RMW - Escape from New York

Recommended Posts

A large, stern looking man stood poised to climb the steps to the offices that sat above The Ministry, home to New York City Wrestling. It had been a while, hell, 18 months to be exact and while he was still not sure he really wanted to be here again, a feeling of nostalgia came over him and his mind drifted away to another time………….

NYCW - Passing the Torch

Shaking his head Lee Wright snapped back to the present. Those images in his head, seemed like an eternity ago and much had changed. First and foremost his own life had changed more than anything. His mind drifted away again to the events following that last card in June 2011. Leaving the arena Lee was making a drive he had made hundreds of times before, back to his humble apartment in Brooklyn. Of course, after the bright flash of lights there was not much to remember until he woke up 6 days later in a Hospital bed, the victim of a drunk driver.

Though he suffered no lasting effects, beyond a mild limp, that night had effectively ended his wrestling career. Though he missed the business he had never ventured back to his old stomping grounds, afraid the mental pain of no longer being able to do what he love would dwarf the physical pain incurred during those long months of rehab that followed the accident.

Still, this was not truly the NYCW he had left. Sure, familiar faces like Bailey, Frank, Whistler and Sanders remained, but The Stomper had retired and his nephew Terry Twist, well that was a story in itself. Wright had grown to like the kid and thought his vision as a booker would lift NYCW to a place of prominence once again, incorporating the new, while embracing the old. Unfortunately Uncle Stomper was often at odds with Terry and when he retired they were barely speaking.

In a surprise move Derek ‘Stomper’ Bradford sold his controlling interest in NYCW to Larry Vessey, a man that had a solid wrestling career, but was despised by many for his actions behind the scenes over the years. Twist and Vessey often clashed heads, but when Larry decided to walk away from the ring Twist had shown him respect. Wright remembered thinking at the time that Larry might even have been touched by the Kids Olive Branch as he departed.

Nothing could have been further from the truth. The deal the Stomper made with Vessey left minor interest in the company to both his nephew and Bailey, shares that equaled value of roughly 25K each. The intent was that both would have input, while Vessey held the reigns and made the final call. Well, Larry wasted no time in returning to old form and making sure it was known he was the boss and though he gave Bailey respect there was nothing but venom for Terry Twist.

It finally got so bad the Twist told Vessey he could buy him out and shove NYCW up his wrestling tights. Larry, always the prick, made a generous offer of 25 cents on the dollar for Terry’s stake in the company. Terry, up to he task, turned around and sold his stake to Black Hat for 50 cents on the dollar, gave Larry the finger and walked away from the business, landing a job as a writer on a popular show called ‘Justified’ on the a cable network.

Vessey was angered by the move, but as he still retained a larger stake than Bailey got over it, appointing Black Hat as the new booker, then promptly interfering to the point that NYCW’s momentum came to a standstill and they settled into to their familiar notch as a small, New York based promotion………….

Wrights musings where interrupted by a familiar voice from the top of the stairs…

Bailey: [laughing] “What are you waiting for ya old broken down warhorse, we don’t have elevator service yet!”

Wright smiled and started up the stairs, one hand on the rail and one very big apprehension about to be answered.

<p>Wright entered the room and sat down at the table where his old acquaintance was sitting, with Bailey joining them. He did not expect this to be a cordial meeting as he had been supportive of Twist during his clashes with Vessey and Larry was always quick to insure no good deed went unpunished.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><span>http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/Puresim/TEW%2013/LarryVessey_zps2483cc2d.jpg</span><span>http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/Puresim/TEW%2013/LeeWright_zpsb2c038a7.jpg</span><span>http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/Puresim/TEW%2013/BlackHatBailey_zpsd6f72cef.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">Vessey: </span><span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="color:#FF0000;">“You know you are here because Bailey pushed for this and while I still question your loyalty, I do know you have a good mind for the business and could help the company.”</span></span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “Loyalty to what?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">Vessey: </span><span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="color:#FF0000;">“Me, what the hell, you think I forgot how you supported that punk over me? You think that just goes away, do you?”</span></span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “First off, I too am here because of Bo and loyalty has nothing to do with what happened between you and Twist. You can be a sonofa.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#006400;">Bailey: “Whoa, whoa fella’s, the show is next Saturday, nobodies marking out to this my friends.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">Vessey: “Bo, what the hell is this? You told me Wright wanted to talk to me…”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “What? I am here for Bo, and NYCW, not myself and sure and the hell not you!”</span></p><p> </p><p>

