**WWE Backlash**

Live from the Fleet Centre in Boston, MA

Attendance: 30,000

PPV Buy Rate: 5.41

Backlash opens with the customary, yet impressive, pyro display. We are then welcomed to the show by JR, who is joined on commentary by Paul Heyman.

JR: Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, and welcome to WWE Backlash. Thank you for joining us for what looks to be one hell of a night, with some fantastic matches including our Main Event, which will see Undisputed Champion Triple H face off against Chris Jericho.

Heyman: Absolutely JR, but let’s not forget ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is also in action tonight against Booker T. Austin will be out for revenge after Booker and his homeboy Konnan took Stone Cold out a couple of weeks ago on RAW. And on top of all that, we have the biggest contest of the night... of any night! We will witness here tonight live on Pay Per View, an ending of an era, the passing of the torch and the beginning of something new and exciting. I am talking of course about when Brock Lesnar overcomes Hulkamania right here in Boston, and we enter the era of Brock Lesnar! Mark my words JR, Hulkamania ends tonight!

JR: Many people have tried and failed before Paul, I could list a dozen guys who have tried to topple the worldwide phenomenon known as Hulkamania!

Heyman: Yes, but none of those people have been named Brock Lesnar!

****************************************

The camera goes backstage, and shows a limousine pulling into the car park. Triple H appears from the car, and is immediately stopped by interviewer Gerald Briscoe.

Briscoe: “Triple H, with your Undisputed Title on the line tonight, I have to ask: Have you recovered from the assault by Booker T and Chris Jericho on Monday Night RAW?”

Triple H: “I want to make it clear that I am at 100% tonight. Jericho tried to take me out on Monday, and I know that tonight he will do anything it takes to get this Title back. But Chris you seem to be forgetting who you’re dealing with. I am The Game, Triple H. I am the Cerebral Assassin. I am the Undisputed Champion. And come the end of the night, that will still be the case.”

With that, Triple H walks off, and the camera follows the champ as he enters the arena.

Trish Stratus vs Jazz

Womens Championship

****************************************

Heyman hypes Jazz’s dominant reign as champion on commentary, but JR counters by pointing to Trish’s tag team victory last week on RAW. This was a fairly even match up, with Trish using her speed to counter Jazz’s power game. However, in the end Jazz resorted to a short cut, by grabbing Trish’s hair to slow her down. From here she was able to hit the STF for the win. In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Jazz defeated Trish Stratus in 7:42 by submission with a STF after blatantly cheating. Jazz makes defence number 1 of her WWF Women's title.

Rating: C-

The announcing quality lifted the match.

****************************************

The Hurricane vs Mr Perfect

****************************************

This match was brought about by Mr Perfect being unable to accept that Hurricane beat him on three weeks ago on RAW. Perfect then attacked Hurricane, leading to this match. This match went much longer than their original match on RAW, and was full of back and forth action. Hurricane would gain control for periods of the match using his extra speed, only for Mr Perfect to get hold of Hurricane and slow the pace down using various submission holds. The match went back and forth like this, until Perfect took advantage of a missed Dropkick and locked in the Sharpshooter for the win. In a match that had some good action and average heat, Mr. Perfect defeated The Hurricane in 16:16 by submission with a Sharpshooter.

Rating: B-

This match lifted the crowd.

We cut to a video that has been filmed in a dark room; we can just make out the outline of Raven in the dim lighting.

Raven: “All men will be judged on the choices they make, and Rob your day of judgement has arrived. Whatever happens to you tonight, whatever pain I dish out, whatever suffering you must endure... it will be no fault of my own. You made the choice to challenge me to this match Rob. You made the choice to face me Rob, and tonight you must deal with the consequences of that choice. Quote The Raven Nevermore...”

Rob Van Dam vs Raven

Intercontinental/Hardcore Championship Unification Match

****************************************

Both men had a lot on the line in this match, and that showed in the risks both men took. There were weapons galore in this Hardcore match, with both men looking to put the other away from the start. Some of the major spots involved a Van Terminator from RVD and a Russian Leg Sweep onto the guardrail from Raven, both of which only earned a two count. RVD also hit a Rolling Thunder onto a Steel Chair, but that also wasn’t enough to put Raven away.

The match looked to be over when an exhausted Raven hit a Raven Effect DDT, and rolled into the cover. 1.... 2.... no! RVD kicked out. Raven went absolutely mental, yelling at the referee that it was three. After a while, he rolled out of the ring and grabbed himself a chair. Rolling into the ring, it looked like Raven would smash RVD with the chair. However, RVD hopped back to his feet with unbelievable agility, before landing the Van Daminator. Raven was down, but Rob didn’t go for the cover. Instead he went up top and hit the Five Star Frog Splash! 1... 2... 3! This one’s over. In a bout that featured great action and average heat, Rob Van Dam defeated Raven in 16:36 by pinfall with a Five Star Frog Splash. Rob Van Dam makes defence number 2 of his WWF Intercontinental title. Rob Van Dam won the WWF Hardcore Title.

We have a slickly put together video hyping the Hogan/Lesnar match which is next. The video starts showing some of Hogan’s biggest and most famous victories throughout his career in the WWF. We see thousands of Hulkamaniacs around the world cheering on their hero; and in feats on unmatchable strength, we see Hogan lay waste to the lives of dozens of t-shirts.

