Transfers Nobody wants off my sinking ship, so I guess that's a plus. There are several excellent players "very highly" interested in transferring to USC. Notice the text on the left about the downside to recruiting these guys, in addition to the year they have to sit. QB Dowdell plays at CLEM and is frustrated. Well, no ****. I'd be mental if I had to play there. :D We offer him, ILB Traylor (wants PT), OG Hall, RB Williams. and OT Rodriguez for the hell of it. In week 2, all our targets are stil alive, and a 52/74 TE is now "Very Highly" interested. We offer him too. In week 3, we find that the TE went elsewhere, and one of our players decided to transfer after all. It happens to be our stud OLB Fox, whom I redshirted. That really doesn't make any sense to me. I guess if I had known he was unhappy, I would have played him. Unfortunately, there is no way to learn of every player's morale except by clicking on every player. That sucks. In week 4, we lose out on all the transfers. Time to try and rebuild the team.

I upgraded to the latest patch and turned off academic suspensions and put injuries at "average." I like the idea of academics being included in a college FB sim, but this implementation is just not fun. Recruiting I have one player interested in coming to SC.
Coach Shaw, I am an up-and-coming Inside Linebacker and think I could really step in and help South Carolina. I have really improved my play over the past season and you can check my game tape to see yourself. I currently live in Texas and I am probably not even on your radar. Still, I would love to visit South Carolina and meet with you and the team. I know you have a limited number of scholarships, but I think you won't regret giving me a shot to join up with the Game****s. So, I hope you will consider me in your recruiting efforts. Sincerely, Kyries Hampton
Kyries "Mr. Mister" Hampton (***) is the 53rd best ILB prospect in the country, 537th overall. He's the 2nd highest-rated prospect with a "10" interest in us. We will recruit him heavily. Let's evaluate our needs, based on the remaining roster. It appears the player ratings have changed a bit with the new coaches. My OC is not that great at scouting, but my new DC is excellent.

All my QB look worse now. King really suffered with the new eyes on him, as his potential dropped 9 pts. Brown lost 3 pts current but gained 2 pts future. Bottom Line: We need a QB.

Losing man-child OLB Fox was huge. Luckily, our guys left are still solid and nobody graduates, but we do have 3 JRs. We need 1 guy for depth. ILB is in flux. We play a 4-3, so depth is not really an issue. We do need to replace the SR. Bottom Line: We need 1 ILB (Hampton?) and could take up to 2 OLB to get ready for next year.

Well, the above list has us needing 22 players on the low end. We have 14 scholarships. With that in mind, we rank our needs thusly: OL DL WR CB OLB S K QB RB I go ahead and scout ILB Hampton and offer him. I plan to just "Scout" players this week and not "Recruit" them with $$$ effort and a pitch. I'm not sure if this is wise or not, but with limited funds, I need to scout as many players as possible.