Bailey sat in uncomfortable silence, foiled in his plan to hopefully not have who wanted to meet with who come up, and now searching for an extinguisher to douse two of the shortest fuses in the business. But Bailey had this, he did after all order off of the value menu at McDonalds, which made him pretty damn smart according to the TV.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#006400;">Bailey: “Haha, perfect, once again the booker gets the swerve over without even trying.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">Vessey: “What in the hell are you talking about?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#006400;">Bailey: “I set things up this way……Don’t you see, an old school feud between Vessey and Wright. It ends up with you both picking out a young lion to champion you and the culmination is a blowoff cage match where you both tag with your proteges!! The heat is natural fella’s, just had to make you both see it.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “Buddy, you are full of it and you know it. I can’t wrestle for one and Larry doesn’t have anyone but his kid on his side! Oh never mind, who does Cameron work for again? That’s right, not NYCW because he hates you too.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">Vessey: “I will knock your head off you old washed up crippled bastard!!! Bo, that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, in fact you sound like that idiot Twist now. Maybe I should ask you about how important loyalty is?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#006400;">Bailey: [showing rare agitation] “I think you need to slow down right now Larry. Yeah, that was crap, but I am looking out for the company and I know Lee can help. I didn’t know how else to break the ice.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">Vessey: “Well for one, try not using a sledgehammer to break it next time and second, what the hell do we need help with?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “Still a stubborn prick I see.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">Vessey: “Who is about to knock you down those stairs Hop-along!!!”</span></p><p> </p><p>

Wright stands up and Vessey gets chest to chest with him.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#006400;">Bailey: [Now angry] “Enough!!! Things have got to change or we will get left behind and you need to listen Larry! And Lee, for god’s sake, I want you here because I respect you. You are brilliant and you have a vision for the future, that’s why you grew to like Terry.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">Vessey: “If am done hearing that name Bo, when he walked he became dead to me. Vision!! Huh, all he cared about was trying to topple me and that’s why you two brokered that little deal for his stake, not realizing that I had controlling interest no matter how the other shares were split. You think I don’t know, you think I am blind?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#006400;">Bailey: “I think you are paranoid and selfish and I think you deserve the reputation you get after trying to force Terry out and then undercutting his stake with a horrible low ball offer.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">Vessey: “At last the truth comes out. The good natured Bo Bailey finally getting it off his chest. You are one tough sonofabitch in the ring and one spineless jellyfish in the locker room Bo, over a year and it takes your old crony here to give you the balls to speak up. Well let me tell you what, I do have friends in the business and don’t need people like either of you. Bo, you don’t like how I do things here I will write you a check right now and you can hit the bricks you ungrateful bastard!”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#006400;">Bailey: “And you can go to hell if you think you are going to undercut me like you tried to do with Terry.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FF0000;">Vessey: “Undercut? You know what, since you got me on a good day” </span><span style="color:#FF0000;"><span style="color:#000000;">Larry moved swiftly to his desk and ripped out a check from the ledger, scrawling furiously</span></span><span style="color:#FF0000;"> “Here you go Bo, full value, fifty thousand dollars for your stake. Smoke it, burn it, shove it up your ass, I don’t care, just get the hell out of my company!!!”</span></p><p> </p><p>

Bailey looked at the check, showered Vessey with a few choice words and stormed off with Wright hot on his tail…….As they left The Ministry it was Wright showing a rare sense of humor as they walked into the cold New York winter.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “Well, I think that went quite well Bo, I am glad I came.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

