The Death Of The Supreme Wrestling Federation

Recommended Posts

I'm enjoying this so far - not quite at the level to prompt the death of the Supreme Wrestling Federation thus far but it's a nice, steady build.

First Round:

Ant-Man & The Madman vs. Cal Sanders & Jayson Van Pelt - I'd like to see these two score the win as the somewhat dark horses of the tournament.

Happy Elwood & Alan Parent vs. Brendan Idol & Dermott Ayres - Idol should be the difference-maker, I feel.

Findlay O'Farraday & Mario da Silva vs. Jerry Martin & Regular Joe - Findlay is a monster and will be too strong for Martin and Joe, also hopefully this can be the start of a decent push for da Silva?

Roderick Remus & The Big Problem vs. Rayne Man & Nigel Svensson - As much as Rayne Man is champ, the other team is too strong.

Semi Finals:

Cal Sanders & Jayson Van Pelt vs. Brendan Idol & Dermott Ayres - These two seem like the best candidates to become a regular team. They'd have to score the victory over Ayres of course!

Findlay O'Farraday & Mario da Silva vs. Roderick Remus & The Big Problem - The latter have more name power, as much as I enjoy da Silva and Findlay!

Final:

Cal Sanders & Jayson Van Pelt vs. Roderick Remus & The Big Problem - As much as I enjoy an underdog story or upset win, this pair has more short-term star power.

Keep up the good work!

Indy Report for West Coast

Ryan Sherwood

For the last couple months I have seen the RMW on DVD but with them heading into Oregon this month, a couple hour drive to the coast, I decided to see the promotion live

First we will have Ant-Man &The Madman face Cal Sanders & Jayson Van Pelt. Next will be Brendan Idol & Dermott Ayres versus Happy Elwood & Alan Parent. The third match will be Findlay O'Farraday & Mario da Silva to face Jerry Martin & Regular Joe. The last match in the first round will be Roderick Remus & The Big Problem versus Rayne Man & Nigel Svensson. [25]

Ant-Man & The Madman vs. Cal Sanders & Jayson Van Pelt

The match had solid in-ring action but the 100 plus people really did not seem to care. Ant-Man and The Madman worked well as a team for being the first time in the ring together. The ending came when Cal Sanders got knocked to the outside by Ant-Man, leaving Jayson Van Pelt all alone in the ring. The Madman hit the CodeBreaker (Facebreaker DDT) and got the pin at the 7:52 mark. Ant-Man and The Madman advance to the next round. By the end it seemed like a squash match for some reason.

Brendon Idol & Dermott Ayres vs. Happy Elwood & Alan Parent

The match had solid in-ring action but once again it seemed like the fans could have cared less about the action, well expect for the teenage girls screaming at everything Brendan Idol did. Idol and Dermott Ayres had problems as a team, Ayres really did not want to tag in Idol for any reason. The ending came as Idol tag himself in and hit the Idolizer (Emerald Driver) on Alan Parent. Idol picked up the pinfall at the 8:11 mark. After the match Ayres and Idol started yelling at each other but the team has moved on to the next round. The problems between Ayres and Idol took the attention away from the match.

Rod Remus and The Big Problem interviewed by Remmington Remus

Rod and The Big Problem talk about how it is destiny that they have been chosen to be partners in this match. The belts should just be handed to them without going through this little charade of a tournament. I good little segment and the best promo from the RMW that I have seen so far. [30]

Findlay O’Farraday & Mario da Silva vs. Jerry Martin & Regular Joe

Once again the match solid in-ring action but very little heat from the crowd. Findlay O’Farraday is a best and much bigger in person, Mario da Silva looks like a dwarf standing next to O’Farraday. O’Farraday controlled the attack early, destroying both Jerry and Regular Joe, with some big time power moves, even a slamming Martin on top of Joe at one point. It looked like Martin and Joe had a chance with Silva was in the ring but Silva tag back in the beast when he got in trouble. The ending came as both Martin and Joe got hit with the Atomic Spinebuster. O’Farraday stepping on both wrestlers and got the double three count, to pick up the victory at the 7:48 mark. O’Farraday and Silva move onto the next round. The lack of heat from the crowd hurt this match a little.

Roderick Remus & The Big Problem vs. Rayne Man & Nigel Svensson

The match had decent in-ring action and for the first time the crowd came alive during this match. Rayne Man is the RMW Rocky Mountain Heavyweight Champion, while Roderick Remus is the RMW Northwest Junior Heavyweight Champion. Already some bad blood between The Big Problem and Rayne Man, as Remus and Nigel Svensson started the match, THP and Rayne Man started brawling on the outside. Some good back and force action in the ring but the brawling on the outside made you care less about it. Finally Remus and Svensson join there partners on the outside. The referee tried getting them back into the ring but he had no choice but the count both teams out. The crowd did not like that, booing the referee for that decision. The brawling on the outside took away from what could have been a great match.

