KENNY OMEGA -VS- RHINO w/ PRINCE NANA

Kenny Omega came out looking game, not allowing Rhino to get the better of him for several minutes as he avoided The War Machine's power moves and focused on working over the treetrunk-like legs of his opponent. Despite his best efforts, Omega proved unsuccesful as Rhino turned the tides with a leveling kick and minutes later finised Omega off with a sick looking Gore! (RATING: 44)

(NON-TITLE MATCH)

"The New Crown Jewel" Petey Williams is the final member of Prince Nana's Embassy standing between The Notorious 187 and Nana's personal bodyguard, The Man Beast Rhino. These two had a great, back-and-forth battle in the ring that saw both men come within less than a second of the three-count several times. After failing to put Williams away with a Gringo Cutter, Homicide set his opponent up for a Cop Killer but the "Crown Jewel" manages his way out and nails a Canadian Destroyer! Williams tries to make the pin, but Homicide won't die! Williams locks in the Sharpshooter, but Homicide refuses to tap out! He begins to fight his way towards the ropes, Nana screaming in his face from the outside. Realizing his opponent is close to grabbing the ropes, Williams sits up to drag Homicide back to the center of the ring but Homicide manages to pull a leg free and send Williams crashing into the turnbuckle! The crowd roaring their approval, Homicide gets to his feet and hits a Cop Killer for the win! After the bell, he points at Nana on the outsided and motions a finger across his throat. (RATING: 60)

WINNER: HOMICIDE

Following the match, as Prince Nana and Princess Mia try to hightail it away from ringside, Homicide cuts off their path to the entryway. With a smile on his face, Homicide nods as he begins to back Nana and Mia back into the safety railing. . . but here comes Rhino! The War Machine charges down the aisle, but Homicide turns and is ready for him! The two meet and come to blows, Nana and Mia escaping through the scuffle. With their match at Crossing A New Line now official, ROH security heads out to separate them so as not to endanger their iPPV bout. It takes nearly ten security guards before they manage to separate Homicide and Rhino, and they begin to drag Homicide up the aisle as we head to commercial. . .

These two competed fiercly from the second the opening bell sounded; Castagnoli wanted to prove himself every bit as good as his Kings of Wrestling counterpart Chris Hero while Davey Richards showed why Jim Cornette chose him for a chance at the number one ranking in the new Pick Six. The crowd was hot and stayed that way throughout all the great action until Richards picked up the win with a DR Driver. (RATING: 74)

Charlie Haas showed CM Punk exactly why he was chosen as his opponent, controlling the opening of the match and going hold-for-hold with the champ in a fine technical display. Punk eventually took the upperhand, peppering Haas with stinging kicks and brutal knees. Without any of the other rogue elements against these two at the iPPV around, Punk and Haas carried a good, strong main event for the television audience with Punk retaining after a Go2Sleep. (RATING: 80)

Michael Elgin came to the ring, along with manager Truth Martini, looking ****y and playing to the crowd; Martini and Elgin both laughed about Omega's "fluke" victory on ROH television a few weeks ago as Kenny Omega made his entrance. This pair worked a good opener with Omega staying a few steps ahead of Elgin, who played the classic heel and complained to the ref about eye gouges and tights being pulled while Omega had the upperhand and then using those tactics himself to turn the tides. When Elgin should have been looking to end the match, he instead wasted time taunting Omega and playing to the crowd which allowed Omega to regain the upperhand and pick up his second victory over Elgin.

Claudio came out looking strong, and seemed to keep his momentum nearly the whole match through. Cabana continued a fairly long losing streak in this match, but for the first time he seemed upset about it as he rolled to the outside and looked to be very disappointed in himself while heading to the back.

This is an elimination bout, and all three teams looked hungry from the second the bell rang. Even though the real story of the match took place when The All-Night Express and The Briscoes were facing off, The Embassy was not to be outshined. Ciampa and Albright took control for several minutes and systematically destroyed Rhett Titus' arm until he managed a hot tag to Kenny King, who cleaned house with The Embassy and eliminated them by pinning Tomasso Ciampa around the 10 minute mark. Despite scoring the first elimination, King would regret it as Titus' arm meant he was nearly left alone to try and fight off the relentless Briscoes. After being worked over for several minutes, King got the hot tag to Titus who came in a cleared the ring but was eventually overtaken in a brutal, swarming double-team that nearly got the Briscoes disqualified. After that, it wasn't long before the Briscoes picked up the win with a Doomsday Device.