Bailey kept walking and hollered back over his shoulder as he rounded the corner and shook the check over his head. <span style="color:#006400;">“We are not done yet Lee!!”</span></p>

Watching the December snow fall outside his apartment had always been relaxing for Lee Wright. Despite his well deserved image as a though guy, as he got older he found simple things like this much more rewarding. Listening to classic rock CD’s, a glass of wine (a taste he had never shared with the boys) and stretched out in his lazy boy by the window. </p><p> </p><p>

Suddenly the strains of ‘The Temples of Syrinx’ by Rush were interrupted by his phone ringing….</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/Puresim/TEW%2013/BlackHatBailey_zpsd6f72cef.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Bailey: “Good afternoon Buddy, I told you we were not done and it’s now time to start a new chapter.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “Let me guess, Richard Eisen wants to meet with me now and have me go over Steve Frehley for the strap?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Bailey: “Ah, no everybody knows you’re an old cripple now, even better. You my friend are now the head booker of a wrestling company!”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “Come on Bo, I don’t have the stomach for these shenanigans anymore, my settlement money is dwindling and I need to start looking for serious work so I can save some money for retirement. Just cut the crap please.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Bailey: “You don’t seem to get it Lee, I took that check that Larry put it into my own company!”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “What? You really are nuts….And where did you find a promotion to buy for 50 grand?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Bailey: “Well, it’s this little indy fed based on Utah, they were doing shows every 2-3 months around Salt Lake City, called themselves Beehive Wrestling. I bought the promotion lock, stock and barrel for 10 grand, which was my life savings, and I am putting the 50 thousand from Vessey into the promotion. I have renamed it Rocky Mountain Wrestling and we are going to go to a monthly show and eventually start doing some business in neighboring states.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “I am speechless, what the hell are you doing?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Bailey: “I am doing what I have always wanted to do, owning my own business so I can bring in the folks I want and do things the way I know they should be done and you’re going to be part of that! Listen, they already have a few young kids working for them with some potential, heck this kid Ernest Youngman, going to be a star. Got a few other solid kids too and I have already started making calls to bring in some more talent and get this thing rolling in January.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “That’s great and all, but I live in New York and have no plans to move anytime soon.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Bailey: “Already got your plane ticket for next week, gives you time to get your apartment listed and you can just stay with me while it sells, then..”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “Bo…Stop! You are asking me to leave my home, fly across the country to a place you can’t even buy wine….er, I mean beer on Sunday’s and take a chance on some back woods company that was running shows on the undercard of rodeos every three months?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Bailey: “Whoa, it is actually nice out here and they were running at a local Elks club and did you say wine?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

Well, the power of persuasion, curiosity or just plain a plain old middle aged crisis and a week after the call Lee Wright was touching down in Salt Lake City, Utah, the new head booker of Rocky Mountain Wrestling. Bailey called Wright before he left and let him know they had a full roster and were set to start monthly shows in January according to plan, though he would not share who was on the roster.</p><p> </p><p>

A short ride from the Airport to a small office in an industrial area west of the city and Wright was about learn all he needed to know and more. For the second time in a month, Bailey had talked Wright into meeting about returning to wrestling, only this time he was 3000 miles from home without a plan B or a clue as to why he could not shake wrestling from his blood, even when he knew he was playing a fools game.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Bailey: “You made it, get in here and sit down, we have a lot to do in the next 2 weeks old friend!”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “Why am I here? Do I even know any of the guys on the roster? And can you finally share it with me now that I have left my home, traveled across the country and will die homeless in the streets if these young bucks you rave about can’t put asses in the seats.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Bailey: “Wellllll, they are not all young bucks. I did get Cal Sanders and Tex Tagan and a couple of old buddies of yours from NYCW.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