I'll start by putting every 3-star and above player with an "8" and above rating on my watch list. That's 16 players. Oof. I scout all of them. I have $40,000 left. Now I sort by players in SC and then in the SE region. Let's see what I find. I'll describe the players by name, then (interest level), then stars. QB Ron Schroeder (10) *** is an (A) and mobile QB from SC. He is the #537 overall prospect. Seems to be a good candidate for WR or S. Rodney Kubiak (8) *** is a balanced QB and the #725 overall from GA. 2 other guys are interesting. Shannon Nowland (10) ** from SC is only looking at us and CLEM and has good stats. I scout him. Chad Mitchell (8) ** from MS is worth a scout. Derrick Byrd (10) ** is an (A) from UT who could definitely be moved. I scout him. Bobby Glover (9) *** is an (A) from PA who is worth a look. RB No local *** RB are above a 7 in interest, so we expand our boundaries. Raymond Morton (10) *** is the 55th best RB and gets a look. Dorsey Russell (9) *** is the 56th best RB and from MO. We don't really need a RB, so we will concentrate on these 2. WR Bob King (10) *** from CA and Rich Domres (9) *** are obvious targets. Then it gets thin. Locally, Billy Roberts (10) ** is fast and worth a look. Paul Beasley (8) ** is a burner as is Mike Baschnagel (8) **. We take a flyer on Kevin Upshaw (7)(A) ***, John Brookins (7)(A) *** and Frank Buckhalter (7) ***. TE Ugh. No decent targets. I take flyers on Tom Thigpen (7) *** and Donnell Holliday (7) ***. Nobody else is worth a look yet. OT Huge need area. Lam Riley (9) *** is our primary target, along with Vince LeClair (8) ***. I take flyers on Keith Thomas (7) ****, Mike Saxton (7) ***, Willie Williams (7) *** and Mike Detmer (7) ***. OG Another need. I look at the best available, Nick Roaches (8) *** and Ed Kaufman (8) ***. I also look at Chris Stukes (10) **, Jim Cash (10) ** and Rodney Waters (10) **. Everyone else sucks. DE Ugh. The only guy more than "5" interested in me is JC guy Jerry Moore (10) **. Bad, bad, bad. What the hell do I do here? I go ahead and scout a SC guy, Mark Spearman (5) *** for the hell of it. This is not good. Certainly more than 1 DE in the country would be slightly interested in SC, no? DT Wow, it gets no better. All the guys with "8" or higher interest are 1-star except for 1. I scout him, Rich VandenBosch (8) **. I scout a few flyers, Tom Nash (7) **** and Keith Costa (7) **, a JC guy. I go ahead and scout the (10) guys, Rob Eason and Tony Dyson. ILB Hampton is the obvious target here, but I look at Ricky Tuten (9) *** as well. I look at a local ** guy with (10) interest: Reggie Snow. OLB We look at Ed Paschos (10) ***, Nu Viaslic (10) **, and Brock Strock (8) ***. We take a flyer on Derrick Atkins (7) ****. CB Vance Hester (9) *** is the main target, and we look at local ** guys with 8 or better interest: Willie Walsh (10), Jeff Hamilton (9) and Seth Teal (8). S NO FREE SAFETY IN THE COUNTRY HAS MORE THAN "4" INTEREST IN US. This is unacceptable. I turn to SS and ONLY ONE GUY HAS MORE THAN "3" INTEREST IN US. Please. We scout him, Robert Dyer (9) ***. How can I recruit any S with this? K We look at Mark Costa (7) *** and Chris COleman (7) ***. We have $8000 left and use it on players from SC: K Henry Ramsey (10) * DT Marcus Rice (8) * OG Wayne Randall (7) *** DE Mark Spearman (5) *** FS Scott Minter (4) ** SS Vernon Smith (3) **** From the SE: TE Cliff Webster (9) ** CB DeJhown Shaw (8) ** WR Charlie Covington (9) ** CB Bob McAddley (8) ** DT Fred Galloway (9) * Visits We accept visits from ILB Hampton, QB Schroeder, OLB Pashos, WR king and RB Morton.
Players recruited that committed to other schools OG Wayne Randall - LSU OLB Brock Strock - Army DT Keith Costa - Fresno State OT Lam Riley - Tulane TE Donnell Holliday - Southern Miss ILB Ricky Tuten - Southern Miss
We miss out on OT Riley and OLB Strock, which hurts. It opens up 2 scholies, which we promptly offer to OLB Vlasic and DT Rice. Let's look at recruiting status by position. QB We have an offer still outstanding to QB(A) Schroeder ***. We are his only offer, but 3 teams are interested. We missed his pitch. His passing rating is 66, but his running skills are 107 (?!?) and his catching is a 50. He may very well move if we get him. Our Plan B is Shannon Nowland **, whose passing/running/catching is 64/62/56. CLEM is his only other interested team, and we nailed his pitch (location). We are allocating 1000 effort. Plan Cs include Derrick Byrd **, who is the highest-scouted passer. Only Byrd has not visited. RB We have offered Raymond Morton *** and are his only offer. Has has visited. He is 69 running and 59 catching. Plan B guys are Gary Leremia-Stansbu (10) ** and Jimmy Taylor (A)(9) **. We have not scouted them yet. WR We have offered Rich Domres *** and Billy Roberts ** and are their only offers. They have visited. Domres does not have great ratings, but I stay on him b/c perhaps the *** rating is more accurate than my scouts. Plan B guys are Charlie Covington with no offers. We are spending 2000/week on him and he visited. We need some other Plan Bs, so we scout Napoleon Edwards (9) ** with his 4.54 40. TE No offers. We are scouting Billy Alworth (8) *** and will see how his interest evolves. He has an offer from TENN. We have scouted Ciff Webster (7) ** who has 4 offers on the table from smaller schools. We have several * guys with high interest who are Plan Cs. OT We are the only offer to Vince LeClair (10) ***, who has visited. He is 81 in blocking, and would be a huge add. We missed his pitch, but are allocating 3000 effort. Plan B guys are Mike Detmer (7) *** who is only a 51 blocking and has an offer from SMISS. We have 2000 effort to him and pitch this week. We'll see how the late pitch effects his interest. He has not visited either. No other decent prospects. OG Offers to Nick Roaches *** and Ed Kaufman ***. They are 69 and 55 in blocking and we are their only offers. They have visited. We missed their pitches and are using 2000 effort. Plan B guys: Rodney Waters (10) ** who is a 63 blocking and has visted. We have not recruited him yet, but pitch him and spend 3000 this week. He has no offers. We are scouting Tony Swilling (7) *** this week. We are keeping our eyes on Tedy Thomas (10) ** as a Plan C. DE Offer to Jerry Moore, a JUCO guy with adequate ratings. We got his pitch and allocate 2000/wk. He has visted and we are his only offer. Plan B guys: Nobody exists with more than 5 interest, which is idiotic. We have scouted 2 *** guys, and the only possible one is Mark Spearman (5). We missed his pitch and are allocating 1000/wk. No visit. DT The only guys with interest are *, and we are the only offers for 2: Tony Dyson and Marcus Rice. They have adequate ratings and have visited. Plan B guys: Rob Eason (10) * has visited and would be adequate. We give 2000 effort. We scout Darrell Jordan (7) *. ILB Kyries Hampton sent the email and we are his only offer. We got his pitch and have 4000 effort to him. We need this guy. Plan B: Reggie Snow (10) ** has 2 offers and has visited. We are using 1000 effort and missed his pitch. OLB We lost our #1 target and offer Nu Vlasic **. He has visited and we give 200 effort and nailed his pitch. He has nice ratings. Plan B: Ed Pashos (10) *** has visited but has worse ratings than Vlasic and no offers. We have not recruited him yet. There are several ** guys with (9) interest who could be backup plans, and we scout one of them: Rabin Withrow (9) **. CB We are the only offer for Seth Teal ** and missed his pitch. We give 3000 effort. Plan B: Troy Mayberry (10) ** has visited and has no offers. We pitch and recruit him this week, but no offer yet. Jeff Hamilton (A)(9) ** has visited and we give 2000 effort. He has an offer from Vandy. FS No offers. Nobody has over a 4 interest in us. There are very few * guys in the pool. I'll chalk it up to an anomaly in the distribution this year. We were spending 2000/wk on Keith Williams (3) **** who has no offers, but we have no real chance at him. We can use the $$ elsewhere to scout. SS We are fighting USF and Vandy for Robert Dyer ***. He has visited and we allocate 2000/wk. Plan B: We need Dyer b/c nobody else in the pool is more than a 3 interest. I hope we can find some guys next year; otherwise, we're screwed. K No visits. Plan B: We are scouting Tyrone Freeman (7) *** b/c he has no other offers. We have lots of * guys iwith (10) interest who may be possibles. Visits DT Rice, RB Leremia-Stansbu, OG Tedy Thomas, QB Byrd and a (7) *** OLB Tim Williams who has not been scouted, but is the only *** guy who wants to visit. We will scout him next week.

