call my own shots for once. But my time in-ring was slowly fading away, and I knew I'd be an occasional worker for these guys at best. The action and the intensity would've been my cup of tea back when I was these guys' age...but that was twenty years ago. I had my time in Rapid Pro under Preston and them. But even RPW wasn't like this place. Walker called this place "Seriously Entertaining": a type of company where just being an entertainer like Eisen's got OR a legit machine in-between the ropes wasn't enough...you had to be BOTH. That's right, you had to be able to work your tail off in matches like they do out in Japan AND have that star quality mainstream folks crave. You had to be an all-around professional wrestler, from top to bottom. This place was truly like nothing I've ever seen before. So, here I was, leaning up against the stage/ramp area where KANZEN's guys made their grand entrances on the ground level, watching the action in the ring along with the reaction from the crowd. Everything was so different here. Heck, the fans were different. Mostly younger fans in their twenties and thirties, the modern kind who I thought wouldn't like stuff like this. They were here for the action, the spots, the ring work, I later found out. These were those Internet fans that know all about the ins and outs of the business, who appreciated good wrestling performances more than the talentless bad acting that the big leagues were full of. I'm looking at you, SWF and USPW. Sam Strong, you've done wonders for this industry, but I could work circles around most of your roster, even at my age. Oh, wait, most of your talent IS my age. Sorry. And I've just never been a big fan of what Rich Eisen has come up with. But it sells, and that's all that matters in his business, the mainstream "Sports Entertainment". Call me biased, but the indys are where it's at. Guys like me have a chance to connect with the fans on a personal level and deliver the action that you can appreciate. But I'm getting off-topic. They tell me guys my age are get that way a lot. I mostly ignore them. The point is, besides the young action-craving fans in attendance, I saw a lot of father-young son types. Dads taking their second or third grade kids to their first wrestling shows, giving them an alternative to the usually controversial stuff the SWF has. Protecting them in a way while also enjoying the kind of action they grew up with, being children of the Territorial Era or The Rise of the Indys. And, of course, you had your silly marks, clad in their luchador masks and gripping their replica title belts, screaming with delight and keeping up the "realness" of the business. Gotta love 'em. The fanbase was varied, the roster was varied...oh, man, was the roster varied. You had a handful of "future stars" that were young and boasted the total package that the big companies are looking for...you had a few vets of the Zone out in California, flying their way to stardom...a couple of former guys who used to be in the Big Two, but didn't quite make the cut...some once-in-a-lifetime gems from Mexico...a few complete unknowns...two guys that are more popular in Japan than in the States...a British world-traveler under a new mask...and the world's only Indian wrestler. Yeah, Walker always liked to make quirky comments like that. This place was full of quirkiness. The comedy level was there, but it was subtle and fresh, something rarely seen in the business. The event names were...odd...at times. The promos were memorable and had a new kind of feel to them. They put an emphasis on team wrestling and stables more than individual achievement, which I liked. Something different to shake things up is always good, if you ask me. Yes, even an old-school fogey like me. So here I was, watching the main event match: a ladder match between The Ever-Present Darkness's Acid and The Skye Club's leader. I was totally focused in on the match when I felt someone slap me on the shoulder gently. http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/MontyThePythonWalkerKANZEN.jpg Monty "The Python" Walker The Hometown Comeback Kid Monty "The Python" Walker, a guy who had made his recovery from his drinking and steroid-filled glory days of HGC, had opened up a school in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio and was training the next generation of wrestlers in a region rich with talent, but devoid of