OK guys, I wanna get your feedback on something before I post SNME a little later on.

Pictures.....do you like the current set up of fully showing the pics or would it be better (on load times, page length, etc.) to simply post the image code like this: http://blahblahblah.jpg? I see a lot of diaries doing the latter and while I'm not trying to be like other diaries, I just wasn't sure if readers didn't generally like threads with the pictures fully shown like that.

A lot of you guys have much more experience with this forum than I do, so thought I'd see if in your opinion, it would affect your reader experience one way or the other.

Thanks for all the predictions!

I am generally not very good with forums either, when I started using pictures for my diary it was a mess of a struggle at first, lol. Your setup works just fine for me, didn't even notice you didn't use image links. But I'm on DSL 16k, others with even faster internet will most likely be in the same boat, but how it is for ppl with slower connections I haven't a clue.

So far, so good I would say.

Good deal. I don't really have a problem with them because I think it brings a little more something to the table by actually seeing the competitors as you read it, but wanted to make sure since I don't see a lot of people doing it that way.

Earthquake vs. The Mighty Hercules

Herc is the guy, that helps raise the profile of the guy that just beat him

Akeem vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan

Goin with Hacksaw here... Akeem (too comedy for my taste) One Man Gang (now thats a different story)

TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH

The Honky Tonk Man and Rick Martel vs. The Hart Foundation

More chemistry for harts and better to push the face team with eventual run with Tully & Arn

Haku vs. Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake

Barber (see comment about Akeem)

LEGENDS SHOWDOWN

Andre the Giant vs. Jimmy Snuka

Sorry Superfly

Tito Santana vs. Mr. Perfect

Love the brainbusters so much, that I want to sign them and team them up in my 1983 (now 84) WWF Diary

SINGLES MATCH FOR THE WWF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE

© The Ultimate Warrior vs. 'Ravishing' Rick Rude

Pleae make the change here.... Cant have both titles being held by guys that cant wrestle

MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH FOR THE WWF TITLE

© Hulk Hogan vs. The Million Dollar Man

Since I picked Rude, I'll pick Hogan to retain... But If Warrior wins, can I switch my pick... Cant have to stiffs that cant wrestle holding the titles

For the record... I like pics

Wait you don't see any pictures (like for example in my diary)?

I'm wondering if this could be my computer? Like I see the link to the picture (for example, your first page I see this: http://i454.photobucket.com/albums/qq267/Harmor666/TEW/TNAImpact.jpg) but I don't see the actual Impact logo without clicking on it and then it opens up a new tab.

I guess what I meant was that on mine I see them naturally on the page without having to click to view it. Perhaps this is like a cookies thing on my browser or something? Sorry if this is confusing haha. Again, I'm kind of dumb when it comes to stuff like this.

Yeah, that has deffo to do with your browser settings/ad blockers or so, because I see pictures in every diary that has them.

WWF SATURDAY NIGHT’S MAIN EVENT - Week 2, Sept. 1989

VM - Welcome everyone to Saturday Night’s Main Event! And ladies and gentlemen, you are looking live at FleetCenter in Boston, Massachusetts. I’m Vince McMahon alongside Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura and what a night this should be!

JV - No doubt about it McMahon. We’ve got a WWF title match tonight where I personally think we’re gonna see the Million Dollar Man take the belt off of Hulk Hogan.

VM - Well that’s certainly one man’s opinion.

JV - And it’s the only opinion you need.

VM - We’ve also got an Intercontinental title match with the Ultimate Warrior finally getting a chance to get his hands on ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude. Not to mention the Tag Titles are on the line as well!

JV - What a night this is gonna be McMahon. I can feel it in my bones!

The Hart Foundation vs. The Honky Tonk Man and Rick Martel

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=BretHart18.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/BretHart18.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=jimneidhart2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/jimneidhart2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=honkytonkman.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/honkytonkman.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=rickmartel5.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/rickmartel5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: A hot start for The Anvil in this match, as he was bursting at the seam to get his hands on whoever started the match for the bad guys. Anvil began to wear down though and turned it over to Hart, who did a lot of the work against Honky and Martel. Honky gained a late advantage over Hart after Martel sneaked around and hit Anvil from behind with the atomizer. Martel then brought it in the ring against the refereee’s orders but accidentally hit Honky with it after Hart got out of the way. Hart then sent Martel to the outside with a clothesline and hurried over to pin Honky for the three count.