Week 14 We lose SS Robert Dyer to USF, so at a position of great need, we have ZERO prospects with higher than a 4 interest in us. UNACCEPTABLE. We are alive with everyone else and have a scholie free. QB Schroeder now has an offer from FLORIDA. Great. We spend 3000 on Byrd. RB Still only offer for Morton. We scout Leremia-Stansbu. Jimmy Taylor drops to 2 interest. WR We seem to be back in the mix with Bob King (8) *** who has nice ratings and no offers. Domres doesn't have great ratings, so we pull our offer and interest. Risky move, but he ain't that great. We give the offer and effort to King, who has the best ratings of any WR we scouted. TE Alworth's interest doesn't change. OT Still only offer to LeClair. Detmer's interest plunges. We scout a guy whose writeup seems promising, Tai Natkin (8) *. OG TENN offers Roaches, so he's likely gone. No offers for Kaufman. Swilling turns our to be a 63 blocking but his interest is still (7). Waters is still a (10) as is Thomas, who we scout this week. Waters may get the new offer. DE Still only offer to DE Jerry Moore. Spearman is stil a (5). DT Still only offers to Dyson and Rice. Jordan's interest dies, but he sucked anyway. We may offer Eason. We scout Oscar Witcher (10) * who has nice numbers. ILB Hampton still our guy. Snow still a backup and a new entry gets scouted: Josh Wrightman (10) ***. OLB Still targeting Vlasic. Withrow scouts well. Pashos loses interest to (9). The new guy that visited, OLB Tim Williams (9) *** needs to be scouted, but we have no $$$. Let's see how this affects his interest. CB Still on Teal. I go ahead and offer Mayberry. FS & SS You know how I feel about this. Losing Dyer is a crushing blow. K Freeman has no interest now. Visits DT Witcher and ILB Wrightman are the only targeted guys who visit. We pick the highest-rated guys on the list to take the remaining visits to try and sway them: WR Bjornson, CB Crockett, and OLB Sweeney.

