Underground Pro Wrestling... Here Comes the Underground (c-verse)

Recommended Posts

It was Christmas 2009 and a young man was at crossroads. J.R. Rose, part time rock star and part time pro wrestler had come to the conclusion that he had to choose between his two loves. He loved playing a guitar for a band and their had been quite a few bands over the years, even with him only being 21 years old. He loved performing in front of a crowd and hearing them get into it. Of those bands a couple did find some success but it was mostly relegated to being local success. They never broke out and became something truly special.

J.R. Rose

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/JRRose.jpg

On the eve of the new year, J.R. Rose, walked out of a Hollywood pawn shop having sold most of his gear as it had been decided that he was going all in with the wrestling business. Which brought the young wrestler to another crossroads. He wanted to be part of something special and he certainly had his options. CZCW the promotion closest to him had offered him a spot and even a couple of promotions in Mexico had shown him interest. These options were tempting but in Rose’s mind they had the problem of already have been established and while they still had the potenial to turn into something special, he wanted to be at the center of that.

So maybe in the shadows of Hollywood, J.R. Rose, would launch his own wrestling promotion. This would allow him to be at the center of what he believes could be something very special even if the road to that point could be very long, but well worth it. It was at this point that Rose’s mind was made up. He would take his meager savings and embark on a journey where himself and others like him would have a promotion to call their own. They would have a place to create something special.

Rose began making calls with contacts he had in the business to put his plan into motion. By the time the first weekend of 2010 had rolled around a new website popped up, herecomestheunderground.com. The very first sign that Underground Pro Wrestling was up and running.

The first weekend and the second week of 2010 was a whilrwind for J.R. Rose as he made phone call after phone call to talent as well as places to secure a ring and for now one Championship belt. As he secured a roster, Rose than began putting together the plan for those talents that agreed to come work for him. Along with the roster, he secured a few working agreements that Rose figured would come in handy later.

As the roster was finalized by the second week, Rose targeted the last Saturday of January to hold the first ever Underground Pro Wrestling show. For the record the first official wrestler signed to uPw other than J.R. Rose was Alistair Shufflebottom.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/AlistairShufflebottom_haloed.jpg

Not the biggest signing and probably shrugged off by most fans but Shufflebottom was eager to break into the United States wrestling scene and saw the upstart uPw as his chance. Rose was happy with his initial roster as it featured a collection of talent from the U.S., Canada, and a couple of lucha’s from Mexico.

Looking over the first uPw Roster, Rose began putting together an 8 person tournament to crown the first ever uPw Champion. It was decided that one match of the tournament would headline the card each month until the tournament concluded with the first champion. Why only one tournament match per card? Simply to ease the costs as his meager $2,500 funds wouldn’t go all that far and some of the talent in the tournament cost the promotion a bit more to use. The shows would be dubbed Quest for the Gold right until the show that featured the final round for the belt.

Next post, the tournament is revealed as well as the first card for Quest for the Gold I…

Saturday Week 4, January 2010

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/upw.jpg

uPw Quest for the Gold I

The Simmons Center

South West, United States

Attendance: 41

We go ringside to join Remmington Remus and color commentator, Phonse Lockett.

Remmington- Welcome to the Underground! Tonight marks a historic occasion as it's the first Underground Pro Wrestling show and tonight the quest for the gold begins as Thomas Morgan will face Mark Smart in the first round of the tournament for the uPw Championship and that will be tonight main event. Can you feel the electricity in the air tonight Phonse?

Phonse- What? There's like 12 people here. How much electricity can 12 people generate?

Remmington- Actually we have a little over 40 people here tonight and they are will be the foundation on which the uPw fanbase will be built upon.

Phonse- I hope you're right because I need this gig!

Remmington- Anyway back to the wrestling, in addition to the tournament...

Phonse (interrupting Remmy)- Hey isn't you're brother in the tournament?

Remmington- Why yes he is, Phonse.

Phonse- You must be proud.

Remmington- Sometimes. Back to the wrestling now, Phonse.

Phonse gives an apathetic shrug.

Remmington- Alright, in the first and only first uPw match will see the young Canadian, Alistair Shuffle take on one half of Cash Funk, Malik Cash with Streetz in his corner.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/MalikCash.jpgw/http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/Streetz.jpg vs. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/AlistairShufflebottom_haloed.jpg

Malik Cash w/ Streetz vs. Alistair Shuffle

If you were looking for a classic match to open the history of Underground Pro Wrestling, this wasn't it. The two did show enthusiasm as they flew around the ring trading off some flashy moves that were a bit awkward all told. The crowd cheers very little as neither wrestler was probably even heard of until they walked out for the match. The finish comes as Streetz distracts Shuffle, allowing Cash to take down Shuffle and hit the young Canadian with the exciting Cash Drop.

Result: Malik Cash wins by pinfall in 10:33

Match Rating: F+

Remmington- Malik Cash scores the first "victory" in uPw history. Write that one down as someday that will be the answer to some trivia.

Phonse- Sure it will Remmy.

Remmington- Nice confidence, Phonse. Up next we will see the uPw founder J.R. Rose in action against a man known for gamblin', Nathaniel Ca$ino. Both men will be part of the Quest for the Gold tournament and will hope to enter it with a victory.

Phonse- My money's on Ca$ino, mostly because that's who he told me to pick or else.

Remmington- Speaking of Ca$ino here he comes to the ring with microphone in hand. Looks like we're going to here from him before this match kicks off...

Nathaniel Ca$ino climbs into the ring to a few boos from the 41 people as a few actually know who he is.

