UFC: It's Time!

Recommended Posts

If that card happened in real life...it would be the card of the year. Even knowing it was just a game, it was awesome to watch it play out.

I don't agree with the Bedford fight, I felt he won at least one or two of the rounds.

Overall, great card.

Jack Marshman def. Uriah Hall via. UD

Brandon Halsey def. Alexander Volkov via. TKO (2:15, Rd 1)

---------------------------------

Michael Johnson vs. Dennis Hallman

-Dull. 10-9 Hallman.

-Hallman tried to get this to the ground every chance he got. In the process, Johnson was able to land some good shots that scored points and prevented Hallman from doing much. 10-9 Johnson.

-Michael Johnson let the hands fly this round. He connected early and often, rocking Hallman. Dennis did score a late takedown, but that isn't enough. 10-9 Johnson.

Michael Johnson def. Dennis Hallman via. UD

John Maguire vs. Aaron Simpson

-Absolute domination from A-Train. A quick takedown eventually led to mount, and a brutal TKO finish. Yikes.

Aaron Simpson def. John Maguire via. TKO (2:43, Rd 1)

TUF: Middleweight Final

Evan Cutts vs. Svetoslav Savov

-Nothing special here. Just some stand-up and failed takedown attempts. 10-9 Cutts.

-Another dull round. 10-9 Savov.

-The fans are booing. 10-9 Savov.

Svetoslav Savov def. Evan Cutts via. UD to win The Ultimate Fighter MW Division!

TUF: Heavyweight Final

Robert Drysdale vs. Tyler East

-A tight round. Drysdale was landing some decent shots on the feet, but took a pounding after a failed takedown. He survived the storm and landed a takedown later on, but the brutal barrage gives East the nod. 10-9 East.

-Out of nowhere, Drysdale attempts a flying heel hook! It didn't work, but still pretty damn cool! This was a carbon copy of round 1, where East blasts Drysdale but he made it through. Drysdale finished the round in back mount, with hooks in. East lucked out. 10-9 Drysdale.

-Both men were spent at this point! Fast forward, Drysdale mounted East, then floated over and took his back. He was unable to finish the fight, as the buzzer sounds. The two men give one another a hug after a pretty good fight. 10-9 Drysdale.

Robert Drysdale def. Tyler East via. UD to win The Ultimate Fighter HW Divsion!

Main Event:

Daniel Cormier vs. Gabriel Gonzaga

-Napo landed some good shots, nullifying the game of Cormier. The only thing Cormier could do was wall & stall. 10-9 Cormier.

-Cormier comes out, throws a weak jab...and WOAHHHH! A VICIOUS HEAD KICK KO! YIKES!

Gabriel Gonzaga def. Daniel Cormier via. Head Kick (0:21, Rd 2)

**After the fight Gonzaga tells us that he is the real deal and ready for the top tier. He reminds us he earned a title shot after a surprise KO of Cro Cop, and that his is no different. He pleads to Dana for a title shot.**

UFC 156: Edgar vs. Koch!

Main Event: UFC Featherweight Title

Frankie Edgar © vs. Erik Koch

-As expected, Koch will be the first title defense for the newly minted champ. Koch has been on a roll, and earned his title shot after a beat down of Chang Sung Jung at UFC 152. Edgar on the other hand made the MMA world take notice when he ran over Jose Aldo in just over 2-minutes in Brazil. Will Edgar reign supreme, or can Koch claim gold?

Thiago Silva vs. Rampage Jackson

-Get your popcorn ready! When two explosive strikers like these two meet in the cage, only one thing can happen: a brutal knockout punch! Silva is looking to right the ship and get back on the track, but the former UFC chap will have something to say about that.

Renan Barao vs. Raphael Assuncao

-Two title contenders, Barao and Assuncao will look to bring their a-game against one another. Both men understand the turmoil that the Bantamweight division is currently in, and want to leave their mark. Who will be the next threat McDonald and Cruz?

Jim Miller vs. Sean Sherk

-Coming off a rough loss against Nate Diaz, the New Jersey native is looking to make a statement with a win against the experienced veteran. Sherk hasn't fought in close to three years, and his return to the cage will be a tough one with the vicious Miller awaiting him.

