CZCW: Sweeter than Wine

Recommended Posts

“I don’t think I’ve seen much of your work,” he told her.

“I don’t think anyone has,” she shot back.

He smiled. He liked that one. He was being coy, however. It would be irresponsible to interview her without seeing her stuff beforehand. And while “Babes of Sin City” wasn’t great wrestling (or even decent wrestling, for that matter), the storytelling was very good.

“So, Miss Honey Golightly, you have an audience with me. What do you want to say?”

“Well, Mr. Anderson-”

“Cliff.”

“Cliff. Well, Cliff, I assume that by taking this meeting, the rumors are true, and you are going to have an open booking position.”

Cliff didn’t say anything. It was true that the longtime booker, the Guru, was giving up the book to Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling. But no one knew for sure, except the two of them.

“Well, I have put together a proposal for how I would improve the Coastal Zone. Did you get a chance to look at it?”

“I did,” Cliff responded.

She was nervous. Cliff seemed to be put out by meeting with her. It took three weeks of calls for him to agree to see her, and only if she would do it before their New Year’s Day show. The Babes of Sin City had closed six weeks ago, and outside of booking the American Independent show in December, she hadn’t had any work since then. In fact, booking in the Coastal Zone was probably her last shot in the industry. And she was probably too old to do what she used to do. Maybe. “Do you have any questions about it, Cliff?”

“Let’s go over some of the major points, Honey.”

“Sure. You and I both know the reputation that CZCW has: a modern, fast, exciting product that showcases up and coming talent before they make it to the big leagues. My ideas are to take this framework and expand our reach. Why do we need to stick to Southern California? We can run shows all over the west coast, the Rockies, Texas, and so on and so forth. I know CZCW is in the Confederation, and I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes. The COTT is a tool we can use to get our talent over everywhere. But there is no reason why we can’t work with the bounds of the organization to accomplish our goals.”

“Okay, Honey. Go on.”

“As I said before, our fans want fast, exciting, high flying action. But that isn’t always achieved with a standard singles match. That’s why ladder matches do so well here: they allow for innovative spots that showcase our talent. You need to keep them special. You can’t have 6 ladder matches a show. But what if we found a way to make each match a little more exciting? If we upped the content risk a little bit more than you’d see in a standard singles or tag match?”

“Um hmm,” he agreed.

“I’ve thought of a lot of ways to do this. I figured some sort of structure around the ring would obscure sight lines. Then I thought of making the top rope taller, to allow for more spectacular moves off the turnbuckle. But the talent would have to adjust to higher ropes, and it might be problematic, especially for the shorter wrestlers on the roster. And most hardcore matches are too barbaric...”

“We do not want to be IPW or SGW,” Cliff asserted.

“Exactly. But how can we up the content risk? I figured it out. ‘Coastal Rules.’ No countout. No time limit. No stoppage. Things get out of hand, the ref can call for the disqualification. Otherwise, the match has to end in the ring. But between the first bell and the last bell, the wrestlers can go anywhere they want. From the ring to the ground, to the entrance, even through the crowd. It gives the potential for more danger. The match doesn’t even have to leave the ring, but opens the door for it. We’ll start doing it once or twice a show, maybe for the title matches, then gradually introduce throughout the card. Before too long, it will be second nature.”

Cliff nodded. She had some good ideas. He figured she would be the one to hire before she came in, but she her ideas had left no doubt in his mind that she was the right fit.

“So,” she continued, “you mentioned IPW and GSW before. The competition. It’s been awhile since you had anyone so close to home, right? Well, we let them destroy each other. And we sign non-aggression pacts with them so they can’t use our guys to get over.”

“These ideas are great; I like where you are going with this so far. But why are you the right person for the job? I’m sure I could find some young guy who could book and still make me money.”

“Cliff, it’s not about the money for me. I started BSC over 6 years ago. It didn’t start as wrestling, but I sure as hell tried to end it that way. The more actual wrestling I had, the more I grew to love the sport. I decided I wanted to be a part a wrestling for the rest of my life. The problem was that I couldn’t get anyone to sign for me. I was a tiny company in Vegas with mostly strippers as performers. To attract female talent that could actually get over in the ring as wrestlers, I needed to grow in size, and to grow in size, I needed television. In November when I couldn’t get a network to call me back, I saw the writing on the wall.”

“And you don’t want to book independent shows for the rest of your life?” Cliff asked.

“Does anyone ever want to book an independent show?” she replied.

“Okay, I think you’ve said enough. Here is the situation. The Guru is done as booker. It was his decision, and he is going to stay on as color commentator for as long as he wants.”

