The Official CWF thread

Recommended Posts

this thread is dedicated to the legendary canadian promotion that dominated the northern border till the emergegence of NOTBW in the mid-80's

i think i'm doing OK until now, but I'm sure I can do better with your help :)

my plan for 1977 is a lenghty feud between the Canadian Wolverines and Frenchie & Jean-Pierre (i want to push them to the moon for obvious reasons :D), and to set-up an epic 2 out of 3 falls between a heel turned Canadian Superstar & Dan Stone at Best of the Best

beside that it's tricky to properly book a show, due to the poor stamina of some workers and the match lenght required (13 minutes minimum, so booking an Opener means penality for either overexposition or match shortness :( ; I know I can modify this but I want to keep the product as it is for now

after 6 weeks, my TV show ranked between 72 and 78, my monthly event 78

I usually book my matches as follows : victor + decisive + open match & slow build (semi-main & main event) + call in ring or script (depends for Psy rating), all out for the opener if possible

i keep ME vs ME UM vs UM, M vs M for the monthly show

so i've problems that bug me :

- I tend to book awful guys for pre-show but it ruins the opener, and i'm wondering how to reduce the quality of the semi-main in order to avoid burning the crowd out for main event, but I'm afraid of lowering the final grade ( I usually put two ME vs UM, sometimes a tag match, with high stamina for a 25 minutes match, to avoid lenght penalty)

- how to effectively phase out the older guys like Wooly "the crap" Steppe (uberpopular and only good to shine in Americrap Pro Wrestling Federation...sorry comradebot :D ) ; I job him twice to midcarders and he is now angry :/ ; I despise him but he is useful to bleed his overness to younger and more talented people

- with Match Intensity at 75% i'm afraid to shorten some careers booking people 5 times a month but most of my main eventers are irritating just for missing ONE show, how can I handle that without losing them?

I'm open to any advices, especially from those who gave a shot to CWF,if there's any :)

<p>I usually lower the expected match lenght regardless of the fed I'm playing for the simple reason of them not getting in the way of my booking strategy. Usually not by much, but some minor matchs default lenghts are too long for lowcarders.</p><p> </p><p>

As for using all your main eventers on all your shows, you could do a few things : </p><ul><li>Match ratio is 90% which means you can still run a few angles. Your fans won't probably like them, but it's still an option to give on-screen time. </li><li>When it's appropraite, use them as guest color commentators. </li><li>Don't forget pre-show and post-show! Don't have anything for Dan Stone this week ? Have him wrestle a young guy in the pre-show to improve his skills. How about a dark main event with the Wolverines beating a couple of thugs just to send people home happy ? It might sometimes be a waste of ratings, but it can be useful. </li></ul><p></p><p> </p><p>

One thing I found out playing the 77 mod it that you usually need to reverse the way you book things. Before PPVs, your big monthly shows will raise your pop in a single area. You need them for the money, but your growth will come from your TV shows. You might have to book stronger TV shows than big events to accelerate your growth to National.</p>