Undercard:

Christian Morecraft vs. Ralek Gracie

Karlos Vemola vs. Michael Kuiper

Andy Ogle vs. George Sotiropoulos

UFC 155: Henderson vs. Cerrone III!!

Undercard Results:

Tom DeBlass def. Nick Penner via. TKO (1:40, Rd 1)

Rafael Natal def. Buddy Roberts via. TKO (4:50, Rd 1)

Mike Campbell def. Frabrico Camoes via. KO (2:59, Rd 3)

-------------------------------------------------

Dan Miller vs. Erick Silva

-A back-and-forth round. Silva landed some brutal leg kicks, and Miller was showing the effects of them big time. He did score a takedown on Silva, and did a good job of landing strikes, but wasn't enough to win the round. 10-9 Silva.

-Very similar to round 1. Silva targeted the legs of Miller again, leaving him limping back to his corner. Dan did a good job exchanging shots, but he can only do so much on one leg. 10-9 Silva.

-Silva dropped Miller with a big shot. He obtained mount and went for an armbar, but Dan was able to get out of it and get into side control. That is where the fight ends. 10-9 Miller.

Erick Silva def. Dan Miller via UD

Mike Easton vs. Yves Jabouin

-A stand-up round to no one's surprise. Yves hit a spectacular flying knee, but to his credit, Easton battled through it. Both men landed their fare of share of strikes, but Yves pushed the pace and landed the more impact full strikes. 10-9 Jabouin.

-Another fun round. The highlight came early on when Yves hit a beautiful push kick that floored Easton. Nothing came from it, and the two returned to their feet, swinging. Easton went for multiple takedowns, but none worked. 10-9 Jabouin.

-Yves used his counter striking in this round. Almost every time Easton threw something, Jabouin had an answer for it and countered with an impressive shot. 10-9 Jabouin.

Yves Jabouin def. Mike Easton via. UD

Alistair Overeem vs. Ben Rothwell

-The Reem was over-ambitious in this round. He went for some pretty big shots that didn't pay off, allowing Rothwell to counter. 10-9 Rothwell.

-Ben dictated the pace once again. However, The Reem did a good job of picking up the pace towards the end of the round. There is little to separate the two. 10-9 Overeem.

-Dull round. 10-9 Overeem.

Alistair Overeem def. Ben Rothwell via. UD

**After the scores are announced, the crowd is booing and chanting "You didn't win! You didn't win!" Even Dana looks surprised after the scoring.**

Little Nog vs. Rashad Evans

-WOW! Right off the bat, Sugar Rashad scores a takedown and jumps right into side control. From there, he proceeded to drop bomb-after-bomb on Nog, ending this one quickly. Welcome back, Rashad!

Rashad Evans def. Rogerio Nogueira via TKO (2:31, Rd 1)

Main Event: UFC Lightweight Title

Benson Henderson © vs. Donald Cerrone

*We get a nice video recaping their history with one another. Their staredown is epic, sending chills through my spine!*

-A close round. Cowboy landed some good shots, out striking the champ. Benson scored two takedowns, but one was nullified when Cerrone bounced right back up. A very close round. 10-9 Cerrone.

-A clone of round 1. The only difference was Donald was very active off of his back. Again, a tight round. 10-9 Henderson.

-Nothing in this round. 10-9 Henderson.

-Benson pushed the pace and scored some takedowns. He didn't do much, but he did score some points. Cerrone was very active off his back, continuing to search for the submission finish. 10-9 Henderson.

-Another round focused on the ground. Benson scored a takedown but eventually got swept and Cerrone dictated the round. 10-9 Henderson (don't agree with this scoring.)

Benson Henderson def. Donald Cerrone via. UD to Retain The UFC Lightweight Title!

*Afterwards, the two shake hands. When asked who he wants next, Benson smiles and says, "I want BJ Penn!"*

UFC 157: St. Pierre vs. Kampmann Announced!

Main Event: UFC Welterweight Title

Georges St. Pierre © vs. Martin Kampmann

-He's back, UFC! The welterweight king, GSP, returns to action at UFC 157 when he faces the scoring hot Martin Kampmann. Kampmann is on a five-fight win streak, beating the likes of Thiago Alves, Rick Story, Jake Ellenberger, Mike Pierce and Carlos Condit! However, he still hasn't impressed GSP, who asked Martin to bring his a-game. Get ready, this will be good!