However the mood of the video then shifts, and we see clips of Lesnar’s recent destruction of Hogan. The video finishes with a shot of Brock Lesnar standing tall over a downed Hogan, with Paul Heyman’s commentary being played over the top.

Heyman: “This is a passing of the torch, a changing of the guard. This is Brock Lesnar surpassing Hulk Hogan as the biggest name in wrestling history!”

Hulk Hogan vs Brock Lesnar is next!

Hulk Hogan vs Brock Lesnar

****************************************

As Lesnar’s music hits, Heyman hypes Lesnar’s actions over the past few weeks, which have seen him destroy Hogan on more than one occasion. JR claims Hulkamania is running wild through the Fleet Centre in Boston tonight. Hogan comes out to a huge pop from the crowd, and wastes no time going straight after Lesnar. This seems to catch Lesnar completely off guard, as Hogan dominates the first five minutes of the match.

However, Lesnar is eventually able to find his feet and works his way back into the match. The two men trade moves until around the ten minute mark, where Lesnar decks Hogan with a huge Lariat. From here Lesnar begins to dominate the Icon, landing a series of powerful moves. This goes on until around the sixteen minute mark, when all the Hulkamaniacs in Boston begin to go wild as their man begins ‘Hulking Up’. Hogan feeds off the crowds energy, and is able to slow Lesnar’s domination. Hogan lands a right hand! And another! Atomic Drop! Hogans posing like he’s already won here! He lifts Lesnar to his feet, and whips him off the ropes, Big Boot... NO! Lesnar ducks under the Big Boot, before flooring Hogan with another humongous Clothesline. The Hulkamaniacs go deathly quiet as Lesnar hauls Hogan to his feet and locks in a Side Bearhug, which he calls the Brock Lock.

Hogan looks to be fading, and Heyman is screaming at the ref on commentary to call for the bell. The ref raises Hogans hand, and it drops back down. He raises it again, and it drops back down. He raises it for a final time, and this one’s over... NO! Hogan stops his hand from falling. The crowd go nuts, and Hogan feeds off their energy, landing two clubbing blows to the back of Lesnar. While it doesn’t break the hold, it does allow Hogan to get his feet back on the ground. Hogan inches towards the ropes, and is finally able to grab hold of the top rope. The crowd blow the roof of this place. However, Brock won’t break the hold. The ref counts to four, but Lesnar is able to haul Hogan away from the ropes again. The ref stops his count and looks confused as to whether to count five for a second. After a pause, he finishes his count and tells Lesnar to break the hold. Heyman is screaming on commentary that Hogan doesn’t have hold of the ropes, with JR pointing out that Lesnar should have broken the hold while Hogan did. Lesnar refuses to break the hold, and Hogan is screaming in agony. The ref tries to break the hold physically, but is no match for Lesnar’s strength, so he calls for the bell.

In a superb bout that had great wrestling and a sizzling crowd, Hulk Hogan defeated Brock Lesnar in 19:35 by disqualification.

Rating: B+

The match suffered because of the lack of selling on display. This match lifted the crowd.

****************************************

After the bell, Lesnar keeps the hold on. A number of refs flood from the back to try and break the hold, but have no luck. Hogan is fading fast and soon slumps over, clearly passed out. On commentary Heyman is going ballistic. Claiming Lesnar had been robbed by biased officiating. Eventually Lesnar releases the hold, but clearly the damage has already been done. Hogan slumps to the mat and is immediately checked on by medics, as Lesnar makes his way up the ramp with a sadistic smile on his face.

JR: “That was a completely unnecessary attack there by Brock Lesnar the match was over god damn it! Hogan had won!”

Heyman: “Hogan had won JR? Look at the scene in front of you and tell me who you think the real winner is tonight. Mark my words Brock Lesnar has done what he set out to do. He has ended Hulkamania here tonight in Boston, and the era of Brock Lesnar has begun!”

Rating: A*

This segment lifted the crowd.

****************************************

We go backstage and find Chris Jericho and Booker T standing by with Gerald Briscoe.

Briscoe: “Chris, this Monday night on RAW, yourself and Booker T left Stone Cold and Triple H laid out in the middle of the ring after a vicious assault. Do you think that gives you an advantage going into your Undisputed Title match tonight?”

Jericho: “Do I think it gives me an advantage? What do you think you idiot? Of course it gives me an advantage and a huge advantage at that. Triple H, on Monday night I hurt you, but that will be nothing compared to the pain and humiliation I will inflict on you tonight when I take back MY Undisputed Title.”

Briscoe: “How about you Booker, did you accomplish what you wanted to on Monday night?”

Booker: “Now look here, Monday night was about sending a message! A message to that no good rattlesnake that he can’t make fun of Booker T. I’m a five time WCW Champion, and I demand I get the respect I deserve! Tonight I’m going to whip some respect into that beer swilling redneck. Now can you dig that?”

With that Booker storms off camera, leaving Jericho alone with Briscoe.

Briscoe: “So Chris... confident tonight?”

Jericho: “Let me put it this way. After tonight, I will prove once and for all that: RAW IS JERICHO!”

Jericho storms off as well, and Gerald Briscoe sends us back to JR and Heyman for the next match.

Rating: B+

This segment lifted the crowd.

