Both sides work well in opposition to one another; Callum going back to those PSW roots with a great exchange of brawling with Guide, whilst Chord can certainly hang with Scout’s technical wrestling. The ever-alert Agent is constantly vigilant for any potential rules breaking, and she’s always ready to catch an ankle to prevent a cheap shot, on one occasion hopping onto the apron and physically pulling Scout aside to save him from getting blindsided.<p> </p><p> As much as it’s competitive, only one of these teams is the tag team champions and only one of these teams is the New Wave, with year after year of accrued experience as a partnership. Scout drags Chord down into the Special Force and Guide is already moving to eject Callum from the ring before he can get close. Christopher and Cornell give the contest their best shot, but run into the elementary issue… how on earth do you get men like Pete and the Buffalo off their feet and <em>keep</em> them there. <p> </p><p> <strong>Doakes:</strong> These guys have fought big men before… but they don’t get much bigger and much badder than Texas Buffalo.</p><p> <strong>Azaria:</strong> You can see what Kings’ Cross are attempting-nice low dropkick there from Christopher! – And I think in a very short time you’ll see results from this method- in comes Cornell! A pair of springboard clotheslines!</p><p> <strong>Rhodes:</strong> These two can certainly soar!</p><p> </p><p> Pete is on the deck, and for a brief period, the technical prowess of the newcomers lets them keep ahead of the game; and then Goldworthy’s pulling Pete’s foot onto the bottom rope. Break – and now he’s standing again. Ray Johnson remonstrates with Goldworthy, and Buffalo motors into the ring, cleaning Christopher’s clock with a brutal body block, then putting paid to a leaping Cornell with a headbutt out of midair. This contest goes some way towards showing that in a few years’ time, these men could be heirs apparent. Less recognition to go around, yet as strong a reaction as the New Wave match. It’s telling.<p> </p><p> Cage and Winston just ‘get’ each other, and though there’s no replacement for experience, the instinctive understanding goes a long way towards mitigating that particular gulf. Further, as more and more spots are countered, as Cage pulls Winston out of the ring, saving him from a Machines double knee combination…</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Doakes:</strong> They might not look like the type… but these guys have been doing some serious homework on the Machines.</p><p> </p><p> The clincher is a moment of innovation. Cage hooks Hill from behind, prepping to Cage Rage- Anderson vaults his partner and smashes into Cage with a leg lariat! The whole thing goes down in a messy pile. Winston enters to intercept, but Hill tackles him from the side and the pair both go bundling from the ring. Edd goes back to what brought him to the dance; Svensson tries to hook in his deadly armlock, Edd headstands out of it, runs up the turnbuckle and twists in midair to grab his opponent by the head and kill him off with a flying DDT. Initially, there’s not much belief that Taylor can do it, that he’s just way too overmatched by the boss, and that an early Guilt Trip is going to polish Taylor off at reasonable nick…<p> </p><p> And then Taylor rides through the judo hold, slipping clear of the choke, elegantly twisting to get his arm back under control and retaliating with a beautiful Northern Lights suplex. Well, that’s where the intrigue kicks in. Taylor isn’t the consummate athlete and worker that Tommy Cornell is, but he’s gutsy, determined, and he’s wrestled in one of the toughest and most unforgiving atmospheres in the world. He counters as many of Cornell’s throws and holds that are landed, he ghosts aside from the Blade Chop, the Three Inch Shrink doesn’t land, and at one stage, Taylor has both arms snagged, Butterfl- No!</p><p> </p><p> Cornell rolls out under the ropes. It’s not a matter of paranoia, of waiting for that stab in the back, so much as it’s a matter of pride. Golden feels like he’s been muscled in on, RDJ knows that there’s only so many more tilts he’s going to get at a championship. Tags are made a little harder than they need to be, calls of encouragement are made with more venom than can be considered in entirely friendly spirit.<p> </p><p> Hawkins and Tornado aren’t much better. For them, it’s more straightforward; there’s a pure clash of egos between them, and it’s certainly not helped by the fact that Tornado has plenty of designs on the world title. Marsh and Ammis on the outside reflect this perfectly, spending more time going back and forth between one another than they ever to providing any kind of tangible support to their wrestlers.</p><p> </p><p> The match itself is good, solid, very open. It swings back and forth. Whenever Tornado and Hawkins can actually cooperate, they are deadly efficient, having the edge in speed to land some serious business attacks, the highlight being a stereo pair of flying wheel kicks. The MO of the other side is to hit hard and hit often, and both Golden and RDJ can make their strikes stick – Hawkins is teed off on gleefully, and a couple of times it’s all he can do to get to his corner. On one occasion, Tornado is so busy shouting something at Ammis and Marsh that he misses the tag, and Hawkins suffers a beatdown for another minute before managing to get out again… something which he is less than happy about.</p><p> </p><p> The two of them start arguing on the apron, getting straight in each other’s faces. There’s a scream of warning- Tornado manages to duck aside but BAM, Hawkins is caught straight across the head by a rampaging Golden and sent FLYING to ringside! Sam Sparrow checks on him momentarily, Golden whirls – catches Sparrow’s back is turned – ROCKY ROAD STRAIGHT TO TORNADO’S FAMILY JEWELS!</p><p> </p><p> Tornado folds up – an arm catches him. Four members of the roster were arrayed in a semi circle around a TV, colourful controllers in hand, staring intently at the screen. Joel could make out a number of little cars driving along a cartoon track. Gathered around was quite a crowd, and the stream of chatter was constant:</p><p> </p><p>