Luke Rockhold vs. Mark Munoz

-The world has been buzzing about the UFC debut of Luke Rockhold. The American Kickboxing Academy member gets a tough task in Munoz, who is looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Chris Weidman. Will Rockhold live up to the hype, or will Munoz spoil the party?

Jacob Volkmann vs. Thiago Tavares

-This fight will alter the 155 standings without a doubt. Tavares is on a two-fight win streak, while Volkmann is on a tear through the 155 pound weight class. The winner will likely take the next step towards the gold.

Rory MacDonald vs. Josh Koscheck

-"GSP Jr" is ready to make the world take notice! The 23 year old, fresh off dismantling Dong Hyun Kim, is eeger to shed the "prospect" label to turn into a contender. The UFC's favorite bad guy, Koscheck, wants to return to old form, and what better way than to derail the MacDonald hype train?

UFC on Fuel TV: Franklin vs. Davis!

Main Event:

Rich Franklin vs. Phil Davis

-Don't look now, but Rich Franklin is on his way back to the top! After whooping up on Chael Sonnen, Ace gets another tall task when he meets Phil Davis! Mr. Wonderful is coming off of a loss to Rashad Evans, and will do anything he can to make everyone forget about it. Will the young up-and-comer make a statement, or will Franklin continue his rebirth?

Joseph Benavidez vs. Ian Mccall

-McCall was originally slated to meet Demetrious Johnson again, but the UFC had a change of heart. McCall now takes on Joseph Benavidez, with the winner getting a crack at the flyweight title. Benavidez has proven to be a force at multiple weight classes, while McCall wants to live up to the top billing of the best flyweight in the world, a title he once claimed.

Brad Tavares vs. Chris Leben

-It's been almost a year since Brad Tavares last fought, when he beat Dongi Yang. Many have said the young Hawaii native has made leaps and bounds in his development as a fighter. He gets to test his skills against the returning Chris Leben. Leben is looking to put his demons behind him, and score a big KO victory.

Rolles Gracie vs. Lavar Johnson

-Rolles Gracie gets his return to the UFC. The One FC Heavyweight champion gets a crack at the big Lavar Johnson, who recently beat Brendan Schaub. Gracie doesn't want to ruin his second chance, and would love to take the fight right to Lavar.

Jared Hamman vs. Rousimar Palhares

-The kick boxer takes on the BJJ player. Hamman has been hitting a rough patch lately, and would love to KO Palhares. Rousimar has dropped his last two fights, and would love to walk away with Hamman's leg in hand.

Sean Sherk def. Jim Miller via. UD

Renan Barao vs. Raphael Assuncao[/u]

-Barao made quick work of Assuncao. He took it right to the ground, passed his guard, and locked in an arm triangle. Renan looks primed to go make a run for the top spot at 135!

Renan Barao def. Raphael Assuncao via. Arm Triangle (4:06, Rd 1)

Thiago Silva vs. Rampage Jackson

-Surprisingly, not much of a stand-up war in round 1. Silva scored a takedown, which Rampage was able to counter act with his butterfly guard. Thiago did land some good shots while standing over Jackson, and finished the round in half guard. 10-9 Silva.

-Both men come out with no interest in touching gloves. Silva tosses out a leg kick, but Rampage responds with some HUGE right hands! Thiago crumbles to the mat! Rampage swoops in and finishes this one off.

Rampage Jackson def. Thiago Silva via. TKO (1:08, Rd 2)

Main Event: UFC Featherweight Title

Frankie Edgar © vs. Erik Koch

-The champ dictated the pace of this round. While there was nothing worth mentioning, Edgar did a good job of scoring a takedown, and making sure the fight went where he wanted it. 10-9 Edgar.

-A very good round for the challenger. Koch scored a big head kick early on that dropped the champ. He proceeded to use his ground skills nicely, securing this round easily. 10-9 Koch.

-Not much to see here. 10-9 Edgar.

-Not much. 10-9 Koch.

-The two men were totally spent at this point. Koch shoots in for a late take down, but a sprawl from Edgar allowed the champ to obtain the back. With close to a minute left, Frankie sunk the hooks in, and locked in a rear naked choke for the win!