As if on cue there was a knock on the door, followed by an entrance before either of them could say come in.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/Puresim/TEW%2013/DazzlingDaveDiamond_zpsf039e2dc.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#006400;">Triple D: “Well twist my nipples and call me happy, Lee Wright in the flesh! Woooeeee, I ain’t never laid eyes on a finer sight…..Well, except last night at this place downtown called the Iron Horse, man, I saw this young Filly, she had legs for miles, went right up and made an ass of themselves, haha, ya’ll get it?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “You know Dave, I always thought someday you would outgrow your obsession with weird phrases and ring rats, but like death and taxes, Dave Diamond stays true. How old are you now again?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#006400;">Triple D: “34 years old and still running like a young buck during rutting season, yes sir!”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “I was about to say, seems like you have not matured a day over 20.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#006400;">Triple D: “Well thank you Mr. Lee. I surely appreciate ya saying that. Hey now, I gotta run y’all, going back to being Heel like you wanted Black Hat and I just been a Baby for so long it's just too damn hard not to be all irresistible. Got some practicing to do, I’ll see y’all later!”</span></p><p> </p><p>

Dazzling Dave left with the same redneck aplomb that Wright had grown so ‘fond’ of and he could only shake his head as the door slammed shut.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “Please tell me he is not going to be at the top of the card?”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Bailey: “Oh you know you love that old country boy and yes. We are not exactly starting out on a big time budget here my friend…..We are young and inexperienced.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

With that Bailey slid the roster over to Wright, who hardly tried to hide his dismay, as he read the list of names and where they were slotted.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/RMWRoster_zpsd627c6e7.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000080;">Wright: “A lot of work is an understatement, this is a who’s who of who the hell are you and ones that I do know would have a hard time getting past mid card in NYCW. I need a glass of wi…er beer.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

glad you got Buzz Reid real cheap because my experience so far is he absolutely sucks in the ring. Youngman, Sanders, and Glenn should give you a solid midcard. Your main event, outside of Gauge looks a little weak though.

Yeah, I am worried about the main too, I need to get some of the young guys elevated real quick, or start making some money to bring in another top heel that can work. I like Brayfield as a manager too, he is cheap and does good work ringside and can cut a promo, definitely a bargain guy who can help the guys with poor charisma / mic skills.

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Cal Sanders defeated The Pilgrim in 9:26 by pinfall with a Frog Splash. – The Pilgrim resorted to dirty tricks early, catching Sanders with multiple cheap shots, then strutting around the ring making sure everyone knew how smart he was. Sanders then went on a tear and followed a vicious clothesline with the Frog Splash to put the cocky youngster away.</p><p> </p><p>

Black Hat Bailey makes his way into the arena, staring into the eyes of each person in the sparse crowd as he goes. <span style="color:#8B0000;"> “Well, well, well. Seems you morons need to get the word out that there is a new sheriff in town. You see, if any of you sheltered, raised like a Veal geeks where men and women, and I use the latter very loosely, like you all are, know a thing about wrestling, you would know.”</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">“You would know that I come from the New York City, NYC, pretty mean when it wants to be…And that while there, I led the baddest, most dangerous crew in Manhattan. Sponsorship better be good and Bailey and Wright will need to get this promotion above local inside of 6 months or it will be 50 grand Black Hat might as well have used as bird cage liner. Worker costs along where 11K and I will need to cut down on the number of guys I am using live, since I was cheap on the downsides. Triple D and Youngman are both a B in momentum, the trouble with D is finding guys he can work well with on this roster, Youngman on the other hand can have a solid match with about anybody.</em></p><p><em>

If you did start Rockhard, another show like that should get you to small and a bump in sponsor ship, but yeah, 11k is too much. And at least 1700 of that is your announce team, which you really don't need until you have tv</p>

Really enjoying this so far! Your characterizations of DDD and Black Hat Bailey, in particular, are stellar. You also seem to be channeling an inner Jim Cornette in some of your promos. Wooden teeth? Stellar! Keep it up - can't wait to see how far you can take RMW!!

