TCW: Money Is Everything

Recommended Posts

The Background

Most people who are coming into this diary know me. You absolutely know what I'm all about. But for those of you who might be coming into an angeldelayette diary for the first time or second time or third time I welcome you to the fun.

The fact of the matter is that, yes, I am running two diaries now. I am running this one and a real world one. For more information on the real world diary go here. But if you've come here, then you're looking for some TCW goodness, rather than any talk about the real world. I must only add here that the reason for starting this diary is simple. I wanted to begin a diary where I can have a focused backstage presence. I don't seem to be able to do that in the real world so I come to the cornellverse for that.

That being said, this is going to have a lengthy backstory. That is simply the plan for this diary in particular. A lot of the focus, unlike my real world diary, will be on the backstage interactions of my character, Timothy Hawk, with members of the TCW roster, Tommy Cornell in particular, among others.

TCW is not a sports entertainment federation. It's not the Supreme Galaxy, as someone once said. But there will be a fair amount of angles within the promotion. I have taken the liberty of moving the match ratio to 80% for events and 70% for tv shows. I have also made movements to bring the promotion rated equally on performance and popularity.

But enough of that ooc stuff. Soon, we will be moving into the backstory and just how Timothy Hawk comes to be Head Booker for one of the most influential promotions in the world.

I came from a family of wealth, a family where I saw butlers and maids almost as much as I saw my parents growing up. A family where I had two parents and four grandparents who loved me very much and sought to give me everything that I could ever ask for. I was an only child so some would talk about me having that silver spoon in my mouth but really the spoon was gold. I have succeeded in sports, in relationships, in life in general. Which is why living on the independent scene has been so difficult. I have been wrestling in front of crowds of 200 or less for several years now following the training I received at my home. When I told my father I wanted to be a professional wrestler I was sure that he was going to kick me out and force me to go at it alone. But he was supportive of me. He told me 'son, if you're going to do that then you're going to be the best at it.' Thus my training was strong, working alongside such legends as Rip Chord, Sam Strong and Tommy Cornell, among others. I worked my way into becoming an all around wrestler with skills and talent to spare.</span></em><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><span style="color:#FFD700;">]</span></span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><span style="color:#FFD700;">[</span></span></em><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">And now that I have heard about the financial backers dropping out from Total Championship Wrestling forcing one of my trainers to go it alone? </span></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><strong>Tommy Cornell</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

"Fair enough."</span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><strong>Timothy Hawk</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

"What I am prepared to offer you is a significant investment within Total Championship Wrestling. But I have certain issues that we need to cover. One of the first issues is that I need to have creative control and be the lead booker for the company. This is written into the contract that I will need you to sign. It will be effective the first day of the new year. This creative control includes but is not limited to hiring and firings, booking the arenas and setting the card lineups."</span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

</span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em><span style="color:#FFD700;">[</span></em></span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em>I watched as Tommy took the contract in his hands and began looking it over. The old executive trick.</em></span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em><span style="color:#FFD700;">]</span></em></span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><strong>Tommy Cornell</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

"I have already spoken with Joel about the situation and he understands the financial side of the company. As for the other arrangements, I will have my lawyer have a look at this revised contract and if it meets with our approval I will have it signed and faxed to you."</span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

</span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em><span style="color:#FFD700;">[</span></em></span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em>I nodded and rose first, standing and waiting until Tommy did the same. He held the contract in one hand while shaking my hand with the other.</em></span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em><span style="color:#FFD700;">]</span></em></span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><strong>Timothy Hawk</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

"Now that we have this business side over and done with, let's go grab a drink and toast our new relationship."</span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

</span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em><span style="color:#FFD700;">[</span></em></span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em>Tommy definitely seemed hesitant but I knew I had him on the run. His other investors had dropped out and with just Tommy doing the finances? The company would go broke within a year. But if he is hesitant to sign, I do have another ace up my sleeve.</em></span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em><span style="color:#FFD700;">]</span></em></span></p>

<span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em><span style="color:#FFD700;">[</span></em></span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em>The first time that I met with all of the TCW wrestlers at one time was on the night before I was to take over. It was the night of the TCW pay-per-view Psycho Circus. Of course that would be the very last pay-per-view run by the duo of Tommy Cornell and Joel Bryant. Tommy made a brief introduction to the boys and girls in the locker room and then I stepped inside and took a look around. There were some guys that I could idolize in this company: Edd Stone, Wolf Hawkins, Bryan Vessey, Ricky Dale Johnson and of course the TCW World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Golden. I met the eyes of each and every person that I could and stood there in silence. Some would call it an awkward silence but I was sizing up each person. Those who come out here and give me their best will be rewarded with things such as bonuses, title shots, main storylines, TV time and more. Those who I do not feel are giving their all? Well, I will show you the door because you're not needed in this company. And that goes for the men and women at the bottom and the men and women at the top. I came to TCW to take over the wrestling business. I came here to overcome Richard Eisen and his Supreme Band Of Wrestlers."</span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