© Billy & Chuck vs The Godfather & Val Venis

Tag Team Championships

****************************************

The Tag Titles are on the line next. Val Venis started the match on fire, taking it to both Billy and Chuck in the early goings. However, Billy and Chuck’s superior team work began to shine through, and they gained control of the match. From here, Venis and Godfather never really get back into the match, bar a few flurries of offense. Billy and Chuck were able to maintain control, and Billy was able to get the win with a Fame-Ass-Er. In a match that had some good action and average heat, Billy & Chuck defeated P.I.M.P.S in 9:51 when Billy defeated The Godfather by pinfall with a Fame-Ass-Er. Billy & Chuck make defence number 1 of their WWF World Tag Team titles.

Rico did some good work at ringside. The Godfather could use something to freshen his character up. This match lifted the crowd.

****************************************

Stone Cold vs Booker T

****************************************

This match came about when Booker T took offense to Stone Cold seemingly mocking the former five time WCW World Champion. Booker T started the match strongly, using a series of kicks and chops to nullify the threat of Austin early on. However, a Thesz Press allowed Austin to wrestle back the momentum and lift the pace. Austin kept on top of Booker, landing a series of hard shots followed by an STF for a 2 count. Booker backed away to the corner to try and create some distance between him and Austin, but Stone Cold followed him and stomped a mudhole into Booker in the corner.

Austin locked in a Sleeper Hold, looking to wear Booker down, but Booker was able to reverse the move into a Back Body Drop. Both men were down, and the ref began the count. At the count of seven, both men struggled back to their feet and traded blows. The fans cheered every Austin right hand, and booed every strike from Booker. The two men traded blows, until Booker ducked under an Austin right hand and landed a Jumping Calf Kick, sending Austin to the mat. Booker then taunted the fans with a Spin-a-Roonie. Booker then looked for a Scissor Kick, but Austin was able to move out of the way and hit a Spinebuster. With Austin looking to be regaining the momentum, Konnan appeared from the back. While he didn’t get involved, his presence proved enough to distract Austin. Austin made his way to the ropes to yell at Konnan, before turning right into a Book End. Booker made the cover and got the three count, much to the displeasure of the sell out crowd.

In a superb bout that had great wrestling and a sizzling crowd, Booker T defeated Steve Austin in 22:38 by pinfall with a Book End following interference from Konnan.

Rating: B+

The match deserved better colour commentary. This match lifted the crowd.

© Triple H vs Chris Jericho

Undisputed Championship

****************************************

A great match here, which went back and forth and both men gaining a number of near falls. The match started slowly, with both men seemingly feeling each other out. Triple H managed to get the momentum after landing a reversing a Jericho headlock by bouncing the challenger off the ropes, and hitting a Double-A Spinebuster which got him a two count. The champion then hit a series of clothselines, before reeling off a high knee and teasing a Pedigree. Much to the crowds displeasure, Jericho managed to slither out and rolled to the outside to regroup.

Jericho used nearly the entire ten count before sliding back into the ring and locking up once more. Jericho slowed the pace down by applying a series of holds, before slapping on an ARMBAR! He followed this devastating manoeuvre with a kick to the gut, before bouncing off the ropes and hitting a Running Bulldog. Jericho then took the time to remind everyone in attendance that he was the “BEST IN THE WORLD!” However this would cost him, as he attempted a lionsault but ate nothing but canvas. This left both men down, and the ref began his ten count.

At around the count of five both men began to stir, and crawled towards the ropes. Triple H managed to get to his feet a moment before Jericho, allowing the champion to hit a Clothesline on the rising Jericho. He followed this up with another Clothesline, before setting up for another Pedigree. Again Jericho battled out, this time by getting hold of the champion’s legs and performing a double leg take down. After a brief struggle, Jericho was able to turn Triple H onto his stomach and lock in the Walls of Jericho. Triple H screams out in agony as Jericho drops his weight onto the champions back. Triple H reaches out for the ropes, but is agonisingly just inches short. Jericho drops even lower, putting more weight onto the back of Triple H, causing the champion to scream even more loudly. Triple H teases a tap out, before pushing himself up, and shuffling towards the ropes to cause the break. Jericho used most of his five count before breaking the hold, and didn’t give Triple H a moment to recover. He continued his attack with a series of clubbing blows to the back of Triple H. The champion looks in real trouble as Jericho sets up for a Suplex attempt, but Triple H blocks it! And he reverses the move into a Suplex of his own.

Both men regain their feet and Triple H goes for a wild clothesline, which Jericho easily ducks underneath. However, as Jericho bounces back of the ropes, the champion is able to nail a Double-A Spinebuster. Triple H goes for the cover, but only gets two. Triple H then goes for a Knee Drop, but Jericho is able to move out of the way. The two men rise, and Jericho is able to gain the advantage with a Dropkick. Jericho hauled Triple H up and seemed to be positioning for a Breakdown, but Triple H managed to hit a series of elbows to block the move. Triple H then took advantage of a dazed Jericho, setting him up for the Pedigree. Third time proved to be the charm, as the champion nailed his finisher and got the three.

In a superb bout that had great wrestling and a sizzling crowd, Triple H defeated Chris Jericho in 29:02 by pinfall with a Pedigree. Triple H makes defence number 1 of his WWF Undisputed title.

Rating: A

Triple H and Chris Jericho have great chemistry, and it showed in their performances. The match deserved better colour commentary. This match lifted the crowd.

