Hi CHIKARA fans! We are here to announce four more teams who have entered The King of Trios 2011 tournament. We announced yesterday that The Colony, Team Estrogenos, Team Throwbacks and The Neo Solar Temple would all be competing in next months competition, and here are the next four Trios.

Amasis, Ophidian and the returning Escorpion Egipcio are the next team to enter The King of Trios. This exciting threesome will certainly be a lot of peoples dark horses for the tournament. There will definitely be dancing in the streets of Cairo if they win!

UnStable

 

The UnStable where knocked out in the first round last year by team Osaka Pro, and will be looking to make a better show this year. Colin Delaney, Vin Gerard and STIGMA are three hungry young talents that could go far if they can stay focused.

The BDK have released an official statement on their website. They have denied involvement in the attack on Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw at the end of their match with Pinkie Sanchez and Tim Donst. They have categorically stated that if they had intended to interfere in the match they would have done so in broad daylight and would not used the cover of darkness as a foil.

Former Campeon de Parejas Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw team up with Frightmare to make up Team Frightening. The talented trio have two goals in mind, to win The King of Trios, and to exact revenge on The BDK.

The first of two BDK teams comprises of tag partners Claudio Castagnoli and Ares and the massive Tursas. The BDK have been almost unstoppable since entering CHIKARA, and this is perhaps their most deadly combination!

The second BDK team features the new Campeon de Parejas Tim Donst and Pinkie Pink Ant Sanchez teaming with the self replicating creature from the deep Hydra. With two teams in the tournament, The BDK have a great chance of advancing to the finals of this years tournament.

Team Superstars

 

Perhaps the biggest gathering of Superstars in one trio! Stone Cold Sharkboy has come to CHIKARA, and he's brought some friends from Titan towers with him! The one and only C.P. Munk returns to CHIKARA to bring Straight Edge back to town. dragon Dragon (formerly Dragon dragon,) also returns to wreak havoc on all who stand in his way. Could they be our new King of Trios winners?

 

That completes the lineup of this years King of Trios. There are certainly some interesting names in the lineup, and perhaps a few that we expected who haven't made the final cut, surely a testament to the standard of this years tournament. The first round brackets are as follows.

CHIKARA would like to take this moment to offer our condolences to the family of Scott Hall, who was found dead earlier this morning. Scott was a great in-ring performer, perhaps the greatest never to hold a world championship in a major promotion.

King of Trios Night 1: Razor Ramemorial

Attendance: 1,498

 

Match 1: Team Estrogenos vs Team Superstars

 

The first match of the evening is a biggie! Stone Cold Shark boy warms up the crowd with a few of his famous catchphrases as they "WHAT!?" along. Chikarason on commentary points out that now Dragon Dragon is now pronounced Dragon Dragon as he had to change his name when he made it to the big leagues. C.P. Munk is chewing a toothpick in memory of Scott Hall. Despite all their star power, Team Superstars fall foul to their big bosomed opponents.

 

Winners: Team Estrogenos

Rating: 38 (Out of 100)

 

UnStable vs The Colony

 

The crowd in New York are firmly behind The Colony in this one, but it is UnStable who make the brighter start. Quick tags and isolation of the ring keep the rookie Green Ant in the UnStable corner. The Colony eventually make the hot tag, and Fire Ant is like an ant on fire! The Colony set up for The Ant Hill...but Vin Gerard breaks it up and quickly makes Green Ant tap out with the STF

 

Winners: UnStable

Rating: 43

 

The Osirian Portal vs Team 3. Bro

 

Team 2.0 hide behind Brodie to start. They let the big man start the match and he controls it well. The Portal don't seem to have an answer for the sheer power of Brodie...that is, until Apache by The Sugarhill Gang hit's the PA! The Phunky Pharaoh encourages Brodie to join him in a dance off!

Dance Break

 

Afterwhich, Brodie levelled him with a big boot. Oh well. The Portal manage to make the save, and turn the tide of the match in the process. Ophidian picks up the victory whilst Amasis and Escorpion brawl with Matthews and Brodie on the floor. Brodie is clearly pissed off with his partners after the match.

 

Winners: The Osirian Portal

Rating: 44

 

BDK Zwei vs Team Chilly

 

In the best match of the night so far, Team Chilly put on a great effort in the fight against The BDK. Their new tag partner Iceberg, as his name suggests, is an absolute mountain of a man. BDK can't get him off his feet! Even the almighty muscle power of Hydra isn't enough to down Iceberg. Los Icecreams use their tandem offence to great effect and look like they could bloody the eye of The BDK.

 

We should have known better. If nothing else, The BDK are a well oiled wrestling machine, and with Team Chilly starting to feel the fatigue, they take over on offence to dramatic effect. Donst eventually gets the pinfall victory with The Donstitution on Icecream Jnr.

 

Winners: BDK Zwei

Rating: 45

 

After the match, Hydra celebrated in the ring, showing his muscle mass to the fans in attendance. Iceberg came back into the ring and just flattened Hydra with a clothesline, then proceeded to hit him with not one, but two Avalanche splashes. Hydra had to be stretchered to the back afterwards.

 

F.I.S.T vs The Throwbacks

 

A great mixture of comedy and wrestling in this match. Perhaps the best moment involved Al Snow and Chuck Taylor. Taylor went for his trusty invisible grenade, throwing it to the ground at Snow's feet. Snow, channelling the great Wayne Gretzky, reached for his invisible hockey stick, and slap-shotted the grenade back to Taylor, hitting him square between the legs with the grenade!