Week 15 We finally land some guys!
Players committing to South Carolina OG Nick Roaches QB Ron Schroeder OLB Nu Vlasic DT Marcus Rice
Getting Schroeder away from FL was nice and Roaches from TENN is better. Vlasic is good and Rice fills a need. We lose out on a Plan B guy, ILB Snow, but hopefully we won't need him. QB As a result of signing Schoeder, Byrd has no interest. We get his $$ back. Nowland is still interested, and could walk on. How does BBCF work here? Are walkons random, or players you scouted? We'll see. RB Still on Morton. Taylor has no interest and Leremia-Stansbu scouted horribly. We scout Michael Boldin ** and Stan Hicks *, who have (9) interest. WR King and Covington now are not interested. Interesting. We take back the offer and $$$. Domres is still interested, amazingly. Roberts is still our #1 guy. We need another target so we recruit and scout Bjornson, the surprise visit last week. We also scout Damian Wilhelm (10) ** and Chad Wolfley (10) **. TE Alworth hasn't changed, but we recruit him and offer in a chance to turn him. OT Still targeting LeClair. Natkin didn't scout that well and lost interest (7). OG We got our #1 guy, but still need another OG. Kaufman is still interested, so we keep pursuing. Waters is a (10) now and is a prime Plan B. Thomas scouted poorly. We scout Jeff Kane (8) ** DE Spearman committed to CLEM. Moore still our target. We take a flyer and scout DE Elivs Watton (3) ** because he has no offers. DT Dyson now has no interest after Rice commits. That frees up an offer, which we give to Rob Eason. We also recruit Tom Nash (7) **** for the hell of it. ILB Hampton still our guy. Wrightman didn't scout well. We scout Taman Ojo (8) ***. OLB We get Vlasic, and everyone else is still interested. We scout Williams and new target Bert Jones (9) ***. We pitch and recruit Withrow. CB Still on Teal and Mayberry. Hamilton is still interested. We scout Bob Dunsmore (10) **. S **** THIS GAME. Sorry, got excited there. We scout FS Terry Mayberry (2) ** and SS Fred Keith (2) ** for the hell of it. --------------------------- We have some money and offers to throw around now, so we look around. and scout some guys, who are addressed above. Week 16 Nobody commits, but we lose out on: TE Alworth (no surprise) OLB Bert Jones The Alworth signing frees up a scholie, and we need to decide where to put it. I decide to offer OT Detmer. Losing interest: WRs Edwards, Wolfrey, Wilhelm We have NO MONEY available. How is that possible? WTF? I should get back the $$$ used to scout last week. This makes no sense. Visits Surprise interest from ILB Bob Mills (8) ****. We accept his visit, along with OT Detmer (offered), ILB(A) Teague, and 2 random guys, WR Jeff Jowers ** who had 7 INTS and TE Chris Baker * who had 10 sacks. Maybe he could be a DE. I still can't believe we have no money. Is this a bug?

