Its great that there are soon gonna be two dynasties on here where Raven is mixing it up with the big boys in the WWF.

I agree, one the most under utilized guy in recent memory, his ECW stuff was epic and would have been nice to see him get a real push in the WWF...But will he ever be WWF champion? IDK stranger things have happened

Luckily the WWF is moving into that "grey" area where there's no clear definition between good guys and bod guys... maybe Raven can be one lof those who really benefits in this new "era"? :p

It could be argued Raven IS the reason the WWF is moving in that direction...

...or I just don't have enough good guys on my roster :o

<p>Jake Roberts...Media Celebrity??</p><p> </p><p>

Yesterday, WWF veteran and current Intercontinental Champion Jake "The Snake" Roberts filmed an in-depth interview with Bryant Gumbel for the HBO series...<em>Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel</em></p><p> </p><p>

Though there were several WWF officials that privately were concerned about Jake Roberts' apperance, by all accounts Roberts was fantastic and did a great job of enhancing the WWF's image. The episode will debut in a few weeks on HBO, below are highlights of the interview...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>Gumbel: "Jake...can I call you Jake?"</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Roberts: "No."</em></p><p> </p><p>

Gumbel: "Right, uhm, Mr Roberts..."</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Roberts: "I'm joking, call me Jake if you want."</em></p><p> </p><p>

Gumbel: "Ok. Jake, you have been in pro wrestling for over 15 years...any thought on when you'll hang it up for good?"</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Roberts: "When I'm dead. And actually I started in the mid-south in 1975, so I've been a Sports Entertainer for over twenty years now."</em></p><p> </p><p>

Gumbel: "You've been in various promotions through out your career, but you are most known for your work in the World Wrestling Federation. How does working for Vince McMahon and the WWF compare with..."</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Roberts: "Actually, Gumball, if you watched the show or read your notes, you would know that Ted Dibiase and Linda McMahon are the co-owners of the WWF. My rather LARGE paychecks are signed by the Million Dollar Man himself. Vince McMahon is an announcer, nothing more. But to answer the question you were trying to ask...The WWF is the grandest stage in all of Sports Entertainment and nothing...nothing...compares to that. I worked for smaller companies while I payed my dues on the way up, hell even this year I was forced to work a stint in WCW, but I've overcome my demons and I am back in the WWF. And that's were I am going to stay."</em></p><p> </p><p>

Gumbel: "Speaking of that, you have been public with your bouts with addiction, and your "finding religion", so much so that you have worked that angle into your WWF character. How do you respond to criticism that you, and the WWF, are exploiting a serious personal matter, and religion, for the sake of ratings?"</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Roberts: "Really? Is that what you think? Like a snake, I have taken a twisted path, to the top and to the bottom and then back again. I have seen things that would make a guy like you cry for your mama...and I survived. The Snake, and the WWF, don't need to exploit anything for ratings. What you see on the TV is real, my man. There is no 'character' Jake Roberts. I am that man...and my religion is part of who I am so I talk about it...do you have a problem with that?"</em></p><p> </p><p>

Gumbel: "No..No...just I have read criticism that's all. Last question...there have been in recent years, several non-wrestling celebrities cross over into the realm of 'Sports Entertainment'. Guys like Mr T., Lawrence Taylor...even William Shattner has been featured recently on WWF's Monday Night RAW. So, any chance of seeing Bryant Gumbel in the ring anytime soon?"</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Roberts: "I think Miss Elizabeth would be more competiton for me."</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

WWF Monday Night Raw

WWF Monday Night RAW

Monday, Week 2 November 1995

Live From the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut

Attendance: 15,000 Sold Out!

Pre-Show:

- Savio Vega (Formerly Kwang) returns to the WWF, teaming up with newcomer Scott Norton. In a short squash match, Vega & Norton defeat Shane Helms & Erin O'Grady. (D+)

- Post Match, Vega gets on the mic and insults the fans, his opponents, Scott Norton and basically everyone who isn't Puerto Rican like him. The crowd is not amused. (D+)

Main Show:

Monday Night RAW kicks off with the bang of pyros from all 4corners© of the arena. The cameras pan around the arena, last lingering on a 20 something, heavily pierced and tatooed fan with a "What about Raven?" sign in the third row. Before we can get to Vince McMahon and Joey Styles at the announce desk.....

The Four Horsemen theme plays and out comes Lex Luger, still carrying the WWF Cruiserweight Belt. Luger is drawing serious heat as he smugly walks to the ring. It takes nearly a minute for the Hartford crowd to stop booing enough for Lex to begin speaking. He smiles and holds up the Cruiserweight Title...

"Like all of the Four Horsemen, it's good to be a champion. But really, I mean in your own way, your all champions here in Hartford. Sure, you'll never be a REAL champion...or good looking like me..or built like 'The Total Package'...or a member of the Four Horsemen...but still, your all champions."

