Next Opponent for Edgar Uncertain, Melendez staying in Strikeforce..."For Now"

Following the fourth Title Defense by Frankie Edgar, the obvious question is, who's next for "The Answer".

"Honestly, I don't know. Lightweight division is just so stacked man. We have a couple of guys who are on serious rolls. Jim Miller, [Anthony] Showtime Pettis, Nate Diaz. You know, a lot of guys. Sam Stout, Edson Barboza. Something actually happened to Frankie's eye, nothing major, but he's gonna take some time off and then we will decide, you know, what's next." said Dana White.

The fact that Jim Miller won against Melvin Guillard and Ben Henderson (who beat Miller in last year) lost his title shot, means that Miller might be next in line. But there's one person, EVERYONE, wants to go against Edgar, and he's yet to get a call into the UFC, but he's under the Zuffa Umbrella, Strikeforce Lightweight Champion, Gilbert Melendez. "I know everyone wants this fight. But Gilbert [Melendez] is staying in Strikeforce...for now. That's all I can say about this". Answered White.

Another interesting title for discussion was, following his Knockout of the Night victory over The Ultimate Fighter Winner, Ryan Bader, what's next for 'Rampage' Jackson. "After [Jon] Jones fight I said, I wanted Shogun [Rua] in Japan. I got half of that wish, but I still want the other half. I wanna avenge my loss." Answered the Former Light Heavyweight King. "Rampage vs. Shogun is definitely a huge fight. Rampage is coming off a Knockout of the Night, Shogun is coming off a Fight of the Year. This would be a massive fight, and it's definitely something, we're taking a close look at.

In other news, it was announced that Yoshihiro Akiyama has been Cut from the organisation, following a unsuccessful which saw him go 1-4 with a win over Alan Belcher at UFC 100, and then four straight losses to Chris Leben, Michael Bisping, Vitor Belfort and Jake Shields. During his time in the UFC, Akiyama earned Three Fight of the Night bonuses.

Also announced was that Hatsu Hioki, who following a Unanimous Decision victory over Bart Palaszewski, turned 2-0 in the UFC, will infact be the next challenger for UFC Featherweight Kingpin, Jose Aldo. Aldo vs. Hioki is a fight, the hardcore fans has been dying for, ever since 'Child of Shooto' used Aldo's teammate, Marlon Sandro, as a dummy to perhaps, the greatest performance in MMA. We can expect these two to cross swords...or rather gloves, around June.