“Wow. Okay.” She didn’t think we would be as forthcoming with this information.

“I like what you have to say. I have seen your stuff, and it’s good. You have a good handle on the product. I’ve seen the guys you want to bring in. I want you to call them as soon you finish booking tonight’s show.”

“Umm, tonight’s show?”

“Yes. You start right away, if you accept the position, of course. I hope you don’t mind sitting at the announce table with us, either.”

Live, from the Grissom Auditorium in sunny Southern California, it’s Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling Revolution! Who needs roses when you can be in the Zone! Tonight, Cliff Anderson and the Guru are joined by Coastal Zone newcomer, Honey Golightly.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/CliffAnderson.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/TheGuru.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/HoneyGolightly.jpg

Flash Sparrow vs. Rich and Famous

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/TheAmericanFlash.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MattSparrow.jpg VS. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/JakeIdol.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/JackpotJordan.jpg

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Flash Sparrow defeated Rich And Famous in 17:39 when Matt Sparrow defeated Jake Idol by pinfall with a Bird Brain Buster.

The Birdman of the Coastal Zone gets the pinfall here. Idol and Jackpot isolated the American Flash for most of the match, but a hot tag to Birdman got their team the win.

Frankie-Boy Fernandez vs. Waylon Walls

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/Frankie-BoyFernandes.jpg VS. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/WaylonWalls.jpg

In an extremely poor match, Frankie-Boy Fernandes defeated Waylon Walls in 8:31 by pinfall with a Dirt Nap.

Waylon Walls doesn’t seem to connect with the fans in Grissom Auditorium. Fernandes hasn’t become a Zone favorite, but he doesn’t have “Smack heat*” like Walls.

22

*”Smack heat” is the presumably the Cornellverse version of “X-Pac heat.”

Al Coleman vs. Marc Speed

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/AlColeman.jpg VS. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MarcSpeed.jpg

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Marc Speed defeated Al Coleman in 14:23 by submission with a Cross Armbreaker.

Fairly good match between Speed and Coleman. There gimmicks have a lot in common, as Speed is an MMA bad ass while Coleman is a technical machine. Post match, Speed offered a hand to Coleman. Coleman figured it to be a trick and protected his weakened arm.

Coastal Zone Xtreme Championship

California Love Machine vs. Air Attack Weasel

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/CaliforniaLoveMachine.jpg VS. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/AirAttackWeasel.jpg

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Air Attack Weasel defeated California Love Machine in 14:09 by pinfall with an Air Attack Ace. Air Attack Weasel makes defense number 1 of his Coastal Zone Xtreme title.

Weasel really worked his Anarchist gimmick here; he repeatedly remarked that the CZCW couldn’t hold him back and that their rules were keeping him down. He tried to use a steel chair on California Love Machine, but Pee-Wee Germaine stopped him before he got himself disqualified. In the end, the Air Attack Ace let the Weasel retain.

Donnie J vs. Masked Cougar

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/DonnieJ_alt3.jpg VS. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/Masked-Cougar-alt4.jpg

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Donnie J defeated Masked Cougar in 16:41 by pinfall with a Death On Miami Beach.

Donnie J comes away with the victory with Brittney Hollywood at his side. They two make a very good pairing together (most likely due to their natural chemistry). The match was back and forth from start to finish. Masked Cougar missed his Cougar Pounce, giving Donnie J the opportunity for the win.

53

Zone Out vs. the Cali Dragons

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/FoxMask_alt2.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/Remmy-Skye-alt1.jpg VS. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MikeyJamesALT.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/FrankiePerezALT.jpg

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, The Cali Dragons defeated Zone Out in 31:13 when Mikey James defeated Remmy Skye by pinfall with a Scything Side Kick.

Great match between these two sets of friends. The Cali Dragons showed why folks call them the best independent tag team here. James showcased his signature martial arts style. Remmy Skye was a little off his game tonight, but the talent of the other three men was enough to lift them to the match of the night, and quite possibly the best match of anyone anywhere in the world of 2013 (so far, at least).

Overall: 56

As the show ended, Cliff Anderson told the paying crowd to keep their eyes peeled for exciting announcements in the coming weeks regarding the Coastal Zone.

One of the things I like about playing CZCW is that you are thrown into booking right away. You start up a new game, and BAM you are at your first show. I wanted my user character to experience that, too. From here on out, the narrative parts of the story won't be posted the same day as the show. I have a couple banked, so I will try to get some stuff out before Christmas. I'll post the card beforehand so we can do some sort of guessing contest too, you anyone is interested. Thanks for reading!