"No! Damn bananas!"</p><p> </p><p>

"You blocked my shell!"</p><p> </p><p>

"Man Wolf, you admiring the scenery from way back there, or something?"</p><p> </p><p>

Interesting to see that the most common slip was Cage and Winston over the Machines. I'd love to make a feud out of that somewhere down the line, but right now as it stands, the newer duo just wouldn't have the name value to justifiably go over Brent and John. Having said that, the match was particularly strong, which bodes well for their long term future, considering that they can do that whilst relatively unpopular.</p><p> </p><p>

Found this one a bit tough to write for some reason, in some part due to personal apathy for go-home shows (explicit 'set up this match' angles put a dampner on my creativity), and to some degree that a couple of the angles - the Peak and Tornado ones, notably, were playing off of previous themes. Went through a few rewrites of those to stop them being rehashes of last time around.</p><p> </p><p>

In any case, it's slowish but the lack of scheduled updates is actually helping my motivation, paradoxically. I apologise for that unlikely being to everyone's tastes, though.</p>

Roger Cage & Winston vs. Operation Hollywood w/Zoe Ammis & Troy Tornado

Well matched teams go to battle with one another, and a first look at the Hollywood tandem shows the same kind of overbearing, arrogant confidence that their mentor possesses. Attitude aside, Greg’s pedigree is impeccable, and Parker certainly hasn’t got worse since the last time we’ve seen him. Early on, they look to assert themselves in every way they can, backing Cage into their corner, isolating him as far away from his partner as possible. Cage does his best, hanging in tenaciously, sometimes managing to fell one or another of his opponents. However, the Hollywood team are willing to judiciously cheat, and more than once the illegal man crashes the ring to prevent Cage escaping before hurriedly evacuating in the face of Ray Johnson’s remonstrations. On one occasion, Ammis even gets his attention as Cage tags, and Winston is put back into the corner.

The frustration builds within the masked butler as he paces back and forth on the apron, and at long last… Cage manages to sidestep an attempted double avalanche – his opponents crash messily into each other. He crawls, crawls… makes the tag! Winston comes roaring into play! Clothesline for Parker! Superman Punch to send Keith spilling out of the ring! Parker’s up- Spinebuster! Winston ties Parker’s legs up as he lays face down, leans back… INVERTED STF!

Tornado jumps up onto the apron, yelling at the referee, trying to distract- Cage flies into him from across the ring with a dropkick! Tornado takes a ride and lands square onto Greg Keith!

Parker taps!

"Five more!" Brendon encourages. Taylor lets out a groan, performing push-ups with his wife sitting on his back. "I know you can do it!"

Grumbling, Taylor forces his way through the final reps, then collapses with a gasp. Brendon steps away, laughing, and hands Taylor a water bottle.

"Okay now you just have to keep taking on water and run through some stretches... and you'll be ready for him."

Taylor nods slowly, pulling himself up, taking a slow sip of the water. "I hope, anyway. I should be able to win but Bryan Vessey... no laughing matter."

Brendon hesitates. "Josh..."

"Tracy no."

"I want to be out there with you Josh, you know that."

"Which is why I'm saying no."