any full-time promotions. When no new companies sprung up, he created the Great Lakes area's first promotion in a long time: KANZEN Pro. Now he splits his time wrestling, color commentating, owning, booking, road agent-ing, and training at the budding KANZEN empire he has built near Ohio State's campus. "So, man, how's it look from here?" Walker, the man who was called "The Eighth Shade of Awesome" by Jason Azaria in his Cruiserweight title run out West, had stopped color commentating alongside Remmington Remus and Miss Honey Golightly for just a bit to come and try to nail this down for me. "I've gotta say, Walker...you've got something special going on down here." He smiled at me and turned towards the ring, where Skye was hypnotically darting around the ring while Acid tried to maintain control. "Yeah, I think it's pretty dang awesome." "I just don't think I'm up for this, though...I mean, it's a great offer and all, but it's not for me, is it?" "I think it is. I mean, we need a guy to be a road agent for us, and you've got the experience and know-how to do it. And, the way I see it, I've only got enough time to do four of the things I already do. And you'll fill in with the road agent role and come help me book, you know, give me a veteran presence. I want to stay true to wrestling and not some glorified stage drama." "And you've got the in-ring work to do it. I mean, a place that puts THIS much stock in performance while keeping up with angles and storylines, plus an emphasis on fan connection with great characters? You've got a formula for cult success here." "That's my plan. We're small now, have only run a couple of shows, but I want 2010 to be The Year of KANZEN. We've got a podcast coming soon that will give people tastes of the company, virtually worldwide, and we've got a DVD deal starting then too. I've got some guys working for us behind-the-scenes that used to work for USPW and DAVE, guys that know how to get our name out there. I want this to become a big deal. My plan is to have the most awesome place to wrestle at and watch. "I want to change the course of what people expect in the American wrestling scene. We've got major Lucha Libre influences, Japanese imports, and that cult feel to us...something totally different that'll get heads turning. I mean, we'll lose guys to the big leagues, but that's expected. That's the kind of talent I want here. "And I can't do it alone...I'll end up running myself down in the process. The ball's in your court now, sir. Road agent, booking committee, and being able to wrestle whenever you want to. You just say the word, and we'll get you on the card. Or off of it. Whatever you want. I just need someone like you to come alongside me and keep me heading in the right direction. Someone to change the future of wrestling with. Can I count on you?" And I'm not sure what I exactly said, but I accepted it. Walker's got guts, charisma, and the vision to succeed in this game. That's who I want to work alongside. So that, everyone, is the story of how Mr. Old School himself decided to have a little fun in this business. I know one thing: 2010's gonna be one...AWESOME...ride. Because we are KANZEN Pro Wrestling...Seriously Entertaining Action. http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/SteveFlashKANZEN.jpg -Steve Flash
Guest codey
Very good backstory, can't wait to see the roster in addition to the stables you posted in the preview thread. I can't help but think there's going to be a lone, stable-less powerhouse.
TLLK
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/KANZEN-1.jpg "I've seen nothing like this in all my years of covering wrestling. If you're looking for jaw-dropping action alongside creative characters and memorable angles, all wrapped up in an awesome little package, KANZEN Pro Wrestling is for you." -Jay Danielson, PWHits.com "If you ever have the chance, sit down and talk to Monty Walker. Dude's totally changed from one of the most arrogant party boys in history to a down-to-earth nice guy. After hearing about his amazing second chance at life, he'll soon weave his way into talking about his new love, KANZEN Pro. You'll mark out by the end of the conversation." -Tom "Angry" Gilmore, SWF veteran "I wished I would've had my start in the business right now. Because I'd force myself into KANZEN in a heartbeat. This is the future of pro wrestling." -Chris Caulfield, former DAVE star