Frankie Edgar def. Erik Koch via. Rear Naked Choke (3:56, Rd 5) To Retain The UFC Featherweight Title!

UFC News & Notes:

-A close friend/source of mine was sitting behind the UFC brass at UFC 155. He said after Overeem was announced the winner of his fight with Ben Rothwell, Joe Silva leaned over to Dana and whispered, "Gonzaga," into his ear. Now take this however you'd like, but it looks like we may have our new number one contender for the title.

-The UFC is pleased to welcome new signee Bruno Santos. Santos, 25, holds a 15-0 record and won the Bellator FC middleweight title prior to signing with the UFC. His striking leaves a lot to be desired, but his ground game is world class. Expect the Brazilian to make some noise very soon.

-The UFC recently approached Tim Boetsch will an offer to fight Chris Weidman. His response? "Not now." Interesting.

UFC on Fox: Penn vs. Maynard Announced!

Main Event:

BJ Penn vs. Gray Maynard

-An intriguing match-up in our main event! Dana also announced that the winner of this fight will be next in line for Benson Henderson! Penn looked GREAT in his return to 155 with his domination of Nate Diaz, while Gray is coming off of an impressive win over Clay Guida. Who will get their shot at the belt?

Mike Pyle vs. Johnny Hendricks

-Look what we have here! ANOTHER number one contender fight! The 37 year old Pyle has come out of no where it seems, and is on a 3-0 run right now. Hendricks has been unleashing his brutal punching power on anyone that gets in his way. Something has to give!

Robert Drysdale vs. Wager Prado

-The TUF Heavyweight winner drops down to his natural weight of 205 and meets the Brazilian prospect! Drysdale is world class on the ground, and will be taking on vicious striker, Prado. Expect fireworks when these two prospects clash!

Shane Carwin vs. Roy Nelson

-An on-again-off-again rivalry will finally happen! Carwin has been fighting more injuries then he has actual people in recent years, and is looking to string together some impressive wins. Roy Nelson is coming off a big KO victory over Dave Herman, and would love to do the same thing to Carwin.

UFC 158: Jones vs. Machida II!

Main Event: UFC Light Heavyweight Title

Jon Jones © vs. Lyoto Machida

-Take two! Jones will meet, whom he considers his toughest challenge to date, once again. We know what Bones can do, and he showed off his flashy submission skills when he locked on a d'arce to take out Hendo. Machida, meanwhile, won his fight against highly touted prospect, Alexander Gustafsson. Will we see the same outcome of their first fight, or will The Dragon rise again?

Chad Mendes vs. Dennis Siver

-After this fight, we will know who gets a crack at Frankie Edgar! After losing to Jose Aldo, Mendes bounced back with a big KO win over Cody McKenzie, and looks to add on to his winning ways with a victory over Siver. Since dropping to 145, the German kick boxer is enjoying a two fight win streak and would want nothing more than to get another victory and a title shot.

Minotauro Nogueira vs. Stipe Miocic

-An interesting matchup for the heavyweight division. Big Nog is looking to prove that he's still a force and wants to make a run at the belt. Meanwhile, Strikeforce import, Miocic, wants to make a name for himself in the UFC, and what better way than by taking out a legend?

Alan Belcher vs. Brian Stann

-Don't blink! This one has "exciting" written all over it as two strikers will meet toe-to-toe. Belcher is 4-0 in his past four bouts, and knows a win against Stann would put him within reach of the title. For Stann, who recently KO'd Alessio Sakara, he would love to derail the Belcher hype and take some for his own hype train.

Jon Fitch vs. Jake Shields

-Both men, at one point in time, could very well be ranked as the best welterweight in the world. Now both are fighting off some rust, and looking to get back to their old, winning ways. With two great grapplers, expect this one to be played out on the mat.

Urijah Faber vs. Takeya Mizugaki

-Why not tag on a 6th fight? These two bantamweight's will meet once more as they jockey for position in the 135 lbs ranks. The last time these two men met, Faber got the better of Mizugaki and choked him out. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Takeya doesn't want a repeat of their first bout.

Jimmy Hettes def. Rani Yahya via. UD

-No real highlights here. Rory was able to score a takedown, and finished the round in side control. 10-9 MacDonald.

-Snoozer. 10-9 MacDonald.

