Dave Prazak joined by Lucas Jeanneret lots of interesting matches tonight here boss most importantly we have Steve Corino challenging for the ROH title.” “Dave we’re partners here in the broadcast booth you can call me Lucas. You are right though we have some big matches tonight, and I’ve been busy all day scouting new talent to make sure that the best young wrestlers in the sport call Ring of Honor home to keep bringing big matches.” “Well interesting news from the owner of Ring of Honor but we have a big night to get underway so we take you to the ring for the opening match.” Mike Quackenbush Vs Xavier One fall match with a 20 minute time limit Xavier looked to have taken James Maritato’s advice to heart as he kept up with Quackenbush very well throughout the match. The match was very back and forth and saw some innovative counters and reversals on the part of Quackenbush. Allison Danger made a few attempts to tip the balance toward Xavier but was stopped by referee Paul Turner who threatened to eject her from ringside. With Danger practically neutralized Quackenbush began to pick up the pace and managed to counter a superkick and trap Xavier in the lighting lock beta which forced Xavier to tap out. Winner Mike Quackenbush by submission at 12:53 Rating D+ Brian XL Vs The Amazing Red One fall match with a 15 minute time limit Red was bound and determined to shut Brian XL up and took the fight to him from the word go. This match was all about fast paced high flying action as each man connected with impressive arial maneuvers. The match began to wind down when Red cut off Brian XL’s springboard maneuver from the apron with a leaping spin wheel kick that knocked him to the floor. Once back in the ring Red scored with the code red and put away Brian XL. Winner The Amazing Red by pinfall at 8:32 Rating D Ace Steel Vs Hydro One fall match with a 15 minute time limit After the disappointing showing from Brian XL Hydro was looking get the rebound for Special K. Ace Steel was himself looking to right the ship as they say following a pair of losses to Xavier. Hydro took te early lead in the match with the Special K staple of innovative high risk maneuvers highlighted by a springboard DDT. Ace wouldn’t go quietly into the night as he battled back and for a period even had control of the match. Ace went for the twist of cain but Hydro fought it off and connected with a leg lariat. Hydro followed up with the dragon suplex and scored the three count. Winner Hydro by pinfall at 13:06 Rating C Londrick Vs The Backseat Boyz One fall match with a 20 minute time limit Both teams want another shot at the tag titles and a win could very well punch the ticket for that shot. Todd Sinclair had trouble controlling things at the start as all four men were going at it in the ring until Paul London and Spanky began to get the upper hand forcing the Backseats to the floor. The match settled down as the backseats used their superior teamwork to isolate and control Paul London. The Backseats worked over London for a long stretch of time before he could break free and tag in Spanky. With the fresh man in the ring Spanky went to work on both Backseats until Paul London tagged himself back in to soon. The Backseats managed to keep Spanky away long enough to hit London with the T-Gimmick and pick up the win. Winners The Backseat Boyz by pinfall at 14:46 Rating C As the Backseats are celebrating their win at ringside Trent Acid grabs the ringside microphone “Saints we’re coming for those titles, we may have lost our CZW belts but that just makes us hungrier for yours.” Trent drops the mic on the floor as he and Johnny Kashmere head to the back. Rating E+ James Maritato Vs AJ Styles One fall match with a 30 minute time limit AJ was making his return to action after nearly 3 months and was showing no signs of ring rust. As usual Maritato looked to keep things on the mat and for a little while AJ was more than game holding his own with Maritato. As AJ began to lose some ground on the mat he quicken the pace and scored with a big dropkick that sent Maritato to the floor. AJ followed Maritato to the floor with a big dive that had the crowd on their feet in appreciation. After returning to the ring it didn’t take AJ long to pt things away with the styles clash. Winner AJ Styles by pinfall at 17:07 Rating C+ -INTERMISSION- Homicide Vs Super Dragon One fall match with a 30 minute time limit Those looking for a catch as catch can classic were out of luck here as Homicide and Super Dragon had quite possibly the most intense hard hitting match in ROH history. Neither man was willing to back down as they are both considered potential ROH title contenders. Each man hit their big moves but jst couldn’t keep each other down. Super Dragon thought he had Homicide out after a brutal violence party and Paul Turner began the 10 