and current USPW champion "With it's superb mix of athletic action that you have to see to believe and starring an interesting cast that you might end up seeing on Tuesday nights in the future, a ticket to one of hometown hero Monty Walker's KANZEN Pro Wrestling shows is a must-have for wrestling fans and anyone who just wants to have some fun." -This Is Columbus Magazine "After watching some of these guys wrestle, I stopped wearing my Jack Bruce shirt." -Micah Graham, nine year-old wrestling expert from Canton "What? You wanted a quote from me? Isn't that a bit biased?" -Monty "The Python" Walker WHO WE SAY WE ARE We are KANZEN Pro Wrestling. But you probably already knew that. But what does KANZEN mean? Well, "KANZEN" means "perfection", and we like to think of ourselves as wrestling entertainment and action...perfected. KANZEN is the cure for the common wrestling company. We're different. We're the weird kid who sits in the back of the classroom and makes those jokes you don't really understand. But it's okay. We pride ourselves in that fact. We know wrestling is two parts, and most companies do one or the other. It's either unrealistic entertainment or wrestling without the interviews, the open challenges, the taunts, the insane pyrotechnics display that will knock your Grammy's dentures out. We offer the highest level of intense, athletic action that most in this business simply cannot do. We pick the best of the best: the most athletic, the quickest, the hardest-hitting, and the craziest (in a good way...we think). But we also love to have fun before and after the bell. Sound interesting? Good. What style do we use? Well, we like to call ourselves part-cutting edge, part-daredevil, part-lucha libre, part-puroresu, and part-semi tradition all covered in a good helping of nacho cheese sauce. Yeah. Wrestling at it's awesomest, people. Where can you see us? Well, we offer one show a month usually around our home state of Ohio, where you can catch this pro wrestling virus LIVE and in person. You can also watch on-demand footage of our first four shows, all from 2009, here on our website. Also, we're proud to announce that we will be announcing our new DVD deal this week on our podcast, Monty Walker's Flying Podcast. Our first show of 2010, Bring Out Your Dead!, will be live from our hometown of Columbus the third Friday this month. The card will be announced on the next podcast, so make sure you download it on your mobile-podcasting device or watch it here on kanzenpro.com. Tickets are still available for the event. Doors open at 6 PM with bell time at 7 PM. Preliminary costs for the DVD will be $20, and all of our DVDs come autographed by the KANZEN stars themselves! So the question is: Do you wanna be part of the future of wrestling? If so, be a part of the revolution...KANZEN Pro Wrestling. Up Next...Fun With Rosters! SWF Fan
You've got a reader in me; I've had a soft spot for Kanzen since requesting the logo ages ago (I plan to get the Japanese symbols tattooed on me) so anyone that takes 'my baby' and goes ahead with them I have great respect for and will be reading intently. Kick ass pictures too man. Loving the dot style picture base

TLLK
http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/Podcast.jpg EPISODE 2.1 "Biggest _______ Ever!" The first Flying Podcast of 2010 starts with a new opening video package, highlighting the biggest characters and moments from the first few shows in company history. High spots from The Skye Club and Fists of Furry flash on by with some creepy entrances from The Ever-Present Darkness. Los Luchas de Viaje Escuela are shown putting on their masks and each member of The Brotherhood of Perfection is shown individually making someone tap out with the Proton Lock. After a colorful smattering of graphics and fan reactions caught on tape, we fade into the KANZEN Podcast-a-tron 9000 where our hosts are standing by. http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/RemmingtonRemusKANZEN.jpghttp://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/MontyThePythonWalkerKANZEN.jpg Remmington Remus: Helloooooooo, KAN-base, and welcome to 2010's first episode of The Flying Podcast, your recommended daily value of the KANZEN brand of professional wrestling. I'm your neighborhood friendly Remmington Remus, and that's the man with the plan, Monty "The Python" Walker. (to Walker) Mont, let the boys and girls at