Ca$ino- Thank you for the warm reception. Its nice to be known. Next month I get my shot in the Quest for the Gold tournament but tonight I face another wrestler in that tournament, J.R. Rose.

Ca$ino pauses a moment.

Ca$ino- Who? That's exactly what I thought when I saw the card for this show. If I were a betting man... Oh yeah, that's exactly what I am. I would go all in on myself tonight and in this tournament. That's right I'm gonna be the first uPw Champion and tonight I run this J.R. Rose scrub out of uPw.

Segment Rating: F+

Remmington- Confident.

Phonse- I like it and I know I'm going all in on him for champ!

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/JRRose.jpg vs. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/NathanielCaino.jpg

J.R. Rose vs. Nathaniel Ca$ino

Despite the crowd being dead for most of the contest, this match was everything that the opener wasn't. Not everything but it was a solid match as Ca$ino worked Rose over most of it while letting the crowd know he was the better wrestler. Rose made an exciting comeback but it was all for not as Ca$ino hit the Double or Nothing to gain the victory and momentum heading into the tournament.

Result: Nathaniel Ca$ino wins by pinfall in 15:11

Match Rating: E+

Phonse- All right!! I knew Ca$ino would do what he said he would.

Remmington- Congrats to him for the victory and I'm sure he's feeling confident about going into the tournament now.

Phonse- I bet Mr. Rose isn't.

Remmington- Now we have a taped interview that Thomas Morgan did in preparation for this event and his first round tournament match.

We cut to a shaky almost fuzzy shot of Thomas Morgan sitting in a gym with a ring set up behind him.

Morgan- 35 years old. That isn't exactly old but in this business it certainly can be, especially when you've been around the business and haven't really achieved much even though you spent your entire career trying your hardest. To this point my biggest accomplishment is being a 1992 graduate of the House of Stone. I was trained by some of the best wrestlers that have ever stepped foot in the ring in the Stone family and I'll I've done is failed the legacy they have carved out by attaching my name to their school.

Morgan takes a deep breath and grins.

Morgan- I get asked all the time after someone finds out where I was trained, well what titles have you won? My answer is none. Than they ask me again if I was really trained by the Stone family and I try to convince them that I was. I'm pretty sure they don't really believe that I was. Now I know I may come off as bitter that I've never really had a solid shot, but I'm not. No, I'm realistic and that's why I signed on here to compete in Underground Pro Wrestling. I signed here because when wrestling fans and its historians look back on my career I want to see that Thomas Morgan's legacy was built not only on the back of being trained by the Stone Family but that I helped build a young wrestling promotion into something special. That I helped build uPw into a giant. I believe I am more than capable of this. I'm also here for something a bit more selfish and that is to be uPw Champion.

Morgan stands and the camera abruptly shifts up to keep up with the Canadian wrestler.

Morgan- At uPw Quest for the Gold I, I start my quest along with uPw and we will both end up on the top of the wrestling world.

The scene fades away...

Segment Rating: E-

Remmington Remus- Stirring words from Thomas Morgan and in moments we will see the driven man in action against Mark Smart in the first round of the uPw Quest for the Gold Championship tournament.

Phonse- What a hack!

First Round of the uPw Quest for the Gold Championship Tournament

Thomas Morgan vs. Mark Smart

While not a great match it wasn't horrible and it was quite a bit different from the rest of the show as these two are known more for their technical abilities in the ring rather than high flying like most of the uPw roster. Holds are traded back and forth most of the match with neither man gaining the upper hand. Until the final couple of moments when it looks like Mark Smart may have Morgan wore down. But a counter later and Morgan has Smart tied up in the STF and crying uncle.

Result: Thomas Morgan wins by submission in 16:08

Match Rating: E-

Remmington- Thomas Morgan makes Mark Smart tap and moves on to the second round of the tournament and will face either Nathaniel Ca$ino or Ant-Man. Pretty good for a hack, huh, Phonse?

Phonse- Whatever Remmy.

Remmington- We'll be back next month at the same time and same place for Quest for the Gold II. Check herecomestheunderground.com for details on the show.

uPw has announced the final card for uPw Quest for the Gold II

- Alistair Shuffle returns to face the other half of Cash Funk, Jazz Funk. Shuffle looks to get a measure of revenge as he was cheated at Quest for the Gold I by Malik Cash and Streetz. Will he be able to achieve some revenge against Jazz Funk? Or will the members of Cash Funk both hold a victory over Alistair?

- In the semi main event two wrestlers make their debut to uPw. Running Wolf will take on Mega Mite in a contrast of size and styles. Will Mega Mite be able to upend the proud Native American, Running Wolf? Or will Running Wolf prove to be too much for the insect?

- The Main Event will feature a first round tournament match as Nathaniel Ca$ino who is coming off a victory at the first Quest for the Gold show will face Ant-Man who will be making his debut for uPw. They say Ant-Man is amazing and Ca$ino thinks that he is. Who will prove to be amazing and move on to face Thomas Morgan in the second round of the uPw Quest for the Gold Championship Tournament?

- Only one way to find out. Join uPw for its second show at the Simmons Center Saturday, February Week 4, 2010.

uPw Quest for the Gold II

The Simmons Center

South West, United States

Attendance: 48

We go ringside in the dimly lit Simmons Center and join the duo of Remmington Remus and Phonse Lockett.

Remmington- Welcome to uPw Quest for the Gold II. We have a solid crowd here to watch all the action that uPw will supply.

Phonse- Solid crowd!?! I think these are the same people that were last time. In fact I’m almost sure there’s at least a couple of these people like they live out back in the alley. They probably suck in to get out of the rain.