Lex walks to the edge of the ring and points at a middle aged man in the front row wearing a 'Hulk-a-Mania' T-shirt...

"Except that guy, he's not a champion, he's a loser...and that kid there, he'll never be a champion for sure...Oh and you over there you lit...."

The crowd goes CRAZZY as Hulk Hogan interupts Lex's tirade...

"Hogan: "Whoa there BRUTHA'...Not sure you should go around calling yourself a 'Real Champion'...you never even won that belt in a match."

Luger: "I have a belt...you don't...That means I'm better. So Whatcha' Ganna do, BRUTHA?"

Hogan freaks out as Luger mocks him. The crowd is electric as Hogan charges the ring. As he slides into the ring, Luger starts stomping him before he can even stand up. Hogan fights his way to his feet and starts to battle back. As the two trade punches in the middle of the ring, a horde of security and officials charge the ring and seperate the two. As Hogan is being led to the back, Lex stands in the ring and starts doing Hogan's signature poses. As Luger is laughing at Hogan, Linda McMahon appears on the Titantron©...

Linda: "Not so fast Lex. How about before you taunt Hulk Hogan, you face him in the ring...in tonight's main event!"

(Segment: A)

Luger is going ballistic in the ring as we cut the the announce desk...

Vince McMahon: "Alriiiiight Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Monday Night RAW! I'm Vince McMahon and do we have a show for you tonight. There will be a Fatal Fourway main event...well I guess now it's a co-main event."

Joey Styles: "If main event means the main or primary event of the evening Vince, then can there really be two or co-main events?"

McMahon: "... ...Remind me to remind Linda to fire you when she has a free moment."

Styles: "I'm on it."

McMahon: "Anyway, Jake Roberts, Jesse James, The Ultimate Warrior and Raven will face off, with the winner to recieve a future WWF title shot!"

Styles: "And with Ted Dibiase being both the co-owner and the WWF Champion, I'm sure that will be a fair and unbiased match!"

McMahon: "Yeah, now to the ring for our first match."

WWF Hardcore Championship

No DQ Street Fight

Hardcore Holly© vs Kevin Sullivan

Way better match than it should have been, but Holly and Sullivan have pretty good chemistry in the ring. Despite not garnering alot of crowd heat, there is great in ring back and forth brawling action. After several near falls for both men, the match starts to break down. Fellow Flock member Mike Awesome runs in and attacks Holly, only to have Cactus Jack run out to even the odds. Cactus manages to chase Awesome out of the ring at 9:12, giving Holly enough time to hit the Alabama Slam on Sullivan and get the pinfall.

(Segment: B-)

After the match, Raven and Sycho Sid run out from the crowd and make it a 4 on 2 beatdown. Finally, out from the back comes Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior to clean house! We briefly get a Hogan vs Sid staredown in the center of the ring, but the Flock quickly bails out through the crowd. Hogan helps Cactus Jack and Holly to their feet. Warrior shakes the ring ropes. Fade to commercials

(Segment: C+)

Jim Duggan vs Nikita Koloff

Two fading but still capable stars from the 80's bring us a solid but unspectacular match. Duggan gets the win after a Running Shoulder Tackle at the 6:59 mark.

(Segment: C)

After the match, Gary Hart makes his way to ringside with Yokozuna and Vampiro. He orders Yoko, Vampiro and Koloff to attack Duggan, and the trio quickly leave him out cold in the ring.

(Segment: C)

As we head to commercials, we get a hype video for Sports Entertainment's first ever 3rd Generation Superstar:

Rocky Maivia!!

(Segment: D+ <---- Who in the Blue **** is Rocky Maivia?!?)

Back from the break and Ric Flair is making his entrance. He is wearing a crimson and gold sequined robe and is carrying the Million Dollar Title with him, and his shoes cost more than most people's houses. He is followed by his tag team partner who may or may not be the fourth member of The Horsemen...

Ric Flair & H. Hearst Helmsley vs The Sandman & Tommy Dreamer

Solid match, Sandman and Dreamer have a few bursts of offense but really, is there any doubt here? After 6:33 Helmsley pins Dreamer after a Pedigree.

(Segment: B)

We cut backstage and we see Lex Luger leaving his dressing room, now in his ring gear with the Cruiserweight title over his shoulder. Luger starts to walk off but is confronted by WWF Cruiserweight Champion Billy Kidman...

Luger: "Not now Kid, I'm busy."

Kidman: "It's KidMAN...and I want my belt back. Or Else."

Luger: "Or else what?"

Kidman: ".....Just give it back Lex!"

Luger: "Ok, here."

Luger shoves Kidman to the ground, laughs and walks off. A dejected Billy Kidman pulls himself up, turns to walk away and is stopped by John Layfield and...Hercules Hernandez!!! The two are wearing matching shirts with the logo: APA on the front.