WINNER: THE BRISCOES
(RATING: 59)

After the match, the Briscoes started laying the boots to The All-Night Express. However, before things could progress too far, ROH Executive Producer Jim Cornette came out to make a special announcement, still needing the aid of crutchesafter CM Punk and Kevin Steen's attack last month even though he doesn't wear a cast.

The Briscoes stop momentarily, looking angry as they talk back and forth and then start yelling down the aisle at Cornette. Cornette, with a smug looking smile on his face, continues.

HOMICIDE -VS- RHINO

Tensions are already running high for this bout, with Homicide having already run the gauntlet of other Embassy members to get to The Man Beast. This is the first time The Notorious 187 has gotten Rhino in the ring since Best In The World, and it was exactly the kind of hard hitting affair you would expect in the beginning. Both men took some time to shine, with Homicide narrowly avoiding a Gore and sending The Man Beast shoulder-first into the ringpost but after following that with a near-beatdown, Rhino still managed to kickout following a Cop Killer. The Man Beast wouldn't regain the upperhand, however, as Homicide put the boots to him some more before following up with a second Cop Killer for the win.

WINNER: HOMICIDE
(RATING: 70)

Following the match, with Prince Nana berating him from the outside, Homicide pulls Nana into the ring! As the crowd roars, The Notorious 187 clobbers Nana with some brutal forearms and starts to put the boots to him in the corner! He backs off and builds up a head of steam, charging into the corner and nearly taking Nana's head off with a running knee!

The rest of The Embassy comes sprinting out to the ring as Rhino starts to come to his senses on the opposite side of the ring. With Rhino inside looking to Gore, as Homicide protects himself, Brent Albright and Petey Williams manage to pull Prince Nana out to safety and scurry to the back. With Homicide cornered, Rhino charges in with a Gore but eats the turnbuckle as Homicide sidesteps and slips out of the ring.

PICK SIX CHALLENGE
CHRIS HERO -VS- DAVEY RICHARDS

This match is to determine the #1 and #6 rankings in the new ROH Pick Six, which will determine the top six contender's to CM Punk's ROH World title. The crowd treated this match with every bit of respect they would treat the main event, and Richard & Hero delivered just as if it were the main event. It took several minutes for the match to really get going as both men went move for move, punch for punch, hold for hold in an attempt to take the early advantage. Not letting the crowd forget he's a heel, Hero uses some underhanded tactics to take control and start wearing down Richards.

For quite a while, the match played out almost like a game of chess in the scientific exchange of wrestling holds and attempts to gain control. Hero would take control with stiff shots and elbow strikes, Richards would manage a reversal and try to wear down Hero with armlocks and stretches, and they would go back-and-forth for over 30 minutes before Richards finally managed to lock Hero into a Cloverleaf for the submission win.

With the ROH Television title scene heating up, some of the top contenders were booked for tonight's Four Corner Survival match. Petey Williams entered the arena with Princess Mia, but Prince Nana was missing in action after the attack he took from Homicide earlier in the evening. Former champion El Generico came up short in his chance to regain the title, being pinned by "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett to be the first man eliminated. Bennett himself was later eliminated by Lethal, leaving The Embassy's Crown Jewel the only other wrestler standing.

After coming to a TV time limit draw weeks prior, Lethal and Williams had more than enough time to declare a decisive winner as the last two competitors in four corner survival. The crowd was rallying behind Lethal as he had Williams on the ropes early in the exchange, but the Candian Destroyed rebounded and took the lead himself for a while.

The end finally came when Jay Lethal headed up top for a flying elbow drop; Princess Mia ran to one side of the ring and climbed up on the apron, yelling at the referee as he tried to get her to step down. On the other side, Prince Nana bolted to the ring and quickly got onto the apron, shending Lethal crashing down to the mat. Williams struggled to his feet and locked Lethal into the sharpshooter before Princess Mia finally got down, and the ref got back to action only seconds before Lethal tapped out in pain while the crowd chanted their displeasure.

This match was another great example of just how much tag team wrestling matters to Ring of Honor and the ROH fans; Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team were showered with streamers and the crowd was all over Truth Martini as he led his team out to the ring. Haas and Edwards started things off, and the match rocketed out the gate from there. Both teams worked very well together, and never let the crowd forget they were watching a tag team match-- Strong and Edwards worked some double-team spots and made a strategy of quick tags in their corner to take apart Haas as he built towards a hot tag to Benjamin.