"I didn't sign a deal - I didn't give up wrestling so I could sit on the sidelines! I have a manager's contract, Josh!"

"And I like being able to spend more time with you, but it's too dangerous for you to be around Vessey! He already hit you once!"

Brendon sighs, throwing up her hands. "I can handle myself. But fine. Fine. Just be careful out there."

Taylor nods slowly. "Always."

TCW All Action Championship

Edd Stone © W/Vita vs. Flying Jimmy Foxx

For once Edd’s corner is looking a little lonely, with just Vita there. Foxx approaches cautiously though, doing a circuit around the ring on the way in, perhaps remembering Xavier Ali’s under-ring appearance from the previous match. Edd sprawls laconically in a corner, affecting a yawn. Satisfied, Foxx rolls into the ring, and immediately goes nose to nose with Edd. Sam Sparrow starts to inspect the pair for weapons, pats down Foxx’s boots… Edd pokes Foxx in the eye.

At times, it seems like the sole way that Edd can keep ahead of the curve is to continue to liberally cheat, stretching the rules whenever he feels like he can get away with it. Foxx is angry, fired up, and as Edd, again and again, rakes the eyes, stomps on the foot, holds the tights, he just gets angrier. This gives his attacks more vehemence, more ferocity, but as the match wears on, limits his vision too – he’s getting careless, reckless.

Edd suddenly whips towards the ramp and hollers “FREDDY NOW!”.

Sparrow turns, Foxx turns. Vita throws a chair into the ring and Edd smashes Foxx across the back with it, returns it to Vita. Sparrow whirls back around and Vita’s already off the apron with the weapon out of sight. The perfect crime. Edd drags Foxx up and then sinks him with the Party’s Over.

Floyd Goldworthy stands in the ring, flanked by Pete and the Buffalo. He clears his throat.

“While two titans such as the men alongside me should need no introduction, let me say it one more time for those of you too ignorant to recognise pure power. Texas Pete, American Buffalo, representing the most powerful, dominant faction in TCW history the Hellfire club; former and future TCW World Tag Team Champions… Texas Buffal-“

“Floyd Goldworthy.”

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/Agent.jpg

Agent walks down the ramp, microphone in hand.

“Small stature and weak physical presence. Unlikely to be capable of more than minimal feats of strength.”

Floyd sputters in outrage. Agent keeps walking and keeps talking.

“Arrogant to a fault, incapable of seeing own flaws, eminently cowardly.”

Floyd’s face is going purple.

“Cautionary note; possessed of a level of cunning and not to be underestimated, in spite of being a weaselly good-for-nothing used car salesman.”

Agent rolls into the ring. Floyd makes a furious gesture, and Texas Buffalo step forward-

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/Guide.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/Scout.jpg

The New Wave rappel down from the rafters! Unclipping themselves from harnesses, they’re just in time to intercept the two big men as they bear down on the fearless Agent, and a wild brawl breaks out! Guide exchanging with Buffalo! Scout flinging Pete overhead! Agent sending Goldworthy over the top rope! The official tries to separate the teams but can’t even get close to the whirling melee – he’s calling for the bell, the match is on!

TCW World Tag Team Championships

The New Wave © w/Agent vs. Texas Buffalo w/Floyd Goldworthy

The brawl continues, see-sawing back and forth – The Wave had the element of surprise and have the advantage of speed, but Texas Buffalo have always had that strength advantage, and in a straight up fist fight will always have a shot at evening the odds. Eventually Guide goes flying at Pete and takes them both over the ropes and crashing to the floor outside. Faced with two approximately-legal men, the match begins proper around three minutes into the bout.

The former champions are looking meaner than ever, brutalising the Wave with power move after big power move. The managers are eminently vocal; Goldworthy spouting fury, inciting his charges to hit harder, hit more, Agent calmer, pointing out weaknesses, what the Wave need to tighten up. It’s close, perhaps more so than their first bout, and Rhodes observes that the opening brawl might not have been in the Wave’s best interests.

Azaria: Now here’s a little fact you may not know…

- households across the United States take a drink –

Azaria: But never have the TCW tag team titles been lost on the first defence; The New Wave have history on their side!

Doakes: Records are made to be broken.