home know what's coming up in this episode. Monty "The Python" Walker: Remmy, we're SIX days away from our biggest show yet..."Bring Out Your Dead!" Remmington Remus: (in an extreme British accent) I'm not dead...I'm not dead yet...I feel fine...I think I'll go for a walk! Monty "The Python" Walker: Whoa, slow down, Remmy. Contain your not-deadness for a few more minutes, can't walk out on me now. Remmington Remus: Oh. Right. That's right, ladies and gentlemen, Columbus, Ohio, one week from, well, yesterday...KANZEN Pro returns to its birthplace for a monster show, as the first ever KANZEN Campeones de Parejas will be crowned! Monty "The Python" Walker: Muy bien! And it's gonna be a hot showdown as it'll be a four-way battle between the mystic duo of Acid Reign, the fun-loving fliers Fists of Furry, The Skye Club's Jett and Skye, and The Brotherhood's Greg and Matthew Keith. Biggest title in the company, and the first ever winners will be crowned at the show. Remmington Remus: Also, we'll see the mysterious Snap Dragon take on OTA in an interesting semi-main event. We know of OTA's affiliation with The Ever-Present Darkness, but Snap Dragon is a newer signing that hasn't really declared his true intentions in the company...it's gonna be interesting. Just like our six-man tag match for the evening, a KANZEN specialty: the rest of The Brotherhood of Perfection will go up against the zany new alliance of Fire Monkey and The Parasites. Don't miss it! Monty "The Python" Walker: To kick it all off, though, we'll have the "Bollywood Big Shot", Mr. Electricity, go up against everyone's favorite teen idol, Mainstream. Which of these sunglassed sensations will reign supreme in this one? Remmington Remus: You know, Monty, I received a title match and the guarantee that every member of my stable would be in action at the biggest show KANZEN has ever seen...I'd be pretty happy, wouldn't you? Monty "The Python" Walker: Ecstatic! Remmington Remus: Well, that's what I thought...but it seems that The Brotherhood of Perfection isn't quite happy with their draw for "Bring Out Your Dead!" Take a look. http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/MatthewKeithKANZEN.jpghttp://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/GregGaugeKANZEN.jpghttp://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/DavisWayneNewtonKANZEN-1.jpghttp://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/StevenParkerKANZEN.jpghttp://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/NelsonCallumKANZEN.jpghttp://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/KrissyAngelleKANZEN.jpg THE BROTHERHOOD OF PERFECTION Not Too Happy For Some Reason... The KANZEN logo pops up with a quick little guitar riff before we fade into a podcast-exclusive segment with the previously-mentioned Brotherhood of Perfection and their sizzling manager, Krissy Angelle. The five young hotshots stare down the camera backstage before launching into a group tirade of sorts. Matthew Keith starts it off while Krissy stares seductively at the camera. Matthew Keith: Perfection. Every right-minded wrestler strives for it, but few achieve it. Make that FIVE who achieve it. (points at his stable mates and arrogantly sneers) KANZEN supposedly means "perfection", but, without us, this place would be the most hypocritical joint on the planet. 'Cause we are perfection, bound by the greatest move on the entire planet. Greg Keith: But, somehow, that's not good enough for the freaks in charge of this place. How do they treat the best talent they've ever seen or will ever see? How? By throwing us in a four-way tag match?!? We deserve those titles by default, man. (shakes his head, disgusted) But you put us in the ring with some masked freaks and two dudes way too chemically imbalanced to be in a wrestling ring? We deserve better than that. Davis Wayne Newton: And what a-boot us? Nelson, Steven, and I get thrown in the ring with some more masked jokes? A monkey and two freaking bugs?!?!? Steven Parker: (solemnly and somewhat menacingly) A king deserves better than that. Nelson Callum: Shoot...we're supposed to be goin' after this Young Guns Cup everybody keeps talkin' about. How can we, the greatest young talents the world has ever seen, do that if we're too busy babysittin' these losers? Krissy Angelle: But my boys will take these injustices handed to them, and very soon, all the gold in this place will belong to them. Because they're perfect...