WINNERS: The Hart Foundation at 10:37 (70)

VM - And that’s why it’s hard for newcomers to the tag team circuit to pick up victories against established teams!

JV - Just a simple stroke of bad luck there for Martel and Honky.

VM - Well the Hart Foundation are on a roll right now here in the WWF and they keep on moving up tag team rankings Jess.

JV - Even I can’t say a whole lot bad about this team McMahon. Anderson and Blanchard better look out.

VM - They’ve gotta get through Demolition first though. But that match is coming up a little later on. Let’s get back down to Howard Finkel at ringside!

Earthquake vs. The Mighty Hercules

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=earthquake.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/earthquake.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=hercules2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/hercules2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: It was clear to the fans as soon as these two men stepped in the ring that Earthquake’s strength would be the difference. The youngsters tried hard to root on Hercules, but every time the mighty man tried to mount an attack, Quake simply sent him to the mat. He controlled the entire match with Jimmy Hart shouting instructions on the outside, and a big splash ended it less than five minutes in.

WINNER: Earthquake at 4:15 (53)

JV - What an impressive performance by the Earthquake! This man means business. I don’t see how anyone could stop this guy.

VM - There’s no doubt that his power is something that a lot of wrestlers simply can’t match.

JV - Hercules had no chance in that ring tonight. Or any other night for that matter.

VM - That remains to be seen Jesse, but it’s time for another big guy to make his way to the ring, as Akeem is ready to do battle with Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

JV - I’ll tell ya where Duggan can stick that 2x4 McMahon.

VM - Oh give me a break!

Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Akeem

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=jimduggan3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/jimduggan3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=akeem.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/akeem.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: A very physical match as these two tough guys went to work on each other from the get go. A lot of haymakers traded in this one, with both men seemingly having an answer when their opposition tried to mount a serious attack. Duggan finally managed to get a little control late and sent the big man to the mat after three clothesline attempts. He immediately got in the three point stance, but Slick got up on the apron. Duggan went over and nailed him with a hard right to send him down. Unfortunately, he turned right into a huge front suplex and then the 747 Splash to give Akeem the victory.

WINNER: Akeem at 6:20 (63)

VM - What a victory for Akeem!

JV - That was managing at its’ best McMahon. Slick took one for the team and his man got the win.

VM - Slick will have himself a nice shiner tomorrow as Duggan really hauled off and nailed him.

JV - You gotta do what you gotta do though to help your wrestler and that’s exactly what the Slickster did!

VM - He certainly lent a hand there Jesse. But we’re just about set for another big match. Let’s hear what Mr. Perfect had to say earlier on about his upcoming bout with Tito Santana!

Mr. Perfect - “Tito Santana…..(laughing). What makes you think that you can step into the ring with someone like me. Someone, well, perfect. Because see Santana, while you‘ve been out there beating up on a bunch of old geezers, I‘ve been challenging the likes of Rowdy Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan. So you see Santana, you‘re nothing more than another not on the ol‘ belt for Mr. Perfect. I‘ve got bigger things to focus on than you." (laughing) (83)

Mr. Perfect vs. Tito Santana

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=CurtHennig3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/CurtHennig3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=titosantana4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/titosantana4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: Perfect put on a show here, as although Santana got off to a fast start, the self-proclaimed perfect one controlled much of the match. The Genius used his work on the outside to slow down any attempts for Santana to get meaningful offense in, and in the end, Santana’s attempt to hit a hard lariat failed as Perfect ducked it and then hit the Perfect Plex to get the win.

WINNER: Mr. Perfect at 8:11 (71)

VM - Yet another win for Mr. Perfect, Jesse.