Week 17 NOW we have $6000. You have to be kidding me. Players committing to South Carolina ILB Kyries Hampton OG Ed Kaufman We got our ILB and finished off our OG recruiting. We lose out on OT Mike Detmer. Let's review what we have with 1 week left. QB Nowland is still interested. I would love to have him walk on. RB Still the only offer for Morton. Hicks is terrible. WR Bjornson has no interest, so that frees up $4000... or does it? Whew... it does. We scout Jason Jowers. TE Chris Baker is very interested, so we scout him. OT TENN is now on LeClair. We recruit and offer OT Kane. We scout Tom Lisch (8) ***. OG None DE Still only offer for Moore. Watton still has (3) interest but no offers. I try and recruit him. DT Still only team on Eason. ILB None OLB WIlliams and Withrow are still interested. I'm thinking Withrow could be a DE (6-2, 228) b/c he had 7 sacks this year. We are the main player with him... I'd love for him to walk on. I may end up offering him as a DE anyway. CB Still on Teal and Mayberry, but have lots of Plan Bs in Dunsmore and Hamilton. FS Mayberry has a (2) interest and no offers. I try and recruit him for the hell of it. Visits We bring in a K Stephen Romo to see if perhaps he will walk on. OLB Withrow also shows up, along with TE(A) Stubblefield and WRs T. Mealey and T. Goodlow.

Final Recruit Tally Players committing to South Carolina OT Vince LeClair WR Billy Roberts DE Jerry Moore CB Seth Teal CB Troy Mayberry DT Rob Eason
The following recruits ended up coming to South Carolina: QB Ron Schroeder, 3-stars Williston-Elko (Williston, SC) National Rank: 537, Regional: 126, Position: 23 WR Billy Roberts, 3-stars Dutch Fork (Irmo, SC) National Rank: 928, Regional: 221, Position: 100 OT Vince LeClair, 3-stars Ringgold (Ringgold, GA) National Rank: 607, Regional: 147, Position: 53 OG Nick Roaches, 3-stars Manning (Manning, SC) National Rank: 608, Regional: 148, Position: 46 OG Ed Kaufman, 3-stars Richland Northeast (Columbia, SC) National Rank: 729, Regional: 169, Position: 48 DT Rob Eason, 2-stars Pickens (Pickens, SC) National Rank: 1659, Regional: 370, Position: 48 DT Marcus Rice, 1-stars Wade Hampton (Hampton, SC) National Rank: 2263, Regional: 532, Position: 129 DE Jerry Moore, 2-stars Copiah-Lincoln CC (MS), Columbia, SC, HS - SC National Rank: 1420, Regional: 309, Position: 106 ILB Kyries Hampton, 3-stars Forsan (Forsan, TX) National Rank: 558, Regional: 96, Position: 53 OLB Nu Vlasic, 3-stars Stephenson (Stone Mountain, GA) National Rank: 891, Regional: 209, Position: 88 CB Seth Teal, 2-stars Hoover (Hoover, AL) National Rank: 1636, Regional: 365, Position: 200 CB Troy Mayberry, 2-stars Pateros (Pateros, WA) National Rank: 1676, Regional: 360, Position: 207
I don't know what happened to RB Morton. He's nowhere to be found. I ended up 2 scholarships short. I filled my needs at LB, OG and CB, and that's it. Not even being ABLE to fill needs at DE and S is ridiculous. That is almost a big enough flaw to make me shelve this game forever. There should NEVER be a paucity of players. When I look at my roster, I got RB Marion Crowe on scholarship, but I never recruited him. I got a redshirt TE, ILB and K that I never recruited. That's a severe shortcoming, IMHO. The walkons should first come from players you recruited. We'll look at their ratings later, but there are no obvious breakouts. CB Teal is much worse in COV that anticipated. Overall, this class cannot compete in the SEC. Player Training Boy, this looks really tedious. I "Suggest All" and save. Time for the new season. I can only hope it's better than the first one.