Remmington- How can you say that about the fans?

Phonse- It’s easy really.

Remmington- I’m sure. Tonight we will find out the second wrestler to move on in the Quest for the Gold Championship Tournament as Nathaniel Ca$ino will take on the debuting Ant-Man. First up however, Alistair Shuffle take on the other half of Cash Funk and try to avoid the same result this month.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/AlistairShufflebottom_haloed.jpg vs. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/JazzFunk.jpg w/ http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/Streetz.jpg

Alistair Shuffle vs. Jazz Funk w/Streetz

This match was fairly similar to the opener to last month’s show as it was not exactly pretty, but for a promotion the size of uPw it was an acceptable performance from the two young wrestlers. Back and forth for most of the match and just when it looked like Alistair Shuffle was going to be able to put Jazz Funk away Streetz was able to distract Shuffle. Up to this point Shuffle was able to keep an eye on Streetz but with the distraction Funk ended up hitting a Free Form Flow and get the pinfall.

Match Result: Jazz Funk wins by pinfall in 11:25

Match Rating: F+

As Alistair Shuffle recovers in the ring Malik Cash comes running to the ring.

Remmington- This doesn’t look good for Shuffle.

With Streetz directing traffic Cash Funk continue to attack Shuffle. When they have Shuffle on the mat both Malik Cash and Jazz Funk take turns hitting their finishers on Shuffle. Shuffle looks out of it as Cash Funk and Streetz make their way to the back after finishing the assault.

Segment Rating: F-

Remmington- What a heinous attack on Shuffle by Cash Funk. I’m sure this won’t be the last time we see Cash Funk and Alistair Shuffle in the ring. Up next we see two debuts in uPw as Running Wolf takes on Mega Mite.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/RunningWolf.jpg vs. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/MegaMite_alt.jpg

Running Wolf vs. Mega Mite

Like the opener it’s not a very good match, but for uPw it’s not too bad. Running Wolf uses his power to overwhelm Mega Mite for most of the match. Mega Mite uses his quickness to stay ahead of Wolf for the most part and keeps the match fairly even though no one really thinks Mite can upset Wolf. That changes when Ultra Flea comes down to the ring and with the ref’s back turned he hits a spinning heel kick that stuns the big man. Flea quickly exits and Mite capitalizes by hitting the Paralyser and scoring the pinfall and the victory.

Match Result: Mega Mite wins by pinfall in 13:53

Match Rating: F+

Remmington- Mega Mite scores the win thanks to an assist from Super Flea.

Phonse- Who let these bugs in here anyway!

Remmington- For some reason the two don’t seem to be leaving.

In fact Mite and Flea jump over the guardrail and stand as if they are fans.

Remmington- What is this about?

Phonse- I have no idea but here comes Ant-Man for the Main Event.

Ant-Man enters the ring and Mega Mite jumps back over the guardrail and rolls into the ring and gets into the face of Ant-Man. From behind another masked wrestler hits Ant-Man from behind.

Remmington- That’s Super Mantis! And now here comes Ultra Flea and the trio seems to be attacking Ant-Man.

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/UltramantisBlack_jhd.jpg

Indeed that is the case as the three beat down Ant-Man and lift him to his feet just to do it all over again. They work Ant-Man over until Mega Mite hits his Paralyser finisher on Ant-Man. The trio scatters as Nathaniel Ca$ino’s music hits and he walks onto the stage.

Segment Rating: F

Remmington- Here comes Ca$ino for the Main Event but with Ant-Man in the shape he is I don’t see how the match is going to go on.

Phonse- Who cares? More importantly I believe we just saw the first shot fired in the Bug Wars!

In the ring Ca$ino calls for a microphone as he looks down at the fallen Ant-Man.

Ca$ino- I told ya all last month to put your money on me. I told you I would beat that loser J.R. Rose and I did. Listen to me again, I’m telling you now I’m winning this whole thing and will be the first uPw Championship.

He pauses to look down at Ant-Man.

Ca$ino- I mean look at my opponent tonight. He can barely stand. I’m thinking the odds are in my favor tonight. Not only tonight but all the way until I hold that uPw Championship in my hands. Now let’s get this match going.

Nathaniel Ca$ino vs. Ant-Man

What was expected to be an absolute squash due to the events leading up to the match was anything but. Ca$ino decided to try to slap around Ant-Man and then get a quick pin but Ant-Man kicks out and starts mounting a comeback. The crowd shows its disapproval for Ca$ino as they get behind the rather unknown Ant-Man as he catches fire. They go on to have the best match of the night and Ant-Man is unable to come all the way back and Ca$ino hits the Double or Nothing and get the pinfall.

Match Result: Nathaniel Ca$ino wins by pinfall in 12:43

Match Rating: E-

Remmington- Ant-Man made it interesting despite being jumped before the match but Nathaniel Ca$ino is moving on.

Phonse- Ca$ino is going to make me a truckload of money when he wins this tournament.

Remmington- Join us next time as we continue the Quest for the Gold.

uPw has announced the final card for uPw Quest for the Gold III

- After a attack on Alistair Shuffle from the duo of Cash Funk, Streetz has issued a challenge for Shuffle to find himself a partner and face Streetz' team of Jazz Funk and Malik Cash. Who will Alistair get to team with him? Will whomever he gets help him finally score a victory over Cash Funk?

