<p><strong>Mr. Kennedy</strong> vs. Mark Henry - I always enjoyed Kennedy during this time, never much understood what made Mark Henry special other than his size.</p><p>

Matt Hardy vs. <strong>Booker T</strong> - Maybe KOTR can kickstart Hardy's singles career, but I doubt he goes over the then 5 Time World Champion!</p><p>

London & Kendrick vs. <strong>MNM ©</strong> - London and Kendrick are two of my favorite workers ever, but I think it'd be better if they went over MNM on SD! as they did in reality.</p><p>

Chris Benoit © vs. <strong>John Bradshaw Layfield</strong> - I doubt Benoit's reign ends so quickly, but I'm a JBL mark so I'm sticking with him.</p><p>

<strong>Kurt Angle</strong> vs. Finlay - No real reason for this other than Angle being a more over worker.</p><p>

Booker T winning KOTR seems way too obvious but I'm going to go for it anyway. If it was anyone but Angle who is without a doubt the best in the world at this point, I would have picked Finlay to win, I've met him numerous times and he's really dead on.</p>

KOTR Semi: Mr. Kennedy vs. Mark Henry

The pay-per-view began with a match in the semi finals of the KOTR tournament between Mr. Kennedy who has recently returned and the better than ever looking Mark Henry. The match began with Kennedy out pacing Henry and getting the upper hand but after a while, the barely worked Mark Henry fought back hitting a number of his power moves leaving moving awkwardly Mr. Kennedy. Oddly when he did get a break Kennedy tried to do a Green Bay Plunge but could clearly not lift Henry who clubbed him on the back and lifted Kennedy into a World's Strongest Slam, Kennedy made him reel back onto the ropes, but Henry threw him to the outside of the ring and knocked Kennedy out leaving the referee to count the 10 and count out Kennedy even though it could have been more as he simply wasn't moving. KOTR Semi: Matt Hardy vs. Booker T

This match would determine who would face Mark Henry and both men gave each other a challenge with a match that was largely a brawl. Booker T took the early stages of the match and he wouldn't let up with Hardy down on the mat he had very little chance of coming back, but he did, when he reverse a Book End from T into a Side Effect. He couldn't get to the pin quick enough but when both got back to a vertical base Hardy took the rest of the match into his own and finished Booker off with a Leg Drop from the top rope. Rating:

London & Kendrick vs. MNM ©

This match was better than both of the matches on Smackdown and everyone seemed to put more into the title match, which of course makes sense. MNM thought that stepping up their game would stop Kendrick and London, but they were not expecting London & Kendrick's game to take a step up along with theirs. This match went back and forth with both teams having pins broke up at the last second, and the match could have been won many times. The end of the match came when a rejuvenated Kendrick dropkicked Nitro off the apron onto the guardrail and then ducked a shot from Mercury and hit him with a Sliced Bread #2 , in London's corner, as he did the move London tagged himself in and dropped a Shooting Star Press to Mercury and went for the pin as BK kept Nitro out of the ring. Chris Benoit © vs. John Bradshaw Layfield

This match started slowly much to the delight of JBL, who honestly would struggle with Benoit at a faster pace. The match went back and forth with a few holds and power shots from JBL being countered by the vicious throws and suplexes of Benoit. Each man took a lot of punishment in this match and it was very difficult to call between them. As the match reached it's climax, the better conditioned Beniot began to maybe take a bit of an advantage, but that was soon stopped by a low blow when Benoit tried a German Suplex. Chris reeled back enough for JBL to attempt a Clothesline From Hell but Benoit grabbed the arm and locked in a Crossface with nowhere to go JBL tapped out. Rating

Batista cut a promo on Rey saying that tonight he would beat the champion all over the arena, he said he would use every weapon, piece of junk he can find and destroy Rey Mysterio he said that the WHC championship is his and tonight he will be taking his title back, and he doesn't care how much he has to put Rey through to get it.

Kurt Angle vs. Finlay

In this match there was a distinct lack of rules. These two could do anything to each other in order to gain the pinfall or submission. That they did. Finlay and Kurt Angle battled it out in the ring for the early stages but soon after they were all the way up the ramp, they continued to battle, with Kurt Angle climbing up the titantron only for Finlay to recover and get up there with him at about ten feet, Finlay got Angle in an odd, awkward fall back Celtic Cross which slammed Angle on to the steel floor. Finlay still could only keep Kurt down for a two though and the brawl continued with Finlay largely in charge, he took Angle to the edge of the stage and showed him down a huge drop to floor before picking his victim up on his shoulders but Angle slipped out and then ducked a follow up punch from Finlay an hit an Angle Slam down to the floor, crashing into whatever was underneath the black sheet. Whatever it was it knocked both of them out, and with Angle's body draped over Finlay the referee made his way down to these scene resembling a car crash and counted Angle the winner, not that he knew much about it. After the match both men where stretchered out. Rating:

Rey cut his own promo saying that he hold great pride in holding the World Heavyweight Championships and says he will become on of the greatest champions in WWE. He says that he is loving being the World Champion, and is not ready to give it up to a big baby like Batista. Rey then said tonight anything goes and there is no way Batista will be walking away champion or even walking away after what Rey does to him.

