"A handshakes as good as anything you can put on paper, son."

Mr. Bradford's....Stomper's reasoning for not having contracts written on paper as I tried to comprise an overview of the roster. Once I had all the information I needed several things were evidently clear. Subjects that would have to be brought up in my first creative meeting as the new head booker with Mr. Bra...Stomper and Black Hat.

I love the old school style of wrestling as much as anyone else....err, who loves the old school style of wrestling. But one question has to be posed.

How do we maintain the old school style of wrestling with a new school style of wrestler?

Easy: Don't hire the new school of wrestler.

Seriously, though, always a fan of NYCW, will be reading this.

[ooc]Touche, sir...touche! Seriously, thanks for the support guys. First time playing as NYCW so I hope you enjoy. Also, special thanks everyone who does re-renders and alt pics. You guys are awesome.

A few notes from the creative meeting.

FRANCHISE PLAYERS:

Whistler, Steve Flash, Black Hat Bailey

NEXT BIG THINGS:

None

TALK THE TALK:

Roger Cage, Honest Frank

SHOW STOPPERS:

Steve Flash, Honest Frank, Rick Sanders, Black Hat Bailey

RING GENERALS:

Steve Flash, Black Hat Bailey, Rick Sanders

TIME DECLINE:

Whistler, Black Hat Bailey, Lee Wright, Land Mass, Larry Vessey

Owner Goals:

  • Cannot fall into debt at any point.
  • Must not fall below #23 promotion ranking.
  • Cannot hire anyone with a low rep.
  • Cannot hire spot monkeys or japanese juniors.

Thoughts....

The Good: Steve Flash is a great performer who I look forward to using to bring along the up and comers. Guys like Roger Cage, The Shark, and Dazzling Dave Diamond are prime candidates for top spots....if they don't get poached.

The Bad: The majority of our top guys are 5 or more years past their primes. Not much in the way of entertainment skill in the main event scene outside of Whistler and Honest Frank.

The Ugly: Pretty poor in-ring quality overall for being equally rated on performance and popularity. Expected match length too long for the workers involved, from main eventers to curtain jerkers. Virtually no tag team division.

I have my work cut out for me.

NYCW Rush Hour:

Whistler vs Black Hat Bailey© - Empire Championship

Honest Frank vs Dean Waldorf

The Shark© vs Roger Cage - Tri-State Regional Championship

The Ugly: Virtually no tag team division.

I'd take the NoNeck/PWC route, and retire the titles while establishing a new tag-team division, then bring back in a big tournament.

Whistler vs Black Hat Bailey© - Empire Championship

Nothing too shocking on the first show

Honest Frank vs Dean Waldorf

Frank is a top singles guy, Dean is just a tag wrestler. (No offence to tag teams :))

The Shark© vs Roger Cage - Tri-State Regional Championship

Roger Cage on his way out? Normally is so Shark retains

Whistler vs Black Hat Bailey© - Empire Championship

The title is going to Flash soon as Whistler is even older than Bailey.

Honest Frank vs Dean Waldorf

Unlike earlier editions, Frank is actually worth pushing this time

The Shark© vs Roger Cage - Tri-State Regional Championship

Cage is usually take by SWF off the bat....who then proceed to do nothing with him.

Whistler vsBlack Hat Bailey© - Empire Championship

Can't see a first show title change. Bailey still deserts a little run.

Honest Frank vs Dean Waldorf

Frank is one of my favourite workers in the game, let alone NYCW

The Shark© vs Roger Cage - Tri-State Regional Championship

Cage will most likely be in SWF next week. So The Shark ftw.

I'm surprised you haven't used Steve Flash, whenever I play an NYCW game, I can't have a show without him.

Whistler vs Black Hat Bailey© - Empire Championship

I could see someone putting the belt on Whistler since he can go a bit longer in the ring as Black Hat Bailey and is a far better man on the mic. That said, I'm a Flash mark and would rather see him be the one winning the belt from Bailey in the near future.

Honest Frank vs Dean Waldorf

Not even a contest here. Frank is a huge asset for NYCW, while Dean still needs a bit of work. And that doesn't take into account the massive net loss of popularity that you'd get from Dean winning the match.

The Shark© vs Roger Cage - Tri-State Regional Championship

Even easier of a choice than Frank. I've only seen Cage not leave for SWF once in all my time playing TEW '10.

I walked out of the creative meeting with full confidence the boss had my back. Do what I had to do as long as we don’t go into debt. Stay true to the brand. I had a few guys in mind that seemed to be a good fit with our product. A few I wanted to bring in for a look. Rush Hour was in a couple of weeks and I had phone calls to make. My first week I brought in the following guys:

  • The Cannonball Kid – A bit flashy for our product but solid performancer with good charisma. Will go by Amir Rashad.

  • Ant-Man – What’s not to like about this 20 year old. Looks like a star; good charisma and basics. Freakishly powerful.