 

Despite all their comedy hi-jinx, The Throwbacks fell foul to F.I.S.T when Icarus hit The Blu-Ray on Dasher Hatfield.

 

Winner: F.I.S.T

Rating: 44

 

Neo Solar Temple vs Team UK

 

The talented trio all the way from England were perhaps feeling the effects of jetlag, or perhaps Ultramantis had them under a spell, as they were very slow to get started. Sinn Bodhi fit in very well with the temple, and controlled much of the match for his team. Eventually, Team UK began to showcase some of their patented hi flying skills that made them an instant hit with The CHIKARArmy, but it was too little too late, and Ultramantis put Robbie Brookside away with the Praying Mantis Bomb.

 

Winners: Neo Solar Temple

Rating: 39

 

Team Frightening vs KAIENTAI Dojo

 

This was the match that a lot of people came to see and as such the crowd were red hot as the bell rang. Quackenbush and TAKA started to the delight of The CHIKArmy. Back and forth it went, the lucha tag rules keeping the action flowing. KAIENTAI were playing the mandatory heels of course, I mean, they are EEEEEEEEEEEVIIIIIILLL! Team Frightening proved too much for the dojo to handle as the youngest member, Taiji Ishimori fell foul to the Jig n Tonic from Jigsaw

 

Winners: Team Frightening

Grade: 50 (MOTN)

 

BDK Ein vs The Torbellino

 

The Premier team of The BDK against three of CHIKARA's staunchest Technicos proved to be as exciting an encounter as it seemed. Perhaps not living up to the high flying matches earlier in the night, partly because of the involvement of the immovable Tursas, and partly because of the dominating nature of the BDK. Despite the best efforts of The Torbellino, Claudio Castagnoli hits Helios with the Riccola bomb and goes for the cover...

...but here comes Eddie Kingston! Kingston attacks Tursas and Ares at ringside, causing Castagnoli to break the pin and chastise Kingston. Helios rolled out of the ring allowing Hallowicked to become the legal man... Go 2 Sleepy Hollow! Hallowicked makes the pin....1.....2........3! The Torbellinos have done it! The fans are going banana's!

 

Winners: The Torbellinos

Rating: 40

 

Kingston and Claudio brawl to the back as The Torbellinos stand tall in the ring! What a night for The Technicos!

King of Trios 2011 night 1 is in the books and what a night it was! We now know the eight teams that will make up our quarter final lineup. Here are the Quarter final matches that will take place tonight at the Dillon Gymnasium.

Stone Cold Shark Boy goes one on one with The Ice Master Al Snow.

 

Eddie Kingston has requested a match with Claudio Castagnoli after the brawl that concluded last nights main event. Wink Vavasseur, CHIKARA's director of fun, has stated that Claudio will be unavailable for that match, but has given Eddie the chance to take on Claudio's tag partner Ares.

 

Limited tickets are still available for this event.

Hi CHIKARA fans! Welcome to the only podcast to bring you all the CHIKARA news you need in your life.

 

First, some sad news. Al Snow has told CHIKARA officials that he intends on retiring at the end of the month. Al says that he would like to stay with CHIKARA in a backstage capacity but will end his in ring career at King of Trio night three. CHIKARA would like to honour this great ambassador for the sports career by subtitling the event;

 

Snow's Over

 

Al will compete tonight against Shark Boy, and it has also been announced that he will compete in a fatal fourway against Shark Boy, TAKA and Jody Fleisch in his retirement match.

 

 

 

In other news, Mike Quackenbush recorded an interview after his match last night to be aired on the podcast. Quackenbush, Frightmare and Jigsaw were of course victorious in their match against KAIENTAI, but Quack had a message for The BDK.

 

"BDK! So you claim on your website that you had nothing to do with the attack on me and Jigsaw that cost us our Campeones de Parejas? You really expect me to believe that? Who else had more to gain than you? Who, Claudio?

 

You're driving me to the edge, BDK, you're forcing me to take drastic measures, but it doesn't have to be that way. So I'm offering an olive branch to you all. The interference, the tricks, the attacks in the dark...it all stops now. We may never get along, but we can co-exist. Not for me, not for you, but for the good of CHIKARA."

 

The BDK have not yet commented either way on whether they accept the ceasefire or not. The BDK have, however, made a statement on the physical condition of Hydra. Hydra, who was viciously assaulted by Iceberg last night will not be able to compete for BDK Zwei. As such, Wink Vavasseur has allowed The BDK to name a replacement. No word yet on who that will be.

...yeah. I never liked Sinn..except for KIZARNY CAUSE HE WAS KRAIZY. I would have preferred Delirious under control of course.

Tell me more! Are you gonna try and hook up with CHIKARA?

 

I've only been training for 11 months now. So its gonna be at least another year of training before I start lookin', unless some one comes lookin' for me. And we do get guys from WWE, TNA and ROH come by the school. Strykers been to three of the shows since I've been there and D'Von to one since they both graduated my school. Prince Nana has showed up once and I got to train with him which was cool. I'd like to do CHIKARA we run a comedy gimmick now, The Amish Cousins, and we're not big guys so we'd fit in there. But like I said its gonna be awhile unless they come lookin' for me.
