NGW4LIFE
So come Feb 1 when support for your previous games over at .400 offically dies, any chance we will see those games become freeware/shareware like most other abandoned software? Bryan Swartz
.400 still owns the games so you are asking in the wrong place. I'd say the answer to that is a definite no though.
Adam Ryland
TEW won't be being released as freeware\shareware, no.
TC Dale
Actually the only games that are affected by the .400 company closing are TDCB, TPF, and CAD, those will never be released into public domain due to issues per the legal settlement. Farrah is the only person that has the code for those games, and since she is the sole owner of .400 Software Studios now, according to the agreement, they won't be released. Gary and Adam have their own agreements with previous versions, and it will be their decision what and how to handle older versions of the games they have created here at Grey Dog. You would need to discuss that with them. And as Adam has said, it is his property, so he can do what he sees fit with it. :) Same holds for Gary. Arlie's games were the only legal hurdles for the settlement. Any further activity will be decided by the programmers of their games.
cappyboy
TEW won't be being released as freeware\shareware, no.
And really, why should it at this time? .400 may be going by the boards but Adam's still very much active in making new programs. Besides, Viatech will still be dealing with license issues for TEW 04. As long as that remians the case, I wouldn't expect Adam to say anything less. It would be foolish for him to do anything else. NGW4LIFE
Meh, I just thought it'd be a nice way to drive interest in their newer games