Roster Let's take a look at the roster. The first numbers are before offseason training, and the second numbers are after. This is a massive pain to report. We need the ability to create custom reports like this. While these are just the "overall" changes, there were lots of changes in attributes. These are visible by clicking the "player development" button in roster view, but no report shows them. Just another example of a needed report. For some reason, Brown's potential dropped during the offseason. How realistic is that? On the other hand, Harry's went way up. Too bad he's a SR. King was a 48/66 when I started, now he's a backup. My recruit, Ron Schroeder, really should be a RB as he has the best RUN skills on the team (92!!!), but I will redshirt him this year and start Harry with Brown #2. Harry is more accurate (62) and has a slightly weaker arm (51) than Brown. Neither King nor H. Schoeder are accurate enough to play yet. Lisbon was a 47/60 as a true FR and took a hit. Montoya was a 40/58 and is better now. Neither are very fast. Montoya is a better runner (63) and Lisbon has better hands (57), so they will be the starter/3rd down back, respectively. The unwanted one, unrecruited Crower, will RS. Too bad he DIED during the offseason. Couch and Wayne are quality FB and both have better RUN skills than any RB. Wayne is a ferocious RBlocker (73). I would look into switching Couch's position, but the game won't even let me think about it b/c that would "put me below the minimum at the position." Lots of development here, good and bad. Stanciel started as 48/64, so he has more upside now. Recruit Roberts took a bit of a hit and will RS. Moore came in as 49/55 and is now topped out. Centers was 54/67 at the start and is the obvious #1 guy. Von Oelhoffen looked good before camp, especially since he started as a 42/52, but is back down the depth chart now. Centers and Moore will start and Stanciel is the #3. Walk-on TE Carswell will RS. Chamberlain is the best blocker and Rasby the best route runner. Rasby came in as a 43/59.

At OT, Jones was a 46/67 and stayed constant. Layne made a nice jump from 45/47. LeClair looks like a nice recruit and will redshirt. His RB is already at 73! Peters improved from 48/64 and Sams declined slightly. Ware made huge strides from his 59/59 as a JR. Sams and Ware are the best PB (67 and 74) but Peters is a better run blocker than Sams and will start at RT, Ware at LT. At OG, new recruit Roaches is a stud and will play as a true FR at LG. He is the best RB and PB among the OG already. Other FR Kaufman could be good and will RS. Dupre is a bit better from his 46/59 but lost some potential during the offseason. Tucker is a tiny bit better than Dupre but has much less discipline, so he will backup Dupre and Roaches. At C, nobody reall got better. Rychlec got worse from 35/57. Finks is the obvious starter and Rychlec the #2. At DE, JUCO recruit Jones is adequate depth, which is all we expected him to be. Morgan regressed from 49/65, Rahn from 42/60. Robinson is still the man, getting a little worse from 59/77, but will line up against the RT because Dillon is the best pass rusher and will get the opposite side. We are deep here. At DT, recruits Rice and Eason are capable, Eason with more upside and will RS. Gammon is less ready after his RS year, from 46/56. Ogden and Geason are about the same and will start. At ILB, recruit Hampton looks to be the real deal and will RS, although we have to keep an eye on his morale. Walkon Hall is a career backup and can RS. Frederickson is the man, and is likely a 4-year starter after gaining 4 potential. Marsh and Scarber are backups. At OLB, recruit Vlasic will RS and could start with more development. Wells and Wonsley are the obvious starters. Wonsley is the better tackler by far. He will play at SLB, although I'm not sure if that's the best choice. What criteria do you guys look for in a SLB vs. a WLB? I would think the better rusher goes at WLB and better tackler and coverage guy at SLB. Recruits Teal and Mayberry are disappointments right now and will RS. Teal is a good tackler and might move to SS. Ross is a 4-year starter, improving from 45/72. Jennings is the obvious 2nd starter. Tuman and Betters are no better or worse, Betters being a bit... well, better. At FS, Sullivan is the man, gaining 2 potential. Warren will actually start at SS because he is a much better tackler and cover guy than any of our SS, but next year, we are down to ONE FS. Thanks, BBCF. At SS, Herock is the backup and Leyva the backup at FS. At K, the walkon is adequate, but we need a replacement for stud Foster. I'd love to RS Bennett, but the game won't let me.