After the match, Triple H is handed the Undisputed Title and begins to celebrate with the crowd. The PPV goes off air with a shot of Triple H posing on the turnbuckle, holding his title high in the air.

Really good PPV. If I didn't have a copy of the save I wouldn't believe some of those grades :p.

Yeah very impressive grades indeed. Perhaps I should take a booking course from CE. :D

And naturally, I approve of Mr. Perfect going over.

Great PPV!

Really loving this diary, (And the Smackdown! one of course!) keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words guys. It's been a lot of fun writing/booking this, so I'm glad people seem to be enjoying it :)

In other news, RAW should be up this afternoon/evening. I only have one more match to write up, so keep an eye out for that.

Broadcast Live from a sold out TD Waterhouse Centre in Orlando, Florida in front of 15,000 screaming fans. WWE presents...

Monday Night RAW

The show opens with an impressive pyro display, as Jim Ross welcomes fans to Monday Night RAW. He is joined at ringside by Paul Heyman.

JR: “Hell ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Monday Night RAW! We’re just 24 hours removed from Backlash, an event that answered a number of questions, but also raised a number more.”

Heyman: “And the most definitive answer of all was Brock Lesnar’s manhandling of Hulk Hogan! Hulkamania ended last night at Backlash!”

JR: “Judging by at all the Hulk Hogan merchandise in the arena tonight Paul, you may have to rethink your position. Hulkamania appears to be alive and well!”

****************************************

The announcers are cut off as the Nature Boys music hits, and Ric Flair makes his way to the ring.

Flair: “Last night at Backlash we saw some of the best in the world go toe to toe and give some of the best matches I’ve ever seen. And no one gave a better performance than the man who was victorious in the Main Event! My man, the Undisputed Champion Triple H! Whooo!”

Chris Jericho appears on the ramp, with a foul expression on his face.

JR: “That’s quite clearly not the Undisputed Champion, what the hell is Jericho doing out here?”

Jericho: “What a surprise. Ric Flair thinks ‘his man’ Triple H put in the best performance last night. We both know that the only reason Triple H was able to beat Y2J last night was because the two of you stacked the deck against me from the start.”

Flair: “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I…”

Jericho: “Shut up Flair. We both know I deserve to be the Undisputed Champion, and I want a rematch with Triple H and I want it tonight!”

Flair: “Now look here Jericho you had your chance at the Title! We have the best talent in the world here on RAW, and there are a dozen guys who deserve a shot at the gold. So I won’t be giving you another shot.”

Jericho: “What? I knew you were trying to hold me back Flair. Ever since I was drafted to RAW you’ve had it in for me!”

Flair: “I’ve just done my job. If you think you deserve another shot, then go and talk to Triple H. I don’t think you deserve another shot, but if Triple H tells me otherwise then I might just change my mind. Maybe you can ask him in your match later tonight?”

Jericho: “What match? What are you talking about?”

Flair: “Your match! Tonight’s Main Event! A three-man tag match, which sees the team of Chris Jericho, Booker T and Brock Lesnar take on the team of Hulk Hogan, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and the Undisputed Champion Triple H! Whooo!

The crowd cheers for the announcement of tonight’s blockbuster Main Event. Meanwhile Jericho goes absolutely nuts at the top if the ramp.

AJ Styles vs Raven

****************************************

Raven comes out with a foul look on his face after losing his title unification match with RVD last night. This bad mood translated in a ruthless streak from Raven, as he dominated this match and looked to really hurt his opponent. Young AJ Styles struggled to match his far more experienced opponent, but in his short bursts of offense he did show great athleticism. Despite Styles’ athleticism Raven never looked in real danger of losing, and hit the Raven Effect to pick up the win. In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Raven defeated AJ Styles in 6:17 by pinfall with a Raven Effect DDT.

Rating: C

The announcing quality lifted the match.

****************************************

Maven vs Mr Perfect

****************************************

Mr Perfect came into this match looking confident coming off of his victory last night against The Hurricane. Heyman took this opportunity to mock The Hurricanes ‘Hurri-Powers’, commenting that maybe he hadn’t quite ‘perfected’ them yet. Meanwhile, Perfect controlled of this match pretty much from the start, showing good technical skills to keep Maven from mounting any sustained offense. The end of the match came when Perfect locked in the Sharpshooter and forced Maven to tap. In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Mr. Perfect defeated Maven in 8:19 by submission with a Sharpshooter.

The announcing quality lifted the match.

We cut backstage, and the camera follows Ric Flair, who is walking through one of the backstage corridors. Flair opens the door to his office and steps inside.

Flair: “What are you doing here?”

The camera pans inside the office, and finds Raven relaxing in Ric Flair’s chair.

Raven: “Ric, last night, in a travesty of justice, I lost my Hardcore Championship to RVD, and I want to activate my rematch clause.”

Flair: “Actually since you lost your Title, it has been unified into the Intercontinental Title. Meaning you don’t have a rematch clause. Whooo!”

Raven: “Ric I implore you to give me my rematch... for once, make the right choice.”

Flair: “I already told you, there is no Hardcore Championship anymore. So you don’t have a rematch!”

Raven: (sighing) “Bad choice Ric, bad choice. This will have consequences for you, and I just hope you can live with them. As I’ve told you before Ric, your day of judgement is fast approaching. Quote The Raven Nevermore…”

With that Raven leaves the office, but Ric Flair shouts after him.