count. Homicide made it to his feet by 8 but Super Dragon was ready with a lariat and still only got a near fall. Homicide came back with a west Brooklyn lariat for a near fall of his own. Homicide ended up pulling out the victory after hitting the cop killa. Winner Homicide by pinfall at 20:35 Rating C+ ROH Tag Title Match The Briscoe Brothers Vs The Second City Saints One fall match with a 45 minute time limit The Briscoes were one win away from not only avenging their lose to the saints but winning the ROH tag titles while still teenagers. The Saints were on top of their game while the Briscoes showed off their improvements from the last few months, and in doing so even had control of the match for a period. The Saints showed why they are tag team champions as CM Punk turned things around with a move he calls the PEPSI twist on Jay Briscoe. The champs isolated Jay for a short bit until Mark was tagged in and the match began to break down into chaos. The titles were definitely in jeopardy after Punk was hit with a springboard doomsday device while Cabana was out on the floor. Somehow Punk managed to get a shoulder up before three which caused Jay to signal for the jay driller. Cabana pulled Mark off the apron while Punk blocked the jay driller and countered into a devil lock DDT for a two count. Punk began pulling Jay to the corner and set him up looking for the PEPSI plunge. Jay tired to fight it off but Punk would not be denied as he brought Jay crashing down to the match, and three seconds later the Saints were victorious. Winners The Second City Saints by pinfall at 15:43 Rating C+ With the match over Punk asks for the microphone “Jay, Mark stay out here for a second because I want to tell you two this to your face. Last time we met well to be honest we pretty much kicked your asses. Tonight almost 6 months later you guys gave us one hell of a fight. Now if you improved this much in just 6 months I can’t wait to see how good you both are 6 months from now. If you boys keep improving like this you will be champions here in ROH whether you beat Cabana and I or some other team I look forward to seeing it. Now get in here and shake our hands.” The Briscoes enter the ring but as the do two men charge down the isle and began attacking both teams as Lucas Jeanneret begins to freak out in the broadcast booth. “NO NO NO Damn it this wasn’t supposed to happen.” “Lucas you know these two men?” “That’s James Storm and Chris Harris America’s Most Wanted two of the men I signed this afternoon and they were going to debut on our next show in Boston but they’ve apparently decided to jump the gun” Storm and Harris beat down all four men finishing off with their double team maneuver the death sentence to Jay Briscoe and CM Punk. Rating F+ Bryan Danielson Vs Samoa Joe One fall match with a 30 minute time limit Bryan Danielson had the unenviable task of facing Samoa Joe who has just lost not only his unbeaten streak but more importantly a shot at the ROH title. Surprisingly Joe came into this match in a very calm manner. Danielson went to work on the legs of the big man taking him down with a dragon screw and applying various holds on the appendage. Joe tried to work his strikes and high impact when he could but showed that he was more than capable of waging war on the mat. The size difference between the two began to give Joe an advantage which allowed him to move the match to a more stand up heavy hitting contest. Joe was in firm control of the match after planting Danielson with a STO but Danielson kicked out at two. Joe pulled Danielson to his feet ready to hit with another maneuver when Danielson suddenly grabbed Joe and pulled him to the mat in a small package that scored the shocking win. Winner Bryan Danielson by pinfall at 18:40 Rating C ROH Title Match Steve Corino Vs Low Ki One fall match with a 60 minute time limit With AJ Styles removed from the building Corino came to the ring as c0cky as ever. Corino believed that it was a forgone conclusion that he was winning the title as he told Low Ki to simply lie down and save himself the humiliation. Low Ki gave his answer in the form of a kick to the head and a pair of mongolian chops. Low Ki went on to dominate Corino with his kicks while using his speed and agility to dodge Corino’s attempts to counter. Corino was on the ropes and nearly pinned a few times before a thumb to the eye stopped the onslaught from Low Ki. Corino went on to use every dirty trick he had to keep control of Low Ki even utilizing a hidden boot lace to choke him with. Low Ki made several attempts to turn the momentum around but Corino was ready with some underhanded trick. Corino’s luck ran out when Paul Turner caught him holding the ropes during the abdominal stretch. Corino refused to release the hold so Turner kicked the hand off which allowed Low Ki to hip