That's why, I believe, my SWF project was more followed than projects like DOA/WAR (I still had great followings, just not to the same widespread level).

That said, would you still read a project centered around a company that is not in your default game?

My time is super limited but I believe I could write for a company if... 1) They were small enough to have less frequent shows, 2) A smaller roster, and 3) wouldn't need updating every (or even every other) week. It'd be in more of a recap scenario (promos are not written out); so, not to my typical depth.

It'd be a regional company that's focused around elevating the best of the Indy world; creating the Faith's, Strong's, Keith's, etc. of tomorrow. So, essentially giving depth to people like Remmy Skye, The Cali Dragons, Mainstream Hernandez, etc.

While there would be a few people who've been seen on TV in one of the big 3, the majority of the roster would be 'new' to the mainstream wrestling fan (making them "home grown").

So, it's more of a "concept project" versus just booking a known company/wrestlers.

Would this be of interest (even with the more recap results) to you?

What's funny is I'm leaning the other way for my next project. I've tackled two regional hardcore companies (DaVE in 2001, Nemesis' IPW) and a short-lived regional lucha company (MPWF). Now, I want to go big. Maybe even branch out to the real world, although I'm finding it hard in finding a mod that lives up to my standards and do something different than other diary writers.

I'll read anything you write, though, so take a shot at something you want to do and have time for, ya know.

I think I've found a project that I'm extremely interested in (that will work with my extremely limited schedule).

It's a high-small/low-regional company based in Los Angeles (LAX Wrestling -- Los Angeles Xtreme Wrestling). It'll be a cult promotion with heavy modern, medium Lucha/Daredevil/Mainstream/Risqué.

It'd be more of a throwback approach for me (user character based like Evolution of Greed).

Colorful characters, grunge feel, Lucha-inspired...

The roster doesn't use current CZCW wrestlers or major Indy darlings (Hernandez and Insane Machine being the real 'stars').

Would this be more of interest to readers out there (versus the internet darling approach).

There's a lot of different ways to use the guys without focusing on those characters only.

KC Glenn - Rockstar Glenn. Since his mic skills suck give him Roxy Kitten and have him think of himself as too good to waste his voice on the losers. Or as face have him be interrupted every time he's about to get on the mic from either his opponents or technical difficulties.

Mainstream Hernandez - Emo heel who's goal is to make every member of the roster miserable with bad poetry and by cutting of Glenn's mesh shirts.

Frankie Perez and Greg Gauge - P-Dawg and 20-Gauge rapper duo with sick lines and unbelievable flow.

Casey Valentine - There's the douche bag alt Iceisle made for your SWF diary.

Ernest Youngman - Bret Hart? there's an alt of that. Or just have Emostream make fun of his name.

Goofy and hammy is always the way to go in a small promotion. These guys want to stand out and you can't honestly be a serious wrestler Best-In-The-World character when you are working for $1000 a show.

After much thinking, I believe I have the make-up of LAX Wrestling. With that said, I won't overtake this thread much longer (Just wanted to talk through some things and see what others thought before I go into true development). The company will be owned/created by Carl Batch. While an East Coast guy to start with (DaVE), he's spent a few years in the lucha world down in FCW. Plus, his pre-set business sense has him preferring a "MTV-Styled Modern" style (which, in a way, will work great with LAX).

The final product will be:

KEY: Cult

HEAVY: Traditional & Modern

MEDIUM: Risque, Lucha Libre, Daredevil, and Mainstream

I know that "Traditional" (by the name) seems funny to have it so high; however, it's to create good storytelling. Plus, Mainstream at "medium" still gives you an ability to have some not SO grungy characters (as I want to have a good, well-rounded, feel that way).

The show will be full of colorful characters indicative of Los Angeles. I really want it to feel like the city itself; full of a LOT of different people (egotistical people, off-beat, fame-driven, fame-hungry, underground rebels). In a way, it'll be a slightly more 'extreme-like' Underground (from my SWF dynasty).

I'm not sure what MY user character will be but I'm guessing he'll be a created person (as I don't really like what I have out there). This figure will become a protege of Carl Batch & brought in as a 'pet project' (more or less) as his headbooker.

I'm pretty excited about this one now. All I need to go ahead now is a logo, some belts, and then start writing!

I appreciate it. :) Yeah, I'm thinking I'll give TNA another shot. :)

It would be current day. :D

Honestly if I were you, I'd do maybe a different year because there are Modern TNA and WWE ones and there is already a modern fantasy promotion.

Maybe do WWF 1998, TNA 2002, ECW 2000, ROH 2004. Or maybe sim a few years in to the future and give a back story of the happenings and be a company then.

Total Extreme Wrestling Special Report – A Retrospective & Perspective on USPW

For more than a decade, USPW has been the forefront leader in family-friendly sports entertainment in North America. Since it's debut in 2001 under veteran Danny Jillfeski, the company has gone from strength to strength, particularly after it's buy-out by wrestling legend Sam Strong, whose sheer name value took the company to heights never before seen, including television, pay-per-view and a national presence. Having spent the last several years to the side of what has long been called "The Tuesday Night Wars" between the Supreme Wrestling Federation and Total Championship Wrestling, the company's presence and direction took a turn last year in 2012 when Sam Strong and Sports America brought the company directly into the firing lines when they moved their flagship show American Wrestling onto Tuesday Nights. Since then, USPW has more than held their own against their competitors, in no small part due to the expert storytelling direction by Shane Sneer, often classed with Jillfeski and Strong as USPW's Founding Fathers due to their communal efforts in directing and shepherding USPW to it's current good fortunes.

But with recent rumors that Strong intends to step down from active day-to-day management and supervision in favor of Sneer, one wonders just how well the company will fair. It is undisputed by nearly all that the trinity produced some of the country's finest wrestling stories in collusion, particularly the long-running "House Divided" storyline from 2010 to 2011 that elevated Nicky Champion to the main event and positioned him on a tier of popularity matched by few. USPW is also known for it's fractious backstage environment, divided heavily on ideological lines between Sam Strong's pet projects and loyalists, holdovers from the Jillfeski era, the fragile woman's division directed by stars Alicia Strong & Belle Bryden and a growing young-blood under-card. While Sneer has historically played peacemaker with great success, one doubts his continued ability to do so when placed in such a position of responsibility and of great expectations.

Ultimately much remains to be seen, particularly if Strong even chooses to step down. But we here at TEW would urge fans to keep an eye on USPW more closely in upcoming months as it enters this crucial period...

USPW: Manifest Destiny

I'm hoping my diary will be starting in two weeks. We'll see though. It could come a little sooner or later depending on how work goes. We are publishing the biggest single study of the year this month.

That is perfect timing because I'll still get to go on a summer vacation then be back in time for classes!