Donnie J is backstage with his valet, Britney Hollywood. Donnie, still sweating from his match, pulls his arm from around Britney to address the camera.</p><p>

“Ladies and germs, you all know as the number one star of the Coastal Zone, Mr. Donnie J! If you don’t know, then now is the perfect time for you to get caught up. You see, I’m just about as good as one can be. I beat Masked Cougar, I have a beautiful woman on my arm, and I am leaving for Miami tomorrow morning. But what does the man who has everything need? Simple: I need my title shot. Mikey James, I’m coming for you. If you put your strap on the line against me, I might let you leave with some dignity. You avoid me, you better watch your back. Either way James, I’m coming for you. You are going to have a rough time, but for me,” says Donnie as he puts on his signature shades, “life’s a beach.”</p>

“It was a good first show. Not great, but good.”

Cliff Anderson sat across from his new booker, Honey Golightly. That can't be her real name, he thought to himself. Must be a showbiz name. The two were seated at an outdoor restaurant in downtown San Diego.

“Thanks Cliff. In my defense, I did only have two hours to prepare-”

“No need to defend yourself. I’ll take a good show over a bad one. Did you make your calls to the new talent?” he asked.

“Contracts have been offered. I’ll let you know when I hear back.”

“Good. In the meantime, let’s talk about what I need you to do here in the Coastal Zone. First off, I don’t need any troublemakers on the roster. If they have problems with the law, we don’t want them. Understand?”

“I do.”

“Good. Next point. We want to built young talent. No dinosaurs in the CZCW, at least no more then we already have. Let’s keep the next hires under 40. Thirdly, we are a regional company. We don’t get any smaller than that.”

“Shouldn’t be a problem.”

“Not if you keep running shows like the one last night.” He smiled. “Now here is the big one. As of yesterday, we had $100,000 in the bank. By the end of 2014, I want that amount doubled.”

“That’s just over $4,000 a month, right?”

“4100 and change. Get that much in the bank, and then we will spend it. Sounds good?”

“We might have to find a way to get more sponsorship money. We might have to tweak our product a little.”

“Small tweaks are fine. I just don’t want to be “sports entertainment” in six months, okay?” Cliff told her. “Now, there is something you had in your proposal we didn’t talk about yesterday.”

“The extra six shows a year?” she asked.

“Bingo. I booked Grissom for the last Monday in January. We’ll start there. Maybe in a few months we can start running shows elsewhere?”

“Sounds great. I really want to thank you for this opportunity, Cliff. I really appreciate. it.”

“Just don’t make me regret it, Honey. You are already off to a pretty good start. Let's keep it going. Now that the business is out of the way, let's talk about something else. Are you going to move out here?”

The owner and new booker of CZCW continue to make small talk as the afternoon wears on..

Coastal Zone Championship

Mikey James vs. Donnie J

Coastal Zone Xtreme Championship

Air Attack Weasel vs. Marc Speed

CZCW Tag Team Championship

Going Coastal vs. Mystery Challengers - Going Coastal aren't great, so I'd switch the belts. That said, I can't see you moving more than one belt on a show, which explains my first two predictions.

Frankie Perez vs. Remmy Skye - I'm high on Remmy. And Remmy's high on... life. Yeah, just life.

Masked Cougar vs. Matt Sparrow - Which is more awesome, a cougar or a sparrow? Stupid question...

Fox Mask vs. Jake Idol - Because we already have one CZCW diary where Foxy is struggling, a second would make me cry.

Live, from the Grissom Auditorium in sunny Southern California, it’s Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling Breakdown! All three Coastal Zone Championships are on the line tonight. Cliff Anderson is on play by play, and the Guru and Honey Golightly are on color. Let’s get right to the action!

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/CliffAnderson.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/TheGuru.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/HoneyGolightly.jpg

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/JakeIdol.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/FoxMask_alt2.jpg

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Fox Mask defeated Jake Idol in 12:28 by pinfall with a Fox Hunter.

Fox Mask opens up tonight’s show with a big win here. The elder statesman of the Zone was too much for the cocky Jake Idol.

Coastal Zone Tag Team Championship

Hernandez & Jameson vs. Going Coastal

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MainstreamHernandez_alt4.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/KirkJameson-1.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/CaliforniaLoveMachine.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/Frankie-BoyFernandes.jpg

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Mainstream Hernandez and Kirk Jameson defeated Going Coastal in 12:32 when Kirk Jameson defeated Frankie-Boy Fernandes by pinfall. Mainstream Hernandez and Kirk Jameson win the Coastal Zone Tag Team titles.