- Also last month another attack happened on Ant-Man at the hands of Mega Mite, Ultra Flea, and Super Mantis. herecomestheunderground.com has learned that the trio is collectively known as The Infestation and wants to rid the wrestling world of Ant-Man and than take over uPw. Can Ant-Man score a win against Mega Mite or with The Infestation be too much for him?

- We've already seen two men advance in the uPw Quest for the Gold tournament and this month we will see a third as two more wrestlers make their debut for uPw as a lucha sensation, Extraordinario Jr. takes on Roderick Remus. Extraordinario Jr. isn't well known north of Mexico but he's known as an exciting young luchadore in his home country and he now looks to make a name for himself in the United States. Roderick Remus sets out to show up Extraordinario Jr. and move closer to winning the uPw Championship. Who will move on?

uPw Quest for the Gold III

The Simmons Center

South West, United States

Attendance: 49

Like before we join Remmington Remus and Phonse Lockett at ringside. Remmington has an excited smile on his face as Phonse just looks grim.

Remmington- Welcome to uPw Quest for the Gold III, where tonight we find out the third man to move on in the quest for the uPw Championship in a match between Extraordinario Jr. and Roderick Remus.

Phonse- Hey, you’re brother is wrestling tonight. Has to be strange calling his matches.

Remmington- You’re actually right for once. It is a bit weird and sad at the same time. Would love to be back in that ring.

Phonse- Sure you would.

Remmington- But enough about me and my family. Let’s get to our first match of the night. Cash Funk issued an open challenge to Alistair Shuffle to find a partner and we understand he has indeed found one. Who could it be?

Phonse- If only it could be you, huh, Remmy?

Remmington- Stick it Phonse. Here comes Alistair to the ring. Who’s his partner going to be?

Out from the back comes….

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/DonteDunn.jpg

Donte Dunn!!!

Remmington- Donte Dunn has arrived in uPw! Question now is can he help Alistair beat Cash Funk? Or will the members of Cash Funk score another victory over Shuffle?

Phonse- He could have brought out Rip Chord to be his partner and Cash Funk would still beat Shuffle!

Cash Funk w/ Streetz vs. Alistair Shuffle and Donte Dunn

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/MalikCash.jpg&http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/JazzFunk.jpgw/ http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/Streetz.jpg vs. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/AlistairShufflebottom_haloed.jpg & http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/DonteDunn.jpg

Cash Funk seem thrown off by the arrival of Donte Dunn, who is the biggest man in this matchup. For most of the match it doesn’t matter who is Shuffle’s partner as Cash Funk cut Shuffle off on their side of the ring and work him over. Sometimes using blatant cheating right in front of Chad Brent who warns them time after time. Shuffle finally fights back and gets a tag to Dunn, who proceeds to clean house. Streetz tries to get involved but Shuffle takes care of him. Dunn gets the pinfall on Malik Cash to score the win for Shuffle and himself. Thanks to Dunn the match quality went up a bit with his involved.

Match Result: Alistair Shuffle and Donte Dunn win by pinfall in 12:11

Match Rating: E-

Remmington- Donte Dunn scores the pinfall in his uPw debut and helps Alistair Shuffle get a little bit of payback. I’m sure Shuffle won’t be satisfied until he’s the one getting the pinfall over Cash Funk.

Phonse- Maybe he should be a man and do it himself than.

Remmington (shaking his head)- Up next , Ant-Man tries to get revenge on Mega Mite as him and the Infestation beat Ant-Man down last month and may have cost Ant-Man his chance to move on to get a shot to be the first uPw Champion.

Phonse- What’s with the bugs?

Remmington- Here comes Mega Mite to the ring and he has a microphone in hand.

Phonse- Great, the bugs are going to talk now?

Mega Mite climbs into the ring to a slight boo from the crowd.

Mega Mite- Ant-Man. There just isn’t enough room in Underground Pro Wrestling for you and us. The Infestation has only begun and you, Ant-Man are the first of many that will fall and be swept aside. We’re the future of this business it’s just a matter of time until we’re at the top where we belong. Tonight Ant-Man, I finish what we started last month!

Segment Rating: E-

Phonse- What we really need is an exterminator! Get rid of all these pests, including Ant-Man!

Mega Mite vs. Ant-Man

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/MegaMite_alt.jpg vs. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/Ant-Man_alt5.jpg

Mega Mite proves to be quite a bit quicker than Ant-Man and tries the hit and run approach throughout the match. When Ant-Man catches up with Mega Mite though, we see the near amazing strength of Ant-Man as he tosses Mega Mite around like a rag doll. The match shifts back in Mega Mite’s favor as Super Mantis runs out and attacks Ant-Man. Ant-Man fends off the attack though and quickly turns his attention back to his opponent. An Antidote later and Ant-Man scores a victory over Mega Mite.

Match Result: Ant-Man wins by pinfall in 13:36

Match Rating: F+

Remmington- Ant-Man gets the win despite interference from Super Mantis. Up next we will see Roderick Remus take on Extraordinario Jr. with the winner moving on to round 2 of the Quest for the Gold Championship Tournament.

Phonse- Remmy’s brother in action next!

From the back comes Roderick Remus to the ring, accompanied to the ring by Willow. Roderick has a wide smile on his face as he steps into the ring and calls for the house microphone.