KOTR Final: Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry

The final saw two men on the brink of immortality face off in the return of the King Of The Ring final. Both had beaten 3 opponents to get here and would need to beat a forth for the win. As with earlier in the night Mark Henry took a advantage in the early goings, stopping Hardy from using his fast paced, high flying offence by basically overpowering Matt and keeping him within his grasp. It had been quiet a while since he had some offence and a jaded Hardy looked as though Hardy's fight back would be in vein and he simply looked to beaten up to pick the win up. He tried to mount some offence but couldn't get Henry down and when he went for a top rope attack he saw caught by Mark Henry and locked into a bear hug. There was no way out from the grip of the World's Strongest Man and before long Hardy had passed out and the referee called for the bell. Rating:

. Winner:
Mark Henry

After the match Mark Henry would not release the hold until the Throne is wheeled out to the stage, as that happens he throws Hardy to the ground and a huge grin comes across his face, he storms up to the throne and sits in it while the cape is place on him and he is given his staff and crown. The ring announcer says “And the winner of the 2006 King Of The Ring... Mark Henry! Fireworks shoot up from the ramp and Mark Henry stands up with a stern look on his face, looking over his subjects as the King Of Smackdown.

The Undertaker vs. Randy Orton

Randy Orton has been as arrogant as ever in recent weeks and at the start of the match he took the control of the match and he had The Undertaker on the back foot until 'Taker settled into the match and it was very much a back and forth for much of the duration. These two gave each other an excellent match with unbelievable reserve and resilience making this one of the best matches of the year and the crowd were completely behind The Undertaker as he went to hit a Last Ride but Randy slipped down the back of The Undertaker and hit him with a RKO from no where and scored the victory over the deadman but may not have “killed” him. Rey Mysterio © vs. Batista

The main event had a lot to live up to and it quickly descended into a huge brawl, they had quickly fought all the way around the ring and onto the announcers table, until Rey was thrown by Batista into the crowd. The two battled all the way up to the top of the arena and out into the concession stands and the merchandise. Batista continued to take control of the match and slammed Rey through what mostly was his merchandise. He continued to beat Rey until they came back into the arena before heading out again up near the ramp, Rey began to hit back but was still largely contained by Batista until they got back into the ring. Rey kicked Batista out of the ring but when he tried to jump out with a senton Batista went to slam him through the earlier exposed announcer's table but Rey backed him up and grabbed him onto the top rope and flipped back into the ring. When Batista tried to get back in the ring Rey hit him with a 619 to Batista's ribs on the apron and dropped Batista down and Rey dropkicked him onto the outside and he fell into the announcer's table. Rey then hit a springboard splash which smashed both through the table and Rey hooked the leg and pinned Batista to remain champion. Rating:

. Winner:
Rey Mysterio
.

After the match Rey Mysterio after taking a while to recover got his belt handed to him by the referee and started to celebrate his victory, he celebrated with all the fans after his impressive victory as the pay-per-view went of air.

Liked the pay-per-view a lot, laid out very well. I have to say, I'm very interested in Mark Henry now that he has won the King of the Ring, I didn't see that one coming myself.. well, I did think of it for a moment but then convinced myself that if there was going to be a shocker then it would of been Matt Hardy... very shocked with Mark Henry's win.

Looking forward to see what you do with Henry in the future. I guess anything is possible now... maybe world title? I can see it now, World title over his shoulder, Mars bar in one hand and a nice cool strawberry Milkshake in the other!

Also, though I picked JBL to win I'm glad he didn't. Benoit is a way better champion than JBL. Good to see Batista jobbed out too - didn't see that one coming either. I never really bought Rey Mysterio as a champion in real life - more so in 2006, so it will be interesting to see how long he keeps the strap in your diary.

Thanks :) For Mark Henry, I will admit one of the main reason he won KOTR was so he could be King Henry (IX) :o I like the image of Henry but we'll have to see about WHC credentials. Rey is a difficult one to do especially with a big guy like Batista, I hated how the WWE had Rey as champ, he lost a lot of non-title matches IIRC, and I didn't like that, his smashing Batista through a table to get the win just seem more feasible to me :)

Mark Henry as KOTR? Boo!