-Dull. 10-9 MacDonale.

Rory MacDonald def. Josh Koscheck via. UD

Jacob Volkmann vs. Thiago Tavares

-Nothing special. Both men were trying to grapple, with little to no striking. Little separation, but 10-9 Tavares.

-Yawnnnnnn. 10-9 Volkmann.

-Thankfully, Volkmann locked on a standing guillotine to end this miserable fight.

Jacob Volkmann def. Thiago Tavares via. Guillotine (4:02, Rd 3)

Luke Rockhold vs. Mark Munoz

-Rockhold looked very good out there. Munoz pushed the pace, but Luke was able to obtain the back and take it to the ground. He finished the round with an RNC locked in tight, but the bell saved Munoz. 10-9 Rockhold.

-What looked like it was going to be a dull round turned out to be pretty solid. Munoz held the dominant position for most of the round, but was caught with a stiff shot that rocked him. This allowed Luke to score a late takedown, winning the round. 10-9 Rockhold.

-Nothing to see in this round. 10-9 Rockhold.

Luke Rockhold def. Mark Munoz via. UD

Main Event: UFC Welterweight Title

Georges St. Pierre © vs. Martin Kampmann

*The energy is electric for this one! GSP and Kampmann have a pretty good staredown, Martin sure didn't forget what GSP said about him!*

-Meh, a lay-and-pray round from the champ. Nothing really exciting. 10-9 St. Pierre.

-GSP came out looking to land some strikes, and he did just that. A beautiful spinning heel kick dropped the challenger. GSP was able to work his ground game, however he didn't do anything special on the ground. Enough to take the round. 10-9 St. Pierre.

-Nothing major here. GSP seemed to be getting gassed out there, which doesn't really bode well for the champ. 10-9 Kampmann.

-GSP came out looking to find his range and throws out a HUGE shot. Kampmann avoids it and BLASTS the champ with a SPINNING HEEL KICK! ST. PIERRE IS OUT COLD! THIS ONE IS OVER!!

He's on a hot streak, that's for sure. I'm still waiting for that one dominant performance from him, and not a come from behind victory. The welterweight division is stacked towards the top, so hopefully there's some separation soon.

As for the P4P king, I guess we can't argue that Bones Jones is the man...unless he loses to Machida...then it would have to be Cain or Frankie.

UFC 159: Velasquez vs. Gonzaga!

The UFC heads to China with an AMAZING card!

Main Event: UFC Heavyweight Title

Cain Velasquez © vs. Gabriel Gonzaga

-Many were wondering who would get a shot at Cain, and we have our answer! The surging Gonzaga is coming off of an emphatic KO victory over Daniel Cormier. The head kick earned him a title shot, and he's looking to continue his winning ways and shock the world by taking the belt away from Velasquez. With his first successful title defense out of the way, Cain wants to prove that he's the real deal and wants to hold the belt for a while.

Anderson Silva vs. Hector Lombard

-He's human after all! Anderson Silva surprised us all by losing to Chris Weidman, and his return fight isn't a tea party. The brutal Hector Lombard dismantled Rousimar Palhares, and would love to do the same to The Spider. A battle between two feared strikers, this has "fight of the year" written all over it.

Nick Diaz vs. John Hathaway

-He'ssss backkkkk! Everyone's (least?) favorite bad boy has returned from his suspension, and Nick Diaz is ready to take the belt ASAP. He'll have to work for it though, as John Hathaway will be standing across the cage waiting to scrap with the Gracie Black Belt. Will Diaz show us why he's one of the best in the world, or will Hathaway rain on the parade?

Shogun Rua vs. Glover Teixeira

-Two of the biggest names in Brazilian MMA will square off! This one will be a war, as the legendary Shogun meets the feared Glover Teixeira. Both men know how to throw hands, so we can fully expect a KO or TKO finish in this one!

Wanderlei Silva vs. Francis Carmont

-With this card being a land mark event, you HAVE to have one of the biggest names in the history of the sport on the card! Wanderlei returns with the scent of blood fresh, and his eyes on the prize. Meeting him in the cage will be TriStar member, Francis Carmont, who would love nothing more than to get the win over such a big name.

Undercard:

Shane Carwin vs. Roy Nelson

-Lay & pray round. Dull. 10-9 Carwin.