Flair: “You don’t have a rematch Raven. Not now, not ever. In fact I’m going to have a number one contenders match right now, with the winner getting a title shot next week! Whooo!”

Billy Kidman vs Bubba Ray Dudley vs Spike Dudley vs The Godfather

****************************************

We come back from the commercial break to find the four competitors for Ric Flair’s number one contenders match already in the ring. The match goes back and forth; with no one man ever really able to gain complete control of the match. For most of the match at least one, or sometimes two, of the competitors were on the outside, meaning that all four men were never in the ring at the same time. The finish came with Billy Kidman and Spike Dudley the only men in the ring. Billy Kidman managed to hit a spectacular Shooting Star Press, and rolled into the cover.

However, Bubba Ray Dudley recovered on the outside and pulled Kidman off the cover and out of the ring. Bubba then rolled into the ring and covered Spike himself, getting the three and the win. In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Bubba Ray Dudley defeated Billy Kidman, The Godfather and Spike Dudley in 7:49 when Bubba Ray Dudley defeated Spike Dudley by pinfall.

Rating: C+

The announcing quality lifted the match.

****************************************

Big Show vs CM Punk

****************************************

The Big Show comes out looking focused, with Heyman commenting that he was surprised Show wasn’t even on the card for Backlash last night. Heyman says that Big Show needs to do something to get himself noticed here on RAW, if he wants to be considered worthy of being on PPV. JR reminds Heyman that Big Show is a 7 foot giant, and one of the most imposing figures in WWE history! Show backs JR up, with a dominating victory over rookie CM Punk. In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Big Show defeated CM Punk in 5:55 by pinfall with a Showstopper.

Rating: C-

The announcing quality lifted the match. The colour commentary gave the match a boost. The performance of Big Show stood out as being good.

We go backstage and find Gerald Briscoe standing by with Chris Jericho.

Briscoe: “Chris you asked for this interview, as you said that you had something to say…”

Jericho (pushing Briscoe of camera): “The interview part of this segment is over. I asked for a camera because I have a message for Triple H. I know your little buddy Ric Flair said he wouldn’t give me a rematch for MY Undisputed Title, but he also said that if you said I deserved a rematch he would give me one. So Triple H I’m here to ask you to do the right thing and give Y2J the Undisputed Title match I deserve! But Triple H, I’m not just asking you to do it for me, no. I’m asking you to do it for all of these people. (crowd boos) These people deserve to see the best match possible, and Y2J defeating you for the Undisputed Title will be the best match anyone could ever ask for!”

Chris Benoit vs Billy

****************************************

To the surprise of many, Billy came out for this match alone without his partner Chuck or manager Rico. Even without their help, he managed to keep up with Benoit for large portions of this match and put in a good account of himself. However, despite keeping up with Benoit for the majority of the match, one mistake allowed ‘The Rabid Wolverine’ to lock in the Crippler Crossface. Billy struggled for a few moments, but was stuck in the middle of the ring and had no choice but to tap out. In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, Chris Benoit defeated Billy in 17:06 by submission with a Crippler Crossface.

We come back from yet more commercials, and see Billy backstage with Chuck and Rico. Chuck is consoling Billy on his loss, but Rico seems fairly upbeat. Billy sees Rico and asks why he’s so happy, did he not see that Billy just lost to Benoit.

Rico: “I have some fabulous news! Yours truly just spoke to Mr Flair, and he told me that because my boys were so amazing, outstanding, astounding, and of course... fabulous! Because of that, yours truly can choose who you boys will be facing at Bad Blood.”

Billy and Chuck look at each other with a confident look on their face.

Rico: “So I have a message for all of you boys in the tag division. I want you all to show your best colours, and to do something to catch my eye. You have six weeks until Bad Blood... impress me!”

We cut to another area backstage, where Gerald Briscoe is standing by with Triple H, Stone Cold and Hulk Hogan.

Briscoe: “Tonight these three men have a tag match against the three men they faced in singles competition 24 hours ago at Backlash. Stone Cold, Booker T was able to defeat you last night. Will that be playing on your mind tonight?”

Austin: “Will Booker T beating Stone Cold be playing on Stone Cold’s mind tonight? Will Booker T attacking Stone Cold from behind last week on RAW be playing on Stone Cold’s mind? You bet your ass it will, but they’re going to spur Stone Cold on to kick Booker’s teeth down his throat. Booker T has spent the last month attacking me from behind, but tonight I have two of the most decorated men in WWE history watching my back. That’s going to let me focus on doing what Stone Cold does best… kicking ass and drinking beer.”

Briscoe: “Hulk Hogan you also had problems with one of your opponents last night, with Brock Lesnar leaving you laid out after your match…”

Hogan: “Brock Lesnar got the jump on me last night brother, but tonight he’s going to feel the full force of Hulkamania as me and 15,000 Hulkamaniacs here in Orlando descend on Brock Lesnar and show him that Hulk Still Rules!”

Briscoe: “And Triple H, Chris Jericho has challenged you to a rematch after your victory last night. Any thoughts.”

Triple H: “I beat Jericho fair and square last night, and like Ric said earlier tonight there are a number of guys ready to step up and challenge for the most prestigious Title in the entire WWE. However, I will say that I will talk to Jericho face to face next week on RAW and let him know my decision.”