"My motto is simple. If you fail, you have only yourself to blame. Forget the politics of the past. Forget what you've ever known about a wrestling company. This is a brand new day. I don't care who you get along with and who you don't get along with. The bottom line is that we have to be the best wrestling program on television. This also means that I don't want to hear about you taking drugs, taking steroids, drinking heavily right before the show. If it comes to the light, if it comes to my eyes then you are going to be removed. You are going to face the consequences of your actions. Thank you and I look forward to working with each and every one of you."</span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;">

There was only a brief pause in another room where I spoke with Jennifer Cornell and slipped her a key. With that, it was toward the limousine and to the hotel room I rented to sit down and watch the wrestlers in action. Why not stay in the building? I am making a point that when tomorrow comes it is a brand new day and I am in control.</em></span><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"><em><span style="color:#FFD700;">]</span></em></span></p>

TCW PRESENTS TOTAL WRESTLING!

Tuesday Week 1 January 2010

Location: The V. Thompson Arena (South West)

Attendance: 10,000

Overall Rating: B-

TV Rating: 5.07

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/RockyGolden_alt31.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/SamKeithalt-11.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/EddiePeak_jhd1.jpg

[A video begins the show recapping and highlighting the events of TCW Psycho Circus last Sunday evening. The main focus of these highlights is the main event triple threat match between Rocky Golden, Sam Keith and Eddie Peak for the TCW World Heavyweight title currently held by Rocky Golden. The match ended with Golden pinning Peak. But after the match, Keith locked Golden in the Proton Lock while Peak stomped away on the TCW World Heavyweight Champion. This segues into the opening for TCW Presents Total Wrestling.]

[As the opening finishes, we are taken to a backstage room that is fitted out like an office. Seated behind a desk are the two remaining members of what is known as The Syndicate. Tommy Cornell and Wolf Hawkins have smug expressions on their faces. Cornell drums his fingers along the wood surface of the desk before he begins speaking.]

Tommy Cornell

"In less than two hours now, we are going to see the ending of an era. What you fans want to have happen? It's not going to happen. I know what you want. I know what you want even better than you do. What you want is for the Syndicate to stick around. We are two of the best..."

Wolf Hawkins

"The two best wrestlers on the planet."

Tommy Cornell

"That's right, Wolf. We are the most elite group in the history of professional wrestling. We are the Syndicate. After tonight, we are still going to be the Syndicate and by next week I can promise you that we will be one member stronger. I can make that promise because I am Tommy Cornell. I am straight edge. I am better than you."

[Cornell and Hawkins throw up the sign for The Syndicate and then we head to the ring for our opening bout.]

Match #1

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/TCW_World.jpg

TCW World Title Match

Rocky Golden defends vs. Rick Law

[Our opening contest is a match that could be the main event as Rocky Golden defends the TCW World Heavyweight title against the man of the Law, Rick Law. The match is the typical type of brawling that one would expect from these two wrestlers. The match sees several near falls scored by both athletes. Law catches Golden with the Justice Jam -- an uppercut intended to daze. He catches Golden with a gutbuster and draws in a two count. Law rises to his feet and gazes at Golden, waiting for him to get up -- Long Arm Of The Law -- ducked! Golden ducked the lariat and kicks Law in the gut. Golden brings Law down with a pumphandle slam! Golden makes the sign and then lifts Law to his feet -- Rack! Golden holds Law in the human torture rack! Law struggles, fighting the hold. But he has to give up. A big victory here for Rocky Golden!]

Winner: Rocky Golden (Via Pinfall @ 17:53; Rocky Golden retains the TCW World title)

Match Rating: B

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/SamKeithalt-11.jpg

[Rocky Golden releases Rick Law from the Rack just in time to get blindsided from behind by Sam Keith! Golden pulls up to his feet and gets caught with a Mafia Kick by Keith! Keith yanks Golden back up -- Neutron Plex! The head and arm suplex invented by Keith draws boos from the crowd. Keith moves in swiftly -- Proton Lock! He has the Proton Lock hooked on the TCW World Heavyweight Champion! Golden cries out as security and officials come out to break things up. Sam Keith releases and stands, lifting his arms in the air, soaking in the boos from this crowd.]