JV - This guy can’t be stopped in singles competition. I mean, why would he be? The man is perfect.

VM - He’s far from perfect Jess, but there’s no doubt that he’s on a massive roll right now here in the World Wrestling Federation, and I’m not sure who’s gonna stop him.

JV - What do you mean he’s far from perfect? He’s Mr. Perfect, McMahon. He’s the definition of perfect. Go read a dictionary or somethin’.

VM - Whatever you say. Well folks, don’t turn that dial, as we’ve got more excitement on the way!

JV - Haiku with Haku?

VM - Not quite, Jess.

Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake vs. Haku

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=brutusbeefcake3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/brutusbeefcake3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=haku.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/haku.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: An entertaining match with a different flow to it. Most of this match was spent with Haku using sleeper holds and headlocks to try and wear down the energetic barber. Beefcake eventually had enough though and made one final push to try and take control. He had all of the advantage when Haku tried to stop it with the Death Grip, Beefcake got out and hit a body slam and then the knee lift to score a quick 1-2-3.

WINNER: Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake at 6:14 (60)

VM - Well that one came out of nowhere, as the Barber looked to be down and out!

JV - Brilliant strategy by Haku but he simply couldn’t slow down Beefcake enough in the end.

VM - Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan doesn’t look too happy Jesse, that’s for sure!

JV - That’s OK, McMahon. He’s got the big fella coming out next to take on Snuka. He’ll feel better in about five minutes or so.

VM - You seem quite sure of that. Let’s take a look back at some of the career highlights for both of these men in this upcoming showdown!

- A video plays hyping the history of Andre the Giant and Jimmy Snuka. It shows past highlights for both men that have cemented their legend status, and then a tale of the tape showing the massive size difference between the two. (86)

Andre the Giant vs. Jimmy Snuka

<a href="

http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=andre.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/andre.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=JimmySnuka2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/JimmySnuka2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: It looks like the confidence from The Body and The Brain was warranted, as Andre didn’t have a whole lot of trouble in this match. The main theme was Superfly trying to simply knock the big man off his feet, but despite the raucous crowd cheering him on and trying to push the strength into him, Snuka became too winded after all of the failed attempts to send him to the mat, and Andre grabbed his cross body attempt and used the Bear Hug to put Snuka out of commission.

WINNER: Andre the Giant at 5:59 (76)

JV - I told you McMahon! Andre made quick work of the Superfly!

VM - I guess you were right about this one. I don’t say that very often.

JV - Sure you do. You’ll say it again after our next match. Deal with it McMahon!

VM - That at least cheered The Brain up for the time-being, but he’s still got plenty of more work to do tonight with the champions of the Heenan Family about to be in action. Let’s send it to the back and see what the champs have to say!

Arn Anderson - “You see this tag belts right here? Of course you see them right here, Demolition, because you don’t have them! And after our match, you still won’t have them. You had your shot and it’s time for some new challengers. So when the dust has settled and the Brainbusters are still the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team champions, you two circus acts are gonna move to the back of the line! Ax…..Smash…..one more shot. That’s all you get. One. More. Shot." (80)

Demolition vs. © The Brainbusters - WWF Tag Team Championship Match

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=ax.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/ax.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=smash.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/smash.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=arnanderson3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/arnanderson3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=tullyblanchard.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/tullyblanchard.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: The Bostonians couldn’t contain themselves during this one, as their love for Demolition was off the charts throughout the entire match. Ax and Smash fed off of this and had the champs reeling several times, with close two counts. Arn and Blanchard were able to gain some control late, but Ax made a hot tag to Smash, who came in and cleaned house. Smash sent Blanchard down and out to the outside and signaled for the Demolition Decapitation. But in a panic on the outside, Blanchard quickly hurried and grabbed one of the title belts and slid it into the ring to Anderson who was staggering to his feet. Blanchard then engaged Ax and ,eanwhile, the referee was occupied with Heenan on the opposite apron. Anderson grabbed the belt and then stunningly, threw the belt to Smash who caught it in a confused manner. Anderson fell hard to the mat, faking as though Smash had hit him with the belt. The referee turned around and saw the belt in Smash’s hand and looking at Anderson on the mat, quickly disqualified the challengers.