toss Corino off of him. Ki poured on the offense with a krush kombo and black magic trying to put Corino away. Low Ki locked in the dragon clutch but Corino managed to pull his way to the ropes and get the break. Low Ki sent Corino into the corner and charged in with the tidal krush kick right to the head. Corino crumpled to the mat while Low Ki ascended to the top and came down with a beautiful phoenix splash. Paul Turner made the 1,2,3 and Low pulled out the victory. Winner Low Ki by pinfall at 25:44 Rating C+ Low Ki’s celebration is interrupted by a feed from Christopher Daniels in Japan. “I’ve just gotten off the phone with Allison Danger and I am very disappointed in both Xavier and James Maritato. I left things in your hands because I believed that you were both capable of handling things but as I’ve now discovered that’s just not the case. I will be back in Boston next week and The Prophecy will turn things around with victories mark my words. Mike Quackenbush this brings me to you twice now you have taken on the Prophecy and twice my men have failed but that changes in Boston because now you deal with The Fallen Angel. Mike you and I are known as indy wrestling legends but next week I’ll show you that as good as you are your nothing compared to me. Each man has hurt the other during the corse of this feud and it all comes to a head in just 5 days. Corino is not happy with being forced into this match but has stated that having the chance to finish ending Aj’s career is just enough motivation. This match promises to be a violent affair and definitely not for the faint of heart. </span></span></p><p><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"> The Prophecy left New York City with nothing to show or it and all the way in Japan Christopher Daniels was less then thrilled about it. Daniels made a challenge to Mike Quackenbush a man who has given his subordinates trouble over the last couple of shows and the match is now official. ROH officials have been very impressed by the abilities of Quackenbush since his arrival and a win over The Fallen Angel could be a stepping stone to a potential ROH title shot. </span></span></p><p><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"> Daniels also contacted Ring of Honor about match ups for Xavier and James Maritato. Daniels insists that AJ Styles was not a good opponent to properly showcase the skills of Maritato so now all parties are in agreement that his skills will definitely be showcased against Bryan Danielson. Xavier on the other hand has been booked against Spanky at the behest of Daniels. The Fallen Angel declared that he wanted to give the other tag teams in Ring of Honor a taste of what is to come when the Prophecy decides to come after the tag team titles. </span></span></p><p><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';"> Finally we have a blockbuster tag team match to add to the card with potentially huge title implications. ROH officials however decided to make it a tag team match given each mans normal partners, Homicide and ROH champion Low Ki will once again team up and face the team of Super Dragon and Samoa Joe. In the last videowire you heard from The Briscoe Brothers, America's Most Wanted, The Backseat Boyz, and The Second City Saints and for a good reason as all four teams will be in action on Saturday. The Backseats want another title shot much like AMW who themselves took a page from the Backseats attacking The Saints after a match, they will now be forced to coexist as they join forces to take on The Saints and Briscoes in 8-man tag team action. The Brsicoes want to get their hands on Storm and Harris but how well will they be able to work with the men who defeated them just a week prior. ROH officials would like to congratulate Jose and Joel Maximo The S.A.T. on their recent NWA tag title victory. The new NWA champs will new in action in Boston taking on Brian XL and Dixie of Special K. Brian XL is looking to prove that Special K doesn't need Hydro to be victories after he recently dropped a match to Amazing Red, The S.A.T. on the other hand are sure to be riding a big wave of momentum following their title win. On the subject of Brian XL's loss to Amazing Red he is sending in Hydro to avenge that loss and hopefully prove that Special K is better than the S.A.T. once and for all. Red will be looking to pick up his first win over Hydro having fallen to him back at Tag Wars 2002, and in six man action at Pick Your Poison. In the final match to round out the show two students of the Texas Wrestling Academy will do battle . Michael Shane is the cousin of the legendary Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels but has had trouble finding his place here in ROH. His opponent is normally a tag team wrestler but will be joining his partner in singles action Paul London.