Expectations Scouting Service We choose the best service specializing in the SE region, which is now a stretch. See below. Team Budget OK, now money is getting tight thanks to the coaching staff. We aren't going to cheat on academics because we turned them off, so I go with the suggested amount. However, we only budget 15,000 to recruit in the Great Plains and West, and only budget 20,000 for LBs in order to get enough cash to buy the best scouting service. Money is super-tight. Offensive Philosophy Our new coach wants to run a smash-mouth game, but we have the QB and WR to be more balanced and are lacking a good RB. In the end, I decide to go with the coach's specialty in hopes that the "bonus" will be enough to make us OK. Also, I am seriously considering moving QB(A) recruit Schroeder to RB. If I do that this will be an easy decision. Therefore, I go ahead and take the plunge, since he really isn't that great a QB prospect anyway and we have a few guys ahead of him. He's 6'1" 181. After I make the change, he instantly becomes our best RB with (63/73) ratings. Good move, coach! We go with the Inside Running game (aka Smash Mouth). Defensive Philosophy I like the 4-3, but our new coach specializes in the 5-2. Our personnel fits the 4-3 better considering our lack of DT talent/depth. We go with the 4-3 and cross our fingers. Schedule We currently have 10 games scheduled, 4 home and 6 away. Based on posts at the BBCF forum, I will try and get home games to increase the revenue stream. I'll try and schedule cupcakes with decent prestige. As I wrote before:
The process is very frustrating. I can't fill 2 home slots! IRL, teams like SC have teams begging to show up and get pounded in return for a paycheck. But here, NO TEAM has greater than "Average" interest in playing us in Columbia. That needs to be adjusted. We need a way to sort teams by their willingness to play us at home, along with a way to specify where the first game of a H-H series is played.
It's still a nightmare. First, I try and get NIU and UCF at home. UCF accepts, NIU declines. We then try UAB at home. No dice. WTF? For our last try, what do we do? NOBODY is higher than "average" in wanting to play us at home. Do I try and get a H-and-H with a mediocre team? I have no clue. In desperation, I look for the worst team with "Below Average" prestige and offer a HH. Who is it? Duke. They accept. Whew. Notice our recruit class was ranked 60th. Not acceptable in the SEC East. This is as good a place as any to stress the need for a certain report. MORALE. I'd love to know which players are angry, but I can't, unless I click on every single player. That's a huge omission. Also, I'd like to be alerted via e-mail when a player's morale changes. This is relevant because I'm setting redshirts, and I'd like to avoid a repeat of last season when I lost my best LB prospect. I need to make a few roster decisions. First, we have a glut of RB with Schoeder's switch. One decision is changing 3rd string RB Autry to a FB, which then lets me switch FB Couch to a TE. The switches turn out well. Autry is now a servicable FB and Couch becomes a ferocious run blocking TE and our starter. The ST depth chart remains a nightmare. I don't want many, if any, of my starters on ST. I'd love an option to set this automatically. Here is the opening game depth chart:

Week 1 We are actually an underdog to Duke. Not good. We hold them to a 3 and out and then march for a score. We recover a fumble on the KO and score again. Nice start. Of course, we lose TE Couch with a clavicle injury 3 plays in. We stuff them again and score. QB Harry already has an injured thumb and toe. FR RB Ron Schoeder is held in check until he gets a 65-yard TD run. This is a laugher. The starters stay in the whole way, though. I thought that was fixed.

Week 2 Couch is out with a broken collarbone. We sit him for this game. I also turn the injuries down to "Low" for now. We start slow, and UCF turns a fumble into a 14-7 lead in the 2nd. Ugh. Schoeder comes to the rescue with a 61-yard TD run. I think I made the right call switching him to RB. Later, the FG bug/bad AI strikes again, as we're up 23-14 in the early 3rd Q with a 4th and G from the UCF 2. We go for it, and get stuffed. You kick the ball in that situation. Period. I don't care that it puts you up 12. You have 1.5 quarters left and need to get certain points. Also, they need 2 TD to take the lead. STUPID. UCF makes us pay by scoring. 23-21 USC. Then they score again. 27-23 UCF. THAT's WHY YOU KICK THE FG. Then we miss a long FG and they flip the field with a long gain and punt. UCF leads 27-23 at the end of the 3rd. We have a INT TD called back for a penalty. UCF takes advantage by scoring a TD. 34-23, and that's the ballgame. We fumble the ensuing KO to add insult to injury. YOU KICK THE FG. YOU KICK THE FG. I'm taking over the playcalling inside the 10 from now on. I can't trust the AI to make the right decisions. This is a terrible loss and pretty much dooms our season.