  • Murderous Mikey – Won’t find himself in much of wrestling role. Hired for his menacing look. Will go by The Muscle and be Black Hat’s enforcer. As long as he’s fine with that and his attitude doesn’t cause any disturbances he’ll be okay.

  • Jonathan Taylor – Only had one referree on the roster.

Taking a Look:

  • Running Wolf
  • Regular Joe

Next thing on the agenda was to set a few locker room rules. No drugs, alcohol, or smoking is allowed backstage. All performers are to show up to the arena three hours early. If you’re not there and you are on the card for that night..you’re no longer on the card. Apparently, these new rules didn’t sit well with several of the performers. I ended up having a falling out with Larry Vessey over the three hour rule.

I felt he was pretty replaceable but like everyone else I also knew about the rumor he would take over once Stomper retired. Checked with Stomper who informed me he had no strong ties to Vessey. Whether he was to take over or not I made the decision to let him go.

I had heard rumblings of other negative attitudes in the back pretaining to Fern Hathaway. I confirmed it with several respected locker room leaders and decided to let her go as well. Terrible charisma and mic skills along with a bad attitude. Besides, I had someone else in mind as Triple D’s valet. Who I needed to call...

Weston Gymnasium</p><p>

January 2010 Wk#2</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Downpour:</span> Hello everyone I am Rock Downpour along side my broadcast partner Herb “Oh So” Stately. This is New York City Wrestling…this is Rush Hour!</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Stately:</span> “Oh So” Stately? You are a true idiot. </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Downpour:</span> What? That’s my thing. I like to give people nicknames.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Stately:</span> Shut up, Rock. The fans aren’t here to listen to you and your terms of endearment. They’re here to see that man, Lee Wright, standing in the ring tear his opponent to shreds.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Lee Wright vs DeAndre Ware</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>The rugged 52 year old vet stands in the center of the ring waiting for his opponent. The much smaller DeAndre Ware comes flying out like a missile. He slides into the ring and is all over Wright before he had time to react. The match was decent and the crowd really got into it. Wright was able to settle D-Ware down for the majority of the match with a ground and pound style. Toward the 11 minute mark Wright makes a fatal mistake by letting D-Ware get some distance when he irish whips him, telegraphs the back body drop. Ware stops on a dime, kicks him in the chest, sunset flip for the quick 1..2..3.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Winner:</strong> D-Ware by flash pin 10:51 <strong>D</strong> </p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Lee Wright is furious as he realizes what just happened. D-Ware is on cloud nine as he leaves the ring playing to the crowd while he makes his way backstage. Wright grabs a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Wright:</span> <em>Get back in the ring! This isn't over! You hear me, punk? Hey chicken sh...i'm talkin' to you!</em></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

D-Ware claps his hands three times with a huge smile on his face as he continues up the ramp. Wright drops the microphone. Puts his hands on his head in frustration. Officials have to escort him from ringside after he flips over the announcer's table. <strong>D-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Dean Waldorf vs Honest Frank</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>In what was somewhat of an anomaly Frank and Waldorf were able to draw the crowd in even though it was obvious they have awful chemistry with one another. Waldorf looked like a credible singles threat as his partner and fellow Tag Team Champion Marv Statler was at ringside. In the end Waldorf was unable to overcome Frank’s…honesty; as he gets the 3-count by using the ropes for leverage. Statler informs referree Michael Bull of what took place. Too little, too late.</em></p><p><em>

</em></p><p>

<strong>Winner:</strong> Honest Frank via pinfall 14:22 <strong>D-</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The fans didn’t know what to make of the next guy to make his way down to the ring. He definitely looks the part with a confident, on the verge of ****y smirk on his face. He gets in the ring and askes for a microphone. Herb Stately tells the official not to give him the mic. Instead Herb gets up from the announcer’s table and enters the ring with one of his own. </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Stately: </span>I'm not going to just stand by and let some you punk come out here and take time away from guys who have been with this company longer. Guys like Black Hat and Honest Frank. Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to just waltz in here like you own the place?</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The young man grabs Herb's microphone hand, pulling it to his face.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Kid:</span>(in a you already know kind of tone) I'm Ant-Man.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Stately:</span> Ant-Man! You gotta be kidding me! Where the h...Did your mommy give you that name kid?</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Grabs the microphone hand once more.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Ant-Man:</span> Do you want to know where I got the name Ant-Man? I'll show you. I want the largest man in the back. The absolute largest NYCW has to offer to come down to the ring.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