What a shocker! Tonight’s mystery challengers pulled off their first win in the Zone by knocking off Going Coastal and winning the Tag Team Championships! The fun loving Mainstream Hernandez and the mysterious Kirk Jameson have a lot of experience in the ring, and it shows.

51

Matt Sparrow is in the ring, ready to face off against Masked Cougar. Cougar’s music playing, but he isn’t coming down. Instead... it’s Matthew Keith, son of former SWF Champion and current MAW owner.

Matt Sparrow vs. Matthew Keith

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MattSparrow.jpg VS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MatthewKeith.jpg

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Matthew Keith defeated Matt Sparrow in 16:55 by submission with a Proton Lock.

Sparrow put up a good fight, but Keith was ultimately better prepared for the match. He proudly declared after the pinfall, “I am the future of this sport! I’ll be on top for a long time, so learn to live with it!”

Coastal Zone Xtreme Championship

Marc Speed vs. Air Attack Weasel

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MarcSpeed.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/AirAttackWeasel.jpg

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Marc Speed defeated Air Attack Weasel in 10:34 by disqualification.

Air Attack Weasel didn’t get himself DQed to sneak away with the victory. He had a legitimate chance to score the pinfall, but he chose to ignore the referee's warning and used a steel chair, screaming “I don’t have to live by your rules!”

“Well then, Weasel,” Cliff Anderson declared over the public announce system, “from now on, the Coastal Zone Xtreme Championship with be defended under Coastal Rules! No count outs, no time limits, and stoppages! The referee also has the discretion to award the challenger the title if the match ends in disqualification!” The crowd likes that. “And from here on out, all Coastal Zone Championships will be defended under Coastal Rules, including tonight’s title match!”

30

Remmy Skye vs. Frankie Perez

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/Remmy-Skye-alt1.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/FrankiePerezALT.jpg

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Remmy Skye defeated Frankie Perez in 19:25 by pinfall with a Skye Diver.

Remmy gets revenge from the tag match at Uprsing. Skye had a better night on the ground and in the air, proving that few can stop him when he is at the top of his game.

53

Coastal Zone Championship

Donnie J vs. Mikey James

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/DonnieJ_alt3.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MikeyJamesALT.jpg

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Mikey James defeated Donnie J in 21:15 by pinfall with a Scything Side Kick. Mikey James makes defence number 3 of his Coastal Zone Championship title.

Donnie J, coming off the big win last time, couldn’t defeat James and capture the Coastal Zone Championship. The men took full advantage of new Coastal Rules however. Donnie had James down and out on the entrance ramp, but he couldn’t get him into the ring quick enough to capitalize. James recovered and hit his Side Kick for the win.

A close up on the Coastal Zone Xtreme Championship. As we zoom out, we see the strap is being held by Air Attack Weasel. “Coastal Rules? What is this bullshit? Last I checked, I was the Xtreme Champion. Where I’m from, extreme doesn’t mean ‘no count-out’. Extreme means no rules. And that’s what I am all about. Rules are oppression. Rules are made by the ruling class to keep you from overthrowing them. But I’m not about all that. The administration is the problem, not me. I will hold on to this title to piss them off. I will show the whole world that Air Attack Weasel won’t play by their rules.”

Next: Honey Golightly makes an appearance on a wrestling call in show! If you have any questions for her, please ask them here! (Please do. I don't want to have to think up all of them.)

“We are here with former owner of Babes of Sin City and current color commentator for Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling, Honey Golighty. How are you this afternoon, Honey?”

“I’m great Chet, thanks for asking.” Honey was far from great. She couldn’t remember the last time she was this nervous. She was very anxious with BSC, but there were too many things to worry about to be nervous. She was probably nervous when she first started dancing on stage, but that went away quickly.

“Honey, congratulations on your new position in CZCW.” Chet was a lifelong wrestling fan. His pudgy frame kept him out of the ring, but he was able to stay close to the sport by covering it on the internet. And since TEW.com hired him, he even made a living on it.

“Thanks Chet. I am very grateful for the opportunity that Cliff Anderson has given me.” Her palms were sweating. TEW.dom had asked for Cliff to do the interview, but he suggested Honey do it instead. This all but confirmed that her role in the company was more than just color commentator.

“Let’s talk about that role. You joined the promotion at the start of the new year behind the announce table, but there is speculation that you are working behind the scenes as well.”

Chet hadn’t really asked a question, but Honey decided it was best to just get the cat out of the bag right away. “That is true, Chet. I am active both in front of the camera as a commentator and behind the camera as part of the booking team.” She was being modest. She WAS the booking team.