Really great start. Good backstory with the two vets trying to get the wrestling world moving in the right direction so to speak. I have to agree with AJ, DDD charecter is very good. Nice little touch here and there for Lee too, he's not something I remember ever being used extensively on these boards, it's interesting to see how he will be portrayed.

Greg Gauge makes defense number 1 of his RMW United States Title. – Brody rag dolled the Champion from pillar to post and seemed to have things going his way as he hoisted Gauge up for a choke slam. Have to admit this one is disappointing as I was sure the first show would have boosted the crowd for this one more. Thanks MrOnu, I hadn't planned to use Wright much, except behind the scenes, but he is always the quiet, surly type, so I want to bring him out a little bit in this one.

Wright: "Bo, we lost over 7K in February and this is why!" Wright points to $8,400 in miscellaneous fees under expenses. "What the hell is all this, did you give Dave Diamond a company card? I mean what besides drugs and escorts costs this much?"

Bailey: "I am at a loss Lee, I know we had some legal fees, letting our announcers go with a little stipend and other stuff, I wil need to get a breakdown. Maybe its a bug?"

Wright: "A bug, bug in what? Grasshoppers are bugs, this is an F'n disaster. Did you have Adam check to see if there was some glitch in the finance program."

Bailey: "No, I trust his program, just some sloppy cash management, but we will be fine. We are still 43K to the good and I think we will generate some positive cash this month."

Wright: "Not with another outhouse main event like we had at Winter Wasteland, Brody was the drizzling sh*ts working with Gauge and we need somebody who can bring some real heat! Listen, I know you don't want to go there, but we need to contact a couple of old friends."

Bailey: "I don't want a war Lee."

Wright: "And I don't want to be living under a viaduct with a 'Will Wrestle for Food' sign in June if we don't fix it. Wrestling is a dirty business Bo, you know it as well as anybody. Sometimes you have to be the guy outside the ring that you are in it.....If you are afraid to fail you need to not be afraid to piss people off sometimes!"

Bailey scratches his chin, looks at the wall and lets out a big sigh....

Bailey: "Make the call brother."

KC Glenn vs The Pilgrim

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, KC Glenn defeated The Pilgrim in 8:32 by pinfall with a Tune Up the Sunshine Band. – The Pilgrim sought to outsmart the dynamic Glenn, but was thwarted time and again before falling victim to Glenn’s finisher, with KC mounting the turnbuckle and pumping his fist after win.

KC Glenn grabs a microphone and goes off on his current nemesis as the few women in attendance scream in delight.

“Thank you, I love you all.” Blowing a kiss in the direction of one especially hot young lady “And talk about love, I’ve got none for you Youngman. I see you strutting around like a peacock, telling folks you are the next big thing, the future, the chosen one. Well I have a choice for you. You know you stole the Intermountain Mountain title from me last month and for somebody ‘chosen’ to carry the torch of RMW you would think you could win without cheating. So I am telling you now, choose to give me a rematch next month at Rampage in the Rockies, or choose my wrath!”

Gram Gorman vs Cip Conduit

In an awful match that was completely devoid of heat, Cip Conduit defeated Gram Gorman in 11:26 by pinfall, illegally using the ropes for leverage. – Gorman and Conduit engaged in a nasty brawl with neither hesitating to turn things ugly. The end came after Conduit moved as Gorman attempted a splash in the corner, with Conduit pouncing on his prone opponent and throwing his feet over the ropes to hold him down.

Brayfield’s Double Cross Ranch enters the ring, with Brody holding a bloody rag over his forehead after the backstage attack.

Brayfield: “You know, maybe it’s just ‘lil ole me, but to think that somebody would have the gumption to attack one of the Double Cross family, then compound that with the stupidity to think they could actually get away with it without us finding out? Ya’ll know this just boggles the mind of the Boss Man. Ya see, my hands reach into many pockets and I already know who took liberties with Giant Brody, sooooo. Ya’ll can show your face now of you can pay double later!!!”

There is a pause before the curtain opens and finely dressed man whose face is new to those in the arena, but very familiar to most in the wrestling business appears.