Rod Remus- In case you people don’t know who I am, I am Roderick Remus. I’m the Hot Rod of uPw, the only reason you should be buying tickets to see this place, and it took them 3 months to feature me on the show? What is management’s problem? You know in fact from here on out, you can refer to me as ‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus, the star of the show. Soon to be the first ever uPw Championship. Tonight is my first step, when I beat Extra… something or another Jr. Here’s some advice to my opponent tonight, first get a real ring name. Something a bit simpler to say. Secondly, stay in the back and go back to Mexico, because you don’t want to be embarrassed tonight I am sure. That’s exactly what’s going to happen if you step through those ropes and face me here tonight. Absolute embarrassment. Then I, Hot Rod, will move on to face the rest of these jokes in this tournament and embarrass them too as I move closer to being the first uPw Champion. One last thing, uPw management, listen up, don’t ignore your star. Make sure I’m on your show and they will come. It’s that simple! Now Extra Jr., either get out here or send a runner to tell me that’s I’m the greatest!

Segment Rating: E+

Phonse- I like him better than you Remmy. You know if you were more like him we would get along so much better!

Remmington- Thanks for small favors I guess. Next ‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus takes on lucha sensation, Extraordinario Jr.

It’s only the third show but Roderick and Extraordinario Jr. put on the best match that the uPw fans have seen so far. An action packed match full of exciting moves from both men. The crowd seems to enjoy the display that both wrestlers give. It’s a back and forth match with Extraordinario Jr. showing why he is considered one of the brightest young stars of lucha libre. Roderick shakes off Jr.’s showing with an arrogant smirk as he fights back. Its Remus picks up the win with a pinfall to move on to the second round of the tournament.

Match Result: ‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus wins by pinfall in 14:56

Match Rating: D-

Remmington- Roderick beats Extraordinario Jr. and moves on to the second round of the tournament. Good for my brother. Next month we will determine the final wrestler to qualify for the Semi-Finals of the Quest For the Gold as J.R. Rose takes on uPw most unpredictable wrestler, Decipher! Join us next month for Quest for the Gold IV.

uPw has announced the final card for uPw Quest for the Gold IV and here is the final rundown...

- In the opener The Infestation sends Ultra Flea to take on their nemesis Ant-Man. Ant-Man fended off The Infestation last month to take the victory against Mega Mite. Can Ant-Man do it two months in a row or will The Infestation up its efforts to get rid of Ant-Man once and for all?

- In the Semi-Main Event, two wrestlers that lost their first round tournament matches look to turn their fortunes around as Mark Smart will take on the lucha sensation, Extraordinario Jr. Who will win to maybe work their way back into the picture for the uPw Championship once the tournament concludes with a new champion?

- The Main Event is the final first round match of the Quest for the Gold Championship Tournament between J.R. Rose and the unpredictable Decipher. The winner moves on to the second round to face Roderick Remus, who will move on to face the 'Hot Rod' himself? It should be an exciting one with two high flying wrestlers going all out with a chance to move closer for a chance to win the uPw Championship.

Saturday Week 4, April 2010

uPw Quest for the Gold IV

The Simmons Center

South West, United States

Attendance: 47

We join the commentating duo of Remmington Remus and Phonse Lockett who are sitting ringside in the very plain and dim Simmons Center.

Remmington- Welcome to the fourth installment of uPw’s Quest for the Gold! Tonight we determine the last man to advance to the Semi-finals of the tournament to crown our first uPw Champion. Already we have seen Thomas Morgan, Nathaniel Ca$ino, and ‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus have all moved onto the semis and tonight either J.R. Rose or Decipher will join them.

Phonse- That’s right Remmy. I’m actually looking forward to seeing Decipher tonight; I hear some good things about the masked mystery. Don’t forget we see two of the losers of the Quest for the Gold tournament try to right their ships.

Remmington- First, we open Quest for the Gold IV with the continuation of what has been dubbed The Bug Wars as Ultra Flea of The Infestation will take on Ant-Man. Can Ant-Man out maneuver The Infestation and grab another victory against them?

Ultra Flea vs. Ant-Man

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/UltraFlea_alt.jpg vs. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/Ant-Man_alt5.jpg

Probably the best opener of a uPw show thus far as Ant-Man seems to dominate Ultra Flea for most of the match. Ant-Man fails to get the victory due to Ultra Flea stalling as much as he can without getting himself counted out. Flea does get some high flying offense in but it backfires when Ant-Man catches Ultra Flea off the top rope and he tosses him over with a fall away slam but Ultra Fleas knocks down Chad Brent and quickly from the back Mega Mite hits the ring. Mega Mite hits Ant-Man with a missile dropkick and helps Ultra Flea to his feet. Flea than hits a Drop the Paradigm on Ant-Man and gets the pinfall as Mega Mite helps get Chad Brent up.

Match Result: Ultra Flea wins by pinfall in 12:45

Match Rating: E-

Remmington- The Infestation steals one from Ant-Man.

Phonse- Strength in numbers Remmy. Strength in numbers.

Remmington- You got that right for once, Phonse. Ultra Flea and Mega Mite remain in the ring and they are staring at Ant-Man who is in a heap in the middle of the ring still.

The two Infestation members start towards the downed Ant-Man and start stomping away on the fallen wrestler. The crowd let the Infestation have it with a series of boos as the assault continues.

From the back runs another masked wrestler.

Phonse- Now who is this?

Remmington- That’s the Amazing Fire Fly! Is he here to help Ant-Man or is he another member of The Infestation?

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/AmazingFireFly.jpg

Phonse- Another insect? Where’d I put that number for the exterminator?

Amazing Fire Fly slides into the ring and immediately starts going after Ultra Flea with some right and lefts and some kicks for good measure. Mega Mite meanwhile quickly leaves the ring followed shortly by Ultra Flea who gets dropkicked out of the ring.

The Infestation backs their way towards the back while staring back at the ring while Amazing Fire Fly asks them back to the ring. The Infestation decides it’s better to regroup and fight another day. Amazing Fire Fly checks on Ant-Man and helps him to the back.