WINNER: Brainbusters retain by disqualification at 11:10 (80)

- Afterwards, Demolition tried to plead their case to the referee as the boos flowed throughout FleetCenter, but it was to no avail as the Brainbusters walked off pointing to their heads and patting themselves on the back for outsmarting their opponents.

VM - Demolition just got robbed of the WWF Tag Team titles!

JV - They didn’t get robbed, McMahon. That’s a felony. They simply got outsmarted by the best tag team in the World Wrestling Federation!

VM - Someone needs to get out here and show that referee the video footage! Smash never even touched Anderson with the belt!

JV - Well that would mean a lot if you were the actual referee of this match, but you’re not. Your opinion doesn’t matter at this point.

VM - It’s not an opinion! It was clear as day that Anderson fell to the mat without being touched!

JV - That’s why they’re called The Brainbusters. And that was Demolition’s last shot at the belts! Don’t forget about that McMahon. What a perfectly executed gameplan!

VM - I’m disgusted that a title match had to end that way. It’s not right!

Mean Gene Okerlund - “Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, you’ve had a run of bad luck here lately and it was evident that you were not very happy after your loss to Rick Martel last night on Superstars. What is going on?”

- Roberts looks to be in a complete daze and doesn’t even acknowledge Okerlund’s presence. He walks off without a word.

- We see a camera shot directly on the abdominal area of ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude as he stands with a smile on his face as the camera zooms out.

Rick Rude - “The time has come, Warrior. You just got a good look at what brings each and every one of the ladies out there to the arena. But unfortunately, after tonight, they won’t get to get a good look at them when I walk down the aisle. And you wanna know why, Warrior? Because I’ll have your Intercontinental belt around my waist when I leave Boston tonight. And that’s a guarantee.” (86)

<a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=ultimatewarrior.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/ultimatewarrior.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/?action=view&current=rickrude2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/TheBlake/rickrude2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Match Notes: As soon as the Warrior came running down the aisle and into the ring, this match had a championship feel to it as both men knew what was on the line. The Warrior was the aggressor early on with series of punches and kicks that sent Rude scurrying to the outside multiple times in an effort to regroup. Both men began to wear down at about the 10 minute mark, with Rude gaining a major advantage by locking in the Full Nelson. Warrior battled out though and went zooming off the ropes, but Rude ducked and quickly ran to grab Warrior from behind. Rude pushed him off the ropes and rolled him up with a school boy…..and a handful of tights with the referee blocked from witnessing it. 1...2...3. We’ve got a new Intercontinental champion!

WINNER: Rick Rude wins the Intercontinental Title at 12:47 (72)

- Rude went over and grabbed the belt afterwards with the Warrior in a fit of rage on the inside of the ring. Heenan was ecstatic, pumping his fists and pointing at the Warrior. Rude started to quickly make his way up the aisle with Heenan by his side. The Warrior jumped out of the ring and then went into the back chasing after Rude.

JV - We’ve got a new IC champ, McMahon!

VM - With a little help from the Warrior’s trunks!

JV - How many times do I have to say it. You do whatever it takes to win. And if your opponent can’t counter it, then they don’t deserve to win the match.

VM - Well I’ve gotta believe that The Ultimate Warrior isn’t going to take this lying down. We haven’t seen the last of this feud!

JV - Maybe not, McMahon. But the roles have changed. Rude is the champ and Warrior is the challenger now!

VM - I can’t deny that. But let’s send it backstage where another challenger is waiting!