Brendon Idol & Dermott Ayres cut a backstage promo, talking about they can work through there problems to win the RMW Rocky Mountain Tag Team Titles. The teenage girls once again screamed when Idol talked. [15]

Ant-Man & The Madman vs. Brendon Idol & Dermott Ayres

The match had solid in-ring action but the crowd seemed too disappeared during the match. Brendan Idol and Dermott Ayres said that there problem where over but once again Ayres would not tag in Idol. Idol finally tags himself in but gets crushed by The Madman. Ant-Man and Madman work over Idol. The teenage girls screamed every time Idol came close to making a tag. Idol hits a flying knee on Ant-Man and then a superkick on Madman but Ayres dropped from the apron and headed towards the back when Idol went for the tag. That allowed Ant-Man to hit the Antidote (Dragon Suplex Pin) and pick up the victory at the 9:09 mark. The lack of involvement from the crowd hurt this match.

Remmington Remus comes to the ring and explains the crowd that the next match will be a three-way tag match to decide who is going to the finals. Since Rayne Man and Nigel Svensson drew with Roderick Remus & The Big Problem, that it was only fair to have an opponent for Findlay O'Farraday and Mario da Silva before the finals. [26]

Roderick Remus & The Big Problem vs. Rayne Man & Nigel Svensson vs. Findlay O'Farraday & Mario da Silva

The match had decent in-ring action and the crowd really seemed to enjoy it as well. Rayne Man and Mario da Silva started the match but that changed to Rayne Man versus the The Big Problem in a hurry. Findlay O’Farraday did not like this and came into the ring, as all three teams where in the ring now. The referee had already lost control of the match. After a couple minutes the referee finally got the teams back to there corner with Nigel Svesson and Roderick Remus now in the ring. After a good back and forth battle, O’Farraday punched svensson, tagging himself into the match. O’Farraday tossed Remus around the ring until Remus tag in his partner. THP and O’Farraday stared at each other for a second then proceeded to pound each other. THP tag back in Remus, as they hit a clothesline, leg sweep combo to knock the big O’Farraday down. Rayne Man tags THP, as THP was still going after O’Farraday. Rayne Man leaps off the top rope with a flying crossbody on Remus and got the surprise three count at the 9:11 mark, as everyone else was paying attention to O’Farraday and THP battle. Rayne Man & Nigel Svensson move onto the finals. Rayne Man is one smart cookie, as he doing a great job getting the fans exciting about him.

Ant-Man & The Madman vs. Rayne Man & Nigel Svensson

The match had decent in-ring action and a good little crowd. Ant-Man and Madman where animals in this match, destroying Nigel Svensson during the early part of the match. Svensson started bleeding from the head after getting thrown into the ring post. The fans were cheering for Rayne Man to get in and it was good to finally see the fans interacting with the match for the first time tonight. Svensson finally got the hot tag, as Rayne Man destroyed Ant-Man and Madman with some big clotheslines and backdrops. Rayne Man hit a big Rayne Fall (Powerbomb Whip) on The Madman but did not see Ant-Man from behind and got thrown out of the ring. Svensson tried to sneak behind Ant-Man but Svensson got hit with the Antidote (Dragon Suplex Pin) instead. Ant-Man got the three count at the 11:01 mark. Ant-Man and The Madman are the new RMW Rocky Mountain Tag Team Champions. The ending hurt the match a little, as the match should have gone longer then it did.

The last two matches were good and Rayne Man is really over with the crowd. Good format in the tournament with random tag teams entering into the tournament. Ant-Man and The Madman look to be the perfect champions for the tag team belts by the way.

BAH! Down with Ant-Man! They should have never made it past the first round! Thats okay, I see for the next card you've kept the team of Cal and JVP alive. This gives me hope. Good show though, overall. Interesting twist in the tournament with TBP/Rod vs Rayne/Sven match. Not at all how I would have expected it but I guess pushing him to the finals along side Rayne is a nice little rub for Svensson.

RMW Trail of Tears is the next card that will be held at the Lincoln Theatre, in Mount Vernon, Washington. -The tears are mine. Over the JVP/Cal loss.

Main Event: Rayne Man vs. The Big Problem (Last Man Standing Match) (RMW Rocky Mountain Heavyweight Title Bout) -Still too soon for a loss methinks. Hes had, what, one defense?

Co-Main Event: Roderick Remus vs. Nigel Svensson (RMW Northwest Junior Heavyweight Title Bout) -Again, too soon.

Match #1: Unlimited Violence (Ant-Man & The Madman) vs. Cal Sanders & Jayson Van Pelt (RMW Rocky Mountain Tag Team Title Bout) -Ugh, pains me to do this but I'm pretty sure UV won't be losing anytime soon.

Match #2: Findlay O'Farraday vs. Regular Joe -SQAAAASSSHHHH!

Match #3: Brendan Idol vs. Dermott Ayres Derm takes it, very likely underhandedly. That'll allow for some build and a bigger payoff when Idol does finally beat him.

Match #4: Happy Elwood & Jerry Martin vs. Mario da Silva & Alan Parent -Interestingly enough, for me, this was the hardest match to call.