Week 3 Open. Week 4 Now we get a real game, at #11 Ole Miss (-21). Everybody is healthy, at least. Too bad they suck. I check every player's card and everybody is at least content. We get some nice bounces... like we get a FG blocked, fumble on our 25, etc.... It's almost like watching the real Game****s play! Somehow, we lead at halftime thanks to a INT for a TD. 17-13. To begin the half, Schroeder goes for an 80 yard TD! Wait... he stepped out of bounds after 20 yds. No matter, we march downfield and Schroeder gets the first TD of his career! 24-16 USC. We get a turnover, but can't convert. Ole Miss scores in the 4th and converts the 2. Tie game. Great AI here:
Ole Miss ball, Q4, 1-10-MISS35 (14:20) 24-24 Donny Martinkovic kicks 67 from Ole Miss 35 to South Carolina -2. Peter Stanciel to South Carolina 33 for a 35 yard return. South Carolina ball, Q4, 1-10-SC33 (14:03) 24-24 Offense: Outside Run, Set: I Form, Play: I-HB-power-RE Defense: Stop Run, Set: 4-4, Play: 44-run-MZ-B5,6,7,8 RB R. Schroeder runs right end for 5 yards (CB B. Ford). Offsides against CB Charles Smith on Ole Miss. The Penalty is for 5 yards. The penalty will be declined. South Carolina ball, Q4, 2-5-SC38 (13:49) 24-24 Offense: Medium Pass, Set: I Form Big, Play: IB-SE-str-TE2-slant Defense: Stop Run, Set: Nickel, Play: Nickel-MZ-B11 QB J. Harry runs outside for 0 yards (SS K. McNeil).
Nice. Anyway, we take a late lead on a 40-yd FG with 5:24 left. Can we hold them? The real Game****s would choke like a bad engine on cheap gas. Miss marches down to our 22, we hold them, it's 4th down... and they GO FOR IT!!! And throw an INT! I look in the game log for the play, and it's nowhere to be found. We win the game, but it's a hollow win because they should have kicked the FG. We're 2-1, which is what we should be right now anyway.

Week 5 Alabama (-15) comes to town. We're injury-free, which is a refreshing change from earlier sims. Bama runs a fun & gun (Ha!), so let's see how this works out. We lose QB Brown for the game on the first series, and that's basically how it goes. Pathetic.

Week 6 We lose QB Harry to a torn ankle tendon, but he's probable for this week?!? WR Centers is Questionable for 3-5 weeks with a strained knee ligament. That's not a huge loss, as Stanciel can use the opportunity. Now we get Auburn (-20) at their place. Get this PbP:
Auburn ball, Q1, 4-4-SC7 (01:11) 7-3 Eugene Howard has his 25 yard field goal blocked by Walter Cook! The ball is recovered by Mike Thomas (SC) at the SC 12. He returns it to South Carolina 49 for 37 yards. South Carolina ball, Q1, 1-10-SC12 (00:51) 3-7 Offense: Inside Run, Set: I Form Big, Play: IB-HB-power-RT Defense: Normal, Set: 3-4, Play: 34-norm-Man-B6 RB R. Schroeder runs right guard for 1 yard (ILB A. Ford).
So, we take the blocked FG to the SC 49, but the next play is run from the USC 12. Nice. We lose QB Harry again in the first half, Schroeder fumbles inside the AUB 20, we have a FG blocked, and... we're only down 7-3. It doesn't last long. Oh yea, Stanciel got hurt and is Doubtful for 2-4 weeks. The injury? SKULL FRACTURE. At least Schroeder had a great game, minus the fumble.