Match #2

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/EddStone_Self6.jpg w/ http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/CharlieThatcher1.jpg vs. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/ChanceFortuneALT1.jpg

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/TCW_AllAction.jpg

TCW All Action Title Match

Edd Stone defends vs. Chance Fortune

[Our second match of the evening is also a title match as the exciting members of the All Action division go at it one on one. Though not completely one on one as Stone has the added advantage of having Charlie Thatcher at ringside. Stone shows off some of his high impact and quick moves, such as the swinging rope blast, rolling wheel kick and a sunset flip powerbomb! Fortune barely has any offense during the match. The TCW All Action champion ends the bout with the seated face plant known as the Party's Over. Stone makes the cover: 1 -- 2 -- 3!]

Winner: Edd Stone (Via Pinfall @ 7:47; Edd Stone retains the TCW All Action title)

Match Rating: C-

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/TCW.jpg

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/RickyDaleJohnson.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/JoeyMinnesota_alt1-11.jpg

[We head back to the backstage area once again. This time we are in a locker room where the two men collectively known as Freedom Fighters are standing side by side in front of a row of lockers. The two men look up and into the camera, eyes focused.]

Ricky Dale Johnson

"You know, Joey, I've heard it all coming from that piehole of Tommy Cornell. He guarantees that his Syndicate is gonna survive tonight. Well, ain't that great? Ain't that wonderful? Ain't that sweet? You know what I guarantee, Tommy Cornell? You want to know what I can guarantee? I guarantee that Joey and I are gonna give you an old-fashioned Texas butt-whipping the likes of which you and that Wolf Hound of yours are not likely to survive and you will never forget."

Joey Minnesota

"Tommy, Wolf, you know I've had a problem with authority my entire life. All the backstage politics and people running their mouth and holding me down? Well, tonight I bust through all the politics. Tonight, we put the Syndicate to bed. Tonight, RDJ and myself are gonna show you exactly why we're so cold."

[The camera zooms in on their eyes, showing a focused look on their faces. Tonight is the night. The Syndicate ends or the Freedom Fighters end. Which one will it be?]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/TCW.jpg

Match #3

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/JoshuaTaylor.jpg vs. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/GhenghisRahn.jpg

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/TCW_International.jpg

TCW International Title Match

Joshua Taylor defends vs. Genghis Rahn

[Another title match this evening but this one can definitely be considered the worst match of the night. Not even Joshua Taylor was able to carry Genghis Rahn to a decent match. The matchup was a true conflict of styles from the beginning and never really got going decently. Rahn did not get much offense in during the match but did manage an Arizona Gut Buster on Taylor, lifting him up in a suplex and then dumping him on his stomach on the ropes. But in the end it was the TCW International Champion showing his mettle in his comeback. Taylor manages to lock the Butterfly Lock on Genghis Rahn and the larger man struggled but eventually had to tap out to the hold.]

Winner: Joshua Taylor (Via Submission @ 9:37; Joshua Taylor retains the TCW International title)

Match Rating: D

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/KoshiroIno.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/RickLaw_JS.jpg

[We head backstage once again here on Total Wrestling. Ths time, we see Koshiro Ino walking down a hallway. He gets a decent crowd ovation as it looks like he might be heading out toward the ring. He nearly gets to the entrance ramp when a shadow comes out from the side, cracking Ino in the head with a foreign object of some sort. The shadow is revealed to be Rick Law and the object is his trusty nightstick. Law begins smashing Ino in the head with the nightstick as Ino tries to cover up to protect himself. Law slides the nightstick around the throat of Ino, choking the man known as The Kobra out with the weapon. Security comes to step in and Law hides himself amongst them, escaping as the focus turns to Ino, who is coughing and choking.]

Match #4

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/TroyTornado_alt11.jpg vs. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/TCW/DannyFonzarelliALT1.jpg

Troy Tornado vs. Danny Fonzarelli

[Our semi main event contest featuring the dastardly all-around wrestler Troy Tornado against the brawling ladies man 'Dr. Love' Danny Fonzarelli. Fonzarelli manages to get into the head of Tornado early on during the contest, frustrating his opponent into several mistakes, which Fonzarelli takes advantage of. Several near falls draw Tornado right back into the contest as Fonzarelli goes for a big boot but Tornado ducks and catches Fonzarelli with a thrust kick. Tornado catches Fonzarelli with a rolling snap mare and then heads to the top turnbuckles. He leaps -- flying splash! Tornado declines the cover in favor of waiting for Fonzarelli to get to his feet. Fonzarelli rises and then turns toward Tornado -- Star Maker! The high velocity Flying Forearm brings Dr. Love to the mat and Tornado makes the cover: 1 -- 2 -- 3!]