Benjamin came in and cleared house, settling the match back down to he and Roderick Strong in the ring to work for several minutes. Benjamin and Haas then made quick tags in the home corner their strategy, adding in crowd popping springboard and top-rope double teams with the quick tags to get the fans going.

In the end, the miscommunication that we've seen before between Strong and Edwards proved to be their undoing, and Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team retained their titles after a great match that ended somewhere over the 25 minute mark. Benjamin and Haas celebrate in the ring while Martini and his team show some unrest in the group while heading to the back.

Thanks to Jimmy Jacobs, I have also been working towards becoming a better person. My name is Steve Corino, and I've allowed my own evil actions to destroy my legacy in this business. But thanks to you people, the Ring of Honor fans, and you're acceptance, I've been able to do a lot of work towards restoring that legacy. But, lately. . . lately, becoming a better person has been. . . just a tad difficult. I've sustained a concussion, I've been injured. . . I was taken out of action, and then put out of action again. As Steve Corino and Kevin Steen go off in the ring, the sounds of Kevin Steen's entrance theme flood the arena speakers. CM Punk and Kevin Steen make their entrance into the arena. . . Punk wears his t-shirt that declares him "The Best In The World" while Steen wears a shirt proudly declaring the remarks Steve Corino was referencing on the front and, on the back, on picture of Steen with horns poking out of his forehead and "Antichrist of Pro-Wrestling" written across the shoulders. Punk and Steen both have satisfied smirks on their faces as they slowly stride down to the ring, stopping short of getting inside as Punk sits down cross-legged at the end of the aisle while Steen stands behind him with his arms crossed.

After the opening mic work between the two teams, the crowd was sizzling with anticipation for these four men to start squaring off. CM Punk started first for his team against Jimmy Jacobs, working Jacobs over and taunting the crowd while doing it. He eventually tagged in Kevin Steen, who played to the crowd to build up his first time in a Ring of Honor ring for a match in nearly a year. Steen took control for a while, eventually building to a spot where Jacobs turns the tables and the crowd started chanting for Corino.

Jacobs took the hint and tagged in Corino, but Steen managed to retreat to his corner and tag Punk back into the match. This went on for a little while until Corino finally found himself the legal man with Steen, and began to extract some revenge by laying into Steen for a while. After a few minutes, Steen and Corino both found themselves on the ground and struggling towards their corner for a tag. They each make it and chaod ensues as CM Punk and Jimmy Jacobs start brawling in the ring with Steen and Corino still recovering on the mat.

With the wild brawl going on, when Corino and Steen make it back to their feet, chaos ensues as all four men break out into a brawl that threatens to end the match in a double disqualification. The referee seems to be losing control, but Steen eventually takes Corino to the outside with a running clothesline. With the referee on their cases now, Jacobs and Punk return to slightly tamer wrestling action for a moment. Punk hurls Jacobs into the corner and charges in with a knee, setting Jacobs up for the Go2Sleep to end the match while Steen continues to assault Corino on the outside.

WINNER: CM PUNK & KEVIN STEEN
(RATING: 72)

CM Punk and Kevin Steen play to the crowd from inside the ring while Kevin Kelly and Dave Prazak ponder what Steen's return to Ring of Honor means for the company as the iPPV signs off.

I wanted to show the managers pics in matches where they are important (Truth Martini in the tag match, since the stable was booked because of him, and Prince Nana in the Rhino/Homicide match since the feud is really between Nana and Homicide) so the handicap match layout works perfectly. The names in the three-way tag match were done with floating elements-- I find that if you apply floating elements just before exporting the finished product is more stable when it comes to the floating elements showing up where you want them.

Thanks! Must've missed this the other day; glad you're enjoying it. I'm just now starting to hit a stride, I think, in the way the diary reads; good promos instead of a description of the promo, solid write-ups that detail the match but don't take me hours to write, and FictionPlus lets me do a visually appealing layout.

 

In some other OOC stuff, it looks like BHK1978 and jonnycosmic both have a solid chance of becoming the first iPPV prediction pool winner (remember, first to 30 correct predictions wins a pool). I'll announce the prize when the predictions for the next iPPV go up (and, in the future, announce it whenever we run an iPPV where there could be a potential winner-- prizes will not change until someone wins, and the next prize becomes available).

Some forums here don't allow you to use picture code, so that could be the issue. If you were trying to post in a dynasty, I'm not sure what the issue would be, but you could ask for help in the main TEW 2010 forum and I'm sure you'd find helpful responses there.