Segment Rating- F-

Remmington- Up next the lucha sensation, Extraordinario Jr. takes on happy go lucky, Mark Smart.

Extraordinario Jr. vs. Mark Smart

The two young flyers put on a really solid match for the fans in attendance. It’s a fairly fast paced matchup that slows slightly when Mark Smart shows off his technical skills and works Extraordinario Jr. over on the mat. It doesn’t take Extraordinario Jr. long to kick it back into high gear and give the crowd something to oo and ah over. Jr. hits the Siempre Peleando on Mark Smart to gain the victory and maybe throw his name back into the hat to challenge for the uPw Championship when a champion is crowned.

Match Result: Extraordinario Jr. wins by pinfall in 13:24

Match Rating: E+

Remmington- Extraordinario Jr. wins in an exciting match. Up next we will find out who is the fourth man to move on to the Semi Finals of the uPw Quest For The Gold Tournament. First we understand J.R. Rose would like to address the fans here in attendance and of course his opponent, Decipher.

Phonse- The founder of uPw is going to speak? I’ll be in the can.

Remmington- Show some respect. He’s the reason you have a job.

J.R. Rose walks out from the back with a grin on his face as he walks to the ring. The crowd gives him a decent reception as a few realize the significance of who he is. Rose grabs a microphone and stands in the center of the ring addressing the crowd.

Rose- First off, I would like to thank all of you for coming out tonight to watch us. I hope we’re doing a good job of entertaining you because that’s what we are here for. Without you in those chairs out there, we have nothing. Thank you and I can promise that Underground Pro Wrestling is here to stay and we will continue to get better. We will continue to move forward and grow bigger, better, and stronger. It will take awhile but I have no doubt we will become known as an Indy Darling and then National Icons and finally a Global Giant. It won’t happen overnight, I realize that. Not in this business, not in any business really. We’ll have our ups, we’ll have our downs. We’ll have our triumphs and we’ll have our losses. It will be quite a journey for all of us wrestlers and staff and of course you, the fans. Through hard work and perseverance we will succeed. We will be the little promotion that can.

Rose pauses as the crowd gives him a standing ovation for his little speech on what they can expect from Underground Pro Wrestling.

Rose- Tonight and over the last few months we moving towards crowning the first King of the Underground, better known as the uPw Champion. I would like nothing more for myself to be the first uPw Champion but I know in reality the competition here is stiff and everything will have to be earned. Being the champ though? That would be sweet. So tonight, it’s Decipher and me to find out who the last man to advance to the semi finals is. All I can say Decipher is you’ll be seeing my absolute best tonight and I expect no different from you. The only difference is I’m going to be moving on and you are gonna have to start the chase all over again. And Decipher, you can suck on that.

Phonse- Doesn’t Rose know Decipher doesn’t speak English?

This match surpasses the quality of last month’s Main Event. Not by a lot but it is a quality match between the two young exciting wrestlers. DeCipher proves to be quite unpredictable in the ring but Rose is able to adjust to him for the most part. The two men put everything they have into the match as both want to move on for a chance at the uPw Championship. It’s J.R. Rose though scoring the victory when he hits The Thorn (Vertebreaker). J.R. Rose moves on to face Roderick Remus.

Match Result: J.R. Rose wins by pinfall in 16:06

uPw has announced the final card for uPw Quest for the Gold V and here is the rundown....

- Donte Dunn has his first singles match as he takes on Malik Cash of Cash Funk who are still steamed with Dunn getting involved with their business with Alistair Shuffle. Will Dunn get the victory over Cash or will Cash have something up his sleeve?

-Amazing Fire Fly injected himself into the Bug Wars last month saving Ant-Man from a beat down by The Infestation. This month, The Infestation sends Super Mantis to face Amazing Fire Fly. Chances are, Amazing Fire Fly will need eyes in the back of his head but he should have backup in the form of Ant-Man if the Infestation get involved. Who will get the victory in this chapter of the Bug Wars?

- In the Main Event we will see the first of two Semi Final matches to move on to the Championship match for the uPw Championship. Thomas Morgan who looks to gain his first Championship and make the Stone Family proud faces Nathaniel Ca$ino who is sure to have some sort of bet in on this matchup. Who will take the final step to get in the Championship Match?

Saturday Week 4, May 2010

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/upw.jpg

uPw Quest for the Gold V

The Simmons Center

South West, United States

Attendance: 46

We join Remmington Remus and Phonse Lockett ringside in the dimly lit Simmons Center. A couple of uPw banners are tossed up this month. A sign that the young promotion isn’t doing too bad perhaps.

Remmington- Welcome to uPw Quest for the Gold V. Tonight we will determine the first wrestler to advance to the Championship match for the uPw Championship as Thomas Morgan takes on Nathaniel Ca$ino. Both men are ready to and so are these fans, they want to see who could potentially become the first Champion of uPw.

Phonse- It’s gonna be Ca$ino. Morgan’s a never was and Ca$ino is a future star!

Remmington – We shall see. To kick things off tonight Donte Dunn will face off with Malik Cash. Cash Funk and Streetz aren’t exactly happy with Dunn and look to make him pay tonight.

Phonse- Well he got involved where he didn’t belong. I hope they make him pay tonight.