That seems prophetic as Buffalo plants Scout and stalks him for the Stampede- Guide launches himself over the top rope and springboards off of it, catching Buffalo with the Guided Missile as the big man charges! Guide rebounds, looking almost as hurt as Buffalo, and rolls out of the ring. Buffalo staggers back, tags- Pete’s there to hoist Scout.

Scout’s got the ankle! He sweeps Pete’s leg with a scissor hold, shifts around and out of nowhere- SPECIAL FORCE! Pete’s caught with nowhere to go! Guide cuts off Buffalo on the outside! Agent pulls Goldworthy’s jacket over his head! – Pete’s tapping!

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/JoeyMinnesota.jpg

Minnesota emerges for his entrance. Focused, determined; nothing can disrupt his concentration. He strides down to the ring, rolling his neck, doing last minute shoulder stretches and rotations. He slides into the ring, raises an arm, then turns towards the ramp with a cold-eyed stare, waiting for Law…

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/RickLaw_alt3.jpg

Who hops the barricade and is on Minnesota from behind! Joey takes a hard shot to the back of the head, followed by repeated stomps. Law picks his foe up, hurls him into the turnbuckle – grabs him, slams his head into the opposite turnbuckle! He rains down punches upon Minnesota, then repeatedly drives a knee into Joey’s stomach, the onslaught dropping Minnesota to the floor. Law gets low and starts jawing, all but screaming into Minnesota’s face. The official intercedes but the damage has already been done.

Joey Minnesota vs. Rick Law

Minnesota’s hurt and it shows, Ray Johnson backing Law off to the opposite corner so he can check on Joey, propped up against the turnbuckle, seated in the corner. Minnesota, angry, animated, snaps something and Johnson, looking chagrined, shrugs and calls for the bell. Minnesota levers himself up with the ropes, but has barely made it to his feet before Law barrels into him from across the ring with a brutal clothesline to the corner. Law covers, 1…2…kickout!

It’s an exercise in survival, of fighting from beneath; Minnesota is a wounded animal, dangerous by any stretch of the imagination but for all that, still hurting. Law takes delight in cutting off each and every rally from his opponent, countering technical prowess with pure, simple brawling. Each time Minnesota readies for a takedown, Law is ready with a clubbing blow to the back, leg sweeps avoided and duly punished.

Rhodes: Minnesota just getting brutalised here.

Azaria: More hard shots to the head from Law, pushing Minnesota into the corner. He leans back… hard elbow to the jaw!

Law backs up, measures a seated Minnesota, runs in, knee flying at Joey’s head- no! Minnesota slips clear and Law crashes hard! Minnesota gets the leg, rolls him up – 1…2…no! Law springs up to his feet and is met with a beautiful dropkick, followed by Minnesota grabbing the arm, grapevining, and dropping back- painful armbar! Law struggles hard, struggles towards the ropes, even with Minnesota torqueing his hips, trying to keep Law in the middle of the ring. Inch by agonising inch, Law makes to the ropes, and Minnesota, with some grim satisfaction, keeps the hold cinched in for four whole seconds before letting it go.

It gives Minnesota a window back into the match, and it’s even, stays close, Law heavily favouring his arm. Joey makes use of that, twisting Law’s shoulder with a standing armbar before pulling him up into the Empire Spiral, straining with the effort to get the heavier man onto his shoulders-Minnesota’s taken too much punishment, his leg gives way! Law gets just enough distance and lunges with the lariat- Long Arm of the Law! He collapses in agony, but most importantly, on top of Minnesota.

“Jasmine Saunders here on the scene with number one contender Ricky Dale Johnson, and Ricky, it must be great to be back in the title picture.”

RDJ smiles, warm, genial. “It’s been a good while, ain’t it? Not much different from last time ‘round though; these two are tough customers and they only got tougher since last time I stood opposite either of ‘em with a belt on the line.”

“And tonight you have both; how does that triple threat stipulation alter your gameplan for the match?”

“Well, I ain’t gonna lie, Jasmine, more than one opponent is always an added complication, and when you ain’t sure how many years you’ve got left… more than one opponent is definitely gonna put a dent in that time.”

“You aren’t thinking of retiring on us, are you Ricky?”

RDJ grins. “Not just yet, Jasmine, not just yet. This old warhorse has still got some legs in him, and so far as the young bucks are concerned… well, they’ve unfinished business with each other. That’s a distraction, and I’ve seen enough of those to know that it’ll be preying on their minds.