“So how did you hook up with Cliff Anderson? Did you call him or..” Man, Honey was a beautiful lady. Chet wasn’t the most successful guy when it came to women, but he did alright. But man, he could never get a girl like her.

“I did call him. We scheduled a meeting at his office. He was familiar with my work, and we chatted a bit, and he hired me.”

“First time you ever met him?”

“First time I ever met him.”

“Wow, that is amazing,” Chet said. “Alright, let’s take some calls. First on the line is Biff. Biff, what question do you have for Honey?”

“Honey, I heard that Mikey James is leaving to join Burning Hammer? When were you going to tell us about this?”

Honey sighed. “Mikey James, Matthew Keith and newcomer KC Glenn have signed on to tour with Burning Hammer over the new couple months. I can assure you that we have been in contact with Burning Hammer, and these three young men will be able to work both shows without any issues. CZCW has not released anyone this year, nor has anyone asked to leave.”

“Thanks Biff. MichiganHero is on the line. Mr. Hero, your question?”

“Miss Golightly, do you have any plans to bring any of the... workers... from that two bit sleave joint you ran in Vegas to the Coastal Zone?”

“”Whoa whoa whoa,” says Chet. “Let’s not mud sling around here.”

“It’s okay Chet. I ran Babes of Sin City, and I know what it was like. He’s right. MichiganHero, I didn’t sign on in the Zone to turn it into BSC 2. I’m not trying to get jobs for all the people who used to work for me. In fact, most of them have left the wrestling world anyway. That being said, if one of the former Babes would be a good fit in our storylines, then CZCW would be happy to sign that talent. So to answer your question, no plans now, but I’m not closing the door.”

“Alright, next caller is Albert Turfle. Al, what do you have for us?”

“Hey Chet. CZCW is part of the Confederation of the Territories, yet little to no effort has been made on the promotion’s part to feature talent from other companies. Will this change in the near future?”

“Great question, Albert. Actually, one of the reasons I am here is to announce the CZCW-COTT Initiative. Cliff Anderson has committed to showcasing talent from all around the COTT on a continual basis. We already have two of these matches planned. The first one, I’m proud to announce, is scheduled for CZCW Vendetta. Mikey James, the Coastal Zone Champion, will take on Steve Flash from NYCW in the main event.”

“Wow, that is awesome to hear, Honey. And that is all the time we have here on TEW.com Squared Circle. For my guest Honey Golightly, I’m Chet Perkins. See you next time.”

Live from the Grissom Auditorium in sunny Southern California, it's CZCW Vendetta! Calling tonight's action will be Cliff Anderson, the Guru and Honey Golightly.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/CliffAnderson.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/TheGuru.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/HoneyGolightly.jpg

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MatthewKeith.jpg

Keith opened the show with a promo declaring 2013 to be his year. “Like my father before me, I will be the best wrestler in my generation. It will not be long before you question why you cheer for foxes and men named Mikey.”

50

Matthew Keith vs. Donnie J

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MatthewKeith.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/DonnieJ_alt3.jpg

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Donnie J drew with Matthew Keith in 19:28 following a double disqualification.

Keith didn’t quite back up his proclamation, but he didn’t lose. A simultaneous double chair shot meant a double DQ for Donnie J and Keith. Keith held his own against the Coastal Zone vet. The fans hated the finish and were quite vocal about it.

40

Notorius vs. Hernandez & Jameson

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MiguelRivera.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/CarlosBarrera_zpscbbc15b4-1.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MainstreamHernandez_alt4.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/KirkJameson-1.jpg

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Hernandez & Jameson defeated Notorious in 7:52 when Mainstream Hernandez defeated Carlos Barrera by pinfall with a Super Kick. Hernandez & Jameson make defence number 1 of their Coastal Zone Tag Team titles.

Hernandez and Jameson retain over Notorius. The challengers are a little too green to compete with the experienced tag champs. Jameson and Hernandez are getting over in Grissom. Mainstreams looked exceptionally well.

49

Marc Speed vs. Masked Cougar

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MarcSpeed.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/Masked-Cougar-alt4.jpg

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Masked Cougar defeated Marc Speed in 17:40 by pinfall with a Cougar Pounce.

Masked Cougar proved to be too agile for Speed; his quick strike attacks mostly landed on nothing but air. The Cougar Pounce still proves to be one of the most devastating finishers in CZCW.

