CZCW King of Trios

Recommended Posts

March 2011

CZCW is Pleased to announce the first ever King of Trios tournament.

King of Trios will feature 16 teams from around the world. preliminary matches will be held Sunday Week 4 of April, with the champion being determined at CZCW Welcome to the Coastal Zone Monday Week 1 of May. As teams are confirmed they will be announced.

------------------------------------------

This dynasty will be a little bit different in that rather than focusing on the day to day business and month to month events, it will focus on the buildup to one annual event- King of Trios. It has two purposes:

1. To enhance my own game play. Since I want to make this a big event for my game, by putting it out there as a diary I hope that it will help make it feel like a big event.

2. Hopefully some of you will enjoy following along and certainly once the brackets are posted predictions will be a part of this.

Enjoy.

Team MPWF

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/SpanishSuperfly47.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/MarioHeroic22.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/ngelDeMxico12.jpg

Spanish Superfly, Mario Heroic, Angel de Mexico

Spanish Superfly is the current Coastal Zone Xtreme Champion, a title he has held since August of 2010 after defeating Masked Cougar. He joined CZCW in April of 2010 originally teaming with countryman Amazing Fire Fly, before moving on to challenge for and eventually win the Xtreme title. Other titles held include- Campeon de Herencia de Mundo MPWF (4 times) and Campeones de Parejas MPWF. But it was his 6 month reign with the Campeones de Trios MPWF with Heroic and Angel that stands out and has to make them favorites to win the King of Trios.

Mario Heroic is familiar to CZCW fans as he once held the Coastal Zone Championship. He is a former Campeon de Menor SOTBPW and the current Campeon de Herencia de Mundo MPWF.

Angel de Mexico is making his CZCW debut. He has been a well decorated combatant in MPWF holding the Campeon de Lucha (2), Campeones de Parejas, and Campeones de Trios (2)

Team MAW

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/JayChord.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/HueyCannonball.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/JeffersonStardust.jpg

Jay Chord & The Awesomeness

MAW, along with MPWF, is a sister company to CZCW and opted to send one of their very best in Jay Chord. Chord is the son of MAW owner and wrestling legend, Rip Chord. The 2008 Graduate of the Mid-Atlantic Boot Camp has yet to hold any titles so winning the King of Trios would be a great first.

Huey Cannonball and Jefferson Stardust are former MAW tag team champions and will bring some flying skills to compliment Chord's all around talent.

Team Keith

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/MatthewKeith38.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/_BlankBackground.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/_BlankBackground.jpg

Matthew Keith, TBA, TBA

Matthew Keith has announced that he will be putting together a team with two to be announced partners.

Keith only recently returned to CZCW after SWF's fall to cult made him available. Working for the company from January-April of 2010 he breifly held the CZCW Tag Team titles with Ash Campbell, defeating Shoot Club for the belts. They then lost them to Rich and Famous just before he jumped to RIPW. He is also a former PSW National and RIPW Champion.

Rumors circulating as to who the partners could be include Ash Campbell who is currently under a written deal with CGC and brother Greg Gauge is under contract with SWF.

Amazing Fire Fly & The Colony

These three have been staples of the CZCW undercard for a while now. With no offers from any Mexican companies, Fire Fly joined CZCW and has been working for them since shortly after his debut. Fire Fly originally debuted teaming with Spanish Superfly, but has since moved on. Most recently he has formed an occasional team with Rafael Ruiz, with whom he has great chemistry. However the team is sporadic as Ruiz is often challenging for the Coastal Championship and Fire Fly often finds himself challenging for the Xtreme title. With Ruiz scheduled to fight the Coastal Zone Champion at Welcome to the Coastal Zone, Fire Fly has entered the King of Trios tournament along with fellow "bugs" "The Colony."

The Colony consists of Soldier Ant (Ant-Man) & Worker Ant (Paradigm). Signed along with Donte Dunn, Roger Monteiro, and the other Paratroopers they competed in a series of dark matches against each other to see who worked together the best. Out of the 6, Ant-Man & Paradigm showed the most skill working together and have great chemistry. Thus far they've mostly been in dark matches and opening matches but are hoping the King of Trios will give them a chance to shine. Word has it they are eager to add a 3rd member to The Colony, but at this point they haven't chosen one, so they will "settle" for teaming with Fire Fly.

Thanks for the feedback. This was definitely inspired by Chikara. I had wanted to use the Colony alts for a while and when I found Ant-Man and Paradigm with chemistry I liked the idea of making Paradigm an Ant more than making Ant-Man a paratrooper. So once I had the gimmick the wheels started turning and I decided to do this diary.

This is awesome Scorpion! I'm a huge fan of CZCW and I like the concept even though I didn't know it was borrowed from Chikara.

Anyways, I think it would be cool if you did Fox Mask, Masked Cougar & Snap Dragon as a team. That's just a suggestion though, I'm still going to follow it just to see what you do. I like the teams from other feds too, can't wait to see what other teams you put together!