JK man, good stuff so far.

:D

As for Henry, even though you were joking, it is a bit of a surprise but IMO Booker T was ruined by the gimmick, King Ken Kennedy would be just offensive (I'm no Rhudipoo :p) and the mental image of Matt Hardy as King freaks me out, I just imagine him in his normal attire but with a crown, it looks wrong!

Henry is a big, dull lump of overness, he needs something else to make him less dull, so I think King Henry will at least give him something to do :)

The short trip → ONS

http://www.hoffco-inc.com/wwe/mgs/raw/maglogo-raw5th.jpg

Paul Heyman starts off the show and says he has a blockbuster announcement before he can say anything Mick Foley comes out. He says he's been hearing rumblings all week and he knows what Heyman's announcement is and it is coincidental with Edge and Mick Foley featuring on One Night Stand, and both being on tonight's show and also having a huge announcement. Foley said upon hearing what the announcement was he and Edge quickly got partners. He then told Heyman to go ahead and he did announcing that “A new breed of EXTREME is arising and ECW is returning, to SCI-FI the Tuesday after ONS.” Foley then shocked everyone by then saying his partner was Edge and they said they would challenge any ECW Foley wannabes at ONS. Foley ran down ECW and Edge came out and joined in with the abuse before shaking hands with Foley and producing 2 Hardcore championships, proclaiming themselves the join champion of Hardcore. Heyman said that Foley is a whore and a prostitute and promised he had some suitable opponents lined up, and said they would be seen later. Vince McMahon later confirmed the two would face the Spirit Squad. This was part of McMahon warning the Spirit Squad they MUST win tonight or they will be fired from RAW, he put the others in a handicap match against Shawn Michaels and HHH! Umaga continued his path of destruction beating Eugene. RVD and Cena continued to argue this week and built up to the main event of One Night Stand. Kane beat Scotty 2 Hotty and he was attacked by Fake Kane after the match and The big Show came out to make the save but Fake Kane left before he could get there, he shouted at Fake Kane and checked on Kane who then Choked The Big Show and dropped him with a big chokeslam. Again RVD was featured with Benjamin and Chavo going after the IC champion. Benjamin won when Chavo was hit by the returning Charlie Haas and RVD was distracted by Cena on the stage, gifting Benjamin his title back! Foley then cut a promo on whoever Heyman had lined up as he did Funk and Dreamer attacked him with two chairs and then started there match, beating the Spirit Squad by pinfall, meaning they were fired from Raw. Foley and Edge attacked the ECW representatives. The main event then saw a handicap match DX vs. The 3 other Spirit Squad members. Despite numerous cheating tactics DX won meaning ALL of the Spirit Squad was fired from Raw. After that Vince McMahon ordered the 5 into the ring. He told Mikey, Johnny and Mitch to leave, which left Kenny and Nicky in the ring. Vince told them: “ In 10 days you two will start a new chapter, because you will move as my personal Representatives on ECW. Kenny and Nicky metaphorically s**t themselves and there expressions painted a thousand words. Vince laughed and said “Spirit Squad! You're fireeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!”

The following week started with a heated face off between Mick Foley and Paul Heyman where Foley thanked Paul for being here and said that he pleads guilty to charges of being a prostitute. He said everyone does things they don't want to in order to get to the top. He said the difference between ECW Foley and WWE Foley is that he traded in a pimp like Heyman for a billionaire pimp. He admitted he is guilty, he said what annoys him is Heyman claiming Dreamer and Funk are what Hardcore is about, when he and Edge are and they proved it at WrestleMania. Mick said Paul's ECW army are Foley rip-offs. Heyman came back and said his comments would mean more if they didn't come from a second rate Terry Funk. Foley accepted Funk is he greatest wrestler he ever saw and Dreamer had great heart. But Foley said they didn't have the guts to... Before Heyman interrupted and said “to pull a sock out of their crotch and put it on their hand and make Vince McMahon laugh while was in hospital.” Mick Foley said Paul Heyman hates him, not because he sold out, but because he left on his own. Mick Foley said that most ECW wrestlers left Paul Heyman as a drunk, a drug addict or as a corpse. Paul Heyman told Mick Foley & Edge to pay attention to the "new vision of Hardcore wrestling".... Paul Heyman said ECW was coming back full time and said that he has two draft picks for RAW & SD! Mick Foley predicted that Paul Heyman would pick RVD because everybody knows he's a
High Flier
. Paul Heyman said his draft pick from Smackdown! embodies everything that the new vision of ECW is. Paul Heyman then introduced Kurt Angle who came out and attacked Mick Foley he had a gum shield on that said “Violence”. The World Greatest Tag Team became the tag champions. After that match DX rounded up all of the Spirit Squad and chucked them out of the arena. Umaga's winning streak continued. Vince later told us that he has a lot planned for D-Generation-X in coming weeks but Vince ended up being assaulted by Mark Copani. After Carlito's match he was attacked by Shelton Benjamin and Chris masters but Ric Flair made the save. We also heard Jerry Lawler accept a challenge from Taz for ONS on commentary. Edge then beat The Big Show when Kane came down and attacked Big Show. DX then bit back at Vince by attacking Shane and telling Vince to bring the best he has! John Cena and RVD then teamed in the main event when RVD “accidentally” knocked out the referee and then left John Cena on his own in the ring. Sabu and Sandman then came out and attacked Cena with a chair and a cane respectively, Tomko then hit a Spinebuster on the KO'd Cena and picked up the pinfall. His team mate Kane was then attacked by the impostor Kane.