And if they take their eyes off the ball for a second? You don’t wrestle for as long as I have without knowing how to take advantage of that.

I ain’t in the business of making promises I ain’t sure I can keep… so I’ll promise this; I am gonna do my damndest to bring home that belt. For me, for my fans, for TCW.”

TCW International Championship

Aaron Andrews © vs. Jay Chord

Frustrations are bubbling within the defending champion, but as the bell rings and there’s as-of-yet no sign of Andrews’ persistent tormentor, he visibly relaxes, gets his brain in gear. Chord spends much of this one attempting to break that composure, slapping Andrews around the head, surreptitiously raking the eyes, holding onto rope-broken submissions for just a hair longer than would be sportsmanlike. Andrews punches Chord in the face. A lot.

There are some glimmers of technical excellence between the pair, but that tends to be thrown out of the window in favour of the more gamesmanlike approach of Chord and the fire of Andrews, still there’s a sequence in the middle – counter hold to counter hold, culminating in Andrews spinning out of a headlock, Chord flipping, rolling over Andrews’ back, to dump him with a suplex, that gets the fans’ grudging approval.

Chord gets cocky off that one, popping to his feet and striking a pose. He pauses, considering, and then climbs the turnbuckle. He stands, steadies himself, leaps- ANDREWS CATCHES HIM OUT OF THE AIR WITH THE HOT SHOT! Chord whiplashes back with a thud and Andrews covers with aplomb!

There’s brisk, enthusiastic applause, amplified with a microphone. Andrews, tired yet triumphant, looks around for a few seconds, frowning and confused, then stops dead.

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/SuzanneBrazzle.jpg

Away off in the stands is the blonde woman, a smile of delight on her face, still clapping. Andrews’ expression goes through bemusement, to anger, then a mix between the two. The woman stops clapping - Doakes wondering aloud where on earth she got a microphone from – and raises the mic to her mouth… pauses, smiles again, and then gives a quick little bow and retreats back up the arena steps and out of sight.

The International title dangles almost forgotten from Andrews’ hand.

Rocky Golden, relaxed, serene, presses a weight with confident ease. Three reps in, and he gives a quiet nod and returns the barbell to its rack, a pair of hands coming into shot to spot it for him. Golden nods again in thanks and sits up, grabbing a nearby towel to rub his face.

“Makes you wonder,” he says without preamble. “Hawkins has always had Cornell in his corner. Makes you wonder just what it would take to drive those two apart.”

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/KoshiroIno.jpg

“Hm,” the camera pans to show Koshiro Ino. “I believe the term is ‘thick as thieves’?.”

Golden chuckles. “They stick together cause they’re the only ones as bad as each other, huh?”

Ino smiles softly. “Perhaps. Perhaps in the long term the gains of the partnership outweigh the sacrifices that they must make in support of one another.”

“Lot of people to keep an eye on out there. Wolf, Ricky D, Cornell… even Marsh, she cost me last time around. Seems he comes up with new tricks week on week.”

Ino hesitates. “Rocky-san… I would like you to know this; I am just one man, but you have my word that I will do everything I can to prevent interference in this main event.”

Rocky grins, that big genuine Rocky grin. “I owe you one Kosh, I mean it.”

Ino gives a slight bow. “Repay me by winning.”

Sammy Bach vs. John Anderson

There’s some discussion ahead of this one, and that’s not entirely surprising, given the late-notice booking of the match. The billing’s higher than you’d expect for this type of contest, and although the announcers make clear that Bach and Anderson are both strong competitors, there’s an underlying sense of confusion about where exactly the match has come from.

For the lack of hype though, it’s an excellent contest, both men seeming eager to seize the unexpected opportunity with both hands. It’s quick-paced, lightning fast exchanges of holds, strikes, and bursts of high-flying action; Bach has the obvious edge in speed, Anderson the more technically nuanced competitor. It goes from all action to finished in a matter of moments as Anderson pitches Bach for the Ammo Dump, and Bach, in an incredible display of agility, manages to roll himself UP Anderson’s front, contort around, and then slip off of Anderson’s shoulders with a hold secured-BACH ON YOUR BACK!

Completely caught out, Anderson’s forced to submit.

Wolf Hawkins stands alone backstage, TCW World Heavyweight Championship around his waist, the back drop simple and dark.

“Two opponents. That’s what has been going round and round in circles for the past month. Two opponents.