Briscoe: “Well there you have it, these three men are ready for our six-man tag Main Event… and that’s next!”

Triple H, Steve Austin & Hulk Hogan vs Chris Jericho, Booker T & Brock Lesnar

****************************************

The Heel’s come out first, individually of course, all to decent levels of heat… with Booker T somewhat surprising drawing the most boos from the crowd. The Faces then follow, with all three men getting huge pops from the pumped up crowd… this one should be good. The match begins with Stone Cold going straight after Booker T before the bell had even rung. Austin was able to get Booker off his feet with a Thesz Press, before throwing punch after punch after punch. Lesnar hauls him off, and looks to lock in the Brock Lock that he used to destroy Hogan to such effect at Backlash. Cue Hogan hitting the ring to break the hold and Clothesline Lesnar over the top rope, taking both men to the outside. Jericho watches as Lesnar hits the floor hard, and doesn’t notice Triple H sliding into the ring behind him. Jericho turns right into a right hand from the Undisputed Champion.

The next few minutes see the Faces brawling, and for the most part dominating, with their respective opponents from the previous night. However, the tide is slowly turned by the Heels. First to fight back is Lesnar, who was able to reverse an attempt from Hogan to whip him into the steel steps. With Hogan down after his impact onto the steps, Lesnar is able to help Booker T who is brawling with Austin. Lesnar clubbed Austin in the back, giving Booker the advantage. Seeing this causes Triple H to take his eye off of Jericho for a second, allowing Y2J to get a low blow in on the champion and roll him into the ring. The match then finally gets some order with the other competitors taking their positions on the apron.

Booker T and Jericho used regular tags to keep on top of Triple H, wearing the champion down by keeping him in the match. However, Jericho eventually made a mistake allowing Hogan to get the tag. Hogan hit the ring to a huge pop, and was able to take out both Jericho and Booker T. However he didn’t notice Lesnar enter the ring and turned into a huge Belly to Belly Suplex. The referee was able to get Lesnar back on the apron, but the damage had already been done. Booker took advantage of Lesnar’s suplex and dominated Hogan for a few minutes. He then tagged in Lesnar, who continued the attack on Hogan. Hogan seemed to have no response to Lesnar, and it looked over for the Faces. The crowd is hushed as Lesnar hits a huge Spinebuster to Hogan, before looking to bounce off the ropes… Jericho hits a blind tag!

Lesnar stops as he feels Jericho slap his back as he hits the ropes. Jericho enters the ring after the blind tag, but Lesnar steps in front of him. The two men get into a heated argument, with Jericho yelling at Lesnar to get out of his way and Lesnar seemingly unhappy at Jericho trying to ‘steal’ the win from Lesnar’s work. While the two men argue, they don’t notice as Hogan slowly crawls towards his corner. Lesnar eventually gives Jericho a long, hard stare, before leaving the ring and walking up the ramp. With Lesnar gone, Jericho sees Hogan looking to make the tag and dives across the ring to stop him… but it’s too late! The crowd pops as Stone Cold gets the tag, and immediately hits a Thesz Press on Jericho. Booker jumps in the ring to try and break it up, but Stone Cold is up and hits the Stunner! Jericho is back up… Stunner!

Stone Cold looks to his corner, and sees Triple H with his hand outstretched. Austin makes the tag, and Triple H stalks a downed Jericho. Jericho slowly gets to his feet, and is immediately set up for the Pedigree. Triple H makes the cover and gets the easy three. In a superb bout that had great wrestling and a sizzling crowd, Triple H, Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan defeated Chris Jericho, Booker T and Brock Lesnar in 19:25 when Triple H defeated Chris Jericho by pinfall with a Pedigree.

The match suffered because there was not enough selling shown. This match lifted the crowd.

After the match, the Faces celebrate the win with the crowd. First Hogan does his traditional poses for the crowd, before Austin gets some beers in for the winners. The three men celebrate on turnbuckles, drinking their beers and celebrating with the crowd.

The show finishes with Hogan doing some more poses, Austin downing his beer and finally a shot of Triple H holding his Undisputed Title aloft.

Broadcast Live from a sold out Target Centre, Minneapolis in front of 15,000 screaming fans. WWE presents...

Monday Night RAW

The show opens with an impressive pyro display, as Jim Ross welcomes fans to Monday Night RAW. He is joined at ringside by Paul Heyman.

As promised last week, Triple H makes his way to the ring to open the show. He gets a good reaction from the crowd as he makes his way out, and grabs a mic as he reaches the ring.

Triple H: “Now last week Chris Jericho came out to the ring and demanded that Ric Flair give him a rematch for the Undisputed Championship. Ric Flair told Jericho that he wouldn’t be getting a rematch unless I gave my say so. Now I promised Jericho that I would inform him of my decision tonight... so Chris why don’t you get yourself out here?”

Jericho makes his way out to a chorus of boos and joins Triple H in the ring.

Triple H: “Now Chris, believe me when I say that I’ve given this a lot of thought over the last week, and I still haven’t been able to make a decision... but I’m a generous man and I’ve decided to give you a chance to prove yourself. I’ve talked to Ric, and we’ve agreed to put you in tonight’s Main Event. Based on your performance in that match, I’ll let you know whether you’ve impressed me enough to earn your rematch.”

An uneasy rumbling comes from the crowd as they seem unhappy that Triple H is giving Jericho another chance.