54

Coastal Zone Xtreme Championship

Al Coleman vs. Air Attack Weasel

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/AlColeman.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/AirAttackWeasel.jpg

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Air Attack Weasel defeated Al Coleman in 15:07 by pinfall with an Air Attack Ace. Air Attack Weasel makes defence number 2 of his Coastal Zone Xtreme title.

Air Attack Weasel couldn’t cheat his way out of the match here, but he didn’t need to. Under Coastal Rules, Weasel and Coleman spilled out of the ring. Coleman had Weasel on the announce table and jumped at him from the apron, but Weasel slipped off before impact. After rolling him into the ring, Weasel hit his modified crusher on Coleman and scored the pin.

Zone Out vs. Flash Sparrow

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Zone Out defeated Flash Sparrow in 18:27 when Remmy Skye defeated The American Flash by pinfall with a Skye Diver.

Best friends Fox Mask and Remmy Skye came together for the victory against the Birdman and the Flash. The one-two punch these guys provide will make it hard for anyone to beat them in the near future.

Coastal Zone Championship

Steve Flash of NYCW vs. Mikey James

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/SteveFlash.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MikeyJamesALT.jpg

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Mikey James defeated Steve Flash in 27:37 by pinfall with a Scything Side Kick. Mikey James makes defence number 4 of his Coastal Zone Championship title.

Visiting veteran Steve Flash can’t hang with the Coastal Zone Champion Mikey James! James’ quick strike martial arts attack proved too much for the star of New York Championship Wrestling. Flash was brought in as part of CZCW’s COTT Initiative. The idea is that CZCW will consistently bring in fresh talent from around North America to compete in the Coastal Zone. James made CZCW Owner proud in this match.

A special message from CZCW owner, Cliff Anderson:

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/CliffAnderson.jpg

Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling would like to send the Stone Family their condolences on the passing of Dan Stone, founder of North of the Border Wrestling. I knew Ed well. He was a loving father and a good friend. He was an integral part of professional wrestling in Canada, but his influence can be seen throughout North America and the rest of the world. He will be missed.

Out of character: Thank you guys that have been reading so far. Sorry we didn't have a guessing contest for this one. I'm still getting used to running all this. We will have one for the next card.

If you haven't caught on already, I'm trying to post something new everyday. I should be able to run this schedule for a while longer at least (and hopefully until this diary is finished, whenever that will be). The off-day post will most likely be an interaction between Honey and someone, whether it be an interview, a meeting with Cliff, a call from a friend, or something else entirely. If you are only interested in the match results, you can usually skip right to those without missing too much. I've tired to make the results easy to read so you can skip over my summaries if they are not your thing either.

A little background on the world this diary is taking place in: besides Honey becoming booker of CZCW, I only made one other change to the database. I'll fill you in if that becomes necessary, which I assume it will if the diary goes on long enough. Otherwise, we are working in the default Cornellverse. And yes, Dan Stone just died.

I'd love to hear from you if you have a suggestion or comment or critique. Since this is my first diary, I figure there aren't many of you. Regardless, I'm using this more as a creative outlet for myself, and I intent to continue it until both my interest and public interest wains. Still, drop me a line. There will be a press conference in a couple shows, and I'd love to have a couple questions to answer.

Here is our next card:

Fox Mask vs. Mikey James for the Coastal Zone Championship

Frankie Perez vs. Matthew Keith vs. Remmy Skye

Donnie J vs. Matt Sparrow

Al Coleman vs. Masked Cougar

Rich and Famous vs. Hernandez & Jameson for the Tag Titles

California Love Machine vs. Marc Speed

I'm liking what you are doing with CZCW. Using the COTT is something everyone should do, for one day we will see the epic match of American Flash vs Copperhead!

Question for the conference.

Will you look to bring in more workers from the COTT or are you saving them for one off occasions>

Question: CZCW has traditionally been home to some excellent luchadors. You seem a little thin on the ground since the departure of Snap Dragon - can we expect to see more Mexican wrestlers making their way to the Zone?

“Honey, can I speak to you for a minute?”

Honey Golightly stepped into Cliff’s office. It was an older office; his things had been in there a long time. CZCW wasn’t a big promotion. They rented a few rooms in an office building owned by a local community college. They had been there the longest, so they had accumulated a lot of stuff along the way. The more sentimental items stayed in Cliff’s office: old cards, posters, large framed photographs. Her office was full of old files and tapes, some of which hadn’t been touched in at least a decade.

“Honey, how is everything going? Anything to report?”

“Not really,” she replied. “Nothing major, at least. The guys got upset with Coleman over his flatulence, but didn’t do anything. Coleman got upset when I told him Weasel was going to go over him, and now he’s bent out of shape, but he’ll either get better or leave. He’s not getting a push so I don’t care either way.”