Donte Dunn vs. Malik Cash w/ Streetz

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/DonteDunn.jpg vs. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/MalikCash.jpg w/ http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/Streetz.jpg

An ok match for a local promotion like uPw. Donte Dunn uses his power to dominate most of the match and the crowd figures Cash doesn’t stand much of a chance. Cash does manage to get some of his high flying offense in but it’s matched by Dunn’s own high flying offense. Just as it looks like Dunn is going to go over, Jazz Funk hits the ring and with Streetz running distraction, Funk takes Dunn down from behind. This allows Malik Cash to hit the Cash Drop and get the victory.

Match Result: Malik Cash wins by pinfall in 11:40

Match Rating: E-

Remmington- Cash Funk steals one from Donte Dunn as Dunn clearly was the better man here tonight.

Phonse- He was not. It looks to me like Cash Funk are about to teach Donte Dunn a lesson.

In the ring Jazz Funk and Malik Cash start to attack Donte Dunn. Streetz eggs the duo on to finish off Dunn to keep him out of Cash Funk business.

Phonse- Well it seems Donte Dunn has overstayed his welcome in uPw and Cash Funk are seeing to it that he gets out of here.

A slight murmur from the crowd and Alistair Shuffle comes running from the back.

Remmington Remus- It’s Alistair Shuffle! He’s come to save Donte Dunn. It’s the least he can do after Dunn helped Shuffle get a victory over Cash Funk.

Shuffle slides into the ring and quickly dispatches Jazz Funk before turning his attention to Malik Cash. A couple of quick kicks and a big spinning heel kick knocks Cash over the top rope to the floor. Shuffle helps Dunn to his feet and they stare down the retreating Cash Funk with Streetz shouting back to the ring.

Segment Rating: F-

Remmington- It looks like this situation between Alistair Shuffle and Cash Funk isn’t over yet. Now Donte Dunn appears to be caught in the middle. Up next the Bug Wars continue as Super Mantis takes on Amazing Fire Fly in his first uPw match.

Phonse- Not the bugs again.

Super Mantis vs. Amazing Fire Fly

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/UltramantisBlack_jhd.jpg vs. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r231/haloed114/uPw%20Diary/AmazingFireFly.jpg

Its’ a pretty standard cruiserweight style match between the young flyers. Back and forth for the most part but Amazing Fire Fly looks to be the superior of the two wrestlers. Perhaps the most surprising thing of the match is we don’t see the other two members of The Infestation around. Mantis puts up a decent fight but it’s Amazing Fire Fly getting the victory with the exciting Sky High Fire Fly finisher.

Match Result: Amazing Fire Fly wins by pinfall in 12:45

Match Rating: E-

Phonse- Wow. Only two bugs tonight?

Remmington- Disappointed?

Phonse- No, not really.

Remmington- We’re about to find out who the first man to advance to the final match of the uPw Quest for the Gold Championship Tournament is. It seems thought first Thomas Morgan will be addressing tonight’s fans.

Phonse- Really, we have to listen to Morgan. Why don’t they let Ca$ino spread the good word tonight instead. I’m sure he’d be a lot more interesting to listen too.

Remmington- Here come Morgan now to the ring with a microphone in hand.

Indeed, Thomas Morgan walks up the ring stairs with a microphone in hand. He steps through the ropes and looks out at crowd with a serious look on his face. He looks all business.

Thomas Morgan- It’s only my second time in front of you people. My first time I was victorious and yet I’m guessing you still don’t really know who I am. So let me introduce myself, I’m Thomas Morgan. I come from the Great White North and I’ve been trained by the greatest wrestling family in the wrestling business, The Stone family.

He pauses to let the name of The Stone family set in as he’s sure at least a few of the people in the crowd know who the Stone Family is.

Thomas Morgan- Tonight I take on a man more interested in Gambling than he is wrestling. That’s where I have him beat. I’m a wrestler first and that’s what I work hard at. Tonight I’ll show Ca$ino just how hard I work to perfect this craft we call wrestling. Then I will move one step closer to winning the uPw Championship and showing the Stone Family that they were right to train me.

Phonse- He has no chance; it’s almost shameful to have him out here flapping his gums.

Semi Final Match of the Quest for the Gold Championship Tournament

Thomas Morgan vs. Nathaniel Ca$ino

The match while solid was a disappointment as it turned into an awkward mess between the two competitors. Both men did have moments where they shined through the awkwardness but not enough to deliver the type of match that was expected in the uPw Main Event spot. Ca$ino showed off his high flying game and came close to getting the victory a few time but it was Morgan who caught Ca$ino trying a spectacular move and delivered a Northern Lights Suplex for the pinfall and the win to move on to the finals of the tournament.

Phonse- No! That can’t be. Nathaniel Ca$ino can’t lose to that smuck.

uPw has announced the final card for Quest for the Gold VI, here is the rundown...

- Donte Dunn returns after getting cheated by Cash Funk to take on the unpredictable luchador, DeCipher. DeCipher is looking to get on track after losing in the Quest for the Gold Tournament. Who will manage to get back on track? Will Cash Funk be lurking around?

- In the semi-Main event, Nathaniel Ca$ino will take on Running Wolf. Ca$ino was visibly upset after losing to Thomas Morgan last month and looks to get back into the hunt for the uPw Championship with a victory. Running Wolf comes into the match just looking to begin making a name for himself.

- The Main Event will determine the second man to compete for the uPw Championship as 'Hot Rod' Roderick Remus takes on J.R. Rose in the final semi final match in the Quest for the Gold tournament. Remus claims to be the best wrestler in uPw, while J.R. Rose may be the soul of uPw. Who will move on to face Thomas Morgan for the title?

Donte Dunn vs. DeCipher

I could see this one going either way as both could use the win, but Dunn has more going on and DeCipher starts with no overness in USA.