Jericho: “That’s very generous of you Hunter. You may as well pencil the match into your diary, because it doesn’t matter who I’m facing in tonight’s Main Event. I’m the best in the world, and I’ll prove once again that RAW IS JERICHO!”

Triple H: “Well good luck in your match tonight Chris. I’m sure it will be one of the biggest tests of your career...”

AJ Styles vs Mr Perfect

****************************************

Mr Perfect is out next, and once again puts in a good performance here. He put on a real technical exhibition here, with Heyman hailing it a ‘perfect performance’ on commentary as he never gave Styles a chance. After toying with his younger opponent for a bit, Perfect was able to hit the Perfect-Plex for the win. In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Mr. Perfect defeated AJ Styles in 5:52 by pinfall with a Perfect-plex.

Chris Benoit vs Rico

****************************************

Next up we have Chris Benoit, fresh off of his win over Billy last week. Rico is out to try and get some retribution for his client’s loss last week, but never really looked like he could put the ‘Rabid Wolverine’ in any real difficulty. Benoit was ruthlessly efficient here, and was able to lock in the Cripple Crossface to get another win. In a match that had some good action and average heat, Chris Benoit defeated Rico in 7:51 by submission with a Crippler Crossface.

Sabu vs Brock Lesnar

****************************************

We come back from a commercial break to find Sabu being given the ‘already in-ring entrance’ treatment. Lesnar does get his theme music however, and that’s probably a good indication of how this match is going to go. Sabu did start quickly, and managed to get in more offense than most of Lesnar’s opponents over the past month on RAW. However it was short lived, and Lesnar’s power soon proved to be too much for his smaller opponent. Lesnar could have put Sabu away quickly, but Lesnar seemed to want to punish his opponent for having the audacity to attack him. After a few minutes Lesnar hit the F-5 and got the easy three. In a match that had some good action and average heat, Brock Lesnar defeated Sabu in 6:19 by pinfall with an F-5.

Rating: C+

The announcing quality lifted the match.

****************************************

After the match Lesnar hauled Sabu back to his feet and hit yet another F-5, leaving him in a heap in the middle of the ring. Lesnar posed for the crowd a bit, before going back to Sabu and locking in the Brock Lock… the move he had used to injure Hulk Hogan at Backlash. Speak of the devil…

Hogan’s out to a huge pop from the sold out crowd, and hits the ring. However Brock saw him coming and released the hold. The two men stare each other out, with neither giving an inch. After what seems like an eternity, Brock seems to laugh to himself and leaves the ring. Hogan watches Lesnar make his way up the ramp, before turning his attention to Sabu and making sure he is alright.

We go backstage and find Gerald Briscoe standing by with Chris Jericho.

Briscoe: “Chris, earlier tonight Triple H set up a match for you to prove yourself and earn your chance at a rematch for the Undisputed Championship...”

Jericho: “I’m going to stop you right there. First of all I don’t need to ‘prove myself’ to anyone. In case everyone’s forgotten, I was the first ever Undisputed Champion. I beat The Rock AND ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin all in one night! I’ve proved time and again that I’m the best in the world, and I don’t need to jump through Triple H’s hoops to prove that. But you know what? If all I need to do is beat some chump to get another shot at the Undisputed Championship, then so be it. I’ll win my match tonight, and then I’ll move on to Bad Blood and beat Triple H to become the first ever two-time WWE Undisputed Champion!”

Funaki vs Konnan

****************************************

Viewers are reminded of the impact Konnan made on his debut, where he helped Booker T take out ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. He looked equally impressive in this match, showing good technique against Funaki. Funaki had a few bursts of offense, but never really looked like knocking off Konnan. In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Konnan defeated Funaki in 5:34 by submission with a Tequila Sunrise.

We go backstage and find Stone Cold ready to speak to the camera.

Austin: “Two weeks ago at Backlash, Stone Cold got screwed by Booker T and his little buddy. Now Stone cold got his revenge on Booker last week by givin’ him the Stone Cold Stunner and getting the victory along with Triple and Hulk Hogan.”

The crowd cheers.

Austin: “But while Stone Cold has got some closure with Booker T, there’s still one more problem he needs to deal with. Konnan, Stone Cold saw you beat Funaki.

Crowd: "What?"

Stone Cold: "Do you think that makes you a tough guy?”

Crowd: “What?”

Austin: “Think you can take on Stone Cold Steve Austin?”

Crowd: “What?”

Austin: “Well we're 'bout to find out. Konnan, I’ll see your ass in that ring next week on RAW, and Stone Cold is gonna whoop your ass... and that’s the bottom line, ‘cause Stone Cold says so.”

We cut to a pre-recorded video, which shows Raven alone in a dimly lit room.

Raven: “A single Raven is subject to the wants, to the desires, of the dangerous and often toxic environment in which the creature finds itself. However, the Raven that resides in a flock can find, in its flock-mates, some protection from said environment. The flock can overcome levels of adversity that a single Raven cannot. If Ric Flair is to make this environment a toxic place, then this Raven must find his flock. So it is written, and so it shall pass. In my flock I shall find my salvation, and my flock shall find its salvation in me... Quote The Raven Nevermore...”