After a moment the 400 pounder Land Mass answers the challenge as he comes down to the ring. </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Stately:</span> You've made a big mistake, kid. Big mistake.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Land Mass gets right in the face of the much smaller Ant-Man who doesn’t flinch. After a long stare down Land Mass turns to leave. Ant-Man grabs his arm, Mass turns around to see Ant-Man shaking his finger “no”. Land Mass tries to land a giant haymaker. Ant-Man ducks it, picks Land Mass up in a fireman’s carry. Slamming the 400 lb man hard to the canvas. Stately stands there in shock. Ant-Man grabs the mic...</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Ant-Man: </span>That's why I'm called Ant-Man! <strong>D</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Downpour:</span> Did you see that? That was incredible!</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Stately: </span>I wasn't impressed. </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Downpour: </span>He just lifted a 400 plus pound man. How's that not impressive?</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Stately:</span> One trick pony, Downpour. The way you're all gogo over this kid makes me sick. You are a true idiot.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Roger Cage vs The Shark© - Tri-State Regional Championship</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>What should have been a showcase of future main events to come turned out to be a dud as the combatants had no chemistry what so ever. Coupled with Roger Cage’s announcement that he has signed a contract with SWF. Fans were still into it though as The Shark hit the Ace in the Hole for the pinfall.</em></p><p><em>

</em></p><p>

<strong>Winner: </strong>The Shark via pinfall 16:57 <strong>E+</strong> (makes defense #1)</p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

The Empire Champion Black Hat Bailey comes out for the main event to a chorus of boos. He steps in the ring and awaits his opponent. The sound of whistling fills the arena as Whistler comes out waving the American Flag. The fans give a huge pop as Whistler enters the ring. The National Anthem begins to play as Whistler draps the flag around himself, putting his right hand over his heart while singing along. A minute or so into it Black Hat Bailey leaves the ring to grab a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Black Hat:</span> Cut the music! Cut the music! Turn it off!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The musics fades, boos fill the air.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Black Hat:</span> You’ve got to be kidding me! What a disgusting display! I can’t stomach another minute of this! You parasites cheer for this chump because he waves his little flag around, sings his little anthem. Well, the America I live in looks up to winners, not stinking losers. Last time I checked, Whistler, I beat you for this belt around my waist. So you know what that makes you? A loser, and it makes all these idiotic fans losers by association. And an…</p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Whistler has heard enough. He decks Black Hat with a stiff right hand. Bailey staggers back undoing the Empire title from around his waiste and dropping it to the canvas. The bell rings and the match is underway. <strong>D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Black Hat Bailey© vs Whistler – Empire Championship</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>The match started off as a heated brawl back and forth then settled down as the match was being built slowly. Bailey had complete control as fans looked on in disbelief. Desperately trying to spark the challenger a “Whistler” began that brought new life as the baby face comeback started to take place. Bailey grabbed referree Michael Bull as Whistler catapulted from the ropes. Whistler quickly notices what happened and grabs the ropes to stop his momentum. Out of nowhere a seven foot monster smashes Whistler over the back of the head. Bailey takes advantage clamping on the Bailey Breaker. The ref calls for the bell as Whistler is unconscious.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Winner:</strong> Black Hat Bailey via stoppage 19:44 <strong>D-</strong> (makes defense #1)</p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

After the match is over Black Hat grabs the American Flag from ringside. The seven footer holds Whistler up as Black Hat drives the pole into Whistler abdomen. Whistler falls, Black Hat snaps the flag over his knee before covering Whistler’s face with it. Bailey grabs his Empire Championship from the official and holds it high in the air as he stands over Whistler.</p><p> </p><p>

The jeers turn into a huge pop as Steve Flash slides into the ring. The seven footer attempts a clothesline, Flash ducks, lands several shots to the jaw before clotheslining him over the top rope and onto the floor. Bailey axehandle smashes Flash to the back of the head. Flash staggers to the corner with Bailey following. Bailey’s over confident as he lands a few punches. Taking his time lining up an elbow smash. Flash ducks, Bailey hits the turnbuckle. Flash lands a flury of right hands. As Flash fires up the crowd Bailey takes the opportunity to hit the canvas and roll out of the ring to safety. </p><p> </p><p>

Flash removes the flag from Whistler face kneeling over him as he watches Bailey and the seven footer exit the stage.<strong> E</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;"><em>The Good:</em></span> DeAndre Ware vs Lee Wright was the match of the night given the popularity of both workers.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;"><em>The Bad: </em></span>Shark vs Cage match didn't go over as I thought it would do to poor chemistry note. Oh well, Cage is gone.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;"><em>The Ugly:</em></span> Flash saving Whistler segment received to poor of a rating given the workers involved.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Overall:</strong> D- A successful show</p>

NYCW News and Notes:

  • Went with a last minute name change for Cannonball Kid. Went with DeAndre Ware or D-Ware instead of Amir Rashad.

  • Murderous Mikey, who is the seven footer with Bailey, had a backstage incident at Rush Hour. Wasn't anything involving anyone in particular and it has been handled in what I feel was the best way possible.

  • In the dark matches Land Mass defeated Running Wolf and The New York Doll defeated Regular Joe. Both Joe and Wolf put on better than expected matches.

  • I feel there's a lack of managerial talent out there that would fit our company. We're throwing around the idea of pulling Herb Stately from the commentator's table and giving him a bigger role. That is if we can find the right fit for Rock Downpour.
  • Signed Kammy Ling.