Team American Machine

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/InsaneMachine46.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/AmericanElemental31.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/ThAmericanFlash43.jpg

Insane Machine, American Elemental, The American Flash

There is a lot of CZCW history in this team. Insane Machine is a triple crown champion having held the Coastal Zone Championship and Coastal Zone Xtreme, as well as the Coastal Zone Tag Team titles 3 times. He has also been active in Japan where he is the current Burning Junior champion and World Level Show Stealer champion. Among his 6 WLW titles is a World Level Tag reign with American Elemental. He has spent most of the last year in CZCW teaming with his protege The American Flash.

American Elemental is another formal Coastal Zone Champion. He returned to the company in October 2010 teaming with The American Flash while Insane Machine was on tour in Japan. He has made sporadic appearances since, due to his own Japan commitments. He has also held the World Level Show Stealer, Tag Team, and Tap out titles.

The American Flash is the protege of Insane Machine and has spent the last year teaming with both him and American Elemental. He has also challenged for the Coastal Zone Xtreme title, which he once held.

Two more CZCW based teams announced

Zoners

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/DonteDunn3.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/Frankie-BoyFernandes6.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/RogerMonteiro6.jpg

Donte Dunn, Frankie-Boy Fernandes & Roger Monteiro

Calling themselves the Zoners these three are currently working dark/opening matches in CZCW. Donte Dunn is a 2010 graduate of the DeColt Powerhouse, but was not signed by CGC, opting instead to bring his athleticism to the southwest. Frankie-Boy Fernandes is a 2010 graduate of the Coastal Resort and has worked for the company since his debut. Roger Monteiro was an independent wrestler brought in because of his athleticism and Flying ability. All three workers are still trying to find their niche in CZCW, but will team up to try and make a splash in the King of Trios tournament.

Kamikaze & The Paratroopers

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/KamikazeChristVars3.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/Paradox7.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/Paranoia7.jpg

Kamikaze Christian Vars, Paradox, Paranoia

Ever since the mysterious disappearance of Paradigm, The Paratroopers have been looking for a third partner. While not an official paratrooper, Kamikaze's suicidal act is a perfect fit for the group. Like the Zoners, these undercard workers will be looking to make a name for themselves.

Breaking....

Team Keith

Matthew Keith, Greg Gauge, TBA

Matthew Keith has announced the first of his two partners and it is none other than his brother, the returning Greg Gauge. Gauge had been under contract to SWF but it expired just in time for him to become available for the King of Trios. He previously worked for CZCW from March to August 2010.

8 Independent Teams Announced:

Team Southern Class

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/RexReeves7.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/BradyPrince21.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/BuckGraham12.jpg

Rex Reeves & The Maryland Alliance

The Maryland Alliance are two-time former SCCW Tag Team Champions. Brady Prince also held the SCCW Championship. They are joined by fellow SCCW alum, Rex Reeves.

Team Quest

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/ExtremeDeluxe9.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/FearlessBlue8.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/SuperSonic6.jpg

Extreme Deluxe, Fearless Blue, Super Sonic

The three alum of the backyard promotion XDW have set out on a quest to see who can be hired by a major promotion first. A good showing here could certainly lead to some job offers.

Team California

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/BrendanIdol18.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/HappyElwood14.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/MarkSmart5.jpg

Brendan Idol, Happy Elwood, Mark Smart

These three talents will be representing the non-CZCW California. Of course, Happy Elwood is actually from Iowa, but don't tell him that. Idol had a development deal with SWF and held the RIPW Tag Team titles. Smart and Elwood have both had connections to USPW. Elwood is a 2004 graduate of the now defunct USPW training camp.

Los Rudos

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/ElJefeMilitar0.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/ElLadrn0.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/DeCipher5.jpg

El Jefe Militar, El Ladron, DeCipher

In addition to Team MPWF, there will be two more teams representing Mexico. This is one. Strangely, as a light heavyweight, El Jefe may be the largest man competing in King of Trios, not to mention CZCW.

Team Europe

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/HughdeAske17.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/NigelSvensson0.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/SimonIce0.jpg

Hugh de Aske, Nigel Svensson, Simon Ice

Representing Europe will be a motley crew of diverse talents. Ice is a high flyer from the UK, Svensson a technician from Sweden, and de Aske brings his all-around game from Belgium. Ice previously worked a dark match for CZCW in a one shot deal.