When you’re a champion, you have earned the right to the privilege that comes with holding a belt. You have the champion’s advantage, yeah, but what you should also have is the right to face challengers as they come, and when those challengers lose… they should step aside.

One.

By.

One.

I beat Golden for this title and I beat him in the rematch. Whine, complain, point out technicalities, the fact is the record book and the officials count the only thing that matters; I. Won. I have earned[/i ]the right to say no to Rocky Golden, but tonight I wind up facing him anyway. Tonight… well that just means that I’m not leaving him with any more excuses.

Ricky Dale Johnson, RDJ, my mentor’s nemesis. One of the biggest stars in the history of TCW.

History.

Strange kind of word, history. It’s got meaning, it’s got significance, and it’s got weight. How heavy are all those years feeling right about now, Ricky? How much further can you go before you’re brought down by the burden of your own storied past? Because that’s where your glory days are, Ricky, they’re in the past.

I am the now and I am the future, and I refuse to let a washed up old man and the biggest hypocrite in this industry put an end to that.

I am walking out of this building as your world champion.”

Joshua Taylor vs. Bryan Vessey

Taylor stalks down to the ring with purpose. Vessey lies in wait for him. What follows is a hammer-and-tongs match that sees both men draw on their experience in Japan, laying into each other with stiff shots and excruciating holds. Perhaps it’s the puroresu inspired approach being ill-advised, or following on the heels of a surprisingly good match and a strong promo, but the actual reception is a little lukewarm… the action’s there but the fans aren’t as into it as they might be.

It’s a quiet observation midway through from Kyle Rhodes.

Rhodes: This is the angriest I’ve ever seen Taylor.

And it dawns that he’s correct. Taylor’s wrestling with an expression of cold fury on his face, snarling as he applies a wrenching hold, as he drives repeated forearms into Vessey’s face. It’s a long way from Taylor’s usual calm and calculated approach to wrestling, and there’s call to say that he’s better for it.

Call for the opposite, however, as Taylor misses wildly with a lunge and Vessey catches the arm, twists- lifting Taylor into the Vessey Driver- No! Taylor swings himself clear- HE CATCHES RAY JOHNSON ON THE WAY DOWN! Taylor stumbles, Vessey ‘falls’ forward, but the astute may note he’s scrambling with a turnbuckle pad. Taylor checks on the referee, turns to start back towards Vessey- WAFFLED with a stiff shot to the jaw! Taylor drops like a stone and Vessey makes scarce the evidence – brass knuckles!

Johnson groggily crawls to count the pinfall.

A video airs.

Rocky Golden is dropped by the Full Moon Rising-

“Cornell! Goddammit Cornell’s tipped the odds in Wolf’s favour one more time”

Hawkins holds aloft the World Heavyweight title, Cornell at his side.

“Jason, Kyle… I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”

“Give it up Rocky! This doesn’t have a Hollywood ending!”

Ricky Dale Johnson puts down Bryan Vessey.

“ Might be that I don’t get too many more shots at it.”

Rocky has Wolf covered, Brooke pulls the referee out of the ring!

“An’ when he beats the both of you, there won’t be a bleedin’ excuse left.”

Hawkins drops Benny Benson.

“You just signed me up for a freaking handicap match! “

RDJ and Rocky stare down. Wolf, retreating but not defeated, raises his title as he backs up the ramp.

TCW World Heavyweight Championship

Wolf Hawkins © w/Brooke Marsh vs. Ricky Dale Johnson vs. Rocky Golden

Golden extends a hand to RDJ. RDJ looks down. Takes it. Hawkins comes leaping in with arms spread wide- the two big men smash the champion out of the air with dual lariats! RDJ looks to Golden. Golden looks to RDJ – they start swinging at each other! Lefts and rights and rights and some more lefts, neither man giving an inch and neither man asking for one as they vie for dominance. Hawkins flies from out of shot and atop the turnbuckle, blasting both men with a dropkick- they go tumbling over the top rope! Hawkins glances across the ring, then hits the far ropes and rebounds to leap over with a suicide dive!