“Sounds fine to me. How did you think the show went?”

“I would have prefered to have Keith go over Donnie, but I figured that he wouldn’t let it fly. Not a big deal. Matt will most definitely draw here, if we can keep him around. He did well on the stick, so we can put him back on there soon.”

“I like where your head is at, Honey.”

“Any news on people leaving? I figured we would have gotten a call by now...”

He sighed. “No, and I think we are in the clear for the time being. SWF has already made their hires. TCW isn't doing as well as it should, and USPW is about to make a drop. But then again, what do I know?”

“Keep me informed,” she told him. She left his office and walked down the hall before making a right. Next three shows were booked and ready to. What to do now? Talent scouting sounded like it was productive enough, yet not that difficult. Maybe it was time to check out that guy from CILL she heard so much about...

It's the second Monday of March, and that means it's time for CZCW Uprising! We are live at the Grissom Auditorium in front of 2,000 screaming fans.

Cliff Anderson is at the announce table with the Guru and Honey Golightly.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/CliffAnderson.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/TheGuru.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/HoneyGolightly.jpg

Rich and Famous vs. Hernandez & Jameson

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/JakeIdol.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/JackpotJordan.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MainstreamHernandez_alt4.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/KirkJameson.jpg

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Hernandez & Jameson defeated Rich And Famous in 18:27 when Kirk Jameson defeated Jake Idol by submission with a Kirk-Hold. Hernandez & Jameson make defence number 2 of their Coastal Zone Tag Team titles.
Hernadez and Jameson retain their belts against Rich and Famous. It’s been said before, but the tag champs are really good as a team. It will take a major upset for them to be dethroned.

Marc Speed vs. California Love Machine

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MarcSpeed.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/CaliforniaLoveMachine.jpg

In a bout that had solid in-ring action and average heat, Marc Speed defeated California Love Machine in 11:45 by submission with a Cross Armbreaker.
Marc Speed bounces back with a win here. Speed isolated the Love Machine’s arm before locking in his killer submission hold to secure his victory.

41

Matt Sparrow vs. Donnie J

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MattSparrow.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/DonnieJ_alt3.jpg

In a bout that had solid in-ring action and average heat, Donnie J defeated Matt Sparrow in 18:19 by pinfall with a Death On Miami Beach.
After a draw last week, Donnie was ready to get back into the ring and get a win. Matt Sparrow was no match for the CZCW fan favorite and his beautiful valet.

Masked Cougar vs. Al Coleman

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/Masked-Cougar-alt4.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/AlColeman.jpg

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Masked Cougar defeated Al Coleman in 10:49 by pinfall with an I am Cougar, Hear Me Roar.
Al Coleman had a lot to prove in this match, but the mighty "I am Cougar, Hear Me Roar" stopped him in his tracks. Coleman was hitting the offense early, but a visit outside the ring was where he tripped up. Pee-Wee Germaine let the match continue after Coleman got whipped into steel steps, and he wasn’t the same afterwards.

Frankie Perez vs. Matthew Keith vs. Remmy Skye

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/FrankiePerezALT.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MatthewKeith.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/Remmy-Skye-alt1.jpg

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Matthew Keith defeated Frankie Perez and Remmy Skye in 19:19 when Matthew Keith defeated Remmy Skye by submission with a Proton Lock.
In triple threat action, Matthew Keith takes down two Coastal Zone mainstays, Remmy Skye and Frankie Perez. Keith is making his name in CZCW, and he has done so by going straight to the top: first a draw against Donnie J, now a win over Skye and Perez.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MatthewKeith.jpg

Matthew Keith grabs a microphone and addresses the crowd. Each match here is making him better. Keith learns his opponents tendencies in the ring and exploits them. He wants to prove how good he has become. Keith challenges Coastal Zone Champion Mikey James to a tag match at Spring Break Bash. James better pick a good partner, because Keith will have one of the best of all time.

Coastal Zone Championship

Fox Mask vs. Mikey James

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/FoxMask_alt2.jpgVS.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/BigBen5/CZCW/MikeyJamesALT.jpg

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Mikey James defeated Fox Mask in 27:06 by pinfall with a Dragon Whip. Mikey James makes defence number 5 of his Coastal Zone Championship title.
Unfazed by Keith’s request, Mikey James makes a good defense here against longtime locker room figurehead, Fox Mask. Fox Mask was unable to capitalize after hitting the Fox Hunter, and James recovered and won. Fox shook James’ hand after the match in a true show of respect.