Winner: Troy Tornado (Via Pinfall @ 16:41)

Match Rating: B

Losers Must Split

The Syndicate vs. Freedom Fighters

[it's main event time and what a tag team contest we have here! These two teams are not only fighting for the victory but fighting to remain as a team, as a unit. Loud chants come for both Ricky Dale Johnson and Joey Minnesota, though they seem definitely louder when RDJ is in there. The beginning of the match is definitely back and forth as each team feels each other out with neither side willing to make a mistake that might cost their team the victory. The first big mistake comes when RDJ goes for a lariat but Hawkins manages to duck and send RDJ sprawling into the corner and up and over the turnbuckles into the ring post! RDJ is split open from the blow!]

[Now we have vintage Syndicate. They keep RDJ in their corner and double-team him seemingly at will. Tommy Cornell and Wolf Hawkins make quick tags in and out to keep a fresh man in, while RDJ reaches for the tag but the Syndicate are quickly there to cut him off at every turn. Hawkins and Cornell even draw Minnesota into the ring at times with taunts, leading to more double teams by The Syndicate members. RDJ begins bleeding like a stuck pig throughout the bout from the wound on his forehead. Minnesota tries to rally the crowd behind Ricky Dale. Hawkins catches RDJ with a leaping DDT. He makes a cover: 1 -- 2 -- Minnesota breaks the pinfall attempt! That might have been a three if not for Minnesota coming in. Hawkins plays to the crowd for a moment and then bounces off the ropes -- legdro -- misses! RDJ moves out of the way! The Heavyweight Texan begins crawling toward his corner. Minnesota rallies the crowd as Hawkins goes over and tags in Cornell. RDJ leaps -- here's the tag!]

[Joey Minnesota enters the ring and is a house on fire! He takes down Cornell with a punch! He elevates Hawkins with a back body drop! Minnesota rallies the crowd, waving his arms and getting the audience involved. RDJ enters the ring, stumbling about because of bloodloss but getting in the way of Wolf Hawkins. Minnesota picks up Tommy Cornell. He's got Cornell set up for the Empire Spiral. This could be it, ladies and gentlemen! Minnesota -- drops Cornell? RDJ looks confused. Minnesota points to Cornell -- does he want RDJ to finish off Tommy Cornell? Minnesota makes the motion for Southern Justice! Cornell is on his knees, pleading. Outside the ring, Wolf Hawkins has a chair! Minnesota slides out and wrestles the chair away from Hawkins! A very bloody Ricky Dale Johnson looks toward Cornell. Minnesota slides in the ring behind RDJ. RDJ grabs Cornell around the throat -- CRACK! RDJ goes down from a chair shot from behind! The referee, having seen the attack, throws the match out.]

Winners: Draw (Via Referee Stoppage @ 21:16)

Match Rating: B

[Joey Minnesota stands over top of the fallen Ricky Dale Johnson after absolutely leveling him with a chair shot. Tommy Cornell slowly raises to his feet and dusts himself off. Wolf Hawkins enters the ring. A slow smile appears on Cornell's lips as he offers his hand out to Minnesota -- Minnesota drops the chair and accepts! The crowd here in the V. Thompson Arena is dangerously loud with their boos. Minnesota bends over and rubs some of the blood from the forehead of Ricky Dale Johnson and then rubs the blood on the chair. A maniacal look crosses Minnesota's features as he picks the chair back up and holds it. Joey Minnesota, Wolf Hawkins and Tommy Cornell all stand in the center of the ring and flash the sign of the Syndicate as the show comes to a close. Guess Tommy was right after all.]

[The very first show in the Timothy Hawk era of Total Championship Wrestling seemed to go off without a hitch. That is despite the fact that Sam Keith brought enough alcohol to float a battleship. It could have gone poorly but the crowd seemed into things and that is what I am always focused on. Make the crowd happy and you will make more money. And money is everything..]

[Speaking of money, TCW is taking on a whole new turn here within the next few weeks. That brand new turn? I have decided to bring Womens wrestling to TCW and create a whole new division for the female athlete. Why? One reason: Jennifer Cornell. She wanted it and I have enjoyed what she has done to get the division here. Though Tommy has no idea. But that's just the way I like it.]