Kidman: "Wh-wh-what's the APA?"

Layfield: "The American Protection Agency."

Kidman: "The what?"

Hernandez: "Come here kid...step into our office..."

Layfield and Hernandez lead a confused and intimidated Kidman into a storage room as we return to the announce desk.

(Segment: C+)

Styles: "Wow. I don't know where to start with that just...Wow."

McMahon: "I know, Hercules Hernandez is back in the WWF! It's just one exciting moment after another here in the WWF as we head back to the ring."

Styles: "Yes, as Arn Anderson continues to make a mockery of wrestling history by 'defending' the NWA North American Title."

NWA North American Title

Arn Anderson© vs Harley Race

Good action and good crowd. Last week it was Ric Flair and now the aging Harley Race comes up short against another member of the Horsemen. After 9:13 of good brawling action, Arn gets the win, rolling up Race and grabbing a handful of tights to get the pin.

(Segment: B-)

We get a video package letting the WWF FanNation know the WWF Superstars will be returning to the USA Network, Saturday Nights starting in December!!!

The video package is interupted by...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blwPdfNgtgo

The Hartford Civic Center erupts in a chorus of booos (and a few expletives) as Ted Dibiase makes his way to the ring. He is escorted by his entire entourage: WWF Tag Team Champions Charles Wright & IRS, Ms. Terri and Shane McMahon.

Dibiase: "I will ask that all of the peasants here in Hartford be quiet, as the World Tag Team Champions have something to say."

After an uninterupted minute of boooing the crowd quiets enough for IRS to speak...

IRS: "There's been alot of talk lately about the quality of tag team wrestling here in the WWF. Well I'd like to remind everyone that I am an ELEVEN time tag team champion, both in the WWF and in other promotions...and my partner here Charles Wright is a 300pd tough as nails S.O.B....so right now, the Million Dollar Man and I would like to offer $25,000 to any of the so-called champions in any of the other 'RASSLIN companies to come out and face us in the ring......No takers? That's what I thought!"

It takes another minute before Dibiase can continue over the crowd noise...

Dibiase: "Now, let me get on to the real reason I am out here tonight. I want to speak to a man who has been a thorn in my side for the past few weeks. A callous and foul human being that some of the lesser educated among you appearently consider to be your savior. I am out here to talk to...Raven."

The mention of Raven brings a loud mixed reaction from the 15,000 at the Civic Center...

Dibiase: "Come on out Raven!"

Silence...

Dibiase: "I said get out here!"

Silence...then...

Raven: "Well, well, well. Look who's come a calling...Mr. Dibiase."

A confused Dibiase looks around the arena but can't see where the voice is coming from...

Raven: "Let me guess. Since a man like you is beyond all Retribution, I'll assume you came out to try and buy my loyalties like the rest of the WWF locker room."

Finally, Dibiase spots Raven. A floodlight shines on Raven who is sitting precariously on the gaurd rail of the upper deck of the arena!

Dibiase: "I have to admit, you are one messed up character man. But, just as your right, and I have no use for your 'Retribution', I am sure your twisted self has no interest in money..."

Raven: "Not everyone has a price."

Dibiase: "So I've come out to offer you a deal...at Survivor Series, you and the Flock will face a team of my choosing in a 4 on 4 elimination match. If your team wins...IF...then your good friend Sycho Sid will be reinstated in the WWF."

Raven: "But...?"

Dibiase: "When...I mean If your team loses...then you and your whole Flock are gone from the WWF...forever!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!"

Raven: "I'll take your deal Dibiase. But just to make sure there are no games, no tricks, no antics like last time we met in the ring...I have something for you"

With that the lights go down in the building. After a few tense moments they come back on. Sycho Sid has leapt over the gaurdrail from the crowd and is fleeing the ringside area...with Ms. Teri over his shoulder!!!

Raven: "You'll get her back...after we get our fair match at Survivor Series..."

(Segment: B)

The crowd is stunned, another thunderous mixed reaction erupts, as fans don't know who to cheer, who to boo and many are legitimately offended by the whole segment.

And now a word from our sponsors!!

After the commercial break, we are back at the announce desk with Joey Styles but no Vince McMahon...

Styles: "During the break, I recieved a note, I'll assume from Raven, that informed me that Ms. Teri would never be seen in the WWF again if Dibiase or any of his cronies interfered in the #1 contenders match tonight. If that's true then I guess Raven is a lot more dangerous than I thought. That match is up next, but first, Vince McMahon is backstage with a very special guest."

We head backstage to Vince McMahon. As promised the mystery guest promised last week is the son of a former wrestling champion. He is none other than...Greg Gagne!!!

Gagne informs the crowd that he has been hired in a backstage capacity with the WWF, though he wouldn't rule out the occasional match. Without mentioning the fact that his father owns the third largest wrestling company in the US, Gagne tells the crowd his is honored to be working for the WWF...The leader in Sports Entertainment.