(looks down at her gorgeous self)...like me. Matthew Keith: It's on, freaks. The Brotherhood will rise. And the only dead being "brought out" will be these hacks we break in half next week. You can bet your life on it. Another group staredown before we fade back into the Podcast-a-tron 9000. Remmington Remus: You know something, Monty? Monty "The Python" Walker: What's that, Remmy? Remmington Remus: I don't like those guys too much. Monty "The Python" Walker: Me neither, man. (chuckles) Me neither. Remmington Remus: But do you know what I don't like WORSE than The Brotherhood of the Similar Haircuts? Monty "The Python" Walker: What's that? Remmington Remus: Knowing that some of these good viewers won't have the chance to see KANZEN Pro Wrestling's biggest show yet, "Bring Out Your Dead!", due to geographical restrictions and rising gas prices! Monty "The Python" Walker: Well, that all changes right now, partner. Remmington Remus: Suh-weet! (fist pump) Monty "The Python" Walker: Because we're happy to announce that from now on, all of our events will be released on DVD thanks to a new deal with the folks at Mark Smart Video. Head on over to their website right now and pre-order your copy of "Bring Out Your Dead!"...right now! Remmington Remus: Twenty bucks a pop, and all of them will come signed by your favorite KANZEN stars. (to Walker) Well, I guess that does it for this week's edition of The Flying Podcast. For The Python, I'm Remmington Remus...(more British accent) We'll see you Thursday. Monty "The Python" Walker: (off-screen) Wait, the show's on Friday! Remmington Remus: Oh. Yeah. (grins at the camera sheepishly) That's right. Got carried away with the references, again...(stands there awkwardly, alone) Well, goodbye then! (hurries off) http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab345/TheLeviticalLawKid3/KANZEN/KANZEN.png ©2010, KANZEN Pro There's gonna be some prediction contest of some kind...still working out the what you'll win and how long it will go at a time. Guest codey
Mainstream vs. Mr. Electricity DWN, Callum, and Parker of The Brotherhood vs. Fire Monkey and The Parasites OTA vs. Snap Dragon KANZEN Campeones de Parejas Acid Rayne vs. Fists of Furry vs. Jett and Skye vs. The Keith Brothers If this diary continues to feature Monty Python references heavily (Maybe Life of Brian next? ) it will continue to entertain. Any hints as to the identity of the Parasites, or do we just not know, like the Colony in real life?

TLLK
Oh dear. I feel like a dork right about now. "Acid Rayne" should be "Acid Reign". I'll edit it when I get home. Drat. So codey gets the Cool Points...and I'm afraid I'll limit myself to Holy Grail for the most part...I'm most familiar with that. I would rather have folks guess the identity of The Parasites AND Black Reign. Hints are in the roster breakdown with the experience, style, and signature move set. Guess away! Guest codey
Aha, I believe I have them! Mite was the easiest, and Reign was easy to get after a quick search, but Flea was a bit tricky, and the only one I'm not sure of.
20LEgend
I know Mite and Reign no clue of who Flea, so same as codey really:p

smurphy1014
Flea's also far too old to be Fire Fly See this is what happens when I make guesses and then read the experience portion of the bios. DOH!
Big Roguey
"Bring Out Your Dead!" Prediction Key Mainstream vs. Mr. Electricity DWN, Callum, and Parker of The Brotherhood of The Wedgecut vs. Fire Monkey and The Parasites OTA vs. Snap Dragon KANZEN Campeones de Parejas Acid Rayne vs. Fists of Furry vs. Jett and Skye vs. The Keith Brothers
Tigerkinney
In Black Reign's profile it says he is a Japanese Junior with Euro influences, my guess is that he is a re-packaged UK Dragon. Mainstream vs. Mr. Electricity I would take a guess that Mainstream is a bigger deal right now. I don't think I've seen a diary where Kashmir Singh in any form has risen above the midcard, but you never know this may be the first. DWN, Callum, and Parker of The Brotherhood vs. Fire Monkey and The Parasites The Brotherhood of the Wedgecut will surely win their first match in this diary. OTA vs. Snap Dragon Isn't this match heel vs heel? I'll go for OTA seeing as he part of a stable. KANZEN Campeones de Parejas Acid Rayne vs. Fists of Furry vs. Jett and Skye vs. The Keith Brothers The Ever Present Darkness will cast their shadow on these belts.