Nathaniel Ca$ino vs. Running Wolf

Ca$ino gets a win to set him back to right track.

uPw Quest for the Gold VI

The Simmons Center

South West, United States

Attendance: 47

We go ringside to join Remmington Remus and Phonse Lockett who are set to call the action of uPw Quest for the Gold.

Remmington- Welcome to uPw Quest for the Gold VI, the final Quest for the Gold.

Phonse- Big night for the Remus family tonight.

Remmington- It could be just that as ‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus will take on J.R. Rose to determine who will face Thomas Morgan next month to become the first ever uPw Champion! It’s an exciting time for uPw and its fans in general to see who will represent them as the champ into the future of this promotion.

Phonse- I still think you’re jealous Remmy.

Remmington- Don’t go there, Phonse. You might not like what it leads to. Up first tonight, Donte Dunn, coming off a loss to Malik Cash, will face DeCipher in his first match since losing in the uPw Quest for the Gold tournament.

An ok match between the two wrestlers even though it was pretty messy without much psychology involved, like most uPw matches to this point. It’s fairly back and forth between the two with DeCipher showing off his unpredictable flying nature and Dunn brawling a bit. Dunn shows he can fly as well. The match looks like it could go either way when Jazz Funk runs from the back and takes out Dunn. DeCipher doesn’t look particularly thrilled with the interference but quickly goes for the Code Breaker and picks up the win.

Match Result: DeCipher wins by pinfall in 13:26

Remmington- Cash Funk steals another potential victory away from Donte Dunn. This feud could be coming to a head real soon.

Phonse- DeCipher had him beat anyway.

Before the duo can continue, Nathaniel Ca$ino storms by the broadcast area on his way to the ring.

Remmington- Well, um… guess we’re going to hear from Nathaniel Ca$ino.

Ca$ino rolls under the bottom rope into the ring and he doesn’t look very happy.

Ca$ino- I’m not going to lie. I am not happy, not since losing last month to Thomas Morgan. I didn’t even know he existed until last month. On top of that I lost a ton of cash as I was absolutely sure I was going to be the first uPw Champion. Now where am I? Facing Running Wolf? Once again I have no idea who Running Wolf is. That’s ok though, it didn’t stop me from putting down a hefty sum of cash down on myself to win this matchup. Tonight Nathaniel Ca$ino starts to recoup his losses in his finances. Also tonight I start getting back on the winning side of things in the ring. So Running Wolf get your tail out here so this Gambling Man can get back on track!

Ca$ino starts out angry with straight out brawling with the bigger Running Wolf. Ca$ino than starts showing Running Wolf some chain wrestling before Wolf finally gets into the match using his power. The match than becomes pretty even but with Ca$ino seemingly keeping the upper hand by using his speed and quickness over Running Wolf. Running Wolf seems to surprise Ca$ino though and hits the Wolf Tamer and gets a pinfall just before Ca$ino can kick out. Ca$ino looks ten times more upset than he did before the match started.

Match Result: Running Wolf wins by pinfall in 12:50

Remmington- Ca$ino gets beat again and he looks absolutely irate as he heads to the back. Can’t imagine what is going through his head right now.

Phonse- I know what’s going trough mine! I’m no longer taking that man’s advice on bets any longer.

Remmington- You shouldn’t be gambling in the first place.

Phonse- Hey it’s my money and you’re not my mom, Remmy!

Remmington- Whatever. Next ‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus takes on J.R. Rose with the winner going on to vie for the uPw Championship.

‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus and Willow come out to the ring looking very confident. Remus immediately grabs a microphone before climbing the ring steps and climbing through the ropes. He poses for the crowd along with Willow and the uPw crowd showers the duo with some boos.

‘Hot Rod’ – Tonight I show the founder of this place the very reason he picked up a phone and offered me a job. J.R. Rose knows that I am the best wrestler around these parts and he needed me to be part of his little promotion or he knew it was going to go nowhere. Might I add nowhere fast? Just think Rose, when I become uPw Champion I will put this place on the map. Isn’t that what you want? You won’t be able to that as champ. So you may as well just lie down and let me get the win. I move on, beat Thomas Morgan, and bam!, instant credibility with me on top of this place. You and these fans know this all to be the truth. They don’t call me ‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus for nothing. I’m the top dog around here, up and down the west coast and all around the south west. Tonight when J.R. Rose steps into the ring to face me, it will prove itself. So let’s do this.

This is probably the first match that the crowd was actually in to from the very start, not super in to but still intrigued by the matchup. The match didn’t disappoint and will be considered one of the best matches in uPw at this point. The crowd would get behind Rose just to spite Remus whenever Remus had the advantage in the match. They would cheer whenever Rose would turn the tables on ‘Hot Rod’. Both men pulled off at least one spectacular move. This night would turn into the night of ‘Hot Rod’ as he hit a big Super Kick to get the pinfall over Rose and more importantly move on to the championship match next month.

Match Result: ‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus wins by pinfall in 16:23

Remmington- ‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus has done it; he’s moving on to face Thomas Morgan for the uPw Championship. No doubt it’s a childhood dream of Roderick. I should know it was a dream I was shared with him.

Phonse- I knew it. You are jealous of your brother because he can still wrestle and you have to sit here with me.

Remmington- Shut up Phonse. Sitting here with you isn’t a lot of fun, thankfully I still love wrestling and it’s enough to make this situation tolerable. Anyway, uPw fans, next month we will crown our first champion. Who will it be, Thomas Morgan or ‘Hot Rod’ Roderick Remus? Join us to find out!