(Segment: D+ <--- Who in the Blue **** is Greg Gagne?!?)

Fatal Four Way

#1 Contender's Match

Jake Roberts vs Road Dogg Jesse James vs The Ultimate Warrior vs Raven

Great action and a good crowd. Each man gets a chance to show off his signature moves (DDTs and Clotheslines aplenty!!) Each man also has several chances to pin one of the others. Finally after nearly 17 minutes of action, Roddy Piper enters the ring, steel chained wrapped around his fist. Piper takes a swing at the "Road Dogg" but misses and hits Jake Roberts instead. The referee forces Piper from the ring as Raven grabs the dazed Jesse James and plants him with the Raven Effect. Raven pins James, while at almost the same time, Ultimate Warrior pins the unconcious Jake Roberts. Referee Mark Curtis pauses for a second then drops and counts 1..2..3. The bell rings and there is confusion, Warrior and Raven are both pleading their case when Curtis raises the arm of the winner....

...The Ultimate Warrior..

(Segment: B+)

Raven and the Ultimate Warrior begin arguing in the center of the ring. Before the dispute can turn physical, Raven turns and leaves the ring. Warrior starts to celebrate, unaware that The Giant and Sunny are heading for the ring. The Giant assaults the Ultimate Warrior from behind. As Sunny grabs a mic, The Giant finishes off Warrior with a choke slam.

Sunny: "It is a travesty that the WWF would hold a #1 contender match without the BIGGEST contender of them all, the unstoppable force, the Giant being involved. Ted Dibiase...Linda McMahon..get used to seeing your wrestlers laid out in the ring like this until you give my man a shot at the title."

(Segment: C+)

Back from the final commercial break, and we head to the announce desk...

McMahon: "I have been informed that referee Mark Curtis determined that the Ultimate Warrior covered Roberts a split second before Raven pinned James, and that is the reason he awarded the bout to Warrior."

Styles: "I don't know, hard to tell from the monitor here...why don't we show the replay on the TitonTron©?"

McMahon: "That footage will be available...next week on RAW!"

Lex Luger vs Hulk Hogan

Luger is out first to a ton of heat. Next out is Hogan to a huge pop. Hogan storms towards the ring, but as he is about to finish his routine entrance he stops cold. In the ring, in an effort to mock him, Lex Luger....RIPS HIS T-SHIRT OFF!!!! Hogan enters the ring and begins pounding Luger. Eventually a blatant low blow allows Luger to take control. The two battle back and forth in a match that has great action and a RED HOT crowd. Finally, after 16 minutes of action, Hogan powers out of Lex's signature Torture Rack and begins to 'Hulk Up'. Sensing the end is near, Arn Anderson and Ric Flair charge out from the back and jump Hogan. The match ends at 16:36 with Hogan declared the winner via DQ by outside interference.

(Segment: B)

Post match, Flair, Anderson and Luger are putting the boots to Hogan when The Ultimate Warrior runs in and fights all three off, saving Hogan from a serious beating.

(Segment: B+)

Post Show:

Shane McMahon makes his way out on to the entrance ramp and reminds everyone that peasants don't deserve free matches, therefore their will be no post show tonight.

Final Rating: B-

(Booker's Notes: Despite the A* popularities of Hogan and Luger, the main event only pulled a B and that may have kept this one at a B-. All in all though a solid show, building up towards Survivor Series)

Nice show, shame the Luger/Hogan Main Event didn't live up to your expectations... but in fairness it's Luger and Hogan, they weren't exactly going to put on a wrestling clinic :p

I liked the Raven segment. For about three-quarters of the segment you had me believing Raven was turning Face, then the ending kept him firmly in that 'grey' area the WWF seems to love so much.

From an entertainment perspective, I think this show is your best yet. Very good stuff. Loved your WCW-ish "attacks" on TNA and AWA. :D

Just too bad about Luger and Hogan, one would have thought such a match would indeed get a better result. But still, had you rearranged some angles and matches, you could probably still have gotten a B. You were unlucky.

Yeah the Luger/Hogan match I had hoped that while limited in wrestling ability, both are A or A* popularity so I had hoped for atleast a B+

Didn't help that my co-main event...wait, let's call it the penultimate match of the night, the fatal four way could have been much better, if all four guys weren't FREAKIN HIGH!!!

Meh, it was the 1990's everyone was a little out there...

Thanks for the praise though guys...it's appreciated

Well honestly... when you put those four together in a room before your show to discuss their upcoming match, what exactly did you expect would happen? Of course they started a small party! :p

Really loving this - especially the commentary from Vince and Styles!

Favourite wrestlers so far are Raven, Sid, DiBiase, and the Horsemen - also very interested to see if Sunny can take the Giant to the top!