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/Puresim/TEW%2013/HonestFrank_zps20c64f45.jpg

Frank: “Let me save you the trouble Mr. Brayfield. Yes, it was I who took out your goon and it was accomplished in quiet brilliant fashion I might add. You see, Honest Frank, and this is for the benefit of those in attendance who may not be familiar with the word integrity. Honest Frank always tells it like it is, calls it like he see’s and does it quite like nobody else can.”

Frank continues to stroll to the ring, finally reaching the apron as Revell and Tagan struggle to hold Brody back. Frank pauses, then climbs the ring stairs and rests his arms on the ropes.

Frank: “Giant Brody, so much anger, so little knowledge. Size and no substance, a head without a brain and sorry, but that’s just the truth. And of course as we all know, sometimes the truth hurts and truth is, you were not undeserving of a shot at the premier title in this company. Hey, I’m just being…pun intended….honest with you and if you think the truth hurt backstage earlier. Just wait until you see how the whole truth feels.”

Frank steps through the ropes and stands alone in front of the Double Cross Ranch

Revell and Tagan release Brody’s arms and as he steps toward Frank, Brayfield winds up and clocks him from behind with his cane. Instantly Frank, Revell and Tagan go to work, beating the Giant to the mat as Brayfield retrieves a chair, handing it to Frank who obliterates Brody. His work done, Frank shakes hands with Brayfield, who raises a microphone.

Brayfield: “I reckon I owe you a piece of the truth Brody. You see, the family set you up to take the US title from Gauge last month and you let us down. And to quote the scholarly man at my side, truth is we can’t have that. Now, I don’t know how you feel right now Brody, but I have to imagine you are hurting….Well, Frank already said it, so let me just add this. Consider yourself disowned by the Double Cross Family.”

Brayfield and Frank leave the ring laughing with Revell and Tagan in tow.

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Ernest Youngman defeated Storm Spillane in 14:10 by pinfall with a fast roll up. Ernest Youngman makes defense number 1 of his RMW Intermountain title. – A very quick paced match that was underappreciated by the crowd as Youngman showed some sound technical skills before resorting to short cuts as Spillane rallied. I respect the veterans, naw, actually I could give a Rat’s ass about them or anybody else in this company. You see, I am the future king of wrestling and RMW is only a step on my ascension to the throne as the new face of the sport! So, can you have a shot at this? Absolutely my man! In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Southern Comfort defeated The Diamond Exchange in 15:22 when Kentucky Bill defeated Buzz Reid by pinfall with a Kentucky Derby. Southern Comfort makes defense number 1 of their RMW United States Tag Team titles. - A brutal match that saw Diamond and William busted open and both teams administer brutal amounts of punishment. Late in the match Diamond gave Tennessee William a Dazzle Driver off of the ring apron onto the cement floor of the arena. As Diamond stood over the fallen William taunting him, Kentucky Bill hit is running Bulldog finisher on Reid and pinned him before Diamond could make the save.

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Honest Frank defeated Cal Sanders in 15:24 by pinfall with a Frank-N-Hurter after a distraction from Boss Man Brayfield. – Frank took great to delight in countering Sanders throughout the match; eventually drawing the latter’s ire for his continuous mockery of Sanders skill. Sanders snapped and sent Frank scurrying to the floor after a two fisted assault that brought Brayfield onto the ring apron. Honest Frank takes the house mic and proceeds to pontificate….

“Once again I am here to deliver the truth to the uneducated masses in Salt Lake City, Utah. You see, you all worship a false idol, a paper tiger, a man who does not deserve to call himself a Champion! Greg Gauge, you know that truth is you came here, to the bush leagues, because you could not compete for the laurels of a major league organization. The problem is, your Valhalla is now exposed to the truth and the truth is my arrival now takes this pathetic collection of punks and has-beens from the bushes to the big time! Which means I demand that you relinquish your title to me in the center of this ring.