Smackdown → ONS

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/WWE2006/WWESmackdown.png

“The King” Mark Henry kicked off the show destroying Tatanka in a few minutes. He then took a microphone and Henry renamed himself King Henry, he said as king he is entitled to a title shot, and he called Rey out. Mysterio said Henry can take him on whenever he wants and Henry told him he would let him know when. MNM beat The Mexicools in a no.1 contenders match and Paul London beat Mike Mondo, Mikey of The Spirit Squad who has now moved to Smackdown, he did not have his green costume on and wore silver tights shorts and looked extremely serious. Theodore Long also rand into Heyman backstage. Mitch, still as Spirit Squad, although the only one was beaten by Nunzio. Towards the more major stars Randy Orton said he beat The Undertaker and he is here tonight but The Undertaker is not he said he is confident he has ended the legend of The Undertaker. Batista complained about last night saying that pinfalls should never be outside of the ring. He was interrupted by Mr. Kennedy who told him to shut up and stop complaining. Batista threatened to kick his ass but Kennedy just laughed. In other action, Bobby Lashley defeated John Bradshaw Layfield and told Benoit he should be in line for a US title shot, but Benoit did not respond. In the main event Rey beat Booker T when King Henry came and cause a DQ, he destroyed Mysterio all over the Smackdown arena, smashing him into the ring post and then slamming him through an announcers table!

The last WWE TV show before ONS started with King Henry “IX” calling out Rey reaffirming that he is no.1 contender. Rey came out, but soon was interrupted by Batista who said he should be no.1 contender. Mr. Kennedy then came out and told both the challengers to put up or shut up. The main event for tonight was made Batista & Henry vs. Rey & Kennedy. Chris Sabin then debuted in a losing effort to Gregory Helms despite having the match potentially won had Helms not knock the referee out before Sabin's Springboard DDT. Chavo then challenge Gregory to a match next week. John Bradshaw Layfield then put his name in the hat for a WWE WHC shot. After that, Finlay spoke of how with Angle going to ECW he needs a new person to fight, because he loves to fight. Matt Hardy came out and said he would fight him and a fight he got. Ending with a double count out as the pair fought out of the arena! The Undertaker cause Kendrick to be DQ'd against Randy Orton and the legend attacked Orton leaving a message to the “Legend Killer.” The advertised main event then took place with Mark Henry pinning Kennedy for the victory. The show ended with Batista and Henry beating Rey Mysterio up only for US champion Chris Benoit to split it up, as Kennedy watched but didn't get involved!

The ECW legend was sick of Jerry Lawler's constant jabs at the promotion that made him his name. Will Taz come out on top or will Jerry Lawler prove what he has always said, that ECW is “Extremely Crappy Wrestling”?

Tommy Dreamer & Terry Funk vs. Edge & Mick Foley

This match has come out of Mick Foley & Edge's claim they are hardcore and that anyone else are simply wannabes, Paul Heyman heightened the feud calling Foley a Funk rip off and saying Foley is a whore. ECW representatives Terry Funk and Tommy Dreamer stepped up to the plate and at One Night Stand we will see the 4 of the most hardcore wrestlers go head to head in what is certain to be a brutal match.

Rob Van Dam vs. John Cena

Van Dam won the MITB at Wrestlemania and he set the date of his title shot at One Night Stand. RVD is bringing John Cena in front of what is sure to be a rabid ECW audience. With the WWE title on the line for the first time at an ECW event Rob Van Dam has the hoe advantage but will he take advantage and take the WWE title going into ECW!

This was RVD's time, if John Cena had actually won that match the crowd would have probably rioted lol.