Ted DiBiase - “Hulk Hogan, there‘s already been one title change tonight, but that‘s nothing compared to what is about to happen to you. Everyone wants to see it. They want to see the Million Dollar Man take that belt right off of your waist! You know that I love my money, Hogan. And I‘ve used it quite well before tonight‘s match. I‘ll do whatever I have to do to win the WWF title so get ready. Because the million dollar era is about to begin in the World Wrestling Federation!” (laughing) (100)

Match Notes: A fantastic match with the crowd on their feet most of the match in anticipation of the Hulkster shutting up the Million Dollar Man. Hogan had control early, but a poke to the eyes sent DiBiase into an offensive phase for several minutes. DiBiase caught off guard with the Million Dollar Dream out of nowhere, which sent the crowd into a frenzy fearing that the champ might be beaten. But Hogan powered out and then hulked up. After hitting a few punches and then setting up for the Big Boot, Mr. Perfect came running down the aisle and jumped up onto the apron. Hogan came over to spat with him, and DiBiase recovered and came running for a clothesline. Hogan quickly moved out of the way and threw DiBiase right into Perfect who went flying off the apron and into the guardrail. A stunned Million Dollar Man then turned around and got the Big Boot. Hogan then went off the ropes and hit the leg drop for the pinfall.

WINNER: Hulk Hogan retains the WWF Title at 14:38 (88)

- After the match, Hogan celebrates in the ring and allows a few small Hulkamaniacs into the ring with him to pose. (86)

VM - Hulkamania is still runnin’ wild right here in FleetCenter!

JV - I did not see this coming, McMahon. I thought for sure that the Million Dollar Man would find a way to end the reign of red and yellow!

VM - Well that’s not happening tonight Jesse, as Hulk Hogan is still the World Wrestling Federation champion!

SHOW RATING: 77

An enjoyable read to be sure, but I'll go on record of saying I did NOT like the title change to Rude. As much as I love me some Rick Rude and think that him holding any championship is a good thing, Warrior had literally just won it back from him the month previous. Quick title changes like that just didn't typically happen back then, yes this isn't technically 1989, but it left me a bad taste. And especially given that it happened damn near the same way that Rude won the belt from him the first time, via some form of cheating.

That aside, which is excusable given that you're trying to make your own mark in your game, I am liking what I see so far and shall continue reading.

Thanks for the nice words on the diary. And yeah, the problem is that I don't necessarily remember a lot of the buildup or events leading up to the start of this mod and am essentially starting with a blank slate where I'll pretty much just refer to the history that I've built as the game progresses. So for example, I won't bring up something that happened in March of 1989 unless I'm using it as a storyline hook. That's why there was no mention of any type of Warrior-Rude feud previous to my first show, because I felt it was better to start fresh with everyone.

And to go non-kayfabe for a moment, let's just say that there are some major underlying factors that might send Warrior to the unemployment line if he doesn't get his act together ;)

LOL! Well, send him to some college to have him hold a speech, sit back and enjoy :p ... That aside, I think you have it pretty much down tbh, if you consider the title change a hiccup because you didn't know the history notwithstanding, especially with your OOC note I can pretty much understand it.

Haha now that would be entertainment. As for the history though, I probably should have made that more clear in the opening in that I would basically be utilizing the momentum and stars that had been built up at that point in 1989, but wouldn't necessarily use historical moments leading up to that to fuel any of my storylines.

I feel like that if I do too much research and know everything completely that it'll make me want to push more towards what happened in reality vs. creating my own experience as to how I would have used everyone at this particular time in history.

I know Beejus was just making a simple statement, but I do feel like I could have explained that more in the opening post.

You're right as a diary in my book isn't supposed to be a recreation of historical events but a history you as the writer create yourself.

Good show! Even if most of my guesses were wrong I do have a suggestion though, just put the wrestlers names under their pictures. I mean I haven't had a problem recognizing anyone yet but I don't know everyone who has ever wrestled and it might make it easier on those who didn't watch wrestling at this time. But I'm loving this diary and will continue to read.

Hadn't even thought about this. I've went back and edited with the names put in. Thanks for the suggestion!

A coherent interview with the Warrior??? ZOMG you're managing what no one ever got done :p ... Although truth be told, when he said "HULK HOGAN .. I AM GOING TO HIJACK YOUR HULKAMANIA PLANE AND CRASH IT INTO PARTS UNKNOWN" I had a mark out moment back then. Well I was 15 >_< so don't blame me, lol.