-Again, dull. Yet, Big Country was able to sweep Carwin and eventually got mount. He began dropping bombs, but Carwin was able to stay with it and didn't let the shots take their effect. 10-9 Nelson.

-This round stayed on the feet, but with little fan fare. Both men were drained, and there wasn't much action. Nelson did a good job of firing off counter strikes, which won him the round. 10-9 Nelson.

Roy Nelson def. Shane Carwin via. UD

Robert Drysdale vs. Wager Prado

-Wow, we have ourselves a start in the making! The TUF winner came out looking GREAT. After a few minutes of finding a rhythm, Drysdale scored a takedown. It didn't take long before he slapped on a RNC for the win. Impressive.

Robert Drysdale def. Wager Prado via. Rear Naked Choke (4:21, Rd 1)

Mike Pyle vs. Johnny Hendricks

-Someone was on a mission tonight! Big Rig Hendricks took the fight right to Pyle, and didn't give him a chance to think. After landing some good strikes, he scored a takedown, took the back of Pyle, then landed some big bombs. Donezo.

Johnny Hendricks def. Mike Pyle via. TKO (4:35, Rd 1)

*In his interview with Rogan, Hendricks looks at the camera, smirks and says "Hi, Martin. How are you? Let's hang out some time."*

Main Event:

BJ Penn vs. Gray Maynard

*Holy staredown, Batman! Herb Dean had to pull the two apart, they were ready to brawl before the fight even began!!*

-Wall & Stall tactic being used by Maynard. Snore. 10-9 Maynard.

-Round 1 repeat. 10-9 Maynard.

-Penn knew he had to finish this round, and began swinging for the fences. Gray stayed at bay, avoiding any major shots. Once he saw Penn was gassed, he scored a big takedown. This one is going to the judges...unless Gray leaves his arm laying in Penn's guard! Oh no, BJ threw his legs up! TRIANGLE!! It's secure...GRAY TAPPED OUT!

BJ Penn def. Gray Maynard via Triangle Choke (3:56, Rd 3)

*"You know, Joe, after my fights with Frankie, Fitch and Nick Diaz...everyone wanted me to quit. I came back and made two big statements, and I know there's someone out there that called me out specifically, by name! Benson Henderson, if you're watching this, fight me! I want my title back, Benson! Dana, Joe Silva, Lorenzo...GIVE ME BEN HENDERSON!"*

UFC 160: Weidman vs. Boetsch Announced!

Main Event: UFC Middleweight Title Fight

Chris Weidman © vs. Tim Boetsch

-Weidman did what many considered impossible: Beat Anderson Silva. It was an impressive performance, and his first challenge will come in the form of the red-hot Barbarian, Tim Boetsch! Enjoying a six fight win streak, The Barbarian is undefeated since dropping to middleweight. This one has "war" written all over it!

Co-Main Event: UFC Bantamweight Unification Bout

Dominick Cruz © vs. Michael McDonald (IC)

-The 135 pound king is back! Dominick Cruz is returning after a lengthy lay-off from TWO ACL surgeries! In his absence, Michael McDonald claimed the interim belt with an impressive showing against Renan Barao. McDonald has said he doesn't consider himself a champion until he beats Cruz. Now he gets his chance.

Charles Oliviera vs. Diego Nunes

-Two super-talented Brazilian featherweights are set to clash! Do Bronx has been on fire since dropping to 145, and has his eyes firmly on Frankie Edgar. He'll get his toughest challenge yet when he steps in with Diego 'The Gun' Nunes.

George Sotiropoulos vs. Melvin Guillard

-The Aussie is coming off a win over Andy Olge, but holds a 1-2 record in his last three. Meeting him in the cage is the explosive Guillard, who is coming off of a dismantling of Edson Barboza. Which fight will extend their winning ways?

Michael Bisping vs. Patrick Cote

-If Bisping ever needed a win in his career, it's now! The Count is 0-2 since his whooping of Mayhem Miller, and is dying to get back into his old ways. Meeting him will be the explosive striker, Patrick Cote! The hot-and-cold fighter Cote would love to score a huge KO victory over one of the biggest names in the UFC.

Undercard:

Hans Stringer vs. Tyler East

Mansour Barnaoui vs. Al Iaquinta