Now, you can bring your belt to me now and walk away in one piece. Or, you can put it on the line at Rampage in the Rockies next month and lose it the hard way and maybe, just maybe, not walk away at all. It is now your choice and with each choice comes a truth and if you choose the hard way, you, like so many before will find out just how much……The truth hurts!!!”

“Well gee Frank, when you put it like that the ‘truth’ as you say is pretty clear. I am young and have a full career ahead of me. And, it really wouldn’t make sense to jeopardize that………By giving into to your old broken down butt like a wimp!!!! So bring your truth, your polyester suit and a big appetite, because I going to feed you some humility in front of all these good people here and show you why, Gauge is the rage and you are a relic!”

Happy with the show overall and way things are going, but the crowd is still not growing and we are heading for another big month of losses. Tennessee William fractured his cheek bone taking the Dazzle Drive off the ring apron, but will work through it.

Melvin Otto and KC Glenn have formed a strong friendship backstage, so perhaps an eventual program is in order for them.

I like your roster, but if you are still at local level, its way too expensive.

Even at small, depending on what Bailey is giving himself as the owner, and what Frank probably asks for, is a good chunk of change.

( by comparison, in my TPW dynasty, the highest amount I pay a month is 690 ppa for my road agent, and wrestler wise, 550 ppa. And I only brought the more expensive wrestlers in when I hit small with the increased sponsorship. On my local roster, no one cost me more than mid 300's ppa.

This looks like an interesting diary. Looks like a fun promotion to build up.

I love Black Hat Bailey. Been a fan of his since TEW04. I used to edit him so I could use him in the ring for NYCW. Sometimes I did the same for Rip Chord, and Sam Strong too. Loved using the old guys in a role that mimics veterans who never want to give up the stage lights.

Good luck. I will check back as this diary goes on.

Yeah I took a big gamble that I would hit small by this point, which would have made it doable. The bad part is to get Gauge as cheap as I got him I gave him wage matching, so when Frank came in guess what? The only redeeming thing about Black Hat is no downside, so I just won't use him until we start making a profit, which hopefully is soon.

Also, the miscellaneous costs are killing me ATM

Prior to Rampage in the Rockies things are not going well. Marchs losses were $8,201, the crowd for the event looked like it would be the smallest yet, Giant Brody had just stormed out in a fit after being told he was being released following the show, and now Gram Gorman stood before Lee Wright after nearly coming to blows with Honest Frank backstage.

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/Puresim/TEW%2013/LeeWright_zpsb2c038a7.jpg

Wright: "What the hell is wrong with you Gorman? You get in the face of one of the most solid guys in the industry and try and provoke him into a fight? How do you possibly think this was going to play out in our favor?"

Gorman: "Hey I just want to make sure I get mine and Nigel comes in here and suddenly thinks he is the star of the company, forget us guys who have been busting our asses for the company. I just don't like getting buried."

Wright: "You dumbass, busting your ass for 2 months? Buried? Gorman, you really think if we buried you anybody not named Rover looking to dig up a bone would even miss you you sorry sonofabitch? Nigel is a repsected veteran who you could take a couple of lessons from in professionalism. He has done more for RMW in one appearance than you will do over the rest of your contract!! So help me god if you ever start sh*t with him again you and I will be the main event at RMW Office wars and it will be a straight shoot, you got that jackass???"

Gorman: "Whatever...."

Wright: "Whatever? Well whatever are you going to do with 25% less pay tonight, cause that's what I am fining you. Want to cop anymore of an attitude with me you sullen little prick?"

Gorman: "Can I go now?"

Wright: "Yes and the faster the better and damn you Gorman, don't even think about tanking your match tonight!!"

Bailey: "Nobody could ever tell you worked for The Stomper."

Wright: "Except i am a helluva a lot better looking."

Our attendance down to 26 and another big month of losses pretty much solidifies the fact that we will not hold a show in May as even with the downsides, RMW will at least make a profit. Hopefully 2 months between shows will spur a bigger crowd for Parade of Champions in June.
