UFC 160 Weigh Ins and Predictions

UFC 160: Fitch vs. Thiago II- April 20 in Denver, Colorado

<a href="http://s1277.beta.photobucket.com/user/camyolo/media/Jon_Fitch_zps89decde7.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1277.photobucket.com/albums/y486/camyolo/Jon_Fitch_zps89decde7.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Jon_Fitch_zps89decde7.jpg"/></a>

Main Event

Jon Fitch(170) vs. Paulo Thiago(170)

Co Main Event

Jake Ellenberger(170) vs. Carlos Condit(170)

Undercard

Johny Hendricks(170) vs. Rory MacDonald(170)

Phil Davis(205) vs. Rafael Cavalcante(205)

Travis Browne(250) vs. Stipe Miocic(236)

Prelims

Constantinos Philippou(185) vs. Tom Lawlor(185)

Colton Smith(170) vs. Kyle Noke(170)

Paul Taylor(155) vs. Terry Etim(155)

Krzysztof Soszynski(205) vs. Jimi Manuwa(205)

Derek Brunson(185) vs. Sean Spencer(185)

My quick predictions for prelims:

Philippou

Noke

Taylor

Manuwa

Brunson

In the first fight, Stipe Miocic looking to get himself back into title contention will fight Travis Browne. These two fighters have something in common, they both want to get back into title contention after being derailed. I have a feeling Browne will get the victory because he's just bigger and will have the reach advantage, so Browne by Decision.

The next fight is between two title contenders as Phil Davis fights Rafael Cavalcante in an interesting match. Davis will want to get this fight to the ground and not fight like King Mo in his fight with "Feijao." That being said, Feijao has incredible takedown defense and even if he does get taken down, he'll know what to do off his back. I will say "Feijao" will win this fight by Unanimous Decision.

The first of the trilogy of Welterweight fights tonight is between Johny Hendricks and Rory MacDonald. I am interested in this fight the most because they are even in alot of categories, but I am fairly certain Hendricks will win. I say this because not only is Hendricks the stronger and quicker of the two, he has more power on a fairly untested MacDonald. We have never seen MacDonald fight the kind of power puncher that Hendricks is and will be overwhelmed and TKO'd in the 2nd round.

The second is a rematch between Carlos Condit and Jake Ellenberger which is fairly interested in. I do know that Ellenberger gas tank can be worn as well as his chin and those are two things that Condit will capitalize on. Condit is also dangerous off his back and will sweep Ellenberger like he did to Kim and land big shots. Condit has shown good power striking when he knocked down St. Pierre with the head kick and knocked out Kim with the knee. I say Condit will win by 3rd round submission.

The Main Event is a rematch between Jon Fitch and Paulo Thiago, eliminating one from title contention. Thiago has been on a tear and is looking to continue his good fortunes with a win on the struggling Fitch. I have a feeling that Fitch has past his prime and will likely go for one last run for a title shot but that won't be easy. I have a feeling Thiago will win by TKO in the 1st round.

Main Card

Travis Browne vs. Stipe Miocic

Round 1: 10-9 Browne, doing exactly as I said, using his range to keep Miocic away.

Round 2: 10-9 Browne, Browne doing more of the same except for a knockdown and working on the ground.

Round 3: 10-9 Miocic, Miocic lands a knockdown on Browne and elbows open up a cut but no stoppage.

The winner is Travis Browne by Unanimous Decision(GOOD)

Phil Davis vs. Rafael Cavalcante

Round 1: 10-9 Davis, Lay and Pray from Davis on Cavalcante.

Round 2: Davis lands a takedown on Feijao and gets into side control. Davis gets into mount and pounds on Feijao and gets the stoppage!

The winner is Phil Davis by TKO in 3:32 of the 2nd round(GREAT)

Johny Hendricks vs. Rory MacDonald

Round 1: 10-9 Hendricks, Even though he got takendown late in the round, Hendricks controlled most of the round on the cage.

The winner is Rory MacDonald by TKO in 4:41 of the 2nd round(GOOD)

Avatar on the Trilogy of Welterweight fights, "Thiago has impressed me so far in his two fights under my new reign as CEO. He will fight Ellenberger who also got an impressive win over a top Condit, and that will be a number one contender fight after GSP fights MacDonald. Speaking about MacDonald, he looked the best out of all 3 of the winners, no disrespect to any of them but he dominated Hendricks at his best asset. I believe he will be GSP's toughest challenger as Condit wasn't tough enough but he can wrestle with GSP as he showed tonight. As for the losers, Condit will fight Fitch at some point and Hendricks will probably fight the winner of an upcoming top contender fight we will announce soon."

Avatar on Davis, "Davis looked good tonight, he dominated Cavalcante and didn't give him a minute to breathe. Davis will fight the other winner of the two light heavyweight fights on the upcoming FOX card."

Avatar on Browne, "Browne kept it together tonight and for the first two rounds, he looked spectacular but faded and almost was stopped in the third round. He didn't look bad but not a top contender performance and he'll have another fight before getting a top 10 shot."

Avatar on the prelims, "The prelims were spectacular and we've been on a roll as of late with great prelim cards and we will have more that are sure to excite."