House of Bloodstone

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/JaredJohnson12.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/RileyMcManus12.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/RoderickRemus25.jpg

Jared Johnson, Riley McManus, Roderick Remus

The biggest loudmouth heading into the King of Trios tournament has been Johnson. Originally boasting that he would bring the great Johnny Bloodstone, of whom he is a protege, to CZCW, he had to change his tune when Bloodstone was "unavailable." Instead he now claims Johnny gave him the right to assemble a team under his name. His choices- the high Flyer Roderick Remus and technician Riley McManus who recently left MAW

Los Tecnicos

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/Armada0.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/JoseFlamenco0.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/SurfeadorCalifornian0.jpg

Armada, Jose Flamenco, Surfeador Californiano

The final Mexican team, these guys look to be "the good guys." One strong rumor is that that CZCW management is looking at 1 or more members of this team to bring in permanently. whether that added stress will make of break them remains to be seen.

Team Canada

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/Antix0.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/RockinRyanTurner14.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/StanManna14.jpg

Antix & The Rock City Stars

One thing is for sure, these guys would rather sing or rap than wave around a flag, but they will be representing their country nonetheless. Antix is a two-time former NOTBPW Tag Team champion. He also was part of an Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup winning team, so he brings that experience with him. Turner and Manna have yet to win any gold.

Team Keith

Matthew Keith, Greg Gauge, Mr. Lucha III

In 1984, in CZCW sister company MPWF, Sam Keith defeated Mr. Lucha in one of the greatest matches of all time. At King of Trios his sons will team up with Mr. Lucha's nephew to go for the gold. One thing is for sure, Keith has managed to assemble one of the most talented teams in the tournament. ML3 is a former Campeon de Mexico OLLIE and GCG Openweight Champion.

Coming up... CZCW Icon Fox Mask will announce the final team for King of Trios- Team CZCW

Fox Mask & The Lords of Extreme

No group of 3 could better represent CZCW than these guys. Fox Mask is the icon of CZCW with an unmatched 6 Coastal Zone Championship reigns. Snap Dragon is a former Coastal Zone Champion, 2 time Tag Team champion and 3 time Xtreme champion. He also has held titles in MPWF. He currently holds the Tag Titles with Masked Cougar. Cougar is a farmer Xtreme champion and current tag champion.

2011 King of Trios Roundup

-For the first time booking something of this magnitude I thought it went well. The matches worked as expected with a B+ final better than expected.

-Booking this in April/May, however was a mistake as the 4 big Japanese companies are all running at the same time, making it harder to book talent. Next year CZCW will hold the event in June/July

-I love the idea of booking so many free agents to short term deals (in addition to talent trades) but ring rust was and will always be a problem.

-As more talent becomes available from other countries I hope it will become much more international. For sure I hope to have a team Australia and Team Japan in 2012.

Aftermath

-The rumors were true and Jose Flamenco was offered a full time contract. He found chemistry with Donte Dunn and they are now a team.

-Team American Machine was decimated when both American Elemental and Insane Machine decided they were too popular in Japan to work in the US anymore. Its possible something could be worked out, but don't expect them back in 2012.

-Team MPWF all finished up their dates and have left. Spanish Superfly is no longer with MPWF, so while the team will be there, the membership is unknown.

-Mr. Lucha III left shortly after the tournament as he was offered a touring country and resigned from CZCW

-While Greg Gauge's Japan dates have kept him a part-timer Matthew Keith got the biggest boost from the tournament. He started a feud with Fox Mask and quickly moved up the card challenging for the Coastal Zone Championship. In January he finally beat Randy Bumfhole for that title. He hand Randy had some great matches and their Christmas Cage Chaos classic is considered the best match in company history at this time. He will go into King of Trios 2012 as champion, but its unknown at this time if he will compete for the trophy or simply defend his belt. The way he looked at that trophy though you have to believe he wants another shot.

King of Trios 2012

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/CZCW_Trophy.jpg

To begin Saturday Week 4 in June, with the semi-finals and finals taking place at CZCW Wave of Fury in July. The event will include 16 teams from around the World including Mexico, the UK, Japan and Australia, as well as sister companies MPWF and MAW. And, at this time CZCW is pleased to announce that Fox Mask and The Lords of Xtreme will be back to defend their win in the inaugural King of Trios.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/FoxMask44.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/SnapDragon53.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/CZCW/MaskedCougar51.jpg

Fox Mask & The Lords of Xtreme

In the last year Fox Mask has been feuding on and off with Coastal Zone Champion Matthew Keith with the bad blood beginning at last years event. So far he hasn't managed to wrest the title from him. Lords of Xtreme were Coastal Zone Tag Team Champions for most of the past year, but have since dropped the titles to The Samoan Wildboyz. There is no doubt that CZCW's favorite sons will be the favorites to win it all again.

Mario Heroic, Angel de Mexico, Cique Jr.

Heroic & Angel return as members of Team MPWF. Heroic is still Campeon de Herencia de Mundo MPWF, a title he has held since March 2011. It was his relationship with Cique Jr that brought him to the team. They have been teaming in MPWF as "High and Mighty." Cique is a model of consistency in MPWf and a former Campeon de Lucha, Campeon de Parejas, and 2 time Campeon de Trios. Much like last year's team, they will be a favorite to win it all.