That tells the tale. Whenever it seems like one man is out of the picture, they reappear out of nowhere to take their opponents by surprise and swing the momentum back into their favour. Hawkins is smaller, not as strong, but he brings every ounce of cunning possible to bear, uses every trick in the book and his vaunted agility to stay in charge. That is until RDJ steps to the fore, exerting veteran instincts, the experience coming from two and a half decades in a wrestling ring, the consummate familiarity with every kind of match and every kind of opponent. That is until Rocky Golden asserts himself with fire and energy and the backing of the TCW fans buoying him, sending him forward, the passion and the heart of a man who just wants to wrestle. That is until Hawkins…

The balance tips madly time after time, and perhaps it isn’t a surprise when an unwelcome guest appears at ringside.

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/TommyCornell.jpg

Tommy Cornell saunters down the ramp with a mile-wide smirk on his face, ready no doubt to weigh the scales in the favour of his protégé-

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/KoshiroIno.jpg

And Koshiro Ino charges from backstage to crash into Cornell from behind! The boss is floored and Ino’s on him, raining down punch after punch as Cornell frantically tries to cover up and defend himself.

Rocky Golden catches that Sam Sparrow doesn’t have his attention on the action- ROCKY ROAD TO RICKY DALE JOHNSON! RDJ folds up – Rocky turns, seeking Hawkins – dropkick, Rocky goes into the ropes… and goes over the ropes!

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/BrookeMarsh.jpg

Brooke Marsh jumps down from the apron, the picture of innocence. The top rope trembles, as if it had just snapped back into place from some lowered position…

Hawkins drops on top of RDJ, hooks the leg… and picks up the retention.

That took forever. I kept on thinking I was finished and then finding more angles that I'd fit in there somewhere (probably because there were several I'd been lazy about when first writing them into the show and not put much description, grumble mumble). Angles seem to be the main drag in terms of the show - I can afford to not have amazing ones cause of the change to how they're factored in, but my undercard angles are wildly inconsistent and often seem at odds with the participants - for instance the 'B-matches, D+ angles' of the Wave, and 'B- matches, C angles' from Minnesota/Law. Work in booking progress.</p><p> </p><p>

Overall the event went okay with one notable letdown - the semi main contestants have done better than that with other opponents who have been less talented/less over comparatively... can only imagine that following the strong Wolf promo hurt the match - which unfortunately had the knock on effect of taking down the grade for the PPV, we soldier on.</p><p> </p><p>

Couple of seeds planted I think, hope it was a decent read. A lot of stories still warming up right now. Thanks to everyone who votes in the predictions, reads along - and for the DOTM/spotlight nominations and votes, those were very unexpected!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

As the overall winner of this round of the prediction contest, <strong>RickyMex</strong> wins the opportunity to ask any three questions of the TCW roster - this can be divided among any number of workers he chooses, and can be in or out of kayfabe. I can't promise the answers will be especially illuminating depending on who gets asked what, but answers will be forthcoming nontheless! <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p><strong><em>Question Time!</em></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>To Tommy Cornell: Why have the number of female talent in TCW suddenly increased?</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/TommyCornell.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

"You gotta keep ahead of the curve in wrestlin'; you gotta be doin' new things to look competitive. SWF don't have women wrestlers, USPW do, TCW don't... yet. For that, s'about exposure. You can't just expect fans to go 'oh, okay!' to as much new talent as we brought in. The way we're doin' things means the crowds get some time to warm up to the girls without throwin' 'em in to sink or swim like we've done most of the new male talent."</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<em>To Eddie Peak: Do you think a monster like you would be a better fit in USPW or SWF?</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/EddiePeak.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

"Peak fits nowhere. Peak is an outsider, a predator. And those other <em>places</em>... they are less rich in prey, less <em>interesting</em> for the purposes of Peak. Here, the morsels at least put up a fight, make the hunts entertaining. Without the chase, the meal is so much less... satisfying."</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<em>To Wolf Hawkins: Do you believe yourself as TCW for life?</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z453/EddStoneNOTBPW/TCW/WolfHawkins.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

"I owe Tommy and Joel a lot. In Tommy's case pretty much my career, and Joel for having the faith to put the title on me. Does that mean I'm a TCW lifer? I mean... maybe? I've learned enough about this business that nothing is forever and that circumstances change, but I'm happy here right now; I'm getting a lot of TV time I have a good push and a storyline at my back... So I don't know, it depends. This run won't last forever but I'm established in TCW, I'm not sure I love the idea of having to start again.</p><p> </p><p>

So... never say never, but right now I can't see myself leaving."</p>