Honey sat down at her chair on stage. “This is going to be painful,” she thought. She hated these press conferences. To her left was the Guru, followed by Frankie Perez, Mikey James, two empty chairs, then Cliff Anderson and Dylan Sidle. She hoped she wouldn’t sweat. She never knew how to act at these. There were a few local television camera, some beat writers, a couple bloggers, and about twenty fans. Everyone there knew pro wrestling was scripted. The question was the balance between kayfabe and reality. Would the questions be about the real life competitors, or the storylines?

“While we are waiting for Matthew Keith and his partner, I’d like to make an announcement.” Cliff was the first one to address the crowd. “The Coastal Zone would like to congratulate Donnie J and Britney Hollywood. Those of you that have seen these two in the ring know the natural-”

“No one cares about your announcement! They are here to see me.” From the back, Matthew Keith emerges with a microphone. “It’s impolite to start without the guests of honor, Cliff. Usually, I would give you a few hours of question time with me, but today isn’t about me. It’s about my tag partner. Ladies and gentlemen, my tag team partner, former SWF World Champion, former TCW International Champion, and current owner of Mid Atlantic Wrestling, my pops, Sam Keith!”

Cameras flash as Sam Keith comes through the curtain in his expensive suit. He gives his son a big hug, and sits down. “Coastal Zone, get ready for the best, because Sam Keith is here! For my spring break, I decided to stay away from Daytona and Mexico and settle right here on the left coast. My son and I are going to beat these two bozos here. Hell, I’ve forgotten more about wrestling than these two lizards will ever know! Now who has a question for me?”

A hand raises. “Boltinho here. This is my first time watching CZCW, after trying to get around to them for years...”

“That’s not much of a question, son, but I’ll address it,” Sam interrupted. “For all of you that can’t can’t handle the rat race on the east coast and all of you from the flyover states that made the wrong move, then CZCW is the place to you. Hell, is there anyone out here who does any real work?”

“Does anyone have a question for anyone else at the table? Me, Dylan, Honey...” Cliff asked.

“Jaded here. CZCW has traditionally been home to some excellent luchadors. You seem a little thin on the ground since the departure of Snap Dragon - can we expect to see more Mexican wrestlers making their way to the Zone?”

Honey smiles. “While we are very happy with our roster right now, we are constantly monitoring both the American and Mexican indies for new talent. You will see more luchadores in CZCW at some point this year.”

MichiganHero raises his hand and speaks. “Will you look to bring in more workers from the COTT or are you saving them for one off occasions?”

“We spend a lot of time monitoring the rosters of the COTT, but we make judgements on how to bring them in on a case to case basis. Sometimes it’s better to get someone through an alliance loan. Sometimes we like our guys to get exposure elsewhere, so we will make a trade. And if we think a guy will really be a good fit for us, we will sign them.” So far so good, Honey thought.

“I have a question for her,” Sam Keith interjected. “When are you going to stop making those eyes at me? The old man is taken, sweety. If you are looking for a good time, I have at least one son who can show it to you.”

“I don’t have to take this, Cliff.” She stood up.

“No, but you are dressed to take something else. Didn’t we spend a week together in Vegas one night?” Sam smirked.

“”Uh Sam,” Cliff said cautiously, “Honey is one of the voices of the Coastal Zone.”

“But she wasn’t always. I know the product you were peddling before you got here. Can’t remember the name of it, though. When did that go under? Three, four years ago?” Honey stood up, just as she was supposed to. “I’ve had erections last longer than that company.” She walked right over to Sam and slapped him across the face. As he shook off the sting of the slap, she walked away. She could hear Cliff end the press conference through the curtain.

Honey sat backstage, alone, returning emails on her iPad. It had been about an hour since the press conference was over, but the guys were out front doing interviews with the reporters. When a hand fell on her shoulder, she jumped. “That was a hell of a slap there, Honey,” said the voice from behind her.

“You startled me, Sam. Sorry about that. You gotta know how to put someone in their place sometimes, you know?” she replied.

“Oh, I know. Great job out there, kid. Really good stuff.”

“I should say the same to you. You did all the work.”

“Thank you. Sorry about those cracks-”

“Don’t mention it, Sam. I know the business. I wouldn’t be able to stick around this long if I couldn’t take a little bit of verbal abuse.”

“That’s good to hear,” Sam Keith said, as he let out a chuckle. “I’ll be back after my MAW show, and we can get all the beats of the match worked out. Should be a good time.”

“Great. Have a safe flight. I’m really looking forward to working with you, Sam.”

“I should say the same thing, Honey. See you soon.”