© Rob Van Dam vs Bubba Ray Dudley

Intercontinental Championship

****************************************

This match was made when Bubba Ray Dudley won a number one contenders match last week on RAW. Bubba managed to prevent RVD from using his speed to gain control of the match early on, turning it into a brawl. While you would think this would suit Bubba Ray Dudley and his extra size, the striking ability of RVD meant that it was a very even contest for the most part.

After trading strikes back and forth for a good five minutes, RVD was able to gain control of the match with an Enziguiri. He followed this up by whipping Bubba into the corner, he then hit the Monkey Flip sending the big man flying across the ring. RVD looked to follow this up with a Rolling Thunder, but Bubba was able to get his knees up to reverse it. Bubba took advantage of this; hitting a series of Bionic Elbows, which he followed with a Scoop Slam. Bubba then hit the Bubba Bomb, and went for the cover. 1… 2… kick out!

Bubba looks furious and begins arguing with the referee, yelling at him that it was a three count. He continued yelling for a good amount of time, before turning back to RVD… and eating a Roundhouse Kick. RVD took full advantage of this, heading to the top rope and hitting the Five Star Frog Splash. RVD made the cover, 1… 2… 3! In a bout that featured great action and average heat, Rob Van Dam defeated Bubba Ray Dudley in 17:25 by pinfall with a Five Star Frog Splash. Rob Van Dam makes defence number 3 of his WWF Intercontinental title.

We go backstage and find D-Von and Stacey Kiebler standing by a TV monitor, obviously having just watched Bubba Ray’s match. Stacey asks D-Von to get her some water, so he walks off camera. Val Venis then walks into shot, and starts to hit on Stacey Kiebler. The two flirt for a little while, until D-Von walks back into shot with Stacey’s water. D-Von gets into Val’s face, and the two argue. Val pushes D-Von, knocking the water from D-Von’s hand... and right onto Stacey Kiebler’s top. Stacey screams at D-Von, while Val Venis walks from shot laughing to himself. D-Von stays to try and comfort Stacey, but she does not look happy...

We then cut to Gerald Briscoe, who is standing by with Booker T.

Briscoe: “Booker T, in last week’s Main Event you were defeated in…”

Booker T grabs the microphone, and shoves Briscoe out of shot.

Booker: “Get out of here sucka. Let’s get one thing straight, last week Chris Jericho was defeated by Triple H. In my last match, Booker T pinned ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin one, two, three in the middle of the ring! Yet still you sucka’s don’t give me the respect I deserve! I’m a five time, five time, five time, five time, five time WCW Champion! I can beat anyone on RAW, and I’m gonna prove it. I’m issuing an open challenge for next week. I’m asking anyone who I haven’t faced since I got drafted here on RAW to come down to the ring so I can whoop their ass! Now can you dig that sucka?”

Big Show vs Chris Jericho

****************************************

Chris Jericho comes out; still unsure as to who his opponent is going to be. He gestures for his opponent to get out there, and his opponent’s music hits revealing Triple H’s hand-selected opponent to be… the Big Show! Jericho looks furious, and bails from the ring as Big Show enters it. Jericho takes his time before getting back into the ring, but eventually the match gets underway. The first five minutes of the match involved Jericho keeping Big Show off his feet with with a variety of submission holds. However, after five minutes the Big Shows power came through, with Big Show breaking out of a Jericho sleeper hold. Big Show hit a Sidewalk Slam to take Jericho off his feet, and followed up with a Body Slam. Big Show stayed on top of Jericho with a series of open hand chops, sending Jericho to the mat. However, Show then went for a big leg drop, but Jericho moved out of the way causing Show to crash to the mat with a thud. Jericho then began to work on the legs of the downed giant with a series of stomps and submission holds.

When Big Show regained his feet, he was selling an injury to his right leg, struggling to put weight on it. Big Show was able to land a couple of right hands, before setting Jericho up for the Chokeslam. However, Jericho struggled out behind Big Show, and hit a chop block to take the giant off his feet. Jericho lifted Big Show to his feet and whipped him off the ropes, before eating a Big Boot from Show. Show set Jericho up for another Chokeslam, but this time his leg gave out and he collapsed to the mat screaming in agony. Jericho took advantage and hit a Lionsault out of nowhere. Big Show was in trouble now, and the next time he struggled back to his feet Jericho easily avoided the wild right hand before performing the double leg takedown and locking in the Walls of Jericho. Show stuggled for a while, but eventually had no choice but to tap. In a match that had a fantastic crowd and great wrestling action, Chris Jericho defeated Big Show in 16:55 by submission with a Walls of Jericho.

After the match, Jericho grabs a mic and calls out Triple H.

Jericho: “Hunter get out here! I passed your stupid little test, now get out here and announce our rematch for Bad Blood and make it official! Do it now!”

The crowd go nuts as the Undisputed Champion Triple H makes his way out to the top of the ramp.

Triple H: “Congratulations Chris, tonight you proved you are one of the best competitors in the WWE by defeating the Big Show. However, you won’t be getting a title shot at Bad Blood.”

The crowd pops.

Triple H: “Did you really think I’d go behind my friends back and demand that you got a title shot? I’m sorry Chris, the Undisputed will be on the line at Bad Blood... but not against you.”

Jerihco goes absolutely nuts in the ring. Heyman is almost as angry on commentary, while JR commends Triple H for not going behind Ric Flair’s back to get Jericho a shot. JR then speculates as to who may step up and be Triple H’s challenger at Bad Blood, before thanking the fans for joining us and ending